How to Get a Personal Loan Without a Bank Account
In today’s world, having a bank account is usually a requirement for obtaining a personal loan. However, if you do not have a bank account, there are still ways to access financial assistance. Whether you need urgent funds for medical expenses, home repairs, or other personal needs, some lenders offer alternative lending solutions. This article will explore how to secure a personal loan without a bank account and what options are available for borrowers in such situations.
Is It Possible to Get a Personal Loan Without a Bank Account?
Yes, it is possible, but it can be challenging. Many lenders require a bank account to deposit loan amounts and set up automatic repayments. However, some financial institutions and alternative lenders provide options for borrowers without traditional banking relationships. These loans often come with higher interest rates and different repayment structures.
Alternative Ways to Get a Personal Loan Without a Bank Account
1. Credit Unions and Community Lenders
Credit unions and community-based lenders may offer personal loans without requiring a bank account. They often consider factors like income, employment status, and credit history rather than just banking details.
2. Microfinance Institutions
Microfinance institutions provide small loans to individuals who lack access to traditional banking. These lenders operate with minimal paperwork and may disburse funds through prepaid cards, mobile wallets, or cash payments.
3. Payday Loans and Cash Advance Lenders
Payday loans are short-term, high-interest loans that do not necessarily require a bank account. Instead, lenders may request proof of income and a valid identification document before approving the loan.
4. Pawnshop Loans
Pawnshops provide secured loans against valuable items such as gold, electronics, or vehicles. Since these loans are collateral-based, they do not require a bank account. However, failure to repay the loan can result in the loss of your pledged asset.
5. Salary-Based Loans from Employers
Some companies offer salary advances or employer-backed loans. If you work for an employer that provides this benefit, you may be able to borrow against your future paycheck without needing a bank account.
6. Digital Wallet and Mobile Loan Apps
With the rise of fintech companies, many digital wallets and loan apps offer instant loans. Some of these apps allow users to receive funds in mobile wallets rather than bank accounts, making them an ideal choice for those without traditional banking.
Steps to Take When Applying for a Personal Loan Without a Bank Account
1. Check Your Credit Score
Even without a bank account, having a good credit score can increase your chances of loan approval. If your credit history is poor, consider improving it before applying.
2. Gather Required Documents
Lenders will still require proof of income, identification, and sometimes a guarantor. Be prepared to provide salary slips, business income records, or other financial proof.
3. Choose the Right Lender
Research and compare lenders that provide loans without requiring a bank account. Check their interest rates, repayment terms, and customer reviews to find the best option.
4. Provide an Alternative Mode of Payment
Some lenders may disburse funds through checks, prepaid debit cards, or mobile wallets. Be sure to ask about available payment options in advance.
5. Consider a Co-Signer or Guarantor
If your credit score or financial standing is not strong enough, having a co-signer with a bank account can increase your chances of loan approval.
6. Understand the Loan Terms
Read and understand all loan terms, including interest rates, fees, and penalties for late payments. Avoid predatory lenders who charge excessively high rates.
Pros and Cons of Getting a Personal Loan Without a Bank Account
Pros:
Provides access to emergency funds for individuals without a bank account.
Some lenders offer flexible repayment terms.
Alternative lending options may not require a strong credit history.
Cons:
Higher interest rates and fees compared to traditional bank loans.
Limited loan amounts and strict repayment terms.
Risk of losing collateral if opting for a pawnshop loan.
Final Thoughts
While obtaining a personal loan without a bank account can be challenging, it is not impossible. By exploring alternative lending options, preparing necessary documents, and choosing a reputable lender, you can successfully secure a loan that fits your needs. However, be cautious of high-interest rates and ensure that the repayment terms are manageable to avoid financial stress in the future.
If you are considering taking a personal loan, always conduct thorough research to find the best financial solution tailored to your situation.

Literally the lyrics to the song. Y'know what pays the rent on your humble flat and helps you at the automat? That ice you get or else no dice, because once the louses go back to their spouses (or divorce them, but square cut or pear shaped the rocks don't lose their shape), a girl can sell the diamonds.
When you are legally barred from banking or owning real property, very valuable very portable commodities are your best friend. Just small enough to fit in a suitcase, and able to buy a future without him.

Women's Not So Distant History
This #WomensHistoryMonth, let's not forget how many of our rights were only won in recent decades, and weren’t acquired by asking nicely and waiting. We need to fight for our rights. Here's are a few examples:
Tumblr media
📍 Before 1974's Fair Credit Opportunity Act made it illegal for financial institutions to discriminate against applicants' gender, banks could refuse women a credit card. Women won the right to open a bank account in the 1960s, but many banks still refused without a husband’s signature. This allowed men to continue to have control over women’s bank accounts. Unmarried women were often refused service by financial institutions entirely.
Tumblr media
📍 Before 1977, sexual harassment was not considered a legal offense. That changed when a woman brought her boss to court after she refused his sexual advances and was fired. The court stated that her termination violated the 1974 Civil Rights Act, which made employment discrimination illegal.⚖️
Tumblr media
📍 In 1969, California became the first state to pass legislation to allow no-fault divorce. Before then, divorce could only be obtained if a woman could prove that her husband had committed serious faults such as adultery. 💍By 1977, nine states had adopted no-fault divorce laws, and by late 1983, every state had but two. The last, New York, adopted a law in 2010.
Tumblr media
📍In 1967, Kathrine Switzer, entered the Boston Marathon under the name "K.V. Switzer." At the time, the Amateur Athletics Union didn't allow women. Once discovered, staff tried to remove Switzer from the race, but she finished. AAU did not formally accept women until fall 1971.
Tumblr media
📍 In 1972, Lillian Garland, a receptionist at a California bank, went on unpaid leave to have a baby and when she returned, her position was filled. Her lawsuit led to 1978's Pregnancy Discrimination Act, which found that discriminating against pregnant people is unlawful
Tumblr media
📍 It wasn’t until 2016 that gay marriage was legal in all 50 states. Previously, laws varied by state, and while many states allowed for civil unions for same-sex couples, it created a separate but equal standard. In 2008, California was the first state to achieve marriage equality, only to reverse that right following a ballot initiative later that year.
Tumblr media
📍In 2018, Utah and Idaho were the last two states that lacked clear legislation protecting chest or breast feeding parents from obscenity laws. At the time, an Idaho congressman complained women would, "whip it out and do it anywhere,"
Tumblr media
📍 In 1973, the Supreme Court affirmed the right to safe legal abortion in Roe v. Wade. At the time of the decision, nearly all states outlawed abortion with few exceptions. In 1965, illegal abortions made up one-sixth of all pregnancy- and childbirth-related deaths. Unfortunately after years of abortion restrictions and bans, the Supreme Court overturned Roe in 2022. Since then, 14 states have fully banned care, and another 7 severely restrict it – leaving most of the south and midwest without access.
Tumblr media
📍 Before 1973, women were not able to serve on a jury in all 50 states. However, this varied by state: Utah was the first state to allow women to serve jury duty in 1898. Though, by 1927, only 19 states allowed women to serve jury duty. The Civil Rights Act of 1957 gave women the right to serve on federal juries, though it wasn't until 1973 that all 50 states passed similar legislation
Tumblr media
📍 Before 1988, women were unable to get a business loan on their own. The Women's Business Ownership Act of 1988 allowed women to get loans without a male co-signer and removed other barriers to women in business. The number of women-owned businesses increased by 31 times in the last four decades.

Tumblr media
📍 Before 1965, married women had no right to birth control. In Griswold v. Connecticut (1965), the Supreme Court ruled that banning the use of contraceptives violated the right to marital privacy.
Tumblr media
📍 Before 1967, interracial couples didn’t have the right to marry. In Loving v. Virginia, the Supreme Court found that anti-miscegenation laws were unconstitutional. In 2000, Alabama was the last State to remove its anti-miscegenation laws from the books.
Tumblr media
📍 Before 1972, unmarried women didn’t have the right to birth control. While married couples gained the right in 1967, it wasn’t until Eisenstadt v. Baird seven years later, that the Supreme Court affirmed the right to contraception for unmarried people.
Tumblr media
📍 In 1974, the last “Ugly Laws” were repealed in Chicago. “Ugly Laws” allowed the police to arrest and jail people with visible disabilities for being seen in public. People charged with ugly laws were either charged a fine or held in jail. ‘Ugly Laws’ were a part of the late 19th century Victorian Era poor laws.
Tumblr media
📍 In 1976, Hawaii was the last state to lift requirements that a woman take her husband’s last name.  If a woman didn’t take her husband’s last name, employers could refuse to issue her payroll and she could be barred from voting.
Tumblr media
📍 It wasn’t until 1993 that marital assault became a crime in all 50 states. Historically, intercourse within marriage was regarded as a “right” of spouses. Before 1974, in all fifty U.S. states, men had legal immunity for assaults their wives. Oklahoma and North Carolina were the last to change the law in 1993.
Tumblr media
📍  In 1990, the Americans with Disability Act (ADA) – most comprehensive disability rights legislation in U.S. history – was passed. The ADA protected disabled people from employment discrimination. Previously, an employer could refuse to hire someone just because of their disability.
