A Comprehensive List of Pre-21st Century Lesbian Films
There seems to be a lot of interest in older/more niche films with lesbian themes so I've been putting together this list. I'm going to keep adding to it as I find more films so feel free to let me know if I'm missing anything! Enjoy!
Quick disclaimer: Some of these films contain problematic elements such as racism, homophobia, sexism and so on. This list is not an endorsement of all these films, it is only for archival purposes. As I have not seen all these films I cannot provide accurate content warnings, so please do your own research before watching.

Free to Borrow Books about Tintin and Hergé
The only requirement is to make an Internet Archive account. (If you already have an account, check if it was compromised in the recent hack and change your password.) Note that this is in no way a comprehensive list of works or an ideal Tintinology primer, just the books that have been made available on the archive, which also means that it contains everything from picture books to highly academic texts. However, I've marked with a * the books I think are best to start with.
Includes works in both English and French (plus a few in Spanish). Please don't hesitate to ask if you have questions!

Are there, by chance, voice files of the female deputy actually speaking, or a name of the voice actor who recorded the sound effects?
The female Deputy never speaks, but it sounds to me like she has the same voice actor as one of the cultists. You can find a transcript of most of her lines in this document if you search for “CULT_FOLLOWER_FEMALE_05”. One of the Angels might be played by the same person too.
I know Randy Yuen did motion capture for the Deputy in general, and maybe the male Deputy has his voice, but there is no information about who played “CULT_FOLLOWER_FEMALE_05” and the female Deputy…
The actor’s name must be in the credits, however, so probably one of these people:
VOICE TALENT Doug Abrahams Marty Adams Claire Armstrong Ted Atherton Kailea Banka Carolina Bartczak Lawrence Bayne Bruce Blain Jesse Bond Sarah Booth Marc-André Boulanger Wyatt Bowen Paul Braunstein Kimberly D. Brooks Jason Bryden Nicki Burke Mark Camacho Braeden Clarke Lucinda Davis Stacey DePass Bruce Edwards Jake Epstein Jonathan Goad Amber Goldfarb Alain Goulem Rob Greenway Gavin Hammon Ian Hanlin Lauren Jackson Julianne Jain Mara Junot Helen King Jameson Kraemer Gabe Kunda Tristan D. Lalla Erica Lindbeck Erin Mathews James Mathis III Jon McLaren Scott McNeil Cynthia Kaye McWilliams Chimwemwe Miller Julie Nathanson Mayko Nguyen Peter Outerbridge Lindsay Owen-Pierre Giles Panton Christopher Parson Kristen Peace Murry Peeters Simon Lee Phillips Geoffrey Pounsett Claire Rankin David Richmond-Peck Cara Ricketts Kyle Rideout Charlotte Rogers Paula Shaw Jesse Sherman Ivan Sherry Howard Siegel Jonathan Silver Dylan Taylor Jeff Teravainen Brett Watson Jane Wheeler Dan White Scott Whyte Debra Wilson Kim Yarbrough Farid Yazdani
And there is a little more information about who played who on IMDb.
This is all I know for the moment... but I hope it helps :)

