Here are both my pieces for the @bdubszine !!!!! Such a great opportunity to run with it and just have fun with detail work.
I am in love with sungod bdubs and very proud of this piece with the improv class^^
Down below is some in depth talk for the first piece with bdubs and all his clocks :D
The one on his chest is a regular minecraft clock - he always carries one in his offhand. In the background his his big tower from his "building with bdubs" series. He is wearing his moss cloak. On his wirst: A clock with a horse: he loves horses. also it actually is inspired by the horse-mountain he build in season 9 of hermitcraft A purple clock with ears: a purple panda clock. He joined one mcc (minecraft championship) and one it first try on the team called purple pandas) A tnt block-clock: Season 7 of hermitcraft he had, alongside impulse and tango, a company called "the boomers" who would explode stuff with tnt for diamonds - bdubs stick was he would die in every blow up they do (there are compilations)
in his jacket: The clock looking like a ring: reference to double life. He was soul-bonded to impulse and they lowkey roleplayed as a married couple and impulse gifted him a clock as a sign or marriage. therefore it looks like a ring. it also has "i" pointers because impulse always puts "i"s on his stuff A regular alarm clock: Basically that - maybe a reference for him always sleeping through the night. The red glasses clock: reference to season 8. He, tango and keralis based together and called themself "big eyes crew" and they all wore red glasses Emerald shaped clock: season 9 as the right hand to king rendog (theres also a crown inside the shape) emeralds because rendog and bdubs wanted to change currency to royal emeralds which started a war on the server and led to rendogs execution. bdubs stayed loyal till the end "hep" clock: Season 7. He plays right hand man to mayor scar. There was a turfwar between two groups - one wanted their main island to be mycelium the other wanted it to be grass. HEP was the group who wanted grassblocks so its a grassblocked shaped clock. they lost the war clock with a snake: 3rd life reference. Inside the clock theres a castle "the crastle" which was his and cleos base in 3rd life. The snake stands for cleo. the heart is part of the logo for the traffic series (same btw count for the heart in the impulse ring) sundial: reference to the hermitcraftxempires smp crossover. bdubs came to empires smp and announced himself as "the sungod" and basically became a god and gem, oli, fwhip and sausage were his followers for the short time. the shape is after a build sausage made in his name the "B" sign: reference to last life. He was part of team B.E.S.T. and they had shields with their initials aka Bdubs, Etho, Skizzlman and Tango. The four hearts are the lifes he was given at the start of the series half tnt clock: reference to ethoslab who is his best friend on hermitcraft and they are just unnormal about each other messed up steam punk clock: reference to the create series he did with keralis, tango, scar and zedaph who unfortunatly was short lived mcc coin: the coin he got for winning mcc broken heart monitor clock: limited life. there's a heart monitor and digital clock. the clock is broken because bdubs didnt uploaded his view for limited life (at the time of drawing this piece) so we never new how much time he had left (we know now) small pocket watch with snake and wings: also limited life. he teamed up with scar (the wings) and cleo (the snake) tree clock: the tree of whimsey. one of his first builds of season 9. he crowned tango as parkour king, cub as royal magican/dragonslayer and ren as king under it
rest of the smaller clocks are filler

Why I think Susie being a dragon is important, and how this relates to the Knight.
Dragon’s Hoard: Dragons are hoarding creatures. A big example of this is Smaug, the dragon from Lord of the Rings, the representation of greed and pride. Deltarune itself makes a reference to LoTR with Gerson’s “Lord of the Hammer” books, which may be a hint from Toby to the player.
Tumblr media
When you think about it, Castle Town is essentially a hoard: the closet once empty is now full of objects that represent the darkners. And in each chapter, Kris grows this ‘hoard’ even more, the game straight up incentivizing that you do so. Wouldn’t this make Castle Town Susie’s hoard? Susie’s growing attachment to Castle Town, her hoard, may become important later. The Roaring (and in the Weird Route’s case, the player) is a direct threat to it. And also, one day she’ll probably have to let go of this ‘hoard’. The only route where you cannot grow the hoard is in the Weird Route, what that means is unclear to me so far. But regardless, the hoard is still a thing in this route, as the chapter 1 citizens are unskippable.