Tumblr media
📍 Before 1993, women weren’t allowed to wear pants on the Senate floor. That changed when Sen. Moseley Braun (D-IL), & Sen. Barbara Mikulski (D-MD) wore trousers - shocking the male-dominated Senate. Their fashion statement ultimately led to the dress code being clarified to allow women to wear pants.
Tumblr media
📍 Emergency contraception (Plan B) wasn't approved by the FDA until 1998. While many can get emergency contraception at their local drugstore, back then it required a prescription. In 2013, the FDA removed age limits & allowed retailers to stock it directly on the shelf (although many don’t).
Tumblr media
📍  In Lawrence v. Texas (2003), the Supreme Court ruled that anti-cohabitation laws were unconstitutional. Sometimes referred to as the ‘'Living in Sin' statute, anti-cohabitation laws criminalize living with a partner if the couple is unmarried. Today, Mississippi still has laws on its books against cohabitation.

While we are on the subject - financial abuse is not always just physically taking money away or not having a savings account or escape stash. For a lot of people it is the other spouse sabotaging your credit score, constantly overspending, and you being unable to trust that joint household bills and loans are paid. Did you know that once you add an authorized user to your bank account it’s nearly impossible to remove them without their permission? Did you know that your spouse, who likely knows your birthday and SSN, can often gain access and reset passwords for any online accounts and create new ones?
Financial abuse will ruin your life and there’s really nothing except significant time that fixes it. If you are in a situation where you think this might happen to you you should freeze your credit with all three major agencies. You can find info on how to do this at USA.gov/credit-freeze
This is not something that only happens to tradwives. You are not exempt because you are independent or competent.

I Am In Deep Shit
hi, everyone. your friendly neighborhood reach slash your friendly neighborhood @classpectanon here.
I currently have 400 dollars in my bank account, 250 of which is earmarked for next week and 250 more of that (500 total) is earmarked for the week after that, for recurring expenses that are *not* food, medicine, or rent. that is to say, without any assistance, not counting how much i need to pay for food, medicine, or rent, for my household of three (plus several cats), I am 100 dollars in the hole.
To add to that, I have straight up not been able to pay my rent this month - I talked to my landlord, and they said, okay, cool, just pay it next month. So, when I get paid, that *entire paycheck* is going to get eaten by double rent. my other household members cannot work (both are disabled, and one is an immigrant who cannot legally work now anyway), so without some more outside help it is very possible I could end up in a total money black hole. Due to my Not Great parents, I do not have any credit history, and cannot take out a loan or credit card to smooth things over. I am trying everything I can but it is very likely that within a week or two I just straight up will not be able to buy groceries or medication (including my nerve medication so I can use my legs, and my spouse's antipsychotics so they don't go literally insane).
I would like for this not to happen!
I *hate* e-begging. I loved that six month period where I had a fruitful second job that meant I didn't have to e-beg. But if I don't get some outside help then I very well may not be able to survive to a point where things are stabilized. So, anything you'd be willing to help chip in with, whether that be one singular US dollar or a reblog, would be appreciated.
Thank you. Anything is appreciated. DM me proof of payment and I will make you some art if you want an incentive.

18th of December
$125
Y/N blinked at the number being displayed on her phone’s screen. She had stopped right in the middle of what she was doing, in utter disbelief of her discovery. Her whole process of thoughts seemed to have frozen; just like her computer would display “error 404” when she would perform contradictory actions.
She didn’t understand how this was possible; something was wrong obviously wrong because she didn’t expect this number to be displayed. Refusing what she was seeing, she logged out of the app and then back in a couple of times.
Yet, every time, the sentence was the same.
$125
Despite everything, this was currently the amount of money Y/N had on her bank account. These past couple of months, she had been saving for this moment; a moment she had been imagining all year long and for which she expected to be shredding happy tears. Instead, the tears currently running down her cheeks were made of pure anger.
She found the culprit quite easily. A monthly interest payment of a loan that was playfully mocking her on top of her bank statement. Now that she was thinking of it, she should have probably read all those letters; the ones with the red-inked stamp “urgent” printed on them. She had found all the excuses in the world: especially how exhaustive was she after having worked double shifts almost every day lately or that it had just been easier to have them sitting on her coffee table.
Y/N had no idea what she would do. If $125 was probably quite enough to eat until the end of the month if she made a few compromises, there was no way she would be able to buy flight tickets to get home for Christmas. She would have brought them earlier if she had been able to – at a time she still had the money on her bank account, for example – but her colleague had only confirmed that same day they could take over her shifts during the Christmas week. Now, she didn’t have any money and would be alone for the year-end celebration.
Her cell phone ringing made her snap back to reality. She was still in front of her building, keys in one hand, frozen in her action to enter. Her heart sunk has she discovered the picture displayed on the screen; her sister and her, one of the last pictures they had taken together, at Y/N’s university graduation ceremony, a couple of weeks before the blip. Her sister was most likely calling her about this “very good news” Y/N had texted her about that afternoon. Now, she only had to let her know that it had been a false alarm and that she wouldn’t be able to make it home this year.
Again.
It wouldn’t be the first time indeed. In fact, ever since the blip had been reversed, Y/N had not been home for the Christmas. At first, she had chosen not to. She was the only person in her family to have been gone. Without her, they all had continued with their lives, and the post-blip had been brutal for her. One second, she was full of life: she had just gotten an amazing job in New York, and she was going to live her dream. The other, the blip had happened, five years had passed, and she had lost everything. Her family, her job, herself. Her little sister was now older than her, graduating college and ready to start a family. Her parents had retired and started a new life in California. She didn’t have a dream job anymore; she had no job at all in fact. In this world that had changed so much, she felt out of places. So, she did what she thought was could do. She left everyone behind and moved to New York.
The months after moving there had been full of hope. Hope that she could still make it to her dream job and life after all. She had gotten in touch with associations working on helping people post-blip. They said: if she took a few classes, she could be retrained on the most up to date information and she would be able to get the job she had always dreamt of after all. Yet, it was even worse than college. She had to work part-time to be able to take the night classes. She either worked or studied; leaving only a few minutes a day to eat, sleep and bath. This was until some court bailiffs came banging to her door. The banks had been quick to be back to find the people that had disappeared and were now asking them to provide the past five years’ debt payment. All of her dreams had been shattered yet again.
Determined not to ask for help, Y/N stayed in New York and totally forgot about her dreams. Instead, she found another job at a bar-restaurant – one that paid better than the cashier part-time job she had until that – and worked there ever since, trying to pay off her initial student loan and the other loan she had had to take to be able to repay the requested five-years’ worth of debt in one go. She was now planning every spendings up to the last penny. She was living off diluted body and hair shower gel and all sorts of techniques to have the impression of having eaten a lot more than she had. Yet, it hadn’t been enough.
It was never enough…
Drying off her tears, she answered her phone and stuck it against her ear with her shoulder while she entered the building. She was quick to break the news to her sister. She kept her voice steady, not showing any emotions to shorten the conversation as much as possible. She did so as she collected her mail and then turned to take the stairs up to her apartment.
On the phone, Y/N didn’t see her neighbour coming down the stairs and eventually run straight into him. She would have fallen down the two steps she had just climbed if he hadn’t caught up by the arms at the very last moment.
"For fuck’s sake!" he sighed angrily. "Can’t you watch where you’re going?"
Y/N only answered by rolling her eyes. She picked up her phone from the floor; her sister was still on the line, calling after her. While she turned it to her, she discovered her screen totally shattered. She would have cried if she could have…
Without further ado, she put her phone back to her ear and continued to go up the stairs. Her neighbour – a guy that moved in a couple of months ago and that was hardly saying ‘hello’ the few times they had seen each other in the hall – huffed and without thinking nor turning back, Y/N flipped him off. She would probably be ashamed of this later, but at that moment, she couldn’t care less of what he would think of her.
She couldn’t care less about anything anyway.
Tumblr media
20th of December
Two days later, as Y/N was slowly accepting the fact that she would not be with her family for Christmas, she encountered her favourite neighbour in the hall again.
She had just gotten home from work and was collecting a parcel in her letterbox. This was a present for her sister that she wouldn’t be able to give her in the end and for which she couldn’t even pay stamp to ship it to her home. She would be lucky if she could return it and get a few dollars back.
As she was closing her letterbox, her neighbour entered the hall. Feeling a little guilty about the other night, Y/N’s first thought was to apologies for her behaviour. A quick look at the guy and the constant frown on his face made her swallow her saliva; hard.
He was good-looking though, with his blue-piercing eyes and full lips. The stubble on his chin –always of the same length whenever she would see him – let her think that he was taking care of himself; though the way he dressed was clearly demonstrating he wasn’t really on point on the fashion side. If he wasn’t always so… whatever he always was… she probably would have liked him. With his grumpy looks, he reminded her of this movie character she liked so much when she was a kid: the Grinch.
In silence, Y/N watched from the corner of her eyes as he also checked his mailbox, a couple of meters away from hers. After gathering the few letters in the box, he sighed and abruptly closed the door.
“What now?” he asked as he turned to her.
Y/N jumped to the tone of his voice. He was clearly annoyed at her while she hadn’t done anything. At least that day.
“No need to be a dick,” she quickly bit back, annoyance building up in her voice as much as his, and he huffed again – this seemed to be something he would do a lot. She had to take a quick deep breath before continuing: "I wanted to… apology for the other night.”
