Ex-Waqf House Panel Chief Rahman Khan Criticizes New Waqf Bill, Welcomes Joint Committee Review
K Rahman Khan, a veteran Congress leader and former Union minority affairs minister, has raised significant concerns about the new Waqf Amendment Bill introduced by the Narendra Modi government. Khan, who led a Joint Parliamentary Committee on Waqf in the late 1990s and early 2000s, believes the new legislation could undo key reforms established by the Waqf Act of 1995 and its 2013 amendments.
Tumblr media
Background and Concerns
The new Bill, introduced in the Lok Sabha, has sparked controversy and opposition from various quarters. Critics, including Khan, argue that the government has bypassed essential consultations with stakeholders, including the All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) and other organizations crucial to Waqf affairs.
In an interview with The Indian Express, Khan expressed his discontent with the lack of stakeholder engagement, noting that the previous amendments in 2013 were well-received by the Muslim community and addressed numerous issues related to Waqf properties. The 2013 amendments aimed to curb illegal encroachments and made them criminal offenses, improvements Khan feels are now under threat.
Key Issues with the New Bill
Khan outlined several major issues with the new Bill:
Reversal of Reforms: The proposed legislation seems to roll back the progress made by the 1995 Act and the 2013 amendments. Khan criticized the move to abolish Waqf Tribunals and the requirement for all Waqf properties to re-register, which he believes will lead to significant administrative challenges and potential exclusion of properties without formal deeds.
Impact on Waqf Boards: The Bill removes provisions that allowed Waqf Boards to independently register properties and introduces non-Muslims into Waqf Boards, which Khan argues is inappropriate for managing Muslim charitable and religious affairs.
Government's Stance and Future Review
The BJP argues that the Bill will increase transparency and ensure better representation of women in Waqf Boards. However, Khan disputes these claims, questioning the rationale behind including non-Muslims in Waqf Board management.
Despite his criticisms, Khan welcomed the decision to send the Bill to a Joint Committee of Parliament for detailed discussion. He views this as a positive step, allowing for a thorough examination of the Bill and ensuring that various stakeholders can present their perspectives before the legislation moves forward.
Khan’s comments highlight the ongoing debate over the Waqf Amendment Bill and underscore the need for comprehensive dialogue and consideration of all viewpoints before enacting significant changes to existing laws.

what if i said i actually love too weird to live, too rare to die and think it’s underrated. what then.
#idk at least the time i’ve lurked around p!atd fandom stuff it feels like no one ever brought up this album 😭😭#vices and virtues too but at least then there was still leftover ryan ross scraps to hold onto#but like. idk i like the dark las vegas vibes of twtltrtd#i’m not the biggest fan of this is gospel but once you get past it it’s got some bangers ngl#one super minor gripe with the album is that i think the brobecks version of far too young to die is better than the twtltrtd version#it’s minor but it’s true. listen to both versions of the song and you’ll understand#my only real complaints though are just with the lyrical content of girls/girls/boys and casual affair#i like the songs themselves but the lyrics….. who let them cook actually#what was brendon doing. why are you singing about affairs like that whilst you’re a fully married man. ????#but honestly the transition towards the end of the album to more romantic songs is nice#i think it fits well and is a good way to slowly die the energy down without completely squashing it#the end of all things is genuinely a beautiful song but an even more beautiful ending to the album#the lyrics are brendon’s wedding vows and the piano is very nice#i like the effects on the vocals and i think they were a good choice to make everything even more cohesive#it doesn’t take away from the emotional value of the song and it also makes it fit better on the album than if it were just a regular#kind of piano ballad#but then also having collar full be the song leading up to it? even better#i fucking love collar full and agh. having it lead into the end of all things is perfect for it#it’s fun on its own but it’s even better in context i think#anyways. too weird to live too rare to die is an alright pop rock album. go listen to it if you want#me.txt

