collab. I am HOWLING. Cramming Worst Case Scenario into my mouth. The irony of it being called Worse Case Scenario despite this being a very good scenario. Aughgh they both have so many issues!! And! Something about the fact that Akiko's the one who takes that first terrifying step in communicating feels so, so interesting to me. The words to detail why elude me rn tho!!!

I hafta ask! What was going through Akiko's head in the panel after Hito apologizes for crying? (Hurts! By the way! He apologizes like someone used to apologizing!) It looks like they come to a couple of realizations.

I'M SO SO GLAD YOU LIKE IT. The problem wouldn't immediately be fixed, but it is certainly a very interesting divergence to consider!

There are a LOT of things going through Akiko's head in that moment. The fact that they've been scared of their dad for ten years, but they just scared him and they don't like it at all. The realization that he must be used to shutting down and apologizing, with the way he reacts. The sudden recontextualization of all the times they've seen him let their teachers mistreat them because he was too much of a coward to stop them. The hazy memories of their parents arguing, and how it was only ever Aoi that raised her voice.

Have some art that I was reminded of existing made by @lumpy-veev. This exists because of a discussion of a dream I had of Hino... basically dressing up like this. The result, as you can see, is quite blursed, but he's slaying it nevertheless.

Oooh so I’ve been Rotating dwbi au in my head and I have a question;; so the whole reason this au happens is because eigong didn’t infect the roots right? But if that’s the case,, how is it that yi isn’t connected to them any more, if they’re still intact?? Or did they still get destroyed somehow? :0 curious

So- I'm actually retconning that, lol! I was struggling to come up with reasons for them to not be able to go back to Penglai. And @lumpy-veev saved me by coming up with the idea of the roots grabbing him and pulling him in after Eigong infects them. So I've actually been working off of that concept, instead. Yi comes to somewhere similar to the limitless realm, where what's physically real and what isn't is kind of wonky. He essentially fights off a manifestation of the mutated Tianhuo in a 4th boss phase "like a white blood cell fighting off a virus" and uses the Rhiz bomb to finish it off. Fully expecting not to get out of there alive and not able to personally say goodbye to his friends due to not having a signal, he leaves Kuafu, Shuanshuan, and Shennong a goodbye message he doesn't expect to get delivered before loosing the arrow. Instead of being allowed to die, however, he's spat back out onto the floor of the pinnacle room. He wakes up an indeterminate amount of time later to several missed calls from Kuafu, still on the ground, none of his wounds having been healed, and the Fusang roots wilted and dryly breaking apart around him. He calls Kuafu and asks him to come pick him up and then weakly limps over to the greenhouse to see if Goumang is still alive and if there's anyone left in the Empyrean district who is able to be recovered.

I got inspired by @lumpy-veev and they said it was okay for me to give it a go with my headcannons. Lez go :3 (Check the byortis tag, and you'll see their awesome headcannons!^^)

Elaboration on headcannons:

First to confess: Mortis told Byron that he loved him when they were like 17

First to kiss: Byron was dared to kiss Mortis. (He didn't really mind tho)

Die for the other: They'd both die for one another

Prone to hide feelings: Byron hides his more because of...internalized homophobia...and expectations from society. Mortis hides his, but wasn't taught to hide his feelings, and is more expressive about how he feels.

First to apologize after a fight: Mortis usually apologizes first. Byron does, but not as often as Mortis. Much like Veev, I think Byron would hide and bottle up how he felt about the argument.

Excuse me, they asked for no pickles: If either one wasn't feeling able to talk to someone, they would do the "They asked for no pickles" depending on the others mood or feelings

Spoils the other: Byron does give Mortis a ton of attention and gifts, but Mortis takes it to a WHOLE NOTHER LEVEL

Wakes up first: Mortis usually wakes up first, technically cuz vampire.. Mortis gets more sleep than Byron, and usually wakes up earlier than him.

What's updog?: Mortis usually greets Byron in a hundred different ways.

Proposes: Mortis would propose in the dorkiest way possible and Byron would still cry and be like- "Nooooooo I'm not gud enough :(" but still says yes.

