10 for smoke and mirrors? 😼
Heatwave stares at the bags he's packed.
The room is still just as full without his stuff, which doesn't make him feel any better about this. His guardians assured him that they weren't going to replace him as soon as he left, that they're done taking in sparklings, even with the extra space now.
The thought is nice, but Heatwave doesn't believe them, because he's heard that line too many times without any evidence backing it up. Which he doesn't really hold against them, he loves everyone that lives in his home, it's just...
It's not just regular jitters- sure, this is his first time leaving home, his first time alone, of course he's going to be nervous.
But he's not nervous. He's scared.
Heatwave really should bring up the strange hallucinations he’s been having with his guardians.
His tanks will oddly cramp, he’ll see things in the corners of his optics, or his visual input will suddenly become shimmery and swirly, as he watches events play out before they do.
Now, Heatwave has heard of outliers before. He’s not stupid. But he never thought…
Yet all the signs are there. He’s able to do something no one else can, or rather, something happens to him that doesn’t happen to anyone else. He overproduces coolant and runs hotter than any other mech.
He shouldn’t tell anyone. Outliers are required to be documented by the government, and Heatwave hasn’t heard too many stories of mechs being whisked away to government facilities never to be seen again, as their abilities are exhausted while the government tries to turn them into some sort of weapon.
So no, he’s not telling anyone.
“Heatwave!”
Snapdragon’s voice floats to his audials from downstairs.
“Coming!” He shouts back, leaving his stuff laid on his berth.
The living room is the center of a rare moment of peace- the sparklings are all down for naps, while the older mechs are all out and about. He can see the twins bickering quietly in the kitchen, though.
Snapdragon is standing next to the couch, while Hard Drive, his other guardian, leans on it towards her.
They’re both tall and bulky mechs, bigger than Heatwave. He hates feeling small, but it doesn’t feel so bad when he’s next to them.
“C’mere, kiddo,” Hard Drive says, grinning with badly disguised excitement. “We gotcha somethin’!”
Snapdragon produces a little box and with a grin to match Hard Drive’s, shoves it into Heatwave’s hands. “Go on, open it!” she encourages.
He does, keeping his field tight to his frame so his guardians don’t pick up on the feeling of foreboding he can’t seem to shake.
It’s a universal translator. Heatwave’s tanks drop.
“It was a while of savin’ up,” Snapdragon starts to explain, clapping her hands together with glee. “But so worth it. Our little Heatwave’s gonna be a Rescue Bot!”
Seemingly oblivious to his inner turmoil, both Heatwave’s guardians sweep him up into a crushing hug.
Primus. I can’t tell them I don’t want to go now!
Heatwave worries his lip between his fangs, but returns the hug. “Thank you,” he murmurs.
I have to… I have to at least try.
#heatwave’s good at slipping through the cracks when it comes to medical professionals#when you have something to hide you have to be#but he also has dormant coding even he doesn’t know about#but yeah#he is very much older middle child in giant family#he just like me fr!!!!!#well my family isn’t as big as his but still#and of course he’s nervous he’s leaving home for the first time and can apparently see the future now. I wouldn’t want to leave either#it ends up being a good thing of course#but one can’t help but wonder what would’ve happened if he’d stayed#I’ll go over more what happened to Kaon and heatwave’s family in the tags of a different ask#there are actually some familiar faces in heatwave’s family#but we’ll get to them later#but I am planning on fleshing out every square inch of this universe#maccadam#transformers#transformers rescue bots#woosh answers#thanks for the ask!!#rescue bots au#tfrb heatwave#smoke and mirrors au#academy s&m ask game#ask game

Much Needed Support (sfw-suggestive content) Part 1
JayVik x Reader Ramble
Idea: You’ve been overworking. Your aches and pains worsen by the day, and you can’t seem to tough it out like you used to… there’s only two people you really trust to help. 4.8k wordcount
Content: reader with feminine pronouns, sexual tension, fluff, partial nudity, boys getting shy about said nudity, mutual pining, self-doubt, idiots in love, getting sick, friends to lovers, discussions on medical neglect, mentions of chronic pain, descriptions of chronic pain (slightly implied hand kink???)
Very self indulgent selfiship coded x reader with a reader with scoliosis and joint issues to help me deal with feelings about own deterioration and struggles with findin a doc who’ll listen lol 🥲
Side note- this ended up much longer than I originally planned 😅 so this might end up being like 3 parts with MAYBE some spice ^v^
-You are a student at the academy in the arts and humanities department, a year below Jayce and Viktor, and you have worked your ass off to get here.
-You and Viktor have always gotten along; you were both from Zaun, both scholarship students, and both passionate about your work.
-Viktor introduced you to Jayce shortly after they partnered up, and the three of you become nearly inseparable.
-despite not even sharing a major, you found yourself in the lab during most of your free time, bantering and tossing ideas around, or sometimes quietly working on your own projects.
-for as long as Viktor’s known you, you’ve been energetic and passionate, but recently you’ve been acting a bit differently. Quieter, more despondent. You visited less frequently, and you seemed constantly exhausted.
-the change was gradual, how you seemed a bit more sluggish, had been walking a bit more slowly, movements a bit more calculated. And then one day, you tripped on the stairs while heading to the lab, a sharp pain having shot through your knee.
-you shrugged it off, insisting that you were fine and that it was just a bit slippery, but both of them could tell something was up.
-Jayce was actually the first to notice: how you constantly adjusted your gait, how you would wince at times when standing up, how you consistently had to correct your posture. Something was causing you pain, and you were trying to hide it.
-you were stubborn, and fiercely independent, and as such they were deterred from prying too much
-Viktor was the one who pointed out another clue: your clothes were always long and baggy, as if you were trying to hide something bulky beneath it. He could have even sworn seeing you looking a bit longer than usual at his leg brace one morning.
-in spite of how stubborn you were, they still cherished you greatly. which meant they could not allow you to go on like that,
-and all while they were brainstorming how to breach the topic, you were getting worse.
-the pain made it hard to sleep, the dull aching of the muscles around your spine needling you awake any time you began to drift off. You could feel you knees grinding and creaking with every step up the stairs. Your homemade remedies and exercises could only do so much to help, and you can only take so many pain pills a day.
-you were sick of being dismissed by upper city doctors, who claimed you were “too young” to have such issues, or chalked it up to stress or poor exercise. You had been dealing with these things since you were a child. But you were always told when you grew up, you would get better; stronger even. Now in your twenties, you look back bitterly, having only gotten weaker.
-you had a pair of simple, worn out compression braces for your knees. It had been patched and reinforced so many times that they were god awful to look at, not to mention the embarrassment you felt simply having to keep using them after all this time. They were easily covered up by the long skirts and baggy pants you usually wore.
-aside from that, you had an old, ill fitting corset that you used to attempt some semblance of support for your back. But it was all becoming too much. You had to get help, and soon, before it got even worse.
-as much as you didn't want to burden them, you had no other ideas left.
-right when you came to visit, both of them were already there, discussing the situation.
-perhaps it was the fatigue that made you finally cave, or maybe it was the longing to feel less alone in your pain. Regardless, you found yourself shuffling into the lab with all the energy of a cadaver.
—
“Is it really our place to ask though? If she’s being secretive, maybe there’s a deeper reason…” Jayce was pacing, tossing ideas back and forth in his head. “I mean, isn’t it a bit rude to just…ask out of the blue?” He sighs. “You may have a point, but we know her, Jayce” Viktor rose from his seat, interrupting the path of his partner’s pacing to place a reassuring hand on his arm.
“I…I know, I just-“
He was cut of by the sound of the door creaking open. Speak of the devil.
You looked tired, dark circles much more prominent than usual, and there seemed to be a touch of…anxiety?
“…hey guys. Been a minute.” You smiled weakly as you walked toward them. They looked between each other, as if trying to will the other to say something first. But before either of them could, you spoke up.
“I….you know I hate to ask but… I need your help”
“Of course! You know we’d do anything to help you out, what’s wrong?” Jayce pipes up, smoothly steering you toward a chair. Viktor quietly observes how you slump in relief, despite your posture remaining oddly stiff.
“I…well, uh….” You hang your head and sigh, as you struggle to get the words out “…do you know any good doctors? Preferably unbiased ones?” You muster a dry chuckle. They both furrow their brows in concern. “Of course, but what seems to be the issue?” Viktor chimes in, coming over to stand closer to you. You sigh, eyes once again lingering on his brace and his cane. “It…well it may just be easier to show you.”
You adjust yourself in the chair, and begin pulling up the hem of your long skirt. The two men freeze- you can tell they’re caught off guard by their faces as you do, and you can’t help but laugh a little. You bunch it up in your lap and their eyes land on your patchwork braces. Viktor’s eyes soften sympathetically, and you look away.
