Ranking drivers based on how badly I want them to win a WDC. Dont hate yall this is soley for fun:
Logan Sargeant (listen I know hes off the grid, but come on man I want to be able to scream like an egal. I would have screatched like crazy if he got a point let alone a podium. if this man won a race or WDC I think the US would have exploded from fans losing their mind)(lets just hope he goes to indycar and wins the indy500 to beat the terrible driver accusations)
Lewis Hamilton (come on an 8th WDC as his last year at Mercadies would have been iconic) (Ferrari is gonna crush his 8th WDC dreams with their shitty pit stops)
Oscar Piastri (I just want to know what his reaction would be. mans is stone faced and I love it)
Charles Leclerc (he deserves it after the shit ferrari puts him through) (also I want to know what the state of italy and monaco will be in if/when he wins a WDC) (he honestly can do it not this year but eventially if and only if ferrari actually makes a good car cause he is putting that tractor in places it should not be)
Max Verstappen (love this funny dutch man) (he drives so many fia officals crazy and I love it) (Max Im rooting so hard for you)
George Russell (soley because I want to know what he would say to a WDC win) (like come on yabadabadoo for a race win? what would a WDC win bring out in that man)
Zhou Guanyu (he so sweet and this would finally give him some recognition)
Nico Hulkenberg (only if he can win it by getting second each and every race. Imagen how funny it would be if Nico won a WDC and still not had a maiden gp win)
Kevin Magnussen (cant seperate the hassbands) (also I think it would be funny)
Franco Colapinto (just think of how much more flirty that man would be if he had a WDC to his name)
Liam Lawson (Think of how much more agressive he would be if he had a WDC behind his name) (hes already flipping off senior drivers imagion how crazy he would be)
Alex Albon (Hes so nice) (I would love to see redbulls reaction cause dam they would have fumbled so hard)
Daniel Ricciard (think of australia) (though I dont think it would ever happen)
Yuki Tsunoda (I just want to know what he would say) (like man loves swearing so much) (the fia would hate to see him coming soly becuase of how much swearing would go down)
Carlos Sainz (he gets on my nerves but it would be funny if he won and charles didnt) (imagion the charles tifosi oh they would be pissed)
Checo (Think about how crazy mexico would be if he won, they would be having SO MUCH fun) (I dont want to deal with how redbull and crazy max fans would react if he won and max didnt)
Fernando Alonso (it would be interesting but Im not a fan of his, and he gets on my nerves)
Lance Stroll (I just dont want to deal with everyone saying that his father bought him the WDC)
Pierre Gasly (He ruffles my feathers in a way I cant describe. I just dont like him)
Esteban Ocon (Im not his biggest fan, I think hes just so meh also I dont think anything super crazy would happen if he won so...)
Lando Norris (he has the car right now I just dont like him so hes low on my list) (also I would rather it be charles than lando right now this year) (lando gets on my nerves and I feel like if it happened right now he would be insufferable)
Valtteri Bottas (He would be higher on my list be there is no way James would let that happen) (he would swoop in with his Valtteri its James attitued and make my post change)

Everything Wrong With The Umbrella Academy. Episode 4, Man on the Moon.
We Only See Each Other at Weddings and Funerals
Run Boy Run
Extra Ordinary
Disclaimer: This is all in good fun! I wanted to do a really nitpicky re-watch of the series and found some really cool and interesting things I didn’t notice before. This is meant to have a Cinema Sins-esque tone. However, I did take off a lot more sins than Cinema Sins would have because I do genuinely like the series and the people that made it possible. So all of the good things got one sin off and all the bad things got one sin added. This is a really long post, so grab some popcorn. If there’s anything that I missed, feel free to add it!
I would also like to add, that normally you wouldn’t watch a show this way. I am purposefully looking for mistakes, easter eggs, and other things that we’re not supposed to notice. To be honest, I am seeing a lot of the things I’m pointing out for the first time because I am watching not with the goal of entertainment, but for analysis.
Man on the Moon
Tom Hopper’s workout routine. -1
What was Luther holding in his hand? A lighter? A toy? I can’t tell. It’s weird that they put something there at all. +1
Klaus knocked down the wall between his and Vanya’s rooms. That was the one thing in the house that said Vanya ever lived there and he destroyed it. +2
However, Klaus’s room looks really, really cool. Set designers, you win this one. -1
The bike. I have questions about that bike. When did Luther get it? Or did it belong to all the children? Sinning because no way Reggie would buy Luther a bike. Or give one to the children. +1
The shot following Luther directly gave me a bit of motion sickness. +1
Netflix subtitles have Reginald saying “Attention, Master Luther” when it is clearly Pogo. +1
“Mission alert” +1
Everyone else is gone! Luther has no backup. Reggie is a dick to Luther. +1
I know I should have mentioned this in the last episode, but Reggie put five young children in leather catsuits. Potentially six, but we never see Five in one. And he still makes Luther wear it as an adult! +6
Luther never leaves the house and keeps going on missions for Reggie because of a sense of responsibility. I can understand that. -1
However, Reggie was the one who fostered that in Luther. He made Luther think that he was responsible for saving the city, when in reality that’s up to law enforcement officers. +3
Why didn’t Luther go to a real hospital? Did Reggie take him home? How did Luther end up back in the Academy after that mission? +1
Was Luther dead? Reggie feels for his pulse and says “dammit”. Did the ape serum bring him back to life? +1
How long was Luther on that table? We see him with a beard in episode one, but it isn’t as crazy as this one. Also, does Luther bleach his hair now, or what? I am confused by Luther now being a brunette with impressive facial hair. +1
Tom Hopper nails ‘dawning horror and shock at now being an ape’. -1
Pop goes the weasel. +1
Who wound that box and placed it there? And why? The only other people there are Reggie, Grace, and Pogo. No way they did something so cruel and juvenile after permanently disfiguring him. +1
The umbrella the monkey-in-the-box suddenly has the title when it didn’t earlier. +1
“There’s something you have to see”. Yes Allison, continue to be vague. I’m sure Luther will appreciate it. Why not “I think the assassins killed Mom. Come take a look.” Is it because that would have been too logical? +1
Luther is still calling her “Grace”. +1
“Poor Diego. I mean this is gonna be so hard on him”. Choke on that irony, everyone. +1
“I don’t wanna discuss it”. This family. Allison said the same thing about Claire moments before telling Luther everything. Parallels. +1
Vanya spent the night at Leonard’s house. Sigh. +1
“For one day I’ll think you’ll be fine”. What makes you think that, Leonard? +1
Vanya takes one sip of her coffee and never touches it again. Leonard doesn’t even drink his. What is the point of the damn coffee? +1
“When I was a kid I felt like I had to apologize for even breathing.” Reggie is a dick. +7
“I don’t think my Dad ever forgave me for being born” foreshadowing patricide. +1
Vanya and Leonard talk in front of the Icarus Theatre. Comics fans, you know why that’s significant. +1
Helen doesn’t acknowledge Vanya’s greeting like a normal human being. +1
People are already tuning, Vanya! Get your ass in the theatre so you can do the same! +1
Leonard is stupidly charming. I hate that he’s sort of likable, but it makes sense for what they’re using him for. +1
The kidnapping of Klaus Hargreeves. +4
Klaus is too kinky to tourture. -1
Where is that blood on his chest coming from? +1
Ten hours of tourture! Fuck you show for making Klaus go though that. +10
“He’s a freak like his brother”. Which one? You met Luther and Diego. And they presumably know Five through the Commission. But which one is the freak into kinky shit? Diego? +1
“Remember Trinidad”. Noodle incident. (if you don’t know what that is google Noodle incident TV Tropes)+1
This motel has a surprising amount of towels in the bathroom. Some of the nicer places I’ve stayed don’t have that many. +1
Patch lives in house 204. “2” and “4”. Hmmm. +1
Does Diego show up on Patch’s doorstep being emo often? +1
Why is she still thinking about the 1938 fingerprint? We know that it’s plausible because of Five, but the police department should have thrown that out. It doesn’t make any sense and fingerprints can be alike. +1
She mentions the 30s cold case and Diego starts to look up in recognition. Even if he doesn’t know about the Commission or the Apocalypse, he does know about Five’s ability to time travel. He even mentions “The Boy”. Diego thinks that it was Five based on the fingerprint and his examination of the two crime scenes. -1
“For once, just try things my way”. Foreshadowing. +1
Diego hasn’t bothered to clean up the blood on his face from last night. Weirdo. +1
Allison is already forming a plan to kick Leonard’s ass the moment she sees his silhouette. Good. -1
Also, not the first time the audience has seen Leonard creeping around. Remember when he stole the journal? +1
Allison takes him down easy. Character moment showing that her superhero training hasn’t left her. Also, Allison is a badass. -1
Allison sees right through Leonard. This scene is excellent. -1
Lance has a really cute dog. -1
After seeing the shady deal while tailing Meritech, Five decides to tail Lance instead of just watching the building. Good job, Five. -1
How do you bill insurance companies for fake things? You need an insurance ID or SSN to have a patient. Where does Lance get these fake numbers from? +1
Why are eyeballs such a hot commodity? +1
“Names and numbers and I need it NOW” Five is scary. -1
Five jumped into the seatbelt. Did his powers secure it for him? +1
Five has a really organized desk. I wish I could read what he labeled the binders. +1
Luther decided to search Five’s room for clues. Pogo would be excellent at cinema sins. +1
For all we make fun of Diego’s stupid outfit, just remember, comics Diego has an even stupider one. This is the stupidity turned down. +1
The labels are now upside down on the binders when they were right side up in the last shot. +1
Either Five was a really good artist, or Reggie let Five have a poster above his bed that didn’t feature the academy. No explanation is given. +1
Five’s wallpaper depicts a boy pulling a mannequin in a wagon. -1
Luther punches a hole in Five’s wardrobe. This is never mentioned again. +1
“When you watch those nature shows does it turn you on?” Diego is a dick. +1
If you look really closely, you can see something that looks suspiciously like the ending to Apocalypse suite in Five’s room as a piece of art taped to the wall. I checked with the comics. It looks very, very similar. -1
There are two cylindrical things on the wall. One on Five’s wall and one we can see through the doorway on the wall across from Five’s room. What is it? Nightlight? Loudspeaker? Alarm? +1
Ben Hargreeves enters the chat. -1
“Stay calm, Klaus” stay calm. +1
Hazel and Cha Cha spent over 10 hours beating the crap out of Klaus but they didn’t think of the training manual, something Cha Cha clearly has memorized, until now. +1
When did they grab his coat? Klaus was wearing nothing but a towel. Did Hazel decide to grab it on a whim? +1
“Asthma medication”. Klaus is still coherent enough to come up with an okay lie after 10 hours of tourture. +1
“Amputee hookers”. Nice call back to the comics. -1
Hazel and Cha Cha don’t hear Klaus say “not until they're high as kites” when responding to Ben. +1
“Klaus, be strong”. Ben’s facial expression was really weird with this line. +1
Klaus cracks after 10 hours of tourture while going through withdrawal. Impressive. -1
The multi-screen effects look really cool. -1
Watching Hazel and Cha Cha burn down Meritech while high as kites amuses me. -1
Watching this later while knowing that Meritech doesn’t really matter means that I don’t really care about this building. I wish there was something to make this more interesting instead of just making the eye a red herring. Leonard hasn’t lost an eye yet, so it doesn’t matter. +1
What were Hazel and Cha Cha dancing to in universe? Was this song playing on the radio or something?? +1
Luther goes through the door that’s too small for him because he’s Number One and Diego goes through the door that would actually accommodate Luther’s size. +1
Vanya’s book should be way more beat up than that if it survived the literal apocalypse with Five for 45 years. The ink looks too fresh, too. Unless this is another, newer copy of Extra Ordinary? Sin for confusion. +1
Five got way too close to that explosion. Five survives this without injury. +1
We see him lying amongst the shrapnel for crying out loud! +1
Gossip magazines. “We’re doing fine!” +1
Tween Hit is still a popular magazine seventeen years later. -1
“Vanya, she’s gone” is the vaguest wording ever. +1
However, Vanya understands this. Sin on the writers. +1
“It was those psychopaths last night” weird delivery. Allison’s tone is off. +1
Does Vanya not have any students other than Leonard? She’s perfectly free on some random afternoon so she can have a drink with Allison. +1
Hazel and Cha Cha coming down from their high. -1
Cha Cha hates doughnuts. +1
Reginald Hargreeves put his eight year old son in what amounted to a tourture chamber so he would stop being afraid. Reggie is a dick. +8
Why is Ben stuck in the closet with Klaus? +1
The cleaning lady (her name is Claudia, according to a card she leaves) has one of her ears uncovered. She totally would have been able to hear him. +1
Callback to the screw Hazel threw away to remind the audience that it’s important. -1
Ben’s whiny bullshit. Now is not the time, asshole. +2
We know why the dog ear is important, but why would Patch? At this point it’s a random piece of fabric that might look like something she saw on surveillance footage (Cha Cha’s mask). Point is, that could be something from Meritech and not necessarily urgent. +1
Patch gets the message intended for Five about Klaus. When Diego thinks that the missing brother is Five and that’s who he meant when he was talking to her. Choke on that irony and miscommunication. +1
This show is shot like a comic book and I love it. -1
“That’s what you do when you’re 17” in this specific circumstance, yes. In others, not so much. You don’t have to leave when you’re 17. +1
Luther calls out Diego for not being a real grown up while also not being a real grown up himself. +1
Diego asks “You ever even been with a girl”. Diego is a dick. +1
“We’re orphans again, dude”. When were you ever orphans? Sin for the writers for writing this or to Reggie for making them believe that they were regular orphans he adopted legitimately instead of buying. +1
“Do you ever stop talking. Wow that was easy.” I wheezed.-1
Five is drunk in the library with Dolores with equations scribbled all over the place. No one stopped him when he started writing on the walls in sharpie. +1
Five has two bottles of hard liquor with him. +2
 “Drunk as a skunk” +1
The comedic timing of Five’s hand letting go of the bottle. -1
“Jerk off on your Mr. Snuggles teddy bear”. First of all, eww. Second of all, yeah, Vanya these are all valid points she’s making. You just met this dude! +1
“But sometimes men are unredeemable shits” yeah. Sin for men and for the fact that Vanya doesn’t know this. +1
“Yay sisters” -1
What are Allison and Vanya drinking? Seriously, what are their drinks of choice? It looks like Vanya has something like a gin and tonic or a vodka soda and Allison has a rum and coke, but I can’t really tell. This is a sin until I know for sure. +1
That is a lot of extra blood on Klaus with no explanation. +1
Draw Ben like one of your French girls, Klaus. -1
“Is your brother here now.” “You’re gonna have to be a little more specific on that” -1
Ben’s wink. -1
Reggie is a dick to his adopted children. +7
Torturing a literal child and calling it training. +4
Reggie, you dramatic bitch. +1
Warrants exist for a reason, Patch. +1
Also, Patch decides to follow Diego’s shitty advice without any backup. +1
Drunk Five being carried bridal style by Luther. Aidan Gallagher being carried bridal style by Tom Hopper. -1
“I’m going through puberty. Twice.” Sucks to be you. +2
You had two bottles, Five. And you somehow didn’t die of alcohol poisoning. +2
Diego’s face. -1
Aidan Gallagher doesn’t play drunk very well. To be fair, he’s never been drunk (or at least I hope he hasn’t), but it’s still a sin. +1
“You know I hate code names”, okay Spaceboy. +1
“I’m the four frickin horsemen” or Gabriel’s horn. -1
“You haven’t been this sober since you were a teenager, since you decided to keep the ghosts at bay”. I hate the delivery on this last line, but to be fair to Justin Min, it was a shitty line in the first place. Sin for delivery and for the writers. Also, gee Ben, I thought he was just doing drugs to be contrary. +2
Zoya Popova is so underrated. I love her. -1
Ben’s lil smile. -1
Vanya’s apartment is so warm and nice with all the lights on, but this is the only time we get to see it that way. When she is on good terms with Allison. Lighting cues. -1
Allison, you’re too tall to fit in Vanya’s sweatpants. They’d be sweat capris. +1
Have I mentioned how much I love Allison’s jacket in this episode yet? Because I really like it. -1
Creepy flowers are creepy. +1
“She knows it was a misunderstanding”  Allison’s face all but says. “Do I?”. Emmy Raver-Lampman rules. -1
Also, Vanya speaks for Allison. +1
This is where they decide to show just how much of a creep Leonard is. Well done, show. -1
Leonard is a creepy, manipulative little bastard. +1
Sin off for the gory sfx makeup in this episode. The ghosts look brutal! -1
Syd the tow truck driver is back. Too bad he’s dead. +1
The dead cheerleader is disturbing. +1
This episode sort of confirms the headcanon that Klaus can speak/understand many languages. -1
The gore on Klaus keeps changing. +1
The switch in camera angles shows the shift in point of views, hence why the ghosts disappear. Clever. -1
Ben voice: Nicely done. -1
Patch waited a pretty long time. How long was the walk from the library to thy gym? +1
Chair scoot. Klaus is smart. -1
Klaus gives himself a concussion. Sinning because he had to give himself more trauma to escape from touture. +1
Claudia gives Patch the key to the room without question and then runs.+1
Klaus is coherent enough to think to hide in the vent. Klaus is a smart cookie. -1
The death of Detective Eudora Patch. +1
The Klaus theme -1
Kenny’s mom appearance! Her hat and jacket have matching flowers that also match her pants. Cute. -1
Klaus’s wink. -1
Kenny’s mom definitely saw a lot more of Klaus than what was already on display. +1
Time traveling briefcase! -1
Kenny’s mom looks for Klaus under the seat. What??? +1
Diego gives Dolores a chair. How nice of him. -1
Diego’s Prime 8s poster. If you know, you know. -1
Aidan Gallager sucks at pretending to sleep. +1
“You throw another one of those goddamn knives at me, I’m pressing charges”. I love Al. -1
It was a half hour walk from the library to the gym. Patch waited a really long time. +1
Now you remember Klaus after you found Five, who wasn’t really in any danger. +1
The little pat Luther gives Dolores. -1
Diego takes his gloves off. It’s like he wants to get framed. +1
This scene is really emotional and made me cry the first time I saw it. +1
David Castaneda is a really good actor. -1
The fridging of Detective Eudora Patch. +100
Overall Review:
This episode starts off on a really high note. I follow Tom Hopper on Instagram. He’s really fit. There is no denying that. I also appreciated the way he played Luther this episode. The scene where Luther realizes what his body looks like was heartbreaking to watch and really well acted.
Speaking of heartbreaking to watch, the fridging of Detective Patch pisses me off. For those who don’t know, “Fridging” is when a female character is hurt or killed in some way in order to move a man’s story/emotional development forward. Considering that Patch’s death is what starts Diego’s character development, I would say that this applies. I am genuinely disappointed in the writers for doing this to Patch. I think it’s been established that I respect Patch. She doesn’t take any shit and she follows her moral compass. That is her real character. She only screws up when it comes to Diego and this is no different. She decided to be reckless like him and paid the ultimate price. However, this is completely out of character. Based on what we’re shown, Patch should have brought up her suspicions to Beeman (the other detective) and went from there. But instead, she had to die. That injustice done to her character is what deserves 100 sins. The show really dropped the ball with this one.
Moving on, Vanya and Allison have some really good interaction in this episode. I think it’s a little weird how quickly Vanya forgave Allison after the shit she said last episode. Diego and Allison treated Vanya like a fragile object, which is what led her to Leonard. To be fair, Vanya was pretty stupid that last episode when she didn’t run away, but that doesn’t excuse what Diego said and Allison agreed with. Overall, the yay sisters thing was a good, but sus moment.
Next, Klaus and Ben. Almost everything Ben said in this episode pissed me off. The “that’s the real tourture” speech was awful. For all the fandom loves him, Ben is a prick. However, Ben was also able to keep Klaus calm and encouraged him to control his power over the many, many ghosts in the room. So it’s kind of a wash for me this episode. I hope season 2 explores more of his character and why he would choose to say something so awful while his brother is being literally tortured.
As for the main plot, Five’s only lead, not that it really matters yet, has been destroyed. Hazel and Cha Cha realize that they’re going to end the world if they complete their mission. And Leonard has finally been revealed to be a creep who wants something to do with Vanya’s pills. On a rewatch, we know why that’s significant, but a first time viewer would be confused in a good way. The show wants the audience to ask: Why? Vanya’s pills have been there for important moments up until this point. And now there are being forcibly taken out of the equation. Why?
Total: 193
Sentence: Getting drunk in the library with your mannequin wife while trying to do math.

