Emails, Transfer Disputes and Harper
Summary: You get a long awaited email, there are some transfer disputes at camp and you spend time with Harper
Warnings: Some swearing, yelling I guess, angst (I think)
A/N: Plot twist..... maybe, maybe not?
You were sitting against the back wall of the common room finishing off the last of your schoolwork for the day. When you got an email, not just an email, the email, you opened the email and started reading, not caring that essentially the rest of the team was in the room.
âDear Y/F/N Williamson, this email is regarding your senior education, blah blah, after many discussions within our team and consultations with Arsenal FC and Football Australia we have come to a decision on your request, blah blah, I am pleased to inform you that your request has been fulfilled in addition to the removal of all internal exams, which will instead be replaced with assignments, thus in your final year of your education you will have three assignments per subject to complete. Blah blah blahâ
Itâs safe to say a wave of relief flooded over you, you had put in this request 6 months ago, your final year of school was looming just 3 weeks away now, and so too were the Olympics in a year, tears started to stream out your eyes, you couldnât believe it, you didnât think they would say yes, the request was purely put in to see, no one thought they would say yes, let alone do more.
âWhatâs wrongâ a soft voice said as a small hand was placed on your shoulder, you looked up to see sweet little Harper in front of you.
âThese arenât sad tears Harps, these are happy tears,â you replied to her, pulling her in for a great big hug.
âWhatâs happening, are you okay Y/N/N?â Steph said as her and Sam walked in totally confused, everyone turned around to see you tears streaming down you face, hugging harper, with a huge smile on your face, they were also totally confused.
âThey, they said yes Steph,â âWho did? Wait. No, they said yes! Om my God, Iâm so happy for you.â
âWho said yes?â âThe education people, she-â
âRead,â you said shoving the computer into Stephâs hands, standing up, now holding Harper, who just pressed her head into the crock of your neck and relaxed, which Mini took a photo of, she had so many photos of you and Harper together, she could fill a stadium with them.
âDear Y/F/N Williamson, this email is regarding your senior education, whatever, whatever, after many discussions within our team and consultations with Arsenal FC and Football Australia we have come to a decision on your request, whatever, I am pleased to inform you that your request has been fulfilled in addition to the removal of all internal exams, which will instead be replaced with assignments, thus in your final year of your education you will have three assignments per subject to complete. Whatever, whatever.â Said read the email out loud, her mouth dropped in shock. âWait, theyâre doing more?â
âYepâ you replied emphasising the P.
âWait this means you are available to be picked for the Olympics now, we need to go to Tonyâ.
âYou do know there is no guarantee you will be picked though rightâ someone said.
âUh, have you seen the girl play,â Sam responded.
âShe makes the oppositions defence look like a joke; trust me Iâve been on the other side of itâ Alanna added.
âAnyway, if I donât get picked for this team, I have been promised there is a spot for me on another team. Iâll tell Tony tomorrow; I wouldnât be surprised if theyâve been told as well though.â
âYou know what I loved to see you place against Barca,â
âWell, if you accept Emmaâs offer that could hap-â Sam started but you cut her off âYeah and if I accepted Barcaâs offer I could play for Barca.â
âWait, youâve got offers from Barca and Chelsea?â Steph asks.
âYeah, and City, and like basically every other club, can we not talk about this right now?â
âBut have you actually thought about this, this is serious,â âYeah, Iâm not an imbecile contrary to what you may think, Arsenal found out and offered more than Barca and Chelsea, but they raised them, I told Arsenal, and they are coming back to me,â
âWait, Emma raised her offer? She was already offering more than she pays me, thatâs insane, and Barca did too, and Arsenal might raise them again.â Sam questions with surprise in her voice.
âYeahâ you say back to her, slightly insulted by how much shock she is in.
âSo, youâre staying at Arsenal?â Caitlin askes.
âI donât know, I have to think about it, talk to my parents about it, have the dreaded conversation with Leah, honestly Leah is probably the reason Arsenal is trying to raise again, if I go, sheâll probably go too. But even if she doesnât go lets be honest, the team works the way it does and its successful because of the dynamic we have, a very fragile dynamic at that, with any one of us gone, its going to fall down a cliff, which is risky, its risky to stay at Arsenal, Barca might not ever offer this sort of money again, or even worse they might not ever give me an offer againâ you pause for a moment before you put Harper on the ground âwhy donât you go back to your Mamaâ she nods and walks back over to Mini, who sends you an apologetic look, she knew why you put Harper down and it shouldnât have to be that way but it is âArsenal is the dream team, you are all amazing everyone there is my family, but Barca is also the dream team, playing with the best players day in day out at training, competing against some of the best, a +66 goal difference, I mean how could you not want that, and the fact that they increased their offer after Arsenal raised them that means something, you get an offer at Barca you jump at it you, donât look at the figure, you donât question, we all know how it works, you question, you hesitate Barca takes the offer away, and Lucy and Kiera say everyone there is super friendly and lovely and they think I would fit right in.â
âYouâve spoken to Lucy Bronze and Kiera Walsh about Barca? But havenât mentioned a word about it to anyone at Arsenal, your clubâ.
âYeah, itâs not like I owe you guys anythingâ.
âSo, Chelsea isnât on the cards th-â âNo Sam Chelsea isnât on the cards, Chelsea was never on the fucking cards, it was always going to be Baraca or Arsenal. Why am I letting you all do this to me? Itâs my decision. Itâs my fucking life! Iâm going upâ you start to walk away, before you turn around and look at Sam and Steph âand donât you dare even think to follow me,â and with that your gone.
______
âShitâ Sam said.
âWell, we fucked that one up,â Steph added.
âYep, you didâ Raso replied as she got up.
âWhere are you going?â
âTo go check on her,â
âBut-â âno, that was directed at you two, and also anyone else who said something, Iâm neutral territory hereâ.
The team was left in silence until Steph broke it âShit, I have our Room key. We were on better terms this morning; we didnât think she would need her ownâ.
âIâll go up, give it here, she probably wonât want to stay in there tonight anyway. She can stay with me. Here Charli take Harper, Iâll be back down for her thoughâ.
____
âHey kid, are you okay?â Hayley asks you; she seems very hesitant, she didnât get much else in before Mini came up.
âRass, Iâve got it from hereâ Mini said, Hayley got up and left, knowing this was more of a Mini job.
Mini sat down next to you, âNo, but are you okay?â she asks while putting an arm around your shoulders, a few tears escape your eyes, which you quickly and aggressively wipe away.
âI-I, I donât knowâ you sigh.
âThey shouldnât have done that, they immediately regretted it, but still they shouldnât have done that, itâs absolutely incredible that, this is happening, they should be happy for you, but I think they let their pride and hurt egos get in the way.â
âI just donât understand how they can go from talking about how âamazingâ I am to then being surprised I got an offer from more than one club, and from big clubs at that.â
âYeah, I know, I think Steph was a bit caught out, she spends so much time with you and-â
âYeah, but itâs not like anyone knew, not even Leahâ.
âYeah, I know, I think Steph was truly caught off guard, you talk like Arsenal is your home and then just blurt out youâre thinking about moving, I donât think she thought you had thought about it.â
âWell, Arsenal is my home, but they say home is where the heart is, and I think if you take out the players my heart isnât there, and I just feel like things are getting too easy at Arsenal, and I want a change, Iâve been part of arsenal for so long, first through Leah, then the academy and now, I love arsenal, it will always hold a piece of my heart, but I think I need to move, I want to improve, and thatâs not going to happen at Arsenalâ
âWell, that was easyâ.
âWhat do you mean?â
âI donât know about you, but Iâm pretty certain youâve made your decision, you just need to tell Leah, and the others. Trust me, once they get over their hurt egos, and feelings of betrayal they will be happy for you, and Leah has already been caught off guard by you onceâ.
âYeah okay, where is my number one supporter by the way?â
âOh she is downstairs with Charli, I thought it was best if I left her down there so we could have an adult conversation, but I have this which you might want.â She hands you your room key, âget the stuff youâll need for tonight and tomorrow, you can have a sleepover with harper and me tonight, she is going to be so excited.â
âY/N/N!â Harper exclaims when she walked into her room to find you sitting there.
âHarperâ you exclaim back matching her energy, she jumps into your arms, and you throw her into the air and catch her, before jumping onto the bed, âwhat do you want to do?â
âIce cream?â you look over to Mini.
âWhy not, letâs goâ. You Mini and Harper go out to ice-cream together, as you walk past the others in the common room you just ignore them, they all seem to be sitting in an awkward silence.
âHarper, you are all sticky, where are the wipes?â you exclaim as harper smushes her sticky face into you for a hug after she had finished her ice-cream.
âHere,â Mini slides the wipes over to you.
âNo donât, hey come back here,â Mini pulls her phone out to film the two of you, harper is running around the park to get away from you and youâre chasing her with a wipe in either hand.
âHa, got you,â you say as you grab her, proceeding to wipe her sticky face and hands.
âPark?â âYou want to go play in the park?â Harper nods her head, so you take her hand and walk over to the park together, you spent most of the afternoon in the park. You pushed harper on the swings. Unsuccessfully taught her how to pump herself on the swings. You went down the slide, a few too many times. Your afternoon was finished off by teacher harper how to do the monkey bars, which she was very good at â with help of course. Mini sat at the table while you two played, she looked up every now and then to check things were okay, but she seemed to make many phone calls, usually you would ask who it was, but you were having too much fun with harper to care.
_____
âI just wonât have dinner tonight, Iâll be fine,â âNo, you will be going to dinner, Tony said he wanted everyone there, especially after what happened today, and no one is allowed to leave until he has spoken to usâ you huff âCome on lets go now, you can sit with us, just sit at one of the back tables, you can then sit somewhere so you donât have to see them,â Mini said as she dragged you up.
âHere take her, go sit, Iâll get food,â Mini says handing Harper to you as you walk into the dining room, Â there are only 4 people in there currently not including you three, yet somehow one of the people you really donât want to see is standing at the food bar. You go and find a seat, Mini comes back, with food. You have finished yours, but Harper hasnât even touched her diner, she insists you feed her, so that you do, until Mini saw something.
âUm,â âWhat?â âIâll message you,â she pulls out her phone, you phone vibrates on the table, and you quickly pick it up to read her message.
Gorry: Steph just walked in, gave Sam a dirty look as she walked past and Sat down at a different table.
Your jaw drops and Mini nods her head, you make questioning eyebrows at her and she just shrugs. You two captains always sat next to each other during mealtimes, or at least at the same table, you were often seen with them too but every now and then you sat with others, trying to expand your social circle. So, the fact that they arenât sitting together is very odd.
After everyone had basically finished their dinner Tony got up, and started to talk, âGirls, I would just like to say the behaviour today was unacceptable, and I am extremely ashamed at the actions of our captains and older teammates, if anything it was our youngest teammate who showed the most maturity by walking away. Please know that if this sort of behaviour ever happens again on camp there will be punishment, and Iâm not just talking laps. Steph and Sam can I talk to you outside please, the rest of you are free to enjoy your night.â
âI canât believe I am having to do this girl, and I still canât believe I saw what I saw this afternoon.â Tony starts yelling at your captains not realising the door hasnât shut completely.
âWait what happened? Why am I not getting in trouble, he wasnât there was he?â you ask Mini.
âI donât know, and no he wasnâtâ.
âOh boy did you two miss something, it was kind of good you left when you did,â Macca started.
âYeah so basically once you had gotten harper and left, Steph finally broke the really awkward silence and asked Sam why she reacted the way she did when you said Arsenal raised and then Barca and Chelsea did again, and Sam was like âShe is only sixteen and getting paid more than me, and Iâm assuming you tooâ, which to be honest was a low blow, like she just attacked Steph there but anyway, Steph then said âWell, yeah she is fucking goodâ, and Sam replied âoh course you would say that,â Steph asked her what she meant and she was like âoh well sheâs your little mini me, always with you, always coming to you for help, and you always drop everything to help her, you act as if she is the sun and we all revolve around herâ which obviously Steph was taken aback by and was like âOh, so now Iâm the bad guy for not only fulfilling my captain duties but being a nice person, you know Sam we are meant to be approachable and help our teammates especially the younger ones, and of course she comes to me for help, sheâs a kid, like we joke Kyra and Charli and all that are kids but she is actually a kid, you have to take more care with her, help her more, help her understand. Just because your ego is hurt at the fact that a 16-year-old is going to get paid more than you and you donât know how to feel because a 16-year-old is better than you doesnât mean you can take it out on me, and you are blind if you actually were surprised that Barca and Chelsea raised their offers again, she is incredible, will be the player of her generation,â and then Sam just scoffed and was like âwhatever you suck upâ and then Tony walked in and got super mad and send us all to different rooms and stuffâ Hayley gives you both a brief recount of the day.
âYeah, you really did miss a lot,â
âYeah, it seems we did,â
âBut wait Steph was protecting me, I thought she was having a go at me? I think I was just so mad at Sam; I kept it goingâ.
âYeah no, originally I donât know if she was having a go or just questioning but after you left, she really did confront Sam and I mean Sam was in the wrong, Steph couldâve just dealt with it in a better way.â
_____
âI think someone is tired, should we head up?â you say, after Harper yawns, looking at Mini for confirmation who nods, you pick harper up and rest her on your hip, she puts her head on your shoulders and her eyes start to droop. Once you arrive to your room you get dressed into your Pjs and so does Harper, you both already have had your showers for the day.
A phone vibrates and look over to mini, âthat was youâ, so you pick up your phone to see a message from Steph.
Steph: Hey can we talk? I understand if you donât want too.
You: Hey um yeah but itâs easier if we message, Harper has fallen asleep on top of me.
Steph: Yeah, no thatâs fine, I donât know if Iâm allowed to come out of our room anyway and if you even allowed to come in.
You: Oh
Steph: But I just wanted to say sorry for what happened this afternoon, I was out of line, and I just want to apologise, I am really sorry.
You: For what happened when I was there or what you said to Sam?
You: But in all honesty, itâs okay, I was getting defensive at Sam and snapped at you when you didnât deserve it you were just questioning. But also thank you for stepping up and confronting Sam for me even if it got you in trouble.
Steph: Wait who told you about that?
Steph: But I was just telling her the truth and really, I shouldâve stopped her earlier, it shouldnât have gotten to the point that you had to walk away.
You: Itâs okay Steph, I promise I forgive you but maybe not Sam, at least not yet. She was mean to both of us.
Steph: Okay, I will make it up to you I promise.
You: Hmmm, I will think about what I wantâŠ..
Steph: I never said I would by you anything, maybe I was just going to be nice, get you out of fitness testing
You: Hey no, that isnât nice, I looove fitness testing
Steph: Weirdo
You: Hey
You: Love you heaps, good night (well not for you but for me), see you tomorrow, I canât wait to see you! I have so much to tell you.
You: Shit that was meant for Leah not you
You: But love you anyway, see you in the morning.
Steph: Love you, sorry again, night night
_____
You were standing at the breakfast bar contemplating your morning meal like you were contemplating life when you saw Steph walk in, you immediate walked over to her and hugged her, in which she returned wrapping her arms around you tightly as if to never let go, you could really sense her guilt, you stayed like that for at least a minute and only pulled away because Sam wanted to talk to you.
âHey, Iâm sorry for yesterday, I shouldnât have said what I said, and Iâm really sorryâ she said very awkwardly.
âOkay, thank you.â You say bluntly before walking away.
âWhat so she is hugging you, but I donât even get an I forgive you?â
âWell, she doesnât like lying and I donât think she does forgive you yet,â Steph said before walking away and following you.

