Lauryn Hill’s debut—and only—solo studio album was a seismic event in 1998: a stunningly raw, profound look into the spiritual landscape not just of one of the era’s biggest stars, but of the era itself. Decades later, The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill still counts as a life-changer, with the preternaturally talented Hill rapping with the confident ferocity of a woman in total creative control and singing with the gospel-hued richness of the soul canon. It was an expression of interior depth during a time in which Black women were often portrayed as one-dimensional archetypes, and Hill delivered her magnum opus of life’s triumphs and setbacks with such singular heart, sincerity, and specificity that it transcended from an album into a universal statement of being. Her fortitude was so powerful that new generations continue to discover an album whose specific mastery of musicality, lyricism, and frankness has not been replicated.

Miseducation was forged in emotional fire. After seven years as the voice of the politically cogent, critically acclaimed New Jersey hip-hop trio The Fugees—and in the aftermath of a protracted, tumultuous relationship with her bandmate Wyclef Jean—Hill set out to document a period of major life transitions, including the slow erosion of the group she’d been with since high school. With the trauma came new beginnings: Hill was also inspired by the physical and mental transitions of pregnancy and the birth of Zion, her first child with Rohan Marley, using her attendant spirituality as a guiding light. This potent emotional crossroads led to what remains one of the rawest albums ever created, a lasting artistic beacon for musicians across genre, and a moment in which the whole world recognized Hill’s talents.

Miseducation’s opening track, in which a teacher announces a classroom roll call only for Lauryn Hill to be absent, speaks to its thesis: that its lessons were of the sort that can only be learned through lived experience. As she weaved through painful eviscerations of an ex, which even at the time were understood to be directed at Jean, she redefined the way gritty, sharp rapping and lavish R&B harmonies could fuse together in an era of nearly catholic separation between the two genres. (Even three years after Method Man and Mary J. Blige’s “All I Need” remix, hardcore rap was largely still teeming with misogyny, and R&B was seen as a softer, more feminine pursuit.) Miseducation centered a young woman's point of view, in all her rebellions and vulnerabilities, amid terrain dominated on the hip-hop charts by a certain vision of hypermasculinity. But it also served as an entry point for a mainstream still inclined to denigrate hip-hop’s musicality.

The album was recorded, in part, at Hope Road in Jamaica, in Bob Marley’s home—a legacy reflected in Hill’s idea for the album’s cover art, which echoes The Wailers’ Rastaman Vibration cover. Yet the DNA of these songs, and a key to their endurance, draws on a classic Motown Records/Stax Records sound that showcases Hill’s immaculate vocal approach; the layered “Doo Wop (That Thing)” alone won her two of the five Recording Academy / GRAMMYs [awards] she took home in 1999, a validation of the freshness of her sound, as well as the way her music spoke to the emergent feminism of the Hip-Hop Generation.

The vulnerability in Miseducation’s singles is often discussed, but Hill’s concerns, and powers, were multivalent. Once a history major at Columbia University, Hill explored her upbringing in Newark New Jersey, with a sharp, subtle sociopolitical eye (“Every Ghetto, Every City,” featuring clavinet from Loris Holland, minister of music at the storied Brooklyn Pilgrim Church) and philosophized on the nature of growing up in a disenfranchised world (“Everything Is Everything,” whose classic ’70s soul sound comes courtesy of a backing band including a then-unknown pianist named John Legend).

Miseducation is also proof that pure intention and unflinching emotional truth can be a path to deliverance unto itself. As Hill raps on the politically charged koan “Everything Is Everything”: “My practice extending across the atlas/I begat this.” She was, and remains, a once-in-a-generation talent whose inspiration, and innovation, can be heard through the decades. Artists exhaust long discographies hoping for a cohesive piece of work resonant enough to reshape culture and inscribe its creator into the pantheon; Lauryn Hill did it in one.

Finally, I can introduce Indigo aka Brainiac 8! Last one, and with this I've done 8 straight days of posting. Not the best week (pretty shitty tbh) but posting these helped take my mind off all that horrible shit. Hopefully it helped a little for you too.

A villain turned hero (then villain again) who comes from the future and tries to make the future belong to Brainiac! She'll be fulfilling the superman role in the group! Best of all, she has pink hair! Yes that's important (no its not lol)!! You know how long she's been in the drafts? Since more than a year ago!

