Agency Assignments: A comprehensive to-do list for saving Dead Boy Detectives!

I'm very easily overwhelmed, so I wanted to break down all the ways to help "Save Dead Boy Detectives" that I have seen floating around. This is meant to be something you can reference when you feel like there is so much you need and want to do to help, but don't know how or where to start.

Note: I will be updating this post as we go when necessary, so feel free to bookmark it in your browser for easy access, add it to your homepage, whatever! I'll always have a link to it in my Pinned Navigation post on my blog as well!

It is of the utmost importance that we fight as an organized, well-informed front. We need to be on the same page if we're going to save our show, so let's get into it! 💜💀🔎

Sign the petition*

Review & Rate Dead Boy Detectives on Google, IMDB, Rotten Tomatoes. Be sure on IMDB you don't just rate the show as a whole, but you also rate each individual episode! You can also "Like" the show on Google and click "Watched" which helps the show's engagement scores. (If there are other popular sites I haven't listed here, feel free to share them and rate Dead Boy Detectives highly on them!)

Notify Netflix customer service (through their online chat feature) that you're unhappy with the cancelation of Dead Boy Detectives. This is a short, 5-minute task that I wrote a guide on (with an example message) here!

"Repeat" Tasks:

➪ These tasks can become a part of your daily routine; do what works best for you! You don't have to do every single one of these tasks every day if that is overwhelming!

Share the petition* over and over again, on every one of your socials! Make everyone you love sign it!

Stream Dead Boy Detectives!* Keep it on a loop in the background on low volume as much as possible. Try to get others to stream it as well, especially if they haven't watched it before! Netflix cares about VIEWS: views save shows and I broke down the reasoning here. (Bonus: if you post over on Twitter about your rewatch, use the tag #ReviveDeadBoyDetectives)

Talk about Dead Boy Detectives!* You're probably doing that already, but just be sure that you're tagging your posts. Here on Tumblr use the "Dead Boy Detectives" tag at least (to boost our tag to trending) and anywhere that uses hashtags (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram for example) I would recommend #SaveDeadBoyDetectives and #DeadBoyDetectives as those seem to be the most commonly used tags! IMPORTANT: do not use more than 20 tags here on Tumblr! Any more than 20 and your posts might be marked as spam and hidden from the tags!

Create art, edits for TikTok, fics, gif sets, doodles, crafts, analysis posts, and so on for Dead Boy Detectives.* Having fun is important, too! This is an extension of the "Talk about Dead Boy Detectives" point, but it needs to be stated - don't remove the joy from the fight. If a drawing of our boys or a smutty fic with your favorite trickster cat king is what you can bring to the fight on any given day, that is a perfectly valuable contribution! It's not all emails and hashtags.

Daily request a show through Netflix. Bonus if you're signed in! (I do 3-5 times a day)

Send Emails advocating for Dead Boy Detectives (Email list & Email Template). You can do this as much as you want or just one time.

Send Snail-mail (physical letters) to Netflix advocating for Dead Boy Detectives. I also send a copy of my letters to Warner Bros. Studios. Again, you can do this one time or multiple times. There are dates set aside for "mass" mail sending as well, so check out info on that here!

Interact with articles posted about Dead Boy Detectives. Read them, share them, comment on them, thank the writer for writing them, etc. We want lots of press about the cancellation, and supporting journalists and publications will make them want to write about Dead Boy Detectives more.

November 17, 2024 update from the Battleship Texas Foundation

"Happy Restoration Update!

Work has continued apace on the Battleship since the last update.

There is now over 2/3s of the wood deck has been laid on the bow and it looks like all wood decking on the bow will be laid by the end of the 1st week of December (weather permitting).

Superstructures all the way up to the foretop has been painted. Look at that purty paint!

The last areas of to be blasted and painted (the superstructure deck) are in progress with the starboard side superstructure getting primed today. Portside superstructure deck will get blasted and primed next week, followed by top coats and then cleanup.

The repairs to the steel deck on the stern were completed this week and the welders and fitters turned to on the Galley area repairing damage uncovered by abrasive blasting -including repairing the drainage system above and in the Galley.

Scaffolding came down the Aft Fire Control Tower and the cranes, allowing the first good look at the AFCT since it was repaired and its appearance restored.

