What do Choc and Reg have going on between them?
Oh, I've been wanting to share this for some time!
This dynamic was never meant to be a thing until I started talking with @catisteard and it kinda spiraled out from there to which I'm immensely thankful for. There's also so much more to it that I can't fully explain in this post that would make sense. Originally I intended for neither man to have interacted too much, instead Choc's sister, Honey would've taken the mantle somewhat, and Choc was meant to be a different person then what I now plan out for him.
The relationship started off in their youth as a viciously heated rivalry between Reginald, a hot headed newcomer and Choc, the apple of Chief Wilford's eyes. In turn leading them to be constantly at each other's throats, often getting into petty fights, verbally or physically.
Until sometime in their thirties it evolved to a strange on-off situationship when the two had decided to set up a motion in place to use the other as a literal stress reliever. An unhealthy codependent bond lasting for a couple years afterwards nobody knew of besides them. As the pair got older, seasoned with experience, was left to simmer as bitter exes? Whatever's there is cynical, filled with tension and snarky quips at the other's expense.
Everyone knows Choc's a nice guy, unable to purposely harm a fly and think that Reginald is unnecessarily badgering the poor man.
Although there are rare moments in the midst of their problems, they do have, at least close to, genuine moments of assumed care and respect for one another.

hater has disturbing reoccurring dreams about wander crawling inside his ribcage that always have him waking up in a cold sweat [they just feel too real and hater can’t place why]. wander has reoccurring dreams of hater ceremoniously destroying him with the Disaster Blaster and it’s the one dream he doesn’t eagerly blab to sylvia about because he doesn’t know how to tell her that it never feels like a nightmare. soooo is anyone else sick in the head or is it just me

Can we all take a moment to thank Emma for protecting Rhaenyra, they hate Daemyra just as much as we do and made sure the writers lessened their scenes with Matt.
If it was up to them Rhaenyra would be crying to Daemon instead of calling him "pathetic", nor would she bond with Myseria after realising how much they both suffered at his hand.
Something I find very unfortunate is how much people romanticise and love daemyra. People are allowed to ship whatever they want, that’s not the issue, the issue is I never see daemyra shippers talk about the abuse in the ship.
Daemon groomed Rhaenyra. He used her solely for his own personal gain. He abused her both mentally and physically. Their relationship is not ‘cute’ it is one built off abuse.
I think no one (writers and actors) expected the viewers to love Daemon/daemyra so much. And I think one of the main reasons they like daemon so much is because he’s played by Matt. Matt is great, but the character he’s acting as is a terrible man and I think people are choosing to look past that for the sake of their love for the actor.

truly not that deep, not that big of a deal, no ill will, but posts along the lines of “lumax is the most healthy couple in stranger things” are super common and i kind of really don’t like them.
more than anything it just feels like a blatant misread of their relationship. like they definitely aren’t toxic or anything, but they are literally broken up in season four, they objectively have things they need to work on. and that’s fine btw! that’s part of what makes them interesting! easily one of the my favorite parts of lucas on the line was lucas contentiously failing to understand max’s grief and feeling resentful towards her because he couldn’t. this was because despite his frustration he still loved max, he still tried to connect with her. he will never fully understand her grief, he will learn how to accommodate it eventually, but even by the end of season four they aren’t really there yet. and that’s special, that’s interesting, that’s a flaw in their relationship worth exploring. it’s kind of like by ignoring their flaws you’re saying there’s nothing to be discussed, when really they are like one of the relationships most worthy of discussion.

inara would romance : lae'zel, shadowheart or gale, and she'd bring out the worst in all of them. (maybe also astarion, but I do think she thinks he's a little........ weak? at least at first glance –– she would probably recommend astarion ascend, honestly.) like I think she's drawn to power, and while lae'zel and shadowheart are the ones she's immediately drawn to, especially physically, gale's potential as a wizard and his power calls to her. she's a little like mystra, in that way, except without the grooming and other weird shit. she thinks wyll and karlach are far too nice and naive.

So I know, I know, we all hate it when people add comments and especially lengthy ones to posts that are no openly encouraging them. Nevertheless, I'm gonna do so in this particular case because the novel that I was writing in the tags just got too too long and I was frighteningly close to the tag limit.
