As a jewelry maker I love synthetic gemstones just as much as I love natural gemstones. I will do my best to identify which is which for those who look at my stuffs, but that is just a courtesy as opposed to an expression of my own preferences or opinions. Any bismuth you see is likely man-made. My dedication to pointing this type of thing out is due to the fact that certain unscrupulous marketing practices would have you believe that what they sell is something other than what they sell in order to get you to buy it. I believe in the principle of informed decision-making, and it would be unethical to misinform your customers, especially when you stand to gain from doing so. So I will absolutely die on the hill that yeah, these gemstones are synthetic. But if the hill is made of these stones, what a nice hill indeed <3

I swear to god one of these days were going to see a video of Amaury Guichon and he's going to be making some wings and they are going to look dope as hell, the detail of each feather will be breathtaking, he'll spray paint them to perfection, but as the video goes on, he's not building any sort of winged creature, just the wings. And then there's a human-sized harness (also made of chocolate, somehow, he can do it). And he's attaching the wings to the harness. And he's putting the harness on and he demonstrates how he can flap the wings. And then he'll be off. Out the window and up and up and up. And we'll be looking at the livestream (it's a livestream now) and we'll scream "No, Amaury, the sun! It's going to melt the wings!". But he knows this already. And he is free.

It's always so weird to come down from the biology heavens to see what the average person believes about animals, plants, ecosystems, just the world around them. I don't even mean things that one simply doesn't know because they've never been told or things that are confusing, I'm talking about people who genuinely do not see insects as animals. What are you saying. Every time I see a crawling or fluttering little guy I know that little guy has motivations and drive to fulfill those motivations. There are gears turning in their head! They are perceiving this world and they are drawing conclusions, they are conscious. And yet it's still a whole thing if various bugs of the world feel pain or if they are simply Instinct Machines that are Not Truly Aware of Anything At All????? Help!!!!!! How can you look at a little guy and think he is just the macroscopic animal version of a virus