The words nearly burnt her mouth as she was saying them. It cost her a lot to admit her wrongs, yet his cold eyes only started at her, and he spoke no words back. She didn’t know how she wanted him to react, but his absence of reaction startled her, and only made her want to justify herself further.
“I wasn’t in a good mood,” she added.
“You are not the only one to have bad days,” was all he said before leaving.
Taken aback, Y/N watched as he climbed the stairs and disappeared out of his sight. She couldn’t believe how much of a jerk he had been. She swore this was the last time she would ever speak to him.
Tumblr media
22nd of December
Y/N rarely overslept.
The only reason for that was that she didn’t sleep a lot. Ever since the blip, she had trouble finding sleep and then, staying asleep. It was like her body had a big fear of missing out on everything and anything, so it just let her sleep the number of hours she needed to keep going. She would have thought that with the double shifts she was doing, she would have slept better, but she didn’t. Instead, she stayed wide awake in her bed, fixing the ceiling, eyes heavy with tiredness. She had all this time to think about the misery of her own life.
However, it seemed that night that the tiredness had gotten the most out of her, and as she never set an alarm clock – because she rarely needed, she was now going to be late for work. She took only a couple of minutes to get ready, drink a coffee and brush her teeth all at the same times. Ten minutes later, she was already grabbing her stuff and putting her coat on.
As she opened the door of her apartment, she came face-to-face with her neighbour going up the stairs. They both immediately stopped in their tracks.
He looked at her. Her eyes still puffy from the fact she had still been sleeping less than fifteen minutes ago. Hair all other the place even if she had put hair clips in them to keep them into place. She had dressed up in such a hurry, the shirt of her uniform was halfway in and halfway out of her pants.
She looked at him looking at her. With the same frown on his face and the same cold glance. Just this time, the circles around his eyes were darker than ever and he looked much more tired than her. For the first time, she saw something vulnerable in him, a flash of sadness in the blankness of his face.
They looked at one another. So different yet somehow similar. With their inability to sleep properly, the memories that kept them up at night and their resentment about this life that had been taken away from them. Both of them with all their trauma and weaknesses. With their constant melancholy and sometimes, their good days.
They looked at each other some more and then they both continued on with their day.
Tumblr media
24th of December
Y/N was just settling on her couch – which was also her bed – in front of the TV, wrapped in her fluffy blanket and two pairs of fleece socks on her feet when she heard a knock on her door. She froze instantly; bad memories coming back to her in an instant. She had been visited a few times by different people always banging on her door at sunrise; each time, it never had ended well. Per pure reflex, she held her breath as if whoever was on her front door would be able to hear her - the walls were probably thin, but not this thin.
After counting to ten and not hearing anything else, she relaxed into her sofa. It was probably just her imagination at this point, this was how tired she was. She reached for the remote on the coffee table and started an episode of her favourite TV show. This was when she heard a knock for the second time. One time too many for her.
This time she paused her show and got on her feet to have a look. Sulking for the five steps it took her to go to the front door, she opened it bluntly and was surprised to find her neighbour ‘The Grinch’.
He looked at her, surprised and she looked at him, probably even more surprised. Her gaze turned instinctively to her feet and the fluffy pyjamas she was wearing. She couldn’t help the heat crawling up her neck, so she looked back to him and her eyes got stuck on his hands. One of flesh and one of metal. Holding a metal box between them. That he was now holding up to her.
She frowned.
“For you.”
Her eyes moved up to his face again, to check if he was serious or not. She could have fallen asleep the minutes her show started and be dreaming; though from how cold her feet were, she was pretty sure she wasn’t. Nothing on his face indicated he was joking – he didn’t seem to be the type to joke anyway. He wasn’t actually frowning, but he still had a small wrinkle in between his two eyebrows from all the frowning he was doing that somehow it still looked like he was. She wouldn’t say the expression on his face was friendly, but it had something that for once made her not want to close the door on his face.
Perhaps, it was because of the straight line his lips were in. They which were was usually so pink and so… luscious. From that, she couldn’t tell what he was feeling right now – was he nervous? Or simply contemplating all his life choices now that he was in front of her. She knew it was costing him to be here in front of her.
She looked back at the metal box in his hands; was he really expecting her to take it?
“My ma’ used to cook cookies for our neighbours,” he stated as if it was the most obvious thing in the world. His glance adverted to the ceiling as if he was looking for the right words to continue: “I thought maybe… this was a good way to apologize. For the other day…and all the times before that.”
This time, it was Y/N’s time to stop frowning – she would have to check later if she had also a wrinkle. She took the box he was handing her and nodded, in some sort of way to mean ‘thank you’. The box was heavier than she had expected it to be. She wondered if he had made them himself, like his ‘ma’ was probably doing.
“My name is Bucky by the way.” Was all he said before leaving her like that, a box of cookies in her hands.
Tumblr media
25th of December
Working at a restaurant had its own perks. One of them being that Y/N could have at least one meal a day in the form of the staff meal. And on special occasions – like today – she could even get home with leftovers, most of them she would normally stock up in her freezer to make sure she had something to eat in the next couple of days.
That day though, when she climbed up the stairs, she didn’t stop on the second floor where her apartment was. Instead, her feet got her to the fourth floor, on the second door on the right. One she had never been to and yet, she knew exactly where to find it.
She didn’t hesitate one second before knocking, though the few seconds she had to wait she did get cold feet and wonder if it was really a good idea. Bucky did have gifted her handmade cookies – she had eaten a couple after he left while watching her favourite show, and it was the best she probably ever had. However, it did not mean they were now friends. They were just two adults, seeing each other in the hall of their building sometimes. That was all… Then, why was she so damned pulled towards him?
Bucky opened the door when she was about to turn around. He had a blank tank top and black pants on. Thankfully, he did not seem to be in the middle of a Christmas dinner and his apartment was pretty quiet behind him. His usual frown had been replaced by raised eyebrows. He was surprised to see her, on Christmas day, in her work clothes, at his door. He would have probably expected her to be in her family, with her friends or boyfriend, even. Instead, she had nowhere better to be than in front of him, right now.
They stared at each other for what seemed to be a long time, before his cat – Alpine as he called after, while trying to stop it to get outside his apartment – came to rub itself against her legs. She immediately lowered herself to scratch it behind the ear and Bucky observed them without a word. His cat, who was usually more than a little fearful of people it didn't know, was on the verge of lying down on the floor and beg for belly rubs.
“Are you on your own too?” was the only thing he spoke, and she got back on her feet, suddenly remembering why she was actually here.
“Wanna share?” she asked while showing him the paper bag in which she had the leftovers from the restaurant.
His eyes scanned her face a little too long for Y/N’s liking that she grew nervous. She felt like an idiot, believing… whatever – she wasn’t even sure she was believing. She was just lonely, having been alone for too long. The only people she hung out with would be her colleagues, on her work time – and they had taken a drink together after work a time or two. Most of them were students or only planning to be in the job for a couple of months before bouncing back. None of them was like her, as if she had been the only one to disappear off of the surface of the earth.
Over the last few years, she had repeated to herself – over and over again – that she didn’t need anyone. It was true somehow; she was fine alone. It was just that today she wanted a break from all of this, and she had thought of him. Because she had seen the veil before his eyes. She had seen it on hers before. She knew why… He was just like her. And perhaps, she had thought, they could be alone together. That was what they called the Christmas spirit, no?
“I mean, I’ve got more than enough, and you can have some. We don’t need to eat together. Totally fine if you wish to be alone.” She overexplained, speaking so fast he couldn’t say a word, even if he wanted to. She was just going to go home anyway. It was probably already late in the day; she would eat some food because she could – it was a victory on its own. “And you’ve probably already eaten, it’s fine. Don’t mind me.”
She was going to turn around, but he stepped on the side, making room for her to get in. Alpine instantly trotted in, its tail straight as a pick.
“I’ve got Gin,” was all he said again. A man of a few words he was.
And that was how they would both of them spent their first Christmases with someone in years. They would drink gin, try a bit of every leftover Y/N had gotten and finish by some kind of French pastry neither of them knew how it was named. They would speak for hours – or sort of, it was a few words here and there, making sentences altogether. They would have a good time and when it was time for Y/N to go home, she would suggest doing it again and Bucky would smile in response. A soft smile that would warm her heart forever. A smile that illuminated his whole face and probably his life.
And perhaps that was what exactly what she had come to find that night.
Some warmth.

part two - masterlist
nikolai x f!reader
cw: stalking, mention of alcohol, male masturbation MDNI
Tumblr media
By all accounts, you need a return address to ship to Latvia.
Rather, you need a return address to ensure your package doesn't get opened by customs, where agents will laugh at best, or steal your panties at worst. Maybe even steal your DNA? To what end, anyway? No! Worse than that - what if they used their connections to trace the package back even without your address and -?
One is predictably unsympathetic.
» Then send it with one.
It doesn't surprise you that he thinks you're that dumb.
You toy with the idea of leaving a random address in the return spot and cringe when you imagine a surly Russian man accosting some random family four states over. It's a mental image you carry with you over the next week, playing it on repeat every time you get cut off in traffic, or you find a coworker has pissed on the toilet seat without cleaning it up. Once, you even catch yourself thinking of it when a particularly annoying regular dominates your feed during a regularly scheduled live performance.
But One is not your knight in shining fiber optic cable. Neither do you actually wish to inflict him on anyone.
