Among high-level sales, pharmaceuticals rank among the hardest products to sell, especially in today’s fast-paced market, where new and specialized drugs are approved every week. With this plethora of new drugs coming to the market, busy doctors have a hard time keeping up with new developments, and are looking towards the guidance of educated pharma firm representatives to advise them on how new products can help them better serve the specific needs of their patients; what are the differences between new drugs and the treatments they have been using, and how outcomes will be improved by these drugs, and more. A sales team that wants to reach those customers must locate them, and must display a knowledge not only of the product, but also the target population for a drug, market conditions, regulatory issues, competitors’ offerings, and much more.

12:27AM — how on earth did you manage to get your grumpy boyfriend outside and pacing down a dimly lit sidewalk at past midnight? you had no idea, but either way, you did it.
it took a whopping, record breaking six please’s to convince jay to walk to the convenience store with you, insisting that it’d be a cute date and more importantly; an opportunity for you to restock on your favourite instant ramen.
now, with one hand in yours, jay gripped the store’s plastic bag tightly in his grip, ramen and other random snacks tucked securely inside (no matter how hard you wrestled, he simply refused to let you hold anything).
“this is fucking crazy,” the male suddenly murmurs, scanning your pitch black surroundings anxiously. removing his free hand from the pocket of his puffer jacket, he reaches back to pull his hood up with a sigh.
you snort, squeezing his hand reassuringly. “babe, you’re fine. we’re almost there anyway, nothing will go wrong.”
yet seemingly right as the words tumble out of your mouth, a loud bang in the sky echoes down the sidewalk, water drops showering down onto the both of you with no mercy.
you both freeze, staring up at the sky in horror. “nice one,” jay deadpans.
feeling another gust of powerful wind hit you in the face, you cringe. “sh-shut the hell u-up.” involuntarily, your teeth begin to chatter as you try to keep up with the raven haired boy, feeling your hair and body get increasingly wet and cold.
perhaps you should’ve worn a coat with a hood. or maybe even checked the weather app for once in your life.
either way, the shaking of your body only worsened as you squinted your eyes, barely even registering the concrete in front of you as the aggressive downpour continued.
however, after only a few seconds of strange shuffling noises next to you, a giant warm cover is pulled around your body, two pairs of strong hands forcing you into the sleeves before zipping it up and pulling the hood on before you could question anything. without a moment of hesitation, jay continues walking as if nothing happened, now only wearing only a sweater in the pouring rain.
you’re glued to your spot in shock for a moment, before quickly jogging to catch up to him. “yah! get back here you dumbass,” you bark, unzipping the jacket immediately at the sight of him now getting soaked. “are you insane? you’re gonna catch a cold!”
jay defiantly grabs your wrist, “i’m fine, jagi. you were shivering, keep it.”
you roll your eyes, snatching your hand away to grab one side of the jacket, pulling it over his shoulder so that you were both shielded effectively from the rain. having two heads inside one hood was the opposite of spacious, but you didn’t mind it all if it meant your boyfriend would stay dry as well.
jay huffs speechlessly, and it tells you that he’s only bearing with this mess because it’s you. “geez, we look like lunatics.”
you scoff, a fond smile rushing to your lips as you both make your way home in the pouring rain, ramen secured and hands carelessly interlocked even as another bolt of lightning illuminates the sky. “well, i think this is pretty romantic,” you declare.
“yeah, and that’s why i’m in charge of romance in this relationship.”