Chaos, Dragon and Knights Chaoskampf: “the battle against chaos“, also described as a "combat myth", is generally used to refer to a widespread mythological motif involving battle between a culture hero deity with a chaos monster, often in the form of a sea serpent or dragon.“ -source
Tumblr media
[Depiction of the Christianized Chaoskampf: statue of Archangel Michael slaying a dragon. The inscription on the shield reads: Quis ut Deus?- “Who [is] like God?”, a literal translation of the name Michael]
Dragons being an enbodiment of Chaos shows not only how Susie's nature affects the story, but how she’s out of the player’s and the narrative’s control. This is also more evidence to Susie’s element being "Chaos", the same as Jevil’s.
A knight is usually the hero in stories, but in Deltarune, it is the main antagonist. So what does this mean for Susie? The dragon in our party? Susie being a dragon means she is the Knight’s natural enemy. Is the Knight aware of her?
Princess and Dragon Speaking of, in literature, there is another very well known trope regarding dragons: the princess and dragon archetype. “The story involves an upper-class woman, generally a princess or similar high-ranking nobility, saved from a dragon, either a literal dragon or a similar danger, by the virtuous hero (see damsel in distress). [...] Normally the princess ends up married to the dragonslayer. “ -source
If the Queen represents Noelle’s mom, that makes Noelle the princess of this story. So what does this mean for the Snowgrave/Weird route? The player’s intentions in this route are to follow a more cliché romance, where the knight, Kris, gets the damsel, Noelle. The player even making Kris give her a proposal ring in this route, tying them together. Knowing the princess and dragon archetype, wouldnt Susie, being the dragon of the story, become the “bad guy”? Even if Noelle loves Susie even in this route, this only gives the player more motive to antagonize her, for being an obstacle between Kris and Noelle.
Ok, lets talk Gaster. Going back to that statue of Michael and the dragon, although I theorized that this archetype may foreshadow that Susie will fight either the Knight or Kris later on, that statue is in actuality meant to represent Michael slaying Satan. Which is theorized to be Gaster (666). That only makes me question why is Susie a dragon, and Kris a knight, even more. Like, doesn’t the Gaster Blaster suspiciously look a lot like the skull of a dragon??
Tumblr media
So what does that mean? If This game has 2, or even multiple knights, couldn’t it also have more than 1 dragon?

Fox of Fox Hall - m/m fantasy romance
If you like m/m romance and characters with tails (and knots), and background dragons, and oh, desperately lonely court musicians putting on a brave face while worrying over housing and money and a situationship only to end up in the arms of a heroic knight out to show him that love and a home and eventually family are available to him, then here is this thing that I did.
Fox of Fox Hall
Tumblr media
Throughout the kingdom of Kaska and into the countries beyond, they gossip about the scandalous Fox, the beautiful commoner who went from singing in taverns to being court musician and the king’s lover. But the king has grown distant and now seeks a proper consort, leaving Fox shut out of the king’s bedroom and uncertain of his place at court. His worries are compounded by the crowded accommodations during the King’s Tournament, as even nobles fight for space within the castle. Fox might have nowhere to go.
Then legendary knight Byr Conall, the famed Dragonslayer, steps in to offer Fox a place to stay among the knights competing in the tournament. Conall is the one person at court not intimidated by the king, and therefore the one person Fox has avoided so as not to incur the king’s wrath. At least, that’s one reason. The other is that something about the thoughtful, crafty mountain of a man makes Fox feel less like the glamorous, clever figure known far and wide as the King’s Fox and more like the jittery, uncertain youth Fox was when he first arrived at court.
