A/N: This has been on my mind for some time now.
Tumblr media
Choso was honest when he told you he didn't have much experience but he also told you he didn't mind that you had more. Actually he looked eager to learn from you, he wanted to know every way he could pleasure you and that you can pleasure him. He had masturbated before, so he thought he knew what he was getting into when you slid down his body and wrapped your hand around his girthy dick and started pumping it up and down.
His face contorted in a frown but not a displeased one. His pale face made it impossible for him to hide how hard he was blushing as he watched your hand move. And the moment your lips touched the mushroom tip of his cock he threw his head back. "Ah! Fuck, baby!" You smiled against his length as you took him in inch by inch. "Baby, that feels... that feels... so good..." Choso stammered out, his eyes hazy with lust. "You're swallowing everything, my whole damn dick is in your mouth." He said like he couldn't believe it. And part of him couldn't. Until now these were all just wet dreams for him.
Your lips formed a tight seal around his cock, dragging up so slowly, and easing back down. You stopped for a second when your nose would reach his pubes and you'd feel his hands shaking on the back of your head as you swallowed around him.
"Feels good doesn't it, my good boy." You praised him as you pushed your tits and let his wet cock slide in between them. His hips jolted, "Hm? You want to fuck my tits, fuck your cock into my mouth?" You smirked as your tongue lapped at the sensitive head.
"I... want to, yes, I want to feel your fucking mouth taking me in." Choso almost demanded as he pushed your head down again, his moan pushing past closed lips as you sucked on the tip while massaging his length.
There wasn't that much of his cock that you could take in while also giving him a boobjob but Choso didn't seem to mind. He gasped every time, pushing his hips upwards, growling when you'd pull away for more than a few seconds.
Feeling his cock getting hotter you pinched your nipples while you had him in your mouth. The moan you made caused Choso to lose it, he gasped in surprise as a heavy rush of cum assaulted your mouth. Your eyes widened and you pulled back, coughing a bit and eyes closed shot as more of the sticky fluids shoot out, making a mess of your face.
"Oh my- fuck, shit, sorry!" Choso stammered out a quick apology but he didn't seem to want to clean you up. He looked at your cum-stained face and boobs like he was mesmerized. Awestruck.
"It's fine, Choso. It happens. You're a virgin after all, it's normal to be a bit more sensitive in the beginning." But that only made him frown. Were you implying that he's just average? That wouldn't do at all.
Choso tched at his softening cock and wrapped his hand around it, way too tightly. "I'm not done yet. Give me just a bit and I'll be up and ready to fuck your pussy like you deserve." But he hissed and frowned deeper with every stroke of his hand.
"Choso stop, it's fine, you don't need to-" He glared at you, teeth clenched and face a mix of anger and insecurity.
"I do, I do need to. I want to fuck you... I want to have sex with you and I just... blew my whole load like a fucking- fuck!!" His hand moved faster and faster on his soft cock, trying to make himself hard again.
"Stop. Stop!" You had to pull his wrist away and straddle him to get in his way. Choso whimpered when your wet pussy, hot pussy slid against his cock. "If you keep doing that you could hurt yourself. I'm not mad at you, or disappointed, or anything like that. It's normal that you don't get hard right away after coming like that. Don't force yourself. I'm happy to cuddle with you until you can go again. More than happy." And you emphasized that by leaning down and kissing him, first on his lips, then on his forehead, a much softer kiss. "If you are worried about that I know some things we can do to work on your stamina. Maybe use some toys too, those are always fun. What do you think."
Choso huffed and almost seemed to out. "Fine." You chuckled at his demeanor. He could be so damn childish sometimes. "But I still want a second go at you when my dick gets hard again."
"A second? Oh you're adorable. I plan to keep you up all night." For the first time since you knew him Choso looked absolutely stunned at your words.

I honestly just wanted one single plot step that I could not predict given the 10 year wait. More behind the cut, I talk about Emet too, and I'm comparing his writing favorably to Solas' writing and why it worked better for me personally, but I am just talking about the writing skill that went into the games and not the dudes themselves, I love them both dearly of course. idk this is a mess and I am not going to edit it for clarity
For me, the game was a series of me saying
"ok I knew that. cool."
