Japanese Central Government Agency (7) Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology
"Education in a ruined country" promotion agency. In recent years they have been credited with bringing Japanese universities down from world standards. In addition, 'relaxed education' brought about the devastation of education.
In terms of foreign language education as well, by emphasizing only "listening and speaking" in the basic English education, the Japanese are promoted to be nothing more than servants of the British and Americans. It is a so-called semi-lingualization that makes it impossible to think logically.
This central government office has no reason to exist.
Rei Morishita

So, remember the 5000 TONS OF FOOD that were supposed to go to community kitchens that Milei's administration refused to give (even though legally the Argentine state should?) Here's the very, very abridged story so far:
When Milei was inagurated, because of his anti-state spending fanaticism, he concentrated the ministries of education, health, science and technology and others into a single mega "human capital" ministry. The name is dystopian enough, but he also put his personal "friend" Sandra Pettovello in charge. Pettovello has just a 2-years degree in "family science" and no experience at all with administration and she was left with all that. Predictably, things are turning to shit, universities and science are defunded (which as you can imagine has affected me very personally), cancer patients have already died because of lack of medicine, and basically everything related to education health and social justice in Argentina is being defunded and in crisis.
The Human Capital (literally 1984) ministry was also supposed to support community kitchens (comedores) which provide for poor people are often administered by popular associations. These associations, being left-leaning and anti-Milei are often hit with accussations of corruption, which are sometimes true, but never to the extent that they're accussed of. So Milei and Pettovello retained, again, 5000 TONS OF FOOD that were supposed to feed hungry people until they 'investigated' these popular associations. Of the hundreds and hundreds of acussations, less than two dozens are currently being investigated. Pettovello insulted the people who said they were going hungry saying that they could queque in the Human Capital ministry and she'll recieve them (and they did as a sort of protest).
Many activists like Grabois (the evil leftist zurdo kirchnerist) demanded through the justice that the food was released. The government and its trolls called them thieves, corrupt, etc. etc. and they started lying (as in the official spokesman, the puppet Adorni) that the food was reserved for emergencies (it was requested for recent emergencies and denied) then that it was of poor quality (it wasn't), and Grabois and other denounced that the food was going to expire, and it should be released NOW. Even pro-Milei right-wing journalists had to recognize that Grabois was right, and hell is freezing over. Meanwhile the chief of cabinet, head of ministers, whatever the translation, was fired for spying and likely insulting Milei's sister. How did Milei respond to this political crisis? He went in honeymoon with his sister to visit some shitty tech CEO forum. He cannot stop visiting shitty right-wing forums.
Finally Pettovello and the government (not Milei, he's busy sucking CEO cock in the US) admited that the food, especially powdered milk, was about to expire and should be distributed by the army (which has no idea what to do but that's how the right thinks), and to cover herself, she threw one of her secretaries, De La Torre, to the anti-corruption office. However, she cannot save herself because everything that De La Torre did was under HER signature, and what's worse it was recently discovered De La Torre had over 100 employees that were cashing millions of pesos without a single day of work, and THAT was also approved by Pettovello. This is probably just the tip of the iceberg of the corruption in Milei's government, which has been just a circus of personal friends and incompetents. What's funny is that people like Grabois were acussed to be corrupt wasters of state money, by De La Torre, and now HE'S likely going to prison for being a corrupt waster of state money.
Speaking of which, Pettovello, by all accounts, is not capable or ready to holding the ministry, she often breaks down crying (too bad, but people are dying because of her incompetence), and most of her subordinates are resigning in droves. Milei remains ironclad in his support for her, though. In fact, he might have REJECTED her resignation when she presented it. Why? Well, when you look at the register of visits to the presidential residence, Pettovello has spent several nights there. It might be that she's really Milei's 'therapeutical companion' with her 'reiki sessions'. At least it's not his sister Karina? Well, while his government and the country is in flames, Milei was taking selfies with Mark Zuckerberg and now is visiting Bukele while Karina (again, his sister) acts like the first lady, and is basically treated as such by libertarians.