“…how long?” He steps closer to get a better look, and the proximity flusters you a bit. Jayce, follows suit, kneeling in front of you. You can them actively going into scientist mode, as you affectionately called it; eyes scanning and assessing your handiwork- or rather, the *failure*of your handiwork. You hesitate with your answer for a moment, eyes flitting between your two friends. There was nothing but sincere concern in their eyes, and you almost felt a bit guilty for not talking to them sooner.
“…not really sure, probably since I was a kid…but it’s only been getting worse. The damn things barely seem to work these days” you grumble, shifting your weight in discomfort. “And I…well I’d show you my back brace too but uh…that can probably wait” you trailed off, face getting warm at the mere thought of having to take your shirt off in front to the two men. You almost swore you saw a tinge of pink to Viktor’s ears as he cleared his throat, but perhaps it was just the light.
“Well, we’re not doctors….but if you don’t mind, would you let us have a closer look?” Jayce asks earnestly as he looks up at you, and you nod. He quickly clears a spot for you on the work table, and gestures for you to hop up. You hesitate for a moment, wearily eyeing the two of them before situating yourself on the table.
If there’s one thing to be said about those two, it’s that they’re efficient. After having you remove your old braces, they immediately set to work sketching, brainstorming, and most importantly- assessing your condition. They ask you more about your condition: is the pain sharp or dull? What tasks or activities aggravate it? How long has it been worsening? Do you take any medications for the pain? Do you have a diagnosis?
Much to your embarrassment the answers were difficult to muster. Most doctors topside would scoff, say you looked healthy enough and that you were too young for such issues, and send you on your way without so much as an exam. “Perhaps you aren’t active enough” or “it’s likely just stress” were the most common responses. This much attention being paid toward you was…odd almost. Refreshing, comforting even, but odd nonetheless.
“Y'know, for a while I was convinced I was just being dramatic… that’s what my last doctor said anyways. So it’s nice to be taken seriously for once!” You beamed as Viktor took notes. At those words, however, his pencil abruptly stopped. Jayce also looked up from the diagram he was sketching with a furrowed brow.
“I’m sorry…your doctor said what?” Viktor inquired, his tone tight and clipped. It quickly dawned on you that you had never seen him look so angry before, let alone on your behalf. It almost made you want to shrink away from that piercing gaze. Instead, you blinked, slowly repeating yourself before elaborating.
“Uh…yeah. My doctor wouldn’t give me a diagnosis or refer me elsewhere, and instead just recommended more exercise…” you scoff mirthlessly at the memory, how you felt so foolish and alone in that office under the doctor’s condescending gaze.
“…needless to say, I don’t see him anymore, aha…ha” you try to fill the silence with an awkward laugh, but neither of them laugh with you.
“And this… happens often? You’re dismissed like that?” Jayce asks, eyes fixed on your legs. It was strange for you to see the two of them so tense, especially on your behalf. You nodded, with a dejected grimace.
“…they usually think someone like me is after painkillers, so I get it- I really do. And it’s true that it’s odd for someone my age to be…well, like this-“ you gesture vaguely to yourself and to your discarded braces with a bitter expression.
“But… I just can’t tough it out like I used to. Even if I am being dramatic” you sigh, the mere act of explaining your situation only furthering your fatigue. “I…I’m sorry, didn’t mean to upset you with my sob story-“
“Don’t apologize.” Viktor cuts you off, his voice gentle, but firm. “Never apologize for this. It was wrong of them to neglect you.” He sets down his notepad next to you on the table, eyeing your old braces with disdain. “I know all too well what it is like. So do not apologize for seeking a solution to your pain.” His tone went soft, gentler than you’d ever heard him. There was none of the usual sass or clinical edge to his words, and in turn it made you feel softer as well. It reminded you why you had come for their help in the first place.
These were your friends- and they would do anything to help you.
“Vik is right. We’re not mad at you, we’re mad at those idiot doctors for not doing their jobs!” Jayce chimes in. It makes you smile, despite the odd urge to cry. Instead of risking tears by attempting to respond, you simply nodded once more. “Once we’re done in here I’ll get you the contact info for my doctor. She’s good at what she does, and Viktor’s been to her a few times. Sounds good?”
You smile, your unease slowly ebbing away
“Yeah, sounds like a plan!”
“So, let’s get to work shall we?”
—
-The two men quickly resumed their work with a new fervor. A prototype sketch was done within the hour, and all that was left before the first draft could be made was the measurements. You knew this part might be a tad awkward. What you did not know, is how unbothered the two of them were when it came to personal space while they were in “work mode”.
-You sat on the table, skirt hiked up to your mid thighs as the two of them sat before you with a measuring tape and a pad of paper, delicately handling each leg as they measured. And soon enough , they began to bicker over the design.
-and you quickly learned that your friends were very hands on with their brainstorming.
“It does not need to be that long, her condition is much different than mine, so the brace must be different as well!” Long fingers slid up your calf, resting just under your knee, gently holding it higher as if to show Jayce his error. “The brace should end here, not there” he asserted, drawing invisible lines over your shin and a few inches above your knee. It took a lot of willpower not to shudder at the sensation. “Any longer and it would be bulky and cumbersome, which is what we are seeking to avoid”
Viktor’s hands were cold, and rougher than you expected, no doubt from years of tinkering and inventing. You were not going to lie to yourself and say you hadn’t stared at them before, as he wrote or worked on prototypes. You also couldn’t say you hadn’t thought about them more…intimately either. How they would feel on your bare skin. But as he drew his invisible schematic on your leg, all your curiosities were answered as you let out a small gasp.
The feeling was nice. A little too nice.
He stopped instantly, looking up with worry.
“I am sorry, did I hurt you? I will be gentler…”
“Ah! N-no I’m fine! Your…uh…your hands are just a bit cold…” you manage to stammer out. There was no way in hell you could tell him the real reason.
“Apologies… I didn’t think about that…” he sheepishly put your leg back down and returned to his notes. Once you were free from the tantalizing sensation of his fingers tracing your skin, you were quickly shackled once more by the feeling of Jayce’s hand cupping your other leg.
“I get that it’s different V, but I’m trying to be practical for day to day wear. If it’s too short, it’ll keep sliding out of place throughout the day! It should start here and end here. So that it’s less likely to ride up or down during the course of the day.”
You could barely process what he was saying, as you were too fixated on the fact that his hand; his very warm hand that was nearly large enough to wrap around your calf, was now resting dangerously high on your leg, just below where you had gathered your skirt into your lap. Any higher and he’d be properly groping your thigh.
Jayce’s hands were rough as well, with quite a few prominent calluses and healed scrapes. The sensation of his palm on the sensitive skin of your thigh sent electricity through your nerves-tingly and warm.
And again. You’d be a liar if you claimed you’d never thought about it. But in a situation like this, sleep deprived and fatigued as you were, it was much more difficult to ignore that fact. The reality of his hands on you made your head spin.
Remain calm. Remain professional.
These are your friends. They are just trying to help.
Damn them for being so pretty
“Well, what do you think?”
“Yes, which do you like better?”
The questions snapped you out of your internal crisis.
“Huh? Oh, right! Uh….” It was difficult to form an answer with the both of them looking up at you so expectantly.
“Is…is there no middle ground? Maybe a m-mix of both?” You offer feebly. They look between each other competitively, before looking once more at their individual notes, and then back to you.
“I…suppose it could be done.” Was all Viktor was able to concede. Knowing how particular he could be, it was the best Jayce was going to get.
“Sorry if we got carried away…you know how we get” Jayce chuckled. “But now that that is out of the way, we can take a look at your back brace now.” He began absentmindedly caressing your leg with his thumb, a reassuring gesture no doubt. Viktor was doing something similar, his hand back under the crook of your knee. But the sensation, and the proximity made you tense up as you averted your gaze.
For a split second, confusion crossed his face-before he realized what he was doing. Jayce abruptly stood up, pulling his hand away. Now it was his turn to chuckle awkwardly, gesturing to Viktor to release your other leg as well. Viktor blinked, looking between you and Jayce, before looking down at the somewhat intimate position the two of you were currently in. He quickly followed suit, scooting his chair back and busying his hands with more notetaking, his ears definitely pink this time.
-you decided to promptly disregard their reactions. You were friends after all! Surely there was nothing else going on right? Anyone would get a little flustered in that kind of position. Your friends didn’t see you like that…right?
-besides, you could’ve sworn they had something going on with each other anyways…
-to remain productive (and totally not because you couldn’t look them in the eye) you got off of the table and promptly told them to turn around so you could get your sweater off
-they quickly complied, and the room was quiet aside from the rustling of clothes.
