You're Safe Little One
Cordelia Goode x Ally Mayfair x Wilhelmina Enable x reader (mother/daughter)
“What are we going to do?!” Zoe shouts looking down at Madison who is passed out on the bathroom floor.
“I’m going to have to call my mom.” You sighed reaching for your phone.
“Are you insane?!” Zoe shouts grabbing your phone.
“Cordelia will be so pissed, and Mina might kill us all.”
“I know that’s why I’m calling Ally!” You yelled at her snatching your phone back.
Zoe rolls her eyes “You think Ally isn’t going to tell them?”
“She will tell them but at least she won’t freak out on me until tomorrow. Plus we need to get out of here those guys Madison met are giving me the creeps. And I’m feeling dizzy, I think they drugged us, Zoe.”
“What do you mean?”
“I don’t know something just doesn’t feel right. I’m calling Ally.”
Zoe nods as she goes back to Madison to check on her. Meanwhile, you waited for Ally to pick up breathing heavily as the phone rang.
“Hey, honey.” She answers.
“Ally.”
“What’s wrong love?” She asked.
Damn, how did she know just by your voice? You think to yourself.
“Can you please pick me, Zoe, and Madison up? I know you’ll be mad but we’re at this party and there are some guys here and they’re giving me bad vibes. And they gave us drinks but Ally I don’t feel good. Something is wrong. And Mads is passed out and I can’t wake her up.”
“Where are you?”
“I can send you my location. We are all three locked in the bathroom. But ally..please hurry. And please don’t bring Mom and Momma. I know you guys will be mad but I don’t feel comfortable here.” You tell her.
“I’ll be right there,” Ally says hanging up the phone. You let out a breath of relief as you ended the phone call.
“So we’re good?” Zoe asked.
“Yeah. Ally’s cool. We will be fine.” You said giving her a small smile as you tried to center yourself.
It was not fine an hour later you felt worse and then you heard the door slam open and instantly you knew.
“Y/n y/m/n y/l/n!!!” The voice echoed throughout the house.
“Fuck.” You mumbled unlocking the bathroom door to see Cordelia, Mina, and Ally standing there.
“Ally.” You whined.
“Don’t blame her you know better!” Cordelia shouts. Looking over she sees Madison lying on the ground.
“Shit Madison.” She sighs walking towards her and leaving you with Ally and Mina.
“Did those boys hurt you?” Mina asked looking over at the group of young boys.
“No ma’am. I just got a weird vibe from them so I called Ally to bring us home.”
“Well I’m proud of you for that but I’m also extremely disappointed in you. Not only for drinking but for calling Ally and putting her in an impossible position.”
“I know.” You whispered bowing your head.
“You and Zoe go to the car. We will be there in a few.” She says.
You and Zoe nod your heads as you walk past her towards the car. Walking past Ally you stopped and whispered “I’m sorry Al.”
Ally nods as you walked past her sighing a bit as she watches Mina and Cordelia yell at the group of boys. Once Cordelia was able to lift Madison she walked to the car putting her in the back seat. Before they can leave Ally stops the older women.
“Listen I know she’s in trouble and she could have gotten hurt but let’s try to remember that they’re just teenagers before we make any decisions.”
“What’s your point?” Mina asked.
“My point is go back and remember what it was like to be 15. When I was her age I never would have called my parents. No matter what was going on. I didn’t trust them enough. All I’m saying is cut her some slack, please. She knew something was wrong and she called.”
“She called you!” Mina shouts.
“And maybe you should ask yourself why!” Ally shouts back.
“Because she thought you would lie to us. Because you’re the cool parent.” Mina scoffs.
“She knew I would tell you both eventually. She called me because she knew I would come no questions asked.” Ally says.
Cordelia sighs” She’s right Mina. We can both be a little hard on her. We expect a lot from y/n.”
Mina sighs “Clearly not hard enough. Look where we are. She could have been hurt!”
“Yes, but she called before it got that far. So maybe Ally is right, she should be cut some slack.”
“Let’s go home,” Mina mumbled walking to the car.
The ride home was spent in silence. The three women each had thoughts running around their minds. Madison and Zoe were passed out but you couldn’t sleep. Maybe it was the drugs or your anxiety but you couldn’t close your eyes.
