As much as I’m excited about 60th anniversary specials, David Tennant AND Catherine Tate coming back, RTD taking over again, Ncuti Gatwa as the new doctor etc do you know what I am most excited for? 3 words:
Murray Gold’s return
Sometimes just thinking about it makes me vibrate with joy and anticipation
That man is a pure and utter GENIUS and honestly wrote some of the best soundtracks ever. his music is purely magical and just so so good. The mixture of genres, how the music actually tells the story and perfectly encapsulates the characters personality is masterful. He has the epic tracks, the dramatic pieces, the contemplative ones, the bittersweet - I don’t know how but he does it all. There is also something so `’doctor who” about his music which is so iconic, I cannot explain
The new themes (60th anniversary, 15th doctors and Ruby Sunday’s) are FIRE and by god, I can’t wait for another whole dw era with his music

We’re Family
I thought this scene from The Bad Batch season 2 episode 9 was similar to this scene in Coco. Even the scores for the two scenes are titled similarly: “We’re a Family” by Kevin Kiner for Bad Batch, and “Somos Familia” by Michael Giacchino for Coco. Both beautiful scenes and scores.

Not even just *THAT* song it's just perfectly warmly Christmassy. It's one of the reasons I keep coming back to this short

Wendy Carlos pictured with the Moog System 55 a staple in her solo projects and iconic film scores, including for Stanley Kubrick's 'A Clockwork Orange' (1972)
One of electronic music's most important figures, Wendy Carlos is a true pioneer of the craft with countless influential albums and scores. She provided technical advice and insights to Robert Moog during the development of the Moog Synthesizer, an instrument that would revolutionize the music landscape. Her album 'Sonic Seasonings' (1972) is an early example of an ambient record, blending the then-new synth with field recordings to create an entirely new listening experience — years before the term "ambient" was even coined!

Rainbow Flyer Sacrifice
I found another Tech/Pixar, Kevin Kiner/Michael Giacchino parallel.
Bing Bong's sacrifice in Inside Out is very similar to Tech's in The Bad Batch s2 e16: Plan 99. While many stories have similar sacrifices, Bing Bong's is what I thought about when Tech made his sacrifice.
The music scores are similar to each other as well: a still, gentle rhythm swelling to an emotional crescendo! This act of selflessness being expressed in music is powerful.
(The Sacrifice by Kevin Kiner in The Bad Batch, and Rainbow Flyer by Michael Giacchino in Inside Out)

Thinking about how the Looney Tunes theme(s) are actually just instrumentals of pop songs from the time, and of how much we’d be robbed if that stayed common practice for cartoons all throughout their history.

Ryan Gosling - I'm Just Ken 2023
"I'm Just Ken" is a song performed by Canadian actor Ryan Gosling for the 2023 film Barbie. It was written and produced by Mark Ronson and Andrew Wyatt and appears on the soundtrack album Barbie the Album. After Gosling recorded his vocals, Ronson sent the track to Guns N' Roses guitarist Slash, who found it "cool" and agreed to play guitar on the song. Guitarist Wolfgang Van Halen and Foo Fighters drummer Josh Freese also played on the track.
It won Best Song at the 29th Critics' Choice Awards and was nominated for Best Song Written for Visual Media at the 66th Annual Grammy Awards and Best Original Song at the 96th Academy Awards.
Gosling performed the song live at the 96th Academy Awards on March 10, 2024. The performance paid homage to the "Diamonds are a Girl's Best Friend" sequence from the 1953 film adaptation of the stage musical Gentlemen Prefer Blondes starring Marilyn Monroe. Gosling was joined by Ronson on bass, Wyatt on piano, and Wolfgang Van Halen and Slash on guitar, as well as his Barbie co-stars Simu Liu, Ncuti Gatwa, Kingsley Ben-Adir, and Scott Evans. The performance was choreographed by Mandy Moore, who also choreographed Gosling in La La Land.
70,7% felt the kenergy! Previous Ryan Gosling polls: #15 "Put Me in the Car"