It would be all so chaotic and funny if people weren't deprived of education, health and food because of this.
Milei has been president for 6 months, by the way.

China revealed this week it aims to spend more than a billion dollars to bolster manufacturing and domestic tech in a bid to remain globally competitive, while divulging little new support for the struggling real estate market.
Industrial support clearly ranked first on Beijing’s priority list for the year ahead, according to three major plans released this week as part of China’s annual parliamentary meetings.
One of those reports, from the Ministry of Finance, said the central government would allocate 10.4 billion yuan ($1.45 billion) “to rebuild industrial foundations and promote high-quality development of the manufacturing sector.”
While that’s down from the 13.3 billion yuan earmarked for the same category last year, the sector overall gained greater prominence. In 2023, plans to spend on industrial development came second to support for consumption.
“Unlike other economies that went through a wrenching adjustment in their housing market, China’s investment rate isn’t falling,” HSBC’s chief Asia economist Frederic Neumann and a team said in a report Friday. “Instead, [capital expenditure] is shifting towards infrastructure and, importantly, manufacturing.”[...]
Chinese authorities in 2020 intensified a crackdown on real estate developers’ high reliance on debt for growth. Property sales have since plunged while developers have run out of money to finish many projects, cutting into what was once about 25% of China’s GDP when including related sectors such as construction.[...]
Despite widespread attention on whether Beijing would bail out the property sector, real estate got no mention in the finance ministry’s spending plans, and limited attention in a ministry-level press conference about the economy during the parliamentary meetings. Instead, the housing minister was included in the lineup for a press conference about people’s livelihoods.
“Supporting the modernization of the industrial system” came first in the finance ministry’s report, followed by “supporting the implementation of the strategy of invigorating China through science and education.”
Within that second priority, the finance ministry said it would allocate 31.3 billion yuan for improving vocational education. Amid high youth unemployment, especially for university graduates, electric car company BYD and battery maker CATL are among those working with vocational schools to train staff for their expanding workforce.[...]
The report from the National Development and Reform Commission, the top economic planner, reiterated government plans to support some developers’ financing needs — under the eighth item on the priority list that called for preventing financial risks. The government work report presented by Premier Li Qiang gave real estate a similar level of prominence.
8 Mar 24
China will improve home sales in a "forceful" and "orderly" way, Minister of Housing and Urban-Rural Development Ni Hong said on Saturday (Mar 9), as weak demand in the country's beleaguered residential property market persists.[...]
Some developers should be allowed to go bankrupt or restructured according to legal and market-based rules, Ni said told a press conference on the sidelines of the annual meeting of parliament in Beijing.
Premier Li Qiang said this week that China will quicken the development of "a new model" for the troubled sector, focussing on building more affordable housing and meeting demand for homes.
But China will insist that "housing is for living in, not for speculation" when formulating a new development model for the sector, Ni said, reiterating an official line against property speculation.

{18Trip} <CHAPTER 001 SIDE-A: Sun will R1ze!> 001-A05 First Strategy Meeting
A translation of 18TRIP's CHAPTER 001 SIDE-A by 82mitsu. ENG proofreading by sasaranurude.
Kafka: Mhm, all the founding employees being assembled really makes you feel like the reality of it all has kicked in.
Kafka: However, what we’re doing here isn’t some get together for friends. Bringing proper results is our goal. For the time being I want to explain the restoration plan I came up with though, is that okay?
Yachiyo: …Um, uhm…
Yachiyo: That special tourism ward thingie mentioned in the documents… What uh, is …it?
Kafka: ………
Sakujiro: I cannot believe we have to start from there.
Yachiyo: Sosososososorry!!!!!!!!!!!!
Kaede: (Living in JPN in this day and age, and not knowing about special tourism wards… Maybe Yachiyo-kun is some sheltered boy?)
Kafka: Sakujiro, you know what to do.
Sakujiro: Of course, President. Fuefuki-kun, please look this way. It’s an educational video aimed at children titled “Tourism For Beginners”.
