A Still Mind and a Pumping Heart
The stillness of my mind awakens in me thoughts of cruising at low altitude with an occasional bump until reaching a higher cruising altitude
A precious thing when the mind is able to be still, to meditate, to empty one’s self of thoughts
As thoughts flow in and out be nonjudgmental
Allow them to happen and dissipate
Thoughts, not always part of our stories can be blessed and released
They have no grasp, power, or attachment unless we allow them to take root
Conscious breathing allows us to focus on the magic of life as our body takes in oxygen and expels carbon dioxide
My pumping heart indicative of a working organ that reminds me I’m living

space photography is a weird case artistically b/c it's explicitly not intended to convey what the naked human eye could perceive but a heavily processed visualisation of data. so kind of more akin to like an anatomical diagram that has all the organs laid out neatly so you can see what the hell you're doing. but then space photography is also a weird case scientifically b/c it has aesthetic dimensions that account for its popular reception & also guide the data processing. like the choice of colours, saturation, &c are intended to produce a pleasing picture, & the picture is put to rhetorical ends: usually a kind of generic humanist delight with the advancement of (gov't) space exploration. so in that sense the space photograph is specifically most like the anatomy in eg a vesalius plate: an artistic piece, used to defend a certain metaphysics wrt 'man's place in nature' &c. not exactly an untrue image but certainly an artificial one (as in: the product of artifice; of an artistic process; not intended to provide a simple 1:1 visual translation of nature but to interpret & advance an argument about it)

The Importance of Understanding Others’ Reality
When it comes to Covid, not all our immune responses will mirror the exact same response even if were to catch it twice, or we were to catch another virus. Immunity will always give a different response. When it comes to the vaccine, we can still be very poorly. It all depends on our immune response. There are no guarantees.
Covid isn't being spoken about
The politicians have stopped talking about Covid, but people are still discussing the virus, talking about their immunity on community forums, talking about their experiences. People who have caught Covid and who are vaccinated, are still talking about their different immune responses.
Natural immunity and vaccine immunity doesn't last
But natural immunity or vaccine immunity doesn’t last, and like the common cough and flu virus, immunity is constantly changing, so you may not be as immune to new versions of the virus. It’s also the same with the vaccines. Getting Covid multiple times is bad for the immune system, so it is important to take care the necessary precautions once you are better.
The virus isn't going away, and we should be more vigilant. I choose to listen to myself, more than I listen to the government. We can’t assume we’re all going to be okay if we catch Covid.
Think of others
If you’re not masking up for yourself, perhaps you can think about doing it for someone else. It's about understanding others' reality and thinking of others. You may just save someone from chronic illness, or worse case scenario, from death.
When it comes to the virus, we're being told it's not gone and still no one is safe.

3. and 11. For the ask game!!
3: what’s your favorite piece(s)?
you might think that my favorite is a piece of the brothers, but you’d be wrong…

it’s this. i wouldn’t consider it my best work, i think ive improved since this, but theres just something about it that tickles my brain. i was experimenting with a lot of new brushes while working on this and i remember how happy i was when it finally started to come together, especially when i added the slight blur on the edges.
i love how the eyes came out too, they look so shiny in a way i don’t think ive been able to replicate in my more recent stuff. maybe that’s just me tho
Tumblr media
this is a close second. soft shading my beloved
i answered 11 here!
thanks for asking 🩵

'I know that I am unworthy of what you say of me.' 'Worth has nothing to do with it,—has no bearing on it. I do not say that you are more worthy than all whom I have known. But when did worth create love? What I want is that you should believe me, and know that there is one bound to you who will never be unbound, one whom you can trust in all things,—one to whom you can confess that you have been wrong if you go wrong, and yet be sure that you will not lessen her regard.'
Anthony Trollope, from Phineas Redux

the more i draw, the more appreciation i get for just how beautiful humans are. just in general, like, different body types and facial features and everything, even small details like how a wrist bends or how the neck arches
and it makes me realize even more how shitty beauty standards are. sure, theres the commodification of people and the commercially, systemically reinforced self-hatred. but also like…
why would you ever want to limit the scope of whats beautiful? like, if you were able to choose to see more things as beautiful, why wouldnt you do that? pay attention to how fat folds into itself, how different skin colors reflect light, how nose bridges cut space into different angles, the sharp angles from bones and the blunt contours of muscle
like, isnt it all art? arent people art?

when i was in high school, hetalia was my entire personality. i spent a while just observing the fandom, and made some friends and became familiar with many other people. i felt like i had a pretty nice corner with lots of people to talk to, which felt really good because i was incredibly lonely in high school (undiagnosed adhd/autism meant i genuinely had zero friends, and no idea how to socialize enough to make them irl).
and then i got really into an incest ship, to the point that it became my all-time favorite ship from the show (and tbh, kinda still just in general). and i realized most of the people i talked to regularly were antis, and i went from enjoying the fandom and feeling like i have a place i can be myself to being incredibly paranoid about anything i did. i didn't want to lose my online friends, because they were the only social outlet i had at the time. i started drifting from the fandom after that.
and then a new season came out, and the anti-hetalia crowd ramped up their hate and harrassment again, and i became so suicidal over the show that i actually had to call a suicide hotline one night to stop myself from doing anything.
i still can't enjoy hetalia the way i used to. it holds a dear place in my heart, it was my everything as a teenager and i don't think i'll ever stop loving it. but i can't engage with the show or fanworks (both by others and myself) at all anymore, it just brings back intense feelings of fear and shame.
(the hotline situation ended up being kinda funny actually. i confused the poor woman on the other end with my niche fandom drama so much that she just gave up and hung up on me without warning. that surprised me enough to pull me out of how i was feeling, which then allowed me to realize i need to take a step back from the fandom, friendships be damned.)