Please... Just for the night.
May 28th- Fake Dating
A DinahSiren powerless meet the family AU
Dinah's family comes to town for The first night of Hanukkah and she needs a date... cause she doesn't want to hear it from her mother.
If I owned anything in the Arrowverse... you already know.
_________________________________
Dinah's walking out the door of her apartment with her phone to her ear trying to not yell "I thought you all were coming on the 18th..."
On the other end of the phone she hears her mother say "We were, it's just that... Something came up and we are having to reschedule."
Dinah takes a deep breath and asks "So... You'll be here tomorrow, at about what time?" with a sigh in her voice.
Dinah's mother asks Dinah's dad in the background " Honey, about what time do you think we'll be at Dinah's tomorrow?"
After a short muffled conversation Dinah gets a simple "About 3, so I can help you get everything set up."
Walking out of her building onto the street Dinah says "I can handle it all momma, I'll see you all at about 5:30 tomorrow night." then hailing cab says quickly "I've gotta go momma, please do not come early... Just be there for dinner, I love you." hanging up before she can get a protest.
_______________
After work that night Dinah picks up her best friends Laurel and Felicity to go the the grocery store to help her get everything together so she can cook tomorrow.
Making their way through the produce section Felicity says "I'm gonna grab a couple things for the house... I'll meet you guys in dairy." shuffling off towards the fruit.
Putting her phone in her back pocket Laurel asks "What can I do to help?" with a slightly enthusiastic smile.
Dinah looks at her list and says "We need about fifteen pounds of potatoes, A couple good sized eggplants, a couple pounds of Garlic and... Six large Onions..." sounding slightly exasperated.
Laurel looks around for a moment then nudges the basket in the correct direction saying "We've got this D." with a wide encouraging smile.
_______________
Once they've gotten everything and they are almost back to Felicity and Oliver's apartment Felicity says "You know if you need any help cooking, I am only a phone call away." with a kind smile.
Dinah looks over her shoulder when they get stopped in front of Felicity's building and says "Thank's babe, I appreciate it." with a solid hug Felicity climbs out of the car waving over her shoulder.
After Felicity is fully inside Dinah pulls on down the road and after a moment of silence pulls to a stop at a sign, looks at Laurel apprehensively and asks "Are you doing anything tomorrow?" looking back to the road missing the small smile Laurel tries to hide.
Looking out the window Laurel says in a mock thoughtful voice "Give me moment... I'll take a look at my calendar " digging her phone out of her pocket and they both have a small laugh.
Watching Dinah smile for a moment Laurel shakes her head and asks "What time should I come through?"
Dinah gets an unsure look on her face and says "Well... Actually..." pulling in front of Laurel's building then looks at Laurel and says "My whole family is going to be here and I know that they all love me but every time I see them they all give me a sad look or a look of sympathy like 'Oh honey you'll find someone' and none of them get that I am happy without anyone but..." all in one breath and Laurel stops her with a gentle hand on her shoulder and Dinah takes a deep breath then looks at her hands with a slight blush.
Laurel then asks "What can I do?" with a soft smile.
Dinah looks up, locking eye's with Laurel and says "Would you mind coming as my date?" and when Laurel doesn't respond holding a look of pure shock on her face Dinah continues saying "I'm sorry, I know it's a lot, it would only be for one night, you're my best friend and I'm not gonna just ask some random person from a bar or something.." again not a breathing but this time out of anxiety.
Laurel grabs Dinah's shoulders and says "I'll be at your place around Noon." in a reassuring tone.
Dinah stops and her jaw drops slightly when she realizes what Laurel actually says and all she can ask is "Really?" with a shaken and surprised look on her face.
Laurel just smiles and leans over to kiss Dinah on the cheek then without another word gets out and walks into her building leaving Dinah with a small smile and a light blush.
_______________
The next day at about noon Dinah hear a knock on the door and calls from the kitchen "Come in Laurel!"
Laurel walks into the kitchen asking "What do you need me to do?" grabbing an apron and tying it on.
Dinah looks around and says "Well... The latkes are finished and on the warmer, the eggplant is next to prepare..." Laurel looks at the recipe for a moment and says "Alright... How much food do we have to cook?" with an almost concerned look.
Taking a deep breath Dinah says "To much... But we can do this." getting to work on the preparations.
After getting a few dishes prepped for cooking Laurel turns to Dinah and asks "So... what am I in for tonight?"
Dinah wipes her hands off and says "Well... A lot..." then grabs another recipe and says "We should probably come up with the whole how we met, how we got together and what stage we're at in our relationship..."
Laurel nods along and says "Alright, well... We could just tell the truth... We met four years ago, you asked me out one night and we've 'been together' ever sense..." then with a small breath, closing her eyes Laurel then says "And the 'stage of our relationship'... you can choose what's up with that." making herself busy with another dish.
Smiling at Laurel, Dinah laughs lightly and says "Well... We don't have to jump in the deep end with girlfriends or anything, though at the same time my Mom might not believe it if we don't have a 'label' like that... She's kind of old school." saying the last part with a sigh in her voice.
Laurel looks up from her current task and says "I am alright with 'girlfriends' on one condition." with a wry smile.
Dinah looks at Laurel with a confused and cautious look on her face but putting a challenge in her voice asks "What might that be?"
Looking Dinah in the eye meeting the challenge Laurel says "You'll have to ask me properly miss Drake."
A look of recognition dawns on Dinah's face and she walks out of the kitchen, Laurel watches Dinah walk out with a confused look on her face, when she hears Dinah's feet coming back toward the kitchen she starts to say "Dinah, I didn't mean to..." when Dinah walks in Laurel cracks a wide amused smile.
Dinah walking over to Laurel pulls a small group of roses from behind her back and says "Dinah Laurel Lance, would you please be my pretend girlfriend for the night?"
With an almost goofy smile Laurel takes the flowers, kisses Dinah's cheek again and says "You are such a doof, but yes, absolutely."
_______________
After getting everything together and cooking it all they have everything together and placed about five minutes before everyone is supposed to arrive and Dinah says "Is there anything we've missed babe?"
Laurel smiles at the pet name and says "Not that I can tell dear." walking over to Dinah with her apron in hand.
Dinah smiles brightly and says "Why have we never cooked together before?" with a light laugh in her voice then saying as an after thought "That was so much easier."
Laurel places her hand on Dinah's upper back rubbing circles lightly and says "We've never been together before." with a teasing smile.
They hear a knock on the door and Dinah says "Brace yourself..."
Walking behind Dinah toward the door Laurel says "I'm just ready to meet your family." smiling widely at Dinah when she looks over her shoulder with a smile and a slightly raised eyebrow.
Dinah opens the door and all Laurel can hear is murmuring and "Hello"s, "Look at you"s, "It's been so long"s and of course the "Baby girl!"
As Dinah closes the door she gets everyone's attention and introduces Laurel "Momma, family... This is my girlfriend Laurel." Then says "Laurel, this is my momma, my bubby and... The rest of these amazing people are my cousins, uncles and aunt..."
Laurel links her hand with Dinah and says "I am so glad you all came." then extends her hand to Dinah's mother and says "Mrs. Drake, I am so glad to finally meet you." and as she retracts her hand she and Dinah subconsciously lean into one another.
Dinah's mother looks at them and says "Laurel, you can call me Berta." smiling brightly then says "Dinah, you didn't tell me that you found someone..." gesturing with her hands toward them.
Dinah looks down at her and Laurel's linked hands then says "Well momma... There's been a lot going on at the PD and..."
Laurel steps in and says "It's kind of new, Mrs..." getting a look from Dinah's mother the corrects herself saying "...Berta, we haven't been together for very long." with a smile.
Walking along into the dinning room Laurel pulls Dinah's chair out for her at the head of the table then sits down herself at Dinah's Left.
As the food gets passed around and everyone starts eating Berta asks Laurel from across the table and asks "So how did you and my daughter meet?" with a curious look on her face.
Laurel swallows her food and says "Well... we had been working just adjacent to one another for a few month, I work for the D.A. so we had a lot of cases that overlapped paper work wise cross our desks, but we actually met thanks to a mutual friend and Dinah has been the best friend I could have asked for other than of course Felicity for years now..." smiling softly, placing her hand under Dinah's.
Berta looks at there hands then between Dinah and Laurel and says "Sounds like a hallmark love story to me." with a bright smile and with a slight curiosity asks "Having known each other for so long... Why did you only start dating recently?"
Dinah gets a slight look of panic on her face but Laurel looking at Dinah answers "When I met Dinah we were at each other a lot cause we looked at justice from two different view points, but no matter what I always walked away with a feeling in my chest that I could only describe as calming fire, after about a year I knew that I never wanted Dinah to not be in my life so I started spending my weekends making her and Felicity watch movie marathons or doing something around the city... not like we didn't do that before but I made it happen a lot more often." Then looking at Dinah and squeezing her hand, Laurel takes a small breath and says "After almost three years I knew for sure that my feelings for this wonderful woman were not only real but not going anywhere, even if I was not going to pursue them because she wasn't looking for anyone at the time... Fast forward a few months into this new year and she actually asks me out now... well here we are." closing her eyes and taking a bite of her food Laurel feels Dinah squeeze her hand and slide her thumb across her knuckles.
Laurel chances a look at Dinah and only sees a happy smile.
Everyone around the table give a resounding "Aww" and Berta says "That is so sweet, thank you for showing that kind of respect for my daughter." then looking to Dinah, Berta says "I like her, I think you found a keeper Dinah." with a happy and encouraging smile on her face.
Dinah gets a wide smile on her face, looks at Laurel and says "I fully agree."
_______________
As everyone gets up from the table and get's ready to leave Berta pulls Laurel aside and says "I can tell that you really love my daughter and I couldn't ask for a better partner for her, please take care of her for me alright."
Laurel simply nods her head and says "Yes ma'am."
Berta smiles wide and hugs Laurel tightly, walks to Dinah hugs her the same and says "Call me tomorrow and let me know when you'll be in town so we can get everyone together for a proper reunion... and maybe you can bring Laurel." saying the last part looking over her shoulder at Laurel with a smile.
Dinah smiles softly at Laurel who is walking back toward the dinning room then looks to her mother and says "Yes momma, I will."
After shutting the door Dinah walks back into the Dinning room to find Laurel cleaning and clearing the table and says "You don't have to do that Laurel, it's late..."
Not looking at Dinah, Laurel says "I'm alright, honestly I'm still kind of buzzing from all the activity... Today was a lot of fun."
Dinah walks over and starts helping Laurel and they don't say much until they finish loading the dishwasher when Dinah takes a deep breath and asks "How did you come up with that story for my mom?"
Laurel looks at Dinah with what she hopes is a calm look and says "I'm not sure what you mean..."
Dinah looks Laurel in the eye and says "When you said that you have real feeling for me..." with a slightly hopeful tone in her voice.
Laurel ducks her head and says "You said you wanted 'us' to seem real... And we also agreed to tell the truth so... That's what I did."
Dinah looks on in shock for a moment until Laurel lifts her head and sees Dinah's face, nodding her head in acceptance Laurel turns and says "I'll see you later Dinah..." walking towards the front door.
Dinah snaps back to reality and rushes after Laurel, taking Laurel's elbow in her hand turning her around all she says in "I feel the same for you." looking into Laurel's eyes to make sure Laurel knows that she's telling the truth.
Laurel gets an unreadable look on her face for a moment until she leans toward Dinah slowly, giving Dinah the opportunity to pull away, when Dinah closes the rest of the distance between them they both see starts.
When they pull apart, eyes still closed, foreheads leaned together, Laurel whispers "Wow."
Dinah opens her eyes and says "Wow indeed." smiling a content smile.
Laurel opens her eyes and says "You have no idea how long I've wanted to do that." with a wide joyous smile.
Holding Laurel tight to herself Dinah says "Yeah... I think I do."

