Holidays in Incredibox World

In Incredibox World holidays are celebrated a little differently than in ours. For instance, Polos celebrate Christmas much like the citizens of real-world Japan do, tying little to no religious significance to it and thinking of it as a fun excuse to break out the colorful decorations, have a family feast, and give each other gifts. Polos can also be seen celebrating New Year, Valentine's Day, Independence Day, Halloween, the Day of the Dead, and possibly Thanksgiving.

The biggest holiday season in Incredibox World is from March to May, when the Feasts of the Three Gods, or les Fêtes des Trois Dieux, are celebrated. So much happens during these three months that they seem to blend together into one.

The first Feast, La Fête du Designer is on March 5th and is all about creativity and nature. It is celebrated with art shows, craft fairs, and Blessings of animals and plants. It also focuses on conservation, and Polos can be found volunteering at animal shelters, participating in beach clean-ups, and planting trees.

The second Feast, La Fête de la Voix on April 10th can be summed up in one word: Party! As big as Carnival is to Rio or Mardi Gras to New Orleans, La Voix is to Incredibox World. There are parades, concerts, dances/balls, orgies, and even wine tastings.

The third Feast, La Fête du Constructeur is on May 11th and is very similar to what we in the real world would know as the Scottish Highland Games or a Renaissance Faire. Constructeur is the day to dress up in period clothing, enjoy a meat pie or two, and watch buff athletes best each other in friendly competition. It is encouraged to participate in and learn about these sports yourself!

To reflect how important these months are the school calender is also different. Children do not have Summer vacation, but Spring vacation. Where we(at least me in America that is) would have five months of school, Winter break(1-2 weeks), an additional five months, then 2 months Summer vacation, Polo children have six months of school, Winter break(one month), an additional two months, then a 3-month Spring vacation. My math could be wrong, don't judge me.

Good morning

This is my coffee-deprived post that’s about to attempt to unravel the bullshit that is the Hope and the twins' timeline

Here’s everything we know, pre-retcon:

• Hope is 15 years old in season 5 of The Originals. She mentions to Roman that Lizzie said she blew up an orphanage with her brain. it’s not specified when that was said, but Hope still holds disdain for the twins, obviously. She calls the Old Mill their mean girl lair (eat. anyway)

• Hope was born on May 2, 2012. She was originally meant to be 17 when Legacies started:

• Keep in mind the start of Legacies was in February. 1x12 is set during spring break week, which is in April. So somewhere around the finale of season 1, which stretches towards May, is Hope's 18th birthday. She would be 18 by the time season 2 starts, then.

• The twins were born on March 15, 2014. They have their sixteenth birthday in season 1...obviously. Whole episode centered on this

• This is where I started getting confused because the wiki timeline says that Season 1 of Legacies is in February 2028, but if that were the case the twins would be 14, because they were born in 2014... So I dug some more and people have deduced that:

It's actually 2029? I actually think this whole thing might have been an error because everything I can find says The Originals Season 5 takes place in 2026... But maybe, since Mardi Gras is featured, that means it ended in 2027 in actuality and people just missed that when writing down dates? Idk though, because the timeline wiki says Klaus died in 2026. To me it makes sense it would've probably been March 2027, since that's when Mardi Gras is and Klaus and Elijah's deaths happened not long after that.

So assuming that Season 5 of The Originals ended in 2027 and not 2026, we know there's a 2 year jump to Legacies. So that would've made Hope 17 when Legacies starts, (because she turned 16 after Mardi Gras in The Originals).

So essentially, Hope was 15 when Klaus died, then she turned 16 not long after, then Legacies is set in 2029 where she's at first 17, then turns 18 at the end of that school year/term that we see that season. Her birthday literally falls around when she jumped into Malivore... sad. anyway

If this is true, though, and Legacies is in 2029, they still fucked up. Because the twins would've turned 15, not 16. They essentially have already retconned the twins to be only 1 year younger than Hope. I guess we're supposed to assume the Saltzmans are now born in March 2013 instead of 2014.