The things that would fix Esteban Flores are (in roughly this order)
A found family (preferably one totally divorced from connections to his bio family) and/or a small child to take care of.
A heartfelt apology from his biological family (definitely Luisa, probably Elena, and maybe Francisco as well).
A hug x1000
Being shaken
Enough sleep
But most especially the first two.
Esteban's issues stem from being made to feel like an afterthought and/or an obligation to his family of origin. In his mind, he was not chosen or wanted. He was liked, loved even--but he was loved because he was familia--not because he was Esteban. He was not enough in and of himself, especially not when compared to Elena.
Do you know why he continued to tend the cacao trees during the Dark Times? Yes, it was out of love for his family, but I think there's a bit more to it than that. His abuela shared something private and meaningful (i.e. how to take care of the cacao trees) with him that she didn't also share with Elena. He was welcomed into Luisa's world--if only for a moment. This was his, the rare thing that he didn't have to sacrifice to or share with Elena. No one could take this away from him--the moment of feeling seen and chosen. Not even the fact that this moment was very very much an anomaly and the rest of his youth (and his adulthood) consisted of him being shoved into the corner of some family portraits and left out of others entirely---and no one noticing this for years.
In "Something I Would Never Do," Esteban outright states "Years ago/ I did not know/Just how much they cared for me." He's just now realizing after 40+ years that his family just might love him (50+ years if you go back to when Esteban moved into palace); he's genuinely surprised about it and terrified that he's going to fuck it all up. Yes, Esteban has atrocious self-esteem, but these impressions did not come from nothing. Even now, his family keeps him largely at arm's length. He doesn't appear (or isn't even mentioned) in the two family vacation episodes, suggesting he was left behind. His Navidad plans (the ones he has been dreaming of , all alone for 41 years!) are rejected outright by Luisa, and no one even bothers to ask what the Dark Times were like or how he is coping. Everything has changed and yet nothing has changed. He's there, sometimes he is shown attention and affection, but he's still made to feel that he's not really a part of the family in the same way the others were.
All this is pretty bad in and of itself, but it's made worse by the fact that he's not getting his emotional needs fulfilled from outside the family any more than he is within it. As far as we can tell, Esteban's only real friends as a child were Elena and Victor. (Maybe Felicia as well, but she was far more Elena's friend than his). And neither Victor nor Elena could give Esteban what he needed: the feeling of being liked and chosen for himself and that alone.
Elena is family--the same family has made Esteban feel like an afterthought and obligation, merely liked at best and tolerated at worst. But that's oversimplifying things. Elena is also the impossible gold standard that Esteban will always be measuring himself against. (And it's especially galling that she was 1-2 years younger than him, and he was still nowhere near her level). She's the favorite (and Luisa is not subtle about hiding that fact), the priority, the important one. She's the one who has always been and will always be secure in power and confidence and their familia's love--the exact opposite of Esteban.
Victor, meanwhile, was a horrible influence on Esteban, and not just where Shuriki was concerned. His selfishness rubbed off on his amigo, and his competitiveness and callousness brought out every one of Esteban's insecurities and worst tendencies. It's also very strongly implied that their friendship (at least on Victor's side) was rooted in how 'useful' Esteban was. Through El Segundo, Victor got closer to power/the crown and also found someone that he could feel "superior" to. Someone that Victor could consistently beat at races, so that he could feel like a winner. Someone who wouldn't tell Victor to go to hell if he subjected unflattering nicknames upon.
So yeah, Esteban's childhood primary source of affection/attention outside his family were two people who exacerbated Esteban's already huge inferiority complex. One of whom was part of said family that enabled said inferiority complex in the first place, and the other of whom is wrapped up in the event that caused Esteban to lose his family as well.
And then, Elena was trapped in the amulet and Victor was banished from Avalor, and Esteban was without anyone at all for 41 years. His primary source of attention and affection during this time was the woman who conquered his kingdom and took away his family. Someone who had preyed upon his vulnerabilities from the very start and who kept him alive only so long as he remains obedient and "useful" to her. There's nothing even remotely close to equal or mutual about this dynamic, and Shuriki did even more damage on Esteban's already battered psyche than all of the others combined and multiplied by ten.
