ROMEO AND JULIET WAS WRITTEN AS A PLAY if you’re complaining that it’s not like the 1996 film, which had guns instead of swords, mafia feuds, and most notably WAS A FILM, I hate to break it to you but the 1996 film is not a historically accurate portrayal of Romeo and Juliet. if you want a historically accurate Romeo and Juliet then go direct it yourself. people are allowed to direct according to their vision.