Conall almost makes Fox believe in the romantic songs he sings to entertain others. But nobles do not marry commoners, and even if they did, Fox can’t believe that an actual hero like Conall would choose a jumped-up street musician only lately out of the king’s bed. It might take winning a tournament, defying the king, and shocking the court, but Conall is out to convince Fox that Fox doesn’t just deserve his heart, but also a home.
Available in ebook at all the usual places

I've never really talked about any of my other LoTR and Silm ships on here, but I definitely have them and I also thought it would be funny to just make a comprehensive list of why I fucking like them at all
Aralas (Aragorn x Legolas)- This one is so goofy to me but I love it. I enjoy the "childhood best friends turned lovers during the middle of a war" aspect of it and the fact that it's pretty much two horse girls in a romantic relationship. It was mostly dredged up when I saw the rerelease of Fellowship of the Ring in theaters and was like "huh some of this shit looks a little more gay than I remember." Its one hundred percent the least angsty ship of them all and that's saying a lot considering they're one hundred percent not canon. They're cute, simple, and traveling together across Middle Earth as lovers makes me smile.
Angbang (Melkor x Mairon)- Oh boy. If you already follow me you knew this was coming. A lot of this ship revolves around me loving Mairon and his story and also the fact that my heart breaks for him. I love writing them and exploring the dichotomy of how to write them. Canonically they're both terrible people, so it stands to reason they didn't have the healthiest relationship (Mairon got the brunt of it). I love writing about they're doomed from the beginning, about how the people they already are guarantees that they'll crash and burn. But at the same time I like the cheesy, if not a little out-of-character fics of Melkor genuinely caring for him or missing him or realizing he fucked up by treating the only person he's ever loved like shit. I love the fics of Mairon taking care of Melkor, and even the angsty ones where Mairon isn't worth to Melkor half of what he thought he was, that it feels like he was never worth anything to anyone. I also adore the community of Angbang shippers, they're so tightknit and one hundred percent unashamed of everything they write/draw.
Russingon (Maedhros x Fingon)- I represent the duality of shippers that loves Angbang but also adores Russingon and wants to kill Sauron when it comes to the latter ship. Maedhros actually is my favorite Silm character and a lot of that revolves around personal reasons and also the fact that I have a lot of intense feelings about him (as we all do). Russingon is the closest you get to a canon ship beyond Beleg and Turin and the deliberate statements of "they were married" concerning other characters. I'm absolutely not normal about Fingon rescuing him from Thangorodrim, I'm not normal about the Helcaraxe or the First Kinslaying, and I'm sure as hell not normal the mourning that comes with Fingon's body not being able to be brought back. I also legitimately cry at the fics that write Fingon as waiting in the Halls of Mandos for Maedhros to join him because god.
Barduil (Bard x Thranduil)- I saved this one for last because they're my favorite across both mediums of Tolkien works and Thranduil is my favorite character (you wouldn't guess by this blog). Everything about Thranduil as a character breaks my heart once you look into him deeper (I have a type) and realize that the motivations behind most of his actions aren't a result of greed and spite, but a result of intense trauma and grief. And I love Bard because he's literally just a guy. He's just some guy who lives on a lake town with three kids and has a simple job as a bargeman. There was never anything special about him until he became a Dragonslayer, and even then in the Hobbit (the book version) he doesn't kill Smaug with anything special, it just happened to be his last lucky arrow. The two of them couldn't be more different on the surface. But they both lost their wives, they've both raised kids on their own, they were both forced into a position of power before they were ready and they've both seen the horrors of war. I love every fic about them, especially the ones where Bard sees Thranduil's wound for the first time and the ones where Thranduil realizes it's not so scary to let himself love again, even if it doesn't last forever. Also every modern AU is so fucking cute, I can't even deal.
I have other ships but these are the big four and the ones I'm least normal about and have the most vague ramblings of.