what's your favorite landoscar habit? it can be something they do around each other or alone
mine is prob when theyre getting interviewed together and end up having a small convo with e/o as an answer. like it's they just have to consult e/o đ
ohhh what a delightful question for a saturday morning tysm anon! lovely excuse to go back through my mctwinks tag đ
okay i had to pick a few bc i couldnât narrow it down any further:
landoâs active listening tics. he mainly does this in marketing videos or the kind of interviews where heâs got to ask oscar questions, and itâs that eager head-nodding and expectant đ face and he sort of does little micro-expressions to react to whatever oscarâs saying? you can see it in this interview and especially this one and i find it SO endearing. and one of my favourite lando moments ever, the âheartbeatâ reaction when oscar mentions him in the season round-up.
the vocal cadence matching!! iâve mentioned how much i love this before but it really does make me fuzzy inside so iâm talking about it again. lando in general is an accent sponge and unconsciously mirrors whoever heâs talking to a lot so i think this is again more of a lando habit than an oscar habit, but occasionally they both do it to each other and it becomes a glorious feedback loop â the most ridiculous example being little smoothie, where they match each otherâs cadences for pretty much the entire conversation.
iâm going to explain this quite incoherently but like, the space oscar gives lando to be his weird self? itâs related to the acts of service thing but itâs the specific way he corrects him and finishes his sentences for him but itâs so gently done and he never makes a big production out of it, never embarrasses lando or makes him feel stupid. he ribs lando (like the âmorning latteâ moment and the very subtle duh inflection of âaustraliaâ when lando asks him what countries are in the southern hemisphere đ) but itâs in a way that leaves lando space to be his funny, idiosyncratic self yk?? did i explain that even vaguely well. is this thing on
andddd finally â again this is kinda related to the above and also to your point about the constant lil convos they have, and iâve kind of just said the same thing in about five different ways in this post â but the way they both constantly, silently check in with each other!! the constant little glances, prompting each other, finishing each othersâ sentences. lando checking oscarâs not miffed by him laughing about his not-great quali lap in zandvoort! glancing at each other reliving the onlyfans moment when theyâre asked what theyâd do if they werenât drivers! the constant non-verbal communication going on in an around the verbal conversations theyâre constantly getting sidetracked by too! itâs like thereâs another commentary track playing at all times just for them.
augh! them!