"oh yeah, I knew that. I guess it's good that the larger fandom knows about that now."
"nice, but yeah I already knew that too"
"that was something we've been talking about a lot for years"
"this thing they are acting like is a huge enormous reveal that the characters could not possibly have deduced through simply thinking about it in depth over the 10 years... the fans easily figured out by thinking about it in depth 10 years ago. So you would think his girlfriend would be able to figure it out more easily than we did. Like, why couldn't the game have been like 'oh lavellan already figured that out a while ago' it would have cost them nothing"
"this is something I've been thinking about for years, and now that it's being revealed, the companions' reactions to it are very irritating and jarring and unnecessary and I really dislike the experience I'm having right now, in this, the hour of my greatest triumph"
"this thing that is happening on my screen right now is something that I wrote an essay about 2 years ago describing how it would be a letdown if it happened without the correct setup"
"this way that they're characterizing Solas makes him less likable and less interesting than I have been finding him for all these years, and I have had people tell me 'no, he's simpler than you think' for years but I guess I was wrong, he really is simpler than I thought, so that fucking sucks. I wish I could take that information out of my brain."
"this thing is a retcon of information I have been thinking about for 10 years, and so I don't know how to follow along with this new direction, and I'm not sure if I even want to because it's not particularly interesting anyway"
"aw that was sweet"
"why is it like, so very impossible to have an honest back-and-forth with my favorite character about the dilemma that was most interesting to me about the previous game"
and then, as soon as, like, the other fans had caught up to the Solas lore that was really obvious from the other games, the game was.... over without anything surprising happening, or introducing a new element or plot point or perspective, or a real true twist (or two, or three) for those of us who have thought about it too hard for too long. It was very simple and easy, much, much, much, much easier than I was imagining. It all felt sort of like that Nicholson quote:
Tumblr media
The thing was, the whole story was so interesting to think about because in 10 years, I couldn't figure out a good solution to it!!!!! It's why I was never able to write post-game fanfic about it. So I was stoked to find out some reveal we never knew about, some new information, in maybe a SERIES of steps of new information, that made the situation more complicated but also something that could be navigated by everyone involved. I know it was asking for a lot, but they had TEN YEARS, and they seemingly had set up the things they did in DAI on purpose, so surely they had some idea of a complex and satisfying narrative that would reconcile everyone.
The reason why I was expecting this is because FFXIV did a very similar story arc, which was started AND concluded WITHIN those 10 years (so it took the FFXIV team far less time to deliver as well). And the conclusion to the story in FFXIV did what I was expecting Dragon Age to do. So I thought, "holy shit, if this is the FFXIV version of this plot, how much more complicated is DA4 going to be!?!?" The DA devs also PLAYED FFXIV so they were completely aware, several years ago, of a satisfying story ending that was pretty darn similar.
People are probably going to think "oh, well Chelsea was disappointed because she spent too much time building it up in her head" but that's exactly it - I actually speculated and thought about FFXIV's story IN DEPTH NONSTOP for a year+ before its ending came out, and the ending absolutely blew me away. FFXIV Endwalker managed to introduce information and new story elements that I was not able to figure out in the YEAR I spent speculating on the ending of FFXIV's story. It took a complicated situation and revealed several several more facets to it that I was not able to predict, but were very interesting and thematically compelling, and took us all to surprising and climactic places that we could not have predicted.
Endwalker ("end" is in the title on purpose) too, was written to be THE ULTIMATE SATISFYING ENDING for a very long-running story in the exactly way that Veilguard SHOULD HAVE for Dragon Age, so while this complexity is being explored, FFXIV also gave catharsis to many different plot threads that have been built up through the previous expansions, until finally it ends with a bang. The story is desperately good to me, I loved it, it gave me closure for Dragon Age long before Veilguard was even revealed, and going back and looking at its story has made this whole thing far less painful for me.
