OJ got to live a full life after murdering a woman. Nicole only got to be 35 and years before she died she lived in fear and was abused by him, most of her life in fact since she met him at 18. Her family even made her reconcile with her abuser for their benefit. He was presented as a victim ffs. He didn't deserve to get to be 76 but I guess better than later.

No one is talking about the horrific hell Nicole Brown Simpson went thru even if u want to believe OJ didnt murder her. Theres horrific uncensored pics out there of her and Ron Goldman’s bodies. Theres photos of Nicole alive and bruised all over her face. Theres recordings of her calling 911 and correctly lamenting they wont do anything. It was a few months before her death.
She kept the photos, audio, and a journal of his abuse in a safe lockbox on advice of domestic abuse experts. When he murdered her OJ had the balls to claim she was lying and america shrugged and went cool we believe u juice.
On top of it if u werent alive the black community celebrated the legit racism of white (esp laps) cops being exposed but they did so at the expensive of a white woman who was murdered. Many who celebrated when he walked free said 15 years later oh um yeah i regret that now. Its also been said Simpson beat his first (black) wife. She just escaped and kept quiet.
I wanted an article that summarized all this for those not alive back then (i was 8). Couldnt find the best so heres a few:
After he skated free their kids were shared custody between Nicole’s parents and OJ. He kept them close and those who know them said the kids were convinced he was wronged. They stayed close to him. I assume the family named who were at his side when he died were the children

Note
where OJ Simpson died , what your thoughts on his abuse of his two wives and nicole brown and rod goldman's families , i know every women of color experience domestic violence , i saw black women cheer that oj is dead, has gotten away from murder
I wish I had something more poignant to say, but when I heard about OJ Simpson’s death the only things I thought about were,
1) Nicole Brown Simpson. She was a victim of femicide, and unfortunately,
2) I cannot help but remember how fucking mad white people were. Literally for years afterwards. And I’m not trying to excuse OJ or anything, but I was a kid when all that happened. Like not even a teenager. And I remember being interrogated by my white school mates, and I also remember being treated a lot more harshly than normal by my white teachers (lol, and I can count on one finger the number of Black teachers I had from kindergarten to high school)
For clarity, I dO believe that OJ murdered Nicole and her boyfriend and I am not making excuses for OJ
I just keep thinking about how the L.A. riots happened only two years prior, and how A LOT of the racist cops involved in OJ’s arrest were patently racist — they caught Mark Furman on audio tape freely slinging the n-word, and other (white) cops were totes cool with that
White people were sO fucking angry. Like, not angry because a woman was murdered, but because it was a Black man who murdered her, a literal blonde haired Guinevere
It was the same kind of whitelash that got Emmett Till murdered, and the same kind of white anger that landed the Central Park 5 and countless other Black men in prison. If Nicole was a Black woman (or if OJ was white), I doubt white people would have even taken notice
Again, I’m not caping for OJ Simpson. He definitely murdered Nicole, and there isn’t a poor Black man alive who would have gotten off like OJ did
FWIW, I personally do not know any Black women who cheered at his death, but then again, his death is a non-issue and it hasn’t come up too much (not at all, really) amongst my family and friends, and it’s almost beyond my generation
And I just wanted to add some context for the jury verdict that let him off the hook, because in my experience there’s this unwritten cultural thing in America where, whenever any non-Black person asks a Black person about OJ, they are really just expecting a simple admonition of “bad dark skinned Black man,” without digging any deeper and recognizing context like what had just happened to Rodney King and the L.A. riots —they ask Black people about OJ kind of like how whenever a media pundit “randomly” asks every single Muslim they encounter if they condemn Hamas)
(SN: And even if OJ hadn’t murder anyone, I never liked him ever since I read where he once said, “I’m not Black, I’m OJ” … I genuinely detest other Black people who are so desperate for the white gaze that they hate their own Blackness and would sell out Black people for their own self enrichment)
It’s wild af that every time I’ve heard about his death, it’s like listening to a highlight reel of his career, almost without any mention of Nicole or Ron Goldman’s murders
The United States has a big fucking problem with femicide
And misogyny
And racism
And racialized misogyny
I would say that OJ’s death would be a great opportunity to raise awareness about femicide and domestic violence and intimate partner violence, but America is so blind or indifferent to the role that ingrained racism plays, I wouldn’t trust the disproportionately overwhelmingly white media to not fumble it
Yeah, anyway, I have always believed that if the police hadn’t had such a long ass + well documented history of being abject liars and racists, Nicole might have gotten the justice she deserved
I hope that OJ’s death brings some semblance of peace to the families of Nicole and Ron