Gnome your Enemy, Courting Hazards
AO3 Link (available on 7/31/2020) This is pretty much Ep 4 pt 1& 2 with revisions.
River’s P.O.V.
I watched as Draal stood, growling lowly at Jim. “5 days,” he snarled, “we will fight in the forge.” He turned, huffing through his nose blowing out a cloud of steam. He walked out, head held high, nodding to me as he passed. I tilt my head in recognition, debating on following Draal to ask what had happened. As I stepped to follow after him, I was suddenly lifted from the ground and into a group hug with Toby and Jim, Arrrgh had already caught them.
Blinky clapped two of his four hands, grinning up at us, “Excellent, Master Jim! We should start your trying right away if you are to defeat Draal!”
Arrrgh laughed deeply as he walked out of the bar before setting Jim, Toby, and I down again.
Toby punched Jim’s arm, grinning “This is gonna be awesome! Right River? Oh! Hey River, when did you get here?” he asked.
“I walked in during your confrontation. What made you snap?” I asked Jim, frowning.
Jim was scratching the back of his neck sheepishly, “Well, I got in a fight with Steve, and-”
I raised my hand to cut him off, “No, why did you challenge Draal?”
“He was talking shit about his and Jim’s sparring yesterday!” Toby almost yelled, glaring at the memory.
Blinky clasped my shoulder as he guided us to the forge, “Come now masters, we have much training to do!” He took notice of the metal rod in my hand. “River? What do you have there?”
I lift the rod, looking over it confused for a moment, “Oh,” I held it out and tightened my grip slightly, as I did the rod began to glow blue and the lance I had forged with Vendel sprung to life, the veining in the staff giving off a faint sapphire glow. “Vendel and I found a way to channel my magic, he told me to find Jim to practice, but I think I’ll pass for today, he needs to learn troll fighting, not how hard I can bash his skull in.” I teased, lightly whacking Jim on the top of his head with the non-bladed end of the lance.
Jim laughs, smacking the lance away from him. “Those were the drawings you were working on Friday night, right? It looks amazing River!
“No way! I thought your magic was gonna be your cool superhero thing, now you have a weapon too?” Toby asked, pouting slightly.
I shrugged, “Think of it more as a sharp wand.”
Blinky held his hands out, “May I?” He asks. I smile and place the lance in his hands. He tested the weight, swinging it slightly before looking over the sapphire veining closely. “Incredible Lady River! You made the gems for this?”
I nod, reaching into my black satchel and grabbing the extra gem I took, not the one that looks like Draal’s crystalline back. I handed it to Blinky, taking my lance back. “You should see the one in the center of the Heartstone. I went a little overboard.”
Blinky inspects the gem closely before handing it back. “I will once Jim’s training is finished for the day, thank you Lady River.”
I nod noticing Toby’s eyes are locked on the crystal now in my hand, I chuckle before handing it to him. “I thought you could add this to your collection.”
Toby grins taking the crystal, he starts jumping, listing off various gems, trying to place what it could be. Arrrgh taps the stone, smiling “Not normal gem. Magic.” He explains, letting Toby know he won’t be to categorize it.
Jim shakes his head at his best friend’s excitement, “He’s not going to stop talking about this for a while,” he smiles to me before patting my shoulder. “Why don’t you head home River, you’ve been here for two days straight.”
Smiling, I nod, letting the lance collapse again. “I’ll be heading out soon. Is it daylight?”
Blinky shakes his head, “Sunset, actually. You’ll want to hurry home before Bular is out running around.”
Nodding, I hug Jim and ruffle Toby’s hair. “I’ll see you later tonight! Bye Blinky! Bye Arrrgh!” I took off running towards the exit for Trollmarket, keeping my eye out for a certain blue Troll. I frown slightly when I don’t see him, shrugging it off. Draal had a fight he probably wasn’t too worried about preparing for, but still, he was probably getting ready.
I climbed up the crystal steps to the canal exit of Trollmarket, playing with the lance as I walked, twisting it around my hand and back, slowly at first, trying to get the motions down. As I went to flip the lance over my hand it hit part of the stone wall and bounced back, hitting me in the head. “Ow…” I quickly grab the side of my head, trying to dull the throbbing. A sudden burst of laughter caught my attention. I looked up to see Draal, bent over laughing, at the canal exit.
I huffed at him, giving him a mock glare, “Oh, come on! I’ve barely had it an hour! Did you think I’d be doing backflips by now?” I asked, pouting a bit, still rubbing my head.
He straightens up, slowly getting control of his laughter, “You were just doing well, and then you were bested by a wall.” Snickering, “That’s two walls that have it out for you.” He remarked, referring to my destroying a wall in the forge during his and Jim’s spar.
“And here I thought you were supposed to save me when the walls decided to attack.” I snarked back.
He smirked before opening the exit, walking through. “I remember saying not to launch yourself off of walls when I can’t be there to help you, not that I’d protect you if they attacked.”
I followed him through the exit, walking beside him as we head in the direction of my house, laughing. “Well, I kept up part of my deal!”
“Still bested by the wall.” He smirked down at me.
Rolling my eyes, I collapse the lance, slowing my pace. “Well, I don’t have any training yet, of course, the wall is going to win! That’s like me trying to pick a fight with you!”
Draal slows to match my pace, snorting at the thought. “You’re too smart to try that. Even for a fleshbag.” He tilts his head in thought. “You will be training with the troll hunter?”
I shook my head, “Nah, Blinky’s gonna have all four hands full trying to keep Jim in line, I doubt he’d be able to handle us both. Besides, he has to train for whatever fight you agreed to earlier. Fighting me won’t help with that.”
At the mention of the fight, Draal stops short, watching me. “You don’t seem worried.”
“You’re sparring with Jim again, I’m more worried about falling off another wall.” I joke, frowning when I look back to Draal, a serious expression etched on his face.
“This isn’t just a spar River.” He began slowly, “Honor was questioned. I will answer the call.” He began, “This is a fight to the death.”
I could feel the color drain from my face, going cold at Draal’s words. “Death…” He nods, watching my reaction closely. “He doesn’t know that!” I yelled, throwing my hand in the direction of the canal. “He probably thinks this is just another sparring session!”
Draal huffed, “If his teacher has any sense, he will explain the mistake he made.”
“Mistake?! Draal, one of you could die!” I started to panic, scared for both of them. “Please Draal, I understand there are things Jim and I both don’t know yet of your culture, but please reconsider this fight. If either of you…” I trailed off, hands shaking. I did the only thing I could think of to calm down, I rushed forward, hugging Draal tight, hiding my face. “Please, just… consider it. I don’t know if asking this is acceptable for Trolls, but losing my family or my friend…”
Draal had gone stiff when I rushed him, moving into a defensive stance. When he realized I was hugging him, he didn’t know what to do. After a moment of silence, he finally reached up to pat my head, “If asked by anyone else, I would take insult, however, I will consider it. Though if he continues to insult, I will not hold back.” He stated.
I nod my head, still hiding against his chest. “Thank you Draal,” I slowly pull back when the shaking in my arms subsides. “Sorry for rushing you…”
He merely pats my head again, continuing our way to my house. “You need a trainer for that weapon, and I need to train, though I doubt it will be much of a fight to train for. I will train you how to wield your weapon properly, starting tomorrow. You’ve been locked in a forge with the old goat for two days straight. Get some rest.” He paused at the back door of the house, nodding to himself.
I yawned, nodding to him. “I’ll see you tomorrow then. Good night Draal.” I smile and pat his forearm before heading in.
“Goodnight River,” He called, leaving for Trollmarket.
I quickly grab a granola bar, eating as I head up to my room. Kicking my shoes off before crawling under the covers, sitting up long enough to grab the gem I made that resembled Draal’s back and setting it on my nightstand then passing out for the night.
The next morning, I woke up early to do my chores, sweeping downstairs and dusting before Jim wakes up. Once I was done, I rushed upstairs to get ready for the day, changing into black baggy cargo pants, combat boots, and a dark purple long sleeve. Grabbing my backpack and satchel, I filtered through everything I needed for school and training. Grabbing my collapsed lance, I walked out of my room as Jim’s alarm went off.
Jim was dragging his feet as he was walked out, mumbling in Spanish. Grabbing his book bag off the banister he headed straight into the garage. It looks like we were leaving right away. I quickly stuffed the lance in my backpack and took off after Jim.
Toby was already out front with taco truck bags. “I grabbed breakfast and lunch!” He grinned, handing me a breakfast burrito and diablo maximus for later.
Jim yawned, taking his bag, “Thanks Tobes, next time they’re on me.” We ate as we walked to school, having decided to nix the bikes since Toby’s was crushed by Bular, and he was too nervous to ride with Jim or me.
“Thank you, Toby!” I grin taking a bite. “Ironic choice since Jim woke up speaking Spanish.”
Toby laughed, “Yeah, we have that comprehension test this week. Speaking of, any tips, teacher’s aide?” he looked up to me hopefully.
I shook my head, “Sorry Toby it’s a comprehension test, you’re speaking the entire time, no scantrons.”
Jim groaned, rubbing his eyes, “Besides, the last time we asked River for help, she would only communicate with us in Spanish for a week Tobes.”
Toby shuddered, “Remind me never to ask for language help again, I had a killer migraine trying to figure out how to ask for toast!”
I laughed as we walked into the school, “I’ll see you two later, try not to cause trouble.” I headed off to my art class.
During Senor Uhl’s class, I had to listen as Mary stumbled over both her Spanish and English. I cringed, between Senor Uhl’s chalk screeching on the blackboard, and Mary’s terrible story about playing two guys.
“Little did anyone know; Maria was juggling two hombres. Manolo was muy guapo, but Joaquin had muchos musculos.” As Mary spoke, I glanced around the room, glaring as I saw Steve harassing Jim. “And poor Maria had a pedoso heart.” I flinched hearing Mary, Senor Uhl’s chalk snapped once she said ‘pedoso.’
He quickly turned around, arms held behind his back, “What kind of heart did Maria have, Miss Wang?” He questioned Mary, walking around his desk.
“Um, a heavy heart. ‘Pe-Do-So.’ Or is it-” Mary was beginning to panic.
“I would hope Maria wouldn’t have a pedoso heart, because that would mean ‘gassy’” He interrupted Mary, lecturing her. “Did Maria have a gassy heart, Miss Wang?”
Mary was embarrassed and almost on the verge of tears, “Of course not Senor Uhl!”
“You were trying to say ‘pesado.’ ‘A heavy heart.’” He stated, “And it is with a heavy heart, Miss Wang, to tell you, that you have not shown the slightest comprehension of basic Spanish.” He grabbed the tissue box, holding it out towards her. “If you can’t even finish the exam, I have no choice but to fail you.”
Mary’s face fell, she grabbed a tissue quickly as she began to cry over her failing grade. I sighed, writing down the grade next to her name on a spreadsheet Senor Uhl gave me to keep a record as he focused on listening to them.
As the bell rung everyone got up to leave, I waited for all the students to exit.
“Mr. Lake, I look forward to your presentation tomorrow.” Senor Uhl commented to Jim as he passed by to leave, stretching.
“Yeah,” Jim chuckled nervously, quickly moving to the door, “I’m ready…”
I shook my head, handing the sheet to Senor Uhl before heading out. I found Jim and Toby by the lockers, Jim looking upset. “What happened? You look like you just failed instead of Mary.”
Toby shook his head, “He just got guilt-tripped by Claire for missing rehearsal yesterday.”
“She thinks I’m a jerk!” Jim threw his hands up as we started the walk to the canal.
“Two days in and you’re already skipping.” I shook my head. “How was training last night?”
Toby sighed, “Before or after the gnome stole the amulet?”
“I’m sorry, what stole the amulet?” I asked Toby, not sure if I had heard correctly.
Jim groaned, “That’s right, we need one of the gems you made, Blinky said it would help with getting the gnome.”
I nodded, “There’s a few stored in the Heartstone chambers by Vendel’s study, Blinky can grab whichever one he needs.” I pulled out a horngazel that Vendel had given me. Opening the entrance and walking through.
Jim frowned slightly, “You’re not going to hang out with us? I thought Vendel was giving you a break to train with the lance?” he asked, following me in with Toby.
I smile and nodded, heading down the stone steps, “He is, but you need to train for your fight with Draal, someone offered to teach me how to properly wield the lance.” I state, leaving out the part that I was training with Draal, not sure how happy Jim would be about it.
Toby looked at me confused, “Can’t be Vendel, I don’t think he’s that spry.”
I snickered shaking my head, waving them off as the met with Blinky and Arrrgh, “I’ll see you later, good luck with the gnome!” I called, running off to find Draal.
I scoured Trollmarket for almost an hour, asking other Trolls if they had seen Draal, most of which just snorted at me and kept on with whatever they were doing before. I sighed, walking through a part of the market dedicated to different types of Troll cuisine, wondering if Draal had to leave for something important.
As I made my way through the stalls, I was suddenly hit by something large and wall-like from behind. My feet were swept off the floor as whatever ran into me decided to lift me. I quickly grabbed my lance, angling it so the staff would ram into whatever had grabbed me as I activated it. As calculated, once I activated the lance, the staff quickly shot back and I was launched out of the grip, landing on my feet about 8 feet forward. Swinging the lance into a defensive position as I turned, ready to face whatever attacked me, I was met with laughter.
Draal had been my surprise attacker. Though he was laughing, I didn’t sense that he was mocking me. “What the hell Draal? What if I had stabbed you instead?” I asked, pissed at being caught off guard.
Draal clasped his hands, his laughter had died out, but he was grinning. “You weren’t aiming for anything vital, so it wouldn’t have done much harm. I’m impressed at your quick reflexes though. Good to know you’ve got some fight in you too.”
I groaned, realizing why I wasn’t able to find him. Why the other Trolls were looking at me like I was crazy when I had asked for Draal. “You were following me the entire time.”
Draal nods, placing a hand on my back to guide me as we walked. “Since you entered Trollmarket with the Trollhunter and the other fleshbag.”
“Toby,” I remarked, noticing how depending on who Draal was referring to, ‘fleshbag’ either sounded endearing, usually towards me or annoyed, Toby and Jim.
Draal snorted, “Right, To-bee.” He drawled out on purpose, smirking down at me. “We’ll be training in the caverns since you haven’t told the Trollhunter I was training you; I figured the forge wouldn’t be available.” He stated a slight irritation in his tone.
I sighed, “Sorry, he knows we get along, but with the outburst in the bar, and your fight coming up, I don’t know how he’d react.”
Draal hummed, leading me into the caverns, large dark caves illuminated by the glowing gems embedded in the walls. “You are worried he will disapprove.”
I snort a laugh, “Hell no, I just don’t want to psych him out before the fight.”
Draal smirked at my answer, seeming to be in a better mood. We stopped in a large cave, a little smaller than the forge. It was well lit compared to some of the other caves we had traversed through. Draal motioned for me to face him, pulling out a training staff. “Mimic my movements.” He started by holding the staff in both hands parallel to the ground at arm’s length. As I took the position and copied his stance, he swung the staff down to the side, then pulled it up over his head, standing on one foot.
I mimicked Draal for a few hours, the movements became fluid, more stances were varied. Soon he was instructing me on lunging techniques and blocking. Around midnight we were sparring fluidly. As Draal curled into his ‘boulder stance’ as I began to call it, he set off to ram into me. I quickly dug the end of the lance into the ground as Draal was a few feet away, closing in fast, and I vaulted myself over him, swinging the lance around to whack his side with the blunt end, landing behind him.
Draal landed on his feet and grabbed his side where I had hit, he cheered turning to me, “Well done River! Similar to your evasion of my surprise attack earlier.” He nodded to himself, going over the maneuver again.
I dropped to sit on the floor, chest heaving, covered in sweat. “Thanks, Draal. You’re a good trainer, I’m surprised how far I’ve gotten.”
Draal smirked sitting next to me, “You need a break. We’ve been training since the sun was up.” I grin, flopping back on the ground, looking up at him. “Thank Daya! I’m exhausted!” My stomach growled and I groaned.
Draal barked a laugh, “Looks like you’ll need to move or your stomach will keep screaming.” He poked my stomach as it growled again. I yelped whacking his hand away quickly causing Draal to frown, “You can’t be injured, you never sustained a blow to that side of your torso.” I huffed, hugging over my stomach before he could decide to prod and look for injuries, “I’m not hurt, that just tickled.” “Tickled? What is tickled?” Draal asked a look of utter confusion etched over his face. I tilt my head to face him, trying to explain what tickling is, “Well, being ticklish means that when you’re touched certain ways, it sets off nerves and you get this feeling under your skin, your skin jumps, but in a really weird way it's not a bad feeling. People’s reactions vary though. Some people laugh uncontrollably, others kick and punch, trying to get away from the tickling.”
Draal’s face was etched in morbid curiosity as he looked from his fingers to my stomach again. “Why do fleshbags have such weaknesses?” He begins to poke at my leg when he doesn’t get a reaction, he poked my arm. When I fail to react again, he starts poking at my sides that weren’t covered by my arms.
I screech, laughing. Quickly trying to wiggle away from Draal as he continued to poke my sides. Squirming, tears flowing down my cheeks, and gasping for air, I grapple his arm with my arms and legs, hanging off of it like a sloth. “STOP!”
Draal laughs at my tactic, lifting his arm so I’m dangling in the air. “How is this helping you?” He asked.
“Well you stopped, didn’t you?” I stuck my tongue out at him indignantly.
“Careful, you don’t want to lose that.” He smirked as I squeaked, quickly pulling my tongue back.
“Are you threatening to rip or cut my tongue out?” I asked in mock disdain.
He hums in thought, tilting his head slightly, “Possibly…” He suddenly shakes the arm I’m hanging from with a smirk.
I yelp at the sudden movement and let go, landing on his lap, glaring up at him. “How dare you, sir! I was hanging on that!” I gesture to his arm dramatically.
Draal shook his head and stood as my stomach growled again, picking me up off his lap so I was sitting in the crook of his arm. “Let’s get you some food.” He began to head out of the caverns.
Holding my collapsed lance close, I squirm in his hold, not used to being carried. “Um, Draal, I can walk.”
He glanced down but made no move to set me down. “You trained well past your limit today. I doubt you’d be able to walk far,” he reasoned. We quickly made it back into Trollmarket, stopping at a stall with food that was safe for humans to eat. Draal handed the food to me, walking through the market. “Eat this, it might taste like rocks.”
I took the food and began eating quickly, tilting my head at the taste, “not rocks, but nothing I’ve tasted before.” I spoke up. I pulled my phone out to check the time, groaning. “I have to get home, it’s 3 am, and I have school tomorrow… well, today.”
Draal nods and heads out of Trollmarket to the canal. “Why do you attend this school, surely you are learning well under Vendel.”
I laughed shaking my head, knowing human school was a weird concept for trolls in general. “If I had a choice in the matter, I would love to run off to Trollmarket and focus on magic studies, but as I grew up human, well, we are forced to attend learning institutions until we graduate high school, and if we don’t, we can get into trouble.”
“Bushigal!” He sneered, “Fleshbags and their idiotic rules.”
I shrugged, “Yup, and with mom being a doctor, well, she’s all about getting an education. I don’t think she’d be okay with me dropping to study magic any time soon.”
Draal hummed, “It is best she remains unaware, the fewer humans know, the better.” Climbing over the fence and into the backyard, Draal finally sets me down. “You said you could leave after high school, what are you in now?”
“I’m in my senior, or last, year of high school, I’ll graduate in June.” I paused, thinking about what Vendel has explained to me so far. “I’ve been thinking, Vendel said I would begin to age like a troll, does that mean I wouldn’t be able to stay around humans for long?” I asked Draal.
He hummed, thinking for a moment, “It depends on how long it takes for the fleshbags to notice you aren’t changing as fast. Worried? It's not like you won’t have anywhere to go.” He stated as if it were obvious to me.
I looked up at him confused, “Where am I supposed to go? I can’t exactly afford to move around to different cities or states.”
Draal rolled his eyes at my question, “Trollmarket. You’re a sorceress, not a human, you’d be welcomed and respected in Trollmarket. Why do you think the Trolls leave you alone yet go out of their way to mess with the other fleshbags?”
“Because Toby can be loud and invasive and Jim is the first human Trollhunter,” I state with a blank look.
Draal shook his head, “You are more Troll-like than you are human. You were recognized and taken in by the leader of Trollmarket, you study the arcane under him. The most fearsome warrior in Trollmarket took you under his wing to train you in weaponry,” he smirked, boasting, “and you’ve forged your weapon in the short amount of time you have been coming to Trollmarket. I’m surprised you haven’t moved in yet.”
I laughed at his boasting, grinning up at him, “Thanks Draal, maybe once I finish school, I’ll take you up on that.” I paused, yawning. “I’ll see you tomorrow for training my most fearsome warrior.” I tease hugging him, lifting my head slightly under his chin before heading inside, “Goodnight, Draal.”
If I had stayed a moment longer, I would have noticed that Draal had gone stone still at the gesture, once I had shut the door behind me, his jaw dropped, staring at the door, a hand rose under his chin where my head had been. Draal had to remind himself that I still didn’t know much about Troll culture and that I most likely had no idea what I had just done.
I was happily dreaming of moving to Trollmarket when loud banging on my bedroom door woke me up. “It’s too early!” I yelled, throwing my pillow at the door.
Toby burst in, seeing me in bed his jaw dropped. “River! It’s time to leave! Also, Jim has a problem! Pack your laptop,” he yelled quickly, slamming my door shut.
I glared at the door before checking my phone for the time. “Shit, it is late!” I jump out of bed getting dressed as fast as I can, grabbing my laptop before running out after Toby. “What’s the problem? Where is Jim?”
Toby and I were running to school. “He’s at my house, Blinky shrunk him so he could catch a gnome and he hasn’t gotten bigger!”
I groaned, “I’m guessing the laptop is so he doesn’t fail his Spanish presentation?” I asked as we barely made it onto the campus as the final bell rang.
“Yup! See you in Senor Uhl’s class!” Toby yelled, rushing off to his first period. This was going to be weird.
Once we finally got to Senor Uhl’s class, I spoke to him before the bell. “Senor Uhl, I’m sorry this is a bit different, but Jim’s home sick. Is it alright if he gives his comprehension exam by video chat?” I asked, hoping Toby’s plan would work out.
Senor Uhl tapped his desk thinking. “I don’t see why not. At least he’s responsible enough to keep up with schoolwork while ill.” He nodded, allowing me to set up the laptop.
I logged in and waved to Jim, snickering as I recognized the background as the dollhouse in Toby’s room. “Ready Jim?” I asked.
Jim gave me a thumbs up. “Ready to go! Hola! Sorry, I couldn’t be en escuela, Senor Uhl, but I’m sick en casa. Which is fitting, since I’m doing mi comprehension presentacion on Ponce de Leon, who muerto-ed from a great illness.”
“Hey!” Steve yelled glaring at Jim on the screen. “’Muerto-ed’ is not a word!”
I rolled my eyes at Steve, sitting at my desk in the back with the grading sheet.
“Nope.” Senor Uhl began, “I’m curious to see where this is going. Continue Mr. Lake.” He waved Steve’s objection off.
Jim grinned when he was given the go-ahead, and I smirked at Steve, Jim continued his presentation until a vacuum cut him off, I dropped my head to my desk. Why was Nana cleaning now? “the feunte de la juventud, the Fountain of Youth.” Jim continued, scrambling closer to the screen.
“What is that horrible noise?” Senor Uhl asked.
“Uh, constuccion.” Jim quickly explained. “Uh, remodeling. A minor intrusion. Un minute, Senor Uhl.” Jim's face planted against the screen.
“Mr. Lake?” Senor Uhl was confused, “Mr. Lake are you still there? We don’t have all day.”
“No, no… No need to fight at home.” Jim spoke up, turning back to the screen. “Ponce de Leon joined Columbus in the New… New- What in the world?!” Jim yelled, looking past the screen again.
The next thing I know, Jim is fighting with a gnome, running on and off-screen as he continues his presentation. After a few minutes, he sat on the toy couch, out of breath. “But in the end, they were taken care of. And that is it for my presentacion. I hope this wasn’t too much trouble, Senor Uhl. Hasta luego.”
Eli jumped up from his seat, applauding “Spectacular!”
Senor Uhl shook his head at Eli’s outburst, turning back to the laptop. “Very, very informative, Mr. Lake. C-plus.” He said. Jim groaned as his body began to misshapen. “Fine. B-minus.” Senor Uhl stated quickly, looking worriedly at the screen and Jim seized up.
“Jim! Jim, what’s wrong?” Eli asked, taking his seat again.
I rushed out of my seat, closing the laptop quickly. “Sorry about that construction must have messed with the wifi!” The bell rang and I ran out to find Toby, grabbing him as soon as I pass by and dragging him off campus, all the way home. “Jim’s freaking out! He started changing shape after his presentation!” I yelled as we ran into Toby’s house and up the stairs.
Toby slammed his bedroom door open revealing a full-size Jim sitting in front of the dollhouse. “Jim!” Toby yelled, “You’re big again!”
Jim chuckled patting over his ribs, “I think my spleen switched sides, but everything’s better now.” He joked.
Toby hugged him, “I’m sorry I failed you, Jim. I should have done it when I had the chance.”
I looked between the two confused. “What are you talking about?”
Jim pulled back and moved away from the dollhouse, introducing us to the gnome that was attacking him on screen. Toby quickly dubbing him Gnome Chompsky when Jim says we can keep him.
“Chompsky. I like it.” Jim grinned. I nodded in agreement, snickering when Chompsky tried the movie theater, yawning arm move on the doll.
Jim laughed closing the dollhouse. “Pretty good for a first mission. Two crises averted. It’s not like you get to rehearse these things.” Jim’s face fell as he took a sharp breath. “Oh, no! Rehearsal! I gotta go!” Jim took off running out of Toby’s house.
I sighed before getting up, “I have to go too, I’ve got training in Trollmarket. See you late Tobes!” I wave heading out, running to the canal. Excited to continue training with Draal. As I walk into the canal entrance I run straight into a blue troll, though he wasn’t the blue troll I was expecting. “Blinky? Are you leaving? The sun is still up.” I asked confused.
“Ah, Lady River! Good to see you, I’m waiting on Master Jim, he should be arriving soon, your school let out a while ago.” Blinky explained, frowning as the portal closed behind me with no Jim in sight.
“Sorry Blinky, he ran off to rehearsal, school activities sometimes last longer than a normal day,” I said, making my way to the steps.
Blinky sighed, disappointed that Jim wouldn’t be coming anytime soon. “That’s a shame, he has so much training, especially considering his match with Draal.” Blinky shuddered. “Maybe it’s for the best, that Troll has been in a strange mood since last night,” Blinky noted, walking down with me to Trollmarket.
I frowned, worried for Draal, “Strange mood? Is he sick? Can trolls get sick?” I asked, going over our training to see if Draal could’ve gotten hurt. “Did Bular attack?”
Blinky shook his head quickly, waving his hands, “No, nothing like that. Yes, trolls can get sick. I don’t think he ran into Bular after his night out, but he seems to be distracted, and Draal is never distracted.”
I snort a laugh, “Oh yes, the ‘most fearsome warrior in Trollmarket,’ couldn’t possibly be distracted.”
Blinky pauses, tilting his head at my choice of words, “Have you been spending time with Draal?”
I stiffen at the question, unsure of Blinky’s tone, “Well yeah, I mean, we’ve been hanging out since… wow, the first night we came to Trollmarket. Vendel had him take me home since Bular was still running around and it kind of became routine if I don’t leave with Jim and Toby. He offered to train me with the lance so there’s that too…” I trail off watching Blinky’s face.
His jaw drops when I mention training. “DRAAL offered to TRAIN YOU?” Blinky asked in disbelief, an annoyed growl from behind catching our attention.
“I did.” Draal was standing behind us, glaring at Blinky as if he was challenging him.
I grinned walking up to him, “Ready to go?”
Blinky’s mouth was still open, looking between Draal and me, trying to get more than ‘you’ and ‘him’ out in a sentence. Draal nods as his glare morphed into a smirk, “Maybe we should train in the forge since the Trollhunter is busy, that way his teacher can get a sense of what he’s up against in his next fight.”
I look up at Draal confused, then I turn to Blinky and shrug. “That’s fine with me, uh…” I waved my hand in front of Blinky’s face.
Blinky snapped his mouth close glaring up at Draal. “Let’s go then, I’m sure we will all learn a lot.” He huffed, turning to get Arrrgh, heading to the forge.
I kept my pace slow, Draal matching my step. I was still worried about what Blinky had said. “Hey, Draal? Are you doing okay?” I asked, looking up to him as we walked.
Draal tilted his head towards me, confused, “Of course, why do you ask?”
I shrug a bit, glancing to Blinky and Arrrgh ahead of us, “Blinky said you’ve been distracting since you came back from taking me home, I was wondering if something happened?”
Draal stiffened, “On my way back? No, I… didn’t think I was distracted.”
I nod, watching his reaction, “Did,” I paused, selecting my words carefully, “Did I do something?” Draal winced at my question. Frowning I turned to face him, “I did.”
Draal sighed, waiting for Blinky and Arrrgh to walk through the forge entrance before explaining, “Culturally it isn’t… bad.” He began, tilting his head in thought, “You wouldn’t have known about it either. Do not worry about it.”
“What did I do? I doubt you’d be distracted if I had accidentally done something small like insulting your cooking.” I said, trying to go over everything I did or said last night. “Was it the hug? No, you’ve let me hug you before… was it the teasing? Calling you ‘my most fearsome warrior?’”
Draal shook his head, sighing “It was the gesture during your hug,” He pats my head, “a troll nuzzles their head under another’s chin when courting.”
I froze under his hand, face turning dark red, “Courting… that’s more serious than dating.” I groaned hiding my face in my hands, “No wonder you were upset! I’m so sorry Draal, that was probably insulting.”
Draal was confused by my reaction, “You believe I would take insult to court you?” He frowns pulling his hand from my head.
I look up at him, face still red, “well, no but… I’m not exactly a Troll.” I tried to explain.
“Then you take insult to a Troll courting you?” He asked, brow knit as his confusion deepened.
“Not at all! Well, depending on the troll.” I muttered, tilting my head in thought. “Though I don’t personally know a lot of Trolls. I’m closest to you and Vendel, so I don’t see a Troll trying to court me anytime soon.”
Draal nodded, continuing into the forge, contemplating my answer.
“There you two are! I thought you were supposed to be training?” Blinky huffed, all four arms crossed over his chest, still irritated by Draal’s quip about teaching Jim. Arrrgh just pats his head, trying to calm him down.
Dropping my bag, I grabbed my lance. “Seriously Blinky?” I shook my head before taking my stance, ready for any surprise Draal might have up his sleeves if he had sleeves.
Draal smirked, taking his stance. We slowly circled the perimeter of the forge, watching each other for the slightest move to attack. Draal lost his patience first, roaring and taking his boulder stance he took off after me, quicker than when we were training last night. I stayed planted until the last second before springing out of the way just enough not to get hit. Swinging the lance around, I dug my foot into the ground as it made contact with Draal. Growling, my hands began to glow as I channeled magic through the staff, forcing the swing to continue and I was able to knock Draal back, causing him to uncurl and land on his back.
He sat up, looking at me bewildered for a moment before smirking and jumping to his feet. I took a defensive stance as he held his hands up, walking up to me calmly, “Hands,” he stated, holding one of his out, palm up.
I was confused until I realized that this was the first time I channeled magic into my hands without blasting something to pieces. I looked at my still wrapped hands, the magic hadn’t burned the bandages this time. I place one of my hands in Draal’s palm. He unwrapped it, looking over it for injury before nodding and unwrapping my other hand. “If you use your magic properly, you won’t injure yourself. Keep practicing channeling into the lance as we spar. Don’t overdo it though. Vendel will have my head if you get injured.”
I laughed and nodded, stretching my palms. I smirked, hooking his horn with the blade, and surging magic through it, enough to enable me to flip Draal over onto his back again. I grinned leaning over his shocked face. “That’s for your surprise attack yesterday.”
He barked a laugh before raising a hand quickly and jabbing my side with his finger, “Careful River, I still know your weakness.” He grinned up at me as I yelped before glaring at him.
“That’s just rude!” I growled out hugging my sides and quickly stepping out of reach.
Draal and I continued to taunt and tease each other as our sparring continued. Movements quickened and each blow increased in strength as we were both tossed around the forge, not hard enough to do anything more than bruising.
Blinky and Arrrgh watched on in shock. “Draal strange,” Arrrgh noted to Blinky, cheering whenever I was able to successfully channel my magic into an attack.
“Indeed, it almost seems as if… no, that can’t be right. Draal can’t stand ‘fleshbags’ he’d never…” Blinky remarked, his thought trailing off.
“Not human,” Arrrgh replied. “River more like us.”
“I know, it’s just hard to keep in mind considering she’s related by blood to Master Jim and he doesn’t have an ounce of magic without the Amulet of Daylight.” Blinky shakes his head, laughing when I launch Draal into a wall. “Well, if this how females are taught to ‘flirt’ in the human world, I pray for Master Jim’s life when a human female tries to court him.” He states, wincing as Draal catches the blade of my lance and throws me.
Landing next to Blinky, knocking the wind out of my lungs. I groaned closing my eyes trying to catch my breath. I could hear running when I didn’t make a move to get up right away.
“River!” Draal was next to me when I opened my eyes again, seeing his worried expression I give him a tired thumbs up. Draal let out a sigh of relief, letting me take my time.
Blinky and Arrrgh glanced at each other with knowing faces before huddling with Draal over me. “River tired.” Arrrgh smiled, seeing that I was fine.
“Perhaps it is time for a break?” Blinky suggested.
I began to wave him off then paused, “Jim will be here soon,” I groaned, slowly sitting up with Draal’s help.
Draal huffed seeing the bruises forming over my arms, blisters covering my palms. “And it looks like I’ll be taking you to Vendel after all.”
I smiled up at him and pat his cheek. “I’m sure you’ll keep your head. These are standard fleshy training injuries.” I said, shaking my bruised arms out, wincing at the movement. “Maybe a little more than standard.” I sighed.
Blinky cleared his throat, nodding to Draal and I. “Yes well, you go get healed up, Lady River. Arrrgh and I will be setting up for Master Jim’s training now. I’ve learned quite a lot from your performance and it will do good being incorporated in the Trollhunter’s training.”
Draal slid an arm around me so I was sitting on his forearm, similar to how he carried me last night. I smiled and waved to Blinky and Arrrgh as he walked out of the forge and straight to Vendel’s study. “Vendel.” He greets when we see the old goat.
Vendel looked up from his scroll, dropping it when he sees us. “What in Merlin’s name happened?” He rushed over to me, seeing my arms were almost completely bruised over.
“Training, I can keep up just fine in strength, but I still get injured pretty easily,” I told him, surprised that his worry was showing.
“Set her on the table and step out Draal, I need to examine the extent of the injuries.” Vendel directed, turning to file through different scrolls he had stored.
Draal sat me on the table, nudging my shoulder, he frowned at how beat up I had gotten. “I got carried away with your training, I forget you're not made of stone.” He apologized.
Smiling up at him I shook my head. “So, the training got intense, at least we know I can keep up with a troll during a fight!”
He smiled at my logic and nodded, “Try to behave,” he remarked before stepping out.
Vendel unfurled a scroll next to me, he quickly checked for more injuries before nodding to the scroll, “Alright, I want you to read this out loud and focus on the bruising of your arms.” He explained.
I looked over the parchment carefully, reciting the Trollish words slowly, repeating them as I looked at my arms, trying to focus. I felt a strange warmth extend from my chest down along my arms, then it spread through my torso and legs. I continued to repeat the incantation, realizing this was a spell, my eyes glazed over, glowing a faint blue as my palms did the same, the bruises began to shrink until they had faded completely.
Vendel watched, smiling as the glow faded from my eyes. “Hm, looks like the healing incantation worked.” He examined my arms again, nodding to himself. “Though, maybe we should work on some armor that will allow you to train to your limits without having to heal yourself after every session.”
I grinned up at him asking “I’m getting an upgrade?”
He chuckled, “You’ll be forging an ‘upgrade,’ take your time thinking it over though, it needs to be functional. Now, why don’t you go see Draal, I can hear him pacing.” Vendel shooed me out of his study with a small smile.
I smiled seeing that Draal was in fact, pacing outside of Vendel’s study. Leaning against the wall, I watched him for a minute before snickering. “Worried?” I asked him.
Draal stumbled at my question, head snapping towards the sound of my voice. Letting out a snort he looked over my arms, tilting his head noticing the bruises were gone. “Vendel healed you?” He asked, prodding at my arms.
“Nope!” I stated, letting him continue, “He taught me a healing incantation.” I explained at his confused glance.
Smirking, he ruffled the top of my head. “Something tells me at this rate, you’ll be using that spell often.”
I whacked his hand from my head, returning his smirk, “Careful Draal, or I might have to use it on you.” I teased, walking past him. He laughed falling in step with me, heading out of Trollmarket and into the canal. “How about we get something to eat, my treat?” I asked him.
He glanced at me as we walked further into town, staying hidden. “Where could we get food?”
I grinned up at him, heading to the park, “The taco truck of course!” I replied, happy that he wasn’t rejecting the offer. I paused in an alley, spotting the truck. “I’ll be right back.” I quickly ran to the truck, ordering a box of tacos. I could feel Draal’s stare on my back during the exchange. Once I had the box in hand, I took off back to the alley, grinning. “Let’s find somewhere to eat.”
Draal smirked picking me up. “I know somewhere fleshbags typically ignore.” He stated, climbing to the roof and heading over several buildings until we reached a warehouse with a large billboard on the roof. Draal settled us behind the billboard, facing the woods. “How’s this?” He asked, surveying the area for a moment, relaxing slightly when there was no sign of Bular.
I smiled jumping out of his hold and sitting on the ledge, patting next to me for him to sit. Once Draal was settled I took two tacos from the box then handed the box with six remaining tacos over to him. “Ever tried tacos?” I asked, taking a bite of one.
Draal sniffed the box, observing how I ate one before picking a taco from the box and tossing it in his mouth. “No,” he answered, humming in approval, “these are good!”
I smiled, glad he liked them. “That’s good if you ever want them, let me know and I can bring them, or we can eat out!” I grin finishing off my first taco.
Draal nods, happily eating the rest of the tacos along with the box.
Finishing off my food, I leaned back against the billboard, looking over the woods. “Today was a lot of fun, bruises and all.”
Draal let out a deep chuckle, “You fight like a Troll, Blinkous and Arrrgh looked terrified when you were able to throw me.”
I laughed at the memory, “You were shocked too!” I defended, “Aren’t you supposed to know what I’m capable of as my trainer?” I teased.
Draal snorted, “I haven’t trained a sorceress for combat before, so it seems we’ll continue running into surprises.” He tilted his head, thinking.
I smile content with the quiet, enjoying Draal’s company.
“River?” He spoke up after a few minutes. I hummed in acknowledgment for him to continue. “Why do you think a troll wouldn’t try courting you ‘anytime soon?’” He asked, referring to our earlier conversation.
“Well,” I began, sitting up a bit, “I feel if one tried, they’d be very intimidated by you and Vendel. After all, I’m training under both of you, and after today I can tell you’re both pretty protective.” I smiled up at him.
He hummed at my answer, thinking for a moment. “It sounds as if you don’t think my asking you is an option then.”
My smile turned to confusion, thinking he was teasing me. I held my breath slightly, waiting for a smirk or chuckle, but neither came. “Well, you’re not ‘not’ an option.” I tried to explain, realizing he was being serious.
“That doesn’t make sense.” He frowned, confused by my wording.
I shook my head, trying to collect my thoughts. “It’s just, I assumed your reaction to my ‘mistake’ last night was negative, and the way you explained it felt like it was unwelcomed.” I shrugged slightly.
Draal arched a brow at my response, “I knew you didn’t know what you were doing. You didn’t know the significance… but it was not unwelcome.”
My face began to overheat, and I knew I was turning red. “Then you’re open to courting me?” I asked, trying to calm the redness in my face.
Draal leaned down to be level with my face, studying the color change before leaning forward and nuzzling his nose under my jaw, pulling back, smirking slightly as my face turned a deep scarlet. “Does that answer your question?” He asked, and I could only nod, eyes wide. “I will wait for an answer, after all, the fight may change things.” He stated, frowning when mentioning the fight and the tension that may arise due to it.
“Okay… um, could you explain why you court that way?” I asked, trying to distract him.
“It’s how we scent. Your scent will mix with mine and it will let other trolls know you’re being courted, the same would happen to my scent. That’s why I was distracted today; your scent wouldn’t leave.” He explained.
“So, if I walked into Trollmarket now I might be met with Trolls flinging themselves out of my path in fear of enraging you?” I asked teasing.
Draal growled, all teasing gone from his voice, “If you accept, they had better. Though exceptions are made for family and family-like relations.”
I blink, stunned at the tone. “So scenting is marking, and you don’t like sharing.”
“Culturally, if a troll is trying to get close to you while you’re courting another, they are competing to court you.” He explained, irritated at the thought.
I laughed patting his forearm, “Trust me Draal, you would have nothing to worry about.”
Draal smirked down at my response, “Let’s get you home, you have to attend the fleshbag study dungeon tomorrow.” He stood, lifting me to sit on his forearm as he climbed down from the billboard.
Leaning back against his chest, I kept asking questions about courting as he headed to my house. “So, if my answer is yes, do I have to do something specific?”
“Usually the courting gesture is returned.” He explained, nuzzling his nose under my jaw again. “Just like that.”
“Okay, and just so I don’t do something stupid or insulting, is there a way to deny the courting?” I asked worriedly. If I found a way to court Draal on accident, I could very well find a way to tell him to fuck off on accident too.
He winced slightly, “You can say it outright, or deny the gesture by pushing me away.”
I nod, then frown, “What if it tickles and I whack you as a reaction?” I asked, knowing it was a real possibility.
He laughed poking my side for good measure as he responded. “I will keep that in mind if you do hit me. If it happens though, I assume you’ll be screeching too much to let me know right away.”
I puffed my cheeks out, crossing my arms over my chest, “says the one who kept tickling me till I couldn’t breathe!”
He grinned, setting me down as we reached the back door of my house, “You can’t blame me, I didn’t know it could get that severe,” he teased, glancing over the house before scenting me again. “Goodnight River.”
I smiled up at him, face becoming less red the more he scents. “Good night Draal.” I lay my hand over his cheek, wanting to return the gesture, but waiting as he had asked. “Get home safe!” I called after him as he left.
Running inside, I covered my face, trying to calm the raging blush. I took a deep breath before heading up to bed, smiling like an idiot as I fell asleep.