So, I actually did not have a picture in my mind for how things SHOULD go. I just had the thought "I hope it's complicated and there are points of view or facts that we haven't before been exposed to, and the situation is resolved respectfully for Solas, not making him look like a fucking idiot (lol, the only thing I asked for). I don't even care what happens to Solas and Lavellan, I just need the story to be complicated and interesting to think about. Please, god, don't let it be "solas is wrong and he just needs to be convinced" because that's like the simplest story you could tell with this setup"
(btw they managed to tell Emet-Selch's story without making him seem like he's being an idiot on purpose or can never get anything right, and in fact the more the story goes on, the more you think of him as smart and capable and cool, so it is possible to write.... I wasn't asking for the entire moon)
And I played it and... yeah. Most of the story beats were more simple than I wanted them to be, a lot of them didn't make sense in my heart given the writing from Inquisition. (This is another essay, but if Solas' thematic story arc was always about him needing to let go of regrets, why was his personal quest the way it was? After that quest, doesn't he end up regretting not doing more....? Why did he never really talk about regret during Inquisition? If he was so trapped by regret, why was he able to do so many actions? It doesn't mesh well to me. The whole regret thing was very quarter-baked to me, I don't even like thinking about it.) His story never seemed like one that was as simple as being about one man's regrets, but then, I guess, it was always just about one man's regrets.
Emet-Selch's personal storyline (and the way it interacts with and affects the larger story) is very similar but much more cohesive and satisfying to me. It would be difficult to explain why without the aforementioned 5-hour essay. Emet-Selch's story IS about grief and anguish on a world-shaping scale in a similar way that Solas' was apparently always about letting go of regret, but Emet's story was also very pointedly and beautifully about that one theme for the entirety of his story from every tiny detail, from beginning to end - meanwhile, it seemed to me that they tried to introduce 'regret' as the main thrust of Solas' story only in the short story with the Regret demon onward.
From Inquisition just by itself, the closest I personally could get to a story theme for Solas was his inability to trust others hurting him and the world, but his trusting others in DA4 wasn't really addressed to my satisfaction. He is never required to trust anyone before the ending, he never opens up or makes himself vulnerable at all. People find out information about him, he never really dynamically opens himself. So the personal story I thought he had was never addressed at all, while a new one about regret was introduced that never made a ton of sense to me. And I don't think this is just because of my expectations - my reaction to FFXIV proves that I am able to meet good writing where it goes in surprising directions, as long as it's interesting and thoughtful and clear.
And I think this might be part of what people felt was off about the ending - Solas is sort of uninvolved in the revelations that are about him, and doesn't do much to be part of his own ending. Part of what I loved about Solas in Inquisition is that he is not controlled by you in any way, and so he feels like his own person with a very strong sense of character.
Anyway, Emet-Selch, in a very comparable and arguably more extreme plot position, is very involved in the revelations about himself, he always feels like a very strong character who cannot be affected by the player, and the whole situation is handled with deft emotion and care and delicacy. The story is comparatively very uninterested in litigating Emet-Selch or putting him on trial - the story allows you to simply feel the way that you feel in an organic way, and Emet's story spends that energy instead actually exploring his thematic material about grief and legacy, and the larger story theme of existentialism instead, in a way that is very refreshing and interesting. I've seen a lot of western stories tie themselves in knots over "redemption" and frankly it's almost never been interesting at all. Who cares about any of that. lol
(Now, I guess this is a matter of preference, because some people really like being able to shape a character's story, but idk I rewatched the ending of FFXIV and even though there wasn't a choice with Emet, because it isn't a branching story, his story felt more satisfying to me, maybe because there isn't a patronizing choice to be made for him. He is who he is, and he fulfills a very beautiful narrative role and purpose that no other character could in the story.)
I don't know how this could have been improved to me and still allowed players to choose Solas' ending for him, but I can actually think of a few different methods, none of which involve Rook condescendingly and patronizingly lecturing Solas as if Solas had never thought about a single aspect of this horrible situation he's in before that very moment that Rook lectures him lmfao.