Itâs a perfect morning for a hike.
The chill dusts Yakuâs nose as a soft winter kiss, his hot breathing tearing up his throat as he pushed onwards.
His thighs strain with pleasant effort, the slope harsh and unforgiving under his well broken-in boots, a stone breaking free of the thin, frozen layer of snow to bounce down behind him. They're all familiar sensations, worn into his skin almost as deeply as the court.
With one difference.
A gasp heaves behind Yaku. He turns back to his companion, who is bent over, hands on his knees.
âWow, you really have left yourself go, huh?â
âShut ââ here one of Kurooâs hands lifts weakly, flagging his words. ââ the fuck ââ
âIâm waiting.â
âUp.â
The last line is delivered with a laboured expulsion of breath. Kurooâs hand drops back to his knee, his gulping of air audible to even where Yaku is standing. He grins.
Kuroo had always been a single step faster than him in high school, and even in the early years of university he could hold his own; itâs nice to get the upper hand for once.
Yet something needles at Yaku; a slight twinge in his knee. A reminder that he, too, is getting older.
âIâm sorry,â Kuroo continues, straightening up. âThat I canât keep up with an Olympian while having an actual career.â
An actual career, huh?
Kuroo probably hadnât meant it like that, but Yaku becomes aware of a pit in his gut, one that had been growing since he hit thirty. It seemed to swallow good moments with the overwhelming knowledge of time, and Yaku hadnât adjusted to it yet.
âYour career is literally making my career a viable thing.â
âSemantics.â
"I don't think you know what that word means."
"I don't think you know either."
Yaku flips up his middle finger at him, and Kuroo cracks a grin, trudging up alongside Yaku.
âIâm good to go for a while longer.â
âI can carry you, if youâd like.â
The answering glare that Kuroo gives him makes Yaku grin again, the movement of his cheeks feeling welcome, as if dislodging a layer of frost.
The camera shutter noise rings out alone in the deserted, slumbering mountains.
âShame Kai couldnât see this,â Yaku mentions as he sends the photo to him.
âYeah, Iâm sure heâs devastated,â Kuroo says. âBeing flown in to Australia to consult on Japanese flora there instead of waking up at an obscene hour for a hike must be so awful for him.â
âHis girlfriend got a ticket too, didnât she?â
âYeah.â Kuroo sighs, resting his hands on his hips. âWell, fiancĂ© now. He had a plus one, and I can't believe that he brought his fiancĂ© instead of say, one of his best friends ofâŠâ
He scrunches his brows, hesitating. Yaku wants to laugh.
âDonât strain yourââ
âEighteen years!â
âThere you go,â Yaku says encouragingly, and Kuroo shoots him a death glare.
âDonât pretend that you were any better at me at math.â
Sticking out his tongue, Yaku winks at him. "At least I'm not the one who called Akaashi at two in the morning, crying over his project finance homework."
"He told you that?! And I wasn't crying, just on the verge of tears -"
"Like that's any better."
It works, as it always had. Kuroo doesn't notice Yaku speeding up, doesn't notice how they move faster when sunk into arguing. Maybe he does, and chooses to say nothing.
The sunrise is a haze of orange and pink, and Yaku thinks that it looks beautiful. It shines against the snow-patched hillsides, throwing up brilliant glares as it spreads across the mountains, claiming them for the morning. Here and there, a grey cluster of rocks emerge from the snow, as if waking up.
He glances across at Kuroo. Kuroo, who had agreed to take a day off of the work he loved so dearly to join Yaku at ass oâclock in the morning to clamber up a mountain to catch a sunrise.
Heâd sounded tired on the phone when Yaku had called, just at the end of his workday, just long enough for Kuroo to run into his bossâ office and tell him that he needed the day tomorrow â yes, he apologised for the short notice, yes, he had everything in order â and then returning to Yaku to curse him out for forcing him to do that.
Yaku had asked why he wasnât the boss yet, how come his career was flatlining, and Kurooâs swearing at him had increased at a rate Yaku hadnât thought possible before.
Yet heâs here.
âI missed this,â Yaku says.
âYeah,â Kuroo agrees. His tone is a little wistful, softened by the sight in front of them. âI canât remember the last time I went hiking.â
He's here, with his hands set on his hips, his chest driving out with each hard breath. There's unmistakable satisfaction in the curl of his lips.
âBetter than lazing about on the beach, huh?â Yaku comments, moving closer to elbow Kuroo in the side. âGlad to hear youâve seen the light.â
âHey, that was not me saying that mountains are better.â
âNot yet.â
Yaku grins up at him, and he sees the edges of Kurooâs lips curve upwards in response, despite trying to cling onto the mask of annoyance. His gaze wanders upwards, over Kurooâs rough cheeks, a dayâs worth of black stubble sprouting up, to the almost invisible scar on his cheekbone left from one of Fukunagaâs âinventions,â to rest on the grey bags beneath his eyes.
Cradled in the delicate glow of the sunrise, Tetsurou feels familiar and strange, all at once.
The pit stretches its muscles inside Yakuâs gut again, the pit that consumes his friendsâ lives and leaves men in their places that Yaku only half-knows. His absence had been a choice.
He doesnât regret it, but he acknowledges the painful consequences.
Swallowing, he turns back to the sunrise, and thinks he feels a wave of warmth from it. Kuroo is still a bachelor. Yaku has waited over a decade, expecting him to be one of those consequences, one that he paid the moment he chose to pursue volleyball professionally. He wets his dry, cracked lips, and glances up at Kuroo again.
Kurooâs face is awash with an orange tint, and there are folds Yaku doesnât recognise, smile lines faded into his skin, his bone structure just a fraction more prominent than before. Yaku wants to relearn all of it â maybe even better than before. His eyes are creased up in the way they always did when he was considering something; his tongue working within his mouth.
âIâd have brought you here sooner if I knew this is what made you speechless,â he says, and Kurooâs removed, thoughtful expression vanishes. It's replaced by a flicker of a fondness, a momentary splinter before his usual laid-back expression settles in.
Instead of a snarky retort, Kuroo only leans his forearm on Yakuâs shoulder. He's heavy. Yaku can feel his body heat, revved up from the walk, radiating against his side.
âYouâd get bored without my quick wit,â Kuroo proclaims. âWe can't ever go to a mountain peak at sunrise again. Only beaches from now on, I think.â
He flashes a smile down at Yaku, and Yaku, after climbing up a tough trail for two hours, now, only now, feels woozy. He wasnât a stranger to how Kuroo makes him feel. Heâd been ignoring it for years.
Consequences.
Yaku looks down at Kurooâs hand, jutting past his shoulder, dangling in the air. Heâd stripped off his gloves at some point during their hike, and the tips of his fingers are tinged with a dusty pink, just visible through the brown. Theyâre lined. Yaku thinks of Kuroo telling him how his last relationship didnât work out, that they wanted different things.
For the first time in a long time, Yaku stares at a Japanese sunrise and thinks of coming home.
Bending his elbow, he reaches up and takes Kurooâs warm hand in his, interlacing their fingers. Beside him, Kuroo shifts his weight; taking more off of Yaku.
One last time, Yaku upturns his face to meet Kurooâs gaze. His whole body is buzzing with the risk heâd just taken, but Kurooâs steady eye contact grounds him; reminds him that theyâd be alright, no matter what.
He inhales the crisp air, tasting a new day.
Waits.
âYouâre serious?â
Kurooâs voice is low, stripped of all and any teasing edge.
Yaku nods.
âIâm serious.â

Hey what happened in the 2020 season with Alex? (Sorry new fan and still learning)
omg you never need to apologise to me for not knowing things i literally know nothing
the 2020 season from the alexnation perspective was like being in a hamster ball being hurled around for 5 months straight basically but hereâs the breakdown:
so for context 2019 was really really good for alex he was promoted as a rookie and he shunted a fair few times and most of the time wasnât on maxs quali pace but red bull were the third quickest team so he wasnât expected to win or anything. alex ultimately beat pierres points tally from his 12 races in the red bull within 7 as a rookie so like. whilst it was insane behaviour for red bull to promote him in the first place he did perform phenomenally
then we turn to 2020 pre season testing. mercedes was dominant as per (dreamy sigh) and the red bull was quick but looked. edgy. for both alex and max but ferrari were fucking nowhere so it was still like really positive for red bull bc it was basically two extra places gained and then. global pandemic. and then as a footnote to the whole you know. global pandemic. sebastian vettel was dumped from the love island villa (ferrari (everyone gasped))
and then! triple header one and the first race in austria had max running an upgraded front wing and none for alex and it was like understood i think like it wasnât a big deal at the time
and then everything that could have possibly happened. happened. in the race and alex and lewisâŠyeah. but the world did in fact keep spinning!
and then alex got p4 in the second austria race (altho. significantly off of maxs pace in p3 for sureee) and everyone was like if only max had a rear gunner (wistful) which in my opinion is an insult to lewis and the w11 but whatever. nothing else really happened here other than horner and marko making kissy faces at seb during this time but thatâs just contextfkdkd
so then the next race in hungary alex qualified p13 and even though max only qualified p7 and it was the third race of the season alex was getting eaten alive and george was on live tv like red bull are making him look like an idiot and heâs not an idiot and they need to fix it for him and it was like fucking hell what is going ONNN we havenât even made it to the third race yet (like imagine anyone coming out and declaring this after australia quali this year like. wild scenes)
so then one week break and then triple header two started and during the races at silverstone they start talking in the media about when the best time to demote alex is even though the only times heâd finished outside the top six was brazil 2019 and austria 2020 which. pls consult youtube if you need further info here
they also changed alexs race engineer in silverstone so More turbulence altho completely welcome this time (simon rennie come back we love u, ur so sexc haha x)
then during the final triple header 2 race in barcelona he gets put on the most ass strategy known to man like with context this was criminal behaviour actually
and then one week break and then triple header 3 starts (do you feel like a hamster yet) at spa and unbeknownst to us all at the time but later confirmed by will buxton and dts horner is in the mf pitlane in spa propositioning seb like one more year and then you can come home which. have some decorum alex is behind you in the garage. but anyway in the general media everyone was gagging for pierreâs red bull return so there were bigger fish
anyway. SPA. they did this to my boy
and alex made the best out of it but as per the comeback kid episode of dts that everyone loves (đ) alex was made out to be useless and it was like. wtf did you expect
THEN between spa and monza helmut marko was like oh btw alex hasnât actually had the same parts as max for most races this year okay bye and alexnation was likeâŠwtf. but then no one else really cared and it was like UMMM OKAY
and then monza happened and alex was in a first lap sandwich involving pierre and then second lap crashed into grosjean (alexs fault - live laugh love x) and had a huge chunk of his floor missing so finished p nowhere and then. pierre won and good for her i guess but then ex drivers were on live tv demanding alex step down for pierre which like no one has ever done this in the history of the sport as far as im aware so it was fucking savage especially when this was the first race alex had finished outside of the points for red bull in (with the exception of the two aforementioned events)
and then mugello wooooooooooooo!! alexs first podium!!!!!! i was gassed at the time but it was sort of sad looking back like if you listen to his team radio across the line from getting p7 in canada and then compare it to his first podium in mugello itâs. yeah! we were enduring it!!
and then sochi happened in its own weird bubble and alex was nowhere really got caught behind carlos hitting the wall at the first corner after a poor quali and that was that
then. triple header number four starts with horner giving alex an ultimatum of weâre backing you but we want results in the next three races or ur finished hunny which. okay
then first race of the triple header max ends up blocking alex in his quali run (live laugh love 2.0 x) and then:
YEAH
nurburgring was the they race me so hard incident. available to view elsewhere bc god knows im not reliving that!!
imola was again nightmarish. red bull media team said alex was working with a mental coach (patrick his trainer had got mental health qualifications basically) and was supporting him etc which. here comes paul di resta live on air laughing about how max wouldnât need mental support. it was once again. brutal. especially bc he was getting a load of xenophobic abuse online already like fuck off
back on the track alex basically spun on his own but thought he had been hit and no one thought to tell him before he went into the media pen that he hadnât actually been hit so it was fucking awkward and yeah twitter was brutal again
then istanbul happened. red bull looked promising but both max and alex finished well off so it was just whatever really lewis did a madness no one really cared about red bull
then final three races of the season started with the grosjean crash in bahrain which ended with alex on the podium and then checo won sakhir and alex wasnât really there and then we were at the final race in abu dhabi where red bull officially signed checo (as confirmed by will buxtons analysis of the curtains. god i canât believe this season was real)
but alex didnât find out for like two weeks later when the season was well and truly over and was taking drinks to the factory for everyone and it was heartbreaking and then he didnât have a seat and spent the next year saying it killed him so. yeahâŠTA-DA
#tldr: nearly every round of the 2020 season had smth traumatic happen#and like i donât think alex would beat max over the course of a season maybe ever but watching the events of this year was just cruel#asks#anon#alex albon

On to my second request!
Pairing: Loki x Fem!Reader
Scene: One way or another, Loki is now part of the Avengers. Y/N isn't an agent at S.H.I.E.L.D., she works an ordinary job ( i.e. architect, consultant, or sales rep...etc.) but is friends/related to some agents.
Request: Y/N is set up on a fancy blind date to meet up with an agent her friend said was a perfect match for her and Loki is undercover for an intel gathering mission and needs a partner to look less suspicious. He's not her usual type, but she trusts her friend and decides to see it through. Could you please write about the two going through the blind date, she not realizing he is the wrong person until the end of the night. I'll leave the ending of whether or not they actuality end up dating or just stay friends up to you!
The Blind Date? (Part 1 of 4)
Part 2 | Part 3 & 4 in progress
Pairing: Loki x female reader
Warnings: none...? Loki annoying Thor, a vague history of terrible dates, mentions of mob activity (I guess)... idk I'm hoping for a bit funny at first then fluff in the second or third part
Summary: Your friend sets you up on a blind date with someone she works with at SHIELD but you accidentally end up on a mission with Loki
POV: This goes back and forth between Y/N's perspective and Loki's (and if you don't like how I call it Y/N POV and Loki POV... I don't care lol we've all had this convo before and you know damn well what I mean so here goes)
A/N: @soubi001 I love this idea!! I really hope you like this, I'm so sorry it took such a long time and I'm sorry it seems to be getting really long so I'm making it a few parts đ thanks for listening to me ramble about this one @michelleleewise