In Loving Memory
“Just a little further,” Lance says. “We’re almost there. At least, according to Hunk’s geiger counter thing.”
Keith is too busy trying to stay upright to respond with words as he drags his feet across the jungle floor. Sweat drips from the bangs plastered to his forehead, stinging as it falls into his eyes. He’s exhausted. The nausea that’s been building since they got to this damn planet is reaching a point where it might make good on its threat soon.
Lance eyes him with concern. “Do you want to take another break?”
“No,” Keith says. “Let’s just hurry up and get this over with.”
The Xanorian jungle is creepy as hell. It’s far too quiet, especially considering all the movement in his peripheral vision. Vines creep and slither, ready to ensnare. Tree branches sway without wind; their cloud-shaped clusters of leaves should rustle but don’t. Flowering plants turn to face them, tracking their movements with invisible eyes as they get deeper and deeper in.
And yet Lance seems to think the place is perfectly lovely. It’s so calm and peaceful, he says. The plants are so pretty, he says. Nothing’s watching us, he says.
So either Keith is seeing things that aren’t there, or Lance is just oblivious. Really, it wouldn’t be the first time for either of those options, but given his climbing fever, Keith is willing to admit it’s probably the former.
Keith keeps his eyes on the ground, focused on keeping one foot in front of the other. Left. Right. Left. Right. Left…
“Hey, look,” Lance says, pointing through the trees. “There’s a clearing up ahead. That’s gotta be where the ygdranite is.”
“Mm,” Keith says, not looking up. He’ll take Lance’s word for it.
They get a little closer, and Keith almost runs smack into Lance when he comes to an abrupt halt.
Lance looks ahead, then down at the pinging geiger counter, then back ahead. “Uhhh, okay, so… we found the Xanorians…”
Keith steps out from behind Lance to get a better look. Ahead of them, the trees open up, replaced by rows and rows of glass coffins erected as far as the eye can see. A shudder rockets down Keith’s spine.
“Apparently, it's this way,” Lance says with a grimace, leading them forward into the graveyard.
The Xanorian corpses all around them are humanoid, each with dark hair and pale skin. They all look the same. Exactly the same. This place, it's almost like…
 Keith pauses, gags.
Lance puts a hand on Keith’s shoulder. “Seriously, man. We can take a break,” he says. “The ygdranite can wait a few doboshes.”
“I just want to get out of here,” Keith says, past the point of trying to put up a front. Lance might not know exactly why this place is so horrifying—Keith hasn’t told anyone about the clone facility beyond its existence—but he’s well aware Keith has been on edge since they set foot on the soil.
“Fair enough,” Lance says. “Just let me know if you need to stop.”
They walk past row after row until a towering stone statue comes into view, a scaled up version of the bodies in the coffins. The geiger counter leads them right to the base of the statue.
“Coran said the stuff would be pink, right?” Lance asks.
“Yeah.” Keith’s head spins as he looks around them. The only pink around is a magenta stone embedded in the crown atop the statue’s head, glittering from the centre spoke.
“So I guess we’re, like, grave robbers now?” Lance says.
“Not like they’re getting much use out of it,” Keith says.
“True.” Lance looks up and down the statue. “I’m guessing you’re not feeling up to pulling your super ninja moves to go get that crown.”
Keith frowns. “My what?”
“Don’t worry about it,” Lance says. “I got this.”
Keith takes a seat and rests his back against the base of the colossal statue while Lance circles around, muttering to himself as he surveys it from different angles. Keith’s teeth chatter. He’s freezing. He hugs his knees in against his chest in a feeble attempt to warm himself, and closes his eyes.
He doesn't fall asleep, but he must get halfway there because he startles out of something when Lance calls his name. His eyes snap open, and the sight of the rows of glass coffins hits him all over again. He struggles to fight back a wave of nausea.
“We’re good to go,” Lance says, waving the glittering, baseball sized gemstone in his face. He frowns as he takes a closer look at Keith. “You really don’t look good, man. We can see if someone can come get us. They might be able to land a bit closer than we did.”
Keith shakes his head. “They have other things to focus on. I’ll be fine.”
Lance purses his lips. “If you’re sure. Just let me know if you need to stop to rest.”
He helps Keith to his feet, and they head back the way they came, back through the rows of preserved corpses.
Lance prattles on about something or another—probably recounting how he managed to obtain the gemstone—but Keith’s too exhausted and distracted by their surroundings to actually focus on what he’s saying.
It’s slow going, and by the time they’re back in the thick of the jungle, Keith is barely standing. Lance ducks under Keith's arm to bear some of his weight. It helps, but only for so long.
“Lance,” Keith slurs, vision blurring past the point of recognition. “Think I… need a break…”
Lance starts to say something in return, but Keith passes out before he can make sense of the words.
...
“Hello, Keith.”
Glass pods flicker and light up all around him. They cradle cold bodies, all wearing Shiro’s face. Unscarred, dark-haired, two-armed. They’re younger, softer than the Shiro standing before him, the one awaiting Keith’s arrival with a predatory gleam in violet-infested eyes.
Keith’s heart hammers in his chest; he’s been afraid of this moment for two years. Still, he tries to keep his voice steady. “Shiro, it’s gonna be okay.”
“Yes. I know.” Shiro’s voice is wrong, all wrong, sucked dry of any semblance of warmth or kindness.
“We just have to get back to the Castle.”
“We. Are not going. Anywhere !” Shiro snarls, charging forward. Keith barely has time to throw his shield up before he’s slammed into the wall, air knocked from his lungs.
Shiro doesn’t let up. There’s no holding back; he's aiming to kill. His attacks are relentless, lethal strikes that leave rubble in the wake of his fist.
Keith tries to get away, but Shiro comes after him. His Galra arm shifts and forms a pink plasma blade, extending his range. There’s no escaping. Keith has no choice but to fight back.
“I’m not leaving here without you,” Keith vows.
Shiro’s lips twist into something vicious. “Actually,” he says, “neither of us are leaving.”
Something overhead activates, and violet lights turn fuchsia. Shiro falls to his knees, crying out in pain as his Galra arm comes alive. It tears its way up his arm, metal and cracks of pink light devouring the flesh of his shoulder. The new monstrosity forms a laser cannon that obliterates everything in its range, breaking the facility to pieces. Massive chunks of the structure fall around them.
“Keith?” A panicked voice comes from somewhere behind him—Shiro’s voice, muffled by glass. “Keith!” an identical voice says, this time on his left. “Keith, please!” Another joins on his right. “Keith!” And another, and another. Hundreds of voices all around him converge in a desperate chorus.
Keith takes his eyes off the fight for a half-second to glance at one of the pods. The Shiro inside has his hands pressed to the glass, eyes wide. He’s alive, and terrified.
“Keith, please, help!”
A laser blast fires, and on instinct, Keith dives out of the way. The blast hits the pods he was standing in front of instead. The clones inside scream as they’re incinerated.
“No!” Keith cries out. “Please, stop this,” he begs, but his words have no effect. Shiro raises his arm again.
Another blast. More screams. The Shiros around him are crying, pleading, they don’t want to die, but there’s nothing Keith can do. He can’t protect them.
“Keith! Keith!”
Keith just barely manages to avoid the blasts head on. Shiros are killed, left, right, and centre, in his stead. Some are hit directly, some crash to the planet below as the structures supporting them are destroyed. Eventually, every single pod is decimated.  “I’m sorry,” Keith gasps. “I’m so sorry.”
Shiro switches weapons, drawing his plasma blade once again. He circles in and lunges. Keith can barely move, but a burst of adrenaline at the very last second gives him enough strength to reach for his blade and parry.
“Shiro, please,” Keith begs. He’s in there. He has to be. “You’re my brother. I love you.”
Shiro’s eyes widen, and he falters for a fraction of a second, but it’s not enough. He pushes down harder, and Keith’s vision goes white as the plasma blade sears his cheek. The scent of burning flesh fills his nostrils, and the pain only gets worse. The blade’s about to melt straight through his face.
It’s hard to focus—everything hurts so much— but he manages to summon the black bayard, forging a sword strong enough to cut through even the strongest of metals. Keith takes a desperate swing. It slices through metal—
—and flesh, and bone. Shiro lets out an agonized scream as blood gushes from where Keith has severed his arm. More pours out from between his ribs, where the sword’s trajectory continued deep into his side.
“Shiro!” Keith scrambles to his knees and presses his hands to Shiro’s gaping wounds in a futile attempt to stem the bleeding. That—that wasn’t supposed to—
“Keith,” Shiro whispers, resting his remaining hand over Keith’s. “You know that won’t do anything. You’ve already killed me.”
“No, just—just hold on—”
Shiro smiles. It’s a touch bitter, mostly sad. “I thought you loved me. But I guess when it comes down to it, you always put yourself first.”
“No, no, Shiro, I— ”
“How many times are you going to let me die?” Shiro asks.
“I-I’ll get you out of here somehow. I’ll find a way to save you, I just—”
“Goodbye, Keith.”
“No, I can’t— Please, don’t leave me—”
The floor gives way. Keith reaches for Shiro, but his blood-slick hand slips out of his grasp.
“No!”
Shiro plummets toward the planet below. Keith dives after him, but he can’t catch up. Everything goes white as they enter the atmosphere and burn, and burn, and burn…
 ...
Keith wakes with a strangled cry. He’s choking on air—too much, not enough.
He can’t—can’t breathe. He doesn’t know if he’s just gasping for air or full out sobbing, but the animal sounds tearing their way from his throat refuse to be suppressed.
His skin is on fire; he’s being burned alive. The scar running from his jaw toward his eye throbs with remembered pain, and he claws at the wound with desperate, shaking hands.
Something in the distance calls him—no, some one . A familiar voice guides him back with strings of soft words: Shh, Keith. You’re okay, you’re okay.
Gentle hands pry his fingers away from his face— let’s not make that worse —then slide beneath his shoulder blades to pull him up to sit. Dizziness rushes him, but the hands don’t let him fall. One hand holds his upper arm at the junction where pauldron meets rerebrace; the other snakes around his shoulders.
They stay there, just like that, until Keith comes down from his panic enough to form words. “L-Lance?” he rasps, between ragged breaths.
“Hey,” Lance says, tone gentle.
“Shiro,” Keith gasps. “Shiro, he’s… I-I couldn’t…”
“Shiro’s fine,” Lance soothes. “You were having a fever dream, but you’re awake now. Everything’s okay.”
“Just a… just a dream,” Keith says, shakily.
“Yeah,” Lance says. “Is your face okay? You were...” He makes a vague scratching gesture at his own face. “Does it hurt?”
“It’s—it’s fine now,” Keith whispers. “It just comes back sometimes when I… have dreams about…” He shudders, wrapping his arms around himself. Tears lick his cheeks, his scar.
Lance holds him tighter. “I’m sorry. You don’t have to tell me about it if you don’t want to. But if you do, I’m here to listen.”
“...Thanks,” Keith utters, voice hoarse.
When it becomes apparent Keith doesn’t have anything further to say—he appreciates the offer, but reliving it is the last thing he wants to do right now—Lance asks, “Hey, do you… want to talk to Shiro?”
Just his name sends a surge of fear through Keith’s veins, but that wasn’t real. It was just a dream. Keith shakes his head. “I-I’m fine.”
Lance’s face is a gentle mix of disbelief and pity before he rearranges it into a smile. “Maybe. But it might be nice to check in with him anyway, yeah?”
Keith grits his teeth. He can’t bother Shiro, not with this . Shiro’s busy, and Keith’s not a little kid anymore. “It was just a… just a dream.” A dream rooted in a very real memory, one branded into his cheek. A memory of a fight that could have ended very differently.
A surge of nausea hits Keith hard. He pushes Lance’s arm away from his shoulders as he leans over and retches.
Lance holds Keith steady as he vomits. The act leaves Keith panting for breath and shaking all over again, but Lance doesn’t let him collapse. He helps Keith back to a seated position, letting him lean against him, and runs a steady hand over his back.
It’s unusual, having someone here with Keith like this, comforting him when he feels downright awful. There’s only one person who had ever done anything like this for him before, back when he’d gotten sick at the Garrison. “Shiro,” Keith whispers.
“I’m gonna call him,” Lance says.
Keith snaps his head up. “N-no, don’t. He has more important things to worry about.”
“More important than you? I don’t think so,” Lance says.
“I—I’m fine. I’m fine .”
Lance tries a different tack. “I’ll just call to let him know where we’re at, alright? Update him on the mission.”
“...Okay,” Keith relents.
Lance flashes him a smile and opens up his wrist console. Soon enough, Shiro’s face appears on the screen. “Lance? What’s going on?”
There’s no trace of malice or pain or despair in Shiro’s voice. There’s no purple in his warm, grey eyes, no Galra arm crawling up his shoulder. He’s alive. Breathing. He’s okay, just like Lance had promised.
Keith lets out a choked sob in relief.
Shiro’s brows furrow in concern. “Keith?” Shiro’s eyes widen as Lance tilts his wrist to fit Keith in the frame. “Keith! What’s wrong?”
“You’re… you’re safe,” Keith breathes, forgetting to answer. Shiro’s safe, in both senses of the word. “I’m so glad you’re okay.”
“Keith’s sick,” Lance explains. “He’s got a pretty high fever.”
“Keith, I...” Shiro pauses to shift the concern in his face to something gentler. “Yeah, I’m safe. You always make sure of that.”
“We got the ygdra-whatever,” Lance says, holding up the pink stone for Shiro to see. “Is anyone available to come get us?”
“I’m on my way,” Shiro says.
Keith shakes his head. “No, I’m—I’m okay. You don’t have to.”
“But I can, and I want to,” Shiro says, calmly.
“But…”
Lance turns to Keith. “Don’t you want to get out of here?”
“I… I don’t want to be a burden,” Keith says, quietly. Shiro’s gone out of his way to help him more than anyone should ever have to.
“You will never be a burden, Keith,” Shiro says, with enough conviction it’s impossible not to believe him. The way he says it is so typical of him, so Shiro , that it makes Keith’s heart swell with relief all over again. “Hang in there. I’ll be there soon, alright?”
“Thanks, Shiro,” Lance says. “See you in a bit.”
The video screen closes. Lance gives Keith a gentle nudge and a soft smile. “See? Shiro’s fine.”
“Yeah,” Keith says, quietly. He’s no less sick, but he does feel better. He presses his cheek to Lance’s shoulder. “Thanks, Lance.”
“Just rest up,” Lance says, bringing his head to rest against Keith’s crown. “I got you.”
“I know,” Keith murmurs, and lets himself fall back asleep.