In my last post, I was considering making a oc that would fulfill what I would like for my superman expy of the group but decided against having an oc for that, but ironically I did find a character who was pretty similar to her. The fact that she was actually a 'child' of Brainiac made her, in a way, more perfect for the role. A lot of the kids on the TrWh Outlaw team tend to be stuck on the border between good and bad, so Indigo will have company in that regard. I think at a later point she'll also start making friends with her outsider teammates from the comics as well, I've got a couple of drawings of them as well. I'll post them later tho.

Indigo's personality is split, because just like in the comics, she actually has two sides to her. A sweet, inquisitive, innocent but manufactured side and her 'real' personality, an evil monster bent on enacting Brainiac's plans. Her entrance is similar to the comics, she comes blasting in from the future to try to kill Donna. Unlike in canon, Indigo fails. Cyborg helps rewire her and Donna tries to figure where to place her. Donna then thinks of those Outlaw rascals making trouble everywhere and gets an idea...

Here was where I was working out her costume, I gave her a black dress cuz of her canon black outfit, but it felt kinda boring no matter what I added to it. So I changed it up. I also gave her a human disguise, for whenever she wants to blend in. I also tried to give her a name of sorts 'Aryrl Dox', tried to make it sound like Ariel but don't know if it works.

Also her hairstyle, I kinda styled it after Yukino from KareKano. Yukino was someone who tried to create a secondary facade to fool her classmates into thinking she was perfect. Her obsession for maintaining two different personas gave her a similarity to Indigo, so I thought it'd be funny to give her hairstyle to Indy.

Also with Indigo being the superman of the group, this means Jason/Vanessa/Indigo are the trinity of the TrWh Outlaws. Seems like Vanessa doesn't feel too comfortable around Indigo.

And Vanessa isn't the only who's uncomfortable around Indigo. Karen, Kara, and Brainiac 5 seem rather apprehensive about her. I said earlier that the story that introduces her is similar to canon, where Indy flies in from the future to kill Donna. Since this happens earlier in canon, the plot point from Graduation has to be different. My idea was to have it happen in a ceremony where the heroes(Justice League?) formally establish Steph's and Tim's hero teams (Jason's team mostly rejected doing this, much to Toni's chagrin). A lot of heroes were there so a lot of people saw the destruction Indy brought, so she's currently got a pretty bad reputation atm.

Also I made Indigo's outfit more similar looking to Supergirl's, perhaps its her way to make herself easier for others to accept her.

More Indy's and a little moment between her, Jason and Vanessa. I imagine they're closer to 13/14 here. You can also see me putting her in her canon hairstyle, maybe I should've stuck to it, much easier to draw tbh.

A fun comic showing how Indigo comes blasting into the team's life, Donna can't help but find this all rather amusing. As for why is Donna introducing Indy to the team? Well I figured it would just be like her to want to help this child, even if that child tried to assassinated her. Doesn't every child deserve the chance to make friends and be happy? It's a major reason why I like making this au, giving lonely young heroes a more happier life.

A little bit of an epilogue here. It was very important to me that at one point Jason would meet a character that basically 'beats' the shit out of him and then would make him laugh. Basically a parallel to his own meeting with Bruce, at least one meeting like this had to happen! What better character than the girl who doesn't know what humor is yet? I think they're gonna be great friends, lets hope these happy times last forever...

And with that, my 8-day streak of posting is over!!! My poor poor hands, I think I'll skip next week honestly.

Scandal-ridden Illinois Mayor Tiffany Henyard faced waves of jeers and booing throughout a raucous meeting where she faced fed-up constituents.

Henyard, the self-described "supermayor" of Dolton, a Chicago suburb, and Thornton Township Supervisor, has recently been dubbed the "worst mayor in America" by critics after being accused of misdeeds ranging from weaponizing police raids to spending taxpayer money on luxuries in Las Vegas. Most recently she has also come under fire for an alleged sexual assault by one of her allies during the Vegas trip, where the alleged victim claims to have been fired after speaking out.

Earlier in April, Henyard made headlines for being condemned by local Dolton residents, but this Tuesday, she was similarly skewered by residents of the Thornton township in a town hall meeting. "Everybody wanted to continue to be a s---show and not really show facts as it relates to what's really going on in our township," she responded.