Kaede: (That video…! It’s the one I saw while I was in preschool…!)
Mister Rabbit: “Hello all good boys and girls! Today Mister Rabbit and-”
Little Miss Lion: “Little Miss Lion~!”
Mister Rabbit & Little Miss Lion: “-Will be learning all about the tourism industry~!”
Little Miss Lion: “Hey hey Mister, why do people call JPN the nashion of toorism?”
Mister Rabbit: “Good question, Little Lion! You see, JPN isn’t the only “nation of tourism” out there, since many countries all over the world are the same as JPN!”
Mister Rabbit: “People from the past worked very hard and made many machines. Thanks to the power of science, everyone’s got lots and lots of free time! Which is why traveling became a very popular way of playing!”
Little Miss Lion: “People from all over the woreld are trafeling!?”
Mister Rabbit: “Yes they are! A lot of effort was put into creating a “Ministry of Tourism” so everyone can have lots of fun, even in JPN!
Mister Rabbit: “In particular, the places where lots of tourists go to play are called “special tourism wards”, and support is provided in all sorts of ways throughout the whole country so everyone can have fun!”
Little Miss Lion: “Waaah~! Does that mean taxes becoming cheaper too~!?”
Mister Rabbit: “Yes, you bet! Among other things, in a “special tourism ward”, there’s the official position of “0th Ward Mayor”, someone with a loooot of powerful authority!
Little Miss Lion: Little Lion love love loves authoreety~! What can I do if I become the 0th Ward Mayor? Can I destroy the entire neighborhood~?”
Mister Rabbit: “Ahaha! Little Miss Lion makes some funny jokes! But, maybe you can? wink”
Mister Rabbit: “The 0th Ward Mayor can advertise tourism, choose who gets to be a Ward Mayor and decide on what the local tourism should be about!”
Mister Rabbit: “Whether it's killing or reviving the neighborhood, that all depends on the 0th Ward Mayor and the other mayors!”
Little Miss Lion: “Waaauw, when I grow up Little Miss Lion will definitely become the 0th ward mayor and obtain all the authoreety in the world~!”
Kaede: (... Did this video always have such a dark twist to it…?)
Yachiyo: Tremble tremble tremble… The 0th Ward Mayor is an authoritarian figure……………!
Daniel: Hweh~ I see now, uh-huh~ That’s what special tourism wards and 0th Ward Mayors were all about, huh.
Kaede: (Hold on, what do you mean Daniel-san didn’t know about this!? The previous company he worked at WAS a travel agency…!)
Kafka: So, the mentioned 0th Ward Mayor is what I am, basically…
Yachiyo: Hieh, you’re gonna destroy the neighborhood…!?
Kafka: Well, whether the ward sinks or swims all depends on the Ward Mayor themself. In fact, my own father is the one who almost killed HAMA, so…
Kaede: (Kafka, your smile is creepy…)
Kafka: It wasn’t mentioned in the video, but special tourism wards also have their disadvantages.
Kafka: Instead of receiving support from the country, they’re put under surveillance by the 23 wards of Tokyo connected to the government. Our own supervisory authority is in the hands of Tokyo’s 8th Ward Mayor.
Kaede: Shigematsu Hakkei-san who was at the inauguration… right?
Kafka: Yes. Ward Mayors like him frequently come sightseeing without prior notice. So if the hospitality level is low, a negative review will be drafted up immediately—think of them like some kind of menace of a sister-in-law.
Nayuki: However, you cut all financial support from the capital, right? Then in that case, the 8th Ward of Tokyo must not have the right to interfere with tourism policies anymore.
Kafka: Exactly that♪ I’ll be taking bold, drastic measures with our tourism policies this year.
Kafka: If we don’t reach the quota of required tourists in a year, HAMA will lose its status as a special tourism ward and my role will disappear too.
Kaede: We just gotta get over that hurdle of drawing in tourists, right…
Kafka: So that’s all to say, in order to revive HAMA I put a plan together under the name of “NEO18Wards”.
