Lt. Abubakar's sense of style draws heavily from Aisha Babayo Shehu's brand, Babayo, which embroiders Fulani cultural narratives onto modern designs. Her clothes are loose and comfortable. Triangles are often incorporated to reflect her Vulcan heritage. Kadiatou wears cowrie shell hair charms and bracelets.

UTUT LI'PELE NAKO

Ens. Nako's sense of style consists of revealing, form-fitting tops and flowy, feminine accessories. She wears natural materials from her home planet, Oistir, such as woven algae, ocean crop, and carved seashell. Nako's school is identified culturally by their simply weaved beige crop and Utut recreates the practice for her own clothes.

MAN I'm seriously so sad about season 2. Bc I wish act 2 had the same emotional impact on me as it appears to have on so many others. But rn I'm just somewhere between unable to care and actively annoyed by some of those writing decisions. Seriously the more I think about it the less I like it.

Ricardo is a body guard and is bffs with Marlo. Ricardo's current job is watching after a celebrity's daughter who the public doesn't know even exists. She's just a teenage girl vibing with her mom and getting texts and calls from her dad (who loves her a whole lot and keeps her out of the spotlight very purposefully) and has this bodyguard and his weird friend. Marlo is just vibing with his best friend.

(Also Marlo would absolutely laugh if he heard Ricardo say "someone called me eye candy and it wasn't you and now I think you should call me that")

love an ending that is 'happy' in that a desirable outcome is produced, but made complicated by the fact that the protagonist has given up something integral to themself in order to make it so. it's sort of uncool in some circles to admit you LIKE when characters give up something really cool for something pretty basic, but it's all about context and quality of storytelling, right? that sort of conviction - this is a part of my personality that i am permanently renouncing access to, and it's my choice, and i'm going to miss it, but i'm not going to regret it - that's compelling. ending in which a character who loves nothing more than the rush of finding the answer to a question is handed, one day, a puzzle they just don't want to solve. and that part of their life is over, but it's not a bad thing. maybe the answer doesn't need to be known. maybe not knowing it opens you up to a creative mindset you never had before. character who gains some kind of special power chooses to give it up not because they no longer love the ability, not because it hasn't improved their life, but because this thing they love comes with costs, is getting in the way of a life someone they love or loved and lost would want them to live. i'm glad it turned out this way. i miss the missing thing with all my heart. i would let go of it again if i was asked to choose.

I'll go first, I don't mind saying when I was wrong. True, in the past I may have suggested that the vast majority of female characters in One Piece come off as ever so slightly, "leaning into sexist tropes with unadulterated joy; it's the misogynistic tropes equivalent of a child running naked through a grocery store. It's right there, everyone sees it, yet people shut up and continue shopping in part because, well, these days you just expect most people to cover that junk! What would you even say? And if you DO speak up and call out the inappropriate, be prepared for blank stares and tantrums; but THEY don't mind! THEY don't think it's wrong! You're just being mean!"

However, I see now that I rushed to judgement and the reality of the situation is far more nuanced. With that in mind, I was just wondering if someone could help answer some of the questions I have.

Like: Why does Oda believe that it's illegal for (maternal) female characters to survive other character's backstories?

More importantly, why hasn't someone just reached out to explain the misconception!? It can't be that difficult. If nothing else, just have a lawyer or judge or other expert in censorship on hand. Or is the one of those cases where back in highschool his friends made something up and then kept pretending it was real to see if he'd believe you and not only did he fall for it, it took over 20 years before he learned that, what, no that's not illegal. That would be crazy if it were an actual law. Cause you know, after the first 10 years I think yeah you have to just lean into it. Pretend it's a creative decision on your part and definitely not because you were terrified of being sentenced to a slow and humiliating public death.

Just to be clear that's definitely what's up, right? I mean, I'm struggling to think of another reason....able excuse why a story that I really enjoy keeps playing the same old sexist tropes cards again and again to the point of absurdity. It would just help if I had a valid excus- explanation. I almost mistyped the word explanation.

so today my mom decided to take us on a hike, and my brother and I were walking much farther ahead talking about whatever, and I learned something which I continue to be shocked at and now must tell you.

I’m thinking about this idea of Kaylee and Caleb’s mom having prophetic visions of everything that would happen to her children whilst being unable to stop it despite her best efforts. When Harum Scarum first arrived on her wedding day, she made sure to find Silas and Eliza and apologize for everything that would happen, despite knowing the timeline was already locked. Despite everything, she tried her best to care for Caleb and keep him away from Travis’ influence until it was her time to go. She dies clutching her doomed daughter close to her chest; the last vision she sees is the three children in another life bound together not by a curse, but a pact of love and unwavering faith in each other.

i dont have much to add other than GOSH IS THIS IDEA SO FUCKED AND SAD..... the whole concept of like... locked in timelines and stuff is so interesting and cool. especially in this case, knowing how like. unavoidable these specific characters' fates are in game. ESPECIALLY silas eliza and kaylee's

the "doomed daughter" line especially gets me ): cant even imagine what it mustve been like to like..... live your life knowing NOTHING you do would affect the outcome of your loved ones'. AND GOD... KAYLEE CALEB AND SILAS AS A TRIO IN ANOTHER WORLD / LIFE.... hope to see something of the like in two steps forward, one step back :eyeballs: realistically understand why it wouldnt happen though, especially in canon, but ill still be Hoping

is there a specific reason why their mom kept having these visions? and did she ever have a vision of her own death? like. did she know she was eventually going to die after giving birth to kaylee? i know travis is an Ass but is there a reason specifically why she wanted to keep caleb away from him?

I've seen you post about Batman here and there, so I was wondering if you have any other superheroes that you enjoy?

I'll exclude Batfam people because I enjoy their stories enough to at least try to do something with any of their solo things (well I'll try to slog through whatever nonsense is happening in Red Hood and the Outlaws and Nightwing on occasion and the Cass Cain issues from when she was Batgirl are fucking unparalleled) and I do dearly love all of them (except for Tim I don't hate him I just find him really boring and creatively uninteresting and I have a lot of issues with both his fandom and also the creative decisions behind his character that can't really be separated from the character). But Batfam is always gonna be number one, all of them.

I like the occasional X-Man, though mostly Hope Summers cuz something about her tickles my brain. I like Iron Man though I'll admit that most of that comes from the way Robert Downey Jr. portrayed him in the MCU (which I hate and despise but he was good in those never had a bad time watching him on screen even with all the other bullshit in that godforsaken franchise). I also enjoy Doctor Fate, it's an interesting concept and I do wish they'd do more with him. I honestly have positive feelings towards most tentpole superheroes at Marvel and DC, I like Superman (My Adventures with Superman was appointment viewing when season 1 was airing and I want season 2 so badly) and I like Wonder Woman and I like the Maximoff twins, just not necessarily enough to seek out content for them specifically.

But my number one Marvel guys are Doctor Strange and Clea Strange. Like, behind Batfam characters, they're my favorites, and as I've said, their story is currently the one I'm keeping up with. I love them so much, they're so dear to me in all ways (Clea slightly more so but I've got deep love for Stephen too) and I eagerly await any new thing Jed Mackay gives me, even if he makes me wait a month.