So, with all of this in mind, the event 'three years ago' (Lizzie says this in April in Season 1) when Josie burned Hope's room down during spring break and got their trip cancelled—

With their Season 1 retconned ages, Lizzie and Josie would've been 13 and Hope would've been 14 (going on 15 that following May). We know Hope had a crush on Josie when she was 14, but this is where it gets murky. Because the line is "I had a crush on Josie when we were 14", which implies Julie has now, in season 2, retconned all of the girls to be born in the same year instead of Hope being older. So now, if we go by that retcon, when Josie burnt down Hope's room, they were both 13. So Hope's crush would've been after that.

But if you go by the season 1 retcon then Hope's crush could've been closer to (or even on) the week of the note. We will never know

YOU – February is the worst month of the year.

SHIVERS – But it’s an honest month. It’s a month that doesn’t hold up life any better than it really is.

YOU – Look around at the nearby buildings.

SHIVERS – They look like they don’t even have any lights in them during a workday. And something great happened here, but it’s over with.

And that’s the way February is. You can see it in the way people walk and how they look.

PERCEPTION – What’s that umbrella doing in a trash bin?

SHIVERS – This says it all. It has a spring-like or floral pattern on it, but somebody on this February day has abandoned it with its broken shaft, like a desperate flinging off of something that’s not true anymore.

The expedition is getting desperate. People are throwing things aside.

YOU – Look toward downtown.

SHIVERS – This looks like a place where people who are being punished are sent.

EMPATHY – If you notice the way people cross the street in February, it’s different than in the summer. Nobody is tapdancing or breaking into a Rodgers and Hammerstein song. It’s their lunch hour and they’re just barely able to get across the street and hunker over a bowl of chili. Carbohydrates are big this time of year; also lotions, because everybody is itchy and tired and irritable.

SHIVERS – Even the land is tired in February. Most of the birds who can afford it have gone to Florida, and the trees that once cheered us, they’re hard to look at this month. It’s as if there’s some awful truth out there in the trees. It’s hiding in the branches.

YOU – Something that’s been bothering me for a long time is out there. What is it?

INLAND EMPIRE – You can almost see the shape of it, when all the color is gone, and life is stripped down to the starkness of February.

SHIVERS – To try to hide the bleakness of February, man invented Valentine’s Day, and also Mardi Gras. But then February answered back with another holiday: Ash Wednesday. What other month could host a holiday that’s designed to remind us that we’re all gonna die?

That’s February for you. It is bleak, it is honest, and it just tells you the way it really is.

VOLITION – Your father used to have a saying that if you can live through February, you’ll live another year.

GALTx eNews: Farewell, 2024! Hello, 2025

It’s time to say farewell to 2024 and hello to 2025! In 2024, we faced significant, challenging change. We said a farewell of sorts to our founders, John and Susie McQuade, who retired from their leadership roles. We hope to still see them often at our future events. We also said so long to our boarding kennel, successfully transitioning back to a “foster only” organization. 

During these transitions, we never lost sight of our mission and welcomed 79 hounds to the GALT Dallas/Albuquerque family. Nine of these hounds came back for a second placement through no fault of their own and 47 of these hounds came from Australia, including our 100th Aussie, Zara! Our Dallas/Albuquerque adoption teams worked hard finding fabulous forever families and facilitating the adoption of 108 hounds. Currently, we have about two dozen hounds in Dallas/Albuquerque foster homes, three of which are on Injured Reserve (Mick, Nollie, and Ruby) receiving treatment for heartworm. In February, as GALT prepared to celebrate its 23rd birthday, GALT Arizona was born, opening up new channels to adopters further west. Since its inception, GALT Arizona has helped welcome 62 Aussies, working with volunteers in Dallas, New Mexico, and several Arizona adoption groups. GALT Arizona placed 26 of these hounds with forever families in Southern California, Arizona, Nevada, Arkansas, and Hawaii.