Even after Shuriki is gone, Esteban still doesn't have anyone in his life that voluntarily chose to be in his life. His entire social circle is comprised of people that he knows through his family and/or his role as chancellor (and later his magical abilities). There's Naomi, except there isn't, because their dynamic is rooted exclusively in their shared devotion to Elena and their roles on the Grand Council (which is also directly tied to Elena).
Similarly, Doña Paloma interacts with Esteban almost exclusively in reference to his role as Chancellor. Would she give him the time of day if he had no political power or influence?. Doubtful, especially as she seems to really dislike him most of the time. There's a bit more potential for a genuine friendship to develop with Julio or Professor Mendoza, but again, these connections were formed through Esteban's job and we don't really see any interactions that aren't in service to that.
Higgins is explicitly Esteban's employee and given how insensitive he can be to Esteban, it seems unlikely that he has any real non-professional loyalty or affection to him. Same with Armando, except things do seem to a bit more cordial between them.
Esteban seems to have a good rapport with Avalor's allies, especially Toshi and Shoji, but these are unlikely to be anything more than friendly diplomatic connections and ones separated by distance.
So yeah, my boy literally does not interact with a single character on the show without at least one of them doing so out of obligation/duty/job requirement and/or ulterior motive. Fifty years later and almost nothing has changed, Esteban still has nothing and no one to call his own.
#esteban flores#elena of avalor#honestly it pisses me off that esteban never met chloe and barely interacted w/ valentina#because he has a lot in common with them#(and yeah it's not exactly ideal since these friendships too would be connected to job and family)#but still...there are things about chloe and valentina that elena just can't fully understand but esteban can#elena does not know what it feels like to grow up in elena castillo flores' shadow; but esteban DOES and valentina is doing it right now#unlike chloe and esteban; elena has always been popular and made friends easily; she doesn't know how hard it can be#how it can feel like you're doing everything wrong or even if you're doing everything right and its still not working out the way you want#and second-guessing whether people only want to spend time w/ you because you are royal and therefore useful#and elena's friends genuinely like her for her--and not her role#there's a whole dang AU episode in which she and the amigos find and choose each other w/o her having been the princess#whereas with chloe (pre-maliga at least) and esteban; there's always gonna be that doubt that elena never had.#'do you like me for me or for what I can give you? will you still like me when i inevitably disappoint you?'#reason no.1000 that elena of avalor should've gotten an s4: so esteban could make an actual friend and/or get an s.o.#preferably one who has no idea at first of who he is and who he's connected to#so that esteban knows that he himself is what the friend/lover finds interesting and not his power/connection#i mean don't get me wrong; i am still gonna ship him with elena and victor and naomi but can't help but feel like he deserves better#doña paloma is my notp and while i've seen him shipped with chatana and prof mendoza before and like it well enough#there's almost nothing in canon to work with#maybe one of the agama brothers? but we see so little of them tbh#i'm guessing that this is why he gets shipped with OCs so often#the 'right' partner with whom he could have a truly healthy; healing and sustaining relationship doesn't exist in canon#and all the most interesting esteban ships aren't necessarily healthy#since they are with people who either have already fucked esteban up or who aren't interested/qualified in helping him heal#am intrigued by esteban/ivy tho so i may have to rewatch stf soonish and evaluate further

I still haven't posted anything about ace x senku (because fuck him), but I'm thinking about how that ship handles our dynamic.
Fundamentally, ace x senku and mikace are the same exact ship. INTP x INTP at our very worst. Competitive and methodical and lofty goals and misunderstandings and over analyzing motivations.
But where mikace becomes very codependent very quickly, even just as friends - ace x senku is forced apart right when we would have become codependent, and have to grow as individuals separately from each other. I think Senku is dead for a good while. Senku has to learn how to work through his blocks without me there to bounce ideas off of.