Final thoughts on affair... it wasn't really my show in that I was nnoyed by Pleng running away all the time but thats really just a matter of personal taste. Otherwise, I think this show did an amazing job at keeping its core story consistent and giving pleng and wan the space and grace to be toxic and codependent. I especially liked that after the incest scare, Wan took some time apart and was allowed to lile me, also get a bit sick of Pleng running away. The fact that Wan legitimately didn't give af if they were blood related was also hilarious.
I also think the actresses have amazing chemistry and I'd love to see more from them.
As for caveats, I do find the ending weak and the resolutions rushed. What is it with the incessant need to redeem all the villains. The shows also a touch soapy but I just watched Blank so this didn't even come close to phasing me.
Overall, I'd highly recommend for their chemistry alone but also for a genuinely good show

"Hannes Kleineke cites Dean and Canons of Windsor MS XI.B.6, rot. 2, for evidence of a deathbed codicil by Edward IV concerning a dispute between the knights and canons of Windsor"
remember when I said that we don't know what Edward IV's deathbed codicils were as they haven't survived? that there is no reason to automatically assume they were relevant to his son's minority? that it's entirely possible that they weren't very important at all considering how dismissively Croyland spoke of them ("some codicils thereto", with no emphasis or elaboration whatsoever)? I LOVE being proven right <3
#edward iv#my post#to be clear it didn't actually matter what Edward wrote in his will as there were no legal or social requirements for it to be followed#this is mostly for the sake of the argument and also because it's a new piece of information I didn't know about before !#and also because that makes it all the more suspicious that Mancini claimed Richard was supposedly#'entitled [to the position of Protector] by law and his brother’s ordinance' when that is...absolutely not true#We don't know what Edward wanted in his will but even if he appointed Richard protector neither his queen nor his council were#in any obligation to give Richard the position. And there was certainly no law in England that stated that there HAD to be a protector#during a minority. The position was literally invented a mere generation earlier as a consolation price for Humphrey Duke of Gloucester.#Richard was not 'entitled' to anything#So it's incredibly suspect that Mancini - a foreigner who was mostly ignorant of English affairs - would claim such a thing#Combined with the fact that Croyland makes no mention of Edward appointing Richard Protector when talking about his death;#his last will or the council meeting afterwards#And the fact that John Russell's speech to Parliament aiming to reinforce Richard's Protectorship never once claims that the former King#wanted him to have the position despite giving a variety of other fanciful justifications for the same#I do tend to agree more-so with Rosemary Horrox who believes that Edward IV wanted his son to succeed him and be crowned immediately#(which is what *everyone* present in the council wanted as well)#and that the story of a thwarted protectorate was Ricardian propaganda aimed at vilifying Elizabeth Woodville#painting himself as the victim and her as the ambitious duplicitous aggressor#even if Edward HAD appointed Richard to the position the story of a denied protectorate would still be propagandic#because again: he was not entitled to the position.#even IF the council & EW decided against Edward IV's wishes and wanted to crown Edward V immediately they weren't doing anything wrong#The fact that the Woodvilles were framed as opportunistic and aggressive and out for themselves can only have been a Ricardian vilification#also Edward V himself wanted to be crowned immediately: we have a letter written by him where he specified he would have a coronation soon#but anyway (I have spent too long talking about this in the linked post I'm not going to repeat the same things here)#I do love that we have new evidence!!!! and that we know what one of Edward's codicils were!#I wish we knew the remaining :(