So you send it without a return address, watch the shipping updates closely, and feel your stomach slowly boil when it sits for five business days at an importing station. Evidently, One watches it as well.
» You did not do as I asked.
He's uninterested in your offer to refund his money - half now, half later. All you can manage.
» If I wanted my money back I would simply cancel my subscription and request a chargeback from the service.
» I want what I purchased.
Talk of chargebacks makes you flighty. There are only two things you know about One, those being that he is very wealthy, and very rude. The bane of all customer service operators. You don't think it's likely the service would honor a reimbursement for a tip issued over a week ago, but it's not something you want to risk seeing as, unlike your plan to split his reimbursement, OnlyFans would reach into your bank account with the cold unfeeling hand of a multi-million dollar company and steal it back all at once, a prospect you simply can't afford at this time, as embarrassed as you are to admit. Long ago you'd made a promise to yourself that any and all large tips received from this side gig would go immediately toward paying off debts - student loans, ill advised credit cards you'd taken out while still living off said loans. It was a decision that had done you nothing but good up until this very moment, when his money was already spent and you were staring down the barrel of having to pay him back using your own funds.
Or, barring that, he could cancel his subscription and not only get a chargeback for the remainder of his pay period (probably the year, knowing him - you'd have to check) but you'd also stand to lose your best customer. One you're not entirely sure how you managed to land in the first place and one whose income you'd likely never manage to replace. Already, One's singlehandedly paid off an entire card for you, and until now he's showed no signs of stopping.
« i'll fix it
It's a bold promise to make when you have no recourse, but one you don't see your way out of making.
» No, I will.
For as much as the line had made you nervous at the time, One does not make any overt moves to follow up on it that you can see. Lapses into an uncharacteristic sort of radio silence for a time. He even skips the next few liveshows, something that strikes you as very unlike him. One does not seem the type of man to let a service he's already paid for go unused. The first night it's kind of nice, seeing as he has an annoying little habit of just paying the target price within the first ten minutes because he 'doesn't have time for this' (funny, how he always has enough time to request a private cam after) but then it's three shows later and you've barely raised anything because, apparently, all your other customers are used to sitting back and reaping the benefits of One's impatience. Something you'll have to address. He stays out of your DMs, too. Offers no tips in exchange for personal requests.
You'd be lying if you said it doesn't light a fire under your ass, gets you chatting with other creators searching for ideas on how you can fix the situation. People much smarter than you say to cut your losses and just refund him. Be done with it. But mostly it just leaves you with a large level of concern. You know these people aren't dumb, but you can't imagine the level of trust they've placed in some of their own favorite customers. Maybe it's because they're lucky enough to have attracted nice people, or at least people with enough social aptitude to know how to pretend to be nice. Something to be said for One, he's never once let you forget he's not the sort of man you should trust with your personal information.
Finally, inspiration strikes in the form of another stupid suggestion, one creator admitting they've put their work address in the return slot. They do not comment on whether or not they used their legal name, but given their stage name contains the word anal, you have to assume.
No desire to let One know where you work, or even the town you're from, you begin to think about other nameless faceless organizations you can use as a fall back instead, finally settling on a random Walmart two states over. You use your stage name and post it, sending One the new tracking number along with a free vid of you getting the replacement pair all messy in hopes that he returns immediately to his normal spending.
Of course, he doesn't so much as thank you. When another two pass with no contact, you begin to grow concerned. You triple check your account to make sure he hasn't unsubbed, but he's still right there at the top - even with no tips given in over a week.
He's disappeared for a few days in the past, but this is different. You think. Or maybe it's not. You wouldn't know seeing as you don't know him. Seeing as he's never given an excuse for his absences. Not that you'd ever asked… It's normal to be worried for someone you talk with nearly every day, right? You don't know him, sure, but you'd be a bit worried if your favorite barista from the shop you frequent just up and left one day. And your income doesn't even depend on her.
Perhaps that's why you break character when he finally resurfaces, the joy on your face when you see his handle pop into chat the next night genuine. Your giddiness is infectious, even. At least one other regular bothering to welcome him back when you stop your stream dead just to say hi. Foam falls around you, slips over your bare skin down to the tarp laid over the floor where already a good foot of it has accumulated like a blanket of snow. It was an idea you'd been quite proud of, always a fan of a simple dance party. The foam machine was a small expense given the high engagement you've received so far, your subscribers happy enough to watch you shake your ass while covered in soap bubbles and glow sticks. The machine had already paid for itself, but now that One was back, you couldn't help the building hope that you'd even meet your goal for the night, which could make for a pleasant weekend full of meeting friends for drinks.
"Glad to see you're alive. Was getting a little worried about you," you grin, settling back into your roll easily. You pinch your tits between your arms as you mime snapping on a pair of gloves. "Got thinking maybe it was time for a visit from your favorite nurse."
But One is not feeling very playful tonight, if he ever is.
» Check your phone.
You huff and kick some foam at the camera obnoxiously, pleased when it falls short and hits the TV it's mounted on top of instead. You don't need to kill the mood even further by stopping to clean your lens. You eye it now, pretend you're staring up at him defiantly when you refuse, tell him you're in the middle of something with one hand snaking down your belly. On the TV below, large enough you can read even from the middle of the floor, you watch the feed as they would see it: yourself on the left while the chat bubbles in excitement on the right, egging you on. You nod at them, a silent promise, check to make sure your position looks good and that you've got a smattering of foam on you, at least enough to keep some mystery for them to unravel as the show continues -
» Now.
Irritation doesn't sell well, but sometimes you can package it as chastisement. "Play nice," you caution, voice whistling through clenched teeth. It's not One's thing specifically, but there are other regulars who you know will eat it up. "Gotta learn to share."
But One goes above and beyond simply not liking being nagged at.
He waits until your fingers are just barely tracing your thatch of curls, movement from your laptop screen catching your eye. You drop pretenses entirely when a new window opens, your private chat with One maximized so you cannot possibly miss it. Carving a path through the accumulated foam, you slink out of the field of view of the mounted camera, show long forgotten as you approach your laptop, mounting fear confirmed as you watch your mouse move across the screen of it's own accord to hit play on the video he'd evidently sent you while you were otherwise occupied.
You know what it will be based on the thumbnail, but it shocks you anyway. The panties he holds look like nothing more than candy floss in his thick fist, wrapped around a fat cock so tightly the lace is stretched. Distorted. It's weird, the things you notice when adrenaline bends time. The camera work isn't great, doesn't let you see his the root of his cock or even his belly. Its focus shifts a few times, undecided if it wants to settle on the display before it or the dark hardwood below. He wears a watch, a simple leather band nestled in a pelt of dark hair. His knuckles are dusted too, hiding the glint of a thick gold band on his pinky. Uncut, thick. He grunts the next time his foreskin pulls back enough to reveal his glistening head and your breath stutters with his when the lace catches, synthetic fibers relaxing back into a recognizable pattern as he eases them off, untangles it from his grasp to flatten against the table, flimsy gusset laughably small framed between the thumb and forefinger of his free hand.
His native tongue spills from him like his seed, molten and thick. Language, even if you can't understand it, is enough to tug at you and you yelp, your brief moment of shock fracturing enough to compel you into movement.
Tumblr media
Nik likes the way the suds paint her, the rainbow foam a nice contrast with her skin. It slides down the valleys of her body naturally, highlighting recesses he'd previously been unaware of. Pesky self consciousness, always framing herself so carefully to hide away the bits she think he won't like. They won't like, he supposes.
He's never minded sharing. Nature of the beast, paying for it. But he doesn't see why he should have to suffer the same experience as these others, not when he gives so much more.
It was one of the first issues that had lead him to this little perversion, the impersonal uniformity. The self-editing. He pays to see her body, not the careful curation of videos and stills which she deems tasteful enough. So he settles in behind the wrong camera most nights, his field of view lower. Off center. Only watches the proper stream - the one he actually pays for - when she looks dead at the camera to talk to him, ring light glowing eerily in her irises.
Close enough, for now.
He's logged into a burner account while he works himself up, watching as she bounces around her room to an obnoxious beat. Her audio mixing is off tonight, the club music she plays just a hair too loud. He likes to watch from alternate accounts sometimes, likes to see how well she fights her dismay when these other viewers struggle to collectively pay her bills. She's more likely to grant him special requests the longer he waits to show up, he's learned. Off the menu orders, she calls them. Cute, but not what he's looking for tonight.
Her thong hangs from the corner of his screen. He hates to have already ruined it, but consoles himself with the knowledge she'd been sweet enough to send him another pair. They won't smell as good, he's sure. Another censure she'll have placed on herself. None of the sweat from having been worn all day. But she tried. Wanted to please him. Desperate thing.
It's laughable, thinking Latvian customs would be able to stop him from acquiring what's his, but it's not like she would know that. It's why he prefers small, no-name performers like her. So unsuspecting. Passably genuine, smile growing on her face when he switches to his regular account, the one she has memorized. It makes his cock twitch, excitement growing when she showers him in attention, singles him out in the middle of her show. Forgets to keep dancing, even. As she should. He wonders if he paid for her new toy, the noisy machine currently leaving soap scum on her walls. Wonders if she'll let him pay for it again or if she'll have him summarily blocked within minutes. It won't matter, of course, but he's excited to see how she'll unfold. Another off-menu order. One more bridge too far.