Which is why Ryusui is an important part of ace x senku. I have to learn to heal from Senku's "betrayals" (yes, plural) and Ryusui provides the love and understanding for me to do that. Ryusui grounds me and shows me a different way of viewing the world. I haven't figured out our break-up yet, but I know that it's going to be amicable and as friends. Ryusui is going to realize that the person I need, now that I've grown and healed, isn't him. And he'll be okay with it because he just wants to see me happy.
Mikace doesn't learn how to exist without each other. We break up every other week. We make our friends pick sides. When we're younger (15/16) we get into cat fights. More than once, we've both ended up with black eyes and sprained wrists or ankles because we thought a sparring match would help solve an argument. We do eventually grow as individuals, but all of our growth happens much too late in the relationship and only after a dozen or so interventions, led by Takemichi.
So yeah, mikace and ace x senku are the same ship, fundamentally. They both bring out the worst in me, and I believe I'd bring out the worst in them (this is also why mikace is exclusively final timeskip). But because of a correctly timed Tsukasa, ace x senku is a much healthier ship (when we get there, eventually; it's pretty toxic for a long while after the empire is dissolved).
#mikace#senkace#i try really hard not to fall into intp x intp ships#i don't put any real stock in mbti#i think it's just fun#but i do see a lot of myself in characters that have been labeled as intp (by fandom)#mikey senku kenma frieren waver ranpo belphie#and i know that if i had to deal with a second me it wouldn't end well for either of us#being friends isn't as bad#i think kenma osamu and i are bffs in daisugace (tanaka definitely isn't jealous)#but you don't necessarily live with friends for more than 50% of your day#and it is absolutely that close proximity to each other that results in 95% of my intp x intp ships being hella toxic#thank you for coming to my ted talk 🫡#now for the tag ramblings that actually go with this post:#i intentionally didn't include the ways mikace changes in#rincemakasuke#because there are a lot of players in the game that eventually get us to a healthy-ish place#rin and ran and shinichiro provide me with a family that i desperately need#keisuke and takashi show me that it's possible to be loved unconditionally#mikey figures out that he's aromantic and that's where 85% of our fights originate#kazutora and i help each other heal from our traumas#chifuyu hakkai and peh always meet me where i'm at with zero expectations#whereas the only 'outside' influence in ace x senku is ryusui#so it didn't feel right to write from rincemakasuke#the growth requires a lot bigger support network and is therefore a bit more extrinsic vs intrinsic#jeez i hope all these tags save 😭#divider from cafekitsune

Thinking about how I would write an adult Scooby-Doo series, because I think it can be done.
The first thing I’d do is make the characters actually be adults.  Still young, but adults, in the mid to late 20s range.  Mystery Inc. is a private detective type business that they run together.  In this universe, the supernatural/ghosts/etc are real, but not necessarily common, so when they take on a case, the culprit might be a person disguised as a monster, or it might actually be a real ghost.  The stakes can be higher; sometimes a bad guy is legitimately trying to kill them.  Sometimes the mystery they’re trying to solve is a murder.  Sometimes they actually get hurt on their cases.
Fred: the core of Fred’s character should be that he’s incredibly kind.  Like, give a stranger the shirt off his back kind.  The “Fred can’t talk to potential clients because he might take a case for free and we need to eat” kind.  He’s an honest and good person and sometimes gets himself into trouble because he assumes other people are too.  While he’s not very good at reading people or noticing ulterior motives, he’s brilliant when it comes to mechanical or engineering type stuff, so he’s the one who keeps the mystery machine running, builds their gadgets, and of course, designs the traps.
Daphne: she comes from old money, and her parents absolutely despise her life choices, to the point where they haven’t officially disowned her, but they have basically cut her off, so she doesn’t actually have access to any family money.  Growing up wealthy has granted her a variety of skills, including speaking multiple languages, horseback riding, and fencing.  She’s very into fashion and jewelry (even if she can’t afford it anymore) and has extensive knowledge of both that can occasionally provide a vital clue in a case. And even though her parents have cut her off, Daphne still has a wide network of contacts she can ask for favors sometimes, because she’s personable, and people tend to like her.  Daphne is also very emotionally intelligent, and is usually the one who can spot when someone is lying to them.
