Republicans would rather rationalize away Herschel Walker's alleged abortion scandal than ever admit they backed the wrong candidate, a GOP strategist said of the Georgian's too-late-to-bail-out predicament.
"Conservatives will look at it as he's still the lesser evil on policy," the GOP fundraiser, who requested anonymity to speak freely about the fast-approaching midterm elections, told Insider of race between the embattled Trump-backed candidate and incumbent Democratic Sen. Raphael Warnock.
The GOP fundraiser rightly predicted that MAGA supporters would rally around Walker by arguing that if he gave an ex-girlfriend money in 2009 to cover a single abortion that's still better than allowing Warnock to divert taxpayer dollars to funding all abortions.
"They'll say that Warnock wants to take YOUR money to pay for abortions … which makes him a bad person and unfit for the Senate," the GOP fundraiser said, adding that the political shamelessness is "just a continuation of Trump."
Less than two hours later conservative commentator Dana Loesch advanced that very narrative.
Tumblr media
"IF true, Walker paid for one broad's abortion compared to Warnock who wants your tax dollars to pay for EVERY broad's abortion-as-birth control with no limitations," the former NRA spokeswoman wrote online, adding, "This isn't a difficult choice and conservatives shouldn't look to the left to validate their vote."
Other Walker supporters skirted the abortion issue altogether, casting blame anywhere else.
"Herschel Walker has denied these allegations in the strongest possible terms and we stand firmly alongside him," Mallory Carroll, a spokeswoman for Women Speak Out PAC, a super PAC associated with anti-abortion group Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America, said in a statement. Carroll added that her organization would continue campaigning against the "extremism of Sen. Warnock and Stacey Abrams," the latter being the Democratic gubernatorial nominee challenging incumbent Republican Gov. Brian Kemp this fall.
The Georgia Republican Party billed the allegations against Walker as political theater.
"Democrats will do anything to distract from their own abysmal record of rising inflation, an open border and a decimated middle class," Georgia GOP spokeswoman Danielle Repass told Insider.
'WALKER CAN'T SAY ANYTHING ABOUT ABORTION NOW'
Andra Gillespie, an associate professor of political science at Emory University, said the Supreme Court's reversal of Roe v. Wade this summer opened up new lines of attack for Georgia candidates.
Gillespie said Walker's campaign had leaned into painting Warnock as a hypocrite for using his position as a minister to preach abortion rights from the pulpit. But she suspects that strategy is done for.
"Walker can't say anything about abortion now," Gillespie told Insider, adding that she fully expects to see Christian Walker's scathing social media posts denouncing his father dominating the airwaves through election day.
"I'm almost certain if there will be some type of digital ads that will include Christian Walker's Twitter rants," Gillespie said.
The Senate race stands out not only because of Walker's sky-high name recognition as a former University of Georgia football standout who won the Heisman Trophy in 1982, but also due to the implications of a GOP win in the state — which in recent cycles has been more receptive to backing statewide Democratic candidates.
Walker's opponent, Democratic Sen. Raphael Warnock, is running for his first full term in office after winning a Senate runoff election last year to fill the remaining term of GOP Sen. Johnny Isakson, who stepped down in 2019.
In capturing the Senate seat last year, Warnock defeated then-GOP Sen. Kelly Loeffler, who had been appointed by Kemp and was seen as candidate who could appeal to both Republican women in the Atlanta suburbs and conservatives in the more rural parts of the state.
But Democrats had compelling candidates in Warnock — the senior pastor of Atlanta's historic Ebenezer Baptist Church — and former investigative journalist and 2018 House candidate Jon Ossoff.
Buoyed by President Joe Biden's victory in the state over Trump in 2020 — the party continued to use their robust turnout operation in the 2021 runoffs, allowing Warnock to unseat Loeffler and fueling Ossoff's win over then-GOP Sen. David Perdue.
Republicans, stung by the losses, are eager to regain their dominance in the state, and a Georgia Senate win represents one of their best ways to get there.

Most popular gender neutral names
Every year, the SSA, in the US, publishes data on baby names. The names are divided into 'male' and 'female', and people can look up to see how many male and female babies were given a certain name in a given year.
This is a list of the most popular gender neutral names - the names given to most babies within the criteria of 45/55 - meaning the % of either male or female babies with that name must fall between 45 and 55 % of the total.
There are plans to expand the criteria to 30/70 % in order to look at names that are more popular but that are also still fairly gender neutral.
Some of the names are only given to a few babies in a year. Using data from SSA, we apply a cut-off of at least 10 female and male babies per year, to make the data more meaningful.
In another post, here, we explore the gender neutral names that are closest to 50/50.
Note: The years are not the whole decades, they are only for that particular year.
The lists are read as follows: Name (female %, male %), number of babies in total being given that name.
We exclude "Baby", "Notnamed", "Unknown", and "Infant", as those are assumed to be placeholder names.
The most popular gender neutral names in the USA.

