Character:

Rabel is a hard-core conspiracy theorist deadset on proving his theory -- that extraterrestrials landed on Earth thousands of years ago to join the human race. And that he was one of them. Of course, everyone knows because that's all he talks about, whether or not they're willing to listen.

Rabel's strange birthmark denotes the beginnings of this obsesssion, where he believes its vague UFO shape is a sign. Although dissatisfied with popular culture's representation of aliens, he makes do and dons them in proud representation of his 'past'. After all, he is the real face of extraterrestrial life. He reckons there are others like him and his mission is to find them.

As to what he plans to do after finding those like him, Rabel has decided that he wants to start a new superior colony in space, likely to end in a disaster.

Researched a bit more around the preacher types -- led me to looking at the people who believe in the ‘end of the world’ and the kind of signs they hold out on the streets.

The old man is Harold Camping, an evangelist who ‘predicted’ Judgement Day multiple times and revised the dates constantly.

Looking at the kind of clothes they wear, it looks normal enough although occasionally dressed more traditionally in vests/suspenders

A connection I made between the bird and the word ‘vacuous’ was that it was both loud and empty headed. So I decided to look into some occupations that might fit both these descriptions.

Preaching can be both indoors and outdoors but I’ll be focusing on the outdoor aspect.

Open air preaching

-Act of evangelizing a religious faith in public places

- An ancient method of relaying religious or social messages and have been used by many cultures and religious traditions.

Preachers are often unafraid of voicing what they believe is right and their opinions. A technique such as this could also ‘“ruffle someone’s feathers”.

because the southern screamer is very social and lives in flocks, i looked up different environments someone like my character might thrive in, looking at all the geological locations the bird is found in.

Favelas