With all of our hard work, we also had fun last year! We enjoyed seeing you and showing off our hounds at the North Texas Irish Festival and Great Global Greyhound Walks. We celebrated Mardi Gras in style at GALT’s Krew Of Roo and came together again for our Dia De Los Muertos Celebration at Salum Restaurant! We hope you all enjoyed helping the hounds by shopping with us at our three on-line auctions: our Ready, Set, Spring Auction, GALT’s Fabulous Finds Fall Auction, and our 2024 Holiday For The Hounds Auction. Our annual Holiday Boutique and Santa Photos was a joyful record breaking celebration of the holiday season! Thank you all for coming out to shop and to see Santa Vern!

Thanks also to everyone who supported our on-line fundraisers, including North Texas Giving Day, Giving Tuesday, and our year end finale, the 2024 Holiday Angels Matching Fund! Our 2024 Holiday Angels really helped us celebrate the holidays by pledging $20,000 in matching funds! With your help, we met the challenge raising $22,523, for a total of $42,523, to start 2025 off with a bang!

Hi Kiko! This year has been moving really fast. It's Mardi Gras season for me right now! We are on spring break as a result and I'm trying to get a bunch of work done for my prospectus so I can hopefully be ABD by next month. I'm also currently working through a back injury that I've been managing since 2020- finally got the okay to start lifting light weights again :) And I'm spending my first Valentine's Day in three years single. I'm loving myself more than my ex ever did, so I'm actually really fucking grateful. Got myself chocolates and I'm getting takeout from my favorite restaurant tonight (they have gumbo soup dumplings and matcha cheesecake. It's amazing). A year ago, I thought my whole world was ending. I was in the process of realizing my engagement was falling apart and my grandpa was diagnosed with cancer. I was diagnosed with chronic illnesses and told I'd never not be in pain again. And while there are still rough days, I'm in less pain than I was most of last semester. I'm learning to really treasure my time with just myself and my cat. My parents and I are getting to spend time together just the three of us. And I got a cool shirt that kind of looks like the one you posted about Rinko wearing in Gokudō, soooo I'll be wearing that to my next cosplay convention :) Your stories genuinely helped me survive last year. I am so grateful I stumbled upon this little corner of the internet, and as odd as it may sound, I try to channel Rinko on my bad days. It gets me through. Mardi Gras is WILD but so fun lol

HAPPY SPRING BREAK AND GOOD LUCK ON WORK!!! ABD ALREADY?? Amazing. You’ll do amazing. I just know it. My best friend is in that boat now and it’s crazy to think about. (Especially since she’s literally growing a human inside her, too.)

I’m so, so, SO HAPPY for you that you’re loving yourself and building a better life for yourself separate from your toxic ex. BUYING ALL THE CHOCOLATES. YES. GUMBO IS ALSO INCREDIBLE.

I love that your life is already better than a year ago. I hate that you had to go through so much, but it’s beautiful how you were able to find your strength to get through it all and come out even better! 💕

I’m so grateful and humbled that Another Level and Rinko helped you. They helped me too. They saved me. This little corner helped save me. Realizing that something I created could actually make any kind of difference really did save me from despair because I believed nothing I did was worth anything and would never amount to anything.

Rinko is so fun and beautiful and strong and I’ve realized that many of my favorite of her traits are ones I wished I could have. Her courage specifically. Her courage in the face of so much misery and hardship and choosing to still be the person who loves and cares and is kind. I think that’s one reason people loved her so much. She’s not stupidly or obliviously nice. She sees and hears and feels the pain and anger and bitterness but still chooses to not let them define who she is. She knows that there’s enough hatred in the world without her adding to it. She’s not perfect, she makes mistakes and she gets angry and she sometimes lets those drive her, but at the end of the day, she still doesn’t let them define her entirely. They’re just part of her existing as a human.

Rinko is a beautifully messy human, just like the rest of us. We’re all messy and emotional and imperfect, but without those things, life would be boring and empty.

