Eigong's Soulscape

She uses the word "mother" in a literal sense; she believes that she gave life to Yi by attaching his heart to the Rhizomatic Stabilizer. (Yi echoes this in game during an argument with Heng. He says that his mentor saved his life, not Fusang.) I drew the wires coming from Yi's chest to the device in Eigong's hands as a sort of umbilical cord.

Yi is her greatest creation. Some of her feelings about him are just reflections of her own personal pride+nepotism, but I think that she also admired his curiosity for science as much as his clinical intelligence.

@lumpy-veev wrote some little scenes exploring the idea of Yi's lack of self preservation in the Don't Worry 'Bout It AU and I could not help myself. The dialogue for the comics was written by them. They posited him going out and nearly dying and having a "people still need me to live actually moment." I think they'd imagined it happening a bit later down the line, but I also really like the idea of it being a bit earlier. idk i can't decide.