Hello cozy coven! 🔮 We thought we would share a little FAQ answering some frequently asked questions we hear around the community! ✨

1. I've finished the main storyline - is there more content after Year 1?

Yes! You can continue changing the seasons as many times as you wish after the credits roll to continue farming, befriending the NPCs, and finishing your collections. There are also more quests, festivals, animals, and small storylines to experience in Year 2, so keep talking to the NPCs and see what quests they give!

2. Is there more content after Year 2?

While we don't have dedicated storylines and festivals for Year 3, you can continue playing as long as you like to wrap up any outstanding relationship building, collections, etc. There are also a few (but not all) quests that will pop up in Year 3 if you missed them previously.

3. Are there going to be any more content updates?

We have just a couple more bits to add to Wylde Flowers, but, we absolutely want to make more games like it!

4. Will "X" be coming to the game?

We can't confirm any specifics about what is coming with the new updates, but we are always looking at community suggestions and feedback to see what y'all would like to see! 🌸 We can't wait to show you what's coming when the time is right, but we have confirmed a few things which will not be coming to Wylde Flowers. These are:

5. How do I get magical animals?

6. How do I change the season after year 1?

Continue visiting the coven at night and you will eventually get a quest to give Tara her new role in the coven, The Keeper of the Wheel. You will then have to make offerings to Wellspring, which you can see by interacting with it. When all offerings are complete, you can use the proper incantation to turn the season just like in Year 1.

7. Can I transfer my saves between different platforms and/or crossplay?

Unfortunately, this is not possible.

8. I need more games like Wylde Flowers! Help!

9. Where can I find Wool Weed?

Wool Weed is located in the second area of the Gloaming (near the entrance). The areas are unlocked through story progression. You will need to find the keystone in the first part of the Gloaming first, then talk to Lina and upgrade your wand. Once you have the second and/or third level unlocked, you will be able to choose which level of the Gloaming to enter when you interact with the pillar to enter the Gloaming.

10. Who is the best person to romance?

That is entirely up to your personal preference! You can use our wiki to get more info about the romance candidates. There is also some great discussion about this subject matter in this post, this post, and this post (from our subreddit!) ✨

For months, Meta has been restricting content with LGBTQ-related hashtags from search and discovery under its “sensitive content” policy aimed at restricting "sexually suggestive content.”

Posts with LGBTQ+ hashtags including #lesbian, #bisexual, #gay, #trans, #queer, #nonbinary, #pansexial, #transwomen, #Tgirl, #Tboy, #Tgirlsarebeautiful, #bisexualpride, #lesbianpride, and dozens of others were hidden for any users who had their sensitive content filter turned on. Teenagers have the sensitive content filter turned on by default. When teen users attempted to search LGBTQ terms they were shown a blank page and a prompt from Meta to review the platform's "sensitive content" restrictions, which discuss why the app hides "sexually explicit" content. Meta reversed the restrictions on LGBTQ search terms after User Mag reached out for comment, saying that it was in error. “These search terms and hashtags were mistakenly restricted,” a Meta spokesperson said. “It’s important to us that all communities feel safe and welcome on Meta apps, and we do not consider LGBTQ+ terms to be sensitive under our policies.”

Under mounting pressure from lawmakers and amidst a moral panic about young people’s social media use, last year, Meta introduced a new set of “sensitive content” restrictions across Instagram, Facebook, and Threads, aimed at teenagers. "We will start to hide more types of content for teens on Instagram and Facebook," the company said at the time. In September, Meta doubled down, forcing users under the age of 18 to use "Instagram Teen Accounts," a setting which could only be reversed by a parent or guardian. The goal of this change, in Meta's words, was to "limit … the content [teenagers] see, and help ensure their time is well spent.”

These changes quickly resulted in LGBTQ+ content getting restricted across Meta apps. Meanwhile, heterosexual content, tradwife content, and content featuring straight cisgender couples (even those engaged in romantic activities) has flourished. "Meta categorizing LGBTQ hashtags as ‘sensitive content’ is an alarming example of censorship that should concern everyone,” said Leanna Garfield, social media safety program manager at GLAAD.