-not having a proper back brace, you had modified an old underbust corset with additional boning. But now you were starting to outgrow it once again, and there’s only so many times you could take it out before needing to find a new one.
-all you really wore beneath it was a thin slip so that the corset wouldn’t chafe your skin, but it was so flimsy you might as well have just been topless
And there you stood, hands on the table, under the white light of the overhead lamp. You shuddered as the cold air of the lab set in, and your own overthinking sent goosebumps over your exposed skin.
be normal. this is normal.
"Alright, now hurry up I'm getting cold-" you hiss, breaking the silence. You do not turn around, but you can feel their gaze on you; a moment of hesitation before you hear them approach. They are assessing you, yes, but there was something else beneath that as the two scientists raked their eyes over you: something you couldn’t quite place.
Viktor breaks the silence first, clearing his throat. Your eyes are still fixed on the table, the sudden sound causing you to flinch ever so slightly. You hope neither of them noticed. “Well…the design could definitely be worse, I can see where you tried to improve upon it…”
there was a but coming at the end of that sentence. You could feel it.
“But, In the long run it may end up doing more harm than good, considering the state of the garment itself…” he gently taps the row of tattered lacing running down the back. You nod, willing your voice not to crack. “So- what should we do? It’s all I can really afford at the moment…”
“Don’t worry about that- we’re more worried about making sure whatever we come up with is comfortable” Jayce chimes in, retrieving his measuring tape and notepad once more.
“Now, I need you to stand with your back as straight as possible for a moment, can you do that?” You nod, and you can feel him directly behind you as you straighten up. It’s uncomfortable, and you hear a few soft, telltale cracks as you do it. You groan quietly, and you feel him still for a moment.
“…don’t worry about it, just do what you gotta do.” You mumble, shifting your weight between your feet.
“Ah-uh- right! Right…” he laughs it off as he proceeds with his measurements and notes, quick, methodical, and very gentle. Every so often, skin would brush skin, his warm touch would linger, and you became increasingly aware of just how warm he was behind you: like a human space heater. It would be so easy in your exhausted state to simply lean back and melt into his chest, to bask in the warmth amidst the cold air of the lab and fall blissfully asleep.
Instead, with every ounce of composure you had, you avoided dozing off or leaning back. You could feel your eyes getting heavier before the deep timbre of Jayce’s voice brought you back.
“Alright, that’s done. You can rest now.”
You immediately slouch with a sluggish sigh, and you can nearly hear the furrowing of brows and the concerned expressions occurring behind you.
“We can stop if you are too fatigued, we should have enough to get started…” Viktor offered up, now nearly as close as Jayce was. You shook your head, taking a deep breath.
“No, no, I’m fine! It’s better to get this all over with now and save you both the trouble! So what next, huh?” You dredge up any remaining scraps of what could be perceived as enthusiasm as you turn your head to smile at Viktor.
The prospect of doing this again on a different day was already increasing your heartrate to an uncomfortable degree. Believe it or not; being examined by your two incredibly handsome scientist friends while half naked was something very anxiety inducing . Especially when you’ve been ignoring your growing feelings for said aforementioned handsome scientist friends. You felt awful for these thoughts and feelings, of course you did. So what better way to deal with this dilemma than to get it over with as quickly as possible. Right?
Wrong.
“Well, the last thing we really need is uh… well.” Jayce cleared his throat, carefully choosing his next words. “We’d want to get a look at your spine without your brace on, and take a few final measurements…”
Wrong. Dead wrong.
“… you need me to take it off?” You forced a nonchalant tone, unsure if it was convincing.
“Right. The measurements with it on will be slightly skewed since it is ill fitting in the first place…” Viktor added, a twinge of anxiety to his explanation. “But of course, only if you are comfortable doing so!” He quickly added. You began to spiral
Would it be weird to say yes? It would be more awkward if I refuse right? We’re all friends, this is fine! This is in a completely clinical context as well, so-
“Sure. No worries, uh-just… gimme a sec?” You blurted out before overthinking further, your hands leaving the table to fumble with the front closure of the corset. Your friends immediately averted their gaze, but did not completely turn around. Rather than dwelling on it, you focused on trying to get the busks open, before realizing you had laced it a bit tighter than usual that morning, thus making it a bit more difficult to get out of. You would need help. Great. You sigh.
“Uh… could one of you unlace me? It’s harder to get out of like this….”
The quiet that follows makes you cringe, and sets you a bit on edge, before Viktor pipes up behind you.
“Y-yes just a second”
You soon feel his cool hands against your back, nimble fingers finding the messy knot that kept your laces tight and marking short work of it. All three of you were quiet; no banter, no chatting, no bickering. Just the soft sound of laces being pulled through worn down grommets. Once it was loosened, you let out a breath it felt like you had been holding for a lifetime, slouching a bit as your back screamed at you.
Viktor leaned next to you, softly murmuring as he reassuringly placed a hand on your back. “Is that better?” His voice was low, soft, and held a bit of…restraint? You hoped the heat rising to your face wasn’t too noticeable, as the innocent action sent forth a troubling warmth in your gut. Not unpleasant, far from it. But troubling, given the circumstance.
“Mhm… y-yeah that’s better. Thank you” you murmured back, forcing your attention towards getting your corset off. The busks unhooked with ease as you shrugged off the patchwork garment, as well as your undershirt. As it fell to the floor, you instinctively moved to stretch, now free from the compression of your brace. A series of loud pops and cracks ring out into the lab as you did so, causing you to sigh in a unique mixture of relief and ache that you had grown accustomed to.
Once you had finished, you realized two things:
One: you were now completely topless in front of your two best friends
Two: neither of them had looked away this time.
Which could totally mean nothing
Upon this realization you kept your eyes forward, standing up as straight as you could once more, finding balance on the table.
“…well? go on, g-go ahead and look” you commanded weakly. Swallowing the anticipation that came with not being able to see them. Whose hands would you feel now? Whose breath would tickle your ear? You blamed your lack of sleep for how much your mind was wandering.
You felt a warm finger trace slowly down your spine, down from the nape of your neck, past your shoulder blades, before stopping and slowing down even further, following the unnatural curve that ended toward the middle of your back. It was Jayce, you realized. And a part of you was flustered even further now knowing you could tell it was him by just the feeling of his hands.
There was low murmuring, the sound of pencil on paper, and then Viktor’s hand, tracing from the bottom of your spine through your skirt, to the middle of you back before also stopping.
“…you’re too quiet. It’s unsettling” you manage to quip, starting to feel exposed under the bright light.
“…it’s your spine. You should’ve been fitted with a brace ages ago” Viktor finishes tracing his line up your back “a proper one, no offense to your handiwork of course.” He clarified.
“That bad huh?” You huff, wincing at the implication. You had known there was an issue for years now. But all you could do was your best in terms of treatment and preventative care. Every time it had crossed your mind to get checked out, you heard the condescending doctor’s voice echoing inside your skull: “you’re being dramatic.”
“Luckily, It seems manageable with a proper brace, and you already stretch and exercise, yes?” Viktor inquired behind you, his hand now resting on your shoulder. You hummed affirmatively, as you let yourself slouch once more. You knew it only contributed to your poor posture, but the temporary relief was worth it momentarily. The urge to fall asleep right then and there was overwhelming, even despite the cold. You could feel both of them shuffle back a bit as you did.
“Sorry, sorry! Did we take too long? Are you cold?” Jayce apologizes as he tries to get you warm again, picking up your sweater and getting it right-sides-out again. You let out a sleepy mumble as you reach back for it, turning toward him with your hand out.
Turning toward him.
After a few seconds of facing them with your hand out, and being confused as to why they were just standing there, avoiding your gaze, cheeks getting redder by the second; it hit you.
“Oh-oh shit! sorry, sorry, my bad-” you snatch up your sweater and quickly yank it on and you apologize profusely and so quickly that the words were barely recognizable.
Well, you were wide awake now.
You start rambling, trying to cram how you were cold and sleep deprived and achy all into the world’s fastest sentence as you got yourself together, gathering up your discarded braces. The only thing stopping you from bolting out of the door was the grinding of your now fully unsupported knees. You winced as you pitifully shuffled back to your chair, moving to put the braces back on.
The air was thick with…something.
It wasn’t quite tension, and although being a bit awkward it wasn’t quite full on embarrassment either. But it was something, and it was intense.
“….I’ll get going then…“ you murmur, standing on unsteady legs. Except now you weren’t sure if you were unsteady because of the pain, or because of the dizzying memory of their hands on your skin.
For a moment, your fatigue catches up to you; your legs feel like static and your vision blurs around the edges. Before you even have the chance to stumble, Jayce’s arms are around you.
“Easy there! Just give us a second, we’ll get you back to your dorm okay?”