What she gets, taking so much of his money yet never offering more. He just wants to see sides of her no one else has.
It's hard to control himself when she starts to get catty, shows her teeth. He'd imagined stretching this moment out a bit more, thoroughly ruining the mood for all other viewers. But when she looks right at her camera and tells him to behave, his breath goes ragged, and he has to let go of his cock to show the little bitch better - taking over her laptop to bring up the video he'd sent, a low grumble building in his chest like a warning when she slinks closer, as if proximity will give her a better understanding.
Three monitors, one for every angle of his omniscience. On the right, the chat in her official feed grows annoyed as she walks out of frame, a few of them even accusing him of foul play. Hero-types. He's going to enjoy watching them try to comfort her if she doesn't delete her account entirely after tonight - after he mouses over the video displayed on his middle screen, the mirror of her own laptop. On his left, she looms closer, expression open and honest in a way he's not seen it yet. Painted in the blue light of her monitor, it contrasts garishly with the heavy makeup she'd applied for the show, all warm-toned to match her pink neons; catches on the tiny pockets of popped soap bubbles which fleck over her cheek. It's not a good look, one she'd likely touch up before even taking a selfie for her Instagram account, a post-show teaser meant to make potential viewers feel like they'd missed out. And now that he's seen it, he knows how much he's been missing out, fist working over his cock with renewed vigor as he imagines all the ways he wants to see her now, all the ways he can, even if -
He fights the cursor when she tries to take control, but she's clever enough to know some keyboard commands. His right monitor blinks back to her profile when she cuts the feed, the middle one slowly returning to her home screen as she closes out of each window. She pulls away quickly after, palms clamped over her jaw as she breathes through the panic, soft belly caving with each pant. Foam still spews from the machine, dye having run out. It catches in her hair, paints her skin milky. He has half a mind to open a word doc on her computer, tell her she should skip the dye next time, the white more suggestive.
Doesn't get a chance. Cums when she scrambles back to the desk, his left monitor dropping the feed when she smartens up and rips the battery out of her laptop.
Left languid and lazy, he tracks her movements across her socials from his bed, thumbing through his phone. Detached, he watches her accounts blink out one after the other. A small city going dark under the approach of his hele. She deletes some outright, settles for blocking him on others. Even issues an apology to her viewers from a site she doesn't know he even has an account on. It's vague, boring. Doesn't mention him. He gets an email around midnight, her time, telling him to expect a refund for the remaining term of his payment, but is pleased to find her account still in place when he checks from a burner. The save of her live show is taken down shortly after, but he's not worried. Had it saved locally.
Can't rely on strangers from the Internet to behave, after all

TRANNIES IN NEED OF A NEW CLUTCH!
Tumblr media
Our clutch is slipping on us, acceleration is terrible, it could go out at any moment, which at highway speeds could get us killed. Currently my girlfriend has to Uber to and from work every day, a $70 round trip.
The clutch replacement will be about $400 for the part and $860 for the labor. The soonest the clutch can come in is next week. So that's four more days of Uber rides, another $280. A total of $1540. My bank account is overdrafted already and we have a ride to work scheduled for tomorrow but don't know how we'll get her the ride back. I'm looking at loans but my pre-approval will only get us out of the negative and not any further.
Tumblr media
Please, I know I've had to make too many of these posts in the past year, I hate ebegging, but our lives are falling apart. If we can't get this clutch replaced we are FUCKED and without a car.
If there's anything you can do to help, please, please share or donate...

So some stuff has happened, some of the loans I listed before have been paid, and I missed a few things, so I'm making a new post!
So, we still haven't heard about Section 8, and while I'm grateful for the shelter housing and feeding us, there's been some pretty toxic activity on my floor and I'm at my wit's end. I'm not sleeping well, I have constant headaches from grinding my teeth, and my blood pressure (which is already high and I'm already on meds for it) keeps being high when I get it checked. So we need to get housing with or without the Section 8 voucher as soon as possible.
Now, I have a list of low-income apartments all over North County. While not ideal, we have also heard of a complex of studio apartments available for $1400 which give preferential treatment to shelter occupants. But the problem is that I not only have a bunch of payday loans to pay, but I also have a payment on a two-month loan, a five-month loan, a six-month loan, and a year-long loan that eat up my entire income until I at least pay off the first three. My mom only gets $1300 and my daughter isn't on disability yet. So we can't even afford the studio until October and we'll have been kicked out of the shelter long before then.
I can probably cover the remaining payday loans and this month's payment for the two-month loan and still pay for the storage units. But I need to pay off whatever I can on the other loans, and the longer I wait the more interest that compiles. So I need a lot more than I was asking for before and I need it quickly to cover at least all of this month's payments while I work on paying off the totals of the bigger loans.
This is the list of payments I need to make as it stands now:
$300 for my loan from Ace Cash Express (due by May 2nd)
$300 for my mom's loan from Ace Cash Express (due May 2nd)
$408 for my loan payment from Ascend Loans (due May 3rd)
$277 for my loan payment from Greenline Loans (due May 3rd)
$177 for my loan payment from Green Arrow Loans (due May 3rd)
$148 for my loan payment to Possible Loans (due May 3rd)
$148 for my mom's loan payment to Possible Loans (due May 3rd)
$321.80 for my mom's loan from Moneylion (due by May 15th)
$285 for my Moneytree loan (due by May 25th)
$285 for my mom's Moneytree loan (due by May 26th)
I can't make partial payments on any of these loans except the Moneylion loans my mom has. I need the full amount for the payment to pay it off early, and for the four non-payday loans, I can't make an early payment but if I can cover the payments in my bank account with donations I'm good.
The Ascend loan was for $1,000. The Greenline loan was for $500. The Green Arrow loan was for $400. The Possible loans are $300 each, coming out as two payments of $148 (one this May, one in June) per loan. So I'm going to set two goals: covering all of the above payments and then covering the bigger loans as a whole throughout the month of May.
I can't take much more of the toxicity at the shelter at the moment, though I have hopes some of it will subside if the most toxic resident on my floor leaves this week like he's threatening to, but yeah. We just need to get all this paid off and get into housing of our own, even if it's just a studio for now. I'm including the $35 I got from a GFM towards the current totals because I spent all the rest of the money I had and I still haven't gotten that donation in my account yet.
TOTAL GOAL: $47/$4850
IMMEDIATE GOAL: $47/$2650
Goal has been met! However, the car is acting up, so we have to take it to our mechanic tomorrow. I may still need some help.

GOOD GRACES ──

Nothing was making sense.
It had been about a week since Christmas, and Isaac's gift to you—a sleek leather notebook with embossed initials—had already been filled with notes from your latest case. You hadn’t expected to dive in so deeply so soon, but the week had passed in a blur. The case itself seemed simple on the surface: one arrogant rich man owed another arrogant rich man money. The problem? The money hadn't been paid, and nearly eight months had passed since the deadline.
You leaned back in your chair, pressing the heels of your palms against your temples as if that might clear the fog in your brain. Why wasn’t this adding up? Every lead seemed to dissolve into nothingness, leaving only more questions behind.
The desk lamp cast a dim glow over your scattered notes, and you glanced at the name scribbled across the top of the page: Oliver. That was the client. You frowned, flipping through the notebook to a previous page where another name stood out: Ivan. The two men had been acquaintances—close enough for Oliver to lend Ivan a substantial amount of money. It wasn’t just a verbal agreement, either. Oliver had insisted on a formal contract, a safeguard for the sizeable loan.
You exhaled sharply and skimmed through your notes again. Ivan had started paying the loan back promptly after receiving it. Bank records showed three substantial payments made to Oliver over the span of three months—payments that covered about 70% of the debt. And then… nothing. No payments. No contact. Just silence.
You tapped the side of your pen against the notebook and stared at the next document in the stack: Ivan's bank statements. Something didn’t sit right. His accounts were practically drained after those payments, but there was an unusual expense that caught your eye—a sudden trip to Tanzania. You squinted at the details, double-checking the timeline. Why would Ivan, who clearly didn’t have the means to pay off his debt in one lump sum, suddenly spend money on an expensive international trip? The timing was suspicious at best.
The more you thought about it, the stranger it seemed. Ivan had been diligent in making payments. If he intended to disappear, why bother paying 70% of the loan back at all? It would have been easier to cut and run after the first payment—or to never pay anything at all.
You jotted down the growing list of questions in your notebook:
- Why did Ivan stop paying after covering most of the debt?
- What was so urgent or important about the trip to Tanzania?
- Was there something—or someone—waiting for him there?
The weight of the case settled heavily on your shoulders. There was something more to this than a simple unpaid loan. Ivan’s actions didn’t align with someone trying to evade their debts. Something—or someone—was interfering.
You set the pen down and leaned back in your chair, staring at the ceiling. If this was going to make sense, you’d need to dig deeper. Tanzania might hold the answers—or at least the next clue in the puzzle.
 ──
“Can we go to Tanzania?”
Isaac didn’t look up from the stack of papers on his desk. Instead, he let out a low chuckle, his amusement barely veiled.
You pouted, moving further into his study and dropping into the chair directly in front of him. Leaning forward, you rested your elbows on the desk and tried again.
“Isaac, I’m serious!”