Side note - I ship Fred and Daphne, so I think I would start them off as an established couple for this universe.  Dating, engaged, married, I don’t care.  They are stupidly in love, ride or die for each other.  There’s no will they, won’t they, no worries about cheating.  They are in a healthy, happy, loving relationship, and no one (not even Daphne’s disapproving parents) are going to mess that up for them.
Velma: she is the forensics nerd who sometimes gets super excited about the wrong thing at the wrong time (”He was mummified in seconds? That’s so cool!” “Velma!  His wife is standing right there!” “Oh.  Sorry.”).  She’s not purposely insensitive, she just gets laser focused on her work and forgets to filter herself sometimes.  She’s also the one who can get so fixated on solving whatever mystery they’re working on, she’s willing to bend or maybe break laws.  Is breaking and entering really so bad?  Not if it gets them answers.
Shaggy: he is still the comic relief, but he’s the comic relief by being the only person in the group that actually has common sense.  He manages the business’s finances, he’s the only one who knows how to cook, and the others tease him for being a coward sometimes, but Shaggy maintains that if a ghost with an axe is coming for you, running is the only sensible option.  He should also have a range of random knowledge that sounds useless, but sometimes saves the day (ex ventriloquism, origami, the history of spoons, etc).
Scooby: as this is a universe where supernatural creatures exist, Scooby is an ancient eldritch type being that took a shine to Shaggy when he was a kid, and took the form of a talking dog to befriend and hang out with him.  Aside from the talking dog bit and not aging, he never uses his powers in a way that anyone notices.  The audience is not told upfront that Scooby is an ancient eldritch being; it should slowly be hinted at throughout the series so the audience put it together, but the characters never realize it.  Scooby genuinely considers Shaggy to be his best friend, and cares about the rest of the gang too.

All this aside, bestie...if you want to watch the original show then watch that. If you like the layout and structure and so on more in the original, then watch that instead. No one is forcing you to watch the adaptation, and I do stress:
Adaptation
Because it's not a remake. Remakes are lazy, non-transformative, and artistically abhorrent. This is an adaptation, which by nature of the very genre, is obligated to be a transformative, new interpretation of an existing work.
If you don't like the new lens, the adaptation isn't for you, and that's fine.
Food for thought: if you feel the original is perfect and that no added perspective is enlightening or illuminating the original IP...then the adaptation wasn't even made for you. It was made for us.
Tumblr media
Correction... we see Aangs crush/infatuation/love from the beginning, not Katara's.
Katara doesn't actually start having feelings for Aang until after she has her fortune read by Aunt Wu and she takes it seriously. Then it's not until Sokka says something about Aang being a powerful bender that Katara sees that her fortune is 'true'.
Why do I hate this?
Because it leaves no room for Katara to make up her own mind about who she should be with and how she should feel. It takes away her ability to choose and she will ultimately not see any other possibilities other than what she is told to believe. The fact that the writers did this just... ugh. No. It limits Katara to one choice and one alone.
It's not a good choice because she ends up in a semi toxic relationship with a man who favors one child over two others because he can airbend.
Also, if it does happen in the Live Action, then that's fine if they do it right. I honestly would be thrilled if there was no romantic subplot because then no one will be happy.
Also, I wanted to explain why I do screenshots of topics. It's because I can control who sees this better. I don't want the antis reblogging my words and using shallow arguments to come at me. So this is my way of controlling the discourse.

In response to the Mile High Job post, I hate that Parker implies that poor flight attendant slept her way to a promotion/better shift. Her day is super weird but her cat is fine and her life is saved. That rumor, however, might stick and that didn't really feel like Leverage to me.
Agreed!
The thing with Leverage is that it's a show from the late 2000s; it feels contemporary, but actually it is a bit dated. And, like all shows, it had some problematic elements, which get a bit more Obviously Problematic as time goes by (I am just waiting for someone to write a lengthy call-out post in 5 years' time and for the Discourse to start.) For example, Tumblr loves to declare that Leverage has a "canon" throuple, but if anyone read that and then watched the show they would be profoundly disappointed - while it's a fantastic ship with a great many shippy instances, Elliot has a lot of onscreen No Homo moments, and frequently is shown sleeping with random women (I personally read him as aromantic). Similarly, there are two big relationships in that show: Nate/Sophie, and Parker/Hardison. And we all wax lyrical about the brilliance of Parker/Hardison and how healthy it is, and for good reason; but we gloss over how unbearably "I hate my wife/father I cannot click the book" Boomer humour Nate/Sophie is.