(Y/N POV)
"Oh come on, it'll be fun," Michelle urges but you shake your head then hide behind the flimsy plastic menu. "Don't you trust me?" she asks with a wide smile as she reaches across your other friend to tap on the back of your menu.
"Not even a little," you reply slowly in a serious tone.
She scoffs dramatically, leaning back in her chair as she holds her hand over her heart, "Wow Y/N, that really hurts." You stifle a laugh as she turns her attention to the woman sitting between you at the bar, "Can you believe her Jess?"
"Well... you don't exactly have a good track record with setting her up on blind dates," Jess answers, putting her menu down. Michelle rolls her eyes and she continues, "I mean, let's be honest, the last few guys you set her up with were-"
"Horrible," you finish her sentence, looking up from your menu.
"I was going to say not great, but horrible works," Jess agrees with a nod.
"Ugh," Michelle groans, clearly annoyed Jess sided with you on the subject. "Ok, so maybe there were a few duds here and there-"
"A few?" you ask quickly.
"I'll admit, Mark was definitely a jerk... and I guess I should have known Danny wouldn't be your type but they weren't all that bad. You have to give me some credit," Michelle says, not giving up.
"Let's see... Fred was an hour late with literally no excuse then he got annoyed when I didn't want to go to his place after. Kevin brought his cat to the restaurant in a backpack and talked to Mr. Pickles more than me. Derek kept eating off of my plate without asking and he took my leftovers. Toby was into all these weird conspiracy theories and thought Australia wasn't a real place-" you count each person on your fingers as Jess laughs hysterically at your string of terrible blind dates.
"I get it!" she practically yells, cutting you off before you can continue. "But seriously, this guy really is perfect for you. I promise."
"No. Absolutely not," you tell her, crossing your arms as you lean back in your chair. "You've set me up with enough weirdos. I'm not doing it."
"Just this last one," she pleads. "And if it doesn't work out, I'll never set you up with anyone ever again. Jess can be your witness."
You sigh and rub your eyes. "I'm not getting out of this am I?" you ask Jess.
She looks over at Michelle before answering than shakes her head, "Nope, doesn't look like it." She then adds, "Better you than me."
"Thanks," you say sarcastically. You can practically feel Michelle buzzing with nervous energy as you try to think of a way to avoid what is almost guaranteed to be another terrible blind date. After a few moments of silence you breath deeply then throw your hands up in defeat. "Fine... tell me what's so amazing about this guy," you tell her.
"Ok ok ok, so..." Michelle starts excitedly. "He's new to the city, he just moved here with his older brother a couple of months ago. He keeps to himself so he hasn't really made friends with anyone at work," she explains.
"Oh good, so he's anti-social," Jess comments and you can't hold back a laugh.
"What? No," she says then glares at Jess, "You're not helping."
"I wasn't trying to help," your friend smirks.
Michelle groans and looks directly at you, "Ignore her. He's not anti-social, I think he's just a bit on the quiet side. He reads a ton so you guys have that in common."
Jess interrupts again, "Unless he's into smut about fantasy characters I doubt they've read any of the same books recently."
"I read other stuff too," you respond, hitting her shoulder lightly but she raises an eyebrow at you.
"Can I continue?" Michelle asks and you both nod. "So he's super tall and he has a really sexy accent."
"Now those are two things you can definitely build a lasting relationship on," Jess comments and you cover your mouth with your hand to quiet your laughter.
Michelle clears her throat loudly and Jess avoids making eye contact with her. "Do I need to remind you that you are only engaged to Sebastian because I set you two up on a blind date two years ago?" Michelle asks Jess.
"No..." she answers sheepishly. "I'll be quiet."
"Good, now as I was saying..." Michelle's tone becomes excited again. "You're going to love him. Trust me."
You bite your lip then say, "Ok, I trust you. But if he's not totally amazing..."
"I'll never set you up with anyone ever again," she agrees to your terms with a smile. "I'll talk to him Monday at work to set it up."
(LOKI POV)
"Ah, there you are, brother," Thor's loud voice echoes through the small library. You sigh deeply, setting your tea on the small table next to you. You mutter a greeting in response but don't look up from your book as you turn the page. "What are you reading?" he asks as he settles into one of the leather chairs across from you.
"A book," you reply, "You have heard of those I assume."
"You know that is not what I meant," he says, you can't help but smirk in response to his annoyed tone. After a brief pause, you finally tell him the title of your book and he nods although you know he has never heard of it.
You continue to read, assuming he will grow tired of you ignoring him but after several minutes your curiosity gets the better of you. "Is there something you need brother, or did you truly come to the library to watch me read?" you ask, your eyes still fixed to your book.
"Peter told me you asked him to delete the dating profile he had set up for you," he says.
"I did," you confirm as you turn the page again. "I do not see how this is any concern of yours."
"You only had it for a week," he states.
"That was six days longer than I required it," you reply.
"Did you match with someone that quickly?" he asks in surprise.
You shrug, you hadn't opened the app once after the boy had installed it for you, "No and I doubt I would have. I do not need a computer to solve a problem I do not have."
He sighs, "Loki, you cannot spend all of your free time alone, hiding in the library."
"I am not hiding," you look up finally, closing your book. "And I do not spend all of my free time here, sometimes I read in the park or my room."
He puts his hand over his face and groans. "You know we are going to be on Midgard for the foreseeable future, brother," he reminds you unnecessarily. "It is not good for you to be alone all of the time. How about I ask Jane if she knows anyone you could spend time with? We could even go on a double date, that might be fun."
"As thrilling as that sounds," you say as you roll your eyes. "I am perfectly fine alone. Thank you for your concern, now if you wouldn't mind," you open your book again and wave your hand towards the door.
Before he can respond, the door to the library opens and a SHIELD agent with a tablet enters. She only takes a few steps inside and says, "Captain Rogers needs you to report to the briefing room in fifteen minutes."
You smile to yourself, hoping this new mission will occupy your brother for at least a few days. Thor rubs his hands together and stands up but the agent shakes her head. Thor pauses and she says, "Oh, actually... it looks like this mission is for Loki. Sorry Thor, maybe next time."
You chuckle at the obvious disappointment on his face as you stand up, your book vanishing into your pocket dimension with a flick of your wrist. "Well brother, it looks as though this uninteresting little chat of ours will have to wait until I return," you smirk as you walk past him.
(LOKI POV)
"Ok team," Stark says when everyone has taken their seats at the large oval table. "This is going to be strictly a recon mission. As most of you know the Sokovian mob has begun opening a large number of restaurants in Manhattan, Philadelphia and Boston. It's been confirmed that the majority of these establishments are being used as fronts for illegal gambling tournaments, money laundering and other criminal activities."
"Such a waste, cause the food is supposed to be really good," Barton says in a joking tone.
Natasha laughs while Rogers crosses his arms and gives Barton a disapproving look. Stark ignores the comment and continues, "Up until now we have been letting state and local law enforcement handle the mob as they normally would but there's been a new development that puts them on our radar. We just received intel that there is going to be a meeting between several members of the Sokovian mob family and two high ranking members of Hydra."
"That can't be anything good," Natasha says. "Does the intel give any details about what they might be meeting about?"
"No," Rogers answers. "That's why we need you and Laufeyson to go undercover as a couple on a date, so you can record their conversation." He opens a small metal case and continues, "You will also need to plant these four listening devices in various locations in the restaurant. Hill has mapped them out for you." You open the folder in front of you again, flipping to the floor plan of the restaurant. Hill added several notes and suggested locations for the devices.
"Since the goal of this mission is to plant the bugs, record their meeting and then get out without being noticed you'll both need to alter your appearance," Hill says to you and Natasha.
You stand up confidently, "That shouldn't be an issue." You hold your arms out slightly at your sides as a green glow surrounds you in a flash. "What do you think?" you ask, running your fingers through your unruly blonde curls. You adjust your dark rimmed glasses then roll up the sleeves on your deep blue sweater.
"Yea..." Stark says. "I'm not sure the professor look is quiet what we were talking about. You're still-"
"Incredibly handsome," you smirk.
"I was going to say tall," he rolls his eyes. "You only changed your hair and added glasses, you still look like you. Try becoming someone no one will notice."
"Ah, yes. One moment," you say then with a second flash of green your appearance changes again.
"Oh come on," Rogers says loudly. He throws his hands up and turns away from you then back quickly.
You look down at yourself and chuckle, you can't remember the last time you were this small. You crane your neck to look up at the Captain who is now almost a foot taller then you.
"What kind of game is this Laufeyson?" he asks.
You feign innocence, "I was merely following Stark's suggestion. I imagine very few people would turn their heads if I walked by as you, the pre-serum version of course."
Natasha and Barton try to contain their laughter while Stark steps between you and Rogers. "Very funny," he says sarcastically. "You get one more chance..." he warns and you nod, clearing your throat as a green glow surrounds you again.
"That's more like it," Hill says and Stark nods in agreement. You shrug, unimpressed with your current form. You reduced your usual height by nearly six inches, changed your hair color to light brown and shortened the length. Your features are different as well, your eyes becoming a dark brown, ensuring that you are completely unrecognizable.
"May I ask, what are your plans?" you turn your attention to the spy.
She smiles and takes a small device out of a pocket on her belt, placing it behind her ear. She taps the device and her face changes right before your eyes. "Its a Photostatic Veil, or Nano Mask depending on who you ask. They are nano-sized holographic cells that can change a person's features and even their voice," she explains in a flawless British accent.
"Impressive," you say with a slight nod as she turns it off. After an hour of discussing the minor details of the mission, you finally head back to your room to finish your book in peace.
(Y/N POV)
You close the door to your apartment and kick off your shoes then you walk quickly into your kitchen to set your grocery bags on the counter. You reach into your pocket and answer your phone.
"Hi Y/N," the voice on the other end greets you happily.
"Hey Michelle," you reply. You hold the phone against your ear with your shoulder as you begin to unload the groceries. "How's it going?"
"Fantastic," she says and you can tell by her voice that the date is on. "So... I talked to him at lunch today and he is definitely looking forward to seeing you this weekend."
"Great," you tell her, trying to sound enthusiastic. Maybe this wouldn't be a complete disaster like all the others, you think hopefully.
"He said he wants to try one of those new Sokovian restaurants," Michelle says. "I hear the food is amazing."
You laugh, "Me too. They seem to be all over the city all of a sudden."
"Perfect, so it's all set. This Saturday at 7, on the corner of 3rd Avenue and East 6th street," she says, pausing for a moment before adding, "Write it down, so you don't forget."
"I'm not going to forget," you mumble as you roll your eyes.
"I can practically hear you rolling your eyes at me. Look, we both know you have the memory of a goldfish. Write it down," she jokes but you know better then to argue with her.
You grab a pad and pen from one of the drawers in your kitchen and write down the time and address. "There, I made a note," you tell her. You tear off the piece of paper dramatically so she can hear it over the phone then stick it to your fridge with a magnet.
"Good," she laughs.
"So..." you pause. "Does the mystery man have a name?"
"He does," she answers.
"Do I have to guess it?" you ask.
"I'm not telling you," she says, "The last time I told you a guys name before a date, you googled him so much you could have written his biography."
"That's fair, I guess," you admit.
"Oh, I've got to go," she says, you can hear her dogs barking in the background. "I'll text you later."
"Ok, bye," you say just before she hangs up. You put the last of the items in the fridge and check your note.
(LOKI POV)
"Since Natasha got called away for a mission with Thor, you're going to need to find someone in the restaurant to use as cover. You'll be far less noticeable if you aren't sitting at the bar alone for hours. If you can, get a table as close to the targets as possible," Rogers instructs you.
"I doubt I'll have any issues finding a lovely young lady to spend my evening with," you respond as Hill hands you a small earpiece to use during the mission and the listening devices. After shifting into your undercover form, you straighten your tie and comb your hair with your fingers. Checking yourself in the small mirror you shrug, this is as good as you are going to look.
You reach for the door handle and Rogers stops you. "Remember Laufeyson, you're still on probation and this is officially your first solo mission. Stay on script and under the radar," he reminds you. "You don't want to give us any reason to reconsider the deal we made with Thor. Fury and Tony would have no issues sending you right back to Asgard if anything goes wrong."
You nod silently, not wanting to admit how well you understood the gravity of your current situation. You clear your throat then sarcastically say, "Its heartwarming to see how much confidence the team has in me."
"Just don't make us regret trusting you," he responds as you step out of the van.
Putting your hands in your coat pockets, you turn the corner from 6th Avenue onto West 3rd Street. The restaurant is visible roughly halfway down the street. When you step inside, you can see most of the tables full and the bar is crowded. The hostess walks over to you with a friendly smile and asks if you need a table.
"I'm actually supposed to be meeting a blind date here. Would it be alright if I checked to see if she was waiting for me at the bar?" you ask.
"Of course," the woman replies and you walk past her towards the back of the restaurant.
As you get closer you see several groups of friends, a few couples but only one woman sitting by herself. She is alternating between staring at her phone anxiously and looking around the room. Clearly she is waiting for someone, you think to yourself, but she is your best opportunity at the moment. You take a few more steps towards her and chuckle quietly as an idea quickly forms. You adjust your illusion so she will be the only one in the restaurant to see you as yourself and decide to go on a date, as your brother has so often suggested.
(Y/N POV)
You hold your phone nervously, seeing a new text from Michelle letting you know he was at the restaurant. You look up, scanning the large space but you have no idea who you are looking for. Suddenly your heart stops when you see Loki walking towards you with a smile.
This can't be happening, you think to yourself. Michelle worked for SHIELD but you knew she barely interacted with the Avengers or even the agents. She was on the technical side, working at least ten floors below them in the Tower. He had to be your date though, you quickly reasoned. Just moved here with his brother... really tall... sexy accent, that all sounds like what little you knew of Loki.
You look down at your phone and text Michelle, "I found him." You slide it into your pocket and get up from the stool as Loki approaches you.
"Hello darling," he says smoothly.
"Hi, I'm Y/N," you introduce yourself with a smile. You feel your phone go off but without reading the message, you put it on silent.