“I’m sure you are,” he said without looking up, his tone light and teasing. “But what business, pray tell, do you have in Tanzania?”
You groaned dramatically, throwing your head back in frustration before sitting up straight. “It’s about my case!”
That got his attention. He set down his pen, finally meeting your gaze with a raised brow. “Go on, then. Explain.”
You leaned closer, your voice hurried and insistent. “This man—Ivan. He borrowed a huge amount of money from my client, Oliver. He paid most of it back, seventy percent to be exact, but then he just… stopped. No contact, no explanation. Instead, he vanishes and takes a sudden trip to Tanzania.”
Isaac tilted his head slightly, an unreadable expression on his face. “And?”
“And,” you said, exhaling sharply, “that’s the last anyone’s heard from him. He hasn’t paid the rest of the debt, hasn’t contacted Oliver, and now I can’t figure out why he’d suddenly drop everything to go there. It doesn’t make sense.”
Isaac took a slow sip from his glass of whisky, the amber liquid catching the light. When he finally spoke, his voice was calm and matter-of-fact.
“He’s dead.”
The words hit you like a freight train. For a moment, you just stared at him, your mind racing to make sense of what you’d just heard.
“What?” you finally managed, your voice barely above a whisper.
Isaac swirled the whisky in his glass, his gaze steady but distant. “Ivan. He’s dead. Asriel attempted to cover it up, but clearly, he didn’t do a very good job.”
“Asriel?” you echoed, your brows furrowing deeply. “Who the hell is Asriel, and what does he have to do with this?”
Isaac leaned back in his chair, the faintest hint of a smirk tugging at the corner of his mouth. “Asriel is a name you’ll want to remember. He’s not the type of man you want involved in something like this. If Ivan’s death is connected to him, you can bet it wasn’t an accident. He’s a colleague of mine.”
Your stomach churned as the implications settled over you. “So, you’re saying someone killed Ivan? And it wasn’t just some random tragedy in Tanzania?”
Isaac raised a brow, as if the answer were obvious. “Precisely. Tanzania wasn’t a coincidence. Someone orchestrated this, and Asriel’s involvement suggests it’s much bigger than unpaid debts.”
You felt a shiver run down your spine. The case had gone from puzzling to dangerous in the span of a single conversation.
 ──
Asriel had killed Ivan.
That was the conclusion you’d drawn after hours of pacing in the kitchen, replaying Isaac’s cryptic words over and over in your head. Isaac had left the house for a "business meeting," his tone deliberately casual, but you couldn’t shake the sinking feeling in your stomach. Would he really confront Asriel—or worse, collaborate with him? The idea that Isaac could be protecting a murderer gnawed at you like a persistent itch you couldn’t scratch.
Your pacing came to an abrupt halt. If Asriel was truly a colleague, wouldn’t Isaac have access to the case files? And if those files existed, they might hold the key to unraveling this entire mess.
The thought ignited a spark of determination. Without hesitation, you raced up the stairs, taking them two at a time, and headed straight for Isaac’s study. The faint scent of whisky and leather still lingered in the room, and the soft ticking of a clock seemed louder in the silence.
Your eyes darted to the large mahogany filing cabinet tucked neatly in the corner. You hesitated for a moment, glancing at the door to make sure you were alone. Then, with a deep breath, you crouched in front of the cabinet and began pulling open drawers, fingers flipping through the neatly organized files.
“Ivan, Ivan, Ivan,” you muttered under your breath as your fingers flew across the labels. “Come on, where are you?”
Then you found it—a thin folder marked ‘Ivan Volkov’ in Isaac’s clean, precise handwriting. Your heart skipped a beat. You pulled it out and laid it on the desk, your hands trembling slightly as you flipped it open.
A dossier on a woman named Rhene, complete with a photograph. The photo showed a woman with sharp features, her eyes calculating and intense. The accompanying notes were concise, detailing her connection to Ivan. It seemed Rhene had accompanied him on his trip to Tanzania, though her role remained ambiguous.
A sealed folder labeled "Crime Scene."The label alone made your stomach tighten.
A DNA analysis report. The samples listed weren’t Ivan’s or Rhene’s. Instead, the report highlighted genetic anomalies, with unsettling notes referencing non-human origins” and “predatory characteristics.”
You stared at the sealed folder, your breath catching in your throat. You knew you shouldn’t open it, but the pull of curiosity—and the need for answers—was stronger than your fear.
With trembling hands, you unfastened the clasp and opened the folder. The first photo hit you like a physical blow.
Mutilated. That was the only word that came to mind. Ivan and the woman, Rhene’s body—or what remained of it—was scattered in grotesque disarray. Limbs had been torn apart, some strewn across the room, others almost unrecognizable. The scene looked more like the work of an animal than anything human.
Your breathing quickened as your eyes darted over the images. Bite marks. They were everywhere, jagged impressions on what was left of Ivan’s torso, arms, and legs. It wasn’t just a random attack—it was targeted, deliberate.
You slammed the folder shut, stumbling backward as nausea clawed at your stomach. Your heart pounded, your vision blurred.
This wasn’t just a murder. It was a massacre.
If Asriel hadn't killed this man, Who—No, what had?
 ──
You had been sitting on the floor of Isaac’s study for exactly 24 minutes, nausea twisting your stomach into knots. The weight of what you’d seen refused to dissipate, the gruesome images replaying in your mind.
Suddenly, your work phone rang. The sharp sound startled you, making your blood run cold. You hesitated, glancing at the screen. Oliver.
For a brief moment, you debated ignoring it—dropping the case entirely and walking away from this madness. But you knew you couldnt. Not yet.
Alast, you answer on the fifth ring.
“Hello.” You say, trying not to sound uptight. The line crackled faintly before Oliver’s sharp, impatient voice cut through.
"Finally," he snapped. "I was starting to think you’d forgotten about me."
You swallowed, gripping the phone tightly. "No, Oliver. I’ve been working on your case."
"Good" he said curtly.
"Oliver," you said sharply, unsure if you even wanted to mention the man. "Do you know Asriel?"
Oliver’s silence was immediate, tense.
"Answer me," you pressed.
There was a pause on the line, and when Oliver spoke again, his voice was quieter but no less tense. "Why are you asking about Asriel?"
"I need to speak with him."
Oliver let out a bitter laugh. "You think you can just speak with Asriel? People like him don’t take calls from nobodies like you."
"Then give me the number of someone who can get me to him," you pressed. "You hired me to solve this, didn’t you? Help me do my job."
Oliver grumbled something under his breath before responding. "Asriel doesn’t deal with most people directly. But I know someone—Vic. He’s Asriel’s right-hand man, and I know him well enough to get you a meeting."
"Vic?!" you said. You curse at yourself, regretting sounding so surprised. Your breath hitched at the mention of Vic, memories of the man rushing back to you. His smooth voice, the way he’d tried to “take you off Isaac’s hands” like you were a burden or a prize—either way, the thought made your skin crawl. "Send me Vic’s number. I’ll handle it from here."
"Fine," Oliver said begrudgingly. "But if this goes south, it’s on you. Don’t expect me to dig you out of any trouble with these people."
"Trust me," you muttered, "I wouldn’t expect you to."
Oliver hung up without another word, leaving you gripping the phone tightly, the tension in your chest refusing to ease. Not a minute after you get a text from Oilver, it was Vic’s number.
The sight of it made your stomach churn, but there was no turning back now.
With a deep breath, you dialed the number, your fingers shaking slightly.
The line barely rang twice before a smooth, lilting voice answered. "Well, well. This is unexpected. To who do I owe the pleasure?"
"Vic," you said, keeping your tone measured. "I need to talk to Asriel."
There was a pause, and then a low chuckle. He recognized your voice. "Straight to business, I see. No pleasantries? No ‘How have you been, Vic?’ I thought we had something special."
You clenched your jaw, resisting the urge to snap at him. "I don’t have time for games. Can you get me to Asriel or not?"
"Tsk, tsk," he said mockingly. "Always so serious. But lucky for you, I’m feeling generous today. Why don’t you tell me why you’re so eager to see him? Did Isaac finally let you off the leash?"
You ignored the jab, your voice cold. "It’s about Ivan Volkov. And if you care about keeping Asriel’s name out of this mess, you’ll help me."
Vic hummed thoughtfully, his voice dripping with amusement. "Ivan, huh? That’s a dangerous name to be throwing around. But you’re in luck. I happen to like danger."
"Vic," you said sharply, your patience wearing thin.
"Alright, alright," he said, his tone turning playful. "I’ll arrange something. But only because I find you endlessly fascinating. Just promise me one thing."
"What?"
"Try not to get yourself killed before the meeting. It’d be such a waste of potential."
The line went dead before you could respond. You stared at the phone, your heart pounding. Vic’s words echoed in your mind, sending a shiver down your spine.
──
Three weeks.
Three weeks of complete radio silence.
The days dragged on, heavy with uncertainty. You told yourself that Vic was playing some twisted game, dangling the promise of a meeting just out of reach. But the longer you waited, the more your mind spiraled.
Isaac had noticed your unease, though you tried to mask it. Every time he asked, you brushed him off with a strained smile. "It’s nothing," you’d say, "just the change of season."
But the lie did little to ease his concern—or yours.
Vic’s words replayed in your head like a broken record: “Try not to get yourself killed before the meeting.”