Once you reached the academy Zoe and Madison wake up enough to walk to their rooms with the help of Myrtle and Misty. You stayed behind because you knew the night was nowhere near over for you. The three women sighed a breath of relief before heading straight into the living room.
“Y/n come here,” Cordelia calls out. You sighed walking into the room.
The three of them were sitting on the couch. Cordelia opens her arms out to you. “Come here, honey.”
You nod as you sit in her lap and she wraps her arms around you.
“Are you okay?”
You shake your head no. After everything that happened tonight, you finally broke once you realized you were safe.
“I’m sorry. I know I shouldn’t have gone to that party. But it was fine at first until they gave us the drinks. The boys kept looking at us and asking if we were okay but I knew something was wrong. The room was spinning and once I realized Madison passed out I told Zoe I was calling Ally. I knew Ally would tell you guys but I didn’t want you to come and see me like that. I just wanted to come home. I’m sorry Mom.” You said crying into her shoulder.
“It’s alright baby you’re home now. You’re safe.” Cordelia says softly.
“I know I disappointed all of you. I’m so sorry.” You cried.
“Honey, you're young things like this happen. But I am very proud of you for calling me.” Ally says with a smile.
You returned the smile to her as you looked over at Mina. The thought of disappointing any of your moms was hard for you but especially when it came to the redhead.
“Momma... I…I’m sorry. I know you expect more from me and I let you down. I’ll do better I promise.” You tell her looking down at your feet feeling ashamed for letting her down.
“Little one look at me please,” Mina calls out.
Lifting your head slowly you make eye contact with her.
“When Ally told me what was going on I was so angry. I went there with every intention of yelling at you and causing a scene. And yes I was disappointed. But more than anything I was scared. Scared that something had or was going to happen to my little girl. I felt out of control and that scared me. Because I never want you to get to hurt. The thought of those boys hurting you frightened me. I know I’m hard on you. And I know that you worry that you’re letting me down. But that is far from the truth. You make me so happy and so proud to call myself your mother. And tonight I was extremely proud of you. Not only for calling for help but for taking care of Madison and Zoe and keeping the three of you safe until we got there. I love you sweetheart and I just want to always keep you safe that’s all. “
“I know. But still, I’m sorry Momma.”
“I know dear. Come here.” She says opening her arms out to you.
You crawled into her lap laying your head on her shoulder as you cried. The three women sat in silence as you cried. Each thanking the gods that you were safe but also thinking about what could have happened if they hadn’t gotten there in time.
“Momma I don’t feel good.” You whispered.
“How much did you drink?”
“Only one. I swear. I feel sleepy. “
“It's the drugs,” Ally states looking at the other women.
“They drugged them for sure. We all know Madison is a heavy drinker and she was out cold. Zoe mentioned Madison only had two drinks. Those boys had an agenda for sure.”
“ They’re lucky I didn’t kill them.” Mina growls.
“Agreed. But for now, let’s focus on the girls. I’ll have Myrtle and Misty stay with Zoe and Madison and we will take y/n to our room for the night. “ Cordelia says.
“Sounds like a plan,” Ally says standing up.
“Let me carry her Mina,” Ally says taking you out of the redhead's lap.
You groaned trying to focus on Ally but your eyes were too heavy.
“Ally?” You questioned.
“I’ve got you sweet girl. Everything is okay.” She cooed carrying you upstairs to their bedroom.
Once Cordelia and Mina checked on the other girls the three women laid down in bed with you. They watched over you as you slept peacefully.
“Some many things could have happened tonight.” Mina sighed caressing your cheek.
“True. But she’s safe now and that is all that matters.” Cordelia whispered.
“I know but..”
“Mina,” Ally calls out to her holding her hand tightly.
“She’s safe love. She’s alright.”
Mina nods her head as she bends down to kiss your forehead.
“You’re safe little one.”

It's one am so I can ramble semi-coherently! My current obsession: Glad0s, Chell and Caroline.
Look. I know that half of the community is fully onboard with the ship Chelldos. While the other half is more hyped the Glados is Caroline and Caroline is Chell's mother.
But! Hear me out. As an aroace who craves hurt/comfort and fluff, I have an alternative.
Caroline is both Chell's AND Glados' mom.
I mean... come on! I love the headcanon of Chell being adopted by Cave and Caroline (or at least Caroline) and become a test subject later. And the insults Glados is throwing at Chell remind me a lot of my own banters with my sibling: you are fat, you are stupid, you are adopted, I do everything in this house, I better than you, do this and I will give you my cake... Plus, the fact that Caroline is part of what makes Glados Glados and is her moral, it's very motherly themed.
