I don't disagree w this person's tags in general BUT!! my thought: it's almost even better that way- the fact that she CHOSE to be fat and that wasn't even her default appearance. like that she could choose to look any type of way, and that's what she picked.

regardless of my or your opinion on AI art, saying that artists also make their art by simply viewing a lot of art and then regurgitating a mixture of statistically probable pixels implies that humans learn like machines do, and this isn't even remotely accurate. ignoring the phenomenological and social components of human learning really only stands to dovetail into viewing humans as material goods on the same level as a server farm. psychology has actually been sliding into viewing the brain as computers, and computers as equivalents to the human brain, and it's caused a lot of harm. we can't talk about some psychological phenomena without using Computer Terms to do it because that's the language that was given to them. viewing humans and computers as functionally equal with enough bits to replicate neurons won't humanize robots, it will dehumanize humans. it is advanced as an ideology for that purpose. in the end i see humans viewing art and integrating it into their own ideas for art as valuable because i think that humans don't exist to create a profit for some guy in silicon valley and i think that enriching human lives is good. humans don't "learn" art in order to produce replicas; the art is a byproduct.

#i'm trying to avoid the idea of a soul or whatever when trying to differentiate them #but the existence of consciousness often equivocated to 'having a soul' is significant and entirely different from machine learning #we have to define values and ethical systems that structure our society and i think that system of ethics should define conscious life #as valuable and that doesn't just extend to humans it's exactly like humanely dispatching animals is also an important ethical principle #i don't want to live in a society that sees a computer with the same amount of 'neurons' as a human brain as equally valuable to a person #at the end of the day.

It is kinda striking how not ever planning on having kids just removes so much of the "I'm approaching 30 and I don't have my life together" anxiety that it seems like a lot of people have. Like if your dream is to get married and have two kids and a dog then you probably want to have a stable, settled, well-paying career and the financial ability to buy a detached house with a yard in the suburbs and have enough left over to pay for sending your kids to preschool and space camp or whatever, and you probably don't want to be 30 years old and have no idea how you're going to get those things!

I can't relate personally but it makes sense if that's the path you want to take in life.

#the quote is a little bit silly but it adquires seriousness when you know everything that comes later #especially because it's hurrem's mother's quote from when she lived in ruthenia. when peace was possible. when she was going to marry leo #and had her future all planned. and there was stability #but the joke is suleyman's. after all becoming part of his family is what brings that ambiguity to the quote for hurrem's story #as it could be argued she never found true peace. at least for the most of her life #but also suleyman speaks in general terms here. so the quote can be extended to all the characters and in this episode of double joy it's #even more significant. because peace it's going to go sooner than later. and the signals of future ibratice problems are already there #and just as the birds are partly symbolic of that temporal peace and joy in love for hurrem the gifts the marriage gets are very important #as well #this episode is just gifts gifts gifts all around #suleyman's necklace for hatice has the tulips of the dynasty and it's something ibrahim himself recognizes could never give her #she says she's always going to have it w her. tho i don't remember seeing it too much in her tbh sdfy #in the other side ibrahim gets a lot of gifts. but the one that reminds him of his origin is his father's ofc. and he says he will always #have it with him as well. and later he gets suleyman's ring [i'm w haticehurrem. this totally looks like a subrahim wedding asfg]#which goes to remind us that he's now officially part of his family as well. he returned but he converted again. and THEN there's the table!#and taking away the politic alliance it could signify. it is venetian. his mother's heritage is there. in all the palace. and in the same #episode hurrem mentioned her mother's saying. the dynasty [or at least the most conservative side represented by ayse] it's unconfortable #the converts are not only winning more power and getting closer to the family. but they're also bringing their cultures & traditions to the #*ba dum tss* table #there's more to the whole return/convert and how it shows in the ibratice palace especially later w the statues but if i ever write about it #it deserves a post of its own ofc [and prolly someone that knows what they're talking about more than me lmao]#noo why did i write so much 😭 i should've done a separate post this is a mess to be under an already long picspam #anyways there's other significant gifts as the clock that musti likes or mahi's lucky charm for selim. and also the ones we already knew:#the ibratice gifts together 💝. and these contrast a lot with the rest because it's something of their own. when the couple was separated #from dynastic or even ibro's family. will they ever find peace again? we'll see it in the next episode [i'm lying]#maybe i should organize this in a post of its own #magnificent century #muhtesem yuzyil #mc1picspam4episode

I sort of like the thought that Zuko and Aang take the Sun Warriors' warning not to tell anyone about the dragons a little more seriously… and they keep it between them. Of course, they trust Sokka, Toph and Katara. Of course they know they wouldn’t tell anyone, but now three people (including Iroh) know the truth about Ran and Shaw. And that’s three too many when you’re trying to keep a secret.

(and there are other people at the temple as well - like Haru, Teo and The Duke - who, while trustworthy, aren’t as close to them as the others, and when it comes to secrets with as much consequence as this one, you can’t afford to take any chances.)

Furthermore, the culture within the Fire Nation since Sozin’s rein has been warped. The culture is not to respect the dragons as the original firebenders, it’s to conquer and kill them. It’s the ultimate proof of your strength as a firebender. All it takes is one mistake before rumour spreads, and people go looking for the ultimate hunt. It’s not something Zuko or Aang can risk.

Whether Katara, Toph and Sokka (and Suki) ever find out the truth is up to you. But post-war, after Zuko returns from a strange, poorly explained trip with a dragon, and eventually develops the ability to use rainbow fire, either the others have some questions about Aang’s knowing look, or they are finally let in on a monumental secret.

#it’s a kids show so i think for that reason it was played for laughs about keeping the dragons a secret is not necessarily a bad choice...#the show does that sometimes where it says something off hand and then leaves me lying face down contemplating ✨the consequences✨ of that #but there are some… implications there about being too loose lipped with the truth in leading up to the end of and immediately post #war fire nation. just because zuko understands the spiritual significance of a dragon it does not mean the rest of his people will. actuall #its more likely that they'd reject zuko's opinion considering that he's basically coming into power and then telling everyone that #they've been lied to their whole lives. the fire nation is drowning in propaganda. for a lot of people this opinion of dragons and #firebending's true nature being violence and destruction is all they know. fire is LIFE but to most people that's an alien concept #and in terms of keeping secrets - it’s not even a matter of trust it’s a matter of too many people knowing #you might not even realised you’ve revealed some incredible information to someone who has the means to spread it or pursue it #so… i think zuko would be hyper aware of this. since he grew up hearing stories about the 'glory' of dragon hunting #and since iroh has also made a concerted effort to keep this information hidden i think it makes sense he’d be very hesitant to let it #get out to the public #aang would agree i think esp if zuko explained the importance of hiding them even from loved ones #ALSO random but it also makes me wonder what the fire nation said about roku in wake of the war #he had a dragon but he didn’t kill it. he didn’t ’conquer’ it #sozin would have had to work his ASS off to reframe history as him being the more… loyal(?) patriotic (?) of the two #did he frame it as roku didn’t have the courage to kill a dragon??? that he lacked the strength of a true firebender?#the avatar works hard but sozin's propaganda machine works harder 🧍‍♀️#ch: zuko #ch: aang #avatar the last airbender #zuko & aang #jack talks #sun warriors #book 3 #what is it with me having a whole separate post in the tags 👁️👄👁️