Was it a warning? A threat? Were you being watched, stalked? Did Vic want you dead? You didn’t know, and the uncertainty gnawed at you. Every creak of the floorboards, every shadow in your periphery felt like a potential danger. Sleep became a luxury you could no longer afford.
Then, just as you began to consider calling Vic again—perhaps to demand answers, perhaps just to scream at him—your phone buzzed.
You froze, the device trembling in your hand as you checked the screen. It was an unknown number.
Your pulse raced. It had to be him.
With a deep breath, you answered. With a deep breath, you answered. "Vic. You arrogant son of a bitc—"
"Well, that’s not how you answer the phone now, is it?"
The voice was smooth, like silk over glass, and utterly unfamiliar. Not Vic.
Your heart sped up, a cold wave of fear washing over you. This wasn’t Vic.
"Who is this?" you demanded, your voice sharper than you intended.
The man on the other end chuckled, the sound low and rich, reverberating in a way that made your skin crawl. "Why, I believe you already know who I am. You’ve been asking around for me, haven’t you?"
The breath caught in your throat. Asriel.
“What did you use to kill Ivan?" you asked, forcing strength into your voice. "Whatever it was, it’s clearly inhumane. Something that shouldn’t be in the hands of someone like—"
The chuckle came again, softer this time, almost indulgent. "Careful now," Asriel interrupted smoothly. "They don’t like being referred to as ‘it.’ If you want to meet them, it’s important you learn a little respect."
Them?
“Has Isaac taught his own pet no manners?”
You were about to respond when a voice murmured faintly in the background. It was low, guttural, and laced with irritation. You couldn’t make out the words, but it sent a shiver down your spine.
"Asriel," they said, sharper now.
"Ah," Asriel drawled, the faintest edge of amusement in his tone. "Pet, come here. Come say hello to our curious little friend."
There was a pause, a rustling sound that could have been movement, and then a new voice entered the line. This one was different—softer but no less chilling.
The single word hit you like a cold blade to the spine.
"Hello."

author's note: this may be one of my personal favorites, i know many are a fan of the pet x pickle duo so i wanted to write an interaction a little more realistic.

summary: killing kim myeong-gil would bring many people satisfaction. as hyeon-ju, gun-woo, woo-jin and the others begin to plan on how to do it, choi knows that there's someone in seoul who would take part in it with much pleasure.
wordcount: 3.348k (i got a little bit excited, the other chapters gonna be shorter don't worry)
tw: swearing, almost-fighting, so just plain bloodhounds-things (i update this section with every new part of the story)
author's note: i watched the k-drama in one day, it's wonderful. a little explaining for the "y/h/c", i wrote it with creme-blonde haired character so i'd recommend some extreme or light color. other than that, it's free for every hair color!!
in the burger shop, the pregnant silence after gun-woo's confession about the loan and his mother's café shop was broken by the arrived burgers, brought by woo-jin. hyeon-ju's face became hard again.
"as you heard, my grandpa is no longer a loan-shark. he provides zero-interest loans to people in need. but we occasionally come across punks who try to take advantage of his good heart. yang jae-myeong was one of them. he lied about his mother needing to get an operation. he borrowed ten million won and vanished. it took me half a year to track him down. i saw him begging in front of a train station. at first, I thought he had really become homeless, but i noticed how clean his teeth were as I was passing by. so i tailed him, I found out that he and his goons were pretending to be homeless and stealing IDs from actual homeless people. they use the IDs to create shell corporations and open bank accounts. then they con loan sharks and take out loans anywhere from tens to hundreds of millions of won. this tactic was so professional, we thought there could be someone behind yang jae-myeong. i heard that this person had connections to yang jae-myeong. do you know him?"
after the photo was shown, they talked about how to follow yang jam-myeong's gang, but before the trio stood up from the table, hyeon-ju nodded to the guys to stay sit. digging into her jacket's pocket, she took out a piece of paper that seemed to be like a photo.
"before you begin stalking the gang, i want you to find this girl. i didn't have the time to talk to her, since i was searching for yang jae-myeong, but now i want you two to talk to this girl. gun-woo, tell her about the loans your mom signed and what happened after. she's hard-headed and kind of keeping to herself."
"fine, but who's she?" woo-jin asked, as gun-woo looked at the picture. long y/h/c hair, the mask was on her face, but she had wide, clear speaking eyes. ones like woo-jin's, the ones you look in and can read from them without a loud word.
"she's y/n. i heard my grandpa talk about him on the phone, this was the only picture i could get about her. she doesn't have instagram, facebook or any of these apps, i took this from my grandpa's office. it's possible that she won't open up to you, but it's a must to talk to her."
"yeah, i get it. but why do you want us to find her?" gun-woo was also interested about this question. was she an enemy? young kids can also be stolen by criminals and raised by them, to be as loyal as a dog can to do anything for theirs.
"y/n is good, don't worry. as far as i know from what my grandpa said on the phone, she is someone whose parents were close to my grandpa. she followed her father's track and trained herself in the most brutalist martial arts, like the israelite krav maga, the russian systema or muay thai."
"aisssh, i wouldn't want to confront her in any way", woo-jin said. gun-woo thought about these fights; he only saw muay thai on tv, and that seemed really dangerous in itself. he knew that as soon as they begin to track the girl, he's gonna search up the other two martial arts on his phone.
"yeah, me neither" gun-woo added.
"will you two do? and asking for her phone number?" hyeon-ju asked, the guys nodded.
"yes, of course. but i'll bring a white flag just in case", woo-jin answered as they stood up from the table.
a few hours later, gun-woo and woo-jin were on the streets, wandering around buildings.
"fuck, how can we find someone in a town where nearly ten million people lives?" woo-jin asked. gun-woo looked at the picture.
“hyeon-ju said that she’s a pro in martial arts. maybe we should look in the gyms?”
woo-jin patted his chest, “look, a real genius here.”
going to every gym around the town, gun-woo and woo-jin began to lose hope.
“maybe she’s working today or just doesn't feel like coming down to train.” gun-woo began to think about what to tell hyeon-ju if they don’t find the girl. she sure will be pissed or angry, but this is a really difficult task.
“aish, gun-woo, don’t be like that! would you say something like this? people like us, people who train daily, their safe place is the gym. feeling sad? go to the gym! feeling happy? go to the gym! did your date went well? go to the gym! you just broke up with your girlfriend? go to the gym! look, for every problem, there’s a solution, and the solution is called–”
as woo-jin talked and talked, gun-woo thought he’s hallucinating. on the other side of the crosswalk, a girl tapped on her phone. same (y/h/c) hair, same (e/c) eyes, the same way she dipped her shoulder as she looked behind her, even the black sweater was the same. she wasn’t tall, the arms of her sweater weren't puffed from muscles. maybe she isn’t y/n, but they can try.
“woo-jin, look. do you think that is her? y/n?” he asked, cutting off his friend. woo-jin looked at the picture, than at the girl, than at the picture again, and the girl again.
“honestly, how could we know if we don’t ask her?” woo-jin smiled, just as he always does when he’s in some doubtful situation. they began to walk behind the girl. she wore earphones. woo-jin went to tap her shoulder, but when he touched her shoulder, the girl turned around, grabbing woo-jin’s wrist to keep him still so she could punch him in the face, gun-woo hurried to stand beside woo-jin. the girl took out the earphones with her free hand.
“what the fuck do you want from me?” she asked, looking up from under her eyebrows, looking from one second to another at each of them, like she waited for some attack. she really was a pro, gun-woo said to himself. gun-woo had to admit that she was quite pretty. not like pretty girls from clubs or his high school and university, or the nurses at the marine, but some pretty girl that his mother would like to date him. he bent deep down.
“we are sorry to disturb you, but we have a question. we don’t mean harm, we don’t intend to hurt you” he said fast, and the girl let go woo-jin after looking at the guy, and making sure he nodded. the girl turned, pointing to one of the restaurants.
“can we talk while i eat? i just came out from training, i’m starving.” woo-jin and gun-woo nodded, following the girl.
“so, what did you want to ask?” the girl began eating. woo-jin looked at gun-woo, who watched her dainty fingers grabbing the utensils. he sighed and took out the photo, placing it down to the table so the girl could see, she stopped eating instantly. pulling up her eyebrows, she distanced from the table a little bit. before any of the guys could talk, the girl began to speak fast and stark. “are you from the police? the secret service or some fucking spy-bullshit? what the fuck do you want from me? it doesn’t matter, i shouldn't talk to any of you, i’m not gonna do this shit. how did you get this photo of me?” gun-woo wanted to talk, but the anger in her eyes made his mouth shut. “doesn't matter, i hope i'll never see you again.” she began to pick up her things. gun-woo thought about hyeon-ju, sir choi, her mother, and the ugliest guy that beat him up that night in the coffee shop.
“we just want to ask you about your name,” he spoke clear. “we’re just curious if you’re y/n or not. anyway, my name is gun-woo, and he’s woo-jin.”
“yeah, why? you probably know this because you have every information about me.” she replied, her chest rising and falling a little bit faster than usual.
“no, we don’t. we… so, well… we know a man who’s name is sir choi. and her granddaughter… her granddaughter told us to meet you.”
y/n looked around herself, like checking if someone else was there as a spy or some third wheeler, but when everybody was lazily chomping down on their dinner, being on their phone with some boring video or tweet, she slowly sat back down. sir choi’s name moved something in her, because she leaned closer to the guys.
