Happy Halloween! This drawing is based on the AA episode Blood Feud because I am so curious about the sequence of events that led to Nat being bitten. What was she doing there??? How did Dracula catch her?? Was there any kind of mental battle between them?? (Nat is notoriously resistant to mind control and external influences) Anyway, it makes for great spooky imagery.

Aaaaand the very first issue of The Tomb of Dracula falls into the same pitfall that the Swiss production of Dracula the Musical.
No, you very much wouldn't be able to inherit a castle in Transylvania in the 1970s.
#i get it that these comics were supposed to be dumb fun but i still wish they gave more fucks#also they yet again had vh to be the one to kill drac#dracula#the tomb of dracula#marvel dracula#dracula fiction#eastern europe#dracula the musical#my tags#my posts#reading the tomb of dracula

Just in time for the new Blood Hunt event, Marvel comics is releasing a figure of their depiction of Dracula. Unfortunately it's the 2010-2019 look that I don't like, where he's in the armor and has a high ponytail.
I love Dracula with pointed ears but the ponytail and armor makes me feel like this is "warrior elf" Dracula. I'm not a fan of the look. My favorite look for Marvel's Dracula is actually (No, not even Tomb of Dracula) it's the X-Men '92 comics look.

@marvelousmrm I also hate the idea of Tomb of Dracula. Not so much because Dracula isn't fun, but because I don't love a book about hunting a whole race. Vampire Hunters like Blade freak me out, because they seem like indiscriminate killers (they apparently even wrote a black and white comic where Blade killed vampire children, I think). But on a more fun note: I love the idea of the vampire cow!

Giant-Size Man-Thing #5 (Gerber/Brunner, Aug 1975). Howard the Duck seizes his new backup feature with both… wings? Seeking a place for himself in this strange new world, he tracks a serial killer. It turns out to be a vampire cow created by Dracula. I refuse to pick Tomb of Dracula back up, even if he’s turning cows to vampires.

Loooool in the first issue of The Tomb of Dracula, Dracula gets repelled by a silver compact powder case.
Which may be a nice callback to him getting hit by a shovel in the novel (you know, getting hurt by surprisingly mundane objects), a bit dimmed by the fact that silver is probably not among his weaknesses there. He holds a silver lamp at one point, after all.
#he also likely doesn't have healing powers or retractable teeth#dracula#count dracula#the tomb of dracula#marvel dracula#my tags#my posts#reading the tomb of dracula

Some of y'all don't appreciate Hugh Jackman as Van Helsing and it shows!
Also, can you imagine if Wade went to a universe where Logan is some kind of vampire hunter, dressed like THIS

Wade would have a CONNIPTION! He'd definitely stay in this universe for a bit, just to get seduced by the Dracula slayer and then be on his way.

Beginning in 1980, I think my interest in comics begins to wane. Oh, it's always a finicky interest. But I can usually read anything from the 60s and half the things from the 70s. But by 1980, there's just not that much that I'd want to read anymore. Let's give some examples:
• The Avengers stop being good around Issue #200, when Ms. Marvel has her character ruined. Also around this time they make Hank Pym a domestic abuser and (seemingly) try to ruin his character, which I really, really hate.
• Thor ditches Don Blake to introduce Beta Ray Bill, I've heard. And I hate that too. I love Don Blake as a concept, and I'm outraged they'd ditch it.
• Marvel killed off almost all their vampires for a while. And I really hate that too.
• Captain Marvel dies permanently. I don't even love Captain Marvel that much, but I hate that they'd do that to me.
I can keep going, but then I'd be here all night. So let's end it here. Maybe if I think of more things, I'll create a part 2 to this.