All this to say... idk I'm writing this and I am not going back to edit it so it's stream-of-consciousness. But yeah
I just wanted the story to be complicated on a few more levels than I could have predicted. I genuinely don't care what happened, but I thought of a few twists like the Veil coming down and yeah, I was expecting A Single Twist or reveal to happen. In a Dragon Age game.
I wanted Solas to seem cool and capable and noble and smart, and actually feel like he was as old and experienced as he is.
I wanted a clear theme I could sink my teeth into
Like notice I didn't even say anything about Solavellan. Like I never in 100 years thought they were getting a happy ending where they were both alive in bodies, and I like that we got that, but I would honestly trade it for a more complicated story. To me, if a story is sad you can always write fanfic, but if a story isn't COMPLICATED, that's a much more urgent issue.
These 3 things DA4 didn't give me in a way that satisfied me but FFXIV did. anyway idk the way my hyperfixations work, I completely switch to a new subject so talking about Dragon Age is actually hard for me right now.

"Growing Feelings Poured Into Chocolate" Collection Event
Nica Schwartz
Tumblr media
This is a fan-made translation solely for entertainment purposes with no guaranteed perfection; expect mistakes, grammatical errors, and some creative liberties. All original content and media used belongs to Cybird. Please support the game by buying their stories and playing their games. Reblogs appreciated.
Read this before interacting
If you're not new to Nica, you'd know that he calls MC (Kate) "Robin" in German, instead of the usual Komadori. Since I see that the fandom has generally accepted "Spatzi" as the German translation for it, I'll be using that as well and typing it in italics so it's clear he's not saying it in English.
???: Spatzi.
Kate: Whoa!
While I was walking down the corridor, an arm suddenly wrapped around my abdomen from behind.
Nica: You didn't notice when someone's sneaking up on you. You're seriously lacking in awareness, don't you think?
Kate: Please let go of me.
I struggled and flailed about, but—
Kate: Ah!
Tumblr media
Nica: What's this?
Nice snatched the box I was holding and examined it curiously.
Nica: Are these sweets? Handmade, perhaps?
Kate: They're chocolates.
Nica: Chocolates?
Nica: Is this a Valentine's thing?
Kate: That's right, but…
(I kind of didn't expect that reaction.)
With how knowledgeable Nica usually was, I didn't expect him to look that puzzled about a big occasion like Valentine's Day.
Nica: You must be thinking my reaction's unexpected, aren't you?
Kate: Yes, I assumed you took the chocolates knowing exactly what they were.
Nica: Valentine's Day isn't a thing in Germany, so can you really blame me?
Kate: Really?
Finally letting go of me, Nica leaned against the wall with his gaze fixed on me.
Nica: I know about Valentine's Day as a concept.
Nica: But since it doesn't exist in Germany, it never felt like something familiar.
The unexpected revelation surprised me.
I reached for the box, but he dodged me effortlessly.
Tumblr media
Nica: You get gifts for a special someone on Valentine's Day, right?
Kate: That's correct, but uhh…
He grinned widely and spoke.
Nica: So, Spatzi , who were you planning to give these chocolates to?
Kate: That's—
For some reason, Nica's face was the first one I could think of when I was making the chocolates—
(But we're neither lovers nor family.)
Our relationship was Crown's Fairytale Keeper and her guest, Nica, from Germany.
(Besides, I think someone like him would receive plenty of chocolates from other women.)
Even as I tried to rationalise my thoughts, knowing how popular he was with women, I couldn't find the courage to give him the chocolates.
I decided to just eat them myself instead, and that was when—
He suddenly grabbed my arm.
When I looked up at him, I was met with his grinning face.
Tumblr media
Nica: I asked who you were planning to them to if not me.
The pressure in his words made my breath hitch in my throat, leaving me at a loss for words.
Seeing this, he gave me an awfully cold look.
Nica: Forget it if you're not going to answer.