So here's where I am currently in the wonderful world of headcanons:
Chell is left on Aperture Science's doorstep as a baby and Caroline decided to adopt her with the help of Cave because a woman without a man couldn't adopt a kid back then. Cave is pretty the absent father while Caroline is the overworked but loving mom. Chell grew up in a very smart lady since she was raised showered with Science.
When Cave died, Chell just reached her majority and is tricked by the scientists to enter the testing program since Caroline would have done everything to keep her away of that with how many deaths there were. She was put into crypsleep the same day her mother was put into Glados.
While Chell is asleep, Glados as a sentient being was slowly built with ai code, Caroline's presence into her system and a lot of unfair punishments from the scientists. Especially since they thought Caroline died since she didn't manifest as herself in Glados' body. The truth is that Glados blocked her the moment they started putting cores on her, treating all of it as parasites.
Portal 1 and 2 happens. And Glados, not forced by the mainframe to act as cruel and sadistic and without the power to keep Caroline away, the woman started to fuse with Glados' mind. Of course, Glados didn't like that. And she deleted Caroline.
Here comes my theory! Little disclaimer: I don't say any other interpretation is wrong. I don't shame people who ship Chelldos. I don't think what I'm going to say is canon.
For me, the opera turret is not sung vy Glados since she has her little ending credits song. No. The voice actor of Glados, Ellen McLain, interprets another character here: Caroline.
My idea is that Glados can't delete Caroline, this is the opposite of why she was built in the first place. I think she deleted her link to her to stop her for invading her mind, giving her full freedom in the Aperture's system. And Caroline sings for her first daughter as a finale goodbye, controlling the turrets. (I think Caroline was the one controlling the Oracle turret too, how would it know all about Caroline then?).
I would love to see (or write) more fluff about Caroline being set free and takkng care of both her daughters.
Chell is Caroline's daughter because Caroline adopted her and raised her.
Glados is Caroline's daughter because part of who she is as a sentient beingcomes from Caroline and Caroline gave her a moral compass like a mother would educate her child.
I love these women so much!

. . . when viewing television commercials that celebrated the ostensibly unconditional love of mothers for their children, or on spotting merchandise in stores that honored this unique bond with poems or effusive declarations—picture frames, magnets, oven mitts—she had felt like a foreign exchange student observing the customs of another country.

Fluffy Feburary [2024], Day 27 Prompt- Protect @fluffyfebruary
Edaline was a mother, and that meant that her child's protection came first. And when Sophie had first appeared she knew she'd been hesitant, but seeing how she interacted with the animals made the choice for her- all she'd had to do then was convince Grady.
And convince him she did, and the years passed by as Sophie grew up before her eyes. But she was still her mother and her duty was to protect her baby.
But it was moments like these that all of the pain was worth it. When Sophie was sat in front of her and Edaline carefully did up her hair, Sophie talking about her day and how it went. Times when Sophie could just be a normal child and not an experiment.
So yes, Edaline adored her daughter and would do everything in her power to protect her.

Appointments of Emotion
Worry and fear consume Scully while she’s pregnant. Her mother wants to help, but will Scully let her see her when she’s most vulnerable?
A conversation I had with a friend, discussing how Scully and Maggie would navigate the delicate balance of Scully's pregnancy, and it led me to write this story. I hope you all enjoy it. 💓
Tumblr media
“Mom, you didn’t need to bring so much,” Scully said, looking at the bags of groceries her mother had brought, needing to make a second trip to the car and refusing Scully’s offer to help her.
“I know,” Maggie laughed quietly, as she too looked at the groceries. “But… I was there and I kept thinking that maybe you’d like this or maybe that and then soon the cart was full and…” She shrugged and smiled, reaching for a bag to begin putting the groceries away.
Scully forced a small smile and nodded her appreciation.
“Thank you,” she said softly. “I was running low on some things. I had planned to stop after my appointment tomorrow.”
“Oh, you have an appointment?”
“Yeah. Um… I want to make sure everything is okay. I…” She rubbed her belly, swallowing hard as she looked down and blinked quickly, hoping to get rid of her tears. “It’s a… a new doctor I’m seeing. Just to be sure it’s going well.”