The mayor, holding a golden microphone, sparked outrage when she argued, "We’re here to help each other and not hurt each other. And it’s a shame that us — us, I’m talking to my Black and Brown communities — would sit here and fight."

DEMOCRATIC ILLINOIS ‘SUPER MAYOR’ VETOES ATTEMPT TO PROBE HER LAVISH SPENDING

The audience could be heard loudly jeering and booing in response and Henyard went on to add, "Guess what? I am the youth, I am the future, no matter what you think or may say."

Residents slammed Henyard for the alleged scandals and accused her of lacking transparency about them.

"When you don’t answer questions, there’s something to hide," Dolton resident Mary Avon said at the meeting.

While Henyard has repeatedly condemned media coverage for allegedly misrepresenting her conduct to the country, one South Holland resident, Curtis Watts, said, "No, ‘madam supervisor,’ we are not brainwashed. We are fed up."

Multiple people spoke about the sexual assault allegations, arguing that it demonstrates that Henyard fails to protect women. 

Trina Downs was one such resident who said, "As a Black woman, I wanna see you protect Black women, and I haven’t seen that, Tiffany."

Henyard has made headlines for appealing to racial politics amid her scandals before, proclaiming during a previous meeting, "Y’all got false narratives out there, and y’all should be ashamed of y’all selves. Y’all Black. Y’all are Black! And y’all sitting up here beating and attacking on a Black woman that’s in power. Y’all should be ashamed of y’all selves."

Fox News Digital previously reported that Henyard has been living like a royal with a combined salary of nearly $300,000 — more than the state's governor — and frequent use of beauty vendors, despite the 23,000 residents of the Illinois town having a median income of $24,000.

The Village of Dolton in Illinois voted Monday to hire former Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot as a "Special Investigator" to look into Henyard's conduct. On Tuesday, Lightfoot began to be paid $400 an hour to gather information on Henyard’s alleged spending and finance mismanagement as well as "any state and federal violations."

Backstory: Edward "Eddie" Delkins was born to a "happy" married couple named Millie and Jacob Delkins.  He had two siblings. An older brother named Terrance and a two-year younger sister named Elle. His parents always expected a lot from him but hey, he still loved them. He revealed he was trans when he was 6 but of course his parents didn't like that, but his siblings accepted him and helped him go through treatment. When the outbreak happened, he was in his room, reading until he heard his older brother yelling. When he went to check what was going on, he saw two zombies eating his mom. He   lets out a horrific scream as his brother practically threw him, his sister's bunny Fluffball, the family dog Rofee and his sister into the van and drove off. They soon find Pedro who raises them like his own children. In season 5, the Delkins siblings and their dad were reunited. Elle and Eddie had their suspicions and didn't trust him but Eddie pretended to so he could get the truth from him. Once Eddie and his dad were alone, Eddie's dad told him about his plan to wipe out the survivors and demanded him to join them, even guiltripping him but Eddie refused, causing his dad to go off the edge. He soon went  to the survivors and attacked them with the Fireflies. But the fight stopped when Eddie shot his dad. And the rest is history :D

Summary: Y/n is a screenwriter for her first movie called Hurts so Bad where she meets Tom Holland who plays the male lead, William. The cast tries their best to push the two together. Will they be successful or will the two do the getting together on their own?

Chapter 8: 

Two weeks had passed since the incident and luckily the situation had blown over within the week. The two had continued to stay inside for their movie nights and hangouts. Lori left the last Friday and was truly a sad day for the girls. There were hugs and whispers of promising that they would see each other soon. Lori and Y/n did their handshaking before leaving each other. There were tears on her face and Tom with Supernatural and food for the rest of the weekend. Tom’s brothers and best friend were coming onto set today after coming into town yesterday. Y/n was nervous to meet the group and wanted to make a good impression. Though she was not dating Tom, she was Tom’s other best friend, they had gotten close fairly quickly and she didn’t want to lose their friendship because his family didn’t like her. Harrison was also going to stay on set to get back to the job of being his personal assistant. He was gone because he was finishing up a promo for a movie that he would be premiering in. She dressed better than usual today but also like she wasn’t trying too hard and it was the perfect excuse to wear her new Nike dunks that she’d been waiting weeks for. She was known around the set for having one of the best styles and was even getting recognized by celebrity bloggers. So, she was never worried about that. 