Nayuki: According to the documents… the benchmark is the 9 wards of KOBE?
Yachiyo: Marking benches?
Sakujiro: A blueprint, an example, the goal we’re aiming for. That’s the meaning of it, Fuefuki-kun.
Yachiyo: Muh! Memo, memo…!
Kaede: Why KOBE-9 though, if you don’t mind telling us?
Kafka: The reason is simple. KOBE and HAMA are both port cities, making them rivals that've been getting compared for as long as they've existed. Though, KOBE is crushing the competition at the moment.
Nayuki: If I remember correctly, KOBE did a large-scale reformation on their approach to tourism a few years back, and established a plan for the Ward Mayors to be directly involved with hospitality.
Kafka: Exactly. To begin with, what people are trying to find by traveling is a fresh, personal human connection that they cannot experience on a daily basis due to the mechanization and automation of the modern age.
Kafka: Such an element cannot be easily replicated by technology.
Kaede: (That’s true…)
Kafka: HAMA’s failure is attributed to the surplus of tourism policies attracting way too many tourists for its own good, and in turn this lowered the quality of hospitality to each individual as a whole.
Kafka: To get us out of this situation, it’s necessary to give tourists the experience of courteous hospitality just like in KOBE.
Nayuki: A simple but a very reliable method, if I had to say. Nonetheless, what do we do about the policies to increase tourism?
Kafka: That’s the Nayuki I know, always quick on the uptake♪
Kafka: First, we’ll narrow it down to domestic affairs… When thinking about the population of JPN, there are only so many people that travel on a regular basis, after all.
Kafka: It’s a situation where every city wants a piece of the pie. Keeping that in mind, the only way to increase tourism is by increasing the amount of repeat tourists.
Kafka: Not just touring all the famous spots as people have been until now, but transforming all of HAMA into a tourist attraction and establishing a fanbase is what’s essential here. Which is why… I intend to increase the number of Ward Mayors for exactly this reason.
Kaede: More Ward Mayors…?
Kafka: Currently, there are three Ward Mayors left in HAMA. The plan is to appoint a Ward Mayor to all 18 wards in due time.
Nayuki: It’s the 0th Ward Mayor’s job to lead the other mayors, right. Wouldn’t management be a heavy burden with such a large number of people?
Kafka: It’s me, remember? Think I can’t pull it off?
Nayuki: … You have a point.
Kafka: Though, first we start bolstering what we have with the current Ward Mayors. Sakujiro, you know what to do.
Sakujiro: Yes, President. Click click, as you asked.
Kaede: …Splitting up the 18 wards into four areas? By morning, noon, evening and night…?
Kafka: That’s right. By the way, the intention behind the name is along the lines of “Enjoy your trip to HAMA from morning till night”♪
Kafka: Which leads us to the following. Yachiyo, Sakujiro, Nayuki and Daniel. All of you will be providing full-time support to each squad respectively. As for the role itself—I’ll simply call you “conductors”.
Yachiyo: Eh, eeeh…!? Such, such an important task, me!?
Kaede: (For Yachiyo-kun this is definitely too much… W-wonder if this is okay.)
Kafka: No worries. Yachiyo is in charge of Morning Squad, which includes me. Chief-chan, you’ll be keeping an eye on all squads, okay?
Kaede: G-got it.
Kaede: (I feel the pressure, but… I said I’ll face anything that comes at me. Gonna give it my all…!)
Nayuki: Dividing into groups and establishing squads, I can understand. However, what is the meaning behind going through the trouble of dividing?
Kafka: The fact that we’ll get the Ward Mayors of each squad to coordinate and create a superior touring plan. There's a limit on how much our tourism resources can be fortified when our time is restricted to one year.
Kaede: (That’s true… Right now we’re unable to sit down and create new facilities, and increasing what sights to see isn’t an easy task.)
Kafka: But, we do have something we can use immediately. What do you think that is?
Yachiyo: Eh……, eh………
Kaede: Can use immediately…?