Wants kids: They have like four kids- (wow my headcannons are REALLY out there.)

Didn't know they were dating: Byron has only been in an arranged marriage, so he no fucking clue what it meant to date someone

Initiates contact: They both love cuddling and kisses, so they both do. Mortis does do it more though

Approached first: I'm going to write a fanfic about how they met, but Mortis approached first.

Said the L word first: Byron would try to tell Mortis he loved him, but it just went.. "I l-lo..... I like you.. but like, I.. l.o..v-" "I love you too, Ron." Mortis said it for him.

Completely oblivious: Mortis can kiss, bite, and hug Byron, and Byron won't understand how much Mortis loves him.

Also: Byron is the least dominant ass mf in a relationship. Little spoon, makes cookies, WHATEVER. That's him. Secretly a soft man. loves his kids, loves his husband. Loves his friends/family.

Mortis: You. Stole. My. Hat.

Byron: It looks better on me.

Mortis (taking Byron's coat): Then this is mine now, you bitch.

Forgive me if I am fabricating a memory! But I think I remember seeing your take on a soulmate au here before? Something about anyone being able to leave a colored mark on anyone, as long as there's love there (familial, platonic, romantic), and the mark fading if the love fades. It was really interesting! But I can't seem to find it anymore?

I did post something about that, if memory serves! Hell if I can remember the tag for it, though. But you're not crazy, I did do that!

They're dubbed Sleepy Scarf, by a friend and me. (@lumpy-veev :3 they draw really well, check them out if you haven't already!!)

I have a big story idea that features them heavily, and other AU ideas that includes them. But for the sake of spoilers and simplicity, I'll keep it tied to my mainverse. (Which also has spoilers, but I'm not too caught up in that.)

Also, this is them as a couple, not including the TDT.

-Basically, my hc of Sandy is that he's a being even more mysterious than Tara and Gene, because while they were both humans at one point long before joining Starr Park, he simply appeared one day in a very strong sandstorm.

-Nobody was sure what his origin was. A creation of Starr Park? A magic being wisked into existence? Even the Higher Ups of the Park said something along the lines of "Who cares? Just make him a Brawler." And so they did.

-Tara and Gene took it upon themselves to look after him, so he's a part of the Mystic Trinity.

-In his time in the Park, Sandy has observed how things are. Been told by Tara and Gene that a lot of folks here are trapped. How there have been many attempts to revolt, escape, overthrow the system, but it's ended in near-total failure each time. (Although, very few have managed to leave.)

-As a result of knowing so much and feeling like there's no true hope for most/all current Brawlers to escape safely, he decides to take a backseat to trying. After all, it's just not possible in this lifetime. So why bother. 😪

-...and this is where Edgar finally comes in!

-Edgar's an angry lad who's fueled by rage and determination. Honestly I feel like in any universe, Sandy is wowed by Edgar's seemingly endless energy. In this case, Edgar provides a real spark of hope of getting out of this place to Sandy. Since he knows more than his share fair of secrets around the park, he decides to help the edgy teen anyway he can.

-First and foremost, this means making sure Edgsr keeps a low profile and minimizing the damage he's already caused AND the attention he's garnered... He has to calm him down.

-Edgar has been claimed as one of the comfiest to lay on by Sandy. It's like Sandy has become attuned to every time Edgar lays down, because he magically appears and lays on him.

- Onto more light hearted headcanons and thoughts though 🥰

The best way to describe SS is that they're just two cats. One's an active black cat, ready to fight at a moment's notice and can usually be seen jumping across roof tops, and the other is a snoozing cat that enjoys the sunlight.

"You're a pillow and blanket all in one." Sandy mumbles happily.

"No I'm not, I'm just on break," Edgar 'complains' but Sandy is already snoozing, and Edgar just lays there. Until break is over... or some time after that. Colette will be fine...

When it comes down to it, Edgar is a hyped-up angry boy, and Sandy's the calm that can reel him in... to an extent. Conversely, Edgar is Sandy's motivation and has the sleepy boy's admiration.