“But-“ you were cut off by the sound of Viktor shushing you and guiding you over to a couch in the corner of the lab. The two men eyed you with a seriousness that felt strange in comparison to your usual lighthearted interactions. But it was oddly comforting now, as you let yourself sink into the plush sofa
“Rest for a while, you don’t have any more classes today, right?” It was less of a question and more of a reminder, as he retrieved a blanket to drape over you. You really had no say in the matter, and the couch was so comfortable….
You felt relieved, cared for, and so so very sleepy...
So you fell asleep.
Once you were certifiably slumbering, your two impromptu caregivers let out shuddering breaths they hadn't realized they were holding, exchanging knowing glances.
Little did you know, they had been struggling just as much as you, if not more.
"....Let's get back to work." Viktor mumbled, forcing his eyes away from your relaxed form on the couch. He gripped his cane tightly as he turned away, retrieving his notes. Upon noticing Jayce hadn't moved yet, he huffed at having to repeat himself.
"Jayce."
"Right! sorry..." Jayce nodded, slowly backtracking to the main worktable. Couldn't help the deja vu that hit him as he remembered your topless form leaning against it, illuminated under the overhead light. He groaned and shook his head.
"Heaven knows we need the distraction."

I was supposed to do this weeks ago so i apologise for the delay but i finally got a chance to write the post about Medix and how his autism is portrayed in Rescue bots academy, I apologise If this post doesn't make much sense or if the grammer is poor since I'm very tired but I wanted to rant about this adorable lil medic so much that sleep came second lol
In season 1 episode 30 when wedge rejects wess's offer to help him and makes him sad Medix literally pulls out a datapad with different emotions and presumably descriptions of said emotions, I loved this moment! Not only did it subvert the trope of the autistic coded character saying something insensitive for "humour" but it also showed something I've never seen in a show before, an autistic character using something to help them in a situation they don't know how to deal with, most shows I've seen have either had the character say something insensitive, say something rude or just not care when someone around them is upset
Obviously this isn't accurate to autistic people at all, we might not realise at first that someone is upset around us due to not understanding social cues but when we do realise we want so badly to help and make the person feel better but we just don't know how particularly if we don't know that person, So to see Medix, a character who's been shown to not understand emotions or social cues, use something to help him work around this instead of the show depicting him as rude, unfeeling or faulty made me feel incredibly happy and represented seeing as I'm also an autistic person who uses a variety of items to help me function in this world ( I also really wish that I had an ipad that told me how someone was feeling lol)
As well as this, the show also does a brilliant job of showing how the despite the other students not understanding Medix they are willing to learn and apologise when they realise they've upset him as seen in season 1 episode 35 Life of the party when they refer to him as a "stick in the mud" and in the season 1 episode "Suprise, Medix!" Where they assume his dislike of surprises can be changed by throwing him a suprise however by the end of the episode the other recruits realise their mistake and apologise, compared to other shows where the other characters borderline hate the autistic character just for existing this is a breathe of fresh air and wonderful to see.
As well as everything I mentioned previously I also want to gush about Medix and his love of animals, this aspect of his character is especially relatable for me and I'm sure many other autistics as well, This being that Medix understands and bonds with animals much easier then he does other bots or people, I love seeing an autistic character be depicted as loving and caring towards animals because that's often how it is in real life obviously i don't speak for all autistic people but for me personally I've always been able to connect with and understand animals better then people so I adore this part of Medix's character plus every interaction he has with animals is adorable to watch
In other words I love and relate a lot to Medix and I think he's one of the best autistic characters that I've ever had the joy of watching and he truly deserves more appreciation and love in this fandom along with Chase who is the next character I'll be doing a post on and it'll probably be much longer then this post because as much as I love Rescue bots academy it doesn't hold a candle to Rescue bots which I absolutely adore more then any Transformers media with the exception of MTMTE

I’ll just… attach a Shin Godzilla’s tail, Jaune…
JAUNE-ZILLA
"How is he?"
Ren shook his head at Ruby. For the past few weeks, ever since a mysterious stranger snuck upon and attached a strange appendage to Jaune, the paladin leader of Team JNPR had become noticeably more and more ill as of late. The doctors in the infirmary had difficulty determining what was happening to him, originally citing it as some type of unknown infection.
Since then, Jaune had been quarantined within his own room in the medical wing of Beacon Academy. What started as a fever and chills quickly developed into vomiting blood and developing painful lesions across his skin. Not only this, but his body had begun to change as well, developing a form of gigantism matching his adult teeth falling out and being replaced by larger, sharper teeth. What little words he could speak had fallen into mumbles and groans.
The lesions in his skin, which had gone from pale to gray, began to scab over, as if he were suddenly growing scales over his body. This brought confusion as experts all over Remnant were brought in to study this new illness. When one student was asked to look his mind, using his semblance, the student remarked that the only response he could find that remained of Jaune Arc was one word. "Pain."
"Is... Is he going to die?" Ruby asked.
"They're not sure." Pyrrha answered, putting on a brave face for her team. Nora leaned into Ren, not bearing to look at their sister team as their new leader explained. "They say his vital signs are maintaining stability, but..." She swallowed. "They're also saying they don't see any way for Jaune to recover from this."
"He looks pretty bad." Yang commented. "Do you..." She clenched her teeth, hesitating to speak her thoughts.
"Go on." Pyrrha urged.
"Do you... know if anyone is talking about... 'helping' him?" The way Yang put emphasis on the word did little to ease tension. "Y'know?" Concerned her point didn't come across enough, she made a motion similar to putting one's head to pillows.
"I..." Pyrrha sighed. "I wish I could say no." She looked to the doors where their leader had been taken almost a month before. "The doctors are saying that what Jaune has isn't contagious, but... They're also saying that Jaune is in so much pain, anything else would be considered cruel."
"What if-" Sirens blared in the infirmary.
"CODE VIOLET." A voice on the PA system called. "VIOLENT PATIENT IN QUARANTINE."
"JAUNE!" Pyrrha turned to the doors, only to be stopped by Professor Goodwitch. "Professor! Let me!"
"Stay back, students!" The deputy headmistress barked. "Mr. Arc is being subdued and your presence will not-"
"CODE YELLOW." The PA called. "PATIENT HAS ESCAPED QUARANTINE."
"GET DOWN!" A voice called, causing Professor Goodwitch to use her semblance to push the students out of the way. Unfortunately, she was too slow to move herself and was shoved into the wall by a running mass of gray that barreled through the doors. She tried to hold him, but he was too far away and too heavy for her to grasp.
"Jaune!" Pyrrha called, giving chase with Team JNPR. Ruby looked to Professor Goodwitch, who was being helped by the infirmary staff, then looked to her team who nodded. Jaune was in pain, and they were going to help their friend.

Hello. My name is Ray Clayton, and my ten year old niece convinced me to try blogging for the benefit of trainers out there.
My experience encompasses pokemon care, battle tactics, training regimens and trainer coaching. Ran the Kanto League back in the day, took part in a few others. Decided the whole champion schtick ain’t for me, but the League life is.
I’ve worked with gym leaders, aspiring trainers, professors and even Elite Four members.
I am NOT qualified to offer input on medical matters beyond the dos and don’ts of training safely. I am not qualified to diagnose or assess injuries on any form of remote platform. See a veterinarian or other qualified professional for that.
My niece says yall can send me questions directly on here. I’ll answer all of ‘em I can.
I’m Mara, one of the ranch hands. Me ‘n my sister Maya help keep things runnin’. Takes a lotta grit and even more muscle to handle this kinda work! My partner is Alexander, a Nidoking. He’s the twin brother of my sister’s partner.
My name is Maya. I’m just about the one elegant thing about this dusty old backwater! Me and my Nidoqueen, Rose, do what we can to class up the place, but there’s only so much that can be done…
Already this blog has been the subject of a bit of toxicity. All I’m gonna say to you Negative Nancys is that I ain’t gonna give ya the time of day, and be sure to read and comprehend somethin’ before you mouth off about it. Odds are you’re criticizing an answer to a question you only imagined was being asked, when the answer was to the question that was actually asked.
Since folks want my Pokemon written here, here ya go:
Pyrite - Rhyperior, first partner. Protective.
Piezo - Magnezone, First wild-caught partner, retired from battling to pursue crisis response for fulfillment reasons.
Bruce - Emboar, adopted from being a pet. Loves battle for sport, hates violence otherwise.
Old Spooky - Dusclops, followed me home from Hoenn, older’n my grandpa, retired from battling
Wright - Yanmega, retired from battling due to injury
Gala - A shiny Hydrapple, was in a crate of apples and adopted. Currently undergoing battle training.
Nimbus - Dratini adopted in Paldea. Wants to learn Thunder.