MUN QUESTIONS. Q1 :   if  you  could  write  your  character  your  way  in  their  own  movie ,   what  would  it  be  called ,  what  style  would  it  be  filmed  in ,  and  what  would  it  be  about ? A1 : honestly??? i think i would keep it the way it is, BUT i would like to have seen some more canonical information about galo’s family. as of right now, we know that kray saved him after his family was attacked by the burnish. if i were to direct a new movie about galo, i would focus it mainly on his family. Q2 : what  would  their  soundtrack / score  sound  like ? A2 : i think it would be a mix of melancholic music as well as more upbeat stuff. on my blog’s main page there are links in the sidebar to both a soundtrack playlist as well as a pop music playlist; i definitely think its fair that a variety of genres would suit him and his experiences. Q3 : why  did  you  start  writing  this  character ? A3 : when i first watched promare, i was instantly drawn to this buffoon himbo. i’ve always had a thing for upbeat, energetic characters who are also quite caring and a bit dumb (which yes galo is very smart but he has his moments). while their personalities differ greatly (despite having the same personality type), he reminds me a lot of lance from vld, who i absolutely adore as well (and i also rp him too oops) Q4 : what  first  attracted  you  to  this  character ? A4 : again, probably his personality. while i’m not as energetic and upbeat as galo and i have a very, very different personality type than him, i feel like i definitely do understand him. i understand why he feels he needs to be overly confident, and i also have my moments where i just need to storm off and be alone. god i could write paragraphs and paragraphs about why i like galo but i wanna keep it short and sweet and just stick with those two points, which i consider to be the biggest points. Q5 : describe  the  biggest  thing  you  dislike  about  your  muse. A5 : look, i know i said i liked confidence, but something about galo that annoys me is the fact that he can often seem too confident. like yeah he seemed pretty humble in that pizza scene at the beginning of the movie, but i can’t help but feel a twinge of annoyance towards people who put themselves right into the center of attention and be all like “yeah i know i’m great.” like my boy i love you but do u have to announce urself every time u appear on the scene??? and pls stop being so reckless u honestly might die too soon one of these days we want u to be around for us to enjoy u Q6 : what  do  you  have  in  common  with  your  muse ? A6 : i definitely feel like we both have our moments where we just need some peace and quiet. of course, everyone needs this, but when galo talked about running off when he was pissed reminded me of me; i tend to go and cool off and vent to myself if i’m annoyed about something. we’re both naturally people-oriented and love to be around others, even though galo likes being the center of attention a little bit more than myself. Q7 : how  does  your  muse  feel  about  you ? A7 : in the sense that if galo were real, i honestly think we would get along fairly well. we have different ways of dealing with things, but we have similar habits and personality traits. however when it comes to rp blogs, while i do like to headcanon things about my muses that mirror my own opinions and beliefs, i do consider the mun/muse relationship fairly symbiotic. we as real people can learn so much from fictional characters and in how we play them, and of course, the mun will determine some things about the muse that will deter from canon. Q8 : what  characters  does  your  muse  have  interesting  interactions  with ? A8 : i just started this blog and have had very minimal interactions, so it’s hard to say ! i’d say that an interaction with a kray muse would be the most interesting. part of me wants galo to forgive kray and to have a better relationship with him post-movie canon, but there’s still so much about galo and kray’s relationship pre-movie as well; what was their relationship like? was kray like a father to galo? how can i describe the psychological mindset that galo had after finding out that kray betrayed him? there’s so much about these two that i really want to discover and look at, while of course providing my own insight (cuz that’s what muns do, right?). Q9 : what  gives  you  inspiration  to  write  your  muse ? A9 : i like to study galo’s actions in the movie, and try to find the underlying cause of the actions he takes. however, when it comes to headcanons, i will often think of a scene or an idea in my head and then internally apply it to galo and see if it works. this is usually what kindles my writing fire: the thoughts that often rush through my head. Q10 : how  long  did  this  take  you  to  complete ? A10 : like two whole days lmao im so slow

Dear Friend, 9/9 (at least for now)
My Writing Fandom: Arrow Characters: Laurel Lance, Oliver Queen, Quentin Lance, Felicity Smoak, Thea Queen, Ray Palmer Pairing: Laurel Lance/Oliver Queen Summary: When Felicity decides to get serious about Ray, she knows it won’t be a good idea for Oliver to be hanging around. So she turns to the world of online dating to keep him distracted. Unknown to the both of them, over the summer Joanna had set Laurel up with an online dating account in the hopes that her friend could move on from past failed relationships. There’s only one way this can end. Notes: So ultimately I have decided to go with the shorter ending. I'm sorry if that disappoints some people, and I'm not opposed to picking up this idea for some League-related shenanigans at some point down the line as some have suggested, but as it stands I'm just not going to have the time to devote to drafting a whole new section just yet, and I don't want to leave people hanging. I've just accepted an internship for the summer that starts next week as well as working on two summer courses, so I know it would be taking too much on. I already have enough trouble updating my other WIPs regularly as it is. So I hope you enjoy the resolution to this silly online dating idea I had, and thanks so much for reading it! *Can also be read on my AO3*
Quentin shouldn’t have been surprised Laurel would be the one sent to pay him a visit.
“You know this is a frame job,” she said, pacing back and forth. She was still in a dress from that wedding she’d been at, her clutch resting on his desk. “And just like Pike did all those years ago, you are misinforming the public to suit an agenda.”
“Alright, the difference between then and now is that then we had ready proof this Dark Archer was a different guy,” he pointed out. “These arrows turning up are the exact same as our vigilante friend.”
“Sarcastic as you’re being, he is your friend. Sara’s death doesn’t change that. Alright? You can be mad at me for asking him not to tell you, but you know him suddenly switching back to killing makes no sense.” Laurel crossed her arms, as best as she could while wearing a cast over one, and added, “And why would the rest of us let him?”
“Good question. I should probably find that out.”
Using her distance to his advantage, he snagged the clutch off his desk.
“Hey!” She took a step forward but made no move to restrain or strike at him. Some things were still off limits between them, it seemed.
Quentin ignored her protest and left his office, heading up the stairs to the labs. He walked up to the first occupied desk he saw and slapped the cell down in front of the occupant.
“My daughter’s phone. I gotta know who she’s been in contact with, any suspicious activity.”
That got him a bewildered look. “From the ADA?”
“Just do it. Off the books.”
To his credit, the CSU Tech got to work, typing away while Quentin paced.
After a few minutes, he spoke. “She’s logged a lot of activity on a dating app.”
Quentin blinked. “Dating app?”
“Yeah. One of those anonymous ones. She’s been trading a lot of messages with one profile. Handle is KingOfSurvival.”
An anonymous app. Simple, but it made sense.
“Alright, good work.” He took the phone and clutch back down to his office where Laurel was waiting, her eyes only narrowing as he set the phone down on the desk between them.
“You went through my phone?”
“This how you’re communicating?”
“It’s how most people communicate, isn’t it?”
“You know what I mean. The Arrow.” He tapped the phone again. “You’ve been using an anonymous app to get in touch.”
Laurel made a face, and not the guilty kind. “What? No.”
“Then who’s this King of Survival?”
“I can’t believe you.” She snatched the phone off the table. “You had no right to go through my messages.”
“Come on, Laurel. You’re not gonna tell me you’ve been using this thing to date.”
“I was — it’s none of your business. But it was not about the Arrow,” she insisted with a glare.
“Then why the app? Who’ve you been talking to? Who is this guy?”
“What has you so interested?” She fired back. “I thought we weren’t close anymore?”
“Damnit, Laurel! I- I care about you, you have to know that.” Even as he said it, he knew he’d done little to assure her of that over the years, and a part of him deflated. Angry as he had been that she had held onto the truth about Sara, was it worth her not knowing how he felt?
He glanced back down at the phone again and frowned. “And I definitely care if you’re on one of these apps talking to complete strangers. You have any idea how dangerous these things are?”
“Dad—”
“Could be anybody on the other end,” he carried right on. “A scammer, a violent criminal—”
“It’s Oliver!” She burst out, then continued on a sharp laugh, “Okay? Because it always is! I’m always just so stupid.”
Quentin wondered if he’d somehow missed a part of their conversation. “What are you talking about?”
“I’m talking about how Joanna set me up with that app so I could meet people and try to get over my seriously bad choices, except Oliver was also on the same app and of all the people in Starling City with which I could have connected with, I ended up talking to him,” his daughter said. “And I’m talking about how he invited me to be his date to, as it turns out, John and Lyla’s wedding, but I turned him down because I still didn’t think I was ready to get over my ex — who is also Oliver — and now he knows everything.”
Quentin wasn’t the Captain for nothing, but it was taking everything he had to make sense of this. “You got an app to try dating strangers, but instead of a stranger you met Queen on here instead?”
She gave a helpless shrug. “Pretty much.”
“Well- well what was he doing on here?”
“Apparently Felicity made him join. I don’t know,” she groaned, dropping into his chair. “It wasn’t like we were actually dating. Just talking and giving advice...about me. I was talking him through how to deal with me. Great,” she muttered through clenched teeth. “Maybe I should thank you for saving me from the most mortifying night of my life.”
Right, the case. The thing they should be talking about. The thing Laurel was so sure he was wrong about — because she knew, didn’t she?
Quentin felt a strange calm wash over him as everything was made clear.
“He’s the Arrow, isn’t he? Queen.”
She looked up, eyes wide. “Why would you think—”
“Because it’s always him.”
It was always Laurel, actually. She should have been all the evidence he ever needed.
His daughter shook her head. “I didn’t mean that.”
“Yeah, you did.” And if she did, that meant something, too. For however much she loved that idiot, she’d never lie for him about this.
Quentin braced his hands on the desk and leaned forward. “Laurel, give me the proof he’s not the one out there killing these people. Show me I’m wrong.”
Laurel held his gaze for a long moment. Watching him, judging him maybe. At last, she said, “He was at John and Lyla’s wedding tonight. Plenty of witnesses. He couldn’t have done this, whether he’s the Arrow or not.”
“And he is, so there’s more going on here,” Quentin finished. “Never can be the simple answers.”
“I know that there are people dead, but we need time. He already has a good idea of who’s doing this and why. It’s the League.”
“Sara’s League?”
Laurel nodded. “I should have told you everything. I’m sorry, daddy.” Her eyes looked a little wet, but she wasn’t crying. Still, Quentin felt an ache in his chest that had little to do with his health.
He walked around the desk. “Whatever he’s planning to do, it’s gonna need to be quick. We can’t have this going on.” Then he placed a hand on her shoulder. “Are you okay? This app stuff, Queen, you seem a little rattled.”
“I’ll be fine,” she promised. “We have things to do.”
“Yeah, but after?”
An officer knocked and then stuck his head in the doorway. “Captain, Ray Palmer is here saying he has evidence of the Arrow’s identity. He wants to press charges against Oliver Queen.”
Laurel’s head hung down as she sighed, and Quentin grimaced. “You wanna take this one?”
“Yeah, put him in interrogation. Do not give a statement to the press.” His daughter marched to the door, ready yet again to defend Oliver Queen’s lack of innocence.
Quentin didn’t know what to make of half of tonight’s revelations — the online dating thing most of all — but he sure hoped Queen appreciated just how much she was willing to do for him.
—-
In the end, it was Ray Palmer’s tech that saved them.
Laurel had to stay on the sidelines thanks to her injury as Oliver walked Ray through fighting a metahuman that had popped up in the middle of all this. It was better, really, that she was out of the way. She wasn’t sure she’d be able to handle fighting with him out in the field at the moment, even if he was just a voice in the ear.
Ray returned to their base after flying Deathbolt to Central City. He was going someplace the others called a pipeline, which Laurel had some misgivings about, but for now it had to be low on the priority list.
Felicity greeted her boyfriend with a congratulatory kiss for his first official try at being a vigilante. “You were great.”
“Well, thanks to Oliver, I was. I’m glad I didn’t end up getting my day in court after all.”
“The public is still looking for you to catch the Arrow,” Oliver reminded him.
“I know. But I’m prepared to go to the mayor myself and explain I was mistaken. The Arrow is not our enemy.”
“But someone pretending to be him is,” Laurel said, mostly to herself, but the others all turned. Oliver’s look seemed particularly intense. Laurel stepped forward. “We need proof of that to take to the mayor, not just our word.” Ray couldn’t rely on a preexisting relationship like she could with her father. And just like he’d used the proof of her chat conversations with Oliver, they needed something concrete as well.
“What kind of proof are you talking about, Laurel?” Oliver asked.
She kept her eyes on Ray. “What about your facial recognition software?”
“I thought you said it wouldn’t stand up in court?”
Laurel waved a hand. “I said that to keep Oliver out of jail.” At Oliver’s look in her direction, she ducked her head slightly. “And we’re not talking about court, we’re talking about public opinion. So do you think you could pick up one of the fakes on it?”
“We would need it to match to someone actually on file,” Felicity informed her. “Considering the League recruits all kinds of people from all over the world—”
“They do have somebody,” Oliver interrupted. “Maseo Yamashiro. He worked with ARGUS in Hong Kong. The CIA would have him on file.”
“So my facial recognition software could pick him up,” Ray concluded. An excited smile lit his face. “Alright, I’ll do a sweep of the city right now! And stop him from murdering anyone, of course.”
“Don’t engage the League, Ray,” Oliver cautioned him. “Even with my help, it would be a near thing.”
Ray’s enthusiasm dipped only slightly, but soon he was putting his gear back on and leaving the base.
“God, I hope this works,” Laurel muttered under her breath. She felt Oliver’s hand brush her arm and jumped. He looked away and walked back over to the station where the connection with Ray was set up, in case he was needed. Laurel looked down.
A silence filled the base. As was common, Felicity broke it.
“Is everything okay? I mean, obviously, not everything is okay right now, but we have a plan for the major thing. I meant the earlier thing.”
“What earlier thing?” Laurel asked.
“Well, you kind of ran out of the reception, and then Oliver followed you,” Felicity explained. “And we’ve been pretty busy since, but nobody’s really said what that was about.”
She looked between the two of them, expectant. Oliver was devoting an intense amount of study to the tech on the table in front of him, and Laurel dropped her gaze to the floor.
“It was nothing, really.”
“Okay.” It was fairly obvious her friend didn’t believe her. “Just, things got weird after I brought up Oliver’s online dating, and if there’s a problem, I’d prefer—”
“There’s no problem,” said Oliver, tense. Laurel couldn’t look at him. She couldn’t look at anyone.
The door to the Verdant opened and Thea came down the steps. “Ollie, I’ve been texting you all night. Did you figure out if Laurel — oh.” She stopped and gave an awkward laugh. “Hey, Laurel, how’s, um, things?”
“Things? What things? What was he supposed to be figuring out?” Felicity was speaking in near rapid fire now. “Why does everyone know what we’re talking about except me?”
This was unbearable. “We were on the same dating app,” Laurel said, then pressed her lips together.
“You were both on the same app? Well, how did you know — oh no!” Felicity was gaping in horror. “I mean, not, no, you know, just — what are the odds of that? I guess not astronomical considering your similar lifestyles likely contributing to your profile answers and since the app takes proximity into account, and you two are, you know, close — proximity-wise. I- I did not intend for this to happen.”
“Felicity, I have a visual!”
“Who? What? Oh!” It took a couple panicked turns back and forth for Felicity to grab up the comm to respond to Ray. “I’ll run it against ARGUS and see if you caught Maseo.”
“Good.” Oliver still had his focus on the table. Thea was watching her with open sympathy. Pity, even.
Because of course this was more embarrassing for her than him. Oliver had had plenty of relationships or attempts at them since he left her after the Undertaking. What did Laurel have? Nothing, and as soon as she tried, guess who had turned up? And even then, she’d turned him down for him, which was undeniably pathetic. She couldn’t even be angry at him, because it was her choices and her feelings that had gotten her into this mess.
Abruptly, Laurel turned and made for the steps. “Let me know if you need anything.”
It wasn’t as though she could fight. And John and Lyla would be more useful once they returned from their honeymoon for making a deal with the CIA. She was just useless, as per usual.
She’d already lost her online friend by declining his invitation to meet up, yet somehow she felt even worse now knowing he was never real in the way she’d thought. All those confessions she’d made...how could things possibly go on between her and Oliver when he knew the truth?
—-
Oliver winced as the door shut behind Laurel. She wasn’t happy. Truthfully, he still didn’t know where he landed on the issue.
He had thought he was taking the steps to move on properly this time, even if it hadn’t worked out. But if anything, it turned out he’d gone in the complete opposite direction. And despite what she had claimed about him on the app, Laurel seemed more miserable after finding out the truth than anything. So where did that leave things?
“I’ve sent the match to the CIA to confirm, and Ray tipped off the mayor’s office that an attack was heading their way. Can we say power couple?” Felicity’s enthusiasm was only partially forced; it was clear she was trying to tough it out through the awkwardness.
When he didn’t acknowledge her question, she slumped a little. “Oliver, I’m sorry. I swear I had no idea Laurel was on that app.”
“And I had no idea you were,” Thea added to him. “What exactly just happened there? Because it sounded like—”
“I was the guy that Laurel was talking to,” he confirmed. “Not that either of us knew that.”
“He also asked her out, which she said no to,” Felicity said. “Something about another guy.”
“Who is you.” His sister didn’t even ask, just stated it as fact.
And sure, Laurel had never used his name, but… “Yeah.”
“Oh.” Felicity blinked. “Well that simplifies things, doesn’t it?”
He gestured to the stairs up which Laurel had disappeared. “That didn’t look simple to me.”
Thea scoffed. “Just look at it from her point of view for a second, will you? She’s gotta be, like, super embarrassed.”
“Mortified, even,” Felicity agreed with a nod.
“Look at it this way,” Thea continued before he could even open his mouth. “She’s just found out that she confessed her feelings for you to you, and that you asked out another woman at the same time.”
“But I was asking her out!”
Felicity pointed at him accusingly. “Ah, but you didn’t know it was her when you did.”
“But I should have,” he realized. Oliver took out his phone and scrolled back through the messages. Laurel was in every one of them; her heart and voice and soul could be felt in every line when he really looked.
Maybe that was why he’d fallen.
He was in love with Laurel, that much was clear. Whether he knew it was her or not, he always ended up in the same place. Home. And judging by what she had written, he just might still have a welcome there.
But he frowned as he looked back at the computers. “The League is still out there.”
“We’re still waiting on a response from the CIA,” Felicity said. “I can send you any updates.”
As much as the leader in him wanted to remain at the base, he could recognize that times like these were exactly what a team was for. “Thank you.” Oliver reached for his jacket and pulled it on, then paused before leaving. “Really, thank you.”
If Felicity hadn’t been so determined to get him trying to see other people, none of this would have come about. He would have never known.
She shrugged. “This was not at all the plan, but I should have figured it’d end up this way. Try not to screw it up this time.”
“Right, go, go, go!” Thea only barely held back from physically ushering him to the door.
Oliver got on his bike and made the relatively short drive, finding himself like so many times in front of Laurel’s apartment door. Was this really happening? A part of him was still reeling.
He knocked, and it was several long minutes before the door was pulled open. Laurel had already changed into what looked to be her sleepwear underneath a bathrobe, and her expression was less than enthusiastic.
“Please tell me you didn’t come here to check on me.”
“Not entirely. Can I come in?”
Wordlessly, she stepped back and let him through. Oliver stood in her front hall, looking over her dejected appearance. “Are you okay?”
Something not really a laugh bubbled out of her. “I don’t know. There are things that I wrote, things that I told you on that app, that I never meant for you to know. And now it’s just out there.”
He could understand that. Some of the day to day frustrations and even his sense of doubt about the mission, those weren’t things he would be all that comfortable with anyone knowing with context. Laurel was one of a very few in that regard. Most of the profile questions and answers she was already aware of by virtue of knowing him so long, but it did bring one of their earliest conversations to mind.
“You, um, you came out as—”
“As bisexual, yeah,” she confirmed in a low voice, her eyes anywhere but on him.
“If that’s how you feel, I’m not gonna judge you for that. None of us would.”
“But you’re probably wondering if this is something new or me trying to be Sara.”
Oliver said nothing. He couldn’t deny that a part of him wondered. That was probably wrong.
“If anything, her coming out made me more comfortable seeing myself that way. I mean, on some level I knew I’d thought of women as attractive before — but usually I was already dating or not really in the right place to be dating. I never really knew until last year how my father and everyone would react so…” she trailed off with a shrug.
“And then when Sara did come out you were worried people would think you were copying her,” Oliver finished for her.
Laurel nodded with a grimace. “People figure there can only be one per family. And I didn’t exactly see myself dating ever again, so there didn’t seem to be much point talking about it.”
Her good arm was folded over her chest and gripping her shoulder. She was making herself smaller, he realized.
He wasn’t sure exactly what his thoughts were on the matter. He had always assumed he knew everything there was to know about Laurel — but then again, this didn’t change who she was as a person anymore than the color she chose to dye her hair did.
“I’m sorry you felt you couldn’t talk about it, and that I found out without your permission. I think — no, I’m sure Sara would have been happy to know.”
Her lips curved up in a smile that still conveyed a sort of sadness. It was the eyes. Laurel could never hide how she was really feeling with them. “Thank you.”
But it wasn’t just her own feelings she was talking about not wanting him to know. Something that she’d written was standing out now in particular. “You weren’t sure if I hated you or not.” He remembered her venting to his online persona, that she wished her friend and ex would just make up his mind one way or another.
“I don’t really believe you hate me,” Laurel said immediately.
“But I haven’t made it easy to maintain that belief.” He was so stupid. In his mind, it was so clear how he felt about Laurel, but whenever he tried to put it into words or actions, it always went awry. Except on that app. There, anonymously, he had been clear.
Oliver took out his phone and glanced down at it. “I think we needed this.”
Laurel raised an eyebrow. “We needed to lie and keep more secrets from each other?”
“Neither of us was intentionally lying,” he pointed out. “But what I mean is that this, it gave us a clean slate. A way to talk to each other without everything else getting in the way for once. I didn’t know how badly I needed that.”
He’d missed it, too. Talking to Laurel, just being open and honest. Since getting the app, he’d been making strides to do that in person thanks to her own advice, and in a way it had worked the same in reverse.
“And now that everything is back in the way?” She glanced up at him. “You said you needed to move on, Oliver.”
“Because I thought that was best. I couldn’t even imagine you might still have feelings for me after everything,” he admitted. “And my attempt to move on was to ask you out, so I think that says something.”
“It says I did a really good job at hiding the worst parts of myself.” Laurel turned and retreated further into her apartment.
But Oliver couldn’t leave things there. He wasn’t giving up this time. “You were yourself. And you’re more than the worst parts of you, Laurel. If you believe there’s any good qualities to me, then you have to know that’s true.”
She stopped, and he walked up to her.
“I took a chance and opened myself up to a stranger. Not because she was a stranger, but because she felt familiar. She felt like a friend who cared for me and helped me to be better. And I couldn’t believe that I could have found that in another person that wasn’t you.” He allowed himself the smallest smile as Laurel watched him. “Maybe a part of me knew it from the start.”
Laurel’s eyes were shining as she said with a hitch to her breath, “I didn’t let myself even dream it was you.”
“I know.” He reached out slowly and cupped her face with both hands. “I’m sorry it took me so long to realize.”
He leaned in and brushed his lips over hers, warm and open. It was more like breathing each other in than kissing, relishing the little touches they’d denied themselves for so long.
Laurel’s eyes were closed as he nuzzled at her cheek, and her uninjured arm had wrapped around his back. “I’ve missed you. I missed talking to you the last few days.”
“You mean online?”
She nodded. “Mm-hm. I’m so glad I didn’t break some poor guy’s heart.”
Oliver muffled a laugh against her neck. “That makes two of us.”
His phone buzzed, breaking the moment. Oliver checked it and found a text from Felicity.
ARGUS said thanks for the tip and that they’re handling it. Going home with Ray.
“What’s up?”
His eyes left the screen. “Your idea to get ARGUS involved paid off. The Arrow’s off the hook.” The last bits of worry and tension eased as he said the words aloud.
Laurel let out a breath and smiled. “That’s great.”
“Yeah.” He made to put his phone away but stopped and got it out again.
“What are you doing?”
“Turning this off.” He grinned up at her. “We don’t need it anymore.”
He drew her back in towards his chest as she giggled, though those faded away as he renewed his attempts to re-familiarize himself with her mouth. Oliver couldn’t think of the last time he’d felt this carefree and happy, but the memories that immediately came to mind had this same woman in common. His oldest friend; his online friend; the woman he loved. Dinah Laurel Lance was all that and more.
He was so lucky.