My Thoughts On Jaune x RWBY + JNPR Marriage Surnames
This is the... well not follow up since those polls are still live, but just my general thoughts on what happens with the surnames for some Jaune ships.
Now, admittedly the answer to that is partially going to come down to the cultures of Remnant. There are 5 confirmed married couples in RWBY, at least in the main show. Those being Kali and Ghira, Jacque and Willow, Li and An Ren, Terra and Saphron, and Taiyang and Raven.
3/5 have one of the partners taking the other's surname. 1/5 are hyphenated. And we don't know if Raven took Taiyang's last name when they were married, but since Yang is a Xiao Long, we can assume he didn't take hers and they probably didn't hyphenate.
Also, we don't know if Tai and Summer were married or not.
The majority of characters also just have singular surnames, so it seems one partner taking the others surname is the default on Remnant.
With that in mind, I also don't think Jaune would want to give up the Arc name anyways. Since trying to live up to the Arc legacy is a fairly large part of his character. At least in my interpretation of the character.
So let's get into it, I'm also going to link each poll if you want to vote in that.
------
Lancaster:
I can see the Rose name being important, but not super important to Ruby. Kind of depends on where the marriage takes place in the timeline I guess.
I'm leaning a bit more to Ruby just being an Arc, but I can see them going with Rose-Arc to keep the alliteration for Ruby's name.
------
White Knight:
Weiss cares about her family legacy as much as Jaune. No way either are giving up their surnames.
Arc-Schnee sounds a little better, so I'll go with that.
------
Knightshade:
This one definitely depends on when it happens.
If it happens before Blake reconnects with her family, somehow, she'll just be an Arc.
If after, then definitely Belladonna-Arc. Arc-Belladonna just doesn't sound right.
------
Dragonslayer:
Honestly, I think Yang is just a bit of a hopeless romantic and would just take her partner's surname unless they really wanted to hyphenate it.
So Yang Arc for this one.
------
Nora's Arc:
I don't really think Nora cares about her surname... at all. So she'd probably just go with whatever her partner wanted to do.
That or she'd want to arm wrestle for it.
------
Arkos:
Honestly, I think Pyrrha would change her name to be less recognizable. And because she knows how much being an Arc matter to Jaune.
Pyrrha: Pyrrha Nikos? No, I'm just plain old boring Mrs. Arc. Now if you'll excuse me, I have to go try for my 17th child now.
Though I'd imagine whatever company represents her would just want her to keep Nikos.
------
Martial Arcs:
I can't say I've thought about it much, but I'd imagine Ren would care about his family legacy as much as Jaune.
So I'll go with Ren-Arc.
------
Bonus Arculus Rift:
Does Penny care about surnames?
I'll just go with a 50/50 on Arc or Polendina-Arc and call it a day.
------
And yeah, I used witch instead of which on all of the polls. But it's okay, English is only my first language.
What do you think?

No Small Feat Artwork Pt. 2 - Major NPCs
By request, I'm gonna show off some of the artwork for No Small Feat, a Midgaheim story my friends and I told through the TTRPG system Fabula Ultima. I drew a lot of characters and monsters for it, and my friends - in particular, @dragonzzilla, @scatha5, and @dinosaurana - helped line and color them so we'd have cute little sprites to use on our online battlemaps, which really helped sell the whole "we're playing an oldschool turn based RPG" vibe that Fabula Ultima's system is going for.
This batch is comprised of what I'm calling the Major NPCs - recurring non-player characters who had a big role in the campaign. Fabula Ultima has a Bond system that gives players a tangible benefit for getting invested in the story and characters they meet in the game, so I tried to structure it so they would have some character who they'd be inclined to form those bonds with so they could exploit that mechanic. I personally love it when a game gives a mechanical incentive to getting invested in its story, it just seems so intuitive and obvious for an RPG, and I wanted to do my best to make that mechanic work.
