I'm so sorry, I'm absolutely losing it. I went to my neighbor's today to find out what I would need to do to care for their puppy this weekend, and This Fucking Thing appeared ajgldfkjhfg she is a turkey hen. you know, the birds who quite famously look like this

with no feathers on their heads, or very little, mostly along the spine/top of the head... and this gal just rocks up with not only a LITTLE bit of feathering, but almost completely covered. Even her WATTLE had feathers.

As an avid birder who also wants a dog someday, how did you deal with Mav while birding? Assuming you had him with you :) is his instinct to watch rather than chase, or did you have to do work with his prey drive? Also, any breeds that you (or anyone else) think would be content to just watch birds with me? :P

Hi this ask brought me SO MUCH GLEE.

Maverick, my beloved friend, was a terrible awful no good birding partner. I worked really hard on impulse control but it still was no match for his (enormous, untamed) prey drive. If we were on foot, we were not birding (with the exception of chance encounters). He was a phenomenal road birding partner; when I drove back roads looking for birds I would let him ride shotgun and he was great at that. It brought him joy to watch birds, but it would have taken so much work to turn him into a pleasant birding partner on foot. I would very much not recommend a brittany for calm outdoor recreation.

Pike (a rat terrier) is a phenomenal birding partner. I feel like the more innately engaged and biddable breeds are probably a better bet if it's important to you.

We've got homework that we should design a story with instrumental breaks, which will be graded. I haven't done anything for that yet. Even tho it was due several weeks ago and classmates already got their grades.

so, Planet Earth/Our Planet has a documentary on different birds of paradise and whenever I would go to the dentist, (especially as I got older for orthodontist appointments) I would always ask for them to put one on while they did their thing. They had like three or four of them that would get cycled through but, because the discs weren't labeled ( just literally disk 1,2,3 ect. ect) I didn't really know which one i was going to watch.

The one i remember watching the most was one that talked about the different types of biomes and habitat's, as well as some of the animals that lived in it from all over the globe. I think it was called something akin to "Pole to Pole" because they literally went from the top of the earth to the bottom.

It was the one i watched the most, and I liked it a lot. Except for one part.

You would think that the part I didn't like the most would be when a predator animal is able to single of its prey, but while I don't like it, I can understand that its apart of life, and can accept it. No, the part I don't like is when they reach the jungle.

Honestly I can't remember if this is even in the documentary, but, there is one bird in the whole bit that I just..... Mmmmh... mildly dislike. Its weird, and it weirds me right out.

I'm currently looking up different birds as a reference/inspiration for a Harpy-like character when who do I come across....