Arrow Rewatch 2018 - 3x01
Tumblr media
Y’all, this is a long one. I apologize. But not really because it’s just me fangirling about Olicity the majority of the time, sooooo. Hahaha.
One of my favorite episodes of Arrow!
— I love all the sequences of Oliver running through the forest/woods/trees to start the season. Wish they had kept up with that!
— OTA and Roy looking as polished as they possibly can! Well. Oiled. Machine.
— “Did you buy me a bed?” “You were sleeping on the floor.” All my Olicity feeeels!
Tumblr media
— ALL THE FEELINGS. Her cupping his face. Him looking after her so lovingly. Those two are such goners.
— “Lyla has me trying to build a bassinet from hell.” Hahaha.
— “Maybe Felicity will change all that.” DOES SHE EVER.
— “You love her. You even told her so.” “I was trying to fool Slade.” “Ah, yes. But now the only one you’re fooling is yourself.” Preach, Diggle! Preach!
— The Hong Kong flashbacks are my favorites.
— This is one episode I actually like Laurel in. Haha.
— Quentin in his uniform! Gah, I’m gonna miss him.
— Whoever directed this episode did an amazing job of having Oliver standing behind Quentin in the background as he gives recognition to the Arrow.
— Vertigo! I love episodes with vertigo. Just another reason for this being one of my faves! Haha.
— OLIVER ASKED FELICITY OUT ON A DATE. FINALLY!!!
Tumblr media
— I love that he had to take a breath, gather himself, and then ask her again. Like he knew this was going to change his life the moment he asked it, either for the better or worse. And her immediate response? Gah. Dead.
— Poor Felicity. Having to wear khakis. Gross.
— “Do you like Italian?” LOVE this whole sequence!
— “You got a hot date or something?” That smiiiiillleeee!!!
— I have a confession to make. I love Olicity. More than any other couple ever. We all know this. BUT I actually don’t HATE Ray and Felicity. I loved the introduction to his character. I love that he was someone that could be a filler for Oliver until he got his shit together. I love that he understood Felicity and her little quirks (just as much as Oliver). I love that he caused all the angst. I really just love Ray as a character. Okay. Just needed to get that out before I continued on with the season. Hahaha. (Don’t hate me, please)
— “I feel like an M1A1!” Hahaha, the look on the doctors fave was priceless.
Tumblr media
— THE LOOK OF HAPPINESS ON THEIR FACES. THE HUG. THE HAND SQUEEZE. THE FELICITY BABBLES. BOTH OF THEM BEING SO NERVOUS. OLIVER ACTUALLY BEING OPEN. THE RED PEN. THE TRUST. THE ANGST. OLIVER IN PROTECTIVE MODE. HOW CAN ANYONE NOT LOVE THEM/THIS DATE?!
I’m chill, I’m totally chill. (I’m never chill when it comes to these two)
— “You’re the first person I could see as a..person. There was just something about you.” “Yeah, I was chewing on a pen.” “It was red.” I AM SO EMOTIONAL.
— As soon as he opens his eyes he’s searching for her. Precious.
Tumblr media
— And as soon as she wakes up she’s screaming his name. THESE TWO MAKE MY HEART SO HAPPY.
— “Get away from him or get put down!” Quentin has come so far.
— Going to take note every time Felicity asks Oliver if he’s okay this season (because I forgot to the last two seasons haha), 1/1!
— Oliver looking out for Diggle is one of my favorite things.
— Tatsu, Maseo, and Akeo!
— “If I’m not a cop, what am I?” A kick ass deputy mayor for one!
— “You two know each other..?” “Ooooh, frak.” LOLOL.
Tumblr media
— PROUD WIFEY FELICITY.
— Oliver’s confused face whenever Felicity says something he doesn’t understand is FOREVER my favorite. Hahaha.
— Oliver hates Ray so much already. Hahaha.
— Loving all the new technology this season!
— OMG. I never noticed that Oliver is looking right at Felicity when he says “It’s the life I can’t have.” GAAAAHHHHHH. KILL ME WITH ALL THE ANGST PLZ.
— “DAMMIT OLIVER, YOU WOULD BE DEAD TEN TIMES OVER IF IT WASNT FOR ME!” True story. I get where Diggle is coming from, but Oliver is right. He needs to be with Lyla and his daughter.
— Side note: Roy’s new suit is FIIIIREEEE.
— Sara! Hey girl!
— Roy and Felicity with the save!
— I LOVE Oliver and Sara as friends.
— “You know how I said I knew a guy that’s looking to hire you?” *points to himself* hahaha.
— “All my data has been replaced with porcupine flatulence.” Hahahaha, dont mess with Felicity. Love this whole exchange so much.
— “BTW, might wanna check your iPad while you’re at it.” Hahahaha.
— “The second I looked at her my whole universe changed. Everything changed.” OLIVER GAZING AT FELICITY. MELT MY FREAKING HEART.
Tumblr media
— Doliver’s bromance is everything.
— Oliver knows Felicity is his soulmate. But he has to grow and change into the person that he’s meant to become before he accepts that it’s okay to love her. I get that, but it still sucks that we had to wait a whole season (okay 3 seasons) for it. But again, ALL THE ANGST.
— That kiss punches me right in the gut. EVERY SINGLE TIME I WATCH IT.
Tumblr media
— “Don’t ask me to say that I don’t love you.” The way he stares at her. The way he’s cupping her face. The way she is completely out of breath. I CANNOT. I JUST CANT.
— I LOVE that he just holds his hands up where her face was after she walks away. He’s just like “shit. What did I just do? Did I just lose the love of my life?” It’s heartbreaking.
— Barry! What’s up, my friend?!
— “Laurel Lance. Always trying to save the world.” “Runs in the family.” Love their relationship.
— BUT BUT WHHHYYY SARA?! Gah. Forever sad about that death. Even if she did come back to life, haha.

My thoughts on Voltron (especially season 8)
As a collective, the series was great. I’m not going to shit all over it and denounce it for the rest of my life. I’m gonna rewatch it, write fan fiction, follow artists and writers who will continue to do amazing work. I’m still in the process of buying more merch. It’s in my top 5 favorite shows. That said:
I’m extremely disappointed in the show’s ending. From about season 5-6, I feel the writers were way in over there heads. They had so many ideas and characters they wrote and put into the show. Yes, there was some important moments its just uggh.
Imma just get into it.
First off, Takashi Shirogane He’s been through hell and back. He was an amazing character the writers just tossed to the side when they wanted to follow the original plot more. I mean, in the original series Shiro was never the black paladin. The original Shiro was the blue paladin and was killed off. Then was kinda, kinda not Sven afterwards. VLD’s Shiro was poorly planned. They make him the black paladin for what reason? To give us a spacer until the writers were ready to make Keith the leader and then we just push Shiro to the side. His clone doesn’t suffice. Clone Shiro/Kuron is just bullshit honestly. Real Shiro is actually dead/stuck in the inner quintessence of the black lion while his clone is fucking up Shiro’s image. Yes, Kuron is just a pawn in Haggar’s evil plan to defeat Voltron, but before we know that, we just see “Shiro” fight with Keith over how to lead Voltron, and yell at everyone. To make things worse, Shiro never gets to pilot Black again because Allura needs to be blue, Lance red, and Keith black to follow the originial series. The writers just shit all over Shiro. They take away his arm again, kill off his ex fiance, don’t give him anytime to mourn him really, season 8 doesn’t even ever mention Adam. Nothing.  Adam was there just to say “gay rep”. And Shiro is given the Atlas to pilot which is just Castle of Lions and Voltron’s love child. They think they can just take away Shiro’s claim on the black lion and just toss him a new ship to make it up?
Shiro had to constantly fight for the control of Black because Zarkon still had a connection. Shiro earned his right to be the leader. I love you, Keith, but Shiro deserves Black.  Shiro didn’t go through all this shit to hand it over to someone else. They hand him this ship that seems awesome but is overkill. Castle of Lions is gone what are we going to do? Oh, just make a new one except it turns into a thicc voltron.
Then season 8 comes around and Shiro isn’t given any real new development. In fact he’s just a face at this point. He captains the Atlas but all the spot light is on the current paladins and Allurance.
Like Keith and him are distant friends now???
And in the end we just throw him a rando to marry and call it good?
Next we have Pidge, who I don’t have as much to rant about. She’s my baby and I will protect her at all costs. The only real problem I ever had about my little Katie is the constant cliche thrown around every time she starts explaining science or math things using smart big technical terms and you get someone to say “in english this time” or “Just get to the point”. Like Pidge, you is smart but too smart omg just dumb everything down for us dumbs is a constant joke thrown into the show. Just let my girl use her big words and be proud of her intelligence. While she has a very great role, she deserves more instead of deus ex machina-ing everything.
Now Allura. Oh boy here we go.  I love my beautiful strong black girl. She’s smart, resilient, and a fighter. They did her dirty.  I mean we just kill her off? I was rooting for her. WE was all rooting for her. She’s a grounded princess who just wants to end the war and do Altea some justice. instead we throw her into romance like there isn’t the constant threat of the Galra just waltzing in any moment? My girl deserved better. She becomes the blue paladin, and struggles with learning how to work with blue as one. And watching her over come that obstacle was amazing and I’m a proud mom. But we just kill her off? Like Altean Alchemy is a fictional practice in a fictional show. Why did it take both Honerva and Allura to fix it all? Why did it have to take their lives? Why couldn’t Allura just take a deep breath close her eyes like she’s done with everything else and then do her blue glowy stuff and boom, lets go home.
They made the rules so her death wasn’t necessary. They could make easier less mean rules
Was it the writers trying to find a way please more than one ship? Like they wanted Allurance but killed her off to make Lance single and ready to mingle with Keith or Pidge to make fans happy? Did they think after fixing all realities once more that Allura had no where to go? They didn’t want her to help bring all the planets together? Did they not want her to marry Lance? I mean, we ask how do we form Voltron without Allura, and she answers Voltron is no longer needed. Like is there really not going to be any rebellion that needs Voltron intervention? Who says someone in the Galra empire isn’t satisfied with the ending? Or someone in the Altean colony wants revenge? Voltron could still be used. plus just because Voltron is no longer needed why can’t Allura be needed still??  I also can’t stand the writing they did for her. I’m looking at you, Allurance.  Allurance isn’t one of my favorite ships just because of how it turned out. Lotor and Allura was even then a bit iffy, although was healthier than Allurance. With Lotura, Allura and Lotor bonded, had their Altean heritage in common. A common goal. They weren’t rushed together. They were amazing together, until the very end where Lotor goes insane with quintessence. Allurance is just forced. In the very beginning until about season 7 we see Allura ever showing any feelings for Lance. All this time it was Lance being a cheesy lover boy who was hot for the princess and in return Allura rolled her eyes or ignored his advances. Up until season 7 where Allura all of a sudden blushes and whabam, has a full blown crush on Lance. OUT OF NOWHERE. Sure, theoretically Allura could’ve just hid her feelings very well until that point.  This newfound love just mocks Allura’s character. A strong woman who needs no man, but you know that hot suave prince who no one could resist. Then all of a sudden right before a mission, Allura becomes a little school girl blushing and stuttering.  Anyway, Allura deserved better than being a martyr and a rushed relationship.
Next on my list is Lance. My very precious boy who I will end myself to make smile. HE IS A BEAUTIFUL BOY WHO DESERVES EVERYTHING. including Keith  Lance, a cocky pilot, a terrible flirt, a lover not a fighter. He has one of the best arcs in my opinion. He’s a star example of growing up. He is first just a goofy boy with no care in the world except to show up Keith and get the ladies. As time progresses he matures so much. Goddamn should I even write about him because I just love him so much. He becomes a ninja sharpshooter, gains confidence, fucking earns himself the title of paladin.  though, he is constantly used as an object for comedy or plot continuance. He is the stupid one of the group who doesn’t understand anything. He’s the classic funny guy. Makes jokes, big flirt, doesn’t understand the big words the smart ones make. But I gotta admit, I think Lance eventually realizes that character and that’s him. Once “Shiro” comes back Lance thinks someone has to give up a lion. The old Lance would’ve voted Keith off the island, but Lance at this point came to terms that Keith isn’t just his rival. Keith is a vital part of Voltron. Lance has faith in Keith as the leader, and a paladin in general. And Allura at this point made some amazing progress with Blue, the lion Lance prided himself on the one Blue picked. Lance was willing to give up Blue for Allura and give Keith back Red, the lion Lance also really wanted in the beginning as well. Lance questions his own worth. He realizes he’s the goofy flirt. He’s not as smart as Pidge or Hunk. He’s not as skilled of a pilot and fighter like Keith. He’s not a leader like Allura or Shiro. Lance eventually realizes his importance later on when he finally gets some recognition and praise. “That’s why we bring our sharpshooter” Lance also develops a huge real crush on Allura. While he always had a thing for her, he also had a thing for literally any other female being he had come across that was remotely attractive. His not so serious hard on for Allura turns into something beautiful. He sees her for more than her looks. He knows how fucking incredible she is and he knows he’s not worthy.
But season seven fucks him over as well as everyone else. Forced Allurance. Lance had a big crush on Allura for years and waited patiently. Allura falls for Lance out of NOWHERE. That’s all fine and dandy cause I love my boy and he deserves happiness.  But in season 8 with their relationship, Lance becomes just the boyfriend. A complete opposite of his usual self. He’s serious and at Allura’s side 24/7 being her emotional support even though she really takes him for granted. Allura never really shows this compassion to Lance.  Lance is just the kid who got his feelings returned. But that’s all it is. The whole season is Lance being with Allura there is no Loverboy Lance. It’s just sullen boyfriend who is giving his all for this relationship. And Allura isn’t like this at all. She returns the hand holding, the hugs, the kisses, but she doesn’t give the emotional side back. Which I understand is because she has way more important things to worry about. That’s another reason why I hated their untimely relationship. This is not the time for a blossoming relationship. Allura isn’t in the mindset to give her all to this relationship. She’s busy with Honerva. allura doesn’t have time to be all uwu for some guy. And in the end Allura gives her life to save all of existence. she kisses Lance one last time, and gives Lance those marks which is never explained further. Like are those marks there to signify only the relationship that lasted a few months? Lance’s love for Allura or Allura apparent love for Lance? Do those marks give Lance some Altean abilities?  Lance the sharpshooter fighter pilot ends up just being a farmer on his family’s farm? Like maybe the harsh cold truth of war might’ve made him want to retire the spaceman dreams??? The writers also just plain lied to us about Lance. Lance’s endgame was supposed to be a slowburn? that Lance wasn’t going to be someone’s second choice? And in the end he’s just sad and depressed over Allura. At this point he’s just there to spread the gospel about Allura. I mean who knows? Maybe they left everyone without a significant other (besides Shiro) to keep it all up in the air. Like maybe Lance’s slowburn endgame is Keith but we don’t see it?
Then my boy Keef.  My boyfriend, my husband, my child.  What a mess. They gave him EVERYTHING. He gets childhood flashbacks, childhood trauma, mommy issues, a loving parent relationship, a backstory, his mom even got a backstory. He’s an amazing fighter. He is a great leader. He has some good connections. He’s smart, an excellent strategist.  He also has trust issues, a lone wolf type of guy, and he has some problems sorting out his feelings. He learns patience, compassion, love, trust. He’s the whole enchilada until season 8, where pretty much everyone is thrown out the window except for Allura and Honerva.  Literally the only problem I have with the writing for Keith was season 8, him and Shiro have literally no interaction for shit?  “Brother, I love you.” Bitch where?
Keith traveled galaxies for Shiro. And season 8 they’re just two co-workers.
Hunk I’ve had problems with since the very beginning. He doesn’t get enough love. He’s the big guy so he is always hungry, always thinking of food, gets tired easily, has little stamina, scared of everything. Sometimes I forget he’s literally a genius engineer?
Romelle had more potential than to be one of Hunk’s chefs. I’m sorry.
Coran is perfect. Don’t ever change.
In the beginning of the series, they weren’t writing characters well enough, and in the middle everyone had something, but in the end there wasn’t enough time to wrap things up nicely. It was rushed. The last season was a poor excuse for an ending.  Lotor deserved better. They hyped us up for Lotor’s return but it was pretty much just his corpse in the sincline??? We get his back story a bit. But in the end he still doesn’t get the mother he deserved?? And Allura and him never got some closure????
Krolia who? We spent all this time getting to know her and build her relationship to make her a background character.  Keith and her have no interaction in the last season??
They should’ve made Veronica and Acxa lesbians. Ezor and Zethrid deserved some wlw screentime. More than what we got at least. Not enough Colleen.
Definitely needed more of the mfes. Especially James. Like I wanted some interaction between Keith and James???? Something at least?????
Also, Bae Bae should’ve been made into a main character.
Though with all my complaints. I’m really gonna miss the show. I didn’t spend as much time with it as a lot of you guys did. I finally watched it right before the 7th season came out. So I haven’t had as much time to analyze it or to experience every season like all of you. But I’m gonna miss this show. I’m really beating myself up over not watching it early on. Like I’d see it on my instagram, or here on tumblr, but never gave it a second thought. It was just some mech kids show that was gonna be hella cringey. But it ended up being a big part of my 2018 and I’m gonna be carrying it into future years.
I never made any friends because of the show. I’ve never reached out, no one ever reached out. Seeing all of you interact, or reminisce over the times you all had over Voltron moments. While I’ve only known it for months and I’ve never have that time a lot of people did.
I have discovered many great writers, artists, cosplayers because of Voltron and I’m so fucking happy that I was able to find people who express their love for the show so much that they present it to the world in different ways and I get to experience it.
I loved the show. And I will continue to love it. I want to thank all the cast and the people who made the show. And I’m gonna go rewatch this whole entire thing over and over again even if I’m not 100% on board with how they decided to end it, but who ever really likes endings?