Daniel: Our amazing Bossman’s money? Gahah, just joshing!
Nayuki: …I see, that’s what it is.
Kafka: It’s none other than human resources.
Kaede: (Ah…!)
Kafka: I’ve said it before, right? What people look for on travels is something that cannot be replicated by technology.
Kafka: Extremely hard to quantify that the numbers may as well be random. An existence whose pattern is indecipherable to the whole word. That’s what “humans” are.
Kafka: I’m wagering on the “human” potential of Ward Mayors. A meeting between people—there’s no personal experience more intense than that.
Nayuki: If this is the President’s plan of action, I will provide my support.
Nayuki: Though, will the current Ward Mayors give their endorsements? All wards had been operating independently up until now.
Kafka: I’m the 0th Ward Mayor, remember?
Kafka: Just sit back and watch how I’ll make them say yes.

Møt meg i Malaga (Meet Me in Malaga) is a ca. late 80s educational game made by the youth and sports division of the norwegian Ministry of Culture and Science. You are trying to make your way from Norway to Malaga on interrail safely, making good choices, navigating hazards like drugs, gambling and STDs. A friend of mine when i was little actually bought this game based on the written description in a mailorder catalog, hoping for some kind of racy and illicit game. I guess maybe that's what it's supposed to be?

Multicolor persistent luminescent materials for dynamic optical anti-counterfeiting
Optical anti-counterfeiting technology, as a preventive measure, has deeply permeated our daily lives. Visually readable codes designed based on optical materials are widely used due to their ease of verification, reasonable cost, and difficulty in replication. The rapid development of modern technology and the increasingly rampant activities of counterfeiting pose greater challenges to optical anti-counterfeiting technology. Consequently, optical anti-counterfeiting material systems based on multimodal integrated applications have garnered widespread attention. In a new paper published in Light: Science & Applications, a team of scientists, led by Professor Jing Wang from Ministry of Education Key Laboratory of Bioinorganic and Synthetic Chemistry, State Key Laboratory of Optoelectronic Materials and Technologies, School of Chemistry, Sun Yat-sen University, China, and co-workers have developed a non-stoichiometric persistent luminescence (PersL) inorganic material, CaGaxO4:Bi (x < 2), which is capable of responding to various ultraviolet light stimuli.

Exit polls were right on the money.
We have 212 for the current ruling party + their alt-right potential coalition and 248 for left/center/christian center, which DO NOT veer right, as right is "crazy bad".
Also, we got 66 out of 100 senators. I mean. I was expecting 50 and change. Not REGULAR FULL BLOWN 2/3.
I... I was tracking the ones in Warsaw and surrounding voting commissions, looking for any changes or drops, but "our" candidates kept at steady ~70% for almost entire day. Some peaking at 75%.
I'm still a bit shaky. And the president will anyway call for a prime minister and government to be created by the "winning party" which is still PIS. Which they can't do because they are an effective minority...
So. Fuck them. Fuck all of them.
I feel better now. Shaky, but better. I have, in fact, woken up in a better Poland today.
To quote (and paraphrase) Joanna Szczepkowska: Drodzy państwo, 15 października 2023 roku skończyła się władza PiS.
(it was a famous recording from 1989, when she said "Dear viewers, on the 4th of June, the communism has ended in Poland"; now she did it again, after these elections, just pointing to PiS)
Last week before election.
In Poland.
Guys.
Fingers crossed, good vibes, even thoughts and prayers. I'm not a person of faith, but hell, I'll take thoughts and prayers at this stage. Please please please someone make these stinking bastards LOSE. Just fucking LOSE.
They took over the constitutional tribunal and did the "oups that's not constitutional anymore" to our abortion rights (more or less what happened to Roe...). They managed to put their own bought corrupt stinky judges into way too many courts. They are forcing fucked up "patriotic" curriculum on the kids. They messed up the school system FOR MY SON when he was just in the middle of his education. They are endangering pregnant women by criminalising even miscarriage (a woman who miscarried reported that police checking out the sewers coming from her house...) They are keeping refugees on the border, not allowing them even to petition for protection, throwing people into the woods in autumn and winter, kids, pregnant women...