Some LGBTQ teenagers and content creators attempted to sound the alarm about the issue, but their posts failed to get traction. For years, LGBTQ creators on Instagram have suffered shadow bans and had their content labeled as “non-recommendable.” The restrictions on searches, however, are more recent, coming into effect in the past few months. Meta said it was investigating to find out when the error began. “A responsible and inclusive company would not build an algorithm that classifies some LGBTQ hashtags as ‘sensitive content,’ hiding helpful and age-appropriate content from young people by default,” a spokesperson for GLAAD said. “Regardless of if this was an unintended error, Meta should… test significant product updates before launch.”

[...] On December 4th, the Supreme Court heard a major case on banning healthcare for trans youth. Trump has pledged to roll back protections for LGBTQ students, and right wing groups like the Heritage Foundation are working together with Democrats to dismantle civil liberties and restrict young people from accessing social media under dangerous proposed legislation such as the very poorly named Kids Online Safety Act (KOSA). KOSA co-sponsor Rep. Marsha Blackburn claimed that it’s essential to restrict teens access to social media to “protect minor children from the transgender [sic] in this culture and that influence.” One of the most prominent voices pushing legislation like KOSA and boosting policies like Meta's sensitive content restrictions is NYU Stern School of Business professor Jonathan Haidt, whose dubious book, The Anxious Generation falsely ties social media use to teen mental health issues in order to push a moral panic about kids and technology use. This moral panic is then used to justify harmful laws that restrict speech and civil liberties online, and do immense harm to marginalized LGBTQ youth. In an interview he did with PBS, Haidt boosted a false fringe conspiracy about trans youth known as social contagion or “rapid onset gender dysphoria” theory. Basically: Instagram is turning your kids gay and trans. In December, Barack Obama recommended the book at the top of his annual reading list.

Mark Zuckerberg recently dined at Trump's Mar-a-Lago club in Florida and is seeking an “active role” in Trump tech policy as the two are "now warming to each other," according to The Guardian. The increased censorship of LGBTQ content online is already having devastating effects on young people. For queer teens who rely on social media to connect with their peers and find support, these policies are cutting off vital access to community and representation.

Taylor Lorenz reports on how Meta-owned Instagram blocked teens from searching LGBTQ+-related content due to the app’s sensitive content policy settings. Such policies are designed to suppress LGBTQ+ content under the false guise of “protecting children.”

What It's Like To Get Elected

Has it been another month since my last story update again? Uh… it’s still going.

Anyway, switching to another subject since I promised to talk more politics. As I mentioned before, I’ve been active with my local Democratic party. As far as getting into the room, getting access to important people, and giving them reality checks (and boy, do they need reality checks sometimes), I can’t recommend joining enough. Assuming you’ve got the spoons for it, and your local party don’t turn out to be assholes. That’s another conversation.

I also mentioned I was running for local school board. And guess what? I won!

In a small miracle for this town, we only had three candidates for three positions. Well, a small miracle and some excellent coordination from the local lefties. Because we were essentially unopposed, a lot of the steps of normal campaigning didn’t apply this time. Which is a shame, because I had a design for yard signs all set to go.

I did, however, interview for unions! That looks like a big Zoom call with a bunch of local reps where they ask you questions to make sure you support unions. The teachers union asked me about supporting LGBTQ+ students. Anyway, if you stalk me and find my Ballotpedia page (I only discovered a couple weeks ago that I had a Ballotpedia page) you’ll find two union endorsements. So that’s fun.

So is defending those endorsements and my Dems activity on community Facebook groups when people were under the impression they don’t get involved in local races. Maybe they should ask the county board candidate who swore up and down he didn’t take outside money, while taking $700 from the county Republicans. We have receipts.

Because of that nonsense I was more focused on his race than mine on Election Day. Hearing results when you’re running sometimes works a little differently, as you probably know someone working the polls that will share the results before the internet and news networks find them. So I heard about the local results well before they were published. And yes, I won! And that Republican guy lost. Bonus.

What happens next? For starters, training sessions. The state’s school board association emailed me the next morning with a login for their site. Three meetings in the next month will help get me up to speed: an orientation with the actual board, a gathering for new members in the region, and then an all-day affair about the specific governing model we have. It’s a lot, but it shows how much they prepare you going in, if you’re committed to actually doing the job right.

The biggest reality check came when I went to the next school board meeting, the lame duck session, if you will. For one, when I got there I got handed payroll paperwork. It hadn’t really sunk in that I was getting paid for this. Another is a discussion that frequently mentioned waiting on a vote until the new members could chime in. Or even the kudos from the other board members for crossing the finish line.