It is always the same. It happens to women as different as Nicole Simpson, Lorena Bobbitt - and me. There is terror, yes, and physical pain. There is desperation and despair. One blames oneself, forgives him. One judges oneself harshly for not loving him enough. "It's your fault," he shouts as he is battering in the door, or slamming your head against the floor. And before you pass out, you say yes. You run, but no one will hide you or stand up for you. You will hide behind bushes, trashcans, in alleys, away from the decent people who aren't helping you. It is, after all, your fault..
He hurts you more: more than last time and more than you ever thought possible; certainly more than any reasonable person would ever believe - should you be foolish enough to tell. And, eventually, you surrender to him, apologize, beg him to forgive you for hurting him or provoking him or insulting him or being careless with something of his - his laundry, his car, his meal.
The shame of this physical capitulation, often sexual, and the betrayal of your self-respect will never leave you, and the violence becomes contextual, the element in which you try to survive. You will try to run away, plan an escape. If he finds out, or finds you, he will hurt you more.
If you can't find shelter or have no work, you will go back and ask him to let you in. If you work, he will find you. He may ask for you back and make promises of repentance. But if you do stay away, he will strike out of nowhere, still beat you, still vandalize your home and stalk you.

When I was being beaten by a shrewd and dangerous man twenty-five years ago, I know I was buried alive in a silence that was unbreachable and unbearable, so I can only imagine how Nicole felt.
Nicole called a battered-women's shelter five days before her death. Evidence of the attacks on her by Simpson that were witnessed in public will be allowed at trial. But most of what a batterer does is in private. The worst beatings, the sustained acts of sadism, have no witnesses.

As Malcolm X used to say, "by any means necessary" - a principle women, all women, had better learn. A woman has a right to her own bed, a home she can't be thrown out of, and for her body not to be ransacked and broken into. She has a right to expect her family and friends to stop the batterer - by law or force - before she's dead. She has a constitutional right to a gun and a legal right to kill if she believes she's going to be killed. And a batterer's repeated assaults should lawfully be taken as intent to kill. Everybody's against wife abuse, but who's prepared to stop it?

Griffin Dunne’s statement on the death of OJ Simpson. His father, author and journalist Dominick Dunne, famously covered the trial for Vanity Fair.
The statement reads:
As O.J. shuffles off his mortal coil to spend his first night in Hell, I can't help but wish my father were alive to share the news. The first picture is his look of utter shock at the reading of the not guilty verdict. He is sitting with the Browns and Nicole's family. Covering the trial and its outcome took a terrible toll on him emotionally. The second is when I visited him at O.J.'s 2nd trail in Las Vegas for kidnapping and stealing sports memorabilia shit.I'm there because the day before I heard on the radio that Dad had collapsed in the courtroom and I caught a plane from LA an hour later. He was fine by the time I arrived. If the 2 trials could be put in movie terms, the first one was like the opening of Star Wars. The one in Vegas was like very low budget porno shoot. The defendants were the sleeziest group of con men l ever saw. O.J. wandered the hallways during the break, desperate for someone to talk to. When he saw me he said, "Hey Griffin, love your work!" The reflexive response when an actor tells you this is "love yours too" but since he was also a murderer I was too dumbstruck to say a thing and wandered off. Thanks to Jordan Blossey and @consideritdunnegriffin for finding these pics.

NYT obit: "O.J. Simpson, Football Star Whose Trial Riveted the Nation, Dies at 76"
The NYT burying Simpson's victims. They're very specific the sport he played but his trial could have been about mortgage fraud.
More accurate:
"OJ Simpson, Football Star Found Not Guilty in Wife's Murder, Dies at 76"
"OJ Simpson, Beloved Sports Star Convicted of Spousal Abuse, Dies at 76"
"OJ Simpson, Good-Guy Reputation Ruined by Acts of Violence, Dies at 76"