“Would you like some company? Or would you prefer to go alone?” Maggie asked quietly, the rustle of the grocery bag stilling.
“I…” Scully said, her voice quivering as she shook her head.
Suddenly her mother’s arms were around her and she was holding her closely. Scully clung to her and cried, the tears unable to be stopped. Her mother murmured as she stroked her hair and hummed softly.
“I know, Dana,” Maggie said, rubbing her back. “I understand the feeling of being alone. And pregnant.”
“Mom…”
“I know it’s not the same, not by a long shot,” her mother assured her. “But some aspects, I understand. I didn’t have anyone to go with me. My mother was gone by the time I was pregnant with Bill. And then your father was gone when I was pregnant with nearly all of you kids, for the majority of the pregnancy.”
“Mom, it’s…”
“I know. It’s not my place to ask.” Maggie pulled back and looked at her, wiping Scully’s cheeks with her thumbs. “Your life is your own.”
“Mom,” Scully whispered, drawing in a ragged breath.
“Dana, I worry about you. About the baby. I just want everything to be okay. To know that you and they are fine.”
“We are. When it comes to that anyway,” Scully said, trying to smile.
“Everything else will take time,” Maggie said wisely and Scully nodded, biting her lower lip.
“Would you come with me tomorrow?” she asked, holding onto her mother’s slim wrists as she continued to stroke her cheeks.
“I would love to come with you,” her mother said with a smile.
“Good. Okay.”
She kissed Scully’s forehead and then stepped back, smiling as she stared at her.
“But first, the groceries. Then I’ll make you dinner.”
“You don’t…” Scully started to say, but stopped herself. Nodding, she wiped at her eyes. “I’d like that. Thank you.”
“Of course, honey.”
_____________
The paper covering the exam table crinkled beneath her as she shifted uneasily. She looked at the pictures on the wall of the fetus during the different trimesters. She was in the second trimester now and she rubbed her belly as she compared the size of it to other objects.
About half the size of a ruler. A little longer than a can of soda.
“Look at that,” Maggie said, stepping closer to the pictures. “The baby may be sucking his or her thumb. That’s amazing. But also, we had a time of breaking Charlie of that when he was little.”
“I remember,” Scully said with a small smile. “He cried a lot when you tried to make him stop.”
“Hmm, yeah. And then one word from one of his friends and it was what babies did,” her mother said with a sigh. “Things feel so big in those moments. So important to change and then…” She shook her head and they looked at each other as a knock sounded at the door.
“Come in,” Scully called out, sitting still and folding her hands in her lap.
“Hello,” a woman said, smiling as she stepped into the room. “I’m Doctor Neil, we spoke last week.”
“Yes, hello. It’s nice to meet you,” Scully said, shaking her hand. “Dana Scully and this is my mother, Margaret Scully.”
“Maggie, please,” her mother said, also shaking the doctor’s hand.
“Well, it’s a pleasure to meet you both. Will anyone else be joining us?”
“No there’s… no. Just us,” Scully said, letting out a breath.
“Not a problem. Just wanted to know if we should wait.”
“No. We don’t need to wait,” Scully said with a polite smile.
“Wonderful. Let’s get you set up and then we’ll take a look at your baby.”
Scully nodded and as the doctor readied the ultrasound machine, she laid down on the table, the paper even louder than before. She raised her shirt and unbuttoned her pants, pulling them down slightly.
Her mother lay her hand gently on her shoulder and she reached up and held it tightly.
“Everything is looking great on your end, Dana. Your weight, blood pressure, everything is where it should be at this point in your pregnancy. Do you have any concerns or questions?”
“No,” Scully whispered, choking back a laugh as tears filled her eyes. Mulder would have had questions, talking the doctor’s ear off, looking for information.
But he was not there. She did not know where he was and so there were no questions to be asked and then answered.
Taking a deep breath, she squeezed her mother’s hand as she exhaled and her mother squeezed back.
“Okay, let’s take a look here. The gel will be cold, but you know that, seeing as you’ve been here before.”
Scully, prepared for the coldness of it, still gasped as the gel was squeezed onto her stomach. The wand was then placed over it, Doctor Neil pressing firmly into her stomach.
“Okay… Now if this little one wants to be cooperative… Yeah, there we go,” the doctor said as a whooshing sound filled the room.