Tom and Ryan were currently in the middle of a scene and they were finally at the midpoint of the movie. It was very bittersweet because Y/n loved working with everyone on set and she didn’t want to leave them.  She promised herself that for the next movie, she’d be working on that she’d try to get the same crew because they were all such a joy to work with. Y/n was knocked out of her thoughts when she saw Tom’s eyes start to not focus on the scene in front of him but instead on something or someones behind Ryan. Y/n followed Tom’s gaze when he began laughing. There were three boys two that looked identical to Tom and one who was slightly taller than the other two boys. One held a sign saying, ‘Would you like a juice box? We don’t want you to get cranky :(” and the other two holding two six packs of juice boxes in the air waving.  Anxiety rose when she recognized them. Man, she hoped they liked her. Ryan C. had cut the scene by the time the three walked on set. He had just gotten done introducing him to Michael and Ryan, so the group was laughing when Tom caught Y/n’s eye. He smiled and waved her over. She got up from her seat and adjusted her jacket before walking over. She tried to put confidence on her face when she saw the group looking at her. “You must be Y/n the girl this Div can’t stop talking about-” Tom quickly interjects stopping Harry from talking. “I do not talk about her that much,” Everyone laughs slightly as Y/n’s face warms and Tom’s ears burn a bright red. “Anyway, like I was saying before I was rudely interrupted, It’s wonderful to meet you in person. And Tom was right you’re even more beautiful in person. If you ever get tired of waiting on this one to make a move, I’ll gladly ta-” Tom puts his hand quickly over his brother’s mouth as everyone laughs. Y/n ignored the warmth rising on her neck. “So Y/n don’t we have to leave in a bit so we can go out for lunch,” She nods, “Yup, we're going to my second favorite restaurant in ATL and your brother can take me to my first,” The group laughs at her comment as an assistant comes over to let them know that their car was there. 

When they finally made it to the restaurant and were seated, Y/n heard a familiar voice introducing themselves. “Parker! It’s so good to see you! I haven’t seen you since the last time I was here. How’s Liam and Avery,” A quick hug was shared between the two as Parker told Y/n about their kids. “You know those two little rascals, they’re still getting all A’s though so I’m proud of them. Avery still wants to be just like you when she grows up.” Y/n nods laughing. Everyone’s eyes are focused on the two speaking when Y/n notices their silence. “Sorry, guys lemme introduce you to one of my favorite people at Toast, Parker! They’ve been here since I’ve been coming here when I was working on my screenplay. They were even some inspiration for Tom’s character.” Everyone waves as Y/n finally sit down. “Well enough of my chattin’. Y/n I’m guessing you want your usual,” Y/n nods quickly. “What about everyone else?” Everyone tells Parker their order. “I’ll let Chef know that you’re out here as well. He was literally just talkin’ about how much he missed you.” Everyone thanks Parker as they begin to leave. “Y/n, when Tom said you pick the best restaurants, he wasn’t lying,” Harrison told her. “Yeah, as much as I like to say I don’t love food. I love food. I’ve been actually talking to some people about having a show reviewing restaurants around the country after the film,” Tom grabbed her hand that was laying on the table and squeezed it. “ Darling, you didn’t tell me anything about this,” Everyone nods (except for the twins and Harrison) in agreement. “Sorry, y’all I promise I was only going to tell you guys when things were becoming a bit final. I didn’t want to tell you all before and get your hopes up if it fell through. I didn’t even think that people would even want to listen to what I had to say let alone a whole show about it,” she said solemnly. “Y/n, love, anyone would love to hear what you have to say. Especially something you’re clearly so passionate about. It lights up your eyes whenever you talk about a restaurant you want to try.” Ryan and Micheal looked at each at the mention of Y/n’s name surprised to hear him say it. It meant, clearly, he was serious. “Y/n, I know we’ve just met but when you were explaining why you love this restaurant and food on the way over, I could taste every meal you talked about. You clearly have a knack for it, don’t ever worry about that. I’m excited for you and I’m watching every episode whenever it comes out.” Sam said sincerely. The table agreed as their plates were played out in front of them by Parker. “Thank you guys,” Y/n said after thanking Parker. She had a huge smile on her face at the comments they made feeling wayyy more confident about her show than before. She didn’t notice how Tom was looking at her, however. Like she hung the stars. Harrison had to kick him slightly under the table because he was staring too long. Y/n turned slightly asking if he was okay as Tom grunted. He said a quick yes. Y/n just barely missed Harrison whispering in Tom’s ear and his face turning beet red. She brushed it off as him doing something embarrassing that only Harrison saw. 