He released my arm and started walking away, but I hurriedly went after him.
Kate: — I was going to give them to you, Nica!
Nica stopped in his tracks at the end of the corridor and turned back to face me.
Nica: Should've said so from the start, Kate.
The moment he flashed me that sweet smile of his, it hit me.
Kate: … You knew all along and did that on purpose, didn't you?
Nica: Of course I did. It's because I knew no matter how long I waited, you wouldn't say you made them for me.
Looking thoroughly satisfied, he picked up one of the chocolates from the box.
Nica: Can I eat one?
Kate: … I'm not sure if it'll suit your tastes, though.
Nica: Don't mind if I do.
I watched nervously as he popped the chocolate into his mouth—
Nica: Mm, it's delicious.
Kate: Really?
Nica: Why don't you try one yourself if you don't believe me?
I reached for a piece at his suggestion—
Nica: Nope, you can't do that. Because you've given them to me.
Kate: Then how am I supposed to—
Nica: Like this.
Nica wiped the chocolate from his lips and smeared it onto mine.
Nica: Go on, taste it.
Leaning in close to my ear, he let out a soft chuckle.
Nica: But if you lick it… it'll be an indirect kiss.
The sweet scent of chocolate, his teasing whisper, and the heat spreading from where he touched me on the lips blended together.
Nica: What will you do, Kate?
Before the chocolate on my lips melted, I felt like I might melt because of him first instead.

ah shitting on a new link click season
I've seen this before
drink your bournvita and go to sleep
honestly, now I know that even sensible people lose their mind if they are extremely active in twitter, it rewires your brain for the worse maybe
can you unearth the amount of literary allusion, cinematography, their basic significance and the plethora of other things yingdu has given? as a literature major who has a keen interest in 'literature and (it's relationship with) other arts (and cultural studies)' let me tell you, it takes a trained scholar to understand the nuance of artistic representation beyond the popular grip of 'plot'. It's not even the advanced theories rather it's the clear idea about the basics of artistic representation that differentiates an ignorant viewer and a critical thinker.
Then anybody would be directing donghuas, movies and what not.
"fan theories were better" so write then? see where it goes and what it signifies in the long run? Every artist has a vision and the plot is a vehicle to achieve that vision, not the other way around.
Just wanna roughly quote a renowned filmmaker : when you are a (classical) music enthusiast, you need to know the basics before joining a circle of other enthusiasts. when you are a literature lover, you have to have a sense of contemporary literary criticism. every 'hobby' needs some prerequisite knowledge. but you know what? if you have money in your pocket, you can go and watch a movie and boom, you are a cinema critic!
cheap internet access has done the same thing. and about popular media...if you are feeling that ' fanservice ' is diluting the plot, think twice because it's very hypocritical to be in a fandom (even being into shipping stuff) and getting surprised (like a genteel Victorian gentleman) at fanservice. Fanservice is the DEMAND of popular media. If you all were so much into serious stuff, the beautiful cinematography of 'the eye' should have been a dominant discourse now. And many other things.
season 1 and 2 had many weird lines for 'apparently' no reason at all, some things are very weird (and to some extent felt creepy to me), now pick them and bash them.
I am very critical of link click, and I absolutely DO NOT mind shitting on link click's weak points if one has solid and sound points. Link Click has so much potential and that's why it has immense pressure of not fucking up.
I perceive link click as a show the way I perceive lu guang as an individual. if you listen to my lu guang rants, you will wanna slap me for I'm brutally critical of lu guang I almost sound like a hater. but I still love him beyond belief.
shit on link click and please invite me too but please don't be dumb

Besides the Viv situation, Gooseworx has personally created better demon OC designs than Viv could ever come up with
After TADC is finished and since Goose has been vocal about it only having one season I fully believe fans won’t have an issue with it. Her other personal works are so interesting that they’ve already have fanarts and she will likely remain popular even after the show ends. If she ever makes an official comic featuring them it would definitely achieve the same level of popularity
Coming from someone who has known Gooseworx long before TADC released its trailer I'm so happy to see more fans getting interested in her personal work Just look at these characters!!