Tumblr media
The first recurring NPC the party met was Leonie Ymbessil. Most of the characters in No Small Feat were designed to fit fairy tale archetyepes, and in Leonie's case, she's the Disobedient Girl - your Red Riding Hood/Goldilocks style young woman who is given sound advice that she promptly ignores, which draws her into peril as a result. There are disobedient boys in fairy tales too, but the way their stories play out tend to vary quite a bit - a disobedient girl will almost always be thrust into incredible danger that, if she even survives it, will leave her so traumatized that she never breaks a rule again, while disobedient boys get to rob giants through trickery and guile and become kings.
And while No Small Feat was a fairy tale homage by design, I also wanted it to be a bit of a subversion when it came to some tropes - Fairy Tales off the Rails, if you will. And one of my big secret goals was to see if I could convincingly buck convention and get my auidence/fellow storytellers on the disobedient girl's side, and help her make out like a bandit the way all the disobedient boys do.
Leonie began the story as the spendthrift daughter of a wealthy merchant, who was currently down on her luck because her father cut her off for being too careless with money and forced her to work in one of his shops to earn a living. But she also had a plan - namely, to marry some lonely rich bastard and live off his fortune. Though definitely greedy, Leonie is also incredibly charitable, often giving away ludicrous amounts of whatever wealth she gained in a particular arc to people who were needy or just glum - her spendthrift nature is partly a reflection of her desire to see other people happy and taken care of.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Eventually Leonie, like the PCs, became more formidable as the story went along, occasionally even acting as a temporary ally for a couple boss fights. She, uh, might have taken up my brain a bit. I have a lot of Leonie art that wasn't strictly necessary for the campaign, but was necessary for my happiness. Some of that art I can even show in public!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(there's even more of it, but we'll get to it when we cover another Major NPC)
Tumblr media
The next Major NPC the heroes were introduced to was Sir George Garston I, who is essentially Midgaheim's take on Saint George. The most prolific dragonslayer of all time, George is an affable, down-to-earth gentleman who, at the beginning of the campaign, saw his duty as being the protection of mankind against vicious beasts. Our party was leery of him because, well, because they know I love dragons to death and that my Midgaheim setting is positively flooded with dragons who are Really Good Guys, so a guy whose whole deal is "he's killed a shitload of dragons" has to be bad news, right?
And, like, George definitely was not a perfect person at the beginning of the game - he views the conflicts between dragons and humans from the human side by default, never once questioning whether the dragons may be the wronged party from time to time. But he ultimately proved to be a person who wanted to help his fellow human beings, and one who did not delight in killing - dragonslaying, to him, was an ugly but necessary job, and when the story unfolded to the point where he could see how, sometimes, humans were the aggressors in these conflicts, George did shift his view, recognizing that dragons were living things who needed to be protected at times too. The nuances of living in a world where giant lizards are capable of abstract thought but rarely capable of expressing it in ways humans can understand.
George was also a sort of secretly sad individual, being blessed/cursed with a magically extended lifespan and a much slower aging process, which allowed him to not only outlive his wife by decades, but look far younger than he feels in the process, which was wreaking havoc on his psyche at the start of the campaign. Our heroes caught George in the first of what are likely many breakdowns in an immortal's life where they wonder why they still exist when everything they loved has passed. It's ok, the party got him what passes for therapy in a vaguely medieval fantasy land.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Our party had one more fabled hero to meet among the Major NPCs, and that was none other than the posterboy for Disobedient Boy heroes in Fairy Tales, Jack Giantslayer. Midgaheim goes with the "all the Jacks in Fairy Tales are the same Jack" approach, and the result was a neurotic, twitchy, easily startled mess of a ginger who my notes told me to "Try to channel Charlie Day as much as possible, even though you can't do a good Charlie Day impression." Oh, and he's blessed (cursed?) to be really good at killing ogres, even when he's not trying to - which our heroes found out when he tried to cause a distraction with his slingshot, only for his pebble to pingpong around until it hit a painting that fell off from just the right height and angle to decapitate the ogre butler they were trying to avoid.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Anyway he ended up dating Leonie fuck you it's my RPG I can indulge if I want
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Our party had a few nonhuman helpers, too. The Phenex chick was rescued by them after they fended off a pissed and dying phenex, and provided them with a small but occasionally refreshed supply of ashes that could be used to bring a player back up from 0 HP mid-battle. They also met a bridled kelpie that, once freed, decided to help shepherd them around, giving them a fast travel option that was VERY useful given the... other travel mechanic this game had going on, which you'll find out in a later entry.