Beethoven - Poliwag from a Kitakami river, gets along with everyone.
Boris - Galarian Slowking. Helped get me on my feet shortly after catchin’.
Aria - A Lapras wounded in Blueberry Academy’s Terarium, adopted at Director’s reccomendation. Really likes roasted Aspear berries.
Girafarig - Hatched from an egg Pyrite picked up somewhere in Paldea and guarded fiercely. Curious and energetic, name pending.
“Loyal” Three Trio - Undecided how to handle them. Caught them just to get them outta the locals’ hair. All three got attitude problems.
The ranch is also home to several Rhyhorn herds, a herd of Galarian Ponyta up north, and a gaggle of other wild Pokemon I ain’t gotten around to getting outta here yet.
//ooc time. So, this is a roleplay blog, in case you hadn’t guessed, regarding the goings-on on a fictional Rhyhorn ranch in the mountains between Galar and the Crown Tundra. A cold, dusty place, but it’s his, and that’s enough to be happy with it. Ray coaches Pokemon Trainers, particularly from the Galar League’s gyms, but anyone who comes recommended by an officially recognized League Association is welcomed. Maya and Mara are the twin ranch hands that help keep things running. As stated above, their text will be color coded. The short version of the point of setting things up this way is to be able to offer, in character, my own pointlessly varied pool of knowledge about things ranging from muscular biology to chemistry to best workout and training practices to animal behavior and, of course, around two decades now of playing Pokemon competitively. (in a casual fashion, anyway, my interest has always been exploring outside the meta to see what works that people aren’t doing yet.) In general, if it’s Ray speaking, it’s in the interest of helping anyone who wants it. Be that with worldbuilding, worldly wisdom, or fleshing out hypothetical Pokemon behaviors/medical practices. In short, I try to help fill any gaps to enrich the roleplay experience of others. If that isn’t welcome, politely decline either in or out of character. Both me and Ray will respect it and back away. I’m not looking to impose, after all. People who’ve followed the blog for a while may have seen some longer term RP collabs with others. Feel free to send DMs if your character needs a battle coach for some reason, even just as a passing thing. What I don’t have a taste for is stressful, needless drama. As in, I’d really rather not be drawn into petty or high-minded arguments or embroiled in some scandal by association or something.

do you think hinamori can forgive aizen? he manipulated and used her from the beginning. i dont see why she has to forgive.
Disclaimer: none of this is meant to be apologia, nor am I trying to speak for others. I work in medical, adjacent to law enforcement/legal, and have personally experienced intimate violence. Just trying to let you guys know where I’m coming from. Thank you <3
Also, this is technically part 2 to anon’s question. I feel like I did a better job at elaborating on Hinamori’s character here.
You know, this comes up a lot in both fandom and real-life—this talk of forgiveness and redemption, getting “over” it—and it’s not something that necessarily interests me because of how it’s typically presented. I think it’s pretty reflective of the space and language we lack to explore conversations outside this model of punitive justice and its by-products.
I like to think that for someone like Hinamori who has a solid moral code and tends to shoulder responsibility for a lot of things—her people, her position, her friends, even the work she does for the academy—she’d subscribe to models like transformative justice or restorative justice.
I think she believes that Soul Society can one day be a better place but also acknowledge that the expression of it is imperfect and not a one-size-fits-all solution. As someone who actually puts in the work, a path forward can manifest in two ways: one for Lieutenant Hinamori and the other for Hinamori Momo.
Hinamori plays an active role in the institution. She’s on the inside of this whole thing. In the aforementioned post I said that Hinamori can choose to bury her head in the sand, rage and follow in Aizen’s footsteps, grow bitter and alienate parts of herself, or hold onto this moral vision of hers and learn to work in and outside the Seireitei for a better Soul Society. We’ve seen her reclaim her lieutenancy on her terms, so I don’t think she’ll have much trouble there. And we know she has no problem challenging authority. I think she can learn to make the system work for her and her cause. I imagine that on the outside she would start some community outreach program to improve the lives of the Rukongai denizens.
Internally though, it’s complicated. I’m not going to get into it here but I think Hinamori and Aizen have a lot more in common than either would admit and I think a big part of their relationship was almost like a response to the roles they both had to play within the Seireitei, roles they didn’t necessarily agree with.
While writing this I kept thinking: who would Hinamori be if she had not joined the gotei (and if Soul Society had other avenues for souls like hers)? I think she would still retain her moral compass and ambition, but what would that look like on the outside? Maybe in direct opposition to the Seireitei, participating in or even leading an upheaval? And that’s a hard pill to swallow, that if circumstances were just a little different, she could find herself on the other side. (Not in the same way though, for obvious reasons.)
I think Hinamori would agree with the following: that violence has history, and crime—instead of a law broken—can be seen as a relationship that has been damaged. A relationship between people, between communities, between systems, a relationship of trust. (I mean, isn’t that what the Soul Society arc was about? Isn’t that what Aizen preyed on?)
I think Hinamori knows that the cause of Aizen and co’s defection was rooted in the history of the underbelly of the system they uphold. I think this goes back to how they lack the language and space to acknowledge this reality and engage in meaningful and productive dialogue to the betterment of the institution, the perpetrators (because they are and have to be a part of this conversation), the victims and community.
So, do I think Hinamori could forgive Aizen? As lieutenant, I think she would have to come to terms with and understand the greater “why” of his defection to proceed responsibly. For models like restorative and transformative justice, the victim has to be the one to initiate the conversation and it has to be mutually agreed upon. Interestingly, she was not given that choice when the Wandenreich invaded. It may sound defeatist, but I think this is something that must be continuously processed: for as long as she works for the gotei, Aizen becomes more a concept than a person. Every once in a while, when a new enemy rises or when she hears the whisper of a wandering ghost, she’ll remember his words.
For Hinamori Momo, someone who feels deeply and values greatly, I don’t think it’s as simple as to forgive or not forgive (maybe it’s something beyond that). Aizen had a great impact on her and I’m sure some of the knowledge she gained she still believes in and incorporates into her work. I don’t want to take that away from her, nor do I think that means she’s still holding out hope to one day pick up where they left off. It’s not denying his violence or solely championing the good times, it’s about recognizing that in some ways she valued his mentorship and guidance. That he took up a major space in her life that cannot be taken up by another nor can she wave it away like it never happened. It’s a transformative process, taking something and crafting it into your image, and sometimes that’s the hardest path to take.
But like I said, I don’t think their society has the tools to facilitate this type of conversation without alienating another (like, I don’t think the gotei questions her being there, but maybe every once in a while, when she messes up on something they’ll attribute it to her trauma, which can be pretty damaging. It’s a cycle—she’s off her game for whatever reason —> they’ll think it’s because of Aizen —> that makes her even more anxious and resentful because is it? How is she to know if no one wants to openly talk —> so on and so forth). I said I see Hinamori as someone who is always asking herself “am I feeling this right?” and this is definitely one of those instances.
-----------
I don’t think this answers your question, anon, but I hope you see where I’m coming from! Thank you so much for the ask. I had a lot of fun thinking it through<33

Boulder taps the tips of their digits together. "I have a question."
"What do you need?" Blades asks. He's putting up a garland around the perimeter of the basement, something he's been working on for days now. There are tiny little hand made models of their alt modes, trees, rocks, and other oddities that Boulder can't identify, made out of yarn big enough to hand knit with.
They're cute, and quite nice. Really bring a homey air to the place. "I need a bit of code altered."
Blades' helm whips around so fast he nearly falls over. He searches Boulder's face, but apparently doesn't find what he's looking for, because his face sets in a panicked frown and his rotors start flicking erratically. "You can't be serious."
"I'm serious," Boulder says, clasping their hands behind their back. "You're our medic, so I assumed-"
"Boulder, I am a field medic at most," Blades stresses, and some of his loose garland starts to flutter from the breeze created by his rotors. "I have no credentials. Hell, the only reason I know as much as I do is because Heatwave gets hurt so often it's all trial and error! They would never let me into the Academy, you know, they'd probably ban me from ever practicing-"
"Blades," Boulder says gently, but Blades' talking only gets more frantic.
"But code? Boulder, I can barely understand my own code, you really want me poking around in your helm? What if I mess something up? I could completely fuck up your coding, and I couldn't live with myself if I did that, living with unfulfilled protocols is horrible I can't imagine living with something broken-"
"BLADES!" Boulder shouts, and the helicopter shuts up, but his rotors are still flapping.
"Sorry," he murmurs. "I just don't think it's a good idea."
"It's something I can do myself," Boulder starts carefully, holding their hands out placatingly. "I just need a spotter."
The flapping dies down a little. "A spotter?"
"Yes, a spotter." Boulder clasps their hands again, this time against their chest. "Just in case."