Ron Hextall: 37 wins (1986-87)
Pete Peeters: 29 wins (1979-80)
Sergei Bobrovsky: 28 wins (2010-11)
Antero Niittymaki: 23 wins (2005-06)
Pelle Lindbergh: 23 wins (1982-83)
Samuel Ersson: 21 wins (2023-24)
Brian Boucher: 20 wins (1999-2000)
Following in the footsteps of trailblazing rookies and giants alike, Samuel Ersson is living up to his role in net in a huge way, and a historic one. With today's 3-2 win over the Boston Bruins, he has displaced now-color commentator (and once, #33 for the Philadelphia Flyers) Brian Boucher for the title of 6th all-time wins by a Flyers rookie goalie. Ersson has the third-best GAA on this list, 2.66, preceded only by Boucher (1.91) and Bobrovsky (2.59), and the second-lowest total GA, 104. (Boucher, 65 GA, is first.) And also of note: he is tied for the second-most shutouts on this list, with Boucher again coming in first with 4 shutouts.
It's relevant to note that Boucher in his rookie season was the backup to starter John Vanbiesbrouck, who played 50 games to Boucher's 35. (Ersson has played 42 games this season, and only recently reached 50 total GP in the NHL on March 12, 2024, a 3-2 win against the San Jose Sharks.) The rest of the goaltenders who currently sit above Ersson were all essentially starters, though Niittymaki shared the burden pretty evenly with Robert Esche in the 2005-06 season (46 GP to 40 GP). Peeters and Hextall also took their STACKED Flyers squads to the Stanley Cup Finals (Peeters played with some of the most venerated Flyers of all time – Bobby Clarke, Rick MacLeish, Bill Barber; Hextall played behind a filthy 80s team; Tim Kerr, Mark Howe, Rick Tocchet, and the bruise brothers, Dave Brown and Daryl Stanley. Fun fact: Both goalies played with Brian Propp!) Those Flyers had been to the playoffs every season from 1973-1989. Those Flyers won in '74 and '75.
These 2023-24 Flyers came into the season with low expectations, and three years of missing the playoffs. But behind those low expectations is a team that's apparently capable of beating the best teams in the league. Of the 12 wins over top-10 clubs (BOS, VAN 2x, COL, CAR, DAL, FLA 2x, WPG 2x, EDM, TOR) Ersson was the winning goalie for 8 of those. At times, including March 23 v Boston, the team they beat was #1 in the league.
To reach 4th place in all time Flyers rookie goalies, and not just tie with Niittymaki and Lindbergh, Ersson needs three more wins. The Flyers have 11 games left in the season, and the Gauntlet is almost over, with the most recent three games (against the teams that currently sit 2nd, 6th, and 9th in the league) yielding five points in the standings. The future looks bright.
And tomorrow, Florida.

In SM, did u ever mention at what point did Ash and Indigo had the growth hormone? Like, did it happend just a few weeks or months after Delia rescued them from the lab or a bit later?
It happened within the 2 year mark where they met Professor Oak!
Desperate to have her boys okay and healthy, she and professor Oak made so many things for them. Vaccines needed to be administered, but their bodies were still too small to take some of the big boy meds they desperately needed. And the illness they were currently fighting wasn't gonna go away with a vaccine just like that.
So instead- they used the growth hormone to help boost the immune system and allow them a fighting chance. They werent even sure it was gonna work 100% but they had to *try*
The first dose did nothing, but the second one really fought off said sickness and allowed them to administer a few of the vaccines. They went through 3 doses, each of them peetered out within a few months to avoid the harsh affect it could have on the body.

How tall can mimes be? In true form or puppet:0
They can be upwards of 10 feet tall in true form. Those who do get that tall have a hard time keeping themselves balanced because their limb to torso ratio becomes too skewed. There aren't very many of them. Once they start getting past 8 foot it's uncommon to see any that are much taller. TyV is a little above the 8 foot mark, and Maggie is above 9 feet, but other than that everyone sits at 8 or below. Neither of them are what I would consider graceful.
As for puppets, it's harder to pin. Because some are very, very long and narrow, but can stand upright and tower over you, like Twiddle Niddle for instance. Or you get ones like TyV where he's just a mess of squares that can move to occupy different amounts of space.
Generally, though, the tallest tend to start peetering out at around the 30 foot range. Taller if they have less mass, but what really limits them is the reality of gravity. There are probably some mimes out there that cannot physically shift into their puppet form because their mass is too great for the transformation to occur. At least, not on a planet with gravity such as the one the story takes place on. Chickenstab is probably the mime that struggles with shifting the most, because he's very small when it comes to his true form (5 foot 6 inches), but very heavy and very large in puppet (around 32 foot, though nearly half of that height is leg). It's a huge shift of mass and it can be difficult and even painful to pull off. He doesn't do it too often as a result.
It's entirely possible there is no maximum range. If there's a mime that's really Death Star coded, there could very well be be a moon-sized puppet floating out in space somewhere.
#brambleramble#it is not painful to hold after the transformation-- I'd like to add that to cstab's bit#and the shift back to his true form would not be a strain#it is simply the transfer that's stressful for small-to-large true-to-puppet transformations