https://www.tumblr.com/gooseworx/759972522780459008/heres-a-backlog-of-various-arcwell-things-because?source=share
They're so good I can't wait to see more of them in the future and she showed just four panels that are more compelling than the entire Hellaverse combined
Excuse my simping but the Lich, Dilf demon and that fem guy demon have way hotter and sexier designs than those two-inch-waist twinks. I wouldn't be surprised if Goose made a official comic introducing them and it became a major success while Vivziepop secretly stews in jealousy. Especially since demons are supposed to be her thing yet Goose is out here doing it better
(Knowing Goose has composed soundtracks for Viv’s shows and has gained way more popularity with TADC plus after reading those screenshots of what she said to Dana I wouldn’t be surprised)
Well said Anon.
I agree, and also THATS what those lil drawings were for?! they looked sick af, ive seen them on my fyp before, but didnt know what they were for.
my only apprehension with this is,
"After TADC is finished and since Goose has been vocal about it only having one season I fully believe fans won’t have an issue with it."
Do you remember how the Murder Drone fandom acted when Liam said this exact same thing and to this day, people are still begging him to make another seasons or series of murder drones.
I ofc believe Goose is gonna STAY popular and that will def make Viv seethe, im more worried about the pressure some of the fans put Goose and Liam and even Dana under for their indie projects.
OFC whatever Dana and Goose make ill end up loving regardless, they are so fucking talented it make me want *explode.mp4*
thanks for the ask Anon

Chapter 1: 1. Vocal chords + 21. Put on display [Warriors]
Word count: 1,506
Next >> (coming soon)
Inspiration: Idolatry by @tashacee and @a-manicured-lawn
----------
Surprise! I'm trying to do Febuwhump this year! :D
I'll be honest, there is like 90% chance I won't be able to finish it in February, but I'm determined to try and do just that.
Be gentle, I normally spend 10 times as long to write stuff as I will for this month.
Current plan is to write 17 chapters for 28 prompts. We'll see how it goes :D The main theme is: "Eh… close enough."
Warriors was about to spin to face the monster again, a snarl already venting his frustration at the magic hurling menace, but his legs refused to move. All the training drilled into him told him to not take his eyes off of the enemy, so despite the alarm bells ringing in his head the first instinct he had was to try and twist again to keep it in his field of vision as it moved behind him. Only when that attempt failed as well, he spared a quick glance down to check what was happening.
His feet were gray.
Gray, like the clouded sky the Chain was fighting under, the one he came to know so well.
Gray, like the heavy mist clinging to the streets and buildings, limiting his already small world to merely a few feet in front of him.
Gray, like the wall of rain relentlessly pouring from the weeping skies, trying to steal his nonexistent warmth.
His feet were gray, like the stone tiles beneath them.
And it was spreading.
He watched, petrified, as the grayness reached the top of his boots, covered his shins, and climbed to his knees. The overwhelming panic locked his throat, his mind, narrowing his vision to the slow climb of ashy paleness, draining the royal blue of his uniform.
With it came the unmistakable numbness that still hunts his every waking and dreaming hour, the kind that came from his muscles ceasing to exist in favour of cold marble, that iced his blood, froze his nerves, left no sensation behind, not even pain.
Except for the cold.
He was already so cold .

I'm tagging @sroloc--elbisivni with this, being the person directly if unintentionally responsible for my recent descent into madness, aka the One Piece Fandom.
I've so far managed to percolate three story ideas.
First is a short and sweet wingfic, in which all the various Will of D folks get wings to go along with the name. Some plain, some colorful, some big, some small, it's a mixed bag. My one and only certainty for who gets what kind of bird-association is Garp + turkey, as I've been socked in the jaw by one of those before, and believe me those suckers pack a lot of muscle in their limbs.
