okay, so do you guys remember when Doctor Brenner rewarded Two with a candy when he did good during the lesson?

now don’t mind me imagining him giving young Henry a candy, when Henry was the only kid there, as a reward to try to urge him into complying / into trying to do good. I’m not saying candy absolutely worked for Henry, but after all he was still a kid. and I don’t think Virginia was the kind of parents who allowed her kids to have candy. so idk dude, imagine young Henry not wanting to give in and accept Brenner’s so called gift before he gave in and did what Brenner wanted in the end, because I bet, at the beginning, Brenner gave or tried to give Henry candy without Henry having to do anything for it, and once Henry — a kid, mind you — got a taste of candy and asked for more, Brenner said he had to do something to earn it first.

just imagine Henry wanting candy. imagine Henry agreeing to be good for Brenner because he just wanted the candy. imagine candy being the only “normal” thing Henry had during his childhood. imagine Henry, now as an adult, still having a secret longing / nostalgia for something as simple, as childlike as candy.

I hate when female characters are designed based on the men around them or on their own gender. Like, a woman who has basically no personality and only exists for the men in the story, or a woman who is so tragic because she’s a woman in a sexist world, or is so badass despite being a woman, basically a woman who’s problems originate from her gender. This one is trickier cause this is the reality for a lot of women, but I need more variety. I don’t want a female character who is strong despite being a woman, I want her to be strong and a woman. I don’t want a female character to be tragic because of things that happened to her because she’s a woman (SA, unhappy marriages [specially in historical fiction], etc etc), I want her to be tragic in a way that has nothing to do with her gender, to be tragic and also a woman at the same time. I need more characters who are written the exact same way men are, and just happen to be women.

There was an interview once upon a time in which Millie Bobbie Brown mentioned that, in the leadup to filming the first season of Stranger Things, the Duffers had given their actors each a movie that had been a piece of inspiration for the show to watch as 'homework' (she was very unimpressed that she got E. T. the Extraterrestrial because "I'm supposed to be the alien".)

hey if the duffers didn’t want us shipping byler and didn’t want to be accused of queerbaiting they would have come online in some way to tell us byler wasn’t happening especially since noah has been so vocally supportive of byler since s4 one of the actors who plays half of the ship. if the duffers wanted to not be accused of queerbaiting and not receive tons of backlash over byler not happening and wanted to shut it down, they would have by now. instead multiple actors including noah, finn, brett, matthew, david, millie etc etc etc have all said stuff that alludes to byler or is in support of byler happening. i repeat, the duffers have not said one single thing to shut byler down, it is one of the MOST POPULAR SHIPS in stranger things since s4 aired. the only things the duffers have said have been suuuuper vague and if you’re smart enough, are literally telling us byler is happening. like idk y’all. the duffers using dawsons creek as inspo and paralleling mike to jack for the entire show pretty much, the last season would basically turn into the jack and doug storyline for byler. it’s actually so insane how much proof there is.

Jamie Campbell Bower is a bit of a method actor — whether he refers to himself that way or not.

In Season 4 of “Stranger Things,” he plays a vital role of Henry, aka One, aka Vecna. But when he first auditioned for the part, he was told nothing. In fact, he wasn’t even sent scripts. “I first got two sets of sides, one from ‘Primal Fear,’ and one from ‘Hellraiser,'” Bower tells Variety. “I had no idea what this character was; I wasn’t sent any material from the show.”

As a huge fan of “Stranger Things” and creators Matt and Ross Duffer, he immediately recorded his audition on tape. Then he waited for a call — a wait that, since it was the holidays, was longer than usual. When he finally did hear, he was sent “dummy sides” to show him a tiny bit more of the character.

“I went crazy for, like, two days. In my apartment, I put a picture of Will Byers in the middle, and then all the other characters around it, and then sort of made this Claire Danes-esque from ‘Homeland’ mind-map of who I thought this person was. I stepped back from it after two days, and was like, that feels kind of good,” he says. “So I took a picture, and then I printed out all the pictures and put them in this little folder — and then I got a phone call saying Matt and Ross wanted to meet.”

The meeting went well, and before it ended, he asked if he could show them what was in his folder. They said yes.

“I think they might have just been kind of humoring me. So I presented this thing to them, and then we flipped through it. They looked up at me after going through it, and they went, ‘Have you been given the scripts?’ I was like, ‘No, honestly, all I’ve been given are your dummy sides, and the two sides from the show,'” Bower explains. “They were like, ‘This is literally perfect. Everything that you’ve gotten here is perfect. Your references are perfect. The inspiration is perfect. Do you mind if we show you some more visual references that we have and what we’re thinking, and tell you a little bit more about the character?’ I think by that point, they knew I wasn’t completely insane.”