A Sonny Disposition || Tim LaFlour x F!OC || Chapter 001
Synopsis: Sonny, a freshman at Stratford University, is a bubbly and hyper-feminine fashion design student all the way from Australia. She's excited to be on her own for the first time, but settling into independence is proving to be more complicated than she anticipated. Thankfully, fellow student, piercing-lover punk, and hockey ingenue Tim LaFlour lives in the same apartment building as her and is more than willing to lend a helping handâeven if they seem to be from completely separate worlds. What will they learn from each other? What will they have the patience to teach each other?
Genre/tags: Pure fluff, no smut. A friends-to-lovers slow burn romance with mutual pining. Imagine two golden retrievers crushing hard on each other p much!! Slight age difference, big size difference.
Word count: 1,850
A/N: My first fic in the Matt Lillard tag! My first fic on this blog! My first fic in a long, long time. And of course I couldn't help but start a new series. Aiming for this to be a novella/shorter chapter book. Hope y'all enjoy and please leave feedback if you have it!!
"Honestly, Auntie Steph, Uncle Bennyâ" I let out a grunt, hoisting a large suitcase and out of the back of their trunkâ "Don't worry too much about me. I'll be fine, and I know who to call in case I need any help."
They followed behind me, with Auntie Steph carrying a large dress form and Uncle Benny pushing a dolly with the rest of my things. "We know, love. We're just one call away, and your Auntie Steph has some clients downtown," Uncle Benny addressed me from behind the pile of moving boxes atop the dolly as we walked into the apartment building.
"Right. I'm down here at least twice a week," Aunt Steph said. She was a consultant for an interior design firm, handling top-tier clients. Famous actresses, hockey players, the like. I held the door open as best as I could, practically squished between the door and the railing of the small staircase up to the apartment building.
I was a few days away from starting my freshman year at Stratford University in Toronto. I was a late registrant, so by the time I got accepted, there was no housing left in the freshman dorms. Instead, I was assigned to an apartment typically reserved for the upperclassmen. It was still maintained by the university, but I supposed I still had perks. Living with the older students probably meant a bit more freedom, not that I was planning on doing much besides schoolwork.
My aunt and uncle were just like my parents, worrywarts. Except, I could at least dodge my parents somewhat; I came all the way from Australia where I've lived for the last... well, my whole life. They were busy with work so all they could do was drop me off at the airport. Between then and about an hour ago, when I met up with my aunt and uncle at the airport, I traveled alone and enjoyed it. Don't get me wrong, I love my family, and I appreciate having people who cared about me a lotâbut my goodness, could they be overbearing!
I was trying to hide my anxiousness to get rid of my aunt and uncle, but I wasn't so sure how well it was working. "I know. I've got you both on speed dial," I said, flashing them one of my signature megawatt smiles as we careened my things inside.
Like in the movies, students were bustling across the lobby, traversing its small space with ease. They looked grown up, if that makes sense. I felt intimidated, to say the least, and had half a mind to pay a visit to the chancellor's office or find someone else in charge to see if they could squeeze me into one of the freshman dorms. I would take an air duct if it was all they had.
My apartment was upstairs, at the very end of the hall on the third floor. The building seemed older, less well-kept and modern like the rest of the university. The dusty spiderwebs in the corners of the ceiling and the scratched linoleum in my room gave the whole place a nice charm, though. It was lived-in, and felt grown-up, too.
I could feel the excitement set in as Uncle Benny emptied the dolly. Eventually, they plopped onto the sunken-in, emerald green couch in the middle of the living room. I laughed, watching them take their exaggerated breaths. We were a theatrical bunch.
"Somehow, we did it," Auntie Steph said.
Uncle Benny checked his watch. "Alright, honey. It's almost lunch time. We'll get out of your hair so you can get something to eat. Remember what we said."
"Of course," I said, giving them hugs as they stood up from the couch. Real good hugs, too, like the ones I'd given my family right before I got on the plane. It was a bittersweet moment, one that marked the end of my phase as that little kid who played dress up with her Barbie dolls and the beginning of my new chapter as a fashion design student. "I love you both."
"We love you too," Aunt Steph said. "We'll send our wishes."
After they left, I was so exhausted from my long journey that I thought I'd better rest, too. With a deep breath, I landed on the couchâand heard a crack of wood underneath me. I sank a few inches.
===
"Thanks so much," I said while signing my name on a piece of paper. I looked up at the gentleman with a polite, expectant smile.
"Are ya sure you don't need our help carrying this up?" he asked, raising his eyebrow at me. Behind him, a small crew of movers were transporting my new couch into the lobby.
"Umm..." I sized the couch up and down. It was about the same size as my old one, with three cushions. Knowing my parents, they ordered me something a bit hefty so it would last longer, made of real wood and all. I had the upper body strength of a squirrel, probably, but I didn't want to look stupid in front of the movers. I was grown up, after all, doing big girl things now. Surely I could move a couch by myself. Giving them all a thumbs up, I said, "I should be able to handle it. Got some friends coming soon to help me."
"Alright," the gentleman filed my papers away and gave his crew a shrug before walking out. "Have a good day, miss."
It was just me and a couch in the lobby now. "Hmm." I circled it, feeling its plastic wrap. At least I wouldn't have to worry about the cushions flying off while I was carrying this thing. I glanced over at the elevator, which was much too small to fit the couch on (and it probably would've been over the weight limit). Then I looked up at the stairs.
Not realizing I was taking up the space in front of the main entryway to the building, I heard someone clear their throat behind me, startling me.
"Uh... need a hand?"
I didn't know where to look first, because it certainly wasn't his face. He was a tall guy, at least a foot taller than me, bleach blonde, and he wore these giant black combat boots, faded gray jeans that had more than a little distressing on them, and a cut-off t-shirt that said The Ramones on it. He had a cornucopia of piercings on his face. Their silver beads reflected under the fluorescent light. I'd never seen anyone like him before.
I was probably gawking, because a second later, he spoke again. "You okay?"
I picked my jaw up off the floor. "Yeah! Yeah, totally. I just, um..." I chuckled awkwardly, patting the top of the couch.
"Did you order this thing?"
"Yes, I did," I said confidently.
"You know, the apartments come with their own couches, right?" He couldn't hide his smile.
"Yeah," I said, not so confidently anymore. For a scary-looking guy, he had a big, friendly smile. It caught me off guard, just like the rest of him did. "Mine, um, broke."
Despite his smile, I thought he was going to chew me out and tell me to move. But he looked the couch up and down, and then looked at me at least up (my lower half was covered by the back of the couch) and said, "Right. Well, I'm cool with it being here but I don't know if the rest of the guys will be."
"Rest of the...?"
Before I knew it, a slew of boysâmen? students?âflooded into the apartment building, vaulting over the couch and brushing past me to go upstairs. They were all the same size and stature as him and for a second there, I was worried I would get trampled, so I stayed completely still, scrunching my face.
They were all carrying duffel bags and hockey sticks, dressed in Stratford jerseys and sweatpants. I put two and two together. When the dust settled was around the same time I realized I could ask them to help me carry the couch up, but they were already gone by then. I looked over at the guy and we seemed to be on the same wavelength.
"Do you think I couldâ"
"Hey, do you needâ"
We chuckled, realizing we talked over each other. He said, "I got you." Then, he hollered up, "Hey! Sammo! Bowman! Could use a hand."
They spawned from above, almost racing each other to the bottom of the steps. I couldn't help but laugh at how rowdy they were.
"Oh, we got a new couch for the spot, eh?" asked Sammo, whose name was on his jersey. Bowman splayed across the couch for a laugh before hopping back up.
"This is..." the blonde guy looked over at me, furrowing his brow.
"Sonny. I'm Sonny," I smiled.
"Tim, you caught yourself a girl from down undah?" Sammo teased.
The blonde, who I knew now as Tim, continued. "....Sonny, and she needs our help carrying this to her apartment. Apartment...?"
"13."
"Damn. That's all the way at the end of the hall, isn't it?" Bowman asked.
"C'mon, boys. Sonny's new around here. Let's be polite and make her want to stay," Tim said. It was then that I noticed he also had a duffel bag and hockey sticks, which he set down outside. They each took a side and I went to lift my own, but I was met with a hand up from Sammo.
"Don't worry about this, me'lady. Don't want you liftin' up a finger." Sammo grinned.
So, I took careful steps behind them, figuring I shouldn't insist to be in the way, and watched them pivot with every bend of the staircase. This was a whole lot easier than careening this whole thing up myself. I wasn't sure what I was thinking when I let those movers leave.
Finally, they set the couch down in the middle of my room. It seemed to be no effort to them at all. I wore a warm smile.
"Thank you guys, so much," I said, holding my hands together.
"Ah, don't mention it. C'mon, Sammo, let's go." The pair left my place, and me and Tim, alone.
I chuckled, feeling a bit awkward. "You really saved the day," I said. "Sorry about that."
"Don't be sorry," he told me. "Looks like we were at the right place at the right time." He smiled. "Well, Sonny, it turns out I'm actually in the apartment right underneath you. Number six. So if you need anything else..."
A sort of dread filled my stomach. You could hear every step you took in this place thanks to the creaky wooden floors. I was already a bit worried about bothering my neighbors with my endless nights of sewing and my impromptu dance parties, now I had to think about not bothering Tim. Strange and yet adorable and super helpful Tim. I tried to hide how horrified I was with a smile right back.
"Cool. I'll keep that in mind," I said. "Thanks again, and, um, see ya around."
"See ya."

