so I was reading artem personal story chapter 2 and this line really stuck out to me because it saids that Artem was a university student eleven years prior to the main story, but artem is currently 27 as of now, so that would mean artem was 16 when he was a university student??

I mean it could be possibly since a lot of the characters have obtained doctorate degrees and went to university at a young age (looking at 27 year old vyn with his TWO doctorate degrees and luke going to university at 16) so this could very well be a possibly! but idk if this was ever confirmed or if the timeline is all messed up 😭😭

guys, i'm having a freak out session about turning 30 in just over 4 months... never thought i'd reach my 30's tbh, i was meant to stay stuck in my 20's forever, nooo. 😿

Argh... once again I thought I'd only missed a few days of updates and it's actually rather longer. As in a week; not sure how much of that I can even remember. I know I've done some odds and ends this week but can't recall on what days. Usual cleaning of upstairs bathroom, and some more tidying of my bedroom. Also probably laundry. Maybe. Kind of been brain fogged (thanks period hormones - they've been hitting harder for a while now).

Been very aware all week that this time last year the nephew and I were going through that final weekend from hell before my sister went into hospice care. I am still so unbelievably thankful for all the home care nurses plus the doctor who made a house call on a long weekend who helped us get through it all, and the EMTs who got her to the hospital when it hit that stage of things. Good people make awful times a little less awful.

May 20 - baked a loaf of potato chive bread. Made a vat of chili, which we had some of with rice.

May 21 - made a pot of chicken vegetable soup. Had with bread from yesterday.

May 22 - cooked some pork tenderloin medallions with apples and onions, served over rice with steamed mixed veg.

May 23 - made some meat sauce out of ground beef, onions, peppers, a can of tomato sauce, and additional seasonings. Did pasta with meat sauce and a salad for supper. Brother will be heading out of town starting this weekend so rather than freeze the leftover sauce I put it in the fridge to use up while he's away; it's enough for two servings.

May 24 - made a pan of saffron risotto with sliced mild Italian sausages for the protein.

May 25 - Brother went out of town so it's just me for a while. Fried some perogies and had them with meat sauce in late afternoon and then later in the evening had a big salad with chicken strips.

May 26 - also just me. Supper was pasta with meat sauce - that finished off the meat sauce.

May 27 - still just me. Big salad for supper since the romaine needs using up. Just walnuts in it for protein as for lunch I'd had a somewhat overstuffed fish burger to finish off the end of a box of fish sticks that wasn't quite enough for two people.

The Mendosa jury trial was a 6 co defendant gang murder case. I represented Lisandro Mendosa. The trial lasted from August 4, 2014 to January 28, 2015. It ended with a hung jury and a mistrial was declared. Trial is an all consuming experience. Personal relationships and outside group activity diminish.Your whole being is dedicated to the trial experience.Tony Serra, a well know San Fransisco attorney, represented one of the co defendants in the trial. Mr. Serra turned 80 during the trial. MAC lived with me at the time and Zoe was my sister.

02/27/2024, Incident: Kon stared at me while I trained, when I called him out he blushed profusely and stuttered, obviously he is ill or compromised. Solution: keep a closer eye on him

03/04/2024, Incident: Keeping a closer eye on Kon appears to have flustered him. I caught him staring at me 7 times, each he seemed embarrassed by. Potentially he believes I am an imposter. Solution: team building exercise, and movie night

03/06/2024, Incident: movie night proves that Kon must be having emotional or social issues. Team building went fine, but Kon seemed disturbed at sharing a blanket with me, he went very rigid when I leaned against him, I fear that the Kent's may be mistreating him. Solution: subtley question about home life.

03/08/2024, Incident: questioning about home life initially had Kon happy, then his demeanor became shy. He offered to show me his favorite restaurant near the Kent's and take me star gazing. He appeared very put out when I asked if Cassie and Bart would be coming. Solution: maybe Kon only expects me to realize the harmful habits of the Kent's.

03/14/2024, Incident: I was left in a critical condition after a mission, Kon refused to leave my side. That is normal as the rest of team refused to leave, but I swear he was holding my hand while I slept. Solution: Kon is more tactile that I thought?