(I know these things are not equal, but they just fuck up so much at the same time I can't even summarise it properly...!)
I just want them to GO. GO AWAY, stop ruining my country. I am not a very patriotic person, I'm not 100% of one nationality or other, half of my family is from all around the bloody continent, from Carrara to Mariupol. But I live in Poland and I'm just.
So.
Tired.
Of.
Them.
...we need to vote them the fuck out of the office...
#poland#politics#polish politics#PiS is “Law and Justice” just so you know how self-righteous they are#let us just now carry on until the new government is formed#I wish to see MY MPs being nominated to important seats#the ministry of cultural heritage#education and science#I wish to see them as speakers of the house and as speakers of the senate#just keeping myself sane by repeating: we are OK now. we will be OK now

The High Representative in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Christian Schmidt, on Thursday issued an order to support key cultural national institutions, including the National and University Library in Sarajevo, amid severe financial difficulties. The decision follows decades of unmet obligations by local authorities, pushing these institutions to the brink of collapse.
Using his so-called “Bonn powers”, Schmidt – the international official responsible for overseeing the implementation of the peace deal that ended the Bosnian war – delivered his order in front of the library, which closed last month due to its financial problems.
Schmidt said that his decision aims to protect all major state-level cultural institutions “if they ever come into the same situation”.
“I would like to call on everyone to contribute in this context. Bosnia and Herzegovina, as the founder of these institutions, is obliged to exercise its responsibilities, including appointments to positions and funding,” he said.
He emphasised the plight of seven national cultural institutions: the Bosnian Cinematheque, the National Museum, the Historical Museum, the Museum of Literature and Performing Arts, the Library for the Blind and Visually Impaired, the Art Gallery, and the National and University Library.
Schmidt pointed out that library workers have been working without pay since March and library phone lines have been cut off due to unpaid bills.
This year, the assembly of Sarajevo Canton, one of ten cantons in Bosnia’s Federation entity, passed a Law on Temporary Co-financing for key cultural institutions, promising partial support.
But the Ministry of Science, Higher Education and Youth allocated only 220,000 Bosnian marks, or some 122,000 euros, for 2024, the same as the year before but nearly 200,000 marks less than in 2022. This only covers two months of salaries.
The Federation entity’s Ministry of Education and Science has not issued a public call for co-financing, and the funds it has provided are insufficient and temporary. Similarly, the Federation Ministry of Culture and Sports has not issued a public call to support cultural institutions sufficiently.
Bosnia’s old City Hall is one of the most iconic buildings in the country. Opened in 1896 under Austro-Hungarian rule, Archduke Franz Ferdinand was assassinated shortly after leaving it in 1914, triggering World War I.
It became the national library in 1949. Bosnian Serb forces besieging Sarajevo shelled it in 1992 and almost destroyed it, while thousands of ancient manuscripts perished in a fire. Since then, the National Library has not been able to return to the City Hall.
“This institution survived an attack on August 25, 1992, when the Vijecnica [City Hall] was shelled. We must protect this symbol of tradition and this symbol of a shared future,” Schmidt remarked, underscoring the historical significance of the library.
The library, along with the other cultural institutions mentioned by Schmidt, has been unable to function properly due to unpaid bills.
Since it has been closed, the library has also been unable to issue the ISBN numbers that identify books, which Schmidt described as a “direct attack” on cultural development in the country.
Because a book needs an ISBN number and the library is the sole provider in the Federation entity, no books have been published in the entity since it closed in October. A different institution issues ISBN numbers in the Republika Srpska entity.
Schmidt’s new order will secure the payment of overdue electricity and phone bills, ensuring the institutions can continue to operate. He has given Bosnia’s Council of Ministers a 60-day deadline to propose a law that will regulate the future functioning of these institutions.
“This is an opportunity to restore not only the possibility of issuing ISBN numbers but to ensure the functioning of the library,” Schmidt added.