Tumblr media
Some of our PCs needed an extra kick out the proverbial door in session 0. In Charles's case, he was led astray by Cassandra, a sphinx in Aesopton who lived on the outskirts of town and was always gloomy and aloof around others. Being burdened with the gift of prophecy, Cassandra had somewhat selfish motivations in leading Charles astray, as she knew he would not only be crucial in saving Engelsex from the crisis that was going on in the campaign, but would also be able to rescue her when she was kidnapped and placed into a menagerie sometime after Charles was lost. Charles didn't hold it against her, though, and the two ended up in a bit of a romance by the end of things.
Tumblr media
For Montblanc and Edmund, though, I called upon another fairy tale archetype: the Wicked Witch. And I specifically grabbed one of the biggest from English folklore, albeit with a slight tweak to her name - Bleak Annis, infamous hag and boogeyman, cursed Charles to take on a bestial shape while gifting Montblanc a grimoire before tasking him to draw 100 beasts. She wasn't done there, either, showing up now and then to manipulate the rest of the party into finding the right clues and being in the right places at the right time to face the big threat, all while remaining ambiguous about her true intentions for most of the plot. She also served as the pokedex narrator for Montblanc's growing bestiary, which was fun for me to RP.
And that's our major recurring players! Well, except for the antagonists of course, but we'll cover them as we look at individual arcs from here on out.

I was listening to Lana Del Rey on shuffle and I completely forgot about the masterpiece that the song "Dragonslayer" is and now I lowkey want to add yet another WIP to my list because it could inspire me to write something with Ser Gwayne Hightower.
On the other hand, it already reminds me a little of my fanfic where Reader is Rhaenyra's sister — "Broken Oath" — because the song is about a woman who has some reputation & she's "the people's daughter"... Suits the Royal Princess, doesn't it? Since Reader/Eleaena has her own dragon in the fic, she could be a "Dragonslayer" herself if she evers takes Onyx to battle. "Her children young but her soul is old" lyric suits as well and so does "she'll never leave this town, she is the father's daughter" because Reader/Elaena has never left Oldtown after marrying Gwayne and she has a difficult relationship with her father King Viserys. And the "patron saint of troubled daughters, hold your light and you have it true" lyric??? It's about The Hightowers and "We Light The Way" motto. Ugh...

Our last dragon is Sarki from the mythology of the Hausa people. He appears in the Bayajidda legend.
According to this legend, Bayajidda is the prince of Baghdad, who is exiled from Persia and travels through Northern Africa until he reaches Bornu.
When he comes to Daura, he asks an old woman for water, but she tells him, that the serpent Sarki is guarding the well and only gives them water once a week. So Bayajidda went to the well and killed the serpent, and then he brought the old woman some water.
The next day, the people are wondering who killed Sarki. So queen Magajiya offers the dragonslayer half of the city, and shortly after, a bunch of men come with the heads of serpents, but none of them fit the body of Sarki. They don't find the real dragonslayer until the old woman tells them that her guest was the one who killed Sarki.
Bayajidda produces the head of Sarki and proves to be the real dragonslayer. Instead of half of the city, he wants to marry the queen, which she happily obliges to.
This story contains another typical element of dragonlayer stories, the false dragonslayer. Just like in most European tales, other people try to pass themselves as dragonslayers by bringing dragon heads, but only the true hero can bring the ultimate proof.