The Duffers also told him about Henry’s true identity during their discussion, which lasted about 90 minutes. Three days later, he received the news that he’d landed the role. “And then came more chaos,” he laughs.

During Episode 7 of Season 4, Henry’s full identity is revealed to Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) in a dark scene; Bower has an extremely lengthy monologue, which was about 10 pages, during which he explains to El that he killed his family (Victor Creel was his father) and was placed under Brenner’s (Matthew Modine) care. When Brenner found out how strong he was, he made Henry his first test subject — One — and later tried to recreate him, eventually leading to Eleven.

“I was just fervently going through it and building it and it was a lot. I remember doing it in the rehearsal and Millie just looking at me and saying something like, ‘You’re a freak,'” he says.

That reaction just got more intense. As the speech went on and Henry became Vecna, Brown began to cry.

“She was terrified, like, literally terrified, and when she saw Vecna, she burst into tears and she said, ‘That’s not my friend. I don’t know who this person is anymore. Where’s he gone?'” Bower says, noting that as the character, he knew that was a good thing. But it was difficult, and he really had to dig deep.

In fact, the mental preparation — both before and on the day of the intense scenes — was just as consuming as the physical one. During Episode 7, he filmed many scenes opposite both Brown, and a younger actor, Martie Blair, who played a young Eleven.

“It was scary, I’ll be honest with you. Particularly when I’m Henry or One, there’s so much manipulation that’s going on in there,” he shares. “To work with a young person or a child or somebody who’s much younger, that was an interesting dynamic. And the things that would sort of pop up in the brain were quite weird and odd.”

He says the pandemic was helpful to get into that state of mind, because it gave him extra time to really go to a new place mentally, and do “lots of weird stuff.” First, he filled his office with figurines and posters from “Hellraiser,” “Nightmare on Elm Street,” “Dracula” and other key projects from the ’80s to dive more into the horror genre.

Then came the real darkness.

“For Vecna, there’s this deep, deep, deep resentment. It’s his fuel, so I really had to tap into that, and I consider myself not somebody who holds onto resentment. So, digging that up from within me was quite a lot,” Bower says. “I mean, I wouldn’t speak to people. I wouldn’t speak to anybody outside of the ‘Stranger Things’ world for at least four days before filming anything. I would find myself doing some pretty wild stuff. If anyone saw me walking around the streets of Atlanta at 2 o’clock in the morning talking to myself, they would understand. I was just bringing up a lot of anger, particularly for Vecna.”

For Henry, it was all about focusing on being nice repeatedly — then manipulating repeatedly.

“I would write post-it notes and stick them all over wherever I was living at the time,” he tells Variety. “They said, ‘it’s all for you’ or ‘be nice to her’ or ‘she’s like you.’ I had mood boards, photographs, kind of everywhere, both from the show and external as well, and just built that up.”

Once it came time to physically transform into Vecna, it was quite the process. While viewers may assume that it’s mostly CGI, it’s actually “90%” Bower, he estimates. The vines are real vines on his costume; the only thing added in post-production is the movement within them.

The transformation took about seven and a half hours, with his day usually beginning at 3 in the morning. After about 10 to 12 hours of filming, he’d head back to the chair to get it all removed, which would take another hour.

While in the chair, Bower would stay extremely focused and quiet.

“I came in in character, wearing the character, so I’m sitting in the makeup chair very still, not really talking to anyone. Music is a big help for me. I find it to be a very visceral experience,” he says. “I had a few records that I was just constantly spinning on repeat as I’d been building the character I’d had on anyway, so there was that, sort of, subconsciousness that was coming through.”

In order to keep himself removed from others, he called one of the production assistants on the show, with whom who he’d previously worked on “Twilight,” and asked if he could have an extra 30 minutes after hair and makeup was done before filming began, to sit in the full look alone.

After the PAs figured out what he needed, they found a room that Bower could sit in.

“It was totally pitch black. I’d sit in there between the takes and go for it. It was it really interesting. About halfway through, I started to become quite afraid of Vecna,” he says. “I remember seeing Matthew Modine one day and being like, ‘Modine, I’m terrified of this person. It’s really weird.’ He’s like, ‘Oh yeah, that’s good!’ I was like, ‘Oh, thanks for your help, buddy!'”