After 40 minutes of drinking, talking, and clearing plates, the Chef came out to greet them as they were paying the bill. “I hope you all enjoyed the food. Thank you all for coming and Jellybean thank you for bringing everyone here.” He said to Y/n as they hugged. “Anytime Uncle Virgil. I’ll probably be back here sometime this weekend. Gotta do some writing,” she said with a wink. She went back to Tom’s side as he put his arm around her shoulder. Virgil smiled as he watched. “You didn’t tell me you were bringing your boyfriend with you. I would’ve called your aunt over too. Your Pops didn’t tell me you had a boyfriend, I outta-” Y/n quickly interrupted, “Tom’s not my boyfriend Unc. We’re just friends I promise.” Virgil looked over at Ryan for confirmation asking her with his eyes why they weren't together when they clearly liked each other. She shrugged her shoulders. He looked back at Y/n. “Good because even though your father is my best friend, I will beat him up at any time.” The group laughed and the awkwardness quickly washed away. “Well, I’ll see you around kiddo, be safe out there, and good luck with that movie of yours. I love you!” The group waved goodbye and went into the car. They let Kill Bill play through the car before Tom finally spoke up. “Jellybean huh?”

Yesterday I talked about the art of servanthood and said this … do something for someone who generally does that for you.  I mean turn the tables, change the method, think of that person that has done so much in serving you and go serve them.  

It is a new way of thinking or living.  It is servanthood at its height and best.  It was seen in the greatest giving to the least.  That is not the “Robin Hood” mentality of taking from the rich to give to the poor.  It is simply recognizing those who do for you and doing for them.

I sighed, relaxing back against Ridge and playing with the mountain of bubbles in front of me, smiling at him talking to his mom on the phone. We were in a hotel room in freaking Paris that had a huge tub and a beautiful view of the city. We had barely made it through the door of our room before clothes started flying, we definitely hadn’t made it to the bed. When I stumbled to the bathroom afterwards I squealed at the sight of the tub and immediately started filling it. Now I was sitting between Ridge’s legs, his chest to my back while one hand stroked my arm and the other held his phone. I stifled the giggle that threatened to erupt from me. It felt like I was in a scene from one of the books I was editing. 

“No, you don’t need to get out any photo albums.” I smiled and peeked behind me at Ridge who grinned at me and rolled his eyes while the female voice raised on the other end. He was excited for me to meet his family. I wasn’t nervous to meet them, anyone who had raised Ridge into the man he was couldn’t be that bad. No, I was nervous they wouldn’t like me. Family meant a lot to Ridge, his biological one and the one he had made in his career. 

“I love you too, mum. I’ll see you next week.” Ridge hung up the phone and placed it on the counter beside the tub. "What has you getting all tense, cor meum?” his voice whispered in my ear. “Thought we got all the tension out a bit ago.” 

I considered brushing off my concerns but I didn’t want to lie. “I’m nervous they won’t like me.” I replied softly, keeping my head facing forward. 

He placed a kiss on my shoulder before replying, “They’re going to love you,” another kiss closer to my neck caused me to squirm. 

“How do you know?” I tilted my head to the side to give him better access. 

“Because you make me happy,” another kiss “because you’re smart,” I shivered, feeling his hardness growing against my back. “You’re funny” one arm snuck around my front, dragging across my nipples while the other gently grabbed the back of my neck, “you’re kind” a kiss to my ear “you’re strong” the hand on my neck tightened when the other turned my chin to face him “And because I love you more than any woman i’ve ever met, except my mum, but it’s close” he grinned and I grinned back when he planted a soft kiss on my lips.

The kiss turned heated quickly and I shifted, turning so that I was facing him fully. I straddled his legs, not caring about the water that sloshed to the tile floor when I did. Resting my hands on his shoulders for support, I let his hands on my hips guide me to sink down on his length, both of us groaning at the sensation. 

“You’re also beautiful, have tits and an ass made for my hands to grab and take me like a champ.” I whimpered in response. I had learned quickly that Ridge had a filthy mouth in bed, it had never been a turn on for me before but something about his gruff accent always made pleasure shoot straight to my core. 