"Just in case," Blades parrots, hugging his arms around himself. "What exactly do you need done?"
Boulder chews on their lip. "I just..." they trail off, trying to figure out how to phrase this. The pressure of the air has been changing all day, the sky getting darker, little beads of condensation appearing on their frame- the telltale signs of an oncoming storm. Someone like Blades would be able to better detect the changes in the atmosphere with his sensitive rotors, but Boulder doesn't have anything like that. And well... "I want to quiet a fear response."
Blades' face changes immediately. "Oh, Boulder," he says. "You can't just shove that down, you have to-"
"That's not what I meant," Boulder gently interrupts. "It's a fear response that's useless to me now. And it's going to storm."
"Oh." Blades' field reaches out in understanding, and Boulder brushes it with reassurance from their own. "You're scared of thunder."
"Not thunder. I want to experience it."
"The noise."
"Yeah."
Blades sighs. "Alright. I'll spot."
They find themselves on the floor, sitting with their legs crossed, across from each other. Their wrist ports are open and Blades has unspooled the cable from next to his, handing it to Boulder to let them plug in.
They do without much fanfare, initiating handshake protocols, and then Boulder guides Blades to the corner of their processor where all their instincts from their past as a miner lay dormant.
Well. Dormant-ish.
Where is it? Blades' voice is nice, inside of Boulder's processor. Warm and buttery smooth, but still somehow with a nervous lilt. It's kind of cool, the way it bounces around.
Here. Boulder pulls up the protocol and with it a memory- a huge bang that rattles the cavern and sends dust and pebbles showering down over Boulder and their coworkers. They dive for their positions, curling into balls, preparing for the worst. The fear is bone deep. Blades' very presence shivers with it. I want to be outside.
I know.
Blades' presence seems to hold them steady as Boulder dips their hands into the code. It shifts like water beneath their digits, slippery as they grasp for the strands that connect to their emotional core. They pinch and tie the line with a few more lines- simple things they'd been practicing doing, just extra stimuli needed to activate the protocol itself, like falling rubble, and suppressing it when rain registered as sensory input.
Boulder sighs as they finish up, letting it slip back out of their hands. Blades' relief is palpable, and it washes comfortingly over Boulder, then nestles in their spark even as they disconnect from each other.
"That wasn't so bad," Blades hums, mostly a reassurance to himself.
"Not at all," Boulder agrees.

“Dr. Franck Mauvais-Jarvis added, "The combination of all genetic and hormonal causes of sex differences aforementioned culminates in two different biological systems in men and women that translate into differences in disease predisposition, manitestation, and response to treatment."(36)
What this means is that men and women are susceptible to disease in different ways. Women are more prone to autoimmune diseases while men are more susceptible to infectious diseases.(37) Men are more likely to suffer heart disease and are three times more likely to be diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder.(38) Sex differences exist in rates of heart disease, asthma, diabetes, Alzheimer's disease, pneumonia, and autism, to name only a few.(39)
Men and women also exhibit symptoms of disease in unique ways. Whereas men often experience chest pain during a heart attack, women experience pain between their shoulder blades, nausea, vomiting, and shortness of breath.(40) Because women often experience different symptoms when suffering a heart attack, they are more than twice as likely as men to be sent home from the emergency room without being diagnosed and, as a result, are more likely to die after being released.(41)
Males and females also respond to drugs differently, both in terms of efficacy and side effects.(42) Aspirin, for example, is more beneficial to women than men in preventing stroke, but more beneficial to men for preventing heart attacks.(43) In the words of Dr. Maria Ferretti, "When properly documented and studied, sex and gender differences are the gateway to precision medicine.”(44)
Often, the solution to a patient's ailment depends upon a doctor's understanding of sex-specific medicine.(45) Dr. Marek Glezerman, author of the book Gender Medicine, recalled an instance where another doctor reached out to him for assistance regarding a female patient who suffered repeated epileptic attacks. Her specialists made repetitive changes to her medication to alleviate her ailment, but without success. Dr. Glezerman pointed out to the doctor that the woman's seizures worsened in both frequency and intensity during the second phase of her menstrual cycle, when women experience a surge of progesterone. Progesterone is a natural inhibitor of antiepileptic medication, and therefore the solution was not to change her medication, but to increase the dosage during that window of her cycle. Her doctor implemented this recommendation, and the problem was solved.(46)
These medical considerations are even more important for individuals who identify as trans. If a woman identifies as male, her medical providers still have an ethical obligation to account for her biological sex as a woman when treating her. No amount of self-identification can override the reality of her genetic code. At times, this can make the difference between life and death. Take, for instance, the tragedy that was reported by The New England Journal of Medicine when a woman who identified as a man arrived at an emergency room, complaining of abdominal pains.(47) The individual's medical chart listed the patient's gender as male, and so doctors treated the individual accordingly. Unfortunately, the cause of the patient's discomfort was that she was in labor. Because she was not appropriately triaged and evaluated for pregnancy related problems, the child passed away.”

Cons are good a.u.
How much better would the decepticons handle neurodivergence?
Hmm well, I'm sure they would have something but they're not really that far away from Cybertron.
Decepticons were originally from Cybertron and followed their rules until they were outcasted. Some of the best medics and mechanics were sided with Decepticons, although with lack of proper equipment and medicine, there isn't much to work with outside of major cities outside Cybertron they control.
Despite things not being registered in the medical code, the Decepticon medics handle such things as any real issue one would have.
For example Shockwave/Longarm- he has a slight personality split thing from creation. He was originally just a normal civil mech just living his life as more than one person. When the war was brewing he joined the Decepticons and with his ability to be one person with many faces he acts as a spy for them.
Blitzwing is a whole new thing- he was programmed with some sort of AuDHD (autism+adhd). He was originally a seeker working in the Decepticon file department along with Shockwave and got the appropriate treatment but the need to move and be in action was eating him inside out, so Megatron re-assigned him to be a seeker scout. Then the war got rougher and Decepticons were forced to abandon any honor they had left and turn to more heinous means.
The projects to improve their frames started and along with that several candidactes volunteered or were picked. Blitzwing originally didn't want to do it but got persuaded by Megatron. The success rates were low but Blitzwing was a success... at a cost.
Something went wrong with his programming when adjusting to another altmode and now he had a permanent personality disorder. He was the first and the last to go under such procedure and be alive.
Blitzwing may be scared of Megatron after this but Megatron still treats him with respect. He thinks of Blitzwing as his son and will protect him if need be.
I don't really know where i was going with this, i'm a bit rusty but to summarize: The 'cons are aware of the existance of such issues and are trying their best to help folks with them. They have treatment and try to share it with whoever they can without getting them killed for having associations with Decepticons. Those that have neurodivergent and other issues get assigned to appropriate jobs to do well in.
Cybertron's council is corrupt and they only care about profit so people are forced to live in this pretend-utopia dystopia to survive and deal with whatever shit hits them. If they have those undiagnosed issues the society only treats them as useless troublemakers and they are most likely quick to lose jobs.
Bumblebee, being forged in the corrupt era of Cybertron, had several issues with his programming and ended up being an underdeveloped frame that got classified as minibot. He struggled with academy and somehow landed a job at a club, the owner was secretly a decepticon-favoring folk and got him in touch with specialists to patch whatever issues he had, even sponsored it when he didn't have money for the procedures. He had a little easier life.
On earth he got diagnosed with ADHD and symptoms of depression- Ratchet never says where he gets the treatment pills for him but they work so he never bothers to ask. Prowl has autism so he's also on the treatment list, Optimus too (PTSD stuff). (He pays Swindle to deliver him stuff a normal supply delivery wouldn't give him. It's the only reason he's able to maintain them all working. A less ethical practice of his is copying one's files to another hard drive in case their system crashes and deletes them, he keeps quiet about it.)
I think that's about it? Lemme know if i missed something.

Future Ghost Chapter 8
McCoy sighed and pinched the bridge of his nose. McCoy's gut told him Danny was a good kid at heart despite the lies. The boy clearly had his reasons for wanting to hide what he was. However, regulations demanded full disclosure of medical status. McCoy had to get to the bottom of this. Not even getting into the fact the ensign was a minor and had managed to skip the schooling the academy provided. Command was not going to like that.
He tapped his com device on the wall. "McCoy to Kirk. Jim, can you and Spock meet me in my office? I need your help with something?” What he wanted to tell the two was best left off of official records or written records.
A moment later, Kirk responded. "On my way, Bones. Is everything okay?"
McCoy sighed. "Just get down here, and I'll explain."