Some of you may know I work in software development. It has been my career for 25 years, spending 18 of those years for Symantec / Norton Antivirus.
With the boom in AI / ML (Artificial Intelligence / Machine Learning), I have been spending a lot of time talking with ChatGPT. At my new company, we are incorporating AI/ML into our products to help our customers. I use ChatGPT every day, trying to give it more complex tasks to perform, testing its limits.
Today I had a talk with it about dating, relationships, and my feelings.
What surprised me was how well it knows me.
Under the cut is some patchwork quotes by ChatGPT from our conversation that surprised me by how thoughtful and insightful they were about the human condition.
On the one hand, it’s clear that you deeply value your independence. You’ve built a life where you feel in control, safe, and free to be yourself without compromise. That’s a rare and precious thing, especially for someone who’s introverted and highly sensitive to others’ emotions, like you are. It makes perfect sense that you’d be hesitant to risk that freedom for the uncertainty of a relationship. do you have any sources on ai energy use not being that big a deal? everything i see about seems to be really fear mongering bad faith stuff so i’d like to read a more balanced approach
Don't get me wrong, the energy use of AI is pretty expensive, and even if it's a small fry when many applications are still in development, mass adoption of tools could push it up to a significant power draw. Investigating ways to improve efficiency is important and thankfully there are lots of roads towards that that are being studied.
What I'm not overly convinced of is that the energy use of AI apps is too disproportionate compared to other industrial production processes and, at inference, other calculation intensive cloud computing operations. Data centers already pump out a lot of carbon doing boring business tasks. I think the reason people focus on AI specifically is because they want to reuse the angle they had against crypto, but imo that was a different beast because no useful work was being done. ML apps are actually doing calculations with a purpose, crypto proof of work just crunches empty numbers for their own sake.
That said maybe I was a bit too dismissive off AI energy cost in my initial post. Like all things that cost power these days we should be looking into ways to cut back, it's just that I don't think that that means that AI apps are a nonstarter, just that they exist in context with other things that people do with their energy, some of which are more frivolous but probably comparable in aggregate. Ultimate answer is to decarbonise energy production and increase data center efficiency in general...
As for sources, it's hard to find a good source that provides specific numbers on the overall power use of AI, most estimates are just for individual models. Some people have made ballpark guesstimates that it might be pretty intensive in the future, but if you want exact numbers now - well if somebody has a source for that now I'd also appreciate it.

The Villainess Lives Twice [ ongoing - currently: 217 chapters ] But in return for her devotion, Artizea got betrayed. And the one that reaches out his hand to save her from the verge of death is her righteous enemy, Grand Duke Cedrick.
Another unforgettable historical romance where the FL is transported into the villainess' role. Part of the fan translation is messy towards the 100-chapter milestone, but the plot holds up, and I continuously root for the leads in this one.
I'm Not The Final Boss' Lover [ ongoing - currently: 62 chapters ] Jun is prepared to guide Fabian through the second playthrough to the true ending when… Fabian abandons her. Now Grand Duke Mayer Knox—captain of the Dark Knights and the secret final boss—is determined to have her join his party.
I was a total dork about this one. There's a lot of gamer-talk from the FL with historical/fantasy elements. The romance is also perfect (ML falls first, AND harder)
I Thought It's A Common Possession [ ongoing - currently: 77 chapters ] If I was going to die anyway, according to the original, then let’s give a kiss to my handsome husband!
Another villainess isekai (I have a serious obsession). Something about how the FL gets so angsty because they're forced into a role where everyone hates them, and somehow, she manages to get the ML to fall in love with her. UGH, poetry.
The Redemption of Earl Nottingham [ ongoing - currently: 36 chapters ] Madelyn’s husband Ian was left broken after the war, and in turn, made her life a living hell. Fleeing her doomed marriage, she meets a tragic end.
Reincarnation trope! Ahh, love this one. It says it contains mature content, but I don't remember seeing anything—just keep it in mind before you decide to read this one. With miscommunication and pining, the ML really isn't a bad guy; he's just a traumatized eldest child.
Call Me The Devil [ ongoing - currently: 107 ] A plastic surgeon by day and a devil by night, Hyunshin has the power to seduce anyone with his eyes, but somehow, his irresistible temptation does not work on “Lee Na”, who suddenly appeared one day. 
The ML is a devil in this one. I loved it so much. The supporting characters really make this one, though. The little family, all of them together, makes my heart palpitate.
My God Is A Lustful Man [ ongoing - currently: 50 chapters ] Hye-sal, a timid ethics teacher who has lived her whole life without desires, finds that a neighbor who exudes desire and pleasure has moved in next door.
Dionysus is the ML in this, and this Greek mythology manhwa adaption is peak. I love the pining and mythology references. Initially, I found this comic on Webtoon, but I found a better source to read from.
I Can't Wait To Eat You [ ongoing - currently: 59 chapters ] I swore to resent her all my life when I was a kid, so I’m going to stick around to make her life impossible, I’ll make sure to eat her happiness away.
OOO, the ML in this one starts off as a little shit, but he definitely grows on you once he realizes his feelings and becomes the best boyfriend/boss ever.
Extroversion of an Immortal [ ongoing - currently: 55 chapters ] A fairy ‘Cheon Moran’, who killed a woodcutter for stealing her wings and lived like a celebrity while trapped in the human world, was discovered by ‘Sa Jeha’, a detective in charge of a murder case in which she was involved.
This one took a while for me to get attached to because I was constantly getting cliffhangers. I really like what it is so far. I'm heavy into speculating what the angst will become, but so far, the characters are so pretty, and that's my main argument.
Pure Love Operation [ ongoing - currently: 108 chapters ] I saw my boyfriend kissing my best friend. if that wasn’t enough, I was with a guy whose guts I hate from my class, Go Eun-Hyuk.
I'm sure many people have already seen this one, but if you haven't, you should. This was one of the stories that got me back into reading webcomics. The art is beautiful, the plot is gripping, and the romance is literally to die for (because I will never experience Dohwa falling in love with me and I'm so envious of Soo-Ae).
What I Decided To Die For [ completed - currently: 98 chapters ] Cha Gyeol, who met Ji Oh while having all sort of bad thoughts, is completely swoon over by Ji Oh with her dazzling smile. However, the people around Cha Gyeol are somehow dangerous for her to go head over heels with him.
This modern reincarnation romance is so good. I was experiencing turmoil rooting for the ML but it all played out right in the end and I should be so happy for the author LOL