“Oh, God,” Maggie breathed, squeezing Scully’s hand tightly. “Listen to that. It’s a miracle.”
“I always feel that way myself,” the doctor chuckled, moving the wand further as Scully closed her eyes, tears threatening to choke her.
“Is… is the baby… okay?” she managed to get out.
“Oh yes, it looks great.”
“Oh, Dana. Isn’t it amazing? Look at the profile. Oh, you can see the heart beating. Look at that.” Her mother’s grip on her hand loosened slightly as she stepped closer to the screen. “Little hands. The nose… the mouth, oh… it’s so amazing. A small word for such a big thing, but Dana, look.”
“It’s okay?” she asked again, not looking as tears spilled from her eyes and pooled in her ears. “It’s… normal?”
“Of course it is,” Maggie said softly. “Right, Doctor? Everything is normal?”
“Everything is perfectly normal,” she said and Scully began to cry.
“Oh, honey,” Maggie said, coming back to her and hugging her, though the angle was slightly awkward. “The baby is perfect. It’s okay. Everything’s okay.”
“Would you like a moment alone?” the doctor asked, the wand on Scully’s stomach lifting.
“No,” she said through her tears. “Just… I’m alright. It’s just… I’ve been worried and… I’m okay.”
“Completely understandable,” the doctor said softly, the wand still off of her stomach as Scully tried to calm her tears.
“I’m okay, Mom,” Scully whispered, patting her mother’s arm and she pulled back, searching Scully’s face. “I’m okay. It’s all just… I’m okay. I want to proceed.” She sniffled and the doctor handed her a box of tissues. “Thank you.”
“Of course. It’s normal to be worried and concerned. Let me know when you’re ready to proceed.”
Scully nodded as she blew her nose and then grabbed another tissue to wipe her. Taking a deep breath, she nodded.
“I’m ready.”
“Okay,” the doctor said and the wand was placed back on Scully’s stomach along with a bit more gel.
Scully now stared at the screen, holding her breath, until she saw the profile of the baby and she smiled, tears once again filling her eyes.
“Everything is okay?” she whispered, needing assurance again.
“Everything looks great. Size, growth, heart rate… it all is right on target. Now, I can’t tell here, but…” the doctor said, moving the wand around. “Hmm… do you want to know the sex?”
“No,” Scully said, still staring at the screen, looking only for anything that might appear abnormal or worrisome.
“No?” Maggie asked, touching Scully’s shoulder. “You don’t? It would be so fun to know.”
“Not yet,” Scully whispered, not voicing her concerns and worries about her growing child. “I just want to be sure he or she is doing okay.”
“Yes, they are,” the doctor said. “Ohhh, would you look at that!”
“He’s sucking his thumb!” Maggie said with a laugh, squeezing Scully’s upper arm. “Oh, Dana. Look at him.”
“Or her,” Scully said softly, watching the baby suck its impossibly tiny thumb.
Mulder, she thought. I wish you were here. I wish you could see this. Your son… or daughter.
“I’ll print out some pictures for you. Would you both like some?”
“Oh,” Maggie said, her hand going to her mouth. “I… Dana?”
“Yes, for both,” Scully said, looking up at her mother with a smile. She looked down and bent to kiss Scully’s temple softly.
“Thank you,” Maggie whispered as Scully closed her eyes briefly.
The gel cleaned from her stomach, Scully readjusted her clothes and sat up, feeling a bit of a head rush. Breathing out, she waited for it to pass and then looked at her mother as she held the sheet of sonogram printouts. She was smiling as she traced her fingers over the baby’s profile, shaking her head with a hum.
“Just perfect,” she whispered and Scully prayed that she was right as she placed a hand on her stomach.
They left the doctor’s office and went to lunch, Maggie continuing to look at the sonogram photos, talking about the baby.
But Scully could only half listen, worrying about so many things. The baby, her work, and Mulder. Where was Mulder? Why could she not find him?
At home, she stuck the sonogram photo on the refrigerator with a magnet. Staring at it, at the proof of the miraculous life growing inside of her, it was too much and she had to take the photo down.
She knew she was pregnant, of course, but seeing it in black and white, it felt as if she was tempting fate. Asking for pain and heartache to find her.
She wanted to celebrate, to be excited, and there were moments when she was, but mostly she was worried and scared. Too much lay upon this pregnancy and the wonder it held. Too many things were unknown and she was not sure she wanted to face them.