Hi. I've sometimes considered getting into narration and I was just wondering how you got yourself into the industry, if you have a moment...
I got in because I was already inside the house :P
Let me elaborate. I was already an author. I'd written stuff that suited my voice. I'd been wondering for a while about audio and when my writing org (Romance Writers of Australia) ran an online course about how to record your own audio, I decided to pay the $55 cost and see what it was all about. I had a high school acting background and was reasonably confident I had a suitable voice, I already had a cheap USB mic, I hung a few blankets in my closet, and got to work. I recorded a couple of short stories I'd written in the Austen fanfic genre and posted them for free in an Austen fanfic fan group on Facebook asking what people thought. Within literally days I had other authors pretty much all over me asking what I charged. I really didn't know what it was worth, so I did a bit of research and quoted a rate (about 2/3 of my current rate) and booked my first paying project. I then got really lucky. I got hired by an author to do a series of 12 books, one a month, if I would guarantee the rate I was then charging. Sure, I said. I've since done over 30 books for that author. I've upgraded my equipment and my skills since then, but tbh most of my work still comes through authors I know - I hardly have to audition - and my theory is this: People are lazy. If you need a skilled job doing and you have a close acquaintance who has that skill, you hire them. An electrician, or a plumber, for example. You don't go looking for a different one. If someone wants a British-accented female narrator and they've been chatting with me on social media for 5 years, there's a high probability they're gonna say "Hey you want the job?" rather than have to go through the auditioning process and then trust a complete stranger when quite a bit of money is on the line. The way I got into narration won't work for people who aren't already embedded in the author community, unfortunately. I'd already done the preliminary work, not that I realised what I was doing, and I was positioned to take advantage of it.
If you want to get into narration, the first thing you need to do is go to the Narrator's Roadmap and take advantage of allll the free resources. Now, you need to do some PRACTICE. I've recommended before to people who want; approach fanfic authors and ask if you can make podfic of their work. You won't get paid but you'll learn A LOT.
Once you've got a few recordings under your belt I recommend getting a tech consult. There are a couple of people who will do a freebie to start - Don Baarns is a leading engineer in the field, or my personal tech guru is Jim Edgar.
Don't skip this step. You need to be sure your work is up to quality standards or you're wasting your time auditioning. And then you need to start auditioning. Go back to the Narrator's Roadmap for the where and how.
Good luck. It's not for everyone, but it's something I love doing, and I'm lucky enough to be earning a decent rate for it. I could absolutely make a full-time living out of it but, for me, sitting in a cupboard all day talking to fictional people isn't great for my mental health, so I keep a part-time day job to get me out of the house.

Once more.
chan x gn reader
Genre: childhood friends to lovers au x idol au
warning: slight angst towards the end but ends with fluff!
Word count: 971
a/n: Hey!! This is my first ever fic please be nice and let me know if i made any mistakes and likes and re-blogs are appreciated but please give credit!!
You and chan have known each other since you were born your mothers were in a pre-natal group together and really hit it off and became best-friends. You knew Chan all through primary school in Seoul. Later when it was time to move to high-school you found out chan was moving to Australia and you were moving to (insert country.) After saying you hurtful goodbyes you guys promised to stay in touch.
Occasionally you would visiting each other and act like you have never left each other. However, the mutual friend feeling suddenly changed for Chan. It was summer in Australia you were 15 and Chan was the same, you went visit - not seeing Chan in a while so neither of you really had a recent image of one another- you wore short clothing from the obvious heat and when you saw Chan for the first time in what felt like ages he was blown away.
âwere they always this cuteâ he thought.
âWow Ive never never noticed the dimples when they smile beforeâ he thought as you smiled at his sister.
You and Chan headed up to his room to do some mindless catching up when Chan could feel his heart racing and his palms getting sweaty. Yes, it could be from the sweltering heatâŠbut what if it wasnât? You dived onto Chans bed already making yourself comfortable as he put on a movie. You were engulfed in the movie but Chan couldnât take his eyes of you. The movie ended and you turned to Chan. âhey i need to tell you somethingâ you sputtered.
Recently, you decided to audition for JYP just for fun to see if you would get in and as it turns out you did.
âi auditioned for JYP and i got in so im moving back to Korea i guessâ you spat.
âoh my god y/n that is probably the best thing i have ever heardâ he spoken in an eger tone.
âi did too!! And im moving there in spring!â He jumped
so it was settled you and Chan would move together and train side by side. Which of course you did but not without making a few friends on the way.
-10 years later-
âY/n!â A girl with long black hair called out to you.
âYeji!â You cried
You and Yeji have been friends right from the start of your training process. She joined around the same time as you and since then you two became inseparable. âi thought you didnât need to come in today?â She quizzed
âyeah but my comeback is soon and i wanted to see Chan in the studio!â You explained
âoh ok!â You hugged and make your way over to Chans studio.
You knock on the door and hear a familiar aussie voice coming from inside
âcome in!!â He yelled.
You walk in and smell the familiar smell (you would often visit) of coffee and the old wood smell from the walls. Your wrap your arms around him and hug him tight. Chans heart raced once again and his palms once again becoming sweaty just like he did when he was 15. You sat on the couch and asked if he needed any help as you were an idol and a music producer too.
Finally, Chan had finished his work and found you asleep on his studio couch. He smiled and draped his jacket over your body.
ok hes in love
Chan with this new realisation he would distance himself. Your his best-friend and has been since your guys were born! He canât confess can he? What if you break up? How could he live without you? He decided to consult in his closest friends. âjust date her idk why your so stressedâ a muffled reply came from Minho snacking on a bun.
âYeah date herâ came from 6 other boys in an overly loud manner.
With all this too think about Chan does the one thing he does when he needs to disassociate from reality. Make music.
You were worried. Chan hadnât been answering you messages or calls. He always said he was too busy or when he saw your walking he would run the other way. You were getting sick of it because you couldnât think of anything that you did wrong!
You came up with a plan. To trap chan and get him to say what is wrong.
You had the perfect plan, you would show up to his dorm unannounced and the boys would make sure he was home. You show up just as you planned there he was sitting on the couch.
âGod hes gorgeous- wait did you just call chan gorgeousâ you thought.
Putting that thought aside. You called out to Chan and made sure he couldnât run.
âYA!! Why are you ignoring me!!!â You splutter already feeling a lump in you throat.
âY/n-â
âNo NO i did nothing why are you ignoring me i donât understand!!â Oh great! Your crying. Perfect.
âI LIKE YOU OK..i like youâ he spits out slightly crying too.
âwhat-â you were shocked. In fairness you were actually quite happy you had always had a slight crush on Chan but i guess you never really noticed it apart from when you saw him on the couch mere moments ago.
âlisten y/n iâve liked no no loved you since we were 15 and when you visited me in Australia and you were just so..cute! And funny and sweet! Your just so perfect and-â
before he could say another word you pressed your lips against his. Slowly but tenderly kissing. Passionate like you were both waiting for this for 10 years you both have .
You pull away âin case you couldnât tell Christopher chan i like you tooâ and pressed you lips together once more.