Yesterday I took my oath of office. Reading the email I was expecting a small private thing where I do an LBJ-style swearing in in a secretary’s office, maybe a picture. I just had to sign a thing, in the office because it had to be notarized. I was in and out in five minutes.

We’re going from roughly a 6-1 progressive majority to 7-0. That’s great news for our school, even if my first meeting I get to vote on whether elementary school registration fees are tripled, or doubled with the district subsidizing the balance. Thanks state legislature!

If you go in intending to do the job right, it’s a lot of work. That’s why it’s so important to elect people who intend to do the job right. Because so much of this is optional. It’s entirely possible to skip most of the trainings, to take your seat and either do nothing productive with it, or try to push policy whether or not it’s relevant, appropriate, or even legal. That’s how we get bad leadership, and why participation in this process is the only way anything’s going to get better.

I usually post Lolibrary content on the site's facebook page, and not my personal Tumblr, but this is a little more personal. This is my 5,000th Lolibrary entry. Lolibrary celebrated it's 13th birthday last month, and as of right this second we have 84,951 published entries.

I did the math a couple days ago for a post on the FB or twitter, and for lolibrary as a whole, it comes out to something wild like 17 entries per day. And that is 'counting' the fairly long time around 2018 when we couldn't make entries at all.

I'm not the biggest contributor to lolibrary. That is Onlyeasy, who entered more than 1/5th of the content on lolibrary and recently has retired from being an active senior lolibrarian. Followed by our late founder, Amethystcitrine. Amy entered more than 1/10th of the content currently on lolibrary. Lately, I was thinking 'I should record some videos on how to add measurements' because that seems to trip up a lot of new contributors. And, I keep thinking about the videos she made, which makes me really miss being able to talk to her about lolibrary.

The 3rd biggest contributor to lolibrary is theladymienshao (9.22%) who currently enters Baby/Pirates, and then Sucre-Dolls (6.94%) who enters Angelic Pretty. I am so impressed by the constant updates of the new items, because I've never been able to do that.

The person with the next most entries is azuki-mikan (pita-tenshi), again, absolutely fantastic, azuki-mikan has made 7.3% of the entries.

And then me, I'm 6th with 5.88% of the entries. So, I'm definitely not the most active when it comes to entering items. I do some other things with lolibrary, like I make most of the Facebook and Twitter posts (which is why they are very inconsistent). I also count up when an indie brand goes over the minimum threshold for tag, and the minimum threshold for being promoted to a brand, and then recently I've been manually moving the entries across for those too. I also did a lot of the manual checking on the shoe entries when we imported those in recently, and like all the other senior lolibrarians who are active, I do some of the pending submission approvals. And of course, I do some degree of book research & scanning with my magazine & catalog collection, some degree of item identification, etc. I also spend a lot of my time adding images to existing partial listings to flesh them out. But there are other people who do other tasks that aren't entering items too. Like Sage-Blossom who does a ton of corrections & tag clean up work, for example. And our development team who do the coding, and one of our other admins who handles all of the legal and financial pieces so we can pay our bills and maintain our status as a non-profit. And then there are a lot more very active contributors too! I think one of my favorite things about lolibrary is that it is a community project and it is made up of lots of people doing lots of different things. I think also that's one of the reasons that lolibrary has had the longevity it has had. And through it, I've met a lot of wonderful people who I absolutely think the world of. So, I guess what I'm trying to say is that I'm very glad that lolibrary exists, and I hope it continues on for many years to come. <3

Kaiju Week in Review (February 19-25, 2023)

Those of you who've been around here for a while may recall the Kickstarter campaign for a documentary called Kaiju Gaiden, which aimed to interview directors of underseen independent kaiju films. I stress the campaign because despite clearing its $25,000 funding goal, the documentary was never completed. Director David Hall apparently took the money and ran, and while producer Mark Jaramillo vowed to finish the film, his last update was in 2018. Jaramillo also stopped posting on his personal Facebook page the same year. Myself and pretty much everyone else who gave the project a backwards glance figured he had simply given up and withdrawn from fandom to avoid further embarrassment. Or perhaps something had happened in his personal life that was more pressing than chronicling the adventures of a wolfman and some funny lizards. Kaiju Gaiden entered the (alarmingly voluminous) annals of kaiju vaporware, alongside the likes of Godzilla Zero Hour and Colossal Kaiju Combat.

