Mother Earth Day - Selfridges Window Display
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This Selfridges window display is made in consideration of International Mother Earth Day. Created to express appreciation and reminisce in the beauty of Mother Earth and remind the public of how they could/ are contributing to keep the world healthy. Mother Earth Day is on Tuesday 22nd April 2025. This year is their 55th anniversary of Earth Day celebrating with the theme: OUR POWER, OUR PLANET. Promoting to triple renewable energy sources by 2030. Stated in my report of Selfridges they market themselves as wanting to create a 'sustainable future for everyone.' What better to do than show that with a window display. Clear and direct. Making public announcements of any funds and donations they make to help the cause - as to anyone who reads their motives they are not practising what they preach. Anthropologie, a lifestyle brand similar to Selfridges, have done several Mother Earth Day window displays.

International Mother Earth Day - Tuesday 22nd April 2025
Tumblr media
This year's theme is 'OUR POWER, OUR PLANET' Their aim for this year is to promote renewable energy sources and aim to triple the amount of renewable energy sources by 2030.

Mother Earth is formely known through Greek Mythology as Gaia who was the goddess of the Earth and mother to all forms of life. She was 'birthed' from Chaos and sits among and above most Gods in Greek Mythology. She has also been represented in many other ways such as in the movie Moana.

PUNKANDYO: The Best Brand You Don't Know Of
Tumblr media
Punkandyo is a brand formulated by Etienne Gagne - Vans Skateboarding rider and Anthony Asfour - graphic designer.
I have been following punkandyo for a little over 2 years now and have picked up a few products from them. 2 hats, underwear and socks which largely isn't a lot. However my recent pick up on Christmas Day was astounding.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
On Christmas Day they posted an Instagram story offering free 3 pairs of socks or 3 boxers if you use this code. Simply for an independent, fairly underground brand to do this was admirable. When the products arrived I was lost for words. The amount of dedication and detail was unlike anything I have ever bought. As seen in my photos Punkandyo didn't miss a step in finalising the product. Even for something as simple as socks.

The 3 pairs of Boxers came in a custom bag embellished with the brand and came along with some stickers as they usually do. I have more stickers than I could ever need.

These are the previous 2 other pickups from Punkandyo. The denim floppy hat and the Rat Pack hat.

Barbie®: The Exhibition at the Design Museum
Tumblr media
The Barbie Exhibition; at The Design Museum in London, showcased the conception of Barbie from: early figures, drawings, evolution of the logo and included vintage sets of clothes, cars and villas.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The Exhibition was fairly linear yer free flowing and relaxed. Some highlights for me included their display of figures in the second room.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The third room was vast and displayed the majority of merchandise. As someone who watched the Barbie Movie and researched about all the references made. I was especially stunned by the array of quality and quantity that Barbie has produced over the years. Ever evolving to match social standards and trends within fashion, beauty and even politics. Like when Barbie was running for office in her show.
Tumblr media
Overall the Barbie Exhibition was amazing and a must see show if you are in London. The show ends on the 23rd February 2025.

WILL BLOGGING BE SEEING A RETURN IN THE FORESEEABLE FUTURE?
Tumblr media
The Best Letterboxd Account Out There - Charli XCX has here account leaked.
Charli XCX, renowned singer songwriter, famed particularly from her recent album 'brat' in Summer 2024; who had everyone partying to Club Classics, recently had her letterboxd account leaked. Reviews ranged from short, humorous reactions and passionate dialogue of why she liked the movie.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Although these reviews are very funny to read, and people have been going crazy over them. I admit I might have been... a tad. Will we be seeing a return to people blogging. Undoubtedly, Charli has garnered an immense amount of passionate stans over the past year and decade who admire her a lot. With admiration comes influence whether intended or not. Will we be seeing people go back to posting statements again like Twitter, or for you knobs X, like back in 2011 or 2012. Posting stuff like:
"I'm not a competitive eater unless someone orders French fries 'for the table'."
Tumblr media
If Charli has this much clout to where she can influence a whole new generation to start blogging again I think there can only be good results from it. Especially in this Dead Internet epidemic we are currently experiencing in real time. AI bot accounts taking over platforms such as Instagram.

Chester Markets Shop Window Displays
Chester is now considered to be one of few cities up North in the UK to still have a somewhat lively town centre and active high street. Here's what I found and interested me.
Tumblr media
Lush had many carboard cutouts and shelving displaying their products in a festive fashion. Vinyl stickers on windows were very popular among hand painted windows presumably by local artists. Many shops seemingly curated a lot of their dispays for the older demographic, that usually walk and visit the city centre often. The displays were simple and direct, focusing on presenting the product than setting. Businesses in the centre adhered to keeping the atmosphere of a festive warmth and traditional approach to Christmas. Generally, I found the displays charming and comforting, gravitating me to walk in the shops which was layed out predominantly free form or grid. Which perfectly matches how the windows were displayed.

Harrods "The Workshop of Wonders"
Partnership with Italian luxury brand Loro Piana
Harrods, once again, showcases their enthusiasm and reputation of flaunting high quality products and exclusivity. Their 2024 Christmas Window Display adjourns with subtlety as Loro Piana demonstrates both their ideals in refinement over the course of their lifespans so far. Embroided panels; discussing Loro Piana's journey of accumulating and manufacturing unique one-of-one pieces of naturally hued wool, is overblown by the astonishing display of bags on a conveyor belt. The nuance of this window display is commendable in its display of: warmth in clothes and products, commitment to sophistication, heritage and abiding to simultaneously expressing the joys of Christmas and advertising not only products but a notable luxury company, Loro Piana.
This is a MUST see window display if you are in London today or tomorrow!