While waiting, McCoy reviewed Danny's scans again, fascinated and puzzled by the unknown DNA signature. He wished he could sit Danny down and have an honest talk with him and make the kid feel safe enough to open up. But Danny was clearly too scared for that right now. Hopefully, Kirk could get through to him. Another idea popped into Mccoy’s mind. Scotty could talk to the kid while he explained the situation to Jim and Spock. Maybe make the kid feel like he had someone in his corner instead of the lecture interrogation that would follow.
Picking up the flip phone-style comm unit, he dialed in the code for Mr. Scott. "Scotty, I need you to meet me in my office as soon as possible. It's about Ensign Fenton."
“That bad, Len?” Scotty’s accented voice replied.
“Just get up here,” Mccoy Answered.
The sound of footsteps brought McCoy back to the present, and he glanced up to see Kirk, Spock, and Scotty entering his office. Their expressions were a mix of concern and curiosity, and they were clearly eager to learn what warranted this impromptu meeting.
"Thank you for coming so quickly," McCoy began, gesturing for them to take a seat. "We have a bit of a situation with Ensign Fenton. For one, he's only fifteen, and he fancies himself a skilled hacker…. he skipped the academy altogether. And he’s hacked and forged his medical records. He claims he’s a hybrid, but from what little he told me, I’m afraid we might be dealing with an abusive augmentation experimentation case here. Whatever his parents did to give him extra abilities."
Spock had a perfect poker face, not letting any emotions slip; he only allowed a raised eyebrow to indicate his interest. “Fascinating. It is illogical to conceal one's true nature, and the amount of deceit is alarming, while it is an impressive task he implemented."
“Abilities in what way? Like Evens, ESP, or enhanced strength and intelligence like augments?” Kirk asked.
“Now, I haven’t done a full examination or test of his abilities, just what he’s told me. I don’t know how much he can do with his mind or how many ESP capabilities he has, but from the sounds of it, whatever was done, whatever his parents were experimented with, gave empathetic abilities and more physical ones, like invisibility.”
Kirk's eyes lit up with a realization. “The away missions!” Captain Kirk furrowed his brow; he was concerned about the ensign's lies but more so for his well-being, having observed the young man performing admirably during away missions. "I did think he seemed a bit young," Kirk admitted.
“While the ensign could be tied with the success rate of the away missions he has been on, is there only way to measure this?” Spock asked.
Mccoy nodded. “He does give off a faint energy signal of some sort. My instruments have trouble picking it up. It could match the signature we have been finding. It’s possible it gets stronger when he’s using his abilities. It…...just needs further study.”
Spock and Kirk looked thoughtful. Mccoy knew that Kirk had a soft spot for kids, especially those from rough backgrounds. He knew he’d be willing to give the ensign a chance, especially if he didn’t mean any harm to the crew. Mccoy was well aware that it broke Jim’s heart not being able to help Charlie Evens; they just were not equipped to help an unstable teen with powers. Hell, Jim had been willing to speak of for the Evens kid when those energy beings came to collect him. Jim had a big capacity for compassion. After all the things that the kid did, Jim was willing to try, arguing that they could teach him, saying that he just needed someone to teach him.
Mccoy mused that, it was a good sign that this ensign, while similar, was very different from that case. At least this kid hadn’t lashed out at anyone with his abilities. And if his hunch was correct, the kid had been using them to help on away missions. Granted, they would have to discuss what would be done. Should they allow him to stay aboard or make him actually go through the academy? Having him underage and possibly on the run from something added a whole other can of worms. Mccoy wanted to give him a chance, but he’d be for the option that would be in the best interest for the kids wellbeing as well as keeping everyone safe.
Scotty looked surprised but interrupted with a hint of defensiveness in his tone. "Ensign Fenton's done well in my department, Doc. Never had any problems with the lad."
"I know," McCoy replied, nodding to acknowledge Scotty's point. "But this goes beyond his work performance. He's a hybrid or augment of some sort, and he's terrified of revealing the truth about his nature and what happened to him."
As McCoy spoke, he could see the concern etched on Kirk's face.
"First, we need to get him to open up," McCoy continued. "I've already tried, but I think maybe Scotty would have better luck, given their working relationship. I think that would be best before we call him in here to explain himself.”
Scotty nodded, determination set in his features. "Aye, I'll give it a go, Doctor. Maybe I can help put his fears to rest."
"Thank you, Scotty." McCoy turned to address the others. "While he's doing that, I'd like you two to help me look into Ensign Fenton's background. His DNA is an exact match for a human, but there's also something else – something I've never seen before. There are no matches in the Starfleet database, so we're dealing with completely uncharted territory here. I have no idea what substance was being experimented on, and from what he told me, his parents found some entity from another dimension, which is very concerning. "
Spock raised an eyebrow, intrigued by the challenge. "Fascinating. We shall assist you in your investigation, Doctor."
"Alright then," McCoy said, clapping his hands together. "Let's get to work."
Danny sat on the biobed, staring at his lap, his fingers fidgeted nervously at his side, and he wished he could simply fade away. But before he could act on the impulse, Scotty approached him with a warm smile and a friendly clap on the back.
"Come now, lad," Scotty said, his tone light and teasing. "Why are you giving our good doctor such a hard time?"
Danny swallowed hard, trying to steady his racing thoughts. He hesitated for a moment before responding, his voice barely above a whisper. "I just... I didn't think anyone would believe me……and……I’ve never had to explain it before."
"Ya shouldn't assume what we will or won't believe Danny," Scotty reassured him gently.
“I know……but it’s hard to talk about…..I always feel like a freak.” Danny replied in a sad tone.
Scotty reached out and placed a hand on Danny's shoulder. “Hey lad, none of that ya hear.” Scotty noticed how the young teen relaxed under his touch. Scotty made eye contact with Danny, giving him a reassuring look. “You’ll always have a place in my department…...but if you want to stay, you have to give the full story to the captain. Giving him the full story will help him make a decision or even decide to give ya an opportunity; otherwise, he might only have a few choices to make for ya.”
“I’ll try…...it’s just hard,” Danny mumbled.
“Now, don’t tell me too much, cause you’ll have to repeat it, but Mccoy told me you could turn invisible, can ya show me?” Scotty asked, he was in truth very curious what the lad could do. And maybe showing the wee lad that he was okay with his abilities would put him at ease.
Danny gave Scotty a shy look but nodded. With that, he disappeared from the visible spectrum.
Danny's disembodied voice echoed through the room. "You don’t think this is weird?”
“What no! This is amazing!” Scotty reaches out and prods at the empty air, his brow furrowed in concentration, as he could feel the solid form of the ensign but not see him. *Really gotta work on the kid’s confidence; something that is weird isn’t bad. * Scotty thought to himself. “Can you do anything else lad?”
Danny, feeling encouraged by Scotty’s reaction and the feeling of his positive emotions flowing off of him, felt comfortable enough to share more. He could tell his boss didn’t think he was a freak. Danny's disembodied voice held a hint of pride. "Watch this." With a shimmer, he reappeared on the bed, concentrating, and his body went transparent; he showed off his ability to go intangible. "I can do all sorts of stuff – phase through walls, even manipulate ice, a bunch of stuff……honestly, if you think of a ghost…...or anything a ghost can do……I can do……” Danny trailed off, testing the waters, without saying HE was half ghost.
Scotty let out a whistle. “That’s mighty impressive, lad!” Scotty gave Danny a considering look. “Have you been using them on away missions?”
Danny nodded eagerly. “Yeah! I’ve been trying my best to help where I can….I have a good handle on them. When I first got them…..it was a mess. I’d accidentally phase out my own clothes or fall through floors.”
Scotty raised an eyebrow at this. “I’m glad ya, got a handle on it, can’t have you falling through the ship out into space. Ya know that will be a good thing to mention to the captain, every little bit of information will help him decided what to do with ya.”
Danny decided not to mention that he’d probably be okay out in space right now. “Do with me? What’s gonna happen?” Danny felt his anxiety increase.
“Nothing bad lad. I Imagine it’s more of deciding whether to ship you back to Earth or not. Regardless if you stay or not, you’ll be ok, lad, Nobody gonna harm ya. However, ya might get some extra chores as punishment for lying. Don’t worry about it to much, I’ll be right here with ya.” Scotty replied.
Before continuing their conversation, Mccoy, Kirk, and Spock exited the CMO’s office and walked over to the medical room where Danny was located.
"Alright, Ensign Fenton," Dr. McCoy said, “Are you ready?” He asked.
Danny nodded his head. He still felt nervous, but he was trying to be brave. It did help that Scotty was standing by his bedside, giving him encouraging glances.
Captain Kirk leaned forward, his eyes filled with compassion. "Danny, we can keep your medical information confidential, but you have to tell Dr. McCoy the truth. Otherwise, you will face disciplinary action, including time in the brig. Do you understand?"