Well, something did happen in his personal life. Fucking hell, did it happen. As Jules L. Carrozza revealed last Saturday, Jaramillo was in prison until recently for distributing child pornography online. I've been in touch with someone who's looked into this horrid story beyond what's available through Google (i.e. PACER), and they've confirmed that this is no case of mistaken identity. They also shared excerpts from the sentencing report. I will spare you the vile details. Suffice to say the man is a monster of the kind I wish only existed in the movies. He had started posted on Facebook again in October like nothing had happened, and I'm extremely grateful Carrozza came forward before he could stage some triumphant return at G-Fest or another con.

I aim to have Wikizilla's Kaiju Gaiden page updated by early next week; I feel bad for taking so long, but I want our citations to be unquestionable and can't search PACER myself until Monday. I also regret not including all this in the last week in review, since it did fall under its scope, if only just. Truth be told, I didn't know how the hell to present it alongside more routine kaiju news, Godziban especially.

I also wanted to give good old @kaijusaurus time to complete his Edward Snowden act. Back at G-Fest XXIII in 2016, Jaramillo transferred to him a bunch of indie tokusatsu obscurities and asked him to keep them to himself. Well, suffice to say that promise is off, and he's deposited the lot on archive.org and (when possible) YouTube. Give them a watch and let their lo-fi simplicity remind you why you fell in love with this stuff.

I'm glad they can be out in the world. Kaiju Gaiden ultimately made many of them less visible than they could have been until now. If you couldn't make it to G-Fest, you were shit out of luck. For those of us who could, those memories are thoroughly tainted. Mark Jaramillo didn't make any of them, and they don't deserve to be associated with him. His most enduring contribution to the kaiju genre will be playing a CIA agent in the excruciating God Raiga vs. King Ohga: War of the Monsters... alongside David Hall. Good fucking riddance.

[The 4 Qualities of potential]

This concept, and the information I share about it in this specific writing, is a concept I developed myself and is based on my personal logic and perspectives. This post is only meant to be perceived as a personal perspective with factual information to back up my belief of this perspective and not as a factual known concept that has been proven. Therefore, I would like to present to you this blog post as a literal example of itself and the "potential" (HINT-HINT) concept I talk about in it. Note that I hinted at the word "potential" above. This is because this article "has potential," "displays potential," "inspires potential," and "is potential." There is nothing but potential from pretty much every aspect of the perception of this blog post, and this potential can be harnessed and Utilized to anyone's advantage or even disadvantage, along with pretty much anything else you come across in your life journey. But only if the reader can perceive the potential that surrounds them in their personal life and unique situation.

So , simply what I am trying to say is, that the information in this blog post, is to provide you with a logical perspective of what potential really is, how to identify and perceive it, and how to utilize the potential that is always surrounding you and every little thing that you do depending on the type of potential it is and the unique situation you're harnessing it for. I am also using this blog as a direct example of my perception of this idea or concept I am speaking about. You see, potential can be good or bad, it can come and go, it can be used or ignored, it can be large or small, it can be mine or yours, it can even be easy or hard. The cool thing is, no matter what, if properly educated, we can utilize it, no matter what form it is in, to our advantage. So, to make it more simple; I've categorized the main forms of potential into 4 categories.

[Personal Potential]

Now, for most of us, personal potential is the quality of potential we think we know the best. As for me, I've come to the conclusion that personal potential is what allows us to overcome challenges and even the smallest obstacles in our daily lives that can affect our ability to be productive and even influence us to be unproductive. Sadly, it is the quality of potential that we are the most blind to regularly. We seem to notice other forms of potential easier in other people, and situations than the potential we personally carry and play a direct role in our Dailey lives and challenges. [For example], We might see a friend of ours perusing a certain objective and be able to understand the reasons they are perusing that objective because it makes sense. On the other hand, when we try to reason with our own objectives and make sense of the importance of the steps it will take to complete an objective, we tend to get confused and oversee the reasons and likeliness for achieving our goals which causes us to lack the perception of our own potential for completing the objective."

The Oakland Raiders, for instance, have been the worst team in the NFL for over 20 years now. This is because every year, every new player that is drafted by the Raiders has to live with the perception of their opportunity to play on the Oakland Raiders team as only being good enough to be drafted by the NFL's worst team. These kinds of mindsets are the ones that deteriorate the chances of the Raiders pulling off a year of redemption and lower the level of potential they have to thrive as a team.