Anywho. Recall that scene where young Sabo makes a comment about Monkey D. Luffy, and Portgas D. Ace? And it's all innocent laughter when the Sa D. Bo joke gets made, but there is an earnest "because you're our brother" emotion running underneath? Well, guess who wakes up the next morning with the itchiest shoulders ever, and by lunchtime is sprouting his own little pair of fledgling wings. ASL Brother feels all the way around.
My other two ideas are... significantly more ambitious.
Also slightly spoiler-y, if you aren't up to date on things, so we'll continue this under a cut:
Idea the first: Major Canon Divergence, making use of the recently revealed Figarland Shamrock, because I can't not jump on the boat of Luffy seeing him and momentarily mistaking the man for Shanks.
Except this happens when he's still fairly little.
And it's quite a thing, to be a Celestial Dragon used to fawning or terror or simple obedience from the lower masses, who for a brief moment happens to make eye contact with a little slip of a boy being put up for sale as a slave, only to be promptly hit by a beaming expression as bright as the very sun itself. Just for a moment, before someone cuffs Luffy on the ear or shoves his head back down, but it's more than enough to catch Shamrock's surprised attention. And of course, the first moment he's able, Luffy goes darting up to this man delightedly hooting I knew you'd come save me! Emotions overtake any form of logic. Shamrock decides he's keeping this one. And it isn't until later, maybe minutes, maybe hours, before his cloak shifts and his left arm is revealed, and it suddenly hits Luffy that oh. This isn't Shanks playing dress up and fooling everyone. Oops?
I've yet to make a firm decision on exact circumstances and timing, but this is definitely after Sabo's (presumed) death. Ace throws one hell of a conniption fit and immediately launches into a rescue effort, managing to steal a boat and make it off Dawn Island. One furious pre-teen isn't quite enough to take on the whole world, though, no matter how desperate he is - so it's just as well Ace happens to cross paths with the Revolutionary Army, and in particular one Monkey D. Dragon, and even more in particular the scarred blonde boy who's been learning at his knee for a while now.
Shanks is eventually drawn into things, as well as Garp, who nearly had a heart attack when he realized both of his grandsons went missing and needed to be retrieved, and no it doesn't help to know that one(-actually-make-that-two) are with his son, the most wanted man in the world!
I can picture quite clearly in my mind a bold confrontation via Shanks and a sneaky infiltration via Ace and Sabo culminating in a daring escape via everyone else, with Luffy very happy to be away from the Shanks-imposter, wailing about it afterward at top volume while insisting no he isn't crying. Lots of hugs all around. Lots of arguments, too, while the adults try to decide what is and isn't best for the boys and their safety going forward, but that's another matter.
And of course I wouldn't be me if I weren't also drumming up a big Everyone Goes Back in Time fic.
I'm leaning towards the idea of a Memory Maelstrom, a fierce storm that spins up anytime it likes, anywhere along the Grand Line; possibly caused by some remnant of the Void Century, hence very little in the way of concrete knowledge from either ancient records or modern day studies. What is known is that anyone who sails into the Maelstrom may find themselves waking up somewhere else entirely, some time else entirely. Be it a few days, perhaps a few weeks, but with memories leading up to entering the storm - which then leaves them with opportunities to change things. Sometimes it only affects a single person; sometimes entire crews awaken with advance knowledge, and use it for good or ill. The only certain thing is, a person affected by the Maelstrom once will never be able to find it again.
Now, anyone with the Will of D gets caught up in the Maelstrom? Amplification occurs. Days or weeks can become months or years; entire crews being affected can extend to entire fleets. History can be altered not just for an individual, but for the whole world.
An ailing Gol D. Roger who never turned himself over to the Marines once sailed into the Maelstrom, fleeing pursuers with a damaged ship, the blood of half his crew still drying upon the planks, including teenage Shanks who died trying to protect toddler Ace. The storm worked its power. A different path was chosen.
Another time, a version of Monkey D. Dragon who kept Luffy close, raising him in the heart of the Revolution, also sailed into the Maelstrom - intentionally, with a small cold body cradled in his arms. Again, new choices became possible.
This time?