“if that’s what about i think it is about, then this is some serious shit. really, maybe the most serious shit in seoul’s money and business history, so if you truly mean sir choi’s name, than i really recommend you two to turn around and walk away from all of this. understood?” gun-woo sighed.
“i think that i’m deeper in this than i wanted to”, he replied, the girl looked at him from under her lashes.
“what do you mean? is this about loans?” gun-woo nodded, the girl looked up to the ceiling, sighing, letting out a long whisper of swearings. “then we aren't talking about the price of my dinner, aren't we?”
“we don't talk about money, we talk about catching the men who are behind this.” woo-jin continued, y/n looked up at him, smiling sadly.
“i hope that you are alright in the head, so you can understand that this is nearly impossible.”
“it is not, believe us. we gonna find a man who’s in contact with them.” y/n sighed, looked to the side, looking at her phone.
“how can i trust you two? really, anyone can talk to me about this, anyone who took loans from the old man.” “we found this photo of you in sir choi’s office.”
“you two? how did you get into sir choi’s office? not even his closest people could get there.” gun-woo looked at woo-jin, sighing.
“well, not us, but his granddaughter. her name is hyeon-ju, we are her so-called bodyguards.”
“i don’t know anyone who’s name is hyeon-ju. so, summing up, not sir choi, but his granddaughter wants to talk to me? why?”
woo-jin looked at gun-woo. “can we talk a little bit?”
“sure.” y/n responded, turning back to her food. woo-jin gulped.
“should we tell her about the plan? yang jae-myeong? but what if hyeon-ju wants to tell her this?”
“i think she would understand it better if we told her. she doesn't know who we are, and sir choi’s name means something to her, but in this case, sir choi doesn't know about our mission.” woo-jin shrugged his shoulder, turning back to y/n.
“it’s about catching a man who’s in connection with the loan-sharks, and the one smile capital. since hyeon-ju told us to find you, we think that you’d be interested to catch these guys.”
“this is real, they have some repayments for me.” gun-woo somehow knew that this wasn't about money, but how could he ask when they knew each other for two hours?
“so, are you in it, or not?” woo-jin leaned forward, offering his hand for a handshake. y/n pointed up her forefinger.
“one talk. only one session with hyeon-ju, and then i decide whether i'm in or not.” she stated, woo-jin and gun-woo nodded, while they smiled lightly. looking at each other, they shared the ‘we made it’-look, making the girl scrunch her eyebrows. “okay then, where and when should we meet tomorrow? i guess this can't wait, if that’s so important that you found me.” y/n brushed her hair behind her ear, gun-woo didn’t miss the tattoos on her fingers, and the
“maybe… tomorrow at noon? here, in front of this restaurant.” gun-woo offered, the girl nodded.
“deal. see you guys tomorrow!” she said as she stood up, gun-woo stood up too. he didn't know why, he just felt that he needed to accompany the girl, no matter where she went home.
“wait, y/n!” the girl turned around, woo-jin looked at him like he had some shock or something. “where… where do you go home?”
‘to yongsan, and you?” she asked, gun-woo’s eyes lighted up.
“me too. would you mind if i… so, maybe we can go home together?” he asked, hoping that the girl wouldn't mind.
“yes, we can. goodbye, woo-jin!” she answered easily, bidding goodbye to the guy beside gun-woo. after she went out of the door, woo-jin began to lap gun-woo’s back.
“aye, gun-woo! did little y/n just trickle some love into your heart?” he asked grinning, gun-woo shook his head.
“no, it’s just… what if she gets into trouble at night? it’s dangerous.” gun-woo answered innocently, making woo-jin do a little ‘tsk’ in the corner of his mouth.
“by her grabbing on my wrist before he almost punched me to death, the one who needs protection is me!” woo-jin dramatized the situation, pointing at his wrist.
“she didn’t do anything, and she won’t again. she seems… peaceful.”
“yeah, well, stopped beating me because she found his prince.” woo-jin continued the teasing by adding some eyelash flutter that girls do when they find someone really handsome, making gun-woo roll his eyes. “okay, well, just go. and tell me everything when you get home. or… if you haul up at hers. or i hope that your house has thick walls and your mother doesn’t mind the constant whining noise!” he giggled, having fun. he could tease his friend forever, now that this girl was in the picture.
“woo-jin-ah! don’t do this!” gun-woo replied, making woo-jin laugh.
“okay, okay! have fun, and bring her too! don’t forget to ask for her phone number!”
“goodnight, woo-jin.”
stepping out into the chilly night air, y/n waited for him. they began to walk to the bus station. gun-wo thought about what he should ask from her. family? no, that's too personal, and they just met today. he wasn’t good with girl stuff, only had one girlfriend and she dumped him after two months, when he applied to the marine.
“so, since when do you box?” she asked, making gun-woo looking at her wondering.
“how… how did you know that i box?” y/n snapped with her tongue, looking at him. she had pretty eyes, and although her mask was on, she seemed like this was the easiest question in her entire life.
“when your friend grabbed my shoulder, his grip was firm, his palms are not too big, but they are strong. he lifted his other arm, just in case he needed to protect himself. i think i even saw your friend on the tv. you two are muscular, it can be seen from under jackets, but your legs’ aren't as muscular as your torso. in other martial arts, you need to train your legs too, to kick as strong as you can, but in boxing, you only use your arms. oh, and bodyguards are most of the time professional agents, but you two are young. or am i wrong?”
gun-woo didn’t know how to respond, he wanted to tell her how cool it was to deduce what they did, just from looking at them.
“no, you are right. and… hyeon-ju told us that you are a pro in many martial arts, so… since when do you train?”
“since my childhood. it’s not that difficult, many movements and styles are similar.”
“did you fight competitively? like, in championships?”
y/n shook her head.
“no. only in gyms, i don’t like championships. you can get burned out easily. but i guess, since you asked that, you do championships. what is it like?”
gun-woo smiled under his mask. y/n was really cute as she asked about him. otherwise, maybe he could never tell her these things. he wasn’t a man of words, and only a few times he knew what to say.
“you would like it, really much. before covid, the arenas were filled with people, and the energies, the mood was really high and good.”
y/n hummed as they got on the bus, sitting beside each other. gun-woo protested that he should sit on the outer seat, and as y/n didn’t sense any dangers from him, she accepted and sat down.
“i hope that this hyeon-ju girl is cool, because i had some cat fights with others in the last weeks. girl fight in the gyms, you know.”
“cat fights? with girls?”
“yeah, but it wasn't so serious, i wondered where all the girls were, who'd ripped each other apart. a year ago, those fights were brutallic, like some freaking mma-cage fight, and now… at there, we say about these lazy gym-championships that there were no claws, but only strokes.”
gun-woo snickered.
“and these gym fights, do they pay well? or… do you work somewhere?”
the girl looked at him, scanning him from bottom to top while leaning to the glass window, leaning on her elbow, tilting her head. “you don’t look like a drinker, so i don’t think we would meet at my workplace.”
“you're a bartender? woo-jin would like this! he likes to drink, sometimes, always saying how good he can bear alcohol.”
y/n laughed.
“yeah, he looks like the typical tough guy who grew up on the bad side of the river, but when the two of you constantly looked at each other, i knew that he’s just as rookie as you.”
“yeah, that’s right. we began to work recently at sir choi, we are his granddaughter’s, hyeonju’s bodyguards. but she said she don’t need bodyguards.”
“but if she doesn’t need you, then how did you stay?”
gun-woo sighed.
“i… i begged for her to stay. i have a debt to work off to sir choi.”
“oh, so you work down the loan sir choi gave you, and this is the way you are affected personally by these loans?”
gun-woo thought about that night. when in-beom beat him up, when the boss threatened him not to call the police because his mother would end up dead, when he felt like he can’t do anything. looking at y/n, he didn’t want this girl to get involved in this business. gulping, gun-woo nodded.
“yeah. my mother too.”
“you work for your mother and her protection? you take life danger upon yourself so that she doesn't get hurt?” y/n asked, pulling together her eyebrows.
“we could say so.”
y/n sighed, looking forward, leaning back on the seat. looking at her hands, picking at the tattoos she had on her fingers. after a few seconds, she bent closer to gun-woo. she had dauntlessness and bravery in her eyes, without a blink of her eyelashes. her lashes were longer than usual, giving her the attitude on the outside as on the inside. pressing the get-off button of the bus, she gathered her bag in her lap.
“i understand it now. in this case, count me in, too.”
gun-woo looked at her.
“why? you doesn’t even know what is this about, this is serious danger, y/n.”
y/n shrugged her shoulders as gun-woo let her out from her seat, as they stood, y/n gave her a piece of paper.
“because it’s personal for me, too. see you tomorrow, gun-woo.”
gun-woo bent deep down as the bus stopped.
“thanks, y/n, for talking to us, and not beating up woo-jin.”
y/n giggled, and bent slightly down too.
“thank you for giving me an opportunity.”
as she got off, gun-woo sat back, folding out the paper. it was her number, they didn’t even ask for her number and she gave it to him! on the paper, there was a little message too.
show this to hyeon-ju. you guys forget everything. make sure she notes my number. and don’t worry, we are going to figure this out, one way… or another. y/n.