A good way of understanding our true personal potential is to relate it to our reputations. Similar to our reputations, our personal potential depends on the choices we make throughout our unique individual lives and how we choose to deal with our problems. Another important subject that affects our personal potential is our realization of how the smallest bits of change can act like invisible obstacles that we are completely blind to. Here's a quick example to demonstrate to you the importance of recognizing the small changes that affect our personal potential,

A friend of mine is always utilizing our friendship to vent about the problems in his daily life, which I have no problem with. One day I recognized that he had been dealing with the same challenge regularly. I noticed that several days in a row, he had mentioned that he was late to work because he kept forgetting to set his alarm clock to the new time he was scheduled to work." Now, there is potential that can go both ways here, and no one can change what way the potential goes except for my friend himself because it is his personal potential that is affecting his personal position. He can either keep allowing the potential to be late to work run his ability to do so, or he can utilize the potential to be at work on time by just taking the time to change his alarm clock to the correct time to be at work on time. The littlest configurations to our ability to achieve simple goals are the personal potential we most often lack awareness of.

To Utilize the personal potential surrounding us we must,

FIRST- Acknowledge the objectives we are pursuing daily.

SECOND- Develop a strategy for achieving those objectives.

THIRD- Configure our ability to implement the strategies we develop.

The personal potential is the likeliness of the configuration to our ability to implement the strategy. In other words, the likeliness of our ability to follow through with changes that alter our daily routines and obstacles is personal Potential. A good way to better understand personal potential and become familiar with how to utilize it is to try learning about people who are famous for being successful at what they did. And try to understand what their advantages were before their success and how they used those advantages to earn their success. Take Tesla, for example; once you start learning about his methods of operating and his ability to understand complex ideas, you will start to notice how he recognized these qualities about himself at a fairly young age and was able to start utilizing his unique talents early enough to maximize their potential. For a starting point, just start recognizing the problems and challenges in your life, especially the small ones, as opportunities to grow your potential by using effort and self-will to eliminate them or overcome them.

[Skilled Potential]

Moving on to skilled potential, it is relatively similar to personal potential. Just the same as someone's personal potential being very high or very low, or it can be mine or yours and so on... The difference is that personal potential refers to a specific person and the likeliness of a specific person's capabilities based on their personal traits. Whereas skilled potential suggests the likeliness of someone's capabilities based on their experiences, accomplishments, and obstacles they have overcome. Skilled potential is different and stands out from the other qualities of potential because it literally "stands out" like a soar thumb.

Now, the thing about skilled potential is the same as having a skill; it can be at just about anything. I know many people who are very skilled at being lazy. They have mastered the skill of sitting on their butts all the time and doing the least amount of stuff possible through every situation they come across. On the other hand, someone can be very talented at drawing or art in general. For example, a tattoo artist. It takes a lot of skill to become a well-known tattoo artist, with a good reputation. For someone to become this, it would take a lot of skilled potential. So, not only is their skilled potential for the lower aspects of life but also for the higher and anywhere that meets between.

There are many ways to recognize someone's skilled potential. In fact, I find it to be the only quality of potential that is hard to miss. The thing about skilled potential is it can be hard to recognize in ourselves. You may see your friend who has developed tons of skills in a variety of things and think of them highly because of their skilled potential. But usually, it is difficult for us to recognize how many things we have mastered ourselves and are very skilled at. This is important to realize because we need to be able to recognize when we have mastered bad habits as skills that give us a lower level of skilled potential. This refers to the example I gave in the last paragraph about the people who are skilled at being lazy. Here's a scenario that can help you understand a little more clearly...

Positive Skills

Negative Skills

[imagine you are in high school, you and your "special other" have just recently taken an interest in each other, and it is the first potential relationship you have ever attempted, but you really like this person to the point that you always catch yourself smiling when dazing off in deep thought about this person. Shortly into this pre-relationship with this person, this person suddenly changes their mind about you and starts seeing someone else. This breaks your heart, but the pain soon starts to fade, and a few months later, there's another opportunity to pursue a new relationship. This one works, and it is officially your first relationship, but another few months go by, and after feeling deeply for this person, this person's parents decide they want to move to an area far away, and your new special other is forced to leave you by demand of their parents needing to move so far away. This breaks your heart even worse than the first one. Right then, you start developing a defense mechanism by rejecting relationships, which turns into a habit. The next thing you know, you've gone through college, and you can't even count how many relationships were avoided to the point where you have perfected a system to keep anyone from being interested in you.]