“Best not tell them that part,” I managed to pant out as his grip on my hips tightened, thrusting harder. We were both close, I could feel the pressure building and his dick twitching. He growled in response, moving one hand to circle my clit, sending me over the edge quickly.

I threw the comforter over Lyssa’s legs that were visible beneath yet another t-shirt she had stolen from me. Not that I minded. The caveman side of me beat its chest whenever I saw her in my clothes or merchandise. It was a physical sign to the world that she was taken. My gaze fell to her left hand sprawled on the pillow over her head, for now anyway. Too soon Ridge. I chastised myself. For her and everyone else maybe, but not for me. I had never been raised to hold back, I gave all of myself to everything and I knew Lyssa was it for me. What I said to her in Paris was true, I loved her more than I thought it was possible to love someone who didn’t raise me. If she decided to end things between us I would live but it would be a dark and lonely existence. She had quickly become the sunshine that got me up and kept me going each day and I wanted to tie myself to her in every way possible. I sighed as I watched her sleeping, worn out from our day of exploring Madrid. 

With rugby and wrestling I had traveled most of my life but traveling with her was different. Everything was exciting to her and it made me appreciate the experience more. She tried new foods in Paris, talked to the locals in Geneva and took countless photos of the architecture in Spain. We hadn’t even hit the UK yet. Our plane left in the morning for Belfast where Isabella was flying in to meet up with us and be with Sheamus in his home country. She would also be with us for Scotland and Drew had guaranteed some great food and sites, which Lyssa had nearly squealed at. 

I was most excited for the final stop though. Manchester was only a couple hour drive from my hometown and my family would be at the show, excited to meet Lyssa and see me. I hadn’t seen my parents in person in months and had requested an extra few days off to spend time with them and show Lyssa around. I had already made a mental list of the places to take her, the diner around the corner from our house, my old school where I still held some records and the first field I played rugby on. 

I checked the lock on the door to our room before sliding in bed beside her, grinning when she immediately rolled into me. She sighed my name in that breathy voice that always caught my dick’s attention as she nuzzled her nose into my neck. I wrapped an arm around her waist, pulling her completely against me.

I felt myself hardening but forced it down. We'd had a lot of sex since she joined me and she had joked about needing to buy more underwear. It had been an accusation really, I was usually so eager to be inside her I just ripped off the offending garment that was blocking access to my favorite place in the world. I had shrugged my shoulders and she simply rolled her eyes and kissed me, grumbling something under her breath about cavemen.

I stood to the side at the airport in Belfast watching Ridge and other wrestlers sign autographs for fans. Several  had been on the same flight as us and a group had met us at the gate, eager to see their favorite wrestlers outside the ring. My heart melted when a little boy wearing a too big Brawling Brutes shirt posed with Ridge flexing his muscles. 

“It makes you wonder huh?” I jumped and turned, squealing when Isabella appeared at my side, nodding towards the cameras and smiling faces. 

Pulling her into a hug I looked at her in confusion. “Makes you wonder what?” 

“What they’d be like as a father.” I blushed at her response, looking down. 

That was totally not what I was thinking about. “Are you and Stephen thinking about it?” I nudged her shoulder. 

“Not for a few years, but he’d be a great dad. I think Ridge would be too.” Isabella nudged me back, waving at Sheamus who had spotted her. 

“I think we are a ways away from having children, we haven’t been dating that long or talked about marriage.” I watched Ridge when I responded. He now had a little girl on his shoulder posing for a picture. 

Isabella snorted in response, drawing my attention back to her. “You may not have talked about it, but I see the way you look at each other. Especially when you think no one is watching. You’ve both got it bad.” she winked, turning her attention to the approaching men now that the crowd has dissipated.  

“When did you get here, love?’ Stephen pulled Isabella into a tight hug and kiss while Ridge reached for our bags. 

“My plane landed about an hour ago, I followed the crowd to your gate.” she giggled in response, nodding her head at Ridge. “Hey Ridge, here you’ve kidnapped my cousin.” 

Ridge shrugged and pulled me close. “Turns out I'm not very good at being away from her.”

“Alright don’t get them started on that or we’ll miss our bus to the hotel.” Sheamus barked, pulling Isabella along though she shot me a raised eyebrow over her shoulder. 