More headcannons for the Last Dragonslayer because the final is tomorrow and if I see a letter of the greek alphabet in the next 5 mins I will lose it:
Jacaerys and Baela become king&queen of the seven kingdoms after Rhaenyra leaves, but trigger an internal succession crisis that ends with Viserys II marrying their eldest daughter
Lucerys steps down as the heir to driftmark, giving the reigns mostly to Rhaena
At least one of Lucerys' children with Rhaena is a dreamer, but they have many, spawning the split into a whole other vassal house of Targaeryen
Rhaena herself thanked the reader for rescuing Luke, but reader just shrugged and said "it was not his time yet"
Daemon dies before reader and Rhaenyra go off to explore the world
I presume you have read Fire and Blood as a whole, so I propose a fun idea: Reader met Alissa Farman
In reader's journal found on Dragonstone, it is alluded to them knowing what happened to Aerea, and wishing she never had come to Valyria at all
Reader, in said journal, called Jaeherys "A king who tipped the balance a bit too far"
Jaehera and little Aegon still marry, but do not have children
Helaena asks Rhaenyra about "her companion", and Rhaenyra and Helaena bond over their knowledge of things beyond the scope of understanding
Reader keeps a single tooth from Vhagar, as a reminder to never let the balance tip as far again. Rhaenyra sees it when they meet again decades later, and reader tells her Aemond could have been different, if a child of his age did not get a dragon so ancient
I had the same problem with Latin words and numbers. 🤣🤣🤣
These are all such an interesting ideas. I can see the reader knowing what truly happened with Aerea, and her meeting Elissa Farman (which could make the reader even more important figure that comes into play in later events, perhaps even in the prophecy itself). 🤔
Thank you once again for sharing your brilliant ideas with me and thinking about my story on such a deep level. 🫶

Fox of Fox Hall!
Throughout the kingdom and into the countries beyond, they gossip about the scandalous Fox, the beautiful commoner who went from singing in taverns to being court musician and the king’s lover.
This is an m/m fantasy romance, and honestly the lightest thing I have done in a while. Featuring knotting and stuff and also tails! Because I wanted people to have tails! (but no humanoid foxes. Sorry. That is just his name. But the characters *are* also not exactly human.)

Just finished Dark souls 3 now (I cried in the credits-)
I'll probably replay it on summer if Silksong doesn't come out by then but holy- I didn't expect to get emotional when the credits appeared.
Next it's bloodborne (and then nightreing or sekiro)
Here are the others tier list in comparison.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And here are my girls :'), funny that I always used a lances hshs, but in the end, for the final bosses I changed.
DS1 -> Playing all game with ornstein spear then changed to black knight halberd
DS2 -> All game with the base halberd, then the final boss with Sir alonne katana
DS3 -> Dual sword/Lance then the ringed city spear and then for Nameless king and Soul of Cinder, the abyss watchers weapon (THAT WEAPON IS SO COOL, THE ANIMATIONS DAMN)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And extra one that I may use for a run with magic build
Tumblr media
I created my own lore for them, but in summary:
DS1: Gargoyle silver knight rider that's paired with Ornstein
DS2: Served Vendrick in a sub division, paired with Velstad and is the next queen of Drangleic (main character energy honestly)
DS3: Character 1 V1 -> Daughter of DS1 knight and Ornstein, paired with Leonhard and retired dragonslayer (honestly, I still need to think about her lore)
Character 1 V2 -> Lady hollow from Yuria ending where she marry Anri
Character 2 -> Scholar/old friend of Pontiff but leaves when he takes everything (from friends to enemies) (I'm still thinking of this too, since if enemies, well, enemies, but if she comes back, maybe she joins him bc potatoe and she's a mini boss or npc that tells you lore about young Pontiff.