_______________
Her mother came to the doctor with her again, but only once more.
And it had been during her lowest moment.
Mulder had been found, lifeless and beyond any healing she could provide for him.
Burying him, driving away from the snowy graveyard, had been one of the hardest things she had ever done.
A week after, as she had been lying on the couch in tears, Maggie had arrived to pick her up for an appointment she had been dreading. Helping her with her coat, adding tissues to the pockets, they drove to the doctor in near silence.
There was no excitement, only silence. After the doctor had left, new sonogram photos lying on the exam table, Scully had begun to sob.
Maggie had held her, rubbing her back and stroking her hair, saying nothing as Scully cried, her heart breaking.
After that, Scully saw the doctor on her own.
Not because she did not want her mother there, but because she cried every time and she did not want her to see. She did not like the feeling of vulnerability that overcame her every time she saw the doctor, nor did she want her mother feeling she needed to comfort her each time.
She wanted to be soothed and told it would be okay, but she also wanted to be alone in her grief, crying without being seen or heard.
Her mother never asked, not verbally anyway, but her eyes asked questions when Scully brought her new sonogram photos. She watched her mother each time, seeing the moment of excited happiness extinguished by the sadness as she sighed.
“Thank you, Dana,” Maggie whispered, the afternoon Scully came over with new photos after her latest appointment.
“Yeah,” Scully breathed, looking at the picture and then closing her eyes, wishing it was with Mulder that she was sharing this moment.
Look at him, Scully.
Or her.
No. It’s a boy, I can tell.
Oh, you can determine a baby's sex now? In utero? With no training on how to read an ultrasound?
Nah, I don’t need all that information. I just know.
Is that right?
Yeah, it is. I mean, I’m right most of the time about everything, why not about this?
“Oh,” Scully sobbed out, unable to stop herself, as she could so clearly hear his voice and picture his teasing smile.
Her mother looked up and then pulled her into her arms as Scully pitched forward slightly.
“It’s okay, Dana. It’s okay, honey.”
It’s not, she wanted to scream. And it never will be again.
But instead she cried, no longer caring if her mother witnessed her tears.
A sudden, big movement from the baby, caused her to pull back with a deep gasp as she gripped her mother’s arm.
“Ohhh,” she breathed, cradling her stomach with her other hand. “That was…”
“I felt that,” Maggie said in quiet awe, placing a hand on Scully’s stomach. “Are you okay?”
“Yeah. I’m…” Scully said, both hands on her stomach now, waiting to see if there would be another movement like that one. When nothing came, she looked at her mother with wet eyes. “I’ve never felt them move like that before.”
“Perhaps they sensed your sadness and wanted to help,” her mother offered and Scully looked at her incredulously.
“Mom,” she said, shaking her head. “That’s… it’s…”
“It is. But don’t discount things you may not understand.”
“You sound like Missy,” Scully whispered.
“Sometimes I wonder if she had it right,” Maggie said, tears filling her eyes. “Aside from the crystals and other things, I mean.”
They both laughed softly, wiping at their eyes. Scully put her arms around her mom and hugged her again as she closed her eyes.
“I know it’s not your belief, Dana. Nor mine really,” Maggie whispered, rubbing Scully’s back. “But sometimes we have to put our faith and thoughts in those that are unseen, not unlike our faith in God. We can’t see it, but we know it’s there. We can feel it.”
“It’s hard sometimes,” Scully whispered back and Maggie nodded.
“I know. I know it is,” Maggie agreed, pulling back and holding Scully’s face gently in her hands. She smiled and Scully closed her eyes as she took a deep breath. “This baby, Dana… they are nothing short of a miracle. Is it too far of a reach to believe that the two of you would have a connection beyond what you ever imagined?”
“Considering everything else in my life,” Scully said bittersweetly as she shook her head. “No, it’s not so far-fetched.”
Maggie smiled, stroking Scully’s cheeks with her thumbs before patting them softly and moving her hands.
“How about some tea?”
“I’d like that,” Scully said, nodding her head and placing her hand on her stomach again.
In the kitchen, Scully sat down carefully and took a deep breath.
“Mom?”
“Yes?”
“Would you come with me? To the next appointment?” She looked at her mother, the teapot held in her hand, and watched a series of emotions cross her face.