IM SUPER LATE BUT OMG!!!! MONTY IN THE FLESH!!! ON THE SCREEN!!!!!!!! I was hoping at the beginning of the season that they would finally put him on screen at some point but I didn’t think it would be now. I’m impressed that they even managed to work Flambeau into this one. They really pulled out all the stops for episode 100 huh.

We focus on traditional and folkloric witchcraft, animism, chaos magic, secular witchcraft, magical herbs and plants, queer witchcraft, tarot & Divination, witchcraft & magic in politics, history, culture, and social & racial justice,  and aspects of non-Wiccan forms of witchcraft, magic, and paganism.
Pre-Covid the Portland Button Works primarily made custom pinback button. Selling zines and books was secondary and more of a hobby for me to share things I’d like to read. Slibbs Writers-Christopher Waild
(Note: while doing this, I realized....he's kinda the "implied Slibbs" writer. Like, we don't actually see a lot of outright Slibbs scenes, but what happens in his eps, implies a deeper connection than what the scene gives us. Does that make sense?)
Season 15
Double Down (15x10) dir. Alrick Riley
At the beginning of the episode, Jack and Nick are escorting a Senator in Afghanistan. Gibbs calls Jack and after Jack is telling him how it is going he says, "not a social call". Umm, do they do that? Call each other just to chat?
We also get the first glimpse of backstory about the Wingos and hints of what happened to Jack. At the end, we are probably cheated out of a Slibbs hug, when they show up at Gibbs' place after coming home.
Tumblr media
Death From Above (15x18) dir. Rocky Carroll
NCIS is put on lockdown and Jack is stuck in MTAC with Vance and McGee. Maybe not a great setup but when they are finally able to get out.....the worry she has for Gibbs.....well, this is the episode right after One Man's Trash. They've just had their first steak night and he's shared a part of his dad's past with her. Make no mistake. She cares for him.
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
Fallout (15x23)
Cowritten with David North (they did the teleplay together. Story by Waild.)
Directed by Terrence O'Hara
Kasie is back as a temp to get the team moving again after Abby leaves. This is the first episode involving Gibbs friend, Phil Brooks. Jack has a nice scene with McGee about his books (she's read them) and asks him why he became an agent. But there's a nice shot at the end. Slibbs enter the lab together. Where have they been?
Tumblr media
Season 16
Third Wheel (16x04) dir. James Whitmore Jr.
Gibbs and Jack are separated the entire time but the episode does not disappoint. Phil is back and he has crashed Gibbs' cabin time. Then Fornell shows up and is all "I'm sorry who are you? Gibbs' best friend? Who knew Gibbs had more than one friend?" Oh and as if that wasn't enough.....hello Izzy!
Tumblr media
Ellie to Jack: She would be fun on karaoke night.
I'm sorry. Karaoke??????? We need to see THAT scene. Now.
Toil and Trouble (16x11) dir. Leslie Libman
Slibbs interrogating that scientist. (Remember, he coughs and Jack is all "oh god") At first, we don't see a lot of them actually working together but we know they are by the texts to Vance. When we do see it, they play off each other very well.
Judge Jury... (16x21) dir. James Whitmore Jr.
The case with the poisoned candy. Jack takes the stand as an expert witness and Gibbs shows a hint of pride while watching her.
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
...and Executioner (16x22)
Cowritten with David J. North
Directed by Terrence O'Hara
First, while Jack is talking to Leon about Mallory: The heart wants what the heart wants. 😍 Then.....
Great scene between Sliibbs in Observation. Leon is about to question Mallory, after she has turned herself in for shooting Gibbs' truck at the diner.
Jack: After everything that's happened with Leon, Clark,..........you (she reaches out for his hand out of camera range)....this woman turns herself in? Why?
Gibbs: Hopin' to find out.
Jack: Do you think it's wise to send a jilted lover in there alone?
Gibbs: It's not my call.
Season 17
Someone Else's Shoes (17x04) dir. Michael Zinberg
Slibbs try to solve a case involving homeless vets while also trying to help a marine who is more focused on learning the stories other vets have to tell.
At one point, Jack could use a second pair of eyes and enlists Gibbs help in looking at Barney's file. So they go to her office where she let's him use her glasses. 😍😍😍
They later stay overnight at the bus depot where the homeless live, taking watch. And then work together to bring down the murderer.
Tumblr media
IRL (17x09) dir. Terrence O'Hara
Gibbs is concerned that he isn't helping Phineas. He goes to Jack for help.
"I think you won first place in the science fair."
"You're a good man, Gibbs."
Tumblr media
She later gets all wifey on Gibbs when she finds out that Phineas' mom said "no screens" so he gave the kid the biggest screen at NCIS. 🥰
Ephemera (17x16) dir. Diana Valentine
Not a hugely Slibbsy episode. Heck, Jimmy gets a hug out of Gibbs, not Jack. "So warm."
In the flashbacks where they assume the identities of the people involved in their case, Slibbs assume the lives of a brother and sister. Seriously? But the scene at the end with Arturo is beautiful to watch. Maria Bello is amazing.