Also, made a bingo for the souls bosses I want in nightreing hehe

Guess who isn't fucking done yet
Tumblr media
Although they've gotten jossed from SotFS edition, but Durgo and their brother-in-law used to be hostile phantoms in Drangleic Castle in the original game! ( x ) ( x )
Durgo's gender is also not specified in Japanese script (localisation team always defaults to 'he' in these situations) but the phantom was 'female', so I just take this as same type of female GNC archer like Pharis/Evlana and Dolores 🤔
Tumblr media
Durgo also had a ring that originally was Gough's, as well as using Dragonslayer Greatbow! Both are things associated with Anor Londo (that's where Giant Blacksmith who was gifted ring by Gough upon his retirement is and where Silver Knights were making us all want to smash the controller into the screen), and brother-in-law in question is an Elite Knight, ie both relevant and an outsider for Lanafir! So, since Lanafir otherwise self-isolates from the rest of the world, the brother might be the key to how Durgo even got her hands on these artifacts at first?
At the same time, description says Lanafir was a homeland for both of them 🤔 So the reason the guy has Elite Knight set must be having it passed down by an actual outsider who arrived and (somehow) got to stay in Lanafir! And who had at least one son born already IN Lanafir, apparently.
On the other hand, Durgo was so great at defending Lanafir from aggressors that the word about them travelled even outside, so that's kinda... odd, to just leave like this? Again, both were devoted enough for it to be pointed out in the setting that is stingy for extra lore even about important characters! They might have left into Drangleic due to becoming Undead just like everyone else does, but that would be strangely coincidental to become Undead at the same time if anything?
@val-of-the-north said this: "Maybe it was the brother-in-law getting shunned for his Undeath, which would piss Durgo off. I don't think they would just freely want to remove the most impressive marksman of their time, popular even outside despite the country being super isolated, but her brother-in-law? Who needs him, he can be replaced by any other trained warrior" and I honestly believe this! Like, some pricks underestimated how strong their bond was, just assuming Durgo would keep if not her duty then at least her privileges, and lost a great comrade..
Tumblr media
Guess I don't take the Hawk Ring description as saying Durgo wasn't all that good after all either? First, the ring might increase the range but it would not make one magically be able to handle a huge bow! Durgo was using Dragonslayer Bow (right) in original Dark Souls, and as of now the Twin-Headed Greatbow (left, and it IS legit Lanafir greatbow) AND her hat are both found in Eleum Loyce! She still could use that thing..
Though I guess a touch of an imposter syndrome might add another layer to the character x) Like, it would not really be about "duty" to stay behind in Lanafir, had she just felt like she isn't worth it and it is all blessing of the ring helping her to aim, but on the other hand it makes the point about giving up the privilege of glorified archer for her brother-in-law even stronger. We find the ring in a seemingly random place too, so I imagine her having lost it at some point and getting her Overcoming Insecurity Arc TM by taking no less great shot without the ring and just.. NOT relying on it afterwards. I think she deserves a moment like that XD
Not sure about nature of their found-relation though. Brother-in-law can mean either 1) brother of one's spouse 2) spouse of one's sibling or simply 3) a step-brother, it is kind of broad! Their comradery apparently being important enough to specify, as well as them leaving Lanafir together, feels to me like the person who was the link between them either died or is divorced at this rate!
But, imagine if he was married to her sibling, and yet said sibling didn't really fight for him when he faced the trouble that he did and had to go... so, Durgo went with him, abandoning blood sibling for found one. Real family is about actual bonds and not relation by blood and all that. Alternatively, maybe Durgo was married and the knight was brother of her spouse, but she only saw the "true" face of her spouse upon their reaction to the Undead curse and could not have it! So, again, she felt disgusted and stepped in, and was a better sibling for him than his blood-related one! The drama can go from different ways here, it is something bittersweet about found family in any case.

Idk how to end this post of headcanons tbh, so look at my doodle of her again I suppose fjfjsd