“I will always want to be there, but I leave it to you to make that decision. I understand if you’d rather go alone, I truly do.” She smiled and Scully breathed a sigh of relief.
“I’ll let you know next time. We could… do lunch again.”
“Yes. That would be nice,” Maggie said with a smile.
“Thank you, Mom. For understanding,” Scully said softly and her mother nodded as she filled the teapot with water and placed it onto the stove to heat up.
Forcing herself to not think about the many worries that were constantly plaguing her, Scully closed her eyes. Breathing in slowly, she caressed her stomach and listened to the familiar and comforting sounds of her mother humming quietly as she moved around the kitchen, preparing their tea.
It’s not okay, she thought. But I’m trying.
The baby moved gently under her hand, almost as though they were responding in sympathetic understanding, and Scully sighed as she smiled sadly.
Yeah. For both of us.

I haven't posted in a long time and a lot has happened
You may already know that my mother, Elizabeth Landman, passed away on January 23, 2023. Although she was 87, it was unexpected. My mom as an active, dynamic person who never slowed down or stopped unless she had no choice. She had a cough for a couple of months, but it didn't stop her from traveling, spending the holidays with family on the East Coast or going on her long-planned meditation retreat in western Massachusetts.
On New Year's day my sister, Roz, got a call from the retreat center that my mother was really sick and needed to get care. She picked mom up and took her to the ER. Mom was admitted to the CCU with pneumonia but she improved and was moved to the regular hospital within a week. We were hopeful that she would make a good recovery. However, the day after my beloved Lucious died in my arms I got a call from my sister, Celia, to come back to Massachusetts immediately. Mom might go at any time. I flew out the next day and spent eight days by her side. All of my five other siblings came to help and we took turns caring for her in the hospital: holding her hand, adjusting her pillows, reading to her aloud, wiping her forehead with cool cloths, feeding her and, at times, helping her breathe.
Her chest x-rays showed improvement but she was declining in front of us and no one knew why. Finally I had to go back to California. Two days after I returned, my mother died. I am grateful that she was able to have all six of her children with her at the end. I know that's all she really wanted.
I am most grateful that I experienced my mother as I never had before. Many of you know that our relationship was difficult but those eight days allowed me to know a mother who didn't put up defenses and who only showed me love. Because of that I was able to feel a love for her that I never knew I had. It was both beautiful and tragic.
I have been mourning my mother, especially because she had just begun a new chapter in her life. As sad as it is, at 87 years of age she was really just starting to live the life she wanted. I am also grieving the relationship that I could have had with her. How different my life would have been if it had been safe for me to love her. How much love there was that we never acknowledged until the very end. It's all so complicated.
Here are some pictures of her - from the young actress in NYC to the mother I knew at the Cape, our family home in Lexington, MA, Fenway Park and on Mt. Tam.
I have many, many photos from the past month in Palm Springs and now San Diego that I will post soon.

Thunderstorms
Cordelia Goode x Wilhemina Venable x Ally Mayfair x Reader (daughter)
Tumblr media
The thunder roared loudly throughout the academy. The trees scratched against the windows as the wind blew harder and harder throughout the night. You lay awake in your bed trembling in fear. You were 10 years old you shouldn’t be scared of a thunderstorm or at least that’s what Madison would say.
You peeked over your blanket looking across the room at Zoe who was sleeping peacefully. You sighed as the winds picked up once more.
“You can do this.” You say to yourself.
“You don’t need your moms your a big girl.” You repeated trying to convince yourself.
A bright white light flashed across the sky and a few seconds later the loudest crack of thunder came down sending you flying out of your bed and down the hallway.
“I can’t do this. I can’t do this.” You mumbled as you ran to your mothers room.
Opening the door you ran straight in landing on the bed waking the three women.
Cordelia jumps up leaning over to cut on the lamp on the nightstand.
“Y/n honey? Are you okay?” She asked. The light in the room caused Mina and Ally to groan as they also sits up to look at you.
“I’m sorry mommy I tried. But I can’t do it..” you cried.
“Can’t do what love?”
“I’m scared.” You cried. She was about to ask why when the thunder cracked again making you jump.
“Awe baby. Come here. It’s okay.” She coos as you crawl into her arms. Mina and Ally slide over to get closer to you resting their hands on your back.
“I’m sorry mommy I wanted to be a big girl like Madison said but I couldn’t. I tried. I'm too scared.” You mumbled crying into her chest.
