#MCU Reboot

I keep seeing this rumor that The MCU is gonna reboot after Secret Wars and start over with all the Xmen and other Fox characters already in the universe and I'm really curious as to whether or not The MCU has the momentum and interest to survive a full franchise reboot. Obviously, theres the hardcore fans who will stick around, but with the general audience losing faith in the MCU, and not really vibing with the multiverse aside from Spiderman and Deadpool, will they be willing to recommit all that time to completely new versions of the characters theyve been invested in for nearly 20 years at that point? The DCU works as a franchise reboot because they spent their entire existence floundering, it only made sense to reboot DC. Marvel tho, had more than a whole decade of built up trust, and movies people love and specific adaptations of characters that people have become attatched to. Imo it's gonna be much harder rebooting Captain America than something like Superman who we haven't seen in a real role in a theatrical movie since 2017, but Captain America has a movie coming out only a year before the reboot starts. Regardless it's still a couple years out and maybe I'm wrong and people won't care I guess we'll have to wait and see

Manifesting that with Secret Wars being a soft reboot of the MCU, that there’ll be an opportunity for Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver to be recasted with actors who are actually Romani and that they’ll be Magneto’s mutant children

Iron Man came out in 2008 and in doing so launched the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The MCU is almost 20 years old and yet we haven't had a reboot yet. Can we even still say these movies are inspired by comics if we haven't had a reboot yet?

the problem with a lot of mainstream entertainment right now is that adaptations of comic book superhero universes, a medium and genre that lends itself to an infinite number of iterations and expanded storytelling, or something like star wars, that by definition has a GALAXY of stories to tell, got REALLY popular in mainstream film and TV, and instead of companies thinking "ok WHY do these types of stories lend themselves to constantly expanding franchises" they thought "let's apply that to every other story possible even if it doesn't make sense because it must be FRANCHISES that work right?" and now we are here. (there are a lot of other reasons for this too, but this is a big one)

A film director (James Gunn) makes a film adaption of a comic has a female character (Lylla Otter) who's alive and well in the source material get fridged so the male character (Rocket Raccoon) can have a pointless tragic backtory.

Result: Becomes in charge of another studio's cinematic universe

Sony recently announced that they are bringing their Spider-Man spin-off universe to an end and that they plan to reboot it to be more successful and i think it's agreed that one of the biggest missteps with this universe is the lack of Spider-Man which Sony said previously that they didn't want to use him due to the MCU and then officially announced that they could've used him the whole

So my idea for this reboot is to shocker add Spider-Man but not Peter Parker to avoid risking the confusion of general audiences nor Miles Morales Marvel has made it clear after Spider-verse he'll be added to the MCU but Ben Reilly Peter Parkers clone.

So how I'd pull this off is by starting the new reboot with an almost Robo Cop-esc Ben Reily movie where a depressed alone and confused Ben has to piece together his past and his reflection that haunts him using a slightly darker Spider-Man persona maybe while hunting down people possibly involved he focuses on getting revenge over saving someone costing them their lives only realising the impact of his inaction when he sneaks into Peter Parkers funeral seeing the people he has flashes of memory in serious pain with him eventually realising the importance of morality, hope and the power of the Symbol of Spider-Man.

He'd Eventually Finding the man behind everything Mile Warren makeshift lab in an old ware house looking through the files to find out as much as he can looking through old video tapes discovering that Warren was a depressed lonely Scientist who despised Spider-Man not believing human beings are possible of such selflessness deciding it must be whatever has given him his powers and that he's managed to swipe some of his DNA from a previous fight with a previous villain cloning him with the intent of gaining his powers stealing pieces of tech to help run and power the machines with the assumption he's building a bomb Spider-Man tries to stop him resulting in an explosion that kills Peter Parker, releases Ben and scarring Warren.

Warren due to his injures wears the Green Jackal costume managing to gain some of Spider-Mans powers eventually fighting Ben Reilly ending with the Jackal being arrested and Ben Reilly donning 'The Sensational Spider-Man Suit" and swinging off as the new Spider-Man

leaving the room to create villain movies through Spider-Man making the villains interesting enough to helm their own projects