I started writing this days ago and I had to save it to my drafts because I wanted to dedicate enough attention to it because messages like these really do pull me out of the darkness. Life has been kicking my ass so hard. Everyone around me keeps saying I’m doing so well and handling things in the best way possible, but that in itself is so exhausting. I’m exhausted. To be perfectly honest, I feel so, so fragile. But I know that’s a sign of my strength because I get up every morning and keep going even when it feels too heavy.

Rai, you are a beautiful human who is doing so incredible and you are so strong for working to be better for you. I’m proud of you and I’m proud to consider you a friend 💕

Also, I’ve been working on lil chibi designs for myself because I want to use them to order a custom case for my new earbuds and I will share one of the lil Gojo chibis I’ve been making.

This is lore for my muses built with the help of @hellsgreatestgame. We have carefully worked together to build and expand the Hella-Verse. All these ideas are mine and not to be used by anyone else without permission. A lot of time and effort went into every detail or my lore.

These are the holidays that are celebrated in hell and have various different traditions and activities for these days.

Epiphany Jan. 6. - Start of the new year, warmth and rejoice. This is the date Lucifer fell and is a time of new beginning. The Hellborn celebrate it much like New Years. Apples are a big theme here. The day involves a big feast in honor of Lucifer. Fête du Vodoun Jan. 10 - Vodou celebration similar to Mardi Gras. Imbolc Feb. 1 - Spring coming & St. Brigid day. This day is to celebrate the changes of seasons and the time of year when Hell celebrates blessings. This is a common time for mating and new blessings. This day it is tradition to make various items of protection to gift to those they care about to care, holly, dolls and jewelry is all popular gift. Lupercalia Feb. 15 - hail yourself all about sexual revolution. The days leading up to it is a feast days. The 13 and 14th are basically orgies. Many parties are thrown all over hell to embrace empowerment and pleasure. The 15 a special dinner of figs from caprificus tree and goats milk. The event is ended anointment in the form of a St. Peter's cross being drawn on you by a bishop or Prince of Hell. Feralia Feb. 13-22nd - celebration of death. This is to morn and bring offerings to those long gone but not forgotten. (black beans represent mourning tears and are left at graves. It is thought the dead feel the tears from this act) This is more a holiday for the living but the various acts on earth does effect sinners. Hexennacht April 30 - day of mourning. This is a day to mourn for those fallen in Exterminations or from holy wars. Wearing white is more common on this day than black. Beltane May 1st - Summer day and giving gifts of flowers for rebirth. it is a celebration of life and new chances. Many present flowers to those around them they care for. Many confess their hidden feelings on this day. Unveiling Day July 25 - When the first statue of Baphomet was placed for religious freedom in the U.S. This day is another day that is mostly an Earthly Holiday though over time it spilled into hell. It is about Anarchy and rebellion. The overlords have made this a day for themselves. Lughnasadh Aug. 1 - Harvest & death. This day is about abondance and death. Mostly this date is used to harvest and at the end of the day there is bonfires. This is a time to burn the bad and server ties to the past. Halloween Oct. 31 - This is to celebrate the Hellborn and allows them to travel to Earth to indulge. Offerings are often gifted to the hellborn and they are able to let loose as long as they follow the rules allowed by Samhain who controls this day. Samhain Nov. 1 & 2 - Other known as All Saints Day and All Souls Day, these days are ran by Samhain and act as a conduit between Earth and Hell. Sinners are easily summoned from hell to Earth on this days and on the 2nd, many sinners can break through seals to roam the earth for this day. You must be incredibly powerful for this to happen. Sol Invictus Dec. 25 - Celebration of being unconquered by superstition and consistent in the pursuit and sharing of knowledge. This is an exchanging of gifts still.

The other big Holiday would be for Charlie's birthday. It would be celebrated all throughout hell. It is a celebration of her life and hope. (for my own reasons for now, I h/c Charlie's birthday as June 6th. This can be changed for Charlies I write with but until an official bday is announced I'll be using this date.)

4 and 5 for musing's ask game

4) are there holy days from your ancestors or ancestors cultures you keep?