New Scotland Yard: Fire in a Honey Pot (1.8, LWT, 1972)
"You make it sound very convincing."
"I beg your pardon?"
"Your Mr. Logan was seen at the club on the afternoon before it burnt."
"Oh, now, don't ask me what could have taken him there, to a place like that."
"You mean you've never heard of the protection business?"
"Isn't that what you're in?"
#new scotland yard#fire in a honey pot#1972#lwt#classic tv#bryan izzard#robert banks stewart#john woodvine#peter blythe#robin hawdon#veronica hurst#june brown#john j. carney#john baron#leslie schofield#alan curtis#john crocker#frank mills#maurice bush#yasuko nagazumi#ken halliwell#Schofield's stand in reporter returns from ep3‚ and once again Carlisle is nowhere to be seen (nor even mentioned). his place is taken by#the always reliable Peter Blythe as a rather over eager young sergeant; sadly he's underused‚ disappearing from the middle of the episode#the plot itself is some rather romantic hokum about protection rackets and gambling clubs‚ with an unbalanced (and welsh obvs) arsonist#thrown into the mix for good measure. our welsh wonder is avenging his poor mum who lost everything after being gripped by the evils of#gambling (then relatively new in a legal form; the 1960 Betting and Gaming Act had changed the landscape of gambling in the uk entirely)#this element gets dropped pretty quickly tho to focus on a seedier case of murder and a copycat fire to hide the deed; enter a rather#soap opera element of affairs‚ estranged children‚ and underworld cheating. Woodvine's love of gardening comes up again and even allows#him to hoodwink a suspect (in an entirely legal but morally dubious way). a bit of a minor entry i think‚ it's just a little silly#and distracted. also once again I am asking why a cop as senior as Woodvine is on thr ground investigating p much every crime he finds

ep 3 of affair was mostly great but the way they changed wan's mom's behavior (making her meddle more, ask pleng to set up wan and ek, rushing pleng to get past her trauma) pissed me off--like she was a bad mom in the book, but in a different way, and was way more indulgent of pleng which is WHY pleng cares so much more about her opinion than wan does, so changing that makes the way that pleng listens to her make less sense. also i can't believe they didn't do the timeskip this ep. the preview makes it clear it's happening in ep 4, but pacing-wise that's so stupid; i feel like they're gonna do like a quarter or half the ep wrapping up their teen years and then do the timejump, but they've only got 8 episodes and at this rate they're gonna have to cut a bunch of stuff from their adult years. and also having the timejump mid-ep is gonna make it a harder sell that they're 13 years older
also this is petty but i don't like that wan "woke up" *both* times pleng tried to sneak a kiss while they were sleeping, bc the whole thing in the book is that she keeps pretending to sleep to see what pleng will do and only "wakes up" the third time to be like "hey you keep almost kissing me and then chickening out, what gives, if you're not gonna kiss me then *i'm* gonna kiss *you*"
i did however love the cuddling + the hospital scene + the ways wan took care of pleng after the tragedy

Branches of the Salas Family Triplets
While no photos exist of Alexandria Salas, the founding member of the family, there are photos of her triplets and their respective families. Cataleya started taking family photos shortly before retiring, and was able to get her siblings, Miranda and Bruno to have some photos taken at some point.
Seddiki Branch
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Catelaya Salas married Mehdi Seddiki, they were high school sweethearts and were together from the beginning of high school up until their deaths. Together they had 3 children, Jasmin, Nyla, and Devonte. The top two photos show the couple shortly after each's retirement, the middle shows the two on their first date in highschool, and the bottom shows their children in a photo taken shortly before Catelaya and Mehdi's death.
Both were well-known public figures, with Catelaya being the author behind the bestselling series Cosmo Hike, and Mehdi being a politician turned activist and charity organizer.
The Seddiki branch has the most offspring, with their children having 10 children among themselves as of the current moment.
The Salas-Michaelson Branch
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Bruno Salas married Kingston Michaelson. The two met junior year of high school, both being on the football team. The two went into athletics for most of their lives, though in his later years, Kingston switched towards working as a conservationist. The two had 3 children together, Khalil, Sade, and Olu, with Khalil being born with the help of a surrogate and the twins Sade and Olu being from an unexpected but not unwelcome pregnancy between the two.
When first starting high school and joining the football team, neither jock would believe that they would end up living a peaceful, domestic life in the suburbs with a husband and 3 children. But by some delightful chance, that's exactly what happened, and the two lived relaxed and quiet lives.
The Vatore Branch
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Miranda married Sienna Vatore, the daughter of the vampire Lilith Vatore. Like her siblings, she met Sienna in high school, though they didn't start dating until after highschool. Miranda was a popular preppy girl, Sienna was a shy outcast, neither had come to the conscious realization that they liked girls. The two first met and bonded at prom, as neither had dates and were glad to find someone to talk to at the dance.
The two weren't close friends, and it was only a while after graduation that Miranda decided to try and find Sienna again. Sienna was living in San Myshuno as a single parent, having been given custody of her daughter Avery after a messy relationship. Miranda initially moved in with Sienna as a roommate and friend to help out caring for Avery, and eventually, the two came to the realization that they were in love. They eloped and went on to have 3 more children.
In the first three photos, you can see Miranda standing behind Sienna and next to their children. In the second photo, the children are from top to bottom, Alexandrea, Loren, Avery, and Sherry. Who are also pictured in the bottom in photos which are left to right: Loren and Alexandrea, Sherry, Avery and Alexandrea.