(He literally calls her a shrew in one episode. She throws a tantrum and sulks if he doesn't remember the exact details of how/where they met. She's stereotypically 'romantic' and he's stereotypically 'cynical' and she has to Save Him From Himself, and he self-deprecatingly says he should just know when to stop arguing because she's always right. Like... it is a grubby and uncomfortable dynamic; but, it's also aimed at a different segment of the audience that is older than me, and that's okay, actually. It just means I don't much care for the ship myself.)
Anyway, this is one other such instance. Clearly someone in the writers' room thought that was a funny joke, and not enough people disagreed, and so in it went. What's nice is that Sandi McCree, who plays the other flight attendant that stays on the plane, actually kind of saves that joke for me with her performance. When Parker first boards and declares that her co-worker is not coming in, McCree looks disgruntled at the sudden change to her staff list when she wasn't informed; she's annoyed at management. Then Parker makes the sleeping-with-pilots comment, and McCree looks disgusted and furious -
An expression she then pulls at Parker every time she sees her for the rest of the episode, even when Parker is technically not doing anything particularly weird. It's not necessarily intentional on McCree's part (Parker IS very weird in this episode, so it very much can be a response to that), but to me it means you can read it as "This woman is absolutely furious at the lateral sexism of this white girl because We Love And Support Each Other On This Plane." So, for me, between that and the aforementioned revelations of the day (the plane was brought down by the domestic terrorists of a Fortune 500 company, but saved by... a few unexplained Official People who snuck aboard??? And the other flight attendant was made to miss the plane after all under mysterious circumstances and was not promoted??? What???), I don't think Sandi McCree's character wouldn't put those pieces together.

Fandom Problem #5548:
Which one says more "groomer"?
"NSFW - Trigger warnings: age gap, noncon 18+ only, dead dove do not eat, minors keep out" "What you enjoy in fiction is mot necessarily what you think is acceptable or good in real life, and that's okay. Just be courteous and respect people's boundaries, tags, filters, and content warnings are useful tools. Fiction is a safe way of exploring unsafe concepts. Many people use fiction as a method to work through their traumas, but its okay even if that's not the reason they like it, some people are just drawn to taboo subjects, that's completely natural. Regardless we're not going to try to force people to open up about their past traumas, nor any other personal information. No story should be banned from being told just because it makes some people uncomfortable. Art is meant to provoke intense emotions, afterall. Even if I don't like something, it's not my business to tell someone else what they should or should not create. I'm an adult and its MY responsibility to manage my emotional responses, not anyone else's. If you find yourself unable to manage please remove yourself from this space and find somewhere more suitable.
or
"EVERY OTHER ADULT BUT ME is out to get you!! I'M the only one I can trust!! I only like WHOLESOME ships and WHOLESOME content!! Look at this GROSS NASTY PORN someone made!! They tried to hide it because they don't want anyone to know what a GROSS FUCK they are!! That's why I'm showing it to all of you!! I can't trust anyone unless you detail ALL of your privileges and your traumas! And if anyone steps one toe out of line by enjoying a problematic cartoon ship I'll publicly shame them and tell all my other 14 year old friends to bully harass cyberstalk and socially ostracize them as well and if they don't I'll make sure the same thing happens to them!! This is for the SAFETY of other minors and NOT because of any petty personal vendetta!! ALSO I think its a good idea to send specifically minors to mess with people who - I claim to truly believe are - ACTUAL REAL PEDOPHILES-- to totally frickin own them online!! Anyone who disagrees with me is a pdo and gromer!!! So ONLY LISTEN TO ME!!! NO opposing or outside perspectives allowed!! I'm a good, SAFE, HEALTHY, NORMAL ADULT!! PROSHITTERS KYS!!!!!!"

I like all the handyman AUs and ones inspired by it, but I feel like we aren’t exploring the idea of Stanford being the scientist he is and doing research on Bill Cipher. There are endless possibilities, really.
