MORT KUNSTLER
Male Magazine, May 1959, interior illustration
Morton Künstler (born August 28, 1927) is an American artist known for his illustrative paintings of historical events, especially of the American Civil War. He was a child prodigy, who, with encouragement from his parents, became a skilled artist by the time he was twelve. Today he is considered the "best-known and most respected historical artist in the country."
Künstler began his career in the 1950s as a freelance artist, illustrating paperback book covers and men's adventure magazines. In 1965 he was commissioned by National Geographic to create what became his first historic painting. He also created posters for movies such as The Poseidon Adventure and The Taking of Pelham One Two Three. And by the 1970s he was painting covers for Newsweek, Reader's Digest, and other magazines, with the bulk of his work during that period in advertising art.

Priscilla met Elvis when she was 14, and he was 23. They met at a party in 1959 while he was in Germany. Elvis enjoyed Priscilla’s company, he enjoyed talking to her. By may 1st 1967 they got married , but Elvis said “she was just a fan” . On feb 1st 1968 they had a daughter ‘Lisa Marie Presley’ after she gave birth Elvis didn’t want to touch her anymore. Elvis was with Anita wood when he met Priscilla. Elvis said they had no big romances in an interview, “the girl he left behind” , Elvis had to meet Priscilla’s family to see her again. She was ‘mature’ for her age. People say Priscilla was a home wrecker but she was 14 when they met. On may,1st 1967 Elvis and Priscilla got married in Las Vegas. February, 1st 1968 they had a daughter named ‘Lisa Marie Presley’ Priscilla never wanted to get pregnancy weight. Elvis had to wait until she was 21 to get married (he was 32) he never touched her till she was 21 ( because he didn’t wanna ruin his career) and after they got married. 1973 they got a divorce, but remained close friends.
Anita and Elvis has a fight about Priscilla . He called Priscilla just a fan of him while Priscilla was only 14.
💓 Elvis and Priscilla really did love each other. Despite the age gap, and the cheating + Elvis always being away. Priscilla and Elvis didn’t start dating until she was 14 while he was with antia wood, there relationship shouldn’t be used as an aesthetic or be romanized. Priscilla and Elvis didn’t divorce because they didn’t love each other .
Priscilla couldn’t focus in school after she met Elvis , she was “rebellious “ and said she wouldn’t go to school because she wanted to see Elvis. She didn’t get a boyfriend after Elvis left because she said Elvis was the love of her life.
Priscilla was struggling in school once she met Elvis, she didn’t pay attention , fell asleep in classes once she met Elvis. :(
Opinion: I personally think that Elvis and Priscilla truly loved each other , and Priscilla meant a lot to Elvis, if he didn’t love her he wouldn’t have married her or had a child with her.
(I don’t romanticize the relationship I just thought Priscilla and Elvis were cute despite the age gaps and problems)

March 1959 - Freddie Mercury Story!
India - Farrokh Bulsara formed the school band, 'The Hectics', the first band
👉 'Freddie Mercury was a prodigy': Rock star's Panchgani school bandmates remember 'Bucky'
Sep 05, 2016, Scroll.in, by Anvar Alikhan
Freddie Mercury is considered to have been one of the most flamboyant showmen in rock ’n’ roll history. Were there any early signs of that in his performances with the Hectics?
Victory Rana: Freddie was very shy, but once he started playing his piano, he became a completely different person. But I don’t remember him as being any kind of showman – not at that age, anyway.
Subash Shah: Yes, Freddie was very shy. But he was also “a born show-off”, and his entire personality would transform once he was performing. To give you one example: one evening, as teenagers, we were walking on a beach in Zanzibar. Music was playing and Freddie spontaneously started to do the twist, the popular dance move of the time. It was such a mesmerising performance that the next thing we knew was that a group of conservative local girls, wearing burqas, had formed a circle around Freddie and began to twist with him. That was the power of his showmanship, even back then.
Did he display any signs of future greatness back then? Any indications of the shape of things to come?
Victory Rana: To be quite frank, no. Yes, Freddie had a lot of talent, and he was very passionate about his piano playing. But who could say, based on that, that he’d grow up to be the megastar that he became?
Farang Irani: His parents were good solid middle-class Parsis with middle-class values. His father was an accountant in Zanzibar, and he wanted Freddie to become an accountant or a lawyer

The incomplete HAWAII (CB-3) being moved to a berth, likely on her way to the scrapyard. Photographed on either May 20 or June 20, 1959. Likely the latter since the Navy Heritage and History Center has a better track record with dates.
Note: her 12 inch/50 caliber Mark 8 gun turrets have already been removed. They were removed in preparation for Hawaii would have become an Aircraft Carrier Task Force Command Ship, under SCB-83 and her hull designation changed to (CBC-1). Unlike the proposed ballistic and guided missile conversions, this conversion was budgeted in 1952.

Painting by Wayne Scarpaci
"This was as parallel to this program was a project to convert the unfinished Oregon City class heavy cruiser NORTHAMPTON (CLC-1) (later CC-1, ex-CA-125) to a National Emergency Command Post Afloat (NECPA). The NECPA program command ship (NORTHAMPTON) was where the US President and his Staff would direct US Military Forces during a nuclear conflict."
Tumblr media
"Command and control of USN carrier forces during WWII was generally conducted from a standard vessel of the Task Force, with either a battleship or a carrier usually designated as flagship. But the presence of the force commander and his staff aboard was disruptive and resulted in overcrowded conditions, which impacted the combat effectiveness of the assigned ship. But with the superiority of the dedicated Amphibious Command Ship (AGC) concept for command and control of assault forces repeatedly demonstrated during WWII. Serious postwar consideration was given to the concept of a similar dedicated type of ship for Command and Control of Carrier Task Forces. In keeping with this concept in 1952 the USN developed the SCB-83 project to convert the HAWAII into a dedicated Carrier Task Force Command Cruiser (CBC-1). This design was strictly intended as a single mission ship featuring extensive flag facilities for command and control of carrier task forces, but no accommodations for amphibious or other types of operations.
Tumblr media
The ship would have been armed with six 5 inch/54 caliber guns in single mounts, shipped three forward and three aft, with eight 3 inch/70 caliber guns in four enclosed twin mounts amidships. It would have fitted an AN/SPS2 radar atop a forward tower and an AN/SPS8A height finder on the aft superstructure. There was to be an SK-2 parabolic dish for tropospherical backscatter communications mounted atop short tower aft of the stack, forward of the AN/SPS8A. Two Mk37/directors with Mk25 fire control radars were provided on the superstructure fore and aft. The superstructure was built up amidships to accommodate the flag staff facilities and the single stack of the original CB design retained."
Work was halted after the turrets were removed and would continue after experience was gained from the conversion of NORTHAMPTON. However, it was discovered that it was easier and cheaper to convert USS WRIGHT (CVL-49) into the second Command ship without the loss of capability and HAWAII was sent back to the reserve fleet in Philadelphia Navy Yard.
Tumblr media
The hull remained in the reserve fleet for 12 years before it was finally scrapped along with the incomplete hulls of KENTUCKY (BB-66) and ILLINOIS (BB-65).
