okay but imagine Nico di Angelo that commits. he had finally had enough, had enough of feeling like he's fucking crazy, had enough of being paranoid, just had enough. he was done. so, he did the thing that had been on his mind the past few months. he did it, he finally killed himself. but, he didn't slit his wrists or over dose or hang himself. you know what he did? he took his ass out in the middle o the night to the lake, jumped in, and let himself sink.

okay now imagine Percy Jackson that found out. he was one of the first people that found out, Hazel being contacted immediately. imagine the guilt he felt, because he should have noticed it. he knew Nico was struggling, but he assumed he would be fine. he thought to himself, why didn't I check? why didn't I ever ask if he was okay? imagine him shutting down. he didn't cry, didn't shout. everything just went still. Percy didn't use his powers unless he had to after that, because Nico drowned himself, and every sight of the liquid was a reminder of that. a reminder that Percy couldn't save him. imagine Percy Jackson collapsing to the floor in the solitary confines of his cabin and sobbing his heart out because that's his baby cousin. that's dead because of water, because of him.