The officer regarded him cautiously. ‘If you say so, sir. They say Momus has drawn up a wonderful scheme for the reconstruction.’ ‘Oh yes, quite wonderful,’ Karkasy replied, reaching for his bottle and missing. ‘Quite bloody wonderful. An eternal memorial to our victory here…’ ‘Sir?’ ‘It won’t last,’ Karkasy said. ‘No, no. It won’t last. It can’t. Nothing lasts. You look like a wise man to me, friend, what do you think?’ ‘I think you should be on your way, sir,’ the officer said gently. ‘No, no, no… about the city! The city! It won’t last, Terra take Peeter Egon Momus. To the dust, all things return. As far as I can see, this city was pretty wonderful before we came and hobbled it.’ ‘Sir, I think—’ ‘No, you don’t,’ Karkasy said, shaking his head. ‘You don’t, and no one does. This city was supposed to last forever, but we broke it and laid it in tatters. Let Momus rebuild it, it will happen again, and again. The work of man is destined to perish. Momus said he plans a city that will celebrate mankind forever. You know what? I bet that’s what the architects who built this place thought too.’ ‘Sir—’ ‘What man does comes apart, eventually. You mark my words. This city, Momus’s city. The Imperium—’ ‘Sir, you—’ Karkasy rose to his feet, blinking and wagging a finger. ‘Don’t “sir” me! The Imperium will fall asunder as soon as we construct it! You mark my words! It’s as inevitable as—’ Pain abruptly splintered Karkasy’s face, and he fell down, bewildered. He registered a frenzy of shouting and movement, then felt boots and fists slamming into him, over and over again. Enraged by his words, the troopers had fallen upon him. Shouting, the officer tried to pull them off. Bones snapped. Blood spurted from Karkasy’s nostrils. ‘Mark my words!’ he coughed. ‘Nothing we build will last forever! You ask these bloody locals!’ A bootcap cracked into his sternum. Bloody fluid washed into his mouth. ‘Get off him! Get off him!’ the officer was yelling, trying to rein in his provoked and angry men. By the time he managed to do so, Ignace Karkasy was no longer pontificating. Or breathing.

Milk of Lime 'Dozen'
“The fly is marking a mundane and uninvited companion of our human life. Its sudden appearance evokes a strange sense of familiarity while carrying heavy symbolism for our fleeting existence. It is an animal on the fine line between revulsion and beauty. Portraying the black iridescent body of this seemingly profane insect repels and attracts the eye equally and is forgotten with one incidental gesture of our hand.” A huge thank you to everyone who was involved in the making of this show. Jacques Derrida’s Life as an Algerian Jew Revealed in Newly Translated Bio
🇺🇸 Jacques Derrida, born July 15, 1930 in Biar, Algeria, was an influential philosopher, best known for creating deconstruction theory. His life was marked by his identity as an Algerian Jew, which had a profound impact on his thinking and works. In 1942, during the Vichy regime's occupation, he was excluded from school due to his Jewish heritage and faced intense discrimination, shaping his critical view on identity and homogeneity. Derrida also experienced the Algerian War of Independence (1957-1959), and although he opposed French colonialism, he sought a political solution that would allow French Algerians to coexist with native Algerians. In his academic life, he taught at prestigious universities such as the Sorbonne in Paris and the University of California, Irvine. His most famous work, such as "Of Grammatology" (1967), dismantled Western metaphysics and redefined concepts of language, identity, and truth. Beyond his philosophical thought, Derrida was influenced by the political tensions in France and Algeria, which is reflected in his writings on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Derrida passed away on October 8, 2004, leaving a philosophical legacy that continues to influence many disciplines.

Big agreed! I had the same experience with it. I was absolutely riveted by the book... until it kind of peetered out around the 2/3s mark. I felt it didn't stick the landing well, and the whole extended sequence with the western themed social game felt far more divorced from the otherwise very plausible landscape of video games that the book had invented so far.
I really wish that the story had followed Sam and Sadie for another two decades into the future. I would have liked to see them grow up a bit more, mellow out, and finally get to a place where they can reconnect and even look back on their past arguments with good humor.
Also--and this might be a bit more far fetched--I really would have liked to see the book take a gander and extending the narrative into the future (I wouldn't mind them getting a bit speculative about what the games of the 2030s might look like!). We could watch Sam and Sadie age out of the time period when they can really "keep up" with the changing game dev landscape, and carve out new niches for themselves away from the high octane race of industry. (Which we arguably did a bit already with Sadie moving on to do more teaching than development, but they could have taken that even further!)
Finished Tomorrow, and Tomorrow and Tomorrow! A very well-written and -executed book, but somewhere around the 3/5 mark or so I think it started loosing me. Just drowning in it's own sentimentality.

(more…)
