The moment she stepped into the fancy hallway, Bai He could feel her. The White Bone Spirit had an unmistakable aura, cold rising above the warm light and the rich decor. Bai He sank into it, just for a second.

Quiet conversation came from a hallway just a few feet away. Bai He slowly crept towards the noise and peeked in.

It looked like some kind of meeting. Several people in fancy robes stood around, listening to one man reading something off a scroll. At the front of the room, an old man in even more elaborate robes sat in a throne with a bored look on his face. On one side of the throne, Shi stood there.

It was weird seeing him without a smile...

Her bones froze as her gaze trailed to the other side of the throne.

The beautiful woman on that side cocked her head, her eyes gleaming a soft blue for just a moment. Bai He felt a whimper trail out and she stepped back, feeling her entire being ache. Without a word, she whirled around and rushed down the hallway.

She had to find the edge of this memory.

Johnshi swap au!

Inspired by @ghostherlig swap au fic (which you should definitely read) I made my own swap au boys in my interpretation! I went for more of a “circumstances” swap

Woohoo, and I'm here with Alya! With one of the og mortality miraculous!

Here's Alya/Babs as Alfa! Not my original idea, but the other felt too off for her. I'm still not 100% satisfied with it, but designing costumes for her is really hard for some reason to me XD But I guess this borderline early 2000s hyper indulgent stuff works for now. Practically raised by western comic books, Babs was very excited when she first met her parasite. Despite her funky costume, she takes the whole hero thing ridiculously seriously. She regularly works out and trains for some sort of final showdown against the zombie hordes she keeps rambling on about.

ok last thing bc I’m still obsessed with this au 😭 but the timeline get together completely fine 100% 20/20 vision Kenshi steps out and everyone thinks it hasn’t happened yet and then johnny steps out and it’s like a collective “ohh..” after a few minutes realizing it’s the other way around

im SCREAMING this would kill me-

i think they'd see kenshi and everyone would have the "it hasnt happened yet" face, but he completely ignores it and greets everyone and acts like his usual charming self

and then johnny walks out, and at first no one can tell because his sunglasses are pushed up and no one is really paying attention to his eyes, and it's only after they catch swap!kenshi helping him moves his hips around table corners or nudge certain items into his hands that the original johnny and kenshi are like "oh"

but then, a sweet moment later, swap!johnny finds og!kenshi and they talk about their blindness and how they've made peace with it bc it means that their respective partners arent blind and since they both have a sort of ability that gives them their sense it all kind of works out anyway

i, too, am obsessed with this au- that one shot might be coming sooner rather than later, lmao

Stupid question but which one re-evolved first, Duskull/Dusknoir or Treecko/Grovyle?

First, don't say it's a stupid question, I would love to share ideas for the au and talk more about it, especially 'cause I personally am not very creative on my own, so interaction helps immensely.

Second, gonna be honest here, I actually have no idea. I haven't really put much thought into actual plot lmao. The AU doesn't even belong to me really, I just took jsab's one and came up with little interactions that I found funny and/or cute (in my defense, i was starving for actaeonshipping content xd). I didn't plan an actual timeline/story, and I feel that way anyone can come up with their own interpretation of it, which is fun. (and also less complicated cause the logistics of a swap au would be,,,,,,,,,,,,complicated i think).

However, since you asked, I am going to list some random ideas I had about how it could happen, which sort of mixes with possible story beats ig. Sorry beforehand for the length and change of subject lol.

tldr: imo it depends on what story you wanna come up with and whatever serves it better (i.e. you want it to happen post game, so you follow the game's plot; you want it to happen during the story, so sth weird happens, etc.)

So in PMD:EOS world, pokémon evolve through the Luminous Spring. The player can't evolve until the spring regains its light once the flow of time is fixed. So either we have Grovyle and Dusknoir re-evolving after Dialga is defeated, respecting canon, or we tweak it a bit to make it more interesting.

