“Genya—!” Tanjiro whispered fiercely, wiggling against Genya’s arms around him. “Genya, wake up!” Genya groaned and peeked one eye open.

“Huh?”

“I think Giyuu-san is awake!” Tanjiro said, wiggling harder. Genya unraveled his arms from around him and picked his head up to listen to the muffled voices of their brothers. Tanjiro was already throwing his legs over the side of the cot.

“Um, Tanjiro, I think maybe—”

“Giyuu-san!” Tanjiro practically tripped over himself on his way out of the adjacent room and back to the foyer. Genya threw off his blankets and followed. Both stopped dead once they made it to the doorway.

Sanemi had pulled back and looked into Giyuu’s face, still holding on tightly to both sides of it.

“He’s okay. Everybody’s okay.” Sanemi whispered. He could feel the eyes of the meager few Kakushi on them, could feel the boys at their backs. He didn’t care. His previous plan of patiently listening to what it was Giyuu had had to say, like he should have known would happen to all his plans from here on out, was no match for the pain, the bliss of seeing Giyuu’s beautiful blue eyes open and alive again.

Giyuu blinked and tried to sit up, recalling Sanemi leaning down over him at the battlefield, drawing him up into his lap. Now, Sanemi’s eyes were wide, tearful, wild, as beautiful as they were then. Giyuu opened his mouth. In case I die, I need to tell you…

some angel lore because they make me happy : )

i've considered having their form be based on some sort of angel hierarchy - it's been a lot of fun reading how they've been classified in different religions - but i'm not sure if i want to use that after all! for now, they're all equal.

the angels quickly realized that most creatures would fear them less if they looked similar to them. while the results weren't perfect - the "reshaped" angel would still be made of the same substance and glow - it was enough for them to approach most animals. humans were an interesting case. while many required the same treatment as other creatures, some didn't seem to mind their real form - and some were even interested in seeing it.