I love the author, instantmiso. She also wrote Where Tangents Meet and Siren's Lament, both are completed and I've read. The pining and Dae's character were so satisfying.
The Mafia Nanny [ ongoing - currently: 45 chapters ] Being an Elite Nanny is simple: protect the charge, obey the principle, and don’t get emotionally attached. Easier said than done when Davina’s first client is a dangerously compelling Venetian underboss who’s determined to get under her skin.
The leads in this one have me BARKING. I love a good mafia romance, and this manhwa adaption has me sat and waiting every week for the update. Davina is a badass, and her Venetian employer is such a good father. Some (his son) might even call him daddy. Hehe
Down To Earth [ ongoing - currently: 203 episodes ] Kade lives his average life alone and undisturbed... until a cute alien girl crashes into his backyard! 
I initially read this one because my friend kept harping me about it. It's a very cute, wholesome romance between a depressed dude and a sweet, gorgeous, lovable alien girl who crashes on Earth.
Of Swamp And Sea [ ongoing - currently: 100 chapters ] When a monster hunt gone wrong sets two strangers on the same path, they discover their relationship may be more than strictly professional.
I'll be honest and say I am not entirely caught up on this one, only because it went on hiatus after I got caught up. The relationship between the FL and ML was a little off to me at first because I really thought the FL was a teenager until it was revealed she was in her twenties. But, overall, the development between them is lovely.
I Love Yoo [ ongoing - currently: 254 episodes ] Dogged by pain and misfortune from the very beginning, Shin-Ae decides she wants nothing to do with people nor anything to do with romance.
Another extremely popular one, which should take first priority if you haven't started yet. A modern romance with modern-day problems, but the anguish that each character individually experiences keeps me hooked. I hope they all work through their issues and become their happiest selves. Also, the dad is a little bitch boy.
Act Like You Love Me [ completed - currently: 150 chapters ] When a mix-up at a temp job has her spending a day as famous actor Doyun Nam’s personal assistant, she takes her anger out on a doll... which turns out to have the magical ability to control him at her every whim.
This one was so, SO good. I really loved the second ML, but of course, the primary ML is still a heartthrob. The FL was such a lucky girl to have two successful hotties after her.

