Im rereading the whispering skull rn and can we just talk about the fact that Anthony Lockwood is so emotionally in touch and he’s such a good friend. Like yes he’s got a massive ego and he tends to do everything himself but when it comes to his friends he genuinely cares about them and wants them to be happy. For instance Lockwood makes a comment to George about how he isn’t focused and he’s not doing enough for the company, to which George says nothing, he just cleans his glasses, which Lucy had noted earlier is a sign that he is “(a) utterly sure of himself, (b) irritated or (c) bored”. Lockwood knows George well enough to know that it’s actually the secret fourth option: (d) upset. He immediately recognizes that he went too far and was being unfair and he apologizes in a very genuine although slightly uncomfortable way as only teenage boys can do. And if anything that makes the realization and apology more meaningful because yeah it was uncomfortable but it means enough to him not to hurt George that he’s willing to have an uncomfortable moment. Not only that but when George brushes off the apology and goes to make hot chocolate Lockwood goes to help him. Like he’s so emotionally intelligent for someone who bottles everything up. He doesn’t play when it comes to his friends.

Anthony Lockwood the man you are. He’s got a huge ego but he’s the first to admit he’s wrong and apologize when he can see he’s hurt one of the people he cares about. He refuses to let anyone help him but heaven forbid one of his associates has to cut their own toast. He won’t open up about anything but he leaves such a safe and open space for his friends to share how they feel and open up about themselves.

One scene that I love is when they are in the car, going to the cemetery and the ghosts cult are hitting the car, Lucy looks like "omg this people are crazy", George was like 🤷"nothing diferent" and Lockwood says "sorry, there's no autographs tonight. Thank you, though."
