- Érdeklődött tovább a kis nyavalyás. - Honnan a fenéből tudnám!?

The hidden link between Germany and Rwanda
In an ideal world, there wouldn’t be war. Because if two people fought or only had a disagreement that needed mediation from a third party, they could all reason together with empathy, which means deep respect for the feelings of the other persons, but never going as far as bending the immovable truth to favor one party over the other. Justice has been weighing all options and arguments, but…

BIG COMFY SWEATER SPOTTED! 🤩✨ And a big mug of something with an amount of cream.
I always think of caf first, but this smells suspiciously like lumumba 🍫☕️✨ Can I take a sip mlem 🫠

Finally some new Bad Batch artwork. As I keep saying, sorry, my schedule when it comes to art has been busy. But I managed to slip in a Crosshair’s in-between commissions. I figured for Life day Omega would have gotten him a sweater with Batcher on it. Of course he’d wear it, not just for her but also because he loves Batcher. She’s a good girl after all.
I do have a Tech screenshot redraw piece I’m hoping to get to this month. So stay tuned for that.

Film : Lumumba, Raoul Peck

Patrice Lumumba (1925 - 1961) was a Congolese independence leader and the first Prime Minister of the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Born on July 2, 1925, in Onalua, in the Kasai region of what was then the Belgian Congo, Lumumba emerged as a significant figure in African politics during the mid-20th century.
Lumumba became involved in politics in the 1950s, advocating for Congolese independence from Belgian colonial rule. He was a founding member of the Mouvement National Congolais (MNC), a political party that played a crucial role in the struggle for independence. On June 30, 1960, the Congo achieved independence, and Lumumba was appointed as the Prime Minister. His tenure was marked by struggles against tribalism, foreign intervention, and internal dissent, as well as efforts to unify the newly independent nation.
However, Lumumba's government faced significant challenges, and tensions escalated with the secession of the Katanga region and political rivalries. His authoritarian ideological approach and alignment with the Soviet Union during the Cold War alarmed Western powers, leading to his eventual dismissal from office.
In September 1960, Lumumba was arrested under the orders of President Joseph Mobutu. He was later transferred to Katanga, where he was executed on January 17, 1961, under controversial circumstances involving Belgian and U.S. involvement. His assassination has since been the subject of extensive investigation and debate.
Patrice Lumumba is remembered as a symbol of African nationalism and the struggle against colonialism, and his legacy continues to inspire movements for justice, independence, and self-determination across Africa.🇨🇩

Go watch this (on youtube, the entire movie is on there at the moment). it's amazing and it will make you so incredibly angry.
Soundtrack to a Coup d'Etat
Director: Johan Grimonprez Year: 2024 Distributer: Kino Lorber
"I used to be fascinated by Khrushchev’s shoe-banging incident, yet I never realised it had to do with the politics of my country. This whole event was a precedent: no heads of state were ever going to the UN before. For me, that’s what this film is about: it’s ground zero of how the West would deal with the independence movement. At home, these things were unspoken. You would learn about [DR] Congo at school, but you wouldn’t really learn about [DR] Congo. But if you’re talking about decolonisation, trauma is not just about what you have seen in a war – it’s also about what you perpetuated yourself. As long as my country is not dealing with it, we will never move forward." - Johan Grimonprez

"We all were sea-swallow'd, though some cast again / And by that destiny to perform an act / Whereof what's past is prologue, what to come / In yours and my discharge." -The Tempest
I recently read Ravi Somaiya's The Golden Thread: The Cold War and the Mysterious Death of Dag Hammarskjöld. The implications are staggering, even all these years later.
Key topics:
✔️ "Draw your own conclusions." ✔️ "We did it" is really tantamount to, "Yeah, we did it. And what are you gonna do about it? Nothin'!" ✔️ "our motivation for Balkanising their country" ✔️ "he should drop the matter"