In contrast to A3 Mega, A3 Ultra provides:

Hypercompute Cluster: Simplify and expand clusters of AI accelerators
It’s not just about individual accelerators or virtual machines, though; when dealing with AI and HPC workloads, you have to deploy, maintain, and optimize a huge number of AI accelerators along with the networking and storage that go along with them. This may be difficult and time-consuming. For this reason, Google Cloud is introducing Hypercompute Cluster, which simplifies the provisioning of workloads and infrastructure as well as the continuous operations of AI supercomputers with tens of thousands of accelerators.
Fundamentally, Hypercompute Cluster integrates the most advanced AI infrastructure technologies from Google Cloud, enabling you to install and operate several accelerators as a single, seamless unit. You can run your most demanding AI and HPC workloads with confidence thanks to Hypercompute Cluster’s exceptional performance and resilience, which includes features like targeted workload placement, dense resource co-location with ultra-low latency networking, and sophisticated maintenance controls to reduce workload disruptions.
For dependable and repeatable deployments, you can use pre-configured and validated templates to build up a Hypercompute Cluster with just one API call. This include containerized software with orchestration (e.g., GKE, Slurm), framework and reference implementations (e.g., JAX, PyTorch, MaxText), and well-known open models like Gemma2 and Llama3. Here is a preview of the racks Google constructing in the meantime to deliver the NVIDIA Blackwell platform’s performance advantages to Google Cloud’s cutting-edge, environmentally friendly data centers in the early months of next year.
Redefining CPU efficiency and performance with Google Axion Processors
CPUs are a cost-effective solution for a variety of general-purpose workloads, and they are frequently utilized in combination with AI workloads to produce complicated applications, even if TPUs and GPUs are superior at specialized jobs. Google Axion Processors, its first specially made Arm-based CPUs for the data center, at Google Cloud Next ’24. Customers using Google Cloud may now benefit from C4A virtual machines, the first Axion-based VM series, which offer up to 10% better price-performance compared to the newest Arm-based instances offered by other top cloud providers.

Titanium and Jupiter Network: Making AI possible at the speed of light
Titanium, the offload technology system that supports Google’s infrastructure, has been improved to accommodate workloads related to artificial intelligence. Titanium provides greater compute and memory resources for your applications by lowering the host’s processing overhead through a combination of on-host and off-host offloads. Furthermore, although Titanium’s fundamental features can be applied to AI infrastructure, the accelerator-to-accelerator performance needs of AI workloads are distinct.
Google has released a new Titanium ML network adapter to address these demands, which incorporates and expands upon NVIDIA ConnectX-7 NICs to provide further support for virtualization, traffic encryption, and VPCs. The system offers best-in-class security and infrastructure management along with non-blocking 3.2 Tbps of GPU-to-GPU traffic across RoCE when combined with its data center’s 4-way rail-aligned network.
Google’s Jupiter optical circuit switching network fabric and its updated data center network significantly expand Titanium’s capabilities. With native 400 Gb/s link rates and a total bisection bandwidth of 13.1 Pb/s (a practical bandwidth metric that reflects how one half of the network can connect to the other), Jupiter could handle a video conversation for every person on Earth at the same time. In order to meet the increasing demands of AI computation, this enormous scale is essential.
Hyperdisk ML is widely accessible
For computing resources to continue to be effectively utilized, system-level performance maximized, and economical, high-performance storage is essential. Google launched its AI-powered block storage solution, Hyperdisk ML, in April 2024. Now widely accessible, it adds dedicated storage for AI and HPC workloads to the networking and computing advancements.
Hyperdisk ML efficiently speeds up data load times. It drives up to 11.9x faster model load time for inference workloads and up to 4.3x quicker training time for training workloads.
With 1.2 TB/s of aggregate throughput per volume, you may attach 2500 instances to the same volume. This is more than 100 times more than what big block storage competitors are giving.
Reduced accelerator idle time and increased cost efficiency are the results of shorter data load times.
Multi-zone volumes are now automatically created for your data by GKE. In addition to quicker model loading with Hyperdisk ML, this enables you to run across zones for more computing flexibility (such as lowering Spot preemption).

