Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate the new terminal of Chennai airport on Saturday, built at ₹ 1,260 crore.

New Delhi: The new integrated terminal building of the Chennai airport sports a swanky look reflecting the Tamil culture, shows photos released by the authorities. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate the new terminal on Saturday, which has been built at a cost of ₹ 1,260 crore.

"The new integrated terminal building at Chennai Airport, spanning an area of 2,20,972 sqm, is set to cater to the growing air traffic in the state of Tamil Nadu. It's also a reflection of the government's commitment towards providing high-quality infrastructure to travellers," the civil aviation ministry tweeted.

The T-2 (Phase-1) building will increase the airport's passenger capacity from 23 million to 30 million per year.

PM Modi shared the glimpses of the new terminal on Twitter and said it will be an important addition to Chennai's infrastructure. "It will boost connectivity and also benefit the local economy," he tweeted.

Anyway regardless of how you feel about the Royals, even if you’re like me and think they’re all parasites, here are some things to remember:

The UK taxpayer is funding Kate’s high-end treatments whilst millions of citizens are on years-long NHS waiting lists for their own treatments and waiting hours upon hours to be seen in A&E when they’ve had a severe incident; so much money that could be going towards funding the NHS properly is instead going to the Royals. Kate is very likely going to be perfectly fine. Millions of regular tax-paying UK citizens will not.

HOWEVER. Kate isn’t going to see your memes making fun of her on tumblr dot com — but other people whom have suffered because of cancer will. If common decency won’t stop you from posting crab rave GIFs celebrating the illness of a mother to three young children, hopefully the chance of someone else with cancer or with a friend or relative with cancer seeing it will.