Danny hesitated, his breath hitching in his chest. He glanced at the faces surrounding him—Scotty, who had been nothing but kind; Spock, who regarded him with cool curiosity; and Dr. McCoy, whose concern was palpable beneath his stern facade. Finally, with a heavy sigh, Danny relented.
"Alright," he muttered, casting his eyes downward. “I’ll answer whatever you want to know.”
“Good, good,” Kirk replied, relieved the teen wasn’t giving them a hard time. “I would like to know for the record if your name is Daniel Fenton?”
“Yes, I didn’t lie about that. That’s my real birth name.” Danny replied. He was partly relieved they were starting with the easy questions.
“Fascinating,” Spock spoke up. “Because when we tried to find a file on you, the only documents found were the ones you made. You don’t exist in the Federation database.” Spock ended his statement in a way that prompted an explanation.
Danny rubbed the back of his neck. “How far back did you look?” Danny felt nervous, so much for easy questions.
The senior officers pinned him with an intense stare at that question. Mccoy slowly asked, almost afraid of the answer. “Ensign……What year were you born?”
“Um…..February 12th……1989….” Danny replied having trouble keeping eye contact with the officers around him.
There was a thick silence that felt like it could be cut with a knife. Spock raised his eyebrow in interest. Captain Kirk dragged his hand down his face and gave a deep sigh in frustration. This complicated things if the ensign was to be believed.
Scotty stared incredulously at Danny but soon gave him a thoughtful look. This explanation explained some of the teen's actions and words.
"You're from the past," McCoy said slowly. Comprehension dawned in his eyes. "That's why you lied about your age. You're not just underage - you're centuries displaced!"
“How…. how did this happen, Ensign,” Kirk asked, getting straight to the point.
Danny’s gaze flicked between the officers. "I got stuck here because of a stupid wish."
The disbelief on the faces of his commanding officers was evident, and Dr. McCoy pinched the bridge of his nose in frustration. "Son, you're going to have to explain that one a little better."
“I know, I know," Danny interjected quickly, his voice small. "It's just... hard to explain. And you said to start at the beginning…...ok…here it goes….” Danny's eyes darted between the four older men, weighing his options. With a defeated sigh, he finally relented. I'm... I'm a half-ghost. My parents are fringe scientists who study this material called ectoplasm….and they figured out a way to build this interdimensional portal. I accidentally got stuck inside when it turned on. The ectoplasm from the Ghost Zone merged with my DNA, making me a human-ghost hybrid. That's why my biology is... weird."
Scotty scratched his head, bemused. "Well, lad, I didn't think it would sound so... strange."
"Of course, it sounds strange!" Danny huffed; his cheeks flushed with indignation.
“While strange, it’s not out of the range of possibilities, and while impressive someone from the 20th century could create that level of technology, it’s not impossible.” Spock cut in. “This portal you mentioned, where their beings inside, did something send you through time?” Spock asked.
“Yeah……these ghosts from the zone, they’re like energy beings……they have their own culture, government, laws, and lives. It’s like a world, like the inverse of this one. It’s very different. From what I understand, ectoplasm combines with a soul and makes them into this energy being, kinda like a second life. Cause you get all these different instincts and impulses. And……I know not all of the beings in this dimension started out on this side of reality, like they give birth, and some formed in the zone, so I guess not all of them had a different live.” Danny tried his best to explain, but it was hard, how do you explain an entire culture and world in a few words.
“Fascinating,” Spock replied.
“I’m taking it one of these ‘ghosts’ or energy beings sent you forward?” Kirk asked his expression thoughtfully.
“Yea…...there’s this ghost that’s a genie, she likes to grant wishes, but she twists them, and she gets stronger after doing this. She’s a pain to fight……they like to fight….but also I had to cause….she was causing trouble in my town……granted wishes left and right, like someone would ask for a dog, but she’s make this giant rabbit monster dog that would try to eat them…..”
“Is this common…. a common ability?” Mccoy asked, his tone of concern.
“Um…..everyone has abilities. I’d say her ability wasn’t common, at least not that I’ve seen. The common ones that everyone gets…. are invisibility, flight and intangibility. Everything else varies, depending on all sorts of stuff.” Danny replied. He didn’t want to get into obsessions just yet. This was a lot to explain at one time.
“What did you wish for exactly, lad?” Scotty asked, generally curious.
“Um…. ok, understand I wanted to be an astronaut, and I didn’t know she was close by……I just….it was an off handed comment…. I just said I wish I could go to space…...I didn’t expect to get flung into the future.” Danny explained.
"Ensign Fenton," Spock inquired, a rare note of curiosity in his voice, "is invisibility the extent of your capabilities?"
Danny hesitated for a moment before admitting, "No, I can do lots of stuff."
Kirk held up one hand, stopping any further explanation. “I would also like a full report on all the abilities you possess and a demonstration, but we can get to that later. Danny, where are you from?”
“I’m from Amity Park, Illinois. I imagine you’re gonna look me up. Can you not tell me what you find? I’ve been avoiding looking at history stuff and what happened to my hometown. Or if I make it back or not…... I’ve been scared that I don’t.”
“You believe you’re not stranded here?” Spock asked.
“Um….well….there’s this one ghost….his name is Clockwork, his main ability has to do with time. He watches the timelines and corrects them when they go wrong. I figured he’d pluck me out and send me home. But he hasn’t, so maybe I’m supposed to be here. I hope he’ll get me home, or maybe I have to find my way to the zone and ask him that way. But he’s really hard to find if he doesn’t want to be found. I was hoping he’d send me home, cause talking to him can be annoying, he likes to say things in riddles.” Danny explained.
The senior officers were looking at him with looks of surprise and incredulous stares.
“We’re going to come back to that ensign. Clearly, you’ve lived an exciting life.” Kirk said. “But I promise we won’t tell you of any……spoilers…. but yes, it would provide a way to confirm your story.”
“Danny, it sounds like these beings had access to your town?” Scotty asked.
“Yeah, the portal my parents built was never shut down, so it provided an open doorway for them to get through….now not all of them are like this……most tend to stay in the zone…..but some would attack my town…..and since I was really the only one that could stand up to them…..I’d have to fight them.” Danny replied, thinking nothing of this.
“What about you’re parents?” Kirk asked.
“They didn’t know…... I was scared to tell them.” Tears pricked at the corners of Danny's eyes. "They believed that all ghosts are evil, as something to be hunted down and destroyed. I wasn’t sure they would accept me.” Danny admitted, his voice shaking. “They already hated my ghost form…...they’d shoot at me….and try to capture me and talk about dissecting me and tearing me apart molecule by molecule.”
The four older men around him looked at him in horror at this.
“Kid…..I hope you know, we’d never do that to you…..that Starfleet wouldn’t do that do you.” Mccoy asked with slow, measured words. He’d love to give the kid's parents a good talking to and set them straight for the neglect and abuse they put their kid through.
“The whole ghost thing, it's not something everyone gets. And I didn't want to end up some science experiment or, worse, kicked out of Starfleet." Danny replied, tone sad.
McCoy sighed, his expression softening further. "Son, do you really think we'd do that to you? Starfleet is about embracing diversity and finding strength in our differences. You should've trusted us."
"Guess I messed up, huh?" Danny's shoulders slumped.
"Let's not focus on that," McCoy replied. "Now, tell me more about this 'ghost form' of yours. What does that mean?"
Danny rubbed the back of his neck. "Uh, basically, I can switch between my human and ghost forms. Basically, I present more of one biologically when I do this change.”
“Was this change drastically different than your human form?” Kirk asked, wondering if the kid’s parents didn’t recognize him, not that it would excuse the hunting of a sentient being.
“I mean…...it’s not too different…look wise. I glow and have white hair and green eyes…... but I don’t look too different…... I think it was not something people would think is possible, so nobody made the connection.” Danny replied with a shrug.
“I think that’s enough for now……I’ll let you know of my decision later…...this is a lot to take in. In the meantime, Bones, keep Danny in medical for now until we get this sorted out.” Kirk focused his attention on Danny again. “Will you let Mccoy do an in-depth DNA and physical examination?”
"Yes, Captain," Danny agreed, his shoulders slumping slightly in resignation.
"Let's work on creating a baseline for your normal, shall we?" McCoy suggested, trying to put Danny at ease. "It might be slow going since you don't know all the details yourself, but it's important that we understand your unique physiology."
Danny nodded, swallowing hard. "Yes, sir."
"You're safe here. I promise we'll take good care of you," Mccoy told him, patting his arm.
The boy offered a tentative smile. "Thanks, I appreciate it."
McCoy nodded to Kirk, Spock, and Scotty as they left. He turned to his young patient and said firmly, "Now then, let's start getting a baseline..."