OJ Simspon and Nicole Brown Simpson
Tumblr media
(I know thid GIF of Madea seems inappropriate, but there's a reason why I'm using it!)
Trigger warning: Domestic violence
Please contact 1-800-799-7233 if you or someone you know is in a domestic violence situation.
Cancer finally did to OJ what God couldn't do! Now, OJ is rotting in hell. If that's too harsh, then oh, well! It's where OJ belongs!
I was 14 years old when the news broke on that June day back in 1994. I was 15 years old when the verdict came back as not guilty.
Follow this:
OJ Simpson started dating Nicole Brown in 1977. She was 18 years old. He beat her the first time. The abuse NEVER stopped! She was still a teenager, and the abuse NEVER stopped.
Fast forward to 1985. They were married. She was 26 years old. She also had the couples first child, Sydney, in 1985. He made comments about her weight. She was pregnant, and weight gain is important not only for mom, but also for the baby. You have more than a baby. You have an amniotic sac and a placenta, so a mother-to-be needs calories and nutrients for a pregnancy to be normal and healthy.
The abuse NEVER stopped. No matter what she did to please him, the abuse NEVER stopped.
Fast forward to 1988, when their second child was born. The abuse NEVER stopped.
Fast forward to New Years Day, 1989. The abuse wasn't going to stop! OJ was screaming at her, threatening her, and was hitting her, to the point where the police were called. The arresting officer was forced to let him go. OJ told his friends on the LAPD that he was the victim. That is typical for any abuser!
Fast forward to 1992. Nicole files for divorce from OJ, hoping to get away from him. Her devout Catholic parents plead with her to reconcile. She does, due to parental pressure and religious pressure. Still, the abuse NEVER stops!
Fast forward to October 1993, one year after Nicole filed for and was granted a divorce. OJ stalked her while they separated, even breaking into her rented house at one point. This was not the first incident! This was one of many over the year long period.
Nicole called 911, yet again. She reported the incident yet again. He was going to "beat the shit out of her" yet again. OJ was yelling at her and making threats in the background. Yes, audio of this can be tracked down. They were reconciling, which given the past incidents, is a stupid thing to do, but this isn't unusual for anyone in a violent and toxic relationship. It has a lot to do with trauma bonding. Still, the abuse NEVER stopped.
Fast forward to January, 1994. Nicole leaves for good this time. Nicole was renting a home in Brentwood. Everything at that point was going to be about the kids and her sisters and her family. She was finally becoming free from OJ. Plans were made. Plans that included camping, going to Yosemite, to go hiking, go to Club Med, go on vacations, day trips, etc. OJ was also stalking Nicole, and the abuse NEVER stopped. The stalking NEVER stopped.
Fast forward to April, 1994. Nicole meets Ron Goldman. The two start a platonic relationship. Keep in mind that there's a ten year age gap, so a platonic relationship makes a lot of sense. Not just for Nicole, who's navigating life as a single parent, she's navigating life without her abuser for the first time in 15 years. For Ron, who was a waiter, it also made sense. The abuse and the stalking NEVER stopped.
Fast forward to June 12, 1994. Ron Goldman and Nicole Brown are stabbed multiple times by someone hiding in the bushes of Nicole's house. It was believed to be OJ's oldest son. Everyone had just come back from dinner after the daughter's dance recital. Her mother forgot her reading glasses at the Mezza Luna restaurant, so Ron brought them back. The coroner found defensive wounds on Nicole. She was almost decapitated! Ron couldn't get away, he was trying to protect Nicole by screaming "Hey!" as a way to get OJ's attention, hoping that he would run away. The abuse finally stops!
Fast forward to September 13, 1994. President Bill Clinton signs the Violence Against Women Act of 1994.
Fast forward to October 3, 1995. The trial lasts for 11 months. Now, murder trials aren't cut and dry as they are on Law and Order, they're not solved in an hour. Instead, these can take months. The verdict is read as "Not Guilty". White people were just gutted and appalled, while black people were cheering. Celebrity had EVERYTHING to do with this trial. Domestic violence victims were even cheering at the verdict, which was even more disgusting.
During all of this, there were 62 incidents of abuse that were documented by Nicole Brown Simpson. She kept diaries of the abuse. She took pictures of herself after OJ beat her. She kept her important documents, and the diaries of abuse in a safety deposit box at a local bank. (If you're in that situation, please keep your important documents in a safety deposit box, along with recorded incidents of abuse.) You can see in photos that she doesn't have any life in her, any light in her. She looks like a scared animal. The smile isn't even there. Her eyes are scared and sad.
The legal system failed her. The criminal justice failed her. Her parents were fighting for custody so that their grandchildren could be away from this monster. It would have been a matter of time before OJ started to abuse his kids with Nicole. The family court system failed the Browns and the kids.
Celebrity won. OJ got away with murder. In my opinion, OJ is a typical narcissist and a typical batterer. I watched that interview he did back in 2017 or 2018 on FOX. My opinion hasn't changed.