Taylor Swift Celebrates Nashville Roots and the Power of Pop at Nissan Stadium
Swift's hometown extravaganza features snakes, Faith Hill and Tim McGraw, and tons of other spectacles
By THE SPIN   AUG 27, 2018

Taylor Swift’s Reputation Stadium Tour is supposed to be the ultimate expression of the singer’s new persona, a flashy display of the fresh-out-of-fucks-to-give attitude she debuted last year after declaring "the old Taylor” dead. But really, Swift’s Saturday stop at Nissan Stadium was a celebration of both the old and the new. With a set list that reached all the way back to 2006, it was a culmination of the lessons, lyrics and fans that have helped Swift reach her most confident, carefree (and successful) self, which — as she stated repeatedly from the enormous X-shaped stage — never would've happened without Nashville.
“I moved to Nashville when I was 13,” the singer said after opening her set with back-to-back performances of “... Ready for It?” and “I Did Something Bad.” (The Spin could feel the heat from the pyro, even though we were a couple hundred feet away.) “I remember my first memory of this stadium. My mom and I got tickets to CMA Fest. ... I just remember thinking that that’s the biggest place that anyone could ever play.
“Years later I was lucky enough to actually play a 15-20 minute set at CMA Fest in this stadium, and I was like, ‘That’s it, that’s the peak, that’s the best it’s ever gonna get,’ ” Swift continued. “So tonight is the first time I’m headlining this stadium, and I’m so grateful, you guys. You have no idea — this means so much to me. It means so much to my family and friends. This is our hometown show.”
Since her stadium debut years ago, Swift and her team have perfected the art of massive production, right down to the tiny symbolic details. The digital graphics that flashed across the several-stories-high video screen were impeccable, the fireworks and towers of flame were plentiful, the dancers and backup singers were diverse and mesmerizing, and there were So. Many. Giant. Snakes. (OK, so there were only three giant snakes, but that is three more than any other stadium show we've seen has had. It was hilarious.) There were even two gondola-like contraptions (one of which was in the shape of a snake, naturally) to carry Swift between the main stage and two smaller stages.
The green sequined jacket Swift wore during the acoustic portion of the show — during which she played guitar and sang “Dancing With Our Hands Tied” and “Better Man” (a CMA- and Grammy-winning song that Swift wrote and Little Big Town recorded) — was decorated with a glittery black-and-gold patch made specifically for the Nashville date. The confetti that rained down during the Great Gatsby-meets-High School Musical finale of “Call It What You Want” and a mashup of “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together” with “This Is Why We Can’t Have Nice Things” consisted of tiny tissue-paper versions of a Taylor Swift newspaper. Even Nashville’s inescapable growth got a shoutout — as Swift sat down at the piano, we noticed that the towers holding the massive stacks of speakers over her head resembled construction cranes. At that point, she paused to note how the city keeps changing.

“One of the most obvious indications of time passing, for me, is Nashville,” she said. “Because every time I come home, something’s different, something new is being built — we got another cool restaurant, another couple thousand people that moved here. Because, basically, I’m sure you’ve noticed this too: In the last 15 years everyone else has realized that Nashville is just the best place in the world.”
After performing “Don’t Blame Me” and a “Long Live”/“New Year’s Day” medley solo at the piano, the love letter to Music City continued. “[Nashville] is the most important city I’ve ever been in in my entire life. And it’s the place where … I wrote the song that I haven’t played in a very, very long time. And it was a song that really changed my life. I think that it would only be fitting to play it tonight.”
Then, Swift delivered country music’s most magical moment of the weekend, surprising the ecstatic audience with a visit from Faith Hill and Tim McGraw. The couple joined in on — you guessed it — Swift’s 2006 country hit, “Tim McGraw.” Tens of thousands of fans lost their shit. The woman sitting behind us started sobbing. Our ears are still ringing from the applause.
While Swift’s simultaneously endearing and tongue-in-cheek recognition of her career's ups and downs may have taken center stage, it was the small nods to her own personal growth that were the most satisfying to see. Swift's band and army of dancers and singers were diverse in size, race and age. And unlike so many other stadium shows, where the opening acts take a very (very very very) distant backseat to the main attraction, Swift's show featured hit factory Charli XCX and former Fifth Harmony singer and VMA Artist of the Year Camila Cabello — both women of color — in beefy opening slots.
Tumblr media
Charli XCX at Nissan Stadium PHOTO: LANCE CONZETT
Charli XCX came off as your hyper, party-obsessed BFF from the future, and Cabella's Cuban-influenced set was fun and theatrical while also showcasing her stunning, rich voice. It wouldn't be surprising to see Cabella hold down her own stadium tour someday. The two singers returned to the stage to help Swift out during a colorful, confetti-filled performance of “Shake It Off” (cue the snakes!) and all three took time to note how honored and empowered they felt by the stacked bill — "Not one, not two, but three badass women on one stage,” said Charli XCX.
In the past, those slots have gone to white men. The openers for her 2015 North American 1989 Tour were Shawn Mendes and Vance Joy. (Rae Morris played one date, and Haim played several, including the Bridgestone Arena shows.) And in 2013-14, Ed Sheeran, Brett Eldredge, Florida Georgia Line, Casey James and Austin Mahone, among others, took turns starting the show for the Red Tour's North American dates.
Even off the stage, Swift has taken meaningful steps. In March, after the mass shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Fla., she posted on Instagram that she made a donation to the March for Our Lives campaign, saying, “I’m so moved by the Parkland High School students, faculty, by all families and friends of victims who have spoken out, trying to prevent this from happening again.” And in April, which is Sexual Assault Awareness Month, Swift reportedly made a “generous donation” to the Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network.
Much of the initial criticism of Swift’s dramatic return to the public eye in 2017 was focused on how the singer has neglected to take a stance on anything remotely political — something the Scene's own Megan Seling has noted. It's encouraging to see Swift counter that with action.
Sure, Swift is still obsessed with her image. The show started with audio clips of things newscasters and critics have said over the years (including Perez Hilton alleging that Swift was responsible for his suspension from Twitter — LOL). But it appears as though she's at least starting to think about what other messages she can send to her legions of fans. Big platforms — whether they're the kind that spout flames and giant snakes or not — can be used to make a big difference, and it's heartening to see a homegrown megastar turn her attention toward their power.

Title: Getting Time and Regretting It
Fandom: Voltron: Legendary Defender
Pairing: Klance
Summary:  Stagnant in a new city, Keith’s band isn’t going anywhere. He’s given up the chance to do the normal thing; go to college, get a steady 9-5 job at a desk. Thrown it all in for his dreams of music and it’s not going anywhere. He’s pretty sure he’s going to be struggling through life with two customer service jobs and three hours sleep a night until the end of time – and then he meets Lance; bottled sunshine in human form. And suddenly the world doesn’t seem to be filtered in grey-scale anymore. (Feel free to read the series out of order. It’s not chronological anyway.)
Words: Total: 14,264 (liable to slight change) This part: 2,623
Notes: The follow up to Cocoon. Here’s the first chapter for you right here. You’ll have to follow the link for the rest. Updates are every two days.
There’s a phrase that keeps floating through Keith’s head. Just: ‘What am I doing?’ It’s on a loop, around and around and around.
WhatamIdoingwhatamIdoingwhatamIdoingwhatamIdoing?
When he’s at work, serving customers with a smile carved into his face or trying to sign them up for a membership they’ll never use and that will slowly bleed them dry, when he’s walking home, when he’s at practice, making dinner, in the shower, trying to sleep, again and again it’s ‘what am I doing?’.
There’s an anxiety to it, a feeling of missing out, like taking a sick day that happened to be someone’s birthday and they brought cupcakes. On one hand, there’s nothing inherently wrong with spending a day cocooned in bed, eating soup and laughing at Netflix so loudly your neighbours bang on the wall, especially if you are actually sick. On the other hand, cupcakes. And you missed someone’s birthday so you’re automatically a jerk. It’s that tight chested feeling of ‘Aw… Janet made cupcakes?’ only it doesn’t go away. Not after a few minutes, not after days. It’s been eight weeks since Keith dropped out of college and move to Los Angeles with his band and they’ve been eight solid weeks of no cupcakes and ‘what am I doing?’
It rolls through his head again as he strolls into band practice fifteen minutes late because he missed his bus but it’s happening with such regularity now that he ignores it.
They can’t practice in the flat they share – they’ve already had too many noise complaints – but they can’t afford a studio. So they practice in a garage. It belongs to some guy called Derek who seems to hate them but love their money and lives just outside the city.
“Sorry I’m late,” he mumbles but he knows Matt won’t be here yet anyway.
“It’s fine, actually,” says Allura so pleasantly that Keith looks up from where he’s unclipping his bass case.
He frowns. “What’s got you so chipper?”
“We’ve got a gig,” Shiro supplies, ducking under the roller door into the garage. He’s probably been talking to Derek again. No one’s ever envied him the job.
Keith’s frown deepens. “Good?” he says. The last time Shiro brought them a gig it’d been for some tween’s birthday party.
He can apparently read Keith’s mind because he points at him sternly and says, “Hey, any recognition is good recognition.”
“So where is this so-called gig?” Keith asks.
“A bar. Downtown. We’re opening for one of their more regular performers.”
Keith tries not to grimace. Chances are they’ll be playing to an empty bar again then, too early for anyone to be in.
“Well, it’s a step up from birthday parties,” says Allura, plopping onto her stool and picking up her sticks.
Any recognition is good recognition, Keith repeats to himself as his brain continues to loop ‘What am I doing?’ quietly in the background.
“How’s the youtube account coming?” he asks Allura to change the topic.
She lowers her drumsticks with a sigh. “We’re still sitting around the 600 subscribers mark, which… isn’t bad but…”
“No one’s quitting their day jobs, though,” he finishes for her.
Stagnant.
The word floats through his head with all the other mess. But it’s quickly interrupted by a cacophony of swearing and falling things, followed by a loud ‘thwunk’ as Matt finally trips into the garage, smacking his head on the door as he goes.
“Fuck. Shit. Ow. God. Hey!” he says, hoisting the strap of his guitar case back onto his shoulder. “Sorry! Yeah, I’m late again. Work and then trains and then busses and traffic!” He throws his hands in the air. “You know, the usual. Let’s just get started, yeah?”
“Shiro got us a gig,” Allura interrupts.
Matt winces. “Look, Shiro, I know at this point we gotta be grateful for anything we can get but I’d really like to not be hit on by a twelve year old again anytime soon.”
Shiro looks affronted but Keith just snorts a laugh into his fist and goes back to setting up his bass.
***
The gig goes about as well as expected. And there’s such a frustration about it because, dammit, they worked hard for this. So many afternoons leading up to it crammed into Derek’s garage talking with bright eyes (‘We should play something mainstream, like really mainstream. Something everyone knows the words to, that makes them want to sing along, get involved, have a good time.’ ‘Clever, Matt. Then we can sneakily slip in a couple of originals and they’ll be hooked!’), sure this’ll be their first decent break, and practicing and practicing and going into work the next day on three hours of sleep, Allura still beating out drumlines with her fingers as she carries customers their essential morning pastries. But there are a grand total of five people, including employees, in the bar when Shiro opens his mouth and says, ‘Good evening, we are Castle of Lions,’ and there are still only five when he says goodnight.
The band packs up with blank faces. Shiro keeps closing his eyes and taking deep breaths. Lord only knows what he’s thinking that necessitates such extreme calming measures.
“I’m gonna stay,” says Keith when they’re all packed up. “Grab a drink, listen to the main act.”
Allura just pats him on the shoulder as they all file out past him with nothing more than nods of recognition.
Keith doesn’t actually turn twenty-one for almost a full year but the bartender doesn’t even question it when he slides onto the stool and asks for a whisky, just offers a reassuring smile.
“For what it’s worth,” she says, “I thought you guys were really good. Better than this lot, at any rate.” She nods her head in the direction of the main act setting up on stage.
“Thanks,” he replies but it tastes strange in his mouth. Something he’s expected to say, just sounds without meaning because they’ve been said so many times – ash, the burnt leftovers of something once useful. Because who gives a fuck if they’re good if no one’s ever going to hear them?
“Hey guys,” a smoker’s voice says over the microphone and Keith glances over his shoulder long enough to glimpse a white guy with dreads before he’s back to staring into his drink. “We’re Killer Callous and how y’all doing tonight?”
The bar has been slowly filling over the last half an hour and it feels like a kick in the guts that a band called ‘Killer Callous’ could possibly have more pull than they did.
The frontman, seemingly satisfied with the mediocre whoops he got in reply, launches into their first song. An atrocity where poor vocals are hidden by heavy drums and guitar, poor instrumental skill is hidden by sheer volume. Keith winces and tries to stop feeling like he’s going to cry.
No, he’s not bitter at all.
It’s a flip of the coin, he knows. There’s as much luck as there is skill involved to make it in music. No, it’s not a flip of the coin, it’s not even a dice-roll, it’s a roulette wheel with thousands of options. Chances are there are hundreds of better bass players out there who aren’t even where Keith is. He’s got to grit his teeth and bear it because he’s never going to win the jackpot if he’s not even on the wheel.
He drains his drink, ditches his jacket over the back of the stool, and asks for another. The bartender just nods at him.
Maybe it’s one drink or maybe it’s three drinks later – all Keith knows is that Killer Callous have played seven songs and the bar is packed now – when some guy slides into the empty stool beside him.
“Heya beautiful,” says this stranger except, when Keith turns to glare at him, he follows it up with, “Fuck. You’re gorgeous,” in the same tone he might have used had Keith turned around and been his cousin.
“What?” says Keith, too tired and too stuck and too buzzed for this right now.
The guy’s just staring at him wide eyed and mouth slightly open and, damn it all, he’s pretty cute.
Keith sighs and rolls his eyes. “Has that line ever worked?”
“What?” says the guy and he sounds so genuinely confused that Keith frowns a little harder. “No, I… Shit, I didn’t realise or I wouldn’t have… I’m just gonna–” he gestures vaguely over his shoulder, “– because you are – wow – way outa my league.”
And he turns to walk away.
“What?” says Keith again. “Alright, I guess…”
The guy stops to stare at him again. “You really… You really have no idea, do you? I mean, putting aside the mullet-ish hair you’re rocking – and, shit, you’re somehow still making it work, what the hell – you’re pretty much the physical embodiment of perfection, you know that, right? Like, shit man, have you somehow never seen your eyes? They’re like… like storm clouds or something – at night!”
“So… they’re dark? You really are working this bit, aren’t you?” And Keith is more amused than irritated now because can you even see storm clouds at night?
“You don’t believe me,” says the guy incredulously and then he turns to shout over his shoulder, “Hey! Naomi! Get over here and tell this guy he has eyes like the cosmos because he won’t listen to me!”
Eyes like the cosmos.
Alright, Keith feels his guts twist a little at that one but it’s only because this stranger has a turn of phrase that has the songwriter inside him envious. He kind of wants to take out his phone and write it down so he doesn’t forget.
Except somehow he’s being lead over to this guy’s friends and being introduced (“The name’s Lance, by the way.”) and settling down with a fresh drink. The friendly bartender from earlier grabs his bass from under his old stool and motions to him that she’s going to put it in the back.
And fuck it all because Lance is… he’s so alive. Especially to Keith, whose insides feel like a desert, he shines so fucking bright as he laughs and gestures wildly with his hands and drags Keith into the conversation, making sure he’s not left out, leans his forearms on the table… the way his own mysteriously coloured eyes crinkle up when he smiles. Keith doesn’t think he’s ever fallen so quickly for anybody in his life.
Let me take you home, he thinks. He just wants to bottle this little bit of warmth and life and take it with him wherever he goes. Lance is like the sun, all bronzed skin and chestnut hair and flashing smile and those eyes that look almost black in the low-lit smog of the bar.
– And he’s gone. Whoa. Where’d he go?
It’s fine, he’s just at the bar getting more drinks with that Naomi girl. Keith might be a bit more than buzzed now.
“So, what’s your deal, Keith?” says one of the guys left at their booth. Keith’s pretty sure his name is Kyle. “I mean, you’re obviously a nice guy. You’ve gotta be pretty nice to let Lance go all lovesick puppy on you.”
“Gotta be pretty nice to let any dude go lovesick puppy on you,” interrupts the other guy who will, henceforth, be known only as Dick in Keith’s mind.
“Yeah, he’s not making you uncomfortable or anything, right, man? ‘Cause we can tell him to stop if he is. I don’t think he’s quite grasped the whole ‘a time and a place’ thing.” Keith makes a mental note to change Kyle’s name to Dick-Kyle.
“Nah, he’s fine,” says Keith and the guys look at him skeptically. “Fuck, he sure is pretty, though, right?” he adds just to piss them off and a small part of him sings when they both instantly lean a little further away from him.
“I mean… yeah, sure, if you’re into that kind of thing,” says Dick and Keith tries not to smirk.
How did Lance end up here with people like this?
How did Keith end up here with people like this?
What am I doing?
Lance suddenly pops back into existence beside the table with Naomi at his elbow. He’s holding a tray of shots but swaying like he maybe took a couple on the walk over here.
“What are we talking about? My beautiful face?” he says with a grin that’s starting to grow a little sloppy at the edges.
“Something like that,” says Keith with a smile.
And the night just descends into some sort of beautiful hell from then on. Lance is a handsy drunk, his arm creeping around Keith’s waist and over his neck and into his hair, fingers carding through, and Keith keeps catching him just staring at him with this lax, content smile on his face – fucking hell, give him strength because this is a very beautiful but very drunk man and all Keith wants is to take him home and into his bed. But he also wants to wake up in the morning with him warm in his arms, to get him a glass of water and some advil and listen to him bitch about his hangover, and the combination of feelings is so new, so young and sudden, that Keith is half sure his heart’s about to try climb up his throat and escape.
So when Lance leans far into Keith’s space to whisper, “D’you wanna get out of here?” his lips brushing against the shell of his ear, all Keith can do is nod his head quickly and gather up his jacket, running to the back room for his bass.
They’re blue. Lance’s eyes are blue. Keith can see them shining in the streetlight, deep and bright, as they walk along. Lance is still talking, curling into Keith where he has his arm strung around his shoulder; anecdotes about family and siblings and friends and classes. And he’s so animated even when he’s angry or sad, even as he deflates while talking about feeling so alone and pressured that he’d run off on a trip to LA, that Keith finds himself hanging on his every word. Everything about Lance is big. His voice. His emotions. His expressions and gestures. He’s a black hole, drawing everything else in.
He shivers, despite the hot Californian summer night, and Keith practically rips his jacket off to give it to him. It’s his mum’s jacket. He’s never let anyone else wear it. Not even Shiro. He only just met this guy. What is he doing?
WhatamIdoingwhata–
The thoughts are cut off when Lance tangles his fingers through Keith’s and pulls his arm around his shoulder again. Fuck, this is nice.
“Keith,” Lance whispers later when Keith is trying to untangle his arms around his neck and tuck him into bed, working against Lance and his own desires, “Keith,” he wraps one deliciously long leg around the back of Keith’s thigh to try and pull him closer, “Keith, don’t tell the bartender… But I’m only nineteen.” He giggles, hands slipping under Keith’s shirt to explore the planes of his stomach, and Keith sighs. And then, suddenly, he’s asleep, limbs going loose like cooked noodles, and Keith can finally pull away.
He leaves a glass of water and a bottle of advil beside his bed and turns to leave. But Keith can’t quite resist pushing up Lance’s bangs to place a kiss on his forehead before he goes to sleep on the couch. He can only hope that this gangly mess of sunshine will still want anything to do with him when he wakes up with a clear head and clear vision tomorrow.

