So I’ve been doing some digging on Goncharov’s (1973) infamous directors cut with the kiss between Goncharov and Andrey, and I managed to find some clips? I can’t post them due to the layers and layers of red tape around it even with the remake on the horizon… but OH. MY. GOD.

One of the clips is Katya and Sofia fucking on a pool table. It’s definitely rather fetish-y, tbh, but this Is the 70s, but also SO emotional? I love them so much, I’m glad to see Matteo JWHJ0715 does too. I’m sure they wished they could include this in the movie. I sure wish they did. smh.

My ex was the one who first introduced me to Goncharov (1973) he said is was one of his favorite films and he really related to the mc. Should have been my first red flag. In a way I can’t help but like this film, it helped me see how toxic our relationship really was. He was never going to truly commit to me just like Goncharov could never truly commit to Katya. Anyway true facts if you meet a dude who’s fave film is Goncharov just walk the other way.

La vigencia de los clásicos

Una obra cumbre y titánica como Taxi driver (Martín Scorsese, 1975; actualmente en cartelera en una copia remasterizada) sigue resultando admirable en todos sus frentes. La interpretación de De Niro para construir un personaje tan enternecedor como inquietante, el guión de P. Schraeder entrelazando la guerra, la política y sus consecuencias anímicas y mentales en la sociedad norteamericana, la música de Hermann y sus climas melancólicos, la fotografía de Chapman y ese neón urbano inolvidable, el montaje de Rolf y Shapiro que edifica un ritmo por momentos vertiginoso y por otros de tensa calma y, lógicamente, la dirección de Scorsese para disponer estos aspectos y plasmar con su cámara planos, espacios, movimientos únicos que acompañan sin enjuiciar -pero a la vez exponiendo- la situación de borde, de entrada en la locura de su personaje, cimientan un film que, simplemente y sin nada más que agregar, ratifica la condición imperecedera de los clásicos.
