Hello everyone! Please take a look at the finished bracket!

Nasty people go away. Terfs, proship and standard dni criteria fitters are not allowed here.

You can submit several characters, even from the same source, but please don't submit one character several times/spam.

Variations on the name Martin are welcome!

No: real people (unless it's really funny), DSMP/Harry Potter/Attack on Titan/vivziepop/South Park/other shitty source characters. Also no Homestuck.

Friends and enemies, pineapples and mathematicians, welcome to the Iconic Names Tournament!

We all have knee jerk reactions when we hear certain names, whether they’re good or bad reactions. This is your chance to give your favorite (or least favorite?) names some recognition. Come be a linguistics or history nerd! Tell us all about your name or your favorite character’s name and how it came to be!

This bracket will hopefully consist of 80 names in the end, some real people, some fictional characters, some just plain old names.

Submissions will close on June 2nd. Go nuts!

The rules

Celebrities’ names are allowed, names of your pets are not. ONE pet exception will be made if a very good case is made for it.

Submit as many names as you like SEPARATELY. The more submissions there are for a name, the better, but don’t spam submit one name in the hopes of it getting in.

This bracket is about the names, not the characters! Please don’t submit your favorite character ever just because they’re your favorite.

No religious figures from any religion (e.g. Jesus Christ), MCYT characters/real life counterparts, Harry Potter characters, or particularly heinous historical figures.

Propaganda for a name is welcome through asks, reblogs, or blog submissions.

We reserve the right to refuse a submission.

Disparaging cultural names/names from media you dislike will get you blocked. It’s rude, it can be racist and xenophobic, don’t do it.
