Metro RP2350 take 5 🔄🌟🤞
Sometimes mistakes are made in prototyping; that's why they're prototypes. The error in rev D was funny: while making the QFN80 footprint, the pins got placed clockwise rather than widdershins. Not surprisingly, that board didn't come up at all, so here's a full rip-up and reroute, with the correct pinout this time! Fingers crossed. Hopefully, this is the final revision, and we can move on to other RP2350 boards we have cooking.

In this episode, Christina talks with Star Ngei, a maker/hacker who helps raise awareness of Global South technology and innovation through the NGO Global Innovation Gathering (GIG), which hosts a network of makers and makerspaces throughout the Global South. Although it’s hard to generalize across a space as culturally, politically, economically, and geographically diverse as the Global South, Christina and Star discuss how the access of people in the Global South to tech is limited compared to that of people in the Global North and so they have a more creative, non-linear approach to technology. They’re far more open to modifying a piece (or pieces) of technology to fit their specific needs, rather than just using it as it comes out of the box and merely specifically for its intended use. Christina and Star also talk about climate change and what the Global North can learn from the Global South in terms of dealing with it. Lastly, they talk about building community and how, if you’re interested in working to decrease global inequality by helping people in the Global South, the best place to start is by striking up a relationship with a community there first. Unless you want your efforts to be a waste of your time, their time, and resources, don’t just give a group of people in the Global South what you think they need, find out what they think they would find useful.

Leaving Facebook Behind: Exploring New Platforms to Connect with Fellow DIY Enthusiasts and Filmmakers
Hello everyone! 🌟
After spending years on Facebook, I’ve decided it’s time for a change. The platform no longer feels like the right fit for me, so I’m stepping away to explore new spaces where I can connect with like-minded people who share my passion for DIY culture and filmmaking. It’s a bit of a leap, but I’m excited to see what lies ahead.
Why am I leaving Facebook, you might ask? Over time, I’ve noticed that it’s become more difficult to find people who are genuinely interested in the creative things I care about. With so much noise from ads, news, and personal posts, it’s been hard to foster meaningful conversations around DIY projects and filmmaking. I crave a space where I can meet others who are equally passionate about creating something from scratch—whether it’s building cool stuff with our hands or telling stories through the lens of a camera.
That’s why I’m searching for new platforms that foster these interests. I’m eager to find others who are into the DIY culture, filmmaking, and creativity at large. I want to meet people who are willing to collaborate, share ideas, and bring something unique to the table. Maybe, together, we can even start a global filmmaking project! 🌍🎬
Imagine this: a film made by passionate people from all corners of the world, each contributing their own skills, perspectives, and creativity to tell a story that transcends borders. That’s the dream I’m chasing—building a community of creators who share the same vision, no matter where we are.
If you're into DIY culture, filmmaking, or just love to create, I’d love to connect!
Let’s connect, share ideas, and dream big. Who knows? Maybe our next project will be a diy-project we make together, from scratch, all over the globe.
Stay tuned for updates on my journey. 🚀

Haha! I finally found a place that, theoretically, let's an artist make use of their 3d printers when ever they want! That means that CAD class can be put to use for the things that require precision! Precision, that my astigmatism makes hard to accomplish technical items in a timely manner by hand carving wax. I will hopefully be able to show an example of something made by hand carving wax vs CAD by next week regardless of how my walk through of the makers place goes.

Giving Tuesday – 2025 Open Hardware Summit #GivingTuesday 📅🛠️🌍
In 2025, the Open Hardware summit will be in Edinburgh, Scotland, May 30-31. The Open Source Hardware Association (OSHWA) hosts the summit. OSHWA is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt public charity that certifies open-source hardware designs and shares data about the growing community.
Here is their pitch for the 2025 Open Hardware Summit, where Adafruit is a sponsor again!
"The Open Hardware Summit is the only conference dedicated to discussing Open Source Hardware. Open Source Hardware is a community-focused method of creating where we share knowledge openly, welcome collaboration, and frequently create together. The Open Hardware summit is a place to compare notes, see the state of the art, and spend some time talking about where the open source movement is headed. The summit often contains workshops, talks, connections, mentorship.
If you haven't yet, please consider sponsoring the 2025 Open Hardware Summit again this year: https://2025.oshwa.org/sponsor/. We are headed to Scotland this year and hope you'll join us. Your funding always allows us to put on a stellar event that people rave about. There are new levels and added headline sponsor levels this year.
Your support enables OSHWA to continue its mission of supporting the open source hardware community. You can become a member or donate financially to help keep their programs going."

Calgary Maker Faire, May 4th, 2024. Eight hours in this thing, as the wandering Protospace booth mascot. Kept as hydrated as I could, but still net lost about 700 grams. And that was with a really good poutine food truck outside.
(I considered burning the base layer shirt I had under the flight suit jacket which was under the armour vest which was under a wool cape.)