Ford is a cryptozoologist for fuck sake, I think if his previously incorporeal paranormal dreamscape toxic ex walked in with a physical form, whether it be triangle or human; if he was a human to begin with or if he got turned into one after the theraprism or whatever, he’d want to at least do a little medical exam on him as a treat.
Like, how is he not going batshit over how it’s possible for Bill to have a physical form? And you just know his past self wanted to know what his deal was physiologically. He is a whole-ass shape. He’d wonder how the hell he even functions.
Once again he’s a scientist and an enthusiast of the paranormal. You’ve seen his journals, his collections of sample jars of various cryptid parts, the fucking T-Rex skull he put in a fish tank and hooked up to a monitor of some kind, c’mon. Mans is unhinged, don’t tell me he wouldn’t at least want to get a blood sample from that little cheese wedge freak. This is also assuming Bill still has the crack, which he’d want to take a look at too, maybe try to fix it or something. It doesn’t even have to be billford ship, they can hate each other’s ass, still be bitter exes about it or maybe it’s a point in the story where they start coming back around to each other. Not even necessarily in a romantic way, like Ford finds out Bill has medical trauma and either tries to help him through it or makes it waaay worse. The whole thing resurfaces a bunch of shit he’d blocked out and refused to deal with in therapy. (if the theraprism didn’t do that already, assuming it works similar to a real mental hospital.) Could be a great opportunity for angst/fluff and hurt/comfort.
A catalyst for the situation could be an injury or the cracks get worse or just for shits and giggles. Though I think having a reason is more fun for storytelling.
I like the idea of a character that’s normally emotionally distant and nonchalant having a moment of vulnerability and feeling safe enough to show fear and seek comfort from the only person they’d ever deign to show that side of themselves to.
Maybe they both learn how to approach their relationship in a more healthy way. Or perhaps they stay pathetic petty exes but deal with each other regardless. Full of fluff or super angsty, maybe a little bit of both; Whatever serves the narrative best.

Cant believe im getting rbs on a post about junepei when yesterday I went on a big rant shitting all over junepei 😵‍💫😭😰
Akane who sacrifices her entire life, and her loved ones lives, and the lives of many others, all in the hopes that she can forge a timeline where she and Junpei can be together and live a peaceful life, only to have traumatized Junpei so much in the process that he doesn’t want anything to do with her in the end
#zero escape#i look like a dumbass now!#even though this post isnt exactly me being positive towards the ship its more me being like#‘ahaha isnt this FUCKED UP????’#which ive said again and again is the only aspect of this ship i dont hate#just cuz its the only part of their dynamic that feels interesting 👍#me thinking about this pairing i hate is making me fixated on my girl rebecca gales cuz idk#they kinda do the whole ‘childhood crush thats kinda not healthy’ thing so good#she reminds me just a bit of junpei cuz she was best friends with ash as a kid and has been in love with him since#and she gets kinda really possessive of him and misses out on a lot of life#all in the hopes that one day ash will reciprocate her feelings#and even though ash DOES love her (even if its not romantic) he isnt good at being what rebecca needs#to the point where its like okay so why the fuck does Rebecca like him so much if he acts like this#and its pointed out that hey girl maybe you have this idealized version of your childhood friend that doesnt exist anymore#because both of you have grown up and changed a lot and youve met new people#and thinking youre meant to be with him and wasting so much of your life yearning for him isnt actually love#but rather an unhealthy obsession thats turning you into a bit of an asshole#and then rebecca has to sit on that and realize that hey maybe its true maybe she shouldnt let her world revolve around this one guy#idk just reminds me of how junpei literally wastes his whole life looking for akane#and despite her supposedly loving him she really does disregard his feelings all the time#and ignores him their whole lives#and theyve both changed so much to where its like okay junpei you dont even like akane anymore#youre just obsessed with who she used to be because she was like your best friend and first love#and youve never let yourself grow outside of her since youve based your whole identity around her#im not necessarily saying ze does that dynamic badly but i cant understand how id be expected to find them so owo cute together cuz#they arent 🤭#anyway i just wanted to remind the world that i love rebecca gales more than myself shes so fucking good