Harjit Kaur, 30 (Australia 2024)
Harjit with her four-year-old and two-year-old, who she loved dearly
Harjit Kaur had so much to look forward to. Thanks to her hard work, she had just gotten a new job and she and her husband Sukhjinder Singh were about to buy a new home where they would raise their children. The future looked bright.
Harjit already had a four-year-old daughter and a two-year-old son. When she found out she was pregnant with her third child, she didnât feel ready. Harjit underwent a âconsultationâ where she was told surgical abortion was âvery safeâ and that âshe would be able to go home in a couple of hours.â
First-trimester surgical abortion is not as safe as she was led to believe. The uterus, cervix, the intestines, bladder, and nearby blood vessels are at risk of being torn. Risks include hemorrhage, infection, organ perforation, embolism and death. A few of the other women and girls killed by âsafe and routineâ first-trimester legal abortion include Kenniah Epps, Ruth Montero, Maria Gomez, Sandra Williams, Luz Maria Rodriguez, Elise Kalat, 17-year-old Chivon Williams, Erika Charlotte Wullschleger, Tia Archeiva Parks, 19-year-old Lisa Marie Hoefener, Pamela Colson, Maria Leho, Jennifer Hallner, Louchrisser Jackson, Regina Johnson, âAudrey Roe,â âBetty Roe,â âDawn Roe,â âEvie Roe,â âDorothy Roe,â âVanessa Roe,â âSaanvi Roe,â and âRoxanne Roe.â
On January 12, 2024, Harjit went to the Hampton Park Women's Health abortion facility in Melbourne. She had told this was âsafeâ and a âroutine procedure,â and she believed it. She was headed to the operating room at 12:57, when she messaged her husband and said she would call him after the abortion. That was the last time her family ever heard from her.
Abortionist Rudolph âRudyâ Lopes called Sukhjinder later that day to tell him what happened. Moments after the abortion was over, Harjit was being moved to another room when it was discovered that her heart had stopped. An ambulance was called and CPR administered for 45 minutes. Despite all this, Lopes described the abortion as âsuccessful.â
Sukhjinder immediately drove to the facility, but when he arrived the staff refused to let him see Harjit. He was kept out of the ward entirely. He described the horrible day to news sources later:
âFive minutes later the doctor came to me and said, "Sorry your wife is dead".
âI was dead then. My life destroyed in a second.â
Staff finally let Sukhjinder into the room where Harjitâs body lay. âI begged her to come back for our little kids,â he said.
An investigation is now underway, with police and the coroner involved in the case.
Sukhjinder is devastated and doesnât understand how Harjit, who was perfectly healthy, was killed by something they were repeatedly told was âsafe and routine.â He struggles to comprehend what his future will look like without her and has described her needless death as unacceptable.
Harjit did not have to die. It is unacceptable that she was not warned of the potential dangers of the operation that killed her. More support should also be made available for families who are unsure if they are ready to care for a new baby. Resources to help her and Sukhjinder care for the new baby or for adoption could have helped. She and her baby should both be alive. Harjit deserved better than to be collateral damage of an industry that has already killed so many.
A GoFundMe has been set up to help the family. (Please consider donating to help them if you can.) https://www.gofundme.com/f/for-my-wifes-funeral-and-kids-support

Do you know a lot of Aboriginal history?
So I work in what is called 'consulting archaeology' in Australia (what the USA and Canada apparently refer to as 'CRM'), and so i do work on a lot of projects relating to Aboriginal cultural heritage.
Aboriginal history, however, is a widely diverse concept, both in culture, time, and space. (And this is not even mentioning Torres Strait Islander people and history, which is a different category). There are more than 250 surviving Indigenous languages in Australia, and scientific research shows evidence of a history stretching back at least 65 000 years.
I cannot, and do not, know more information than a few drops in the water of such diverse history (and in the case of closed cultural practices, secret-sacred history/artefacts/knowledge, and restricted knowledge, nor should i know more than this).
I also, for the most part, tend to work in the eastern and southern areas of Australia, meaning any regional Aboriginal histories that i know for work exclude the vast majority of histories in the rest of Australia.
So do i know about some of Australia's Indigenous past? Of course. Its not only a requirement for my job, but also fascinating and diverse and an overwhelmingly important part of my country's past, present and future. And i wish it was a more acknowledged and taught part of our schooling in Australia.
But i do not consider myself to know "a lot of Aboriginal history". I have barely scratched the surface. And there are some parts that i will not, and should not, know or have access to as a young, non-Indigenous woman. And this is something that i respect. And i will forever be accepting (culturally appropriate) ways to learn more of it. I dearly love the fact that working in archaeology gives me more opportunities to sit down with community members and Elders, and learn parts of their history and stories from them. Not just the anglo-european written records of the past.

Bill Armitt: A trans man in the bush in 1950
New Post has been published on https://qnews.com.au/bill-armitt-a-trans-man-in-the-bush-in-1950/
Bill Armitt: A trans man in the bush in 1950
After a trip to the Big Smoke to consult Sydneyâs leading gynaecologists, trans man Bill Armitt caught a bus back to the bush and disappeared from history.
In 1950, 22-year-old Bill Armitt lived in the 100-year-old slab hut where he was born. Home-schooled on a farm 60 kilometres from Goulburn, he grew up with no other kids to play with. Although assigned female at birth, Bill stopped wearing dresses at seven. He cut his hair short, wore menâs clothing and took up the tough life of an Aussie bushman.
The Sydney Truth interviewed Bill twice for newspaper articles, once at home in the bush, and again during his trip to Sydney.
Bill told the paper he worked six days a week, getting out of bed at 5 and making breakfast for himself and his elderly father. He then made himself two thick jam sandwiches for lunch, and walked two miles into the bush where he worked until dusk clearing scrub and grubbing out stumps. Back home, he made dinner from cold mutton and boiled potatoes. He read a Western novel by the flickering light of a kerosene lamp for about an hour before bed.
Once a year, he went to the pictures in Goulburn and saw a Western.
But, happy as Bill seemed, he âworried for years as the the nature of [his] sex.â
A Macquarie St specialist told Truth it was possible Bill was a man whose sex just needed adjusting by an operation: intersex.
Bill Armitt in Sydney
Bill left the farm and headed for Sydney where he saw the sea for the first time, rode an escalator, and a train⊠and was examined by gynecologists.
They declared him medically a woman, devastating the young man.
âI know in my heart that I am a man and that I will always be a man.â
The gynaecologists referred Bill to a psychoanalyst who confronted Bill with his choices in life.
Dress as a woman and superficially live life as a woman: âa fish out of water, a social misfit.â
Or go back to the life he knew and loved â the hard life of a bush worker. Kudos to this 1950s psychoanalyst for recognising Billâs truth. He already lived his authentic life. It was a tough life but the life he loved.
At 5.10 on a Thursday afternoon in 1950, Bill Armitt caught the bus back to Goulburn, returned to the family farm and never again made news.
His father died in 1956 and Bill about two decades later in 1974.

title: Some Shall Break (None Shall Sleep #2) author: Ellie Marney publisher: Little, Brown release date: 6 June 2023
This sequel to the New York Times bestselling None Shall Sleep is an equally electrifying, chilling thriller that brings us back into the lives of junior FBI consultants Travis Bell and Emma Lewis with a new case that may unravel everything theyâve been working for.
After a harrowingly close contact with juvenile sociopath Simon Gutmunsson, junior FBI consultants Emma Lewis and Travis Bell went their separate ways: Emma rejected her Quantico offer and Travis stayed to train within a new unit of the FBI Behavioral Science division. But the unitâs latest case is feeling eerily familiar and Kristin GutmunssonâSimon Gutmunssonâs eccentric twinâreaches out to Travis to send a warning: Emma is in peril. When Travis and Kristin turn up evidence that points back to Daniel Huxton, the serial killer that Emma had escaped, things become more complicated. With a copycat on the loose, Emma returns to Quantico and is thrown back into her past traumas. Compelled to prevent more tragedyâeven if it means putting herself in dangerâEmma turns to Simon for help once again. But Simon is keeping secrets that could impact their entire investigation. Will the team be able to stop the Huxton copycat before time runs out for his next victims?

Top 5 Reasons to Read
I must admit Iâm kind of glad this isnât a traditional review because Iâd just be gushing incoherently about how freaking much I loved Some Shall Break (and its predecessor, None Shall Sleep). So instead of rambling, let me give you my top 5 reasons to read this incredible series!
1. The early 1980s setting had me nostalgic for my childhood! Granted, I was only 7 in 1982, but I loved all the little references to things I remember from that time - songs, fashion, cars, etc.
2. I loved getting a (fictional) peek inside the beginnings of the FBIâs now-famed Behavioral Science Unit, which quickly became the gold standard for serial killer profiling.
3. These books give us the most creepy and terrifying serial killer this side of Hannibal Lecter, and I am absolutely chuffed to see the grittiness of this thriller series in young adult lit!
4. Emma Lewis is a badass, incredibly complex character that you root for with every single page you turn. Her badassery lies not in brute strength or actual abilities to kick butt, but in her strength of character, her tenacity, her intelligence, her unwillingness to be pushed around, and her feminist sensibilities (back when more mainstream feminism was still fairly new). She has *been through some shit* and has come out the other side fierce and strong, while also still dealing with the effects of her captivity. I love the quote from Adrienne Rich that she cites as her favorite:Â âHer wounds came from the same source as her power.â
5. Finally, more on the feminism: again, weâre dealing with very early â80s, so mainstream feminism was in its nascent stage, but Marney exposes the sexism inherent in not just police culture but also the culture at large at the time -- and which unfortunately still exists today. At one point Kristen says, âPeople only listen when women expose their pain, I suppose.â Emma later remarks, âEvery woman lives in a constant state of battle-readiness.â Later, when Emma shoos away a creep in a bar by referring to her FBI partner, Travis, as her boyfriend, she notes âthe irony that she has to claim connection with one man to avoid another.â I doubt Iâm alone in saying each of these is all too familiar even now, 40 years after the setting of this book.
Iâm not sure I can adequately convey how darn much I love this series, but I hope this list is a start! If you are *at all* a mystery/thriller lover, PICK THESE UP! Even if you donât normally read YA, I am confident youâll love these. And DM me with thoughts once youâre done!
RATING: 5 stars!
**Disclosure: I received a copy of this book from the publisher for purposes of this blog tour. I also bought myself the audiobook to alternate between audio and physical.

