Lily Tully in the Bathroom by Herself

Okay, so, I don't know if I've actually talked about Lily, one of my Ghostbusters OCs.

So, in the Cathleen Lives AU, Lily Tully is the daughter of Janine Melnitz and Louis Tully. She's born not too long after the couple follows Egon, Cathleen, and their daughters to Summerville, and grows up as one of Marie's (Egon and Cathleen's youngest daughter born at the end of GB2 in this AU) only friends.

When the OG Ghostbusters reconcile and the Spenglers return to New York, Lily struggles to find her place among the slowly-reassembling family, especially as Ray and Willow's eldest daughter, Addison, isn't too keen on letting the Spenglers back into her family's lives. It all comes to a head at their first Thanksgiving dinner together in a long time at Winston and Tiyah's penthouse, as will be depicted in a later fic that I've had the idea for quite a while, but I'm going to wait until the new movie comes out to fully plan out.

"Steve," Eddie says, giving a weary look as he smoothes his hands over his jacket.

Not that the leather would actually crumple. But he does suspect Steve stepped on it at some point.

"What?" Steve hums, palming at his polo.

He needn't worry, the thing is so tight it naturally irons itself out.

"Your hair!" Eddie warns, eyeing the great mess atop his boyfriend's – somewhat flushed – noggin.

"What?" Steve whips around to look in the mirror of Claudia Henderson's powder room, "Where?!"

Eddie can actually see Steve's brain catch up to the hair catastrophe at hand, a recoiling shiver running through his body.

He opens his mouth to laugh but instead finds himself yelping at the distinct sound of Dustin squabbling with his mother in the kitchen. Eddie clamps his hand over the door handle, heart picking up speed again. They were supposed to be out on the back patio!

His mind races through a myriad of excuses as he stares at the pink tiles encasing them.

Claudia's disapproval! Wanye's reaction. A fast-approaching, chastising "Boy!" from the old man...

Dustin's inevitable disgust and cacophonous laughter...

He rolls his eyes as he looks up at Steve's reflection. He'd meant a quick fix-up, a combing of fingers through hair.

Not Steve meticulously picking at individual strands in efforts to reconstruct his signature coif.

They both scream at a banging on the bathroom door.

She said she wants to do another time of 1000 men in 24 hours.. honestly sick. sexual self harm I feel terrible for her and disgusting by what she's perpetuating

I heard about that, and agreed.

She's the type of victim who doesn't realise that her dissociation and distress are caused by sexual exploitation, and, although she'd benefit from a feminist movement that helps her make the connection and start developing a healthier attitude towards sex, she's instead being told that she's empowered, that she's strong, and that her natural human reaction to sexual exploitation will pass with time.

And, in failing to realise she's a victim, and in failing to confront that her actions literally are just sexual self-harm, she's helping to maintain the cycle. Someone on here said it better, but they were right: men don't care why women do something, they just care that they get to have an orgasm.

Lily walked around his desk to his side. She steadied herself with a hand on the back of his chair and leaned, slightly, to look at the book and the diagrams. 

“You’re a very good artist.”

“Thank you. I liked cartography when I was a teenager so I got a lot of practice.”

“Cartography?” Lily smiled. “At Hogwarts?”

James chuckled, a youthful, devious look behind his eyes.

“Yes, at Hogwarts.” 

“I wonder if we would’ve gotten along if we were at school together.”

“I wasn’t very studious, then.”

“Too interested in cartography?”

“And Quidditch, and, shall we say, extracurricular projects.” 

“Girls?”

“No,” his voice lowered a touch. “I mean, yes, I dated a bit, but no one caught my attention.” 

“Not even your wife?”

“Not until we were older.” 

“So you underperformed in school and now you’re a professor.” 

“I was an O student.”

Lily rolled her eyes and James grinned. He’d turned his chair slightly towards her as they spoke, his head turned up to focus on her rather than the work on his desk. 

“Of course you were, Professor Potter.” 

She didn’t mean to be sultry, but desire layered with her voice. It was a touch sick up, how calling him professor turned her on, but not the sickest up thing about the situation.

“I think you would’ve been too good for me at Hogwarts,” he said, the strain of attempting humor only his attraction clearer.

They stared at each other for a moment, Lily’s fingers digging into the back of his chair to keep from touching his lovely face. Unconsciously, Lily parted her lips, and James snapped his head back to the work.