The Mysterious Affair at Styles - Agatha Christie
Having read Death on the Nile, which is one of the more famous of the Poirot books, I wanted to try more. Honestly, it gripped me so well, I just had to! So I ordered the first five books that evening!
I spent most of this trying to guess the murderer, and I was sort of leaning towards the same person most of the way through, but I was honestly nowhere near! And I would never have guessed the murder method!
This probably wasn't quite as enjoyable as Death on the Nile, which I'm attributing to it being the first in the series, but I still ploughed through it in a single day. When I got home from work, I just had to go and lock myself away until I had finished it!
Minor spoiler: this had a similar outcome to the first Christie I tried, which I'm guessing is pure coincidence, and they're not just all exactly the same! I'm going to move on to the next book in the series, and see what happens! I should try to refrain from guessing the ending, though, because I won't get it right!

Yes, there is absolutely! a comment period, and it has been extended to June 12th! As far as I understand: you can make public comment here. I think it's crucial to note that while this encompasses negligence around broken and mishandled equipment, and people with those sorts of horrors should absolutely submit comment! it by no means limits itself to that. This rule also concerns itself with enforcement of improper transfers, ala the grueling, humiliating ordeal of Charles Brown. Which I'm frustrated more people aren't emphasizing, as it matters so fucking much to get voices who've been dehumanized in similar fashion into the comments, too. There's a brilliant list of Do's and Don't's linked as a list on the comment page. Per that list's request, I'd urge you to peruse the full regulation before commenting

As a disabled person who's loved LEVERAGE and LEVERAGE REDEMPTION since the beginning - for the characters but also the whole ethos of performing acts that help people against crap systems, it's wonderful to be reminded that it springs from reality.
#I wasn't seeing a good reblog chain with both the transcript. and thank you OP! for both doing a transcript! and! ensuring all the links#posted on Bluesky actually worked <33333333 out here doing god's work. but wasn't seeing a good compilation of both said script and! the#comment resources so *shrugs* made one.#look. I've been lucky. I'm ambulatory enough I can use airport wheelchairs for long distances on the rare occasions I fly. but I'm#profoundly aware that dynamic could change. Even now. I still wouldn't have been able to do anything with distance because#I get so tired on the cane. and dear God. that's a $119 affair. If I actually have to transition to an electric one. I can't even#*imagine* the terror. I do know I'd never have the monetary ability to bring it with me *anywhere* without much. much stronger guarantees#on replacement. and. while it's nothing to Mr. Brown or so many other horrors I've heard of#I absolutely ended up with an aching and bruised face. thanks to the TSA agent insisting I stand up for a pat-down and not thinking to#tell my blind ass about the mat I was about to stumble on. most folk? would've caught their balance from such a minor stumble.#with my CP? it was down onto the nose goes Nick hour. so I absolutely know this shit happens frequently. all that said!