03/16/2024, Incident: my memory of the mission and the events leading to my injury is better now. Kon is the one that caught me. Though I could swear that he was begging me not to leave him because he 'loves me'. Solution: request less morphine next injury.

03/21/2024, Incident: Kon said my injury gave him a lot to think of, he requested that we go on a "date" tonight. Solution: ask Kon if he got the phrase 'hang out' and 'date' mixed up

On Dec. 1, a woman immolated herself with a Palestinian flag outside the Israeli consulate in Atlanta.

Now, according to the Atlanta Fire Rescue Department, the woman — referred to in their report as “Jane Doe” — is alive and “in stable condition” at Grady Memorial Hospital, where she has been since the immolation.

After repeated requests for her name, the department stated to this reporter in an email that it “does not disclose the identities of victims”. Repeated inquiries to Grady, which is a public hospital, went unanswered. The hospital houses the Walter L. Ingram Burn Center.

“Jane Doe” is 27.

When asked if they had made any comment to tell the public that she was still alive this entire time, the official at Atlanta Fire Rescue Department said they “shared the last updated with local media via email on 12/21/23. The release stated: ‘The victim remains hospitalized in critical condition. The security guard, who attempted to assist the burn victim, has been released from the hospital.’” Several internet searches on that quote produce no results. This would also indicate that "Jane Doe" went from critical to stable condition without public notice. 

Aaron Bushnell immolated himself at the Israeli embassy in Washington, D.C. on Sunday, explaining “I will no longer be complicit in genocide” and shouting “Free Palestine!” repeatedly as he burned alive. So, his case — unlike many other self-immolations including Gregory Levey, Raymond Moules, Timothy T. Brown, Malachi Ritscher and others — has received some attention. Thus, “Jane Doe” being ignored fits with the usual pattern. Bushnell is the exception — probably because he livestreamed it. See “Ignoring Immolators Lulls the Society to Sleep.”

As Bushnell was burning himself alive, an officer pointed a gun at him, barking orders as if he constituted a threat. A security guard, Michael Harris, sustained injuries working to rescue “Jane Doe” — but there were similarities, where she was actually viewed as a potential threat.

At one point, the police report for “Jane Doe” refers to it as being a case of “arson”.

Much of the media coverage and general discussion of her self-immolation in December focused on if she had done damage. The Atlanta Police Chief said: “We believe this building remains safe, and we do not see any threat here.” The Israeli government released a statement: “It is tragic to see the hate and incitement toward Israel expressed in such a horrific way.”

Police records indicate that they obtained a search warrant and entered an apartment they believed to be associated with “Jane Doe” — initially using a drone:

The drone was able to relay information as to the layout and the belongings inside. After it was deemed "safe" entry was made with bomb technicians. While clearing the apartment no improvised explosive devices were located.

The police report also noted:

During the search a Quran was found in the bedroom along with a [sic] Arabic dictionary and a Hebrew dictionary. The bedroom bookshelf contained books related to fiction and fantasy. A "Drug use for grown ups" book was on the bookshelf as well. Two journals were seized from the bedroom. A thumbdrive was seized from the bedroom as well. A laptop computer was seized from the kitchen counter. A copy of the search warrant was left in the living room of the apartment. The front door [of] the apartment was secured before law enforcement left the premises.

When pressed for more information in compliance with an Open Records Request under Georgia law, Atlanta Fire Rescue Department claimed: “There is an ongoing and active investigation for the incident in question, which is why the only releasable information has been shared via the incident report. Investigative documentation is not available for release until the investigation is closed.”

a sort of denial —

We got rained on, a light and swift drizzle falling

while sitting in a field with a camp fire merrily crackling between us

The fire did not die

And we sat, in silence, for a while

Our clothes slightly damp though not uncomfortable so

Unaware of how quickly time passed

how quickly we changed from humid-wet to sitting-still dry.

This night, I want it pregnant with meaning,

drooping under the weight of tightly-kept secrets shared

brought out as sacrifices symbolizing our commitment to each other

But we sit instead, awkwardly silent,

intermittently muttering false intimate niceties.

If I insistence just a little bit more forcefully, there is, there might be something significant to squeeze from this impasse

I wish it wholeheartedly, must it not be?

Then this clumsy episode wouldn’t be so lacking

Then this bond between us wouldn’t be so frayed.

I feel it, you know