A way to alter the spring method would be by stealing a headcanon I saw someplace I can't remember (oops): that pokémon, while they usually rely on the Luminous Spring, on very rare occasions can evolve through high levels of stress to protect themselves. I personally like this theory because it explains why there are evolved pokémon in the future, like Grovyle and Dusknoir themselves. They were born in a paralysed world, with no magic skinnydipping, so what's up with that.

When I say this ties in with story beats is because I feel the choice here can make two different versions of the swap, 1. treecko and duskull literally take the hero and partner role to the very end (plus a face off against darkrai ig??), or 2. respect the game's kind-of-chosen one narrative by having partner keep their relic fragment, and making grovyle and dusknoir's main mission to help hero and partner work together again. The problem with this AU is that, if taken seriously, it would need a DEEP reconsideration of the game's events and characters. When does the swap occur? Why does it happen, is Darkrai involved again? If Hero and Partner are still there, does that mean the story of eos happened beforehand but had a bad ending? How do two characters whose actions are immensely influenced by their knowledge of the future act when stripped of their canon motivations? Do they keep behaviours and reflexes (perhaps theyre a bit more ambivalent with violence/more morally gray than hero and partner) or are they a blank slate? Do they feel compelled to evolve because they have a weird feeling that they're in a body strange to them? This is why I only draw the fun two panel interactions!

Leaving all that aside, here are some scenarios that could happen (...because we are just making shit up so anything can happen):

They evolve through struggle, like I presume they had to do in the future. Maybe Treecko evolves sooner, on account of being more reckless and referencing his status as a starter pokémon that evolves at level 16. Once Duskull evolves he prolly carries the team for a while, tho, since Dusclops was supposed to be a fully evolved pokémon in gen 3, and is iconically stronger than Dusknoir when it carries an eviolite. Then again, Grovyle and Dusknoir in game are way stronger than they would be in a mainline game, so perhaps they maintain some muscle memory that helps them in combat (funny how two amnesiac pokémons, who barely remember their own names, are somehow so accostumed to battle, huh, weird). I'd say the best place for an evolution would be the dark future, maybe they escape from prison without facing the sableye -cause a prison cell isnt that big of a deal for someone who knows dig and someone whose actual pokédex entry is "It can go through walls!"- and evolve in a fight against partner?

The evolution doesn't follow game rules at all, instead it's a physical manifestation of their old memories. Hero never remembers their past (sorry grovyle), but this is pure self indulgence so maybe the other two do, or at least are more encouraged to do so or get more information (celebi for grovyle, and dialga for dusknoir).

Following that last point, Celebi and Dialga, two time travelling pokémon, actively interfere to help them get their memories back/get them up to speed with the situation, each to their own interest. Perhaps this involve a separation arc between Treecko and Duskull, à la Gates to Infinity. This would serve to make them less dependent of each other, and mature on their own for a while, differenciating them from hero and partner.

They don't re-evolve, they save the world/help save the world like hero and partner would do.

My favourite option is Dialga helps them somehow with time magic after the battle is over and time is fixed. The sole point of it is getting Dusknoir and Grovyle -with their memories back- to awkardly leave together on a slow stoneship that shoots rainbow, for the sole reason that it would be hilarious.

Okay, new resolution.

Lady Bone Demon was banned from ever sending her into weird scrolls again. Bai He wasn't even sure why she needed to go into this scroll in the first place, beyond the fact that the spiders had been sucked in, and no, she couldn't get them out from outside. Thankfully, Red knew enough magic to teleport them through...until the scroll interrupted the teleportation ritual.

Where even was she? Or, better yet, where was she?

Bai He looked around, rubbing her elbow where she had landed on it. She looked to be in the jungle somewhere. But there was no sign of the boys anywhere. She took a deep breath.

"GUYS!" A bird flapped up at her call. "HELLO?! RED?! XIAOTIAN?! ARE YOU THERE?!" More birds flew away, but no voices responded to her. Bai He hissed, looking around. Okay. So she was alone. That...

That was fine!