I know there are many celebs out there but speaking purely about st I would hope that the duffers etc would want their last season to go out with a bang like they’ve hyped it up to be so surely regardless of their views they would want their cast and crew to Stop. Talking. Or own up to what they’ve said and apologise or something??? (And also if they wanna kill Murray off in ep1 I wouldn’t be opposed.. telling ppl to shove their ceasefire up their asses?! Stranger Things 5: tutto quello che sappiamo sulla nuova stagione

La notizia che tutti aspettavamo con grande trepidazione. È tempo di tornare ad Hawkins. Ed è tempo di immergersi nel Sottosopra, per un'ultima e indimenticabile volta. Anche se non c'è ancora data di uscita, Netflix ha, da poco, annunciato l'inizio della produzione della stagione 5 di Stranger Things, che racconterà l'emozionante (e forse dolorosa?) fine della storia iniziata nel lontano 2016. Con l'annuncio, dell’avvio delle riprese, è arrivata anche la prima foto del cast. In quell'immagine ci sono proprio tutti i protagonisti di uno show diventato iconico.

E sì, c'è anche Sadie Sink, la nostra amata Max, un personaggio il cui destino è ancora in bilico tra la vita e la morte. Ma dobbiamo aspettarci davvero una stagione indimenticabile? "Questa stagione è come se fosse la stagione uno con gli steroidi" hanno dichiarato qualche mese fa i creatori di Stranger Things, i Duffer Brothers. "È la più grande in assoluto in termini di scala, ma è stata davvero divertente, perché tutti sono di nuovo insieme a Hawkins: i ragazzi e Undici interagiscono di più, in linea con quanto accadeva nella prima stagione".

Stranger Things 5 sarà interamente ambientata ad Hawkins

Come avevano confermato i Duffer Brothers subito dopo la fine della stagione 4, l'ultima stagione di Stranger Things sarà ambientata interamente ad Hawkins. Come, d'altra parte, si poteva immaginare guardando l'ultima scena dell'episodio, che ha visto i protagonisti su una collina a scrutare l'orizzonte nerissimo con delle colonne di fumo uscire dalla terra per arrivare alte fino al cielo. Se Stranger Things 5 si svolgerà interamente a Hawkins, è probabile che non ci sia alcuna fase d'attesa, e che l'azione "partirà in quarta", senza un attimo di respiro.

Mad Max, tra la vita e la morte

Ci sarà anche Max (Sadie Sink), come abbiamo visto dalla foto del cast. E sarà lei che per prima ci farà trepidare, sin dalle prime scene, anche se, per lei come per gli altri personaggi, dovremo restare con il fiato in sospeso fino alla fine. Stranger Things, infatti, ci ha anche abituato alle "morti dolorose".

Infatti, la prima risposta che ci darà la quinta stagione è che ne sarà di Max: l'avevamo lasciata in coma con la vista e l'udito fuori uso e gran parte delle ossa rotte. I Duffer Brothers avevano svelato che nelle loro intenzioni originali  Max sarebbe dovuta morire nella stagione 4. Ma alla fine non sono riusciti a eliminare un personaggio tanto interessante quanto amato, e hanno deciso quindi di tenerla in vita.

Eddie Munson is alive!

Non è più in vita ma è sempre tra noi, Eddie. Sì, a quanto pare insieme a Max, ripartiremo da un altro dei personaggi cult di Stranger Things 4. Infatti una delle prime foto dal set, "rubate" e diffuse sui social, della nuova stagione ci hanno mostrato Dustin Henderson (Gaten Matarazzo) al cimitero, in visita alla tomba vandalizzata di Eddie Munson. Dustin, in omaggio alla loro amicizia, indossa orgogliosamernt una maglietta dell'Hellfire Club. Eddie è stato una delle grandi intuizioni dei Duffer Brothers in Stranger Things 4, diventando subito uno dei personaggi preferiti dai fan, indimenticabile il suo assolo su Master of Puppets dei Metallica, dopo il suo eroico sacrificio per salvare i suoi amici. La città di Hawkins, però, è ancora all'oscuro di tutto, e i suoi cittadini continuano a credere che sia stato Eddie ad uccidere Chrissy. E credono anche che l'Hellfire Club sia una specie di una setta satanica, con Eddie come suo leader. Ma se Eddie non potrà tornare in vita, di certo Dustin e gli altri riusciranno a riabilitare la sua memoria.

Ci sarà Linda Hamilton. Ma non ci saranno...

Anche nella sua quinta e ultima stagione, Stranger Things darà il consueto omaggio agli anni Ottanta. In questi anni abbiamo visto tante presenze di attori simbolo degli 80s. Ricordiamo Matthew Modine e Sean Astin. E la guest star di questa nuova stagione sarà una vera e propria icona degli anni Ottanta: Linda Hamilton, l'indimenticabile Sarah Connor della saga di Terminator, ovviamente non sappiamo ancora che ruolo ricoprirà. Chi non tornerà, come ha dichiarato recentemente, è Sean Astin, che nella seconda stagione era apparso nei panni del fidanzato di Joyce Byers, Bob Newby. Anche lui sacrificatosi per salvare Joyce e i ragazzi. Ma è un personaggio così amato che, in tanti, lo avrebbero voluto vedere nuovamente, magari in un flashback. Non ci sarà neanche l'Argyle di Eduardo Franco, l’amico fattorino di Surfer Boy Pizza, di Jonathan Byers. Molto simpatico e molto amato dai fan, ma sicuramente non un personaggio centrale.