Official promo pictures and episode summaries for the first 5 episodes of Father Brown Series 8, airing on BBC in January 2020. Summaries under  the cut for length.
The Celestial Choir. (6 Jan 2020)
A mysterious saboteur tries to stop Kembleford from winning the Three Counties Choir competition.
Canon Fox (Roger May) is amazed when the Kembleford Choristers, led by Mrs McCarthy (Sorcha Cusack), make it through to the final of the Three Counties Choir Competition at Worcester Cathedral.
On the day of the final one of the Choristers falls ill, and a reluctant Lady Felicia (Nancy Carroll) agrees to step in so the team can participate. On the way to the cathedral, their omnibus suddenly breaks down and Bunty (Emer Kenny) reveals that the fuel line has been cut.
Suspicion immediately falls on rival choir the Hambleston Harmonisers, led by Lawrence Ashton (Hugh Sachs). The Choristers, also comprised of Sergeant Goodfellow (John Burton), Audrey Belchant (Daisy Maywood), Wesley Summerton (Ashley Campbell), and Nicholas and Barbara Curtley (Joseph Prowen and Sarah Ingram), must race against time to get to Worcester before they are disqualified, all while Father Brown (Mark Williams) works to discover who is out to get them.
The Queen Bee (7 Jan 2020) Father Brown investigates the mysterious death of a beekeeper.
After a freak accident, eccentric beekeeper Beattie May decides that her adoptive son Shambu must be properly provided for, in case anything unexpected should happen to her. Beattie invites her solicitor Ronnie Grunion (Nigel Planer) to make an addition to her will, consisting of a puzzle that will lead Shambu to a valuable jewel.
However, before Ronnie can amend the will, Beattie is found murdered in her bed. Later, at the reading of her will, with Father Brown, Mrs McCarthy (Sorcha Cusack), Bunty and former neighbours Miss Slither and her niece Hannah (Grace Molony) all in attendance, Shambu is arrested for Beattie’s murder by Inspector Mallory (Jack Deam).
Father Brown must work to discover whether Shambu really is guilty of his mother’s murder, or whether someone else is responsible.
The Scales Of Justice (8 Jan 2020)
Father Brown must race to save Bunty from the hangman’s noose when she is tried for murder. Things look bad for Bunty when she is charged with the murder of Teddy Neville-Crowley (Ziggy Heath) following an altercation at a Great Gatsby-themed party on his estate.
Mrs McCarthy is dumbfounded, but when Father Brown (Mark Williams) goes about trying to establish the facts he is met with resistance from Inspector Mallory (Jack Deam).
Father Brown questions the other attendees at the party, including Teddy’s brother Max (Rob Callender), and Max’s wife Margot (Alice Bailey Johnson), but draws a blank. When the case goes to trial, Bunty’s fate lies in the hands of her defence barrister Bertie Quinton (Robert Portal) - but following a poor performance from Bertie, it looks like the jury and Judge Pickering (Julian Forsyth) may send Bunty to the gallows.
Can Father Brown find the evidence to prove Bunty’s innocence before it’s too late?
The Wisdom Of The Fool (9 Jan 2020)
Murder is no laughing matter when Father Brown visits a jesters’ convention. When a convention of jesters, including Sir Toby and Edith Dobson (Neil Pearson and Emily Joyce), son Fred (Alexander Morris) and Doodle (Natey Jones), arrive in Kembleford to entertain the crowds, the merriment is brought to a halt when Dr Belmont (Annabel Cleare) collapses and dies in front of a crowd of shocked spectators. Father Brown (Mark Williams) suspects foul play and begins to investigate the circumstances of her death, along with Bunty (Emer Kenny). Meanwhile another jester, Mr Feste (Paul Copley), has taken a shine to Mrs McCarthy (Sorcha Cusack) but is stopped in his tracks when confronted by Father Brown and Bunty. He admits to killing Dr Belmont and begs Father Brown to let him confess his sins.
However, he is murdered in the confessional before he can. Did Mr Feste act alone when he killed Dr Bemont, and who in turn killed him? Father Brown must find out.
The Folly Of Jephthah (10 Jan 2020)
Flambeau seeks Father Brown’s help to get rid of an unwanted rival. After a mysterious thief keeps stealing valuable treasures from under his nose, Hercule Flambeau (John Light) visits Kembleford to see if Father Brown (Mark Williams) can help him to eliminate the competition. Flambeau reveals that his new rival is in fact his estranged daughter Marianne Delacroix (Gina Bramhill). Seeing the opportunity to save a soul, Father Brown (Mark Williams) agrees to help Flambeau find her. The two set a trap at Gloucester Museum, but Marianne later surprises them by turning up at the presbytery. Marianne proposes her and her father compete to determine who is the better thief, with the loser handing over all their stolen goods and giving up their life of crime.
The two agree, and the contest is on. Can Father Brown help to convince either of these master criminals to keep their word and turn their back on crime for good?
