okay im trying to write a harry potter fanfic (focusing on the black sisters) and i wanna include like... school band but im american and i have no idea how that shit works in the uk. do they just have pep band? can i include a broomstick version of marching band? is there athletic band AT ALL, or is it just concert/symphonic band? any brits (or anybody who just know more than me) who see this please enlighten me

Freddie Mercury is considered to have been one of the most flamboyant showmen in rock ’n’ roll history. Were there any early signs of that in his performances with the Hectics?

Victory Rana: Freddie was very shy, but once he started playing his piano, he became a completely different person. But I don’t remember him as being any kind of showman – not at that age, anyway.

Subash Shah: Yes, Freddie was very shy. But he was also “a born show-off”, and his entire personality would transform once he was performing. To give you one example: one evening, as teenagers, we were walking on a beach in Zanzibar. Music was playing and Freddie spontaneously started to do the twist, the popular dance move of the time. It was such a mesmerising performance that the next thing we knew was that a group of conservative local girls, wearing burqas, had formed a circle around Freddie and began to twist with him. That was the power of his showmanship, even back then.

Did he display any signs of future greatness back then? Any indications of the shape of things to come?

Victory Rana: To be quite frank, no. Yes, Freddie had a lot of talent, and he was very passionate about his piano playing. But who could say, based on that, that he’d grow up to be the megastar that he became?

Farang Irani: His parents were good solid middle-class Parsis with middle-class values. His father was an accountant in Zanzibar, and he wanted Freddie to become an accountant or a lawyer

so for context, i came out to my band director right at the beginning of my freshman year, and she hasn't always understood but she tries really hard to be supportive and she's just generally a really sweet person. and also i'm out to my immediate family but not my grandmother (not because she's queerphobic or anything, she's just old and wouldn't understand 😅😭), who comes with us to most things we do as an immediate family too. today i had a concert for a select band thingy with a bunch if different schools in the area, and my band director forgot to put my deadname in the program for my grandma. it turned out fine, we just told my grandma it was a misprint, but my band director still felt really bad abt it. She came up to me during rehearsal this morning before the concert and was like "i'm so sorry, i don't wanna make things harder for you" and it was so sweet of her. i kept saying it was ok but she still looked so concerned, she's just the best and i'm glad she tries so hard to be supportive. anyways i just wanted to give yall some wholesome content amongst all of the discourse and hate out there. 🥹🫶

Guys.. Update on my band crush

So.. She's amazing omfg!!! She drew a Bill Cipher on me LMAO but we were flirting a lot in class, and she pinned me against the wall when I had the door opened for her, and our other classmates??? I called her pretty, she called me pretty back, and then blew me a kiss, I'M GOING FERAL HELPPP!!!!! She flirts with everyone though, but my GOSH does it make me flustered AAHAHRHRHTHTUTUTUTUTURU 😭😭😭

Btw she also really likes MHA, I love her sm, and I made a code name for her, so I'll call her Mango, and my friend made a code name for her crush, Pineapple, and in gym she showed me who Pineapple was, YIPPPEEE!!!!!
