I can't take Naruto seriously sometimes because I have to laugh at some of the "omg this kid must be a genius" moments of the manga.

Most of the time it's so painfully clear those are just kids. Confused, desperate, traumatized to no end, scared. Kids that want to believe in a greater good to justify the violence they commit. Kids, just kids. They don't know who to trust, they get manipulated, they make me want to tear apart the adults in their lives and scream and cry an—

Shisui's solution to stop the Uchiha coup was to brainwash Fugaku and to be honest? Fugaku was not even half the problem. The problem was that the Uchiha prejudice had reached unparalleled levels, that the system was stepping on them and had been stepping on them since Hashirama was still alive. There's no way that the clan would have stayed quiet, even if Fugaku ordered them to not follow the plan.

Shisui was smart for his age but he was desperate and he was scared and he was, at the end of the day, just a teenager. That's why he got killed by Danzo. That's why he suicided and left the burden to Itachi to carry.

Itachi was a kid too. Fuck the genius title, it is complete bullshit in Naruto. He thought that the solution was to follow Hiruzen's plan because he was so traumatized by war, he would do literally anything to avoid it. But massacring his whole clan was any better? Didn't he kill innocent people all the same? Didn't he prolong the suffering of Konoha? Hiruzen had the audacity to say that Itachi was wise as a kage in his young age, which is stupid and shows what Hiruzen thinks a kage is and how they should think.

Shisui and Itachi were not geniuses. They were kids / teenagers who happened to be more ways to mold and turn into weapons. That they were smart doesn't mean they were adults.

Neji? He was strong, he was smart and mature. He was one of the best members of the Hyuga clan at 12 years old, a pattern shared with Shisui and Itachi. However, the Chuning Exams made it very clear that Neji was as lost and confused and hollow as the rest of those "geniuses". He was lied to. It's a tradition at this point: how much info do you think they are keeping away from you so that you behave like they want you to behave?

Kakashi? He said it himself that he was stupid for believing he was such a big deal, when in fact his attitude didn't help him save his teammates or properly train his students. The genius title only served to cause him pain. In the Naruto universe, people assume you are immune to emotions or being your age if you're a genius, it seems.

"This kid is a genius" and then the story proceeds to show them making a terrible decision that is not even theirs, it's the system playing with them.

I’m just….UGH NEJI WOULD’VE BEEN THE IDEAL FATHER AND BORUTO WOULD’VE LOOKED UP TO NEJI AS A FATHER FIGURE WHILE NARUTO WAS BUSY…KISHI COPPED OUT WITH THIS ONE….there I said it with my whole chest.

As you can see, Meiten can be a bit stabby-hotheaded-pants like her mother sometimes… Their kids may mostly look like Neji but their personalities are definitely Tenten. They have their work cut out for them for sure!

Just some quick sketches of the kids. I’m missing ChouChou and Inojin but they would’ve made up the squad.

i think all of team gai was the weird kids in the academy, even neji- who we usually assume to have gotten the sasuke popular kid treatment, which is believable but i think he might've been the weird quiet kid. somebody that the other kids don't really bully but they generally stay away from because he's a little off. maybe a few obnoxious kids might try to poke at him and get a reaction, which he would ignore until they get on his nerves too hard and, despite not being one to talk much, reads them to filth in front of everybody and then continues silently doing whatever he was doing. neji also wasn't popular with girls like sasuke was because the girls were a little scared of him. he'd just sit outside in the same spot every day seemingly staring at nothing and that was enough to creep everyone out. he kinda looked like a ghost too with his pale skin and eyes and long dark hair. and when he did open his mouth, he always said something really strange and used words nobody else their age understood. just an all around weirdo

I realized recently that this blog had its 5th birthday back in August. So this is sort of a celebratory redraw of maybe the first drawing I posted, aptly titled: Naruto's harem. It exists in an alternative universe in my brain where Neji is alive and thriving and is being an awesome uncle to Naruto and Hinata's kids; Shikamaru/Temari are nomadic diplomats neither of which have to give up their homeland nor their day jobs for the other; and Sasuke is still a wandering deep-state agent, presumably (can you tell I haven't read the sequel?); and they all help run the village behind the scene.

Now have I improved? The more I draw the more I realize how limited my abilities are, but it's fun nonetheless to create and share the worms in my head <3 Thank you all for looking at my stuff and liking/reblogging and yelling about them in the tags/comments and decided that I'm worth following; I do see them all and appreciate all of them so much. I'm just not good with words <33333

I was craving some wholesome stuff between Neji, Hinata and Hanabi and there is so little?!

Now I really want to work on my rewrite of the last. The version for my AU!

Neji joins the rescue mission, he kinda inserted himself and Kakashi was genuinely afraid to tell him to stay in the leave. She is main family yes, but first and foremost she is Nejis baby sister cousin.

There’s some conflict at the start since Neji just moved out of the compound and in with Naruto. Hinata has less time getting proper training to be the next head of the clan and Hanabi feels like she’s being left behind.

In the end instead of Naruto beating Toneri it’s Hinata and Neji together. Naruto does take care of that giant with Kurama tho.

In the end the three also talk about it. Hinata promises to spent more time with Hanabi, so does Neji and he promises them that they are always welcome at his home. Naruto won’t mind (he really doesn’t he loves /p those two).

Another fun idea I had would be set sometime after this. I love time travel stories and the potential to sent these three to the chunin exams (or sometime around there) would be peak comedy. Neji hates the little him. Everyone was right. He had a stick up his ass. He wants to punch him but Hinata keeps telling him he can’t. Hanabi wants to see him do it.