All she had to do was find her way out of the jungle. Maybe there was a path somewhere that would lead to a village! Bai He nodded at the plan and looked around. Now, where to start walking? North was a good option, right? Yeah!

"North is..." She rotated around, glanced at the sky, and hazarded a guess. "This way!" Hopefully. With that, Bai He began to walk.

At least the jungle seemed way nicer than the alligator swamp. The sun was bright and warm, with beautiful plants blossoming around her. The dirt under her feet was nicely even. There were even birds singing and people laughing-

Wait.

Bai He paused, cocking her head. That was people talking! She must've been close to a town! She couldn't help a relieved laugh as she began to laugh. She could hang out there, blending in, until Red found her! She was sure of it!

She grabbed a bush, pushed it out of her way, and froze.

A large table stood in a forest clearing, full of fruits and other food. Six demons sat around the arrangement, eating and drinking goblets of wine between rich laughter. And there, on the table, dressed in sunshine yellow, was Sun Wukong.

"And then I-" His eyes met hers and Bai He felt her blood chill.

No, no, no... He was supposed to be far away! He was supposed to be somewhere else, licking his wounds after the battle of the Samadhi fire! He wasn't.

"Hello there!" A male voice broke through her thoughts. All the demons were turned, staring right at her, including Macaque and Sun Wukong. The person sitting in front of her was a blonde lion, who was starting to stand. "Little girl, are you alright? How did you get here?" His voice was concerned, but Bai He was more scared of the monkey than anything.

"She's probably a spy!" An eagle was standing up now, holding a spear. "How else could she get on this mountain?"

This...mountain...oh no.

"I'm sorry," she squeaked, turning away. "Wrong table!"

Before she could break into a run, a warm hand landed on her shoulder, halting her in place. "Kid, it's okay! Peng's not gonna hurt you." She froze. Sun Wukong was holding her. Sun Wukong was talking to her.

Sun Wukong...was leading her to a chair?

"How did you get here, little girl?" His voice was concerned. "Humans don't rarely come on my mountain, especially ones as young as you." Bai He blinked, unsure of how to respond. Wukong stared back but sighed. "I think she needs a minute, boys." He pulled away and Bai He watched as he pulled out a hair and summoned a bowl. The lion was by his side in a moment, helping him fill the bowl with food, mostly fruit. When it was full, Wukong set it in front of her. "Eat up. When you're done you can answer my questions."

A realization made her stomach twist.

Hey I'm curious, in the swap au how are the other lamb bishops as followers? And will there be any unique interaction between them and narinder's family?

It's not really a big difference between them and the original Bishops as Followers. In the beginning, they also become difficult to deal with since it's hard accepting your mortal body again as a former God.

These are the only interactions with Narinders family that I thought about so far:

what do you think a swapped au would look like? like Johnny gets blinded, Kenshi might be a celebrity, etc

ohohoho i've been sitting on this ask all day bc it immediately planted a seed in my brain- i apologize if this gets long

the short version is i think kenshi would be a big thriller/horror actor, still lived and grew up in the yakuza but now has his clan out since he was able to buy sento on his own.

johnny would have also been caught up in a crime ring in the LA area where he did jobs as an assassin, probably did enough jobs for the big bosses to pass name around. i think post being blinded in outworld he would get his powers from mk11 and those would give him a better sense of the world without his vision.

for the most part their personalities would be the same, but i think kenshi would take on the more charming angle while johnny would be more brash and gruff-

the long/story version is, i think kenshi would be a big celebrity that did a lot of thriller or horror movies- i think he would still have grown up in the yakuza, still has all his tattoos and his incredible aura of tragedy, but i think he channels it into his films to aid in the story telling- casting people are always trying to get him to take roles for gangster movies but kenshi left that life and doesnt want to be part of a production that would just be one giant reminder of that

as for him not being blind, i want to say he ended up buying sento for the three million dollars and did use it to get his clan out of the yakuza- i think he owns a pretty big house that he shares with his older sister (personal hc) and that for the most part he's happy doing movies, though he's transitioning from working on screen to working off screen

when the time comes for him and johnny to be picked up by liu kang, i think they meet on accident-

johnny in this would be blind, but before he's blinded he and kenshi meet at a club or movie premiere. kenshi is there because that's who they're celebrating, and johnny is there to assassinate someone (maybe even kenshi .3.)

