How do I study for a midterm when I just found out my mom is dying. I'm so depressed and upset. But my midterm is due October 10th, so I don't have much room for being sad.

This midterm is important to me, but I'm struggling to motivate myself. I'm just shut down.

Hey there,

Firstly, I am so sorry to hear about your Mum. It is never easy to hear such tough and devastating news and especially when it is of such a close family member like your Mum. I know this may sound harsh but depending on how unwell your Mum is/ the length of time she has left, then perhaps not putting so much pressure on yourself in regards to your mid-term may be best. I suggest this because I would hate for you to feel really badly or guilty and consequently beat yourself up if you were to purely focus on your mid-term right now instead of not spending some quality time with your Mum.

Is it a possibility that you could speak with your teacher about your current circumstances with your Mum dying, and ask if you could apply for some special consideration for your mid-term? I think that this is a valid thing to at least try to look into as it may help to take the pressure off of you a bit. If this is not an option, then could you put your studies on hold for now and then refocus on your studies when you are feeling more up to it/ able to dedicate more time to it? I know that your mid-term is really important to you but you can only do so much right now and part of you may be grieving now (completely OK and normal) in readiness of when your Mum does pass so it’s really important to be kind to yourself right now.

If you do choose to try to focus your attention on your immediate studies and mid-term then try to be kind to yourself and just focus on one small bit of information at a time. Don’t force yourself for example in doing ‘x amount’ of work in ‘x amount’ of time as this may not be quite doable right now and will only stress you out further/ make it harder to study. Just do what you feel able to, this is a really tough time for you and no matter what I say/ advice I may give to you won’t make things any easier unfortunately.

So expliantion why this chapter is taking a bit beyond the original delay period is- I fucked up continuity. Or more so- as the story developed, some one of comments made towards the earlier chapters now go directly against where i want the story to go now

SO some of y'all may have noticed the new description update, which as of rn im going through and making those small shifts and edits throughout the fic

Dw about having to re read- after chapter 17 is updated I will be adding a temp chapter 18 with a quick bullet list of whats important to know changed

TLDR- 17 is done, BUT its the "next step" to a lot of major lore, and in that since its already been so long there wont be another good time to go back through for the small edits.

P.S the real chapter 18 is in the works, and so is a chunk of 19 im writing in advance- so I PROMISE this is the longest yall will ever have to wait period, after this back to regular schedule