Stranger Things: un finale commovente?

Dopo la monumentale stagione 4, con episodi lunghissimi, la stagione 5 dovrebbe tornare alle origini, con episodi più brevi, lasciando così per l'episodio finale un respiro più lungo, quasi quanto quello di un film. A proposito del gran finale, è stato David Harbour, cioè il caro Hopper, a dire qualcosa sul finale. "So dove andremo a finire ed è molto, molto commovente" ha dichiarato. "Questo è il termine che userò... È un'impresa incredibile. Voglio dire, le scene e gli eventi che vedremo visto sono più grandiosi di qualsiasi cosa abbiamo fatto in passato". A sentire queste parole, l'hype dei fan è cresciuto ancor di più. Ma sale anche la paura che alcuni dei beniamini dei fan possano lasciarci. In molti, tra i fan, temono che sarà proprio l'amatissimo Steve Harrington di Joe Keery ad affrontare la dipartita; un personaggio che, da bullo, è diventato il più grande amico e alleato dei giovani protagonisti.

Come sconfiggere il passare del tempo?

Ma, oltre che contro Vecna, i nostri protagonisti dovranno lottare contro il passare del tempo. Già nella quarta stagione li avevamo visti cresciuti. Ora, sono passati altri due anni. Del resto, è questo il problema delle saghe molto lunghe e che hanno per protagonisti preadolescenti, un po' come era successo per Harry Potter. I produttori di Stranger Things hanno pensato a questa problematica, come ha dichiarato Shawn Levy. "Abbiamo già visto il cast del nostro show crescere sotto gli occhi del pubblico, e tra i 12 e i 22 anni ogni essere umano cambia profondamente. il passare del tempo non aiuta di certo. Detto ciò, il nostro reparto di acconciatura, trucco e costumi è davvero eccezionale a usare tutti gli strumenti che ha a disposizione. Gli anni '80 sono anche nostri amici nel restituire a questi giovani attori adulti i loro iconici personaggi di Hawkins. Quindi useremo tutti gli strumenti a nostra disposizione. E so che il nostro cast è ansioso di tornare al lavoro come tutti noi".

L'inizio della fine

L'incipit della sceneggiatura dell’ultimo atto di Stranger Things, comunicata via social, si apre con queste parole "Buio. Vento freddo. Fruscio di alberi. E... la voce di un ragazzino canta una canzone familiare". Ma quale canzone sarà? Forse il tema della quarta stagione, ovvero Running Up That Hill di Kate Bush? O l'altra canzone cult della passata stagione, Master Of Puppets dei Metallica? O Should I Stay Or Should I Go dei Clash, che era una delle chiavi narrative della prima stagione? Ma c'è una canzone che i fan di Stranger Things vorrebbero sentire: Don't Give Up di Kate Bush e Peter Gabriel. Ovvero, "non mollare". Beh viste le sfide che i protagonisti dovranno affrontare, il brano risulterebbe emblematico.

We are heartened by Friday's release of the two American hostages, Judith Ranaan and her daughter Natalie Ranaan [Raanan] and by today's release of two Israelis, Nurit Cooper and Yocheved Lifshitz, whose husbands remain in captivity.

But our relief is tempered by our overwhelming concern that 220 innocent people, including 30 children, remain captive by terrorists, threatened with torture and death. They were taken by Hamas in the savage massacre of October 7, where over 1,400 Israelis were slaughtered—women raped, families burned alive, and infants beheaded.

Thank you for your unshakable moral conviction, leadership, and support for the Jewish people, who have been terrorized by Hamas since the group's founding over 35 years ago, and for the Palestinians, who have also been terrorized, oppressed, and victimized by Hamas for the last 17 years that the group has been governing Gaza.

We all want the same thing: Freedom for Israelis and Palestinians to live side by side in peace. Freedom from the brutal violence spread by Hamas. And most urgently, in this moment, freedom for the hostages.

We urge everyone to not rest until all hostages are released. No hostage can be left behind. Whether American, Argentinian, Australian, Azerbaijani, Brazilian, British, Canadian, Chilean, Chinese, Danish, Dutch, Eritrean, Filipino, French, German, Indian, Israeli, Italian, Kazakh, Mexican, Panamanian, Paraguayan, Peruvian, Polish, Portuguese, Romanian, Russian, South African, Spanish, Sri Lankan, Thai, Ukrainian, Uzbekistani or otherwise, we need to bring them home.