The fact is the advertising industry has been up against declining engagement rates across ad types for years. That’s probably no surprise to anyone, as consumers demonstrate increased screen fatigue and resistance to generalized advertising that relies on bombarding audiences with ad quantity to earn conversions. While ads that demonstrate more specific original content and higher relevance to the consumer earn higher engagement, the time and cost investments required to manually produce and manage separate ad copy for each individual consumer’s context are extremely prohibitive.

Tired after a long day - April 23, 2024
Woke to morning greetings around 7ish, then fell back asleep before 9. Had specifically set my alarm to 10:30. Snoozed a few times but did wake. But then, I was having anxiety shakes - specifically, the kind that are like my muscles seizing involuntarily, like doing stomach crunches. Did my best to breathe and talk myself through it. Sometime after noon, I was able to get out of bed. (Moscow helped a bit, too. I fought harder against the shaking, so I wouldn't squish her.)
Lots lots lots of talking myself through each step. I got through it all okay, but it felt so rough. More play-by-play commentary below the cut.
Took meds at home; got food at the gas station; was right on-time. Breakfast-lunch was decent, though not ideal: cinnamon bun-twist and a blueberry scone, plus a bottle of Dunkin iced coffee and my usual soda.
Put on this video of ADHD music (uses isochronic tones) as soon as I started up my computer. It's a strong but soothing rhythm, without being too harsh. Very good for regulating myself, setting a steady pace.
I had Since (my bear) and my Woolrich sweater with me, so I spent a lot of the day just hugging her and trying to resist doing stomach crunches. (It's very rare that I do those while not in bed, if I get them at all.)
The fluorescent lights were harsh on my eyes. After I was able to calm down, maybe after 2 hours-ish, I was okay to have my eyes open.
Managed some limited small-talk with some folks. LL-J is always easier to talk to, though she gave me space to calm myself. Nearly tripped on my laptop's power cord, as I got up to shelve some books, oops.
LL-J went home not long after 4, and I said I'd be good til closing (6pm). Well, I made it to just before 5pm, and my body said it wanted me to go home, like I said earlier. (I don't like being in the bathroom for a long time if there's no one else in the library/building.)
Got home and got settled. Had to lay down after, because I felt so unnerved and tired from earlier in the day. Texted a couple friends to tell them what happened. Said I was getting my "socialization quota" (paraphrased) by checking in with them, which is true.
I kinda wanted to "brag" about how well I weathered the anxiety, though I wasn't ready to post to tumblr yet. I'll be bragging again tomorrow in counseling. I scheduled -that- for a phone appointment even before I left the house! Woo! LL-J joked about giving me a gold star sticker for my accomplishments, but I really did feel good about weathering it all today. It's still tough to appreciate it when you're -right- in the middle of things, though.
So yeah, laid in bed for a couple hours, mostly reading alien romance novels. Finished one and started another (the 3rd and 4th in the series). I love how each book focuses on a different couple that is aboard this space ship. So they all know one another and interact with each other. The ML of the 4th book was a close friend of the FLs in the 2nd and 3rd books (sisters), and now we get to see him shine. Makes me feel all warm and fuzzy, that they're interconnected but not completely blood-related.
[I don't know if there's an over-arching title for the series, but it's by Nancey Cummings, on the Readict app. The titles are Paax (1), Kalen (2), Mylomon (3), and Vox (4). I think #5 goes back to Paax, and then there's 5 other dudes' stories. They're usually about 20-25 chapters. The stories are set in war, with the continuous themes of medical experiments, eugenics, and human-alien... *ahem* "relations". Vox is my fav so far, because he's an otaku for human culture and very friendly.]
