Geras stood in between Kung Lao and 'Raiden', a book in his hand as he recited the words that would bind them for life.

"Kung Lao, Raiden- it is my great pleasure to announce you-"

"STOOOPP!!"

Everything paused and suddenly all eyes were on Kung Jin as he shouted at the top of his lungs and burst through the palace doors. Panting for breath, he glanced across the hall to see disapproving faces and glares, including some from his friends and 'Raiden'. Kung Lao only gave a blank, tired stare, and his eye twitched.

'Raiden' groaned in frustration. "Why does he have to be so overprotective of his cousin?!"

Geras gave him a side glance.

"I mean-" 'Raiden' immediately burst into tears, covering his mouth with one hand. "Why does he have to ruin my special day?"

A few of their friends- Johnny, Kenshi, the princesses and the Lin Kuei- were all a little confused and concerned. They knew something was off, they saw it earlier, but at the same time, maybe Jin was just being overprotective. Well, that's what they thought up until...

Takeda appeared behind Jin. "Because it's not your special day!-"  

"-it's MINE!"

And there he was- the undeniable proof- the true Raiden in the flesh, still tattered and weary from his time in the laboratory. He stood in front of Jin and Takeda, glaring at his mirror image who stood next to his fiancé. 

Everyone erupted in gasps- including their friends.

"I knew it!" Johnny exclaimed.

"You knew nothing, Cage," replied an annoyed Kenshi.

The other Raiden wore a face of anger. "What?! But how did you escape my experiments?!" 

Kung Lao glanced at him.

"They're not as strong as you think," Takeda said. "It was easy to run right past them."

"And your traps," Jin added.

The other Raiden scoffed in amusement. "Clever. But you're still too late!"

"I don't understand," said Tomas, "how could there be two of them?"

"Unless-"

Kuai Liang was cut off by Raiden's accusation. "Because he's Shang Tsung!"

"I KNEW IT!" Johnny shouted. "Raiden is fruity, but not THAT fruity!" He gestured to Shang Tsung as he detransformed, doing that little limp wrist thing he always did.

"Right you are, Champion. And as future ruler of the Realms, I needed another way in- this wedding was the perfect entrance. I'll have more power than I could ever imagine!"

"This again?" Mileena asked with a groan, a hand on the hilt of her sai.

"We've stopped you before, and we'll do it again, sorcerer!" Exclaimed Kitana beside her, who retrieved one of her bladed fans.

Shang Tsung chuckled heartily. "I wouldn't be so sure. Your precious Lord Liu Kang isn't even here to help." 

"He's on his way," Tomas declared, "I'm sure of it! And once he gets here, he'll help us defeat you for the second time!" 

"I doubt that."

"Did you do something to him?!" Raiden demanded, his voice full of the fury he tried so hard to hide, up until now. Rightfully so.

"Oh, I won't spoil the surprise. But your poor husband on the other hand..." 

Shang Tsung gestured to Kung Lao, who remained as still and as pale as a marble statue, the sleepless nights having wrecked havoc on his body and mind- he was exhausted, simply put, and the bags under his eyes immediately stood out to Raiden. Concern filled his veins. What could Shang Tsung possibly have done to him to leave him in this state?

"What did you do to him?!"

"His energy proved useful for my efforts."

Raiden began on his way toward Kung Lao, his adrenaline pushing him further, and the desire to save his beloved fueling him, but-

"Careful, now." Shang Tsung stepped in front of him, crackling green magic in his hand, glaring at Raiden. "Wouldn't want to go back to my laboratory, now would we?"

Raiden took a reluctant step back.

Kitana went in first- throwing a fan to distract Shang Tsung from Raiden as her sister landed a follow-up attack. Mileena dodged a pulse of magic and threw a sai, grazing Tsung's arm.

Raiden, meanwhile, bolted toward Kung Lao, and the moment his man collasped, caught him in his loving arms.

Tomas and Kuai Liang backed up the princesses as they sent a flurry of attacks; Johnny and Kenshi ran up next. Takeda and Jin made their way around the conflict to shield Raiden and Lao.

A sudden burst of Shang Tsung's power sent everyone back, and the sorcerer stood triumphantly in the middle.

"Even now, my servants are working their way here, and soon, I'll take control of Edenia- then Outworld, then the rest of the Realms."

He laughed.

"You'll never find a way to stop me."

"No." 

Shang Tsung sharply turned toward the sudden yet familar voice, and it was...