This isn't the best example scenario, but it's the first thing I came up with. I do hope it at least gets a point across to you though. Anyways, it demonstrates how we can turn on our instincts to protect ourselves from emotional trauma and replace it with unnatural habits, and when we take it to the extent of mastering these unnatural habits, it becomes a skill and affects our level of skilled potential. Skilled potential, the same as all potential, surrounds us as if it were the air we breathe. The most important thing is to make sure that it does not become polluted and full of impurities but instead full of purity formed from our drive to succeed.

One way you can be sure you are not equipping yourself with the wrong type of skilled potential is by practicing to confront your fears. This allows you to deal with your fear in a more natural way instead of building techniques to avoid them that eventually turn into a wrong use of skilled potential. It also allows us to focus our attention on creating benefiting skills and habits that up our level of skilled and personal potential at the same time. If something goes wrong in life embrace it because it always has the potential to better you as a person.

[Team Potential]

Team potential is where it starts to get exciting. It refers to the likeliness of an outcome for two or more people or entities (organizations, corporations, companies, and so on) actively working together to pursue a common goal or objective. Team potential can be very effective and can be taken advantage of to create results quickly. The potential a team has depends on the potential of every member of the team, both personal and skilled, but it also depends on the ability each member has to work together. For example,

Someone who is known for their skills at cooking and holds a high level of potential when it comes to crafting a delicious meal but is not the best when it comes to working with others, could jeopardize the cooking crew's potential to provide quality food to its costumers if this person is recruited by the crew.

This example refers to the fact that it only takes one person on a team who is not a team player to mess up the flow of a team, which then negatively affects the amount of potential that team has of achieving their goal. So, basically team potential can be very effective and produce results rapidly, but only when everyone on the team is pursuing the same goal and is more than willing to work with others to obtain the result they are after.

Many different scenarios could be considered to have team potential; in reality, only some of these scenarios are actually utilizing team potential. The others are portraying like they are using team potential, but sometimes it's worth digging a little deeper to understand the true source of their potential. For instance, a relationship is often viewed as a team effort and it very well could be, as both sides of the relationship are after the same outcome of the relationship. If both sides are pursuing the relationship in hopes of different outcomes, then this is not team potential. And can actually be considered external potential, which I talk about in the next section of this blog post. To make things simple, team potential may not exist where there is a labeled team or assumed team at hand.

To recognize when a team you are a part of, (whether it is work, Hobbie, or personal life) is being jeopardized by one or more members of the team because of a lack of team awareness and by separating their selves from the rest of the team with goals that don't inline with the team's goal... I suggest tracking your team's potential. Develop a system that allows you to create stats on the likeliness of your team's ability to accomplish its objectives. To do this, you can observe each member's participation in the team and evaluate each one based on their effort, their curiosity, and their commitment. If someone seems less committed than they were last month and their curiosity has drifted to subjects that aren't in line with the team goals, then more than likely, they are negatively affecting the team's potential to succeed, and adjustments could be made to elevate your team potential to its maximum capacity.

To utilize the amount of potential your team has, it is important to know the strengths and weaknesses of the members and the vulnerability and advantages of your team so that you can place each member in the position that suits their skills and traits the best while at the same time strengthening the team as a whole. There is a lot of potential that can be harnessed and used when it comes to team potential but it is almost like gambling in some situations because there can be a lot of risk and opportunity for failure if a team is not structured correctly or lacks any bit of team participation by any of the teams members.

[External Potential]

Now that I’ve explored personal potential, skilled potential, and team potential, it’s time to focus on the final and arguably most powerful quality of potential: external potential. This is hands down my favorite. The external potential is not something that exists within us; rather, it resides in the external entities that surround us in our lives. We can view these as incredible opportunities because they reflect the possibilities that various objects, times, places, and ideas have to offer us. Every experience and event throughout our lives holds hidden bits of potential that many might overlook—until now. This topic has inspired this entire post, and I strongly believe it’s the one aspect that everyone should fully grasp and appreciate.Since becoming aware of external potential, I’ve leveraged it to transform my life in ways that words cannot fully capture. To clarify, external potential refers to the likelihood that a specific object, time, place, or idea can produce concrete results or influence the outcomes of future events.