kaorusan241 replied to your post: I’ve expressed my frustration before with fanon...
Tbh if you’re gonna make a post like this you ought to mention that they share plenty of negative traits too…. otherwise you’re just a hypocrite for stanning Shiro/ignoring his canon faults whilst accusing Lance stans of doing the same
Hi, friend! That post was pretty tongue-in-cheek, admittedly, it was mostly me expressing frustration.
The intent of the post was not that either Shiro or Lance are perfect or flawless people, but, rather, that Lance is mistakenly given Shiro’s traits, and I wanted to rally against that not only because Shiro deserves recognition for who and what he is, but also because that’s not fair to Lance at all! He’s not Shiro, and he shouldn’t have to be like Shiro to be seen as a worthwhile person.
Because Lance is a very empathetic and open person. If anything, he and Shiro are polar opposites in how they address their feelings. Lance is very inclined to networking and opening up to people, and as seen in s3e6 with Keith, will actively seek people out to talk about his concerns and stresses.
Tumblr media
This is a fantastic quality of Lance’s, one of, in my opinion, his greatest character strengths and it’s something Shiro is awful at. Lance actually does the good thing and addresses his feelings. This makes sense because multiple official sources tell us the Blue Lion is the nurturing emotional head of Voltron- the “heart” of the team. And that’s an area where Lance excels.
Tumblr media
Conversely this is an area Shiro struggles with profoundly. This poor guy has an obvious undiagnosed anxiety disorder (PTSD) and seems to have been a slightly high-strung overachiever most of his life. Shiro stocks strengths Lance doesn’t- he has an incredible resolve, pain tolerance, and determination. That’s not to say Lance is weak-willed or cowardly, but, consider incidents like in s1e5 where Lance fights awake for a brief period of time to attack Sendak and then rapidly loses consciousness again.
Shiro has the most determination and greatest force of personality out of the team, in general. He has a powerful sense of personal ethics and will live or die, stare into the abyss for his ideals.
Lance, while also a hero, and able to do some amazing things (he was able to get under Shiro’s skin in s2e8 challenging him, he’s no wimp in the willpower department ‘cause none of these kids are) doesn’t have all of Shiro’s strengths and that’s fine. He doesn’t need to. He has all of Lance’s strengths, instead.
Furthermore, you have to consider where Lance was in s1e1 and what that says about Lance. Lance is not a genius or a prodigy. However, he was able to, through basically just diligence and hard work- another major virtue of his- reach Keith’s position. He was able to occupy the slot in the fighter class saved for Keith, their most promising cadet. Iverson phrases it incredibly harshly, but he clearly thinks Lance has potential, and the only problem is he doesn’t think Lance is taking this seriously.
But Lance isn’t happy in s1e1. Because that slot wasn’t meant for him. It was someone else’s role. And there’s something to this once s3e2 comes around and Lance steps up as Red Paladin.
Unlike Allura or Keith, Lance struggles the least, observably, with the Red Lion. His single argument is the controls are tricky, and by s3e3 he’s overwhelmingly worked that out.
Of the paladins, Lance is the most adaptable to an unpredictable or changing situation. This is also reflected in s4e4, when all the paladins are called upon to act contrary to who they really are- notice that Lance is the one who thrives in that environment. Because Lance is a chameleon of a person. He’s able to be what the situation needs of him with a great deal of flexibility.
Tumblr media
(Consider that his counterpart on Team Sincline is an almost literal chameleon.)
But ultimately those roles are disappointing and unfulfilling. They don’t work as a permanent arrangement because he knows they’re not for him, and he knows what feels right.
Tumblr media
Full disclosure here, I adore Lance. The reason why I get so frustrated at popular fanon Lance is he’s one of my favorite characters and I feel like people really do not give him credit where credit’s due! Especially because my point that he’s given Shiro’s characteristics is that time and time again, I’ve seen fanwork of Lance being utterly destroyed in his own area of expertise.
Again, Lance is the feelings guy out of the team! Shiro, Keith, and Allura are frankly all prone to bottling issues, failing to address them, holding things past the breaking point and snapping at the worst possible time and place. Lance? Lance doesn’t do that. Lance can be basically precision suckerpunched right where it hurts with his own issues- look at s3e1 and the revelation that not only did Shiro actively nominate Keith as leader in his absence but the Black Lion also thinks so right when Lance was still nursing the hurt of being rejected by Black.
Look at how perfectly Lance takes it upon himself to put everything he’s feeling, that he knows, that he acknowledges, that he’s already been venting and communicating- aside, and talk about it in a mature and empathetic manner because he can tell that Keith is suffering in this situation.
This is Lance who says “This isn’t a participation game, this is war,” or who spent s4e6 doing everything he could to make Allura believe she could do what the entire team was counting on. Lance, who with certainty knows that the Blue Lion is the heart of the team and uses that to prop up Allura, but never took that knowledge to aggrandize himself.
Lance is an amazing person. He’s a wonderful, empathetic guy full of love, and he’s got fantastic instincts about people’s emotions. When he gets in trouble, he’s a very proactive force getting out of them and often his saving grace in situations is how good he is at listening to people even if he doesn’t necessarily like them or wants to prove himself against them. He’s so much stronger than his own insecurities.
But Lance isn’t a Black Paladin. He could do it, just like he can work with Red, but it wouldn’t be ideal for him. He’d sure do a lot better than Shiro would do with Blue, because... uh. Consider what happened with Allura, and consider what happened in Beta Traz when Shiro was in a stressful situation and felt like it was out of his control.
I also have great affection for Shiro. But. Dear god, he’s that friend that you knew that was taking all advanced classes and holding down straight A’s and also on a competitive sport team and you see them occasionally at mealtimes and they have never, ever had enough sleep.
Tumblr media
Like I said it before, Shiro has the strongest personal ethics and greatest determination out of the paladins and that’s a high damn bar but he pays for that by being stressed the hell out. And he’s spectacularly bad at self-care, because he’s got so much fortitude that he assumes he can make it, and most of the time he’s right, but it has a very heavy cost to him.
Tumblr media
Conversely, Lance, as I started this out by saying- Lance is fantastic at self-care. This is actively shown in his grooming habits. In s1e2 when everybody runs to the bridge, Shiro is the guy who was awake way too early and dressed and exercising probably because his sleep routine is fucked up and wasn’t relaxing at all. Lance wanders in late, but rested, pampered, and clearly having taken time and resources to make sure he’s at his best.
Yes, one of them is the one you want on your side during a catastrophe, but, that’s really not anywhere approaching a long-term healthy lifestyle. Even as herculean as Shiro is, he’s gonna burn himself out a long time before Lance does, because Lance understands that while the last-gasp ‘wake up from a coma to shoot the guy hassling your friends and damn your internal injuries’ stunts have a place and a value, if that happens more than once you should look at how many times something blows up on you.
And that’s really important to me, because emotions and nurturing are seen as stereotypically feminine traits- and because of that, a lot of boys and men are denied that. What are you, some kind of wuss who needs emotional care? (Spoiler: you are. Everyone is.) This amazing, important, heroic quality is seen as worthless- and that happens big time with characterizing Lance! I’ve heard people say he did absolutely nothing when it was his intervention and his virtues in s4e6 that let Allura awaken her powers that went on and saved everybody. Lancey Lance did that!
TL;DR Lance and Shiro are both amazing people, and very different people, and as someone who loves both of them, I want the qualities they have to be respected, rather than misattributed to other people or ignored.

Trollhunters Episode 4 Pt. 1
Draal x OC This is based on the first half of episode 4 however, since this is from River’s POV this will be mostly ‘behind the scenes.’ Thank you for reading!
Episode 1
Episode 3 Pt2
Episode 4.2
I watched as Draal stood, growling lowly at Jim. “5 days,” he snarled, “we will fight in the forge.” He turned, huffing through his nose blowing out a cloud of steam. He walked out, head held high, nodding slightly to me as he passed. I tilt my head in recognition, debating on following Draal to ask what happened. As I stepped to follow after him, I was suddenly lifted from the ground and into a group hug with Toby and Jim, Aaarrrgghh had already caught them.
Blinky clapped two of his four hands, grinning up at us, “Excellent, Master Jim! We should start your trying right away if you are to defeat Draal!”
Aaarrrgghh laughed deeply as he walked out of the bar before setting Jim, Toby, and I down again.
I shrugged, “Think of it more as a really sharp wand.”
Blinky held his hands out, “May I?” I smile and place the lance in his hands. He tests the weight, swinging it slightly before looking over the sapphire veining closely. “Incredible Lady River! You made the gems for this?”
I nod, reaching into my black satchel and grabbing the extra gem I took, not the one that looks like Draal’s crystalline back. I hand it to Blinky, taking my lance back. “You should see the one in the center of the Heartstone. I went a little overboard.”
Blinky inspects the gem closely before handing it back. “I will once Jim’s training is finished for the day, thank you Lady River.”
I nod then notice Toby’s eyes are locked on the crystal now in my hand, I chuckle before handing it to him. “I thought you could add this to your collection.”
Toby grins taking the crystal, he starts jumping, listing off various gems, trying to place what it could be. Aaarrrgghh taps the stone, smiling “Not normal gem.
Bye Blinky! Bye Aaarrrgghh!” I take off running towards the exit for Trollmarket, keeping my eye out for a certain blue Troll. I frown slightly when I don’t see him, but shrug it off.
A sudden burst of laughter ahead caught my attention. I look up to see Draal, bent over laughing, at the canal exit.
I huff at him, giving him a mock glare, “Oh, come one!
I shake my head, “Nah, Blinky’s gonna have all four hands full trying to keep Jim in line, I doubt he’d be able to handle us both.
After a while of silence, he finally reached up to pat my head, “If asked by anyone else, I would take insult, however, I will consider it.
“I will see you tomorrow then. Good night Draal.” I smile and pat his forearm before heading in.
“Goodnight River,” He called, leaving for Trollmarket.
I quickly grab a granola bar, eating as I head up to my room. I kick off my shoes before crawling under the covers, sitting up long enough to grab the gem I made that resembled Draal’s back and setting it on my nightstand before passing out for the night.
The next morning, I woke up early to do my chores, sweeping downstairs and dusting before Jim wakes up. Once I was done, I rushed upstairs to get ready for the day, I changed into black baggy cargo pants, my combat boots, and a dark purple long sleeve. Grabbing my backpack and satchel, I filtered through everything I needed for school and training. I grabbed my collapsed lance and walked out of my room as Jim’s alarm went off.
Jim yawned, taking his bag, “Thanks Tobes, next time they’re on me.” We ate as we walked to school, having decided to nix the bikes since Toby’s was crushed by Bular’s, and he was too nervous to ride with Jim or me.
“Thank you, Toby!” I grin taking a bite. “Ironic choice since Jim woke up speaking Spanish.”
Toby, “Yeah, we have that comprehension test this week.
I laughed as we walked into the school, “I’ll see you two later, trying not to cause trouble.” I headed off to my art class.
After a long day of classes, I was finally in Senor Uhl’s class, listing to Mary stumble over both her Spanish and English. I cringed, between Senor Uhl’s chalk screeching on the blackboard, and Mary’s terrible story about playing two guys.
“Little did anyone know; Maria was juggling two hombres. Manolo was muy guapo, but Joaquin had muchos musculos.” As Mary spoke, I glanced around the room, glaring as I see Steve harassing Jim.
“You were trying to say ‘pesado.’ ‘A heavy heart.’” He stated, “And it is with a heavy heart, Miss Wang, to tell you, that you have not shown the slightest comprehension of the basic Spanish.” He grabbed the tissue box, holding it out towards her. “If you can’t even finish the exam, I have no choice but to fail you.”
Mary’s face fell, she grabbed a tissue quickly as she began to cry over her failing grade. I sighed, writing down the grade next to her name on a spreadsheet Senor Uhl gave me to record the student’s grades as he focused on listening to their exam.
Toby shook his head, “He just got guilt tripped by Claire for missing rehearsal yesterday.”
“She thinks I’m a jerk!” Jim threw his hands up as we started the walk to the canal.
“Two days in and you’re already skipping.” I shook my head. “How was training last night?”
Toby sighed, “Before or after the gnome stole the amulet?”
Jim groaned, “That’s right, we need one of them gems you made, Blinky said it would help with getting the gnome.”
I nodded, “There’s a few stored in the Heartstone chambers by Vendel’s study, Blinky can grab whichever one he needs.” I pull out a horngazel that Vendel gave me. Opening the entrance and walking through
Jim frowned slightly, “You’re not going to hang out with us? I thought Vendel was giving you a break to train with the lance?” he asked, following me in with Toby.
I smile and nodded, heading down the stone steps, “He is, but you need to train for your fight with Draal, someone offered to teach me how to properly wield the lance.” I state, leaving out the part that I was training with Draal, not sure how happy Jim would be about it.
Toby looked at me confused, “Can’t be Vendel, I don’t think he’s that spry.”
I shook my head, waving them off as the met with Blinky and Aaarrrgghh, “I’ll see you later, good luck with the gnome!” I called, running off to find Draal.
As I made my way through the stalls, I was suddenly hit by something large and wall like from behind. My feet were swept off the floor as whatever ran into me decided to grab me. I quickly grabbed my lance, angling it so the staff would ram into whatever grabbed me as I activated it. As calculated, once I activated the lance, the staff quickly shot back and I was launched out of the grip, landing on my feet about 8 feet forward. Swinging the lance into a defensive position as I turned, ready to face whatever attacked me, and I was met with laughter.
Draal had been my surprise attacker. Though he was laughing, I didn’t sense that he was mocking me. “What the hell Draal? What if I had stabbed you instead?” I asked, pissed at being caught off guard.
Draal clasped his hand, his laughter had died out, but he was grinning. “You weren’t aiming for anything vital, so it wouldn’t have done much harm. I’m impressed at your quick reflexes though. Good to know you’ve got some fight in you too.”
I groaned, realizing why I wasn’t able to find him, and what the other Trolls were looking at me like I was crazy when I had asked for Draal. “You were following me the entire time.”
Draal nods, placing a hand on my back to guide me as we walked. “Since you entered Trollmarket with the Trollhunter and the other fleshbag.”
“Toby,” I remarked, noticing how depending on who Draal was referring to, ‘fleshbag’ either sounded endearing, usually towards me, or annoyed, Toby and Jim.
Draal snort, “Right, To-bee.” He drawled out on purpose, smirking down at me. “We’ll be training in the caverns since you haven’t told the Trollhunter I was training you, I figured the forge wouldn’t be available.” He stated a slight irritation in his tone.
I sighed, “Sorry, he knows we get along, but with the outburst in the bar, and your fight coming up, I don’t know how he’d react.”
Draal hummed, leading me into the caverns, large dark caves only illuminated by the glowing gems embedded in the walls. “You are worried he will disapprove.”
I snort a laugh, “Hell no, I just don’t want to psych him out.”
Draal smirked at my answer, seeming to be in a better mood. We stopped in a large cave, a little smaller than the forge. It was well lit compared to some of the other caves we had traversed through. Draal motioned for me to face him, pulling out a training staff. “Mimic my movements.” He started out by holding the staff in both hands parallel to the ground at arm’s length.
I quickly dug the end of the lance into the ground as Draal was a few feet away, closing in fast, and I vaulted myself over him, swinging the lance around to whack his side with the staff end, landing behind him.
Draal landed on his feet and grabbed his side where I had hit, then cheered turning to me, “Well done River! Similar to your evasion of my surprise attack earlier.” He nodded to himself, going over the maneuver again.
I dropped to sit on the floor, chest heaving, covered in sweat. “Thanks, Draal. You’re a really good trainer, I’m surprised how far I’ve gotten.”
Draal smirked and sat next to me, “You need a break. We’ve been training since the sun was up.”
I grin, flopping back on the ground, looking up at him. “Thank Deya! I’m exhausted!” My stomach growled and I groaned.
Draal barked a laugh, “Looks like you’ll need to move or your stomach will keep screaming.” He poked my stomach as it growled again. I yelped whacking his hand away quickly. Draal frown, “You can’t be injured, you never sustained a blow to that side of your torso.”
I huff, hugging over my stomach before he could decide to prod and look for injuries, “I’m not hurt, that just tickled.”
“Tickled? What is tickled?” Draal had a look of utter confusion etched over his face.
I tilt my head to face him, trying to explain what tickling is, “Well, being ticklish means that when you’re touched certain ways, it sets of nerves and you get this feeling under your skin, your skin jumps, but in a really weird way it's not a bad feeling. People’s reactions vary though. Some people laugh uncontrollably, others kick and punch, trying to get away from the tickling.”
Draal’s face was etched in morbid curiosity as he looked from his fingers to my stomach again. “Why do fleshbags have such weaknesses?” He begins to poke at my leg when he doesn’t get a reaction, he pokes my arm. When I fail to react again, he starts poking at my sides that weren’t covered by my arms.
I screech, laughing. Quickly trying to wiggle away from Draal as he continued to poke at my sides. Squirming, tears flowing down my cheeks, and gasping for air, I grapple his arm with my arms and legs, hanging off of it like a sloth. “STOP!”
Draal laughs at my tactic, lifting his arm so I’m dangling in the air. “How is this helping you?”
“Well you stopped, didn’t you?” I stuck my tongue out at him indignantly.
“Careful, you don’t want to lose that.” He smirked as I squeaked, quickly pulling my tongue back.
“Are you threatening to rip or cut my tongue out?” I ask in mock disdain.
“Um Draal, I can walk.”
He glanced down at me but made no move to set me down. “You trained well past your limit today. I doubt you’d be able to walk far,” he reasoned. We quickly made it back into Trollmarket, stopping at a stall that had food that was safe for humans to eat. Draal handed the food to me, walking through the market. “Eat this, it might taste like rocks.”
I took the food and began eating quickly, tilting my head at the taste, “not rocks, but nothing I’ve tasted before.” I spoke up. I pulled my phone out to check the time, groaning. “I have to get home, it’s 3am, and I have school tomorrow… well, today.”
Draal nods and heads out of Trollmarket to that canal. “Why do you attend this school, surely you are learning well under Vendel.”
“If I had a choice in the matter, I would love to run off to Trollmarket and focus on magic studies, but as I grew up human, well, we are forced to attend learning institutions until we are 18 years old, and if we don’t, we can get into trouble.”
“You said you could leave at 18 years of age, how old are you currently?”
“17, I’ll be 18 soon though. I’ve been thinking, Vendel said I would begin to age like a troll, would that mean I wouldn’t be able to stay around humans for long?” I asked Draal.
He hummed, thinking for a moment, “It depends on how long it takes for the fleshbags to notice you aren’t changing as fast. Worried? It's not like you won’t have anywhere to go.”
Draal shook his head, “You are more Troll-like, than you are human. You were recognized and taken in by the leader of Trollmarket, you study the arcane under him. The most fearsome warrior in Trollmarket took you under his wing to train you in weaponry,” he smirked, boasting, “and you’ve forged your own weapon in the short amount of time you have been coming to Trollmarket. I’m surprised you haven’t moved there yet.”
I laughed at his boasting, grinning up at him, “Thanks Draal, maybe once I can get away with dropping school, I’ll take you up on that.” I paused, yawning.
Draal had to remind himself that I still didn’t know much about Trollish culture and that I most likely had no idea what I had just done.

Growing Plance
Prompt Twenty-Two: (22 Dec) Narcissus
Ever since they met the Olkari, she had tried communing with nature more, mostly through gardening.
It turned out that, though she piloted the green lion, she had zero green thumbs, but she could learn!
...
Lance observed Pidge as she dumped another pot of withered biomatter and dirt into space.
"Another rotten batch?" He stepped forward to help her clean up the remains, missing her startled flinch and flustering face.
"Yep..." She threw her gloves off and pulled on her short locks, "I don't get it! Fluorescent lighting matching solar rays, nutrient-rich dirt and fertilizer, I water them regularly, and still everything I plant dies!" She turned away from him as the flush on her cheeks grew slightly brighter.
"Have you tried talking to them? I hear it helps."
"Plants don't have ears, Lance."
"Well, uh, what're you gonna try next? Maybe give it a shot, anyway?"
Pidge sighed, "I think I'm just gonna give up. Clearly I can't garden."
"You can't give up! You're the green paladin! All of you is green, including your thumbs! You just need experience." Never let it be said that Lance was not a supportive friend. That was one of the reasons she had a small crush on The Sharpshooter.
Every chance he got, he'd support Pidge, even if she didn't need it. At times like this, Pidge thought it was a bit annoying.
"Well, it doesn't matter anyway! I'm out of seeds, so..."
Lance smirked at the shorter paladin, holding up a bag, "You're not out of these daffodil seeds," he waved the bag in front of her face.
"Daffodils? Like from earth?"
"Yep, I got them in a market on that last planet. The lady that sold them toe said they meant "New beginnings" or something, but since she was an alien, I'm not sure how reliable that is. Anyway, here," He offered the bag to his glum chum, who took it with a gloomy look on her face.
"And remember," Lance told her as she slumped back toward her chambers, "Talk to it! Plants need communication, just like people!" Pidge turned to smile at him, and she nodded in thanks.
"Or at least," the blue paladin added, murmuring, "That's what that space florist told me..."
...
"... And when he helped me scrounge up money at that space mall..." Pidge went on, speaking animatedly to PM3 -- she gave them IDs to log their growth progress, obviously -- "I had so much fun, especially when we finally got Killbot Phantasm 1. Of course, then we had to actually get a TV as well, and find a way to hook up the console to the ship's power systems..." She sat up and cradled the daffodil in her lap, smiling, "But when we finally got it working we played for hours, and just had so much fun! Plus, he's been really considerate lately, seeming to take more interest in computers and stuff..." Pidge leaned back against the wall, "Although, that might be him finally wanting to learn about it because he's around it so much and is tired of not knowing what we're talking about. But it could be because he likes me back, and I calculate a probability of--"
"Pidge?" Shiro was knocking on her door, "It's time for dinner... And, uh, are you talking to someone?"
"NO!"
"Really? I could've sworn--"
The green paladin slammed her door open with rosy cheeks, "I WAS TALKING PLANCE! I MEAN--TO MY PLANTS!"
Her leader blinked at her, confused, before lighting up with recognition, "Oh, so you haven't given up gardening? I'm proud of you. You're usually so impatient with nature. But, uh, talking to plants...?"
"Lance said it might help." Pidge grinned wryly, "And so I've, uh, started an experiment with my daffodils." She gestured to the first of the three pot.
"PM1 gets no sounds, just the standard treatment," PM1 was in a pot labelled such and sat under a fluorescent lamp. The plant seemed weak and small, and the leaves looked pale. "She's my control." Shiro nodded hesitantly.
"PM2," She moved on to the middle flower, petals gloomily slumping and stalk leaning to the side. "I exchange pleasantries with, saying 'Hi' and 'Good night,' and occasionally I'll tell her about my day or something... She's a sort of benchmark to see how much effort is needed."
The third and final sapling stood proud in it's abode, and strong stem protruded from the ceramic where it lay on Pidge's bed, bright leaves and petals seemed to glisten in the fluorescent lighting and mock the other two.
"PM3, I talk to her almost as much as I talk to you guys. She is the main test group, and after all this time, she's really flora-shing!" The shorter paladin giggled at her own joke while praising her 'favorite.'
"That's great, Pidge. But I gotta ask... What does PM mean?"
The girl froze at the question, standing ramrod straight and staring at the far wall.
"Uh, Pidge... Narcissus. It's PN, not PM... Heh, you must've misheard me."
The two paladins stared at each other for several seconds.
"ANYWAY, didn't you say it was dinnertime?"
"Oh, yeah. So clean up and hurry on down."
"Yes, sir!" The flustered girl pushed Shiro out of the room, then whirled on her precious plants when he was out of earshot.
In a fierce whisper, she spoke to PM3, "Pidge McClain III. Not. One. Word."