they get to talking and eventually kenshi convinces johnny to go home with him and the two would've spent the night together, except liu kang shows up with bi han and kuai liang and the two are whisked off to wu shi academy to train more

and then from there things progress as usual, johnny gets blinded by mileena and thrown into one of shang tsung's laboratory tables and whatever substances are on it get thrown together and johnny sits in it just a little too long-

they get down to the real lab and johnny is knocked out for most of their time down there, kenshi helping him stay on his feet and putting the medicine over his eyes, sliding his own sunglasses onto johnny's face to make him look a little more casual while they drag him out of there

after all of it ends i think they finally do eventually spend that night together, lol

Living Harmony AU relevant character sheets/info: Harmony aka the "Tree of Harmony" Stygian Shadow Lock Starswirl the Bearded Somnambula is the next pillar up on the list with an updated design, courtesy of my buddy Ori, and a fresh character sheet from me. Her and Mistmane are the two pillars that ended up getting a species swap with their rewritten backstories for this AU. Bat ponies were super underutilized in the MLP G4 show and the idea of Somnambula and her town being mostly made up of Egyptian fruit bat ponies was super fun to think about. Listed below is some character and story context for these sketches provided by my myself and Ori like usual. Hope you enjoy!

Pillar of Aspiration

Bat pony from ancient Neighgypt

Comes from a village made up of mostly bat ponies with some of the other standard pony races sprinkled in and a healthy population of anubis style diamond dogs

Not a princess, but the equivalent of high nobility in her culture. Had cash to burn and was very generous in giving her wealth to the less fortunate in her village be it money, food, clothing etc...

Was also an advisor to the Pharaoh and Prince Hisan

Her village was trapped in a collective dream by a huge mythical Sphinx that hails from the dream realm. It would have turned Somnambula’s ponies into dreamless husks had she not broken free and solved the Sphinx’s riddles, which were the basis of its magic.

Somnambula’s artifact, the Sphinx’s Crescent Moon, is a trinket she stole straight from the Sphinx’s headpiece. Affixing it to her tiara, it allows her free travel between the dreaming and physical realms. Though, spending so much time in the Dream Realm as a mortal pony has its consequences…

Gained a weird aura about her after breaking the Sphinx’s spell. A small radius around her is folded into dream space, which makes it difficult to perceive her normally. She’s essentially a friendly cognitohazard. Take a good look, because you won’t be able to recall her face later. Lucid dreamers can see past this effect.

Has a somewhat eerie quality to her that she likes to play up. Dispenses philosophical queries just to mess with ponies such as: “Perhaps I am merely a fruit bat dreaming that she is a pony” or “Perhaps this is a dream, you don’t know!”

Has sharp teeth, but they’re meant for biting into fruits. Sometimes will joke about "gobbling" someone up if they get too close

Sleeps like a regular bat by hanging upside down. The bottom of bat pony hooves can grip many different surfaces for this purpose

Firmly believes in making your dreams into reality

Ancient Equestrians would call upon her name for protection in their dreams

Dream walked so Princess Luna could dream run

Somnambula is Luna's favorite pillar and legend

Is celebrated with a statue of her in the center of the town “Somnambula” in modern Equestria. However it incorrectly depicts her as a pegasus pony instead of a bat pony due to wibbly wobbly history record keeping and/or the strange dream like effect that surrounds her

Somnambula’s Weather Abjuration (The Crystalling Part 2 - 16:26) is a spell named after her, though she herself had no hoof in its creation. It’s very likely that this weather ward was made after the perception of Somnambula shifted into her being a pegasus