When considering external potential, think of it as the pronouns of potential. Instead of focusing on language, envision it in terms of external resources or value. Just as a pronoun in language relates directly to another word for efficient communication, external potential relates directly to a person’s personal potential and serves as a resource to yield more accurate results. Essentially, external potential presents us with opportunities to use to our advantage, helping us achieve the results we desire as we navigate through life’s challenges.

To illustrate what external potential looks like, I’ve provided five compelling examples:

(Note: This offers immense potential for individuals seeking effective communication with those who speak different languages, eliminating the need to memorize a new language.)

[Example 2] - *A creative product idea for a store owner's inventory.*

(Note: The novelty of this idea positions it to directly influence the desired results for the store owner.)

[Example 3] - *A long-forgotten dessert recipe that has been rediscovered.*

(Note: This recipe could dramatically enhance the popularity and growth of a struggling restaurant, significantly impacting its stability.)

[Example 4] - *A carefully chosen location for a surprise birthday party for your favorite aunt.*

(Note: The chosen venue can profoundly affect your aunt’s feelings on her special day, offering the potential to create a memorable experience.)

[Example 5] - *A change in the timing of an annual community meeting.*

(Note: This adjustment can either help certain individuals attend who otherwise couldn’t or potentially cause others to miss out on the important event.)

As you reflect on this blog post, assess how external potential can serve you, your family, or your friends in generating the desired outcomes. It’s essential to be aware of the external potential surrounding you every day, much like the irresistible treats offered on Halloween night. Seize these opportunities; they are available to you, but only if you actively pursue them. Recognizing and utilizing external potential is the closest we can get to accurately predicting the future in our current era. Master this concept, and you can actively shape the ideal future you desire for your life.

To sum things up " The 4 Qualities Of Potential" are Personal potential; The likelihood of an outcome based on your own capability and personal traits, Skilled potential; The likelihood of an outcome based on one's experience and accomplishments leading up to a specific outcome, Team potential; The likelihood of 2 or more people or entities ability to achieve desired results based on each person's or entities ability to work together and each one's mindset, External potential; various sources of potential that reside within the outer aspects of our daily lives, which can be harnessed and utilized to our advantages. Each quality of potential serves an important role in our personal and professional lives. If able to recognize the potential surrounding us and within us we and utilize them to our advantage and use them to manifest the desired results we work for everyday.

April 2, 2024 update from the Battleship Texas Foundation

"Yeehaw everyone!

Battleship Texas back in the water at Gulf Copper Shipyard.

We apologize for the short break we took on getting an update out. Battleship Texas Foundation staff have been adjusting to life with the ship back in the water, taking some time off, and attending events across Texas.

While it may not look like much work is going on at the ship, we have kept Gulf Copper busy! See our latest update.

It has been just about one month since #battleshiptexas returned to the water. The ship is currently moored at Pier D in Gulf Copper Shipyard, where it will continue to undergo repairs and preparations to become a museum ship once again!

Workers have removed remnants from older museum fixtures that are no longer needed. This is another big step forward in returning the ship to its 1945 appearance.

DECK DRAINAGE REPAIR

We are continuing to repair the ship's upper decks drains and systems to ensure they do not collect water and eliminate standing water. This is being done to the ship's superstructure, aft fire control tower, main mast, and on the decks below.

New drain pipes have been added to the ship's superstructure. This will help eliminate standing water on the ship's upper decks.

AFT FIRE CONTROL RESTORATION

The ship's aft fire control tower is looking great! The mullions for the windows are fitted, floater net baskets added, and more. These repairs and additions will help return the ship to its 1945 appearance.

WHAT'S NEXT? - Battleship Texas will remain at Gulf Copper Shipyard for until her new home is ready for her. Additional steel work, removal and replacement of the ship's deck, and superstructure/aft fire control restoration will continue. And painting the topsides!

TOURING? - The Battleship Texas Foundation is working on new touring opportunities before the ship reopens.

REOPENING? - There is a lot to be done before the ship is ready for touring at its new home in Galveston, Texas. Reopening is projected to happen sometime in the later half of 2025.