One thing I love about this series is that it infuses reality. The animators scatter things and places to make it believable like Easter eggs. It also resonates the sentiments of the characters to the audience.
1) Takahashiya Mall could be Takashimaya. The red emblem is the clue. It is a luxury store that can be likened to Selfridges where only branded items are sold. I assume they went to the Nihombashi Tokyo branch. Which gives us the impression that knowing Kazuki, this was his favorite place to buy his clothes, etc. Until Anna Hanyu told him of the wonders of the discount stores.
2) I can’t believe they put “smock” in quotations. And Rei meant it was a cookie. What a Schmuck. Understandable as the two of them didn’t have any experience with it. I wonder if they wanted us to search for the etymology of the word which is women’s undergarment.
What it is and what is it really
3) The list of items a child needs in the daycare center is not absurd actually including placing the child’s name on every item. I’ve heard this from acquaintances who are kindergarten pedagogues about the reason it is important to write your child’s name on their things. The number of items that are lost or taken unintentionally is an everyday occurrence in these institutions (kigas, schools, etc.) bc often a child doesn’t care especially if the pieces of clothing are not written with the owner’s name. They also discourage the parents not to dress up their children in branded clothes. The number of complaints they get when the children come back home with dirty clothes is far too many. Good for the Japanese childcare system for having a foresight.
Also, I realised that there are a couple of types of childcare institutions in Japan that even the natives get confused. In the series Kazuki claimed that yōchien (幼稚園) and hoikuen (保育園) are the same. (“It’s the same thing with a different name.”) They were talking about hoikuen the whole time. Not sure if it was the writer’s intention. Although Kazuki got the fish difference correctly.
Hoikuen are legally defined as a child welfare institution and are subordinate to the Ministry of Health, Labour and Social Affairs, MHLW for short. Their focus is on the care of children whose families cannot take care of them during the day. That's why they are also the first point of contact for families where both parents work. Hoikuen therefore have long opening hours and accept children under one year of age. If they fulfil the requirements of the Child Welfare Act, they will receive a state license.
…
So-called yōchien kindergartens, on the other hand, are defined as schools under Japanese law and resemble preschools. For this reason, they are also subordinate to the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, MEXT for short. Yochien only accept children from the age of three. Since they usually only offer half-day care, they are favoured by families where one parent does not work or works part-time. ( x )
Another source…
First of all, let’s define the word “daycare.” You might call it daycare or nursery school, but daycare in Japan is hoikuen (保育園) and is reserved for babies 56 days old up to 6 years old.
This is not to be confused with kindergarten (幼稚園 | yōchien), which is exclusively for kids 3 years old until they enter first grade. ( x )
4) Kazuki’s attempt to fit in on Miri’s first day at the daycare was not so far from the truth really.
Somewhere is a Louis Vuitton shopping bag
Believe it or not, Japanese mothers put a lot of effort on their choice of clothing on the day of the kindergarten interview. Kazuki had probably searched for those things and encountered the webpages where mothers gave advices on what to wear on this occasion. Take a note from this social content creator who used to work as a kindergarten teacher in Japan and is also a mum.
There is an “unofficial” dress code for these events, which is one step up from a funeral and a few notches down from an entrance ceremony. Take a look at what parents (mainly moms) should wear! ( x )
Too bad they exaggerated it on Miri’s first day. I cannot entirely blame Kazuki though. Him being an orphan who had witnessed poverty and being ostracized because of it, I guess, his opinion on how the people are treated based on their outside appearance bears unpleasant memories that he strives away from. Though it was a bit unfair to point out Rei’s social standing when K is not entirely privy to his friend’s traumatic past.
5) If the forged document below contains a bit of some facts (very important for writing fan fiction): Kazuki was born on the 16th of May, 1994. A Taurus. Miri, on the other hand, was born in 2018 November 8. They live in Naka Ward, apartment 801, 2-chōme (city district) Natsuyoshi (<<— I don’t think that really exists) Yokohama Prefecture. That is if there were some truths in it.