So yes, everyone agrees that Remus Lupin is the tallest of the Marauders

however I am telling you rn that Remus has the WORST fucking posture. it’s horrible.

he’s always slouched over with his shoulders drawn in on himself, therefore at first glance he looks the same height as Sirius and James

it’s a self esteem thing. he doesn’t want people to be intimidated by him, with his scars and outwardly quiet nature, he doesn’t wanna be seen as the monster he thinks he is. so he makes himself small. it was more of a subconscious then conscious thing that eventually turned into a habit.

in 7th year and after he graduates he starts to correct the way he stands, and inadvertently raises his self esteem in the process. he’s surrounded by people he loves and that love him. he doesn’t have to fear himself.

needless to say, when he starts teaching at hogwarts, students noticed that their new defense teacher stood with a strange slouch in his spine.

From politicians to celebrities, many of the great and the good have taken up the trans debate with gusto.

Following Wednesday’s Supreme Court ruling that a trans woman is legally not a woman, here are some of the leading figures who have insisted the opposite, or claimed they must have access to spaces traditionally reserved for females.

Owen Jones

The Guardian columnist has frequently spoken out on the gender debate.

In a 2019 column on the dwindling number of public lavatories, he wrote: “Twenty-first-century toilet provision must cater for gender-neutral spaces and ensure that the rights of trans people are protected too.”

Daniel Radcliffe

The star of the Harry Potter film series was at the centre of a row with JK Rowling in 2020 over the writer’s stance on gender.

He said: “Transgender women are women. Any statement to the contrary erases the identity and dignity of transgender people.”

Sir Keir Starmer

The Prime Minister appears to have changed his views on the gender debate over the years.

In 2022, the then Labour leader said: “A woman is a female adult, and, in addition to that, trans women are women, and that is not just my view, that is actually the law”.

Jameela Jamil

The actress and presenter suggested debates about transgender women in sport were being used to “distract” from the rollback of abortion rights.

As part of a tweet in 2022, she wrote: “Our uteruses are being controlled by the government but no no, let’s keep distracting ourselves with the vast minority that is trans women in sports.”

Emma Watson

The actress who played Hermione Granger in the Harry Potter films was also involved the row with Rowling. In 2020, Watson tweeted: “Trans people are who they say they are and deserve to live their lives without being constantly questioned.”

Rupert Grint

The actor, who played Ron Weasley, joined his Harry Potter co-stars in speaking out on the transgender debate in 2020. He said: “I firmly stand with the trans community.

“Trans women are women. Trans men are men. We should all be entitled to live with love and without judgement.”

Sir Elton John

The musician said gender-critical comments made by Germaine Greer had shown her to be “an attention seeker” in an interview with Emily Maitlis in 2015.

David Tennant

The former Doctor Who star said Kemi Badenoch, then-equalities minister, should “shut up” about her views on transgender people.

Accepting an award for “celebrity ally” at the British LGBT Awards in 2024, Tennant said: “Until we wake up and Kemi Badenoch doesn’t exist any more – I don’t wish ill of her, I just wish her to shut up – whilst we do live in this world, I am honored to receive this [award].”

Kylie Minogue

The pop star briefly addressed a question on single-sex spaces when interviewed by the Guardian in 2020.

She said: “If you’re a transgender woman, you should use the women’s facilities, surely?” before redirecting the conversation.

Eddie Redmayne

The British Star was nominated for an Oscar for his role as transgender Lili Elbe in the 2015 film The Danish Girl.

However, in 2021, he said it was a “mistake” for him to take on the role as a “cisgender” actor.

He said: “No, I wouldn’t take it on now. I made that film with the best intentions, but I think it was a mistake.”

Jolyon Maugham KC

Jolyon Maugham described LGB Alliance as a “transphobic hate group”. Mr Maugham, who founded Good Law Project, told Pink News in 2021: “I strongly encourage you to quote me calling the LGB Alliance a transphobic hate group.” LGB Alliance is an advocacy group which describes itself as “asserting the right of lesbians, bisexuals and gay men to define themselves as same-sex attracted”.

Zendaya

Zendaya told Vogue that feminism should be inclusive of “all women” including trans women. Speaking to the magazine in 2021, the actress said true feminism must encompass “women that look like you, women who don’t look like you, women whose experiences are different than you”.

She continued: “That means black women, that means trans women, that means all women.”

Jedward

The X Factor stars, whose real names are John and Edward Grimes, also waded into the JK Rowling row in 2020 following the publication of her book ‘Troubled Blood’. Tweeting from their official account, the brothers wrote: “Does anyone need firewood this winter! JK’s new book is perfect to burn next to a romantic fire. Aww get all cozy and comfy can’t wait.”

Lily Allen

The outspoken singer posted a meme, a visual joke, in 2015 which pointed to a brain stating “gender is up here” and then to a pair of underpants that said “not down there”.

Jeremy Corbyn

Jeremy Corbyn was leader of the Labour Party in 2018 when he told the BBC that “the position of the party is that where you have self-identified as a woman, then you are treated as a woman”.
