Michael Ross, at the age of 26, in 2005, had a wife and two daughters and was living in Inverness.
Michael Ross, who murdered Indian waiter Shamsuddin Mahmood in the Orkney Islands when he was 15, haopened in 1994. His targeted act of violence was cold and professional, and a good marksman.
Edmund Ross, his father, had tried to obstruct justice in his son's case, and had also lied to police officers.
Could either Michael Ross or Edmund Ross be linked to the murder of Alistair Wilson?
Some witnesses have described the suspect in Alistair's murder to have been 5 ft 7inch tall, between 20 and 40 years old. Edmund Ross is 6 ft. Alistair's murder happened in 2004, while Mahmood's murder was earlier in 1994.
Michael Ross was older at that time, so could have fit the description of the suspect in the Alistair Wilson murder?

Our nairn holiday 2024.
We’ve just spent 2 weeks in the lovely nairn lochy holiday park in Scotland. Its the 5th time we’ve visited here and as ever we had a lovely time. The holiday started with a 13 hour drive travelling overnight. We had a few more stops this time and that made a huge difference. We brought our own snacks with us and brought a coffee from mcdonalds or greggs to keep the costs down. The holiday camp…

Con O’Neill, MCM Comic Con panel with Nathan Foad and Kristian Nairn, London May 27, 2023
Q: As someone who was a teenager for Section 28 Part 1, I just want to [...] say a massive thank you for speaking up about Section 28 Part 2. What's it been like at the moment, working on a show that has got such cool and interesting things to say about gender broadly and masculinity more specifically?

Everybody shut the fuck up. Wee John in this outfit is all I'm thinking about until season 2.
I forget what Kristian's drag name was but I'm so happy for him getting to live this out in the period comedy pirate show.

Nairn - April 2023

In Nairn, Scotland, Alistair Wilson was preparing to end his job at Bank of Scotland. He was fired when he had exposed their loan strategy, causing a large bailout. He was two weeks away from starting somewhere new. It was 2004 and he was at home with his wife and two young children when he heard a knock at the door. When his wife answered the door, the man asked for Alistair Wilson. Alistair went down to talk to the man. The man handed him a blue envelope with the name Paul on the front, leading Alistair to go up and hand it to his wife. Oddly, the envelope was empty. When he went back down to see the man, confused, he was shot three times, killing him. The man then walked away. Some people have wondered if the man was a professional hit man. Police found the murder weapon, but not the man.
The last murder in Nairn before Alistair Wilson's death in 2004, had been in 1986 when one wedding guest stabbed another. The town had 11,000 residents at the time and everyone knew each other. Some wondered if the man was from Inverness, as one witness said a man coming off the train from Inverness made them uneasy.
The murder weapon, a Haenel Schmeisser, a German handgun, was found in a drain not far from Alistair Wilson's home.
In 2005, Peter Bleksley, who wrote a book about the murder, said he felt it was a hit, and thought maybe the Bank of Scotland could have been involved. But the case is still unsolved, and there are still many questions. He writes:
The Scottish Highland seaside town of Nairn came to prominence in Victorian times. Back in its heyday, royalty would come to stay. The actor Charlie Chaplin could be spotted around town, enjoying his holidays. Many were drawn by the fact that Nairn enjoys a more temperate climate than many Highland locations and occupies an idyllic spot on the coast of the Moray Firth. The dolphins, birds and other wildlife are an attraction for many. Gloriously unspoilt, the beach stretches for miles. Inverness Airport is a mere ten-minute drive away. Not surprisingly perhaps, Alistair and Veronica Wilson chose it as the place to raise their family. In 2002, they paid for a three story, double fronted sandstone house that dominates Crescent Road. Rising high above the other properties in the road, the nine towering chimney pots of number 10 give an indication as to how many rooms lie within. In the past it had been a hotel. A three minute walk from what was once Alistair's front door would find you with sand beneath your feet. Their eldest son was four at the time.