The show in Belfast was a hard hitting victory for the Brawling Brutes over Hit Row. I almost felt bad for Hit Row, the fans were clearly on the side of their fellow countrymen. Sheamus and Ridge had made plans to drive to the next show. We had an extra day between shows and it allowed Isabella and I to see more of the country. 

Sitting on the chair in our room, I snorted at a section in the book I was editing, causing Ridge to look at me from where he was shaving in the bathroom. 

“Is it the boob guy again?” he wiggled his eyebrows in reference to one of my authors who had no idea how to describe women’s anatomy. Then proceeded to wash his face off. 

I laughed in response, “no this is just the third time i’ve read this trend and I just don’t get it. Let me show you. Come here” I placed the paperwork down and stood to beckon him towards me. “Okay so in the book a girl might be looking down or looking away, she's distraught or for whatever reason and the guy gets his finger”

“Oh?” Ridge raised his eyebrow with a grin, “and?”

“And he lifts her chin up like…like look at me. You know? Think sexy.” I illustrated, using my finger on my own chin. 

 “Sexy? I ooze sexy. I got this. Let me try.” He rolled his shoulder and cracked his neck while I stifled a giggle “okay, stand over there” he pointed to the wall behind me. “Ready?”

 I nodded, biting my lip to keep from laughing. I leaned against the wall and looked down. I felt him approach and place one arm above my head, his body heat easily reaching me from the small space between us. His other hand slowly lifted my chin to look at him. His nose gently pressed against mine when I met his eyes and I realized why this trend was used. The gleam in his eyes when he met mine before glancing down at my lips made my breath hitch and I was suddenly very aware that he was only wearing shorts and the solid expanse of muscle that was his chest was pressing into me. My knees buckled slightly but Ridge caught me easily, a grin spreading across his face. 

“Where you going?” His hands wrapped around my thighs and pulled me up his body. “Where you going huh?” I laughed, wrapping my legs around his waist as he turned towards the bed. “You’re coming with me.”

Lyssa was radiating nervousness beside me. We were backstage at the Manchester show, waiting in the parking lot behind the arena for my family to arrive. She hadn’t stopped fidgeting with her clothes since we arrived. I grabbed her hand, giving it a comforting squeeze when I saw their car pull in and headed over to it. 

“Ridgey!!” my mum yelled the second she exited the car and I wrapped her in a hug, Lyssa waiting off to the side. She fussed over me for a second before my dad got around the car and clapped me on the back. 

I hugged him in return before turning to grab Lyssa’s hand and pull her forward. “Mum, Dad, this is Lyssa Hutchinson.” 

Mum rushed forward and pulled her into a hug. Lyssa seemed shocked at first but hugged her back with a shy smile in my direction. “It’s a pleasure to meet you, Ridge has told us so much about you!”

“It’s an honor to meet you as well” Lyssa replied, shaking my dad’s hand when mum released her. “I’m very happy to be here.” 

“We’re glad to have you, and get to see Ridge’s show in person. We haven’t been to once since Clash at the Castle.” Mum wrapped her arm through Lyssa’s. “Are Stephen and Peter here? I’d like to say hi before the show.” She started heading towards the door with Lyssa in tow, dad and I followed.

“No, no, I can’t possibly eat anymore.” Lyssa laughed as mum tried to share the chocolate dessert with her. They had become friends quickly. Dad told me they talked the entire show and then proceeded to scream louder than anyone during their match. “Excuse me, I have to visit the restroom” Lyssa pressed a kiss to my cheek before leaving the table. I watched her until she turned the corner to the restroom only to look back and find my parents watching me. 

“I think you’ve got yourself a real good one son.” Dad grinned, nodding his head in the direction Lyssa had gone. 

“I know, she’s amazing in every way.” I agreed. I looked at mum who was still watching me. “You ok?”

“She’s the one isn’t she?” her eyes welled up a little and I cleared my throat. 

Nodding my head, I grinned. “Ya mum, she’s my heart.” 

“I couldn’t ask for anyone better.” she replied, smiling at Lyssa when she came back to the table.

Having something a little different here, not really introducing a new team member per say, but a friend and ally of sorts. Here's Tom Bronson aka Tomcat, son of Ted Grant aka Wildcat! I love cats, look how many are in this pic, everyone's having a fun time (except Grant lol).