So my whole ritual calendar has its foundations built on trying to honor the holy days of my ancestors but grounded in the land I currently live in so I wouldn't be able to point to one holiday that's kept from my ancestors' cultures. Instead I think including Mardi Gras in my ritual calendar is the thing that stands out. My ancestors, as far as I know, weren't Catholic so I don't really do the dual faith incorporation of Saints and folk Catholic practices that's popular in traditional witchcraft circles right now but Mardi Gras is the exception because I grew up in south Louisiana. It's a part of my prepagan prewitch culture Im holding on to but I celebrate it with a focus on the animistic nature of the return of spring spirits to drive out the winter spirits. Plus who can turn down a good king cake

Going to see the migration of the sandhill cranes to mark the start of spring. 80% of the world's cranes migrate to this one area and I live close enough to see it. kink at pride is easy af to explain to kids, idk what yall are talking about. “mommy, why is that mostly-naked man wearing leather?” because lots of gay men think it looks nice. “why is that guy on a leash with a mask?” hes playing pretend. “why does she have a whip?” she thinks its fun. you know how you like to play with water guns? its like that but only for grown-ups, and she wont play with anyone who doesnt want to play with her so we’re all totally safe

if your 6yo’s next question is “is that a sex thing?”, thats fucking wild and a completely different problem. for you. not really an “Us Problem” collectively for all pride-goers, tbh. something’s going on there thats hard to call the dominatrix’s fault

I’m cravin’ some misbehavin’

It happens to all of us sooner or later, and for someone like me much more than any should.

We start daydreaming, we are cooped up too long, we get caught in the dead of winter and even though the days start to inch longer, we still feel a longing of sorts to get out and do something and not whatever it is we are doing.

In the days of youth spring break dominates the thinking and you got to be careful because some serious misbehaving happens. Other times such as the dog days of summer we look for cooler weather, a change of colors, someplace to sit and enjoy a sunset over a body of water, or even fall sporting events such as the World Series or the start of football.

So it never matters the time, we are always look to another time to shake up our lives.

And this misbehaving can be so many things, for a person stuck at work too long, a long lunch may be tempting; or the mind can ramp things up and vacation days start to hit the synapsis and dance like sparkles of sunlight bouncing of that aforementioned body of water; for a person on a diet it can be a donut; for a religious person it could simply mean skipping morning prayers; or for a lay religious person it might mean treating yourself to what you gave up for lent three weeks in; and speaking of Lent, Mardi Gras may tempt others; sleeping in maybe what a workaholic needs; and actually doing something different is what drives a desire to misbehave.

Some people think misbehaving is bad and yes it can be, yet also it can be good. Our lives are so full of emails at midnight, morning meetings where we drink too much coffee to get through, taking the kids to the emergency room for a broken bone or high fever in the middle of the night, or the car not starting or a tire is flat when you are running late to get somewhere.

Yet no matter what goes on, life is too short to continually try to make it perfect, to assert our control over events, to rely on others to make us happy or to wake up and feel completely out of control. We need moments of getaway. And as much as we may like a five star hotel, sometimes a simple hike down an old city trail can be a joy, yet whatever it is, it needs to be done.

There is the saying all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy and it is so true. Sure sometimes a person’s circumstances require that said person has to work all the time and that is sad, truly sad. Somehow we need to treat each other with respect and compassion that a person should not fall into such a dreary or dreadful life. Life on earth is a joy and everyone should have the opportunity to experience it. We are given a few fleeting moments on a beautiful planet so no one should be sentenced to a painful life. Unfortunately it does happen so always be open to share with someone your time, thoughts, help or resources to give someone “a break”.

So go misbehave every once and awhile yet just remember, if all work makes Jack a dull boy, then all play makes Jack one heck of a menace. We do have our responsibilities. Do we want to feel accomplished and left out though? Learn to mix things up, find new friends, new experiences, see new places and especially learn to smile spontaneously. So go crave to misbehave today (or tomorrow).

Life doesn’t always have to be earth shattering.
