India to be world’s most populous nation despite decline after 2060s peak: UN expert

India will continue to be the world’s most populous country into the next century, even though its population will peak in the mid-2060s and begin a slow decline, according to a population expert.

India is “currently the largest country in the world in terms of population, and it is projected to stay so throughout the century,” Senior Population Affairs Officer Clare Menozzi said on Thursday at the release of the UN World Population Prospects 2024 Summary.

jerusalemite afro-palestinians were employed to guard al-aqsa throughout the ottoman period. during the 1948 palestine war, some joined the arab liberation army and fought with fellow palestinians to defend al-aqsa and their presence in jerusalem. the position of guards has been taken by occupation soldiers since the 1967 war, after which a quarter of the afro-palestinian population became refugees in surrounding countries.

jerusalem's afro-palestinian community still live in the compounds today, which also house the local african community society. (the door in the last picture is theirs.) afro-palestinians as a whole face the same legal, social, and economic restrictions and maltreatment as other palestinians, compounded with the same anti-black racism from israeli government and police which ethiopian jews and eritrean asylum seekers face, which result in a form of "passport racism" unique to them.

I dislike takes that Danse would be just as conservative in modernized aus when it's clearly shown his staunch views of things come from his time in the Brotherhood and his deep-rooted desire to belong to something with a greater purpose.

All this "adults who like X are creepy/ gross/disgusting" is just an excuse to hurt the most systemically vulnerable people and shame them into compliance. Western leftism operates on conditional humanity and respectability politics. "We'll give a fuck about you...as long as you behave only in ways we find palatable." The one thing worse than an American is people outside of America (especially french) saying "just protest".

Its one of the few beautiful moments to let people outside of the US feel dumb and uninformed.

The BLM protests of 2013, 2014 (brown and garner, not to mention sandra bland and plenty more after) and 2020 were for Americans protesting against extrajudicial executions of black americans.

The result? Military reaction, to the point where one of the most liberal cities in the USA (NYC) had cops literally running over protesters and some abducted into unmarked vans. Higher funding for police departments too (the actual result of defund the police). There are so many more I could link to these including the little white bastard who decided to cross state lines and kill people for funsises and become a folk hero among white people.

Anti-genocide protests literally had the same military response and now have executive orders seeking out those protesters in order to either get them sent out the country or punished.

Do I need to connect 1+1 on how americans do protest and are punished with little result?

Or do I need to connect the lines that larger protests won't just have a military reaction but also likely result in martial law AND unlike South Korea, we have a ton of white idiots who are willing to put their lives on the line for a cult leader?