Tom debuted in Justice Society of America 2007, which I enjoyed tho it lacked the space for all those characters (a common problem I noticed in a lot of earth 2/jsa stuff), Since he was introduced in the first issue, you would think that he'd be a pretty important character onwards. But alas, he rarely got any focus past the early few issues, even in JSA All-Stars he wasn't given a lot of page time. Then new52 hit and he got erased, not sure if he's been re-introduced back yet.

He and Ted had a pretty good relationship in the book, Tom never blamed Ted for not being in his life and even actively keep up the distance as an adult. Up until Vandal Savage tries to attack them at least. Here in the TrWh au, it can be assumed Tom was discovered at an earlier age (he's 11 to Jason's 10 btw).

Also I said up there that Tom isn't a new team member, but I did wanted to do that originality. That's because in the comics, Tom really didn't like fighting at all when Ted meet him. And that's because Tom has a secret ability to transform into a werecat, something he inherited from his mother. Ironically he keep it secret from her, maybe that'll change in this au.

Ted seemed to help Tom get over his hang-up over fighting somehow, it's not really explained how exactly (like I said, Tom didn't get much focus past tho early issues).I wished that he kinda keep up his reluctant pacifism, it's a unique outlook in a world full of heroes and villains fighting each other.

So at the moment he's a non-combatant ally of the Outlaws, maybe that'll change later who knows.

Since I'm introducing him at at an earlier age, he's still in that anti-fighting mindset, and prefers to stay out of trouble. So he can't really help the team in combat issues, but they can still hang out and have fun in other ways.

Tom's tries to come off as cool and standoffish, but that seems to be a way to hide his skittish and kind-hearted nature. He's been feeling stressed and lonely, esp with how his mother is currently sick and bedridden. Perhaps some friends will do him good!

Here's Tom hanging out with the other Wildcats, his father and Yolanda Montez. Tom is fun to draw, esp in his werecat form. I might be making him more like a cat than a panther, but cats are so fun to draw. I'm basing some this of my mom's own cat, a black cat like Tom.

I really liked Yolanda, she had a real aura of confidence and was really outspoken about what she wanted. I admit I might be a bit biased, since I'm also a Latina as well (¯\_(ツ)_/¯). You can see her trying to 'help' Tom with training to fight, he doesn't seem to enthused with the idea. There's also Ted showing affection with his son, look at the mini cat suit, Tom is so done lol.

More of Tom spending time with Yolanda, they have fun together. Btw Yolanda might already be Wildcat at this point or at least just about to, a bit earlier than in canon but why not?

Jason messes with Tom, he can't help himself. Tom doesn't seem to know how to react with Jason sometimes, esp when Jason jokes around with him. But the jokes never feel too mean-spirited so it's not too much of a bother.

If you ever read Fruits Basket, then you know there's this character with the ability to call forth cats to him. Tom doesn't quite have that power but cats seem to gravitate to him anyways. Looks like Jason called in a favor for his little brother Damian.

Here's a comic that I'd meant to go on a little longer but couldn't think up of what to come next. It's meant to show how Tom meets the team and decides to become friends. Tom seems unsure and almost insecure about why he's being 'recruited' to be friends. Rose seems surprised at Tom's stance but Eddie seems happy to make another friend. But why does Jason want to be friends?

You know there's been some meta about how Jason probably wouldn't have mind not being Robin and just be the civilian son of Bruce Wayne. YMMV on whether you can agree with that or not, I can see reasoning for it tho it should be noted Jason was really ecstatic to be Robin. I'll keep it ambiguous on whether or not Jason would want to hang up the cape, but I keep this reasoning in mind for his interactions with Tom. Tom not wanting to fight at all is a viewpoint Jason has not really come across in his interactions with heroes. As said in the comic, he finds it 'interesting'. Perhaps he was also drawn to Tom's conviction in his ideals as well, maybe Jason finds it kinda admirable in a way.

The team Jason, Rose and Eddie made is in some ways a place to have fun and hang out, to escape from lonely and unhappy lives. It the same reason why other members of the team joined in, to just do things their own way and on their own time. Members come and go at their leisure (the team have multiple places to hang but no official headquarters) so it's a fairly casual and unrestricted type of team. Having a member who doesn't even fight is not really a problem. Though Tom sometimes feels lonely when team members go out on combat missions, and he gets left behind.

There's also the little detail of the team being 'unofficial', I don't think I ever shown that info before. Though I'll probably talk about that for another time.