My thoughts and expectations for Moana 2
Holy s***, to say the least.
After seven years.
After the announcement of a live-action remake.
After having heard way back in 2020 that they were making a Disney+ series.
Whoa.
I just can't take it in.
Of course, like everyone, I have thoughts and expectations regarding this unexpected sequel.
First things first.
According to Disney,
"Moana 2Â takes audiences on an expansive new voyage with Moana, Maui and a brand-new crew of unlikely seafarers. After receiving an unexpected call from her wayfinding ancestors, Moana must journey to the far seas of Oceania and into dangerous, long-lost waters for an adventure unlike anything sheâs ever faced."
So there's the first synopsis. Let's delve in a little deeper.
Moana gets a message from her ancestors. Okay, then. She must journey to the far seas of Oceania and into dangerous, long-lost waters for an adventure "unlike anything she's ever faced."
So that means the film will be taking us to the farthest corners of the Pacific Ocean. Does that mean its edges, like continental Asia or North America? Or Australia? Or even the chilly subantarctic waters? I'd love to see Moana and the gang to to China (which, as you may know, I'm obsessed with thanks to Kung Fu Panda), or the Americas (especially the west coast of the Andean region, which actually may have been landed on by Polynesians in the precolumbian era). It fits her peoples' role as explorers and discoverers.
Of course, all of us have been wondering where Moana would go ever since 2016. Then in late 2020, like I mentioned earlier, they announced a Moana series on Disney+, set to release this year. Well, it looks like this movie will be the reworking of that very series.
Now let's talk about some concerns I have.
The original directors and Lin-Manuel Miranda aren't returning.
It's probably a reworking of the series.
Sequels have a habit of not living up to the original.
Disney's recent animated works have failed.
It may have a Woke agenda.
The original directors and Lin-Manuel Miranda aren't returning.
Longtime veteran director pair John Musker and Ron Clements directed the first movie. With the help of a five-year research trip to Polynesia and countless consultants on all things Polynesian, combined with their refined directing skills, Musker and Clements made Moana the (however imperfect) masterpiece it is. Of course, they couldn't have made it a masterpiece music-wise without the help of acclaimed songwriter Lin-Manuel Miranda. It's when sequels lose their predecessors' original directors-a key guiding star to a movie's success-that they go down the wrong path. Look at Ice Age, for example. The latter sequels of that notoriously apostate franchise weren't directed by the original directors, Chris Wedge and Carlos Saldanha. That alone wasn't the sole reason for the franchise's apostasy, though.
But enough about Ice Age. Without Lin-Manuel Miranda, I doubt the songs will live up to those of the original. I'm not exactly a fan of Lin-Manuel Miranda, but if the success of Moana and Encanto are any indication, I can trust him with a film's music. Without him, the music probably won't feel the same. On the other hand, at least Opetaia Foa'i and Mark Mancina are returning. The former, a Polynesian and patriarch of world-renowned band Te Vaka, helped immensely to give the first movie's music an authentic Polynesian feel, with songs partially or entirely in Samoan or Tokelauan. In other words, I'm thankful for him and his band. I also trust Mark Mancina, who has worked on films like Tarzan and Brother Bear. Still, that being said, I'll try to keep my expectations for the music sub-par.
2. It's probably a reworking of the series.
This isn't the first time a planned series has been reworked into a series. After Atlantis: The Lost Empire's release in 2001, Disney planned to make a series, but cancelled it and reworked it into a suckish sequel, with poor animation and stories literally just grafted together from 3 episodes. When the Moana series was announced in 2020, I felt a part of myself leap for joy. We all know TV series don't give as much hype as movies, but they have strengths that movies lack, one of them being the format in which the story is being told. A movie's story has to be abridged and crammed into a timeframe of about 2 or 3 hours, whereas a series can space the story out and give plenty of room for development of many aspects of the story over several episodes, something that a movie can't do. If Moana 2 does the same thing that Atlantis: Milo's Return did and poorly graft a few episodes' stories together with poor, if any, consistency flowing between the stories, I'm going to puke. We can hope that's not the case, but there's no guarantee of that.
3. Sequels have a habit of not living up to the original.
We've seen this trend all too many times. From Frozen 2, which did a mediocre job at best, to the Ice Age and Land Before Time sequels, which utterly ruined their franchises, sequels prove time and time again that they're not child's play. Of course, there are exceptions, such as Kung Fu Panda 2, but they are few and far in between. With how Frozen 2 turned out, I unfortunately expect this movie, too, to be downgraded from the original that I came to love so much.
4. Disney's recent animated works have failed.
Strange World flopped and Wish was, simply put it, suckish. In other words, looks like Disney is slowly but surely going down the drain. And for a sequel, of anything, to be made in this particular struggle means serious concern. Is Disney truly losing its charm like so many people fear it is? I certainly fear the answer is yes. I'd like to hope that this movie will be untouched by this crisis, but I just can't be sure.
5. It may have a Woke agenda.
I encourage left-wingers to steer clear of this section, lest they get upset and call me a Karen.
Since about 2020, the beginning of the Woke era, Disney has increasingly integrated Woke ideologies such as the LGBT+ movement and radical feminism into its once-family-friendly content, with examples being Onward, Lightyear, and Strange World. That's why I'm very, very thankful that the first movie was made-and finished-when it was. Otherwise, it, too, very likely would've been defiled by Wokeness. We're a few years into the Woke era now and the results on society and culture haven't been pretty. I fear this film will be pushing an unnecessary and unhealthy agenda that the first film was safe from. There's no guarantee that this film will be Woke, but there's no guarantee it won't be, either.
So there you have my main concerns for this film. Being a hardcore Moana fan, I want to be excited. This official confirmation was made literally less than a year away from its release date and the fandom has been waiting close to a decade for this.
But, like with any sequels, there are concerns to be addressed, and addressing the concerns is exactly what I've just done.
So, will Moana 2 live up to its predecessor? Or will it meet the same usual fate as countless other sequels before and yet to come? Only time will tell.

AUSTRALIA HAS FERAL CAMELS??
no hate at all, just w h y?? what about this question is so embarrassing that you gotta be anonymous?? also i don't remember ever mentioning we have camels on this page so i love how you just consult your friendly neighbourhood aussie instead of like. google FKSDHFHKS. i was about to go "omg how DARE you just assume i'm from the outback and just know these things i'm literally a city rat" and realised that i DID in fact know these things because of school LMAO (astronomically rare aus high school curriculum W for not glossing over the history of poc in this country). i don't normally do this but that question was so random and shocking that i just HAVE to dive into this lmao just don't expect this to become a regular thing
okay, i wouldn't know about FERAL camels, but i do know about camels. south asian and middle eastern cameleers are the unsung heroes of australia fr, so time for a crash course in history with me <3
now, australia is REALLY fucking big right?? we're only a bit smaller than mainland usa. and like a WHOLE lot of australia is desert, which the useless brit colonisers couldn't traverse if their lives DEPENDED on it (both figuratively and literally; many died) but travel across states and exploration was becoming increasingly necessary. now part of this reason is that horses are Not built for the outback. but you know what IS built for desert?? camels. and who has both access to both camels and an ability to traverse desert?? south asian and middle eastern people.
so between the 18 hundreds and 1920s (you'll have to forgive me for a lack of specifics because it's been 3 years since i've last taken modern history) australia started letting in cameleers predominantly muslim from india and pakistan. these amazing people were the absolute BACKBONE of exploration, transporting goods and stuff between cities and all that. they also established the firsts mosques in australia!!
the need for cameleers pretty much stopped in the 1920s. most cameleers couldn't remain in australia because of the white australia policy, which basically barred immigration of anyone who wasn't a WASP. they were forced back to their old countries, and released their camels into the outback since they couldn't be brought back.
now i think feral camels DOES ring a bell from what i studied of robyn davidson in eng adv. the camels descended from the cameleers' camels are the feral ones in the outback. she was the first woman to cross the desert back in the 70s. check out her autobiography tracks. the only thing i really remember from it was her having to shoot and kill feral camels to survive, but not because it's poorly written, just because i have to read a LOT for eng LMAO. my entire class was actually really invested in it.
like MANY animals introduced to australia, camels are actually NOT good for the environment. very harsh on native plants and wildlife. can't go into specifics because i frankly don't know enough and i'm too lazy for google (i guess that would make two of us) but that's not the camels fault or the cameleers' fault obviously. everyone say it with me: fuck the brits.
ANYWAY this is far from extensive. as fun as it is for me to get to ramble on about history, i'm no expert, and i'd definitely recommend reading more up on it if it's of interest to you. and PLEASE don't trust me on this, i'm just a stranger on the internet. i didn't google jack shit, just went purely off memory. fact check me. don't just completely absorb this blindly. or do. who am i to tell you what to do?? i'm not your mum.
this was fun!!! i really hope dear anon sees this, or if they're not following me, that it happens upon their feed by some stroke of luck
#anon please i'm begging you tell me who you are#or at least anonymously tell me why you needed to be anon for this#i need to know your reasoning on a transcendent level#and also why i specifically had the absolute honour of answering this question#strange break from all the fandom nonsense i'm usually posting

Kind of a summary what Magda, Seger and Kosse have to say about the Saudi sponsor
Blue-yellow about Saudi World Cup sponsor: "Don't understand how to think"
"Visit Saudi" is rumored to be sponsoring the World Cup in Australia and New Zealand. The Swedish national team does not stand behind the sponsor. - Many will feel uncomfortable, says Magdalena Eriksson to the Football Channel. Â
Saudi Arabia's tourism authority "Visit Saudi" is said to be sponsoring the upcoming WC in Australia and New Zealand along with giants such as Adidas, Coca-Cola and Visa. It is something that has upset the host nations, who believe that they are disappointed and shocked that they were not consulted on the matter.Â
Earlier this week, Caroline Seger reacted to the information and said it was tragic and sad. She further said that they do not want women's football to be controlled by money that is not clean.Â
- It will be like everything else, there will be a bad image of Fifa's way of handling things and everything is ultimately about money. It is only what rules and not everything that must be done or women's rights. I don't know if they think it's about raising the issue and starting to discuss the topic, but in the end I think the underlying issue is always about money. And I don't want women's football to be ruled by money in order to survive. I want a clean sport, she said then.Â
Now Magdalena Eriksson reacts to the question, she too.Â
- I think it is incredibly unfortunate and strange after everything that has happened after the debate in Qatar. I don't understand how you think when you make a decision like that, especially when you haven't consulted with the host nations. It is nevertheless in their stadiums that the advertisement will be shown. I hope that strong enough voices have been raised so that it will be possible to recall and if it is not possible, I think it is incredibly sad as many LGBTQ people who will participate in the championship will feel uncomfortable, she says to the Football Channel and further explains that she feels powerless:Â
- You know little, does it matter if you take the fight or speak out if it still leads nowhere? It's really boring, but at the same time you can influence what you yourself can influence. It will create headlines and spread what I think if I clearly show where I stand on issues. That is my responsibility. Men, you may not be able to do that, but I will feel that I have done my part.Â
Kosovare Asllani explains that it is problematic to have a sponsor that does not at all support everyone's human rights.Â
- For my own part, it doesn't feel natural. It doesn't look good at all and it would be incredibly strange, it's a country and a sponsor that doesn't support wearing the armband, she says to Fotbollskanalen.Â
Last winter, Fifa banned the nations that participated in the World Cup from wearing the "One Love" armband. A captain's armband that shows support for everyone's rights. And should it be the case that the bandage is also banned during the WC in Australia and New Zealand, BlĂ„gult will not back down.Â
- I fully support it. Everyone must stand for everyone to have the same rights, it may be easier to rule a country, but we women are pioneers. We want to change and move the world forward, that is, if someone were to fine us then you can do it, but if we create a movement where everyone does the same thing, it will not look good if everyone is fined. We will not back down, we are women, concludes Asllani. Â