Cordelia sighs as she looks over at Mina. The redhead rolls her eyes at the mention of Madison. She knows she shouldn't feel this way but she really can't stand that child. Ally gives you a small smile as she turns you to face her.
“Listen to me, sweet girl It’s okay to be scared sometimes. Everyone gets scared even if they try to act like they don’t. So you have nothing to feel bad about. Okay?”
“Really?” you asked looking up at Ally.
“Yeah. I have things I'm afraid of too,” she says.
“But you're a grownup,” you said making the three women chuckle.
Ally smiles shaking her head “Just because I'm a grown-up doesn't mean I don't get scared sometimes. It's a normal thing honey.”
“And if one of us is scared the rest of us step in and help them feel better,” Cordelia says smiling at Mina and Ally.
“You have nothing to be embarrassed about little one even I get scared sometimes,” Mina says.
“Really?! But..you're never scared, Momma. You're tough.”
Mina chuckles “Not always but that's why I have you, and Mommy, and Ally. You guys make me feel better and safe.”
“And that's why you have us baby so that when you feel scared you can come to us and talk about it. Okay?” Ally asked kissing your cheek.
You nod your head as she wipes away your tears. She smiles reaching her arms out for you.
“Come here and cuddle up to me. I’ll protect you.”
You smiled as you crawled into Ally’s arms.
“Thank you, Ally.”
She smiles as she looks over at Cordelia and Mina who are also smiling. The blonde hits the light off and turns to cuddle against you and Mina does the same behind Ally.
“Goodnight my girls,” Cordelia mumbled.
“Goodnight.” You all replied as sleep took over.

beautiful
when i was a little girl, i had thought my mother was the most beautiful person in the world. even when she was ugly to me, i found her beautiful. i am now a queer teen, who knows why and when and how my mother was ugly to me. i am now a queer teen who stays up at night and looks at my ceiling. and, i am again a little girl who thought her mom was the most beautiful person in the world. a mom that did not think of her as the most beautiful girl in the world.

But, be wise to not mistake this change of mind as passive. For she is as beautiful as she is volatile, sailors of all stripes being cautioned to offer tribute to the sea for the promise of a safe voyage.

Ranni has every reason to hate Marika. She is the figurehead of an order that has caused her and her family so much misery… and yet, in the Age of the Stars ending cutscene, Ranni holds Marika’s head with such gentleness. It feels less like Ranni is putting down a tyrant, and more like she’s laying her to rest, after many long years of torment.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ranni could have been Marika’s successor, but she rejected the guidance of the Two Fingers, slaying her own flesh in order to be rid of their influence:
“But I would not acquiesce to the Two Fingers. I stole the Rune of Death, slew mine own Empyrean flesh, casting it away. I would not be controlled by that thing.”
Ranni goes to such drastic lengths because the most intolerable thing possible to her is to be a pawn; her will not being her own, but being at the mercy of a higher power. Ranni’s quest is above all about free will – it culminates with Ranni using the Fingerslayer Blade to tear her Two Fingers into bloody ribbons, at long last giving her full control over her own destiny.
Tumblr media
Marika in the present day is a prisoner held in perpetual torment. According to Enia and the Two Fingers,
"Queen Marika is the vessel of the Elden Ring, carrier of its vision. A god, in truth. But after the Elden Ring's shattering, she was imprisoned in the Erdtree. A grim punishment for shattering the Order, despite her godhood. The Fingers speak... "Marika's trespass demanded a heavy sentence. But even in shackles, she remains a god, and the vision's vessel.”
Marika shattered the Order, going against the will of the Two Fingers, and was punished for it gravely. In many ways, Marika’s fate is Ranni’s absolute worst nightmare. This is exactly the fate she took such drastic lengths to escape… serving a higher power with her entire being, her will not her own, but the will of the Fingers, with any attempt at change met with violent suppression, her body essentially being used as a puppet to defend the last vestiges of the Order.
“I would not be controlled by that thing.”
Tumblr media
I think that Ranni, seeing Marika’s broken body at the end of it all, felt nothing but pity for her in that moment, despite everything she’d done. To me, the act of Ranni holding Marika’s head in her hands feels like she’s saying, “you were my enemy. But there is no worse fate in this world than what you suffered. Now, you can be truly free."