This time the Thousand Sunny is caught up by the storm, along with multiple other ships and crews, all of them more focused on battling each other than the howling wind and oddly colored lighting.
It turns out that Gear 5 induces an even bigger amplification effect than usual.
Over thirteen years in the past, a lot of people wake up, and immediately groan Luffy's name. After which there's a mad scramble to fight, to save, to rescue, to steal, and especially to change.
Various Straw Hat Pirates are back to being children, and either prepare for incoming tragedy or do their best to prevent it. Trafalgar Law gets to keep his Cora-san alive, before taking steps to gather up his crew again. Koby finds himself back on Alvida's ship, thankfully docked at a port, and hightails it either to Garp and the marines or somewhere he expects Luffy to eventually appear.
And speaking of Luffy: he promptly goes tearing off across Dawn Island, and crashes into a very startled Ace, just before Sabo appears coming from the opposite direction. I've decided that For Reasons (namely Luffy being the one to amplify the Maelstrom and Sabo having been in possession of the Devil Fruit that prior was wielded by his brother), the longer he spends in the company of the other boys, the more Ace dreams of the life he'd lived, and the faster he rebuilds a bond Luffy and Sabo have both dearly missed.
(Shanks gets to keep the arm, at least for now. Trade-off being he also gets all three brothers attempting to commandeer his ship in order to go find their respective people and start changing even more things. He'll probably give in about the time some high level pirate shows up looking to murder pre-Straw Hat Captain Luffy.)
SO. Those are my thoughts! We'll see if I actually manage to write any of 'em this century x'D

here i am again thinking about how different tranches of the Dr. Who fandom rate each Doctor's different stories relative to each other. last year (or so) i did a big post analysing @adventure-showdown 's poll of the Tumblr fandom as it compared to the DWM reader's poll. there i examined the overlap of those two groups of fans' top- and bottom-rated stories for each Doctor. it was enlightening!
here i'm gonna further that analysis, with data from tardis.guide. i'm taking this data as of February 1, 2025 - clearly not exactly contemporary with the earlier data sets, but i suspect there will be some interesting trends. i made Venn diagrams. let's dive in.
First Doctor's top/bottom three
All agree: The Time Meddler (top) Tumblr/Tardis Guide: The Romans (top), The Smugglers (bottom) Tardis Guide/DWM: The Dalek Invasion of Earth (top), The Web Planet (bottom) Just Tumblr: The Edge of Destruction (top), The Crusade, The Savages (bottom) Just Tardis Guide: Galaxy 4 (bottom) Just DWM: The Daleks' Masterplan (top), The Sensorites, The Space Museum (bottom)
Tumblr media
In 1's top and bottom three, there's only one story that all three sources agree should be at one of these extremes: The Time Meddler is in the top three. I'm disappointed to see Galaxy 4 in Tardis Guide's bottom three, the novelisation was an early and important piece of Doctor Who for me. But it's tough with a mostly-missing serial.
Second Doctor's top/bottom three
All agree: The War Games (top), The Dominators, The Space Pirates (bottom) Tumblr/Tardis Guide: The Mind Robber, The Enemy of the World (top), The Krotons (bottom) Just DWM: The Power of the Daleks, Tomb of the Cybermen (top) The Underwater Menace (bottom)
Tumblr media
There is a bit more broad consensus on 2 than on 1. All three sources agree that The War Games is in the top tier, and The Dominators and The Space Pirates are at the bottom. Then, the Tardis Guide user base seems to follow Tumblr's inclinations, ranking The Mind Robber and The Enemy of the World at the top and The Krotons at the bottom (another important novelisation for a younger version of this writer, but alas).
Third Doctor
All agree: The Green Death (top), The Mutants (bottom) Tumblr/Tardis Guide: Death to the Daleks (bottom) Tardis Guide/DWM: Spearhead from Space, Inferno (top), The Monster of Peladon (bottom) Just Tumblr: The Dæmons, The Three Doctors (top), Planet of the Daleks (bottom) Just DWM: The Time Monster (bottom)
Tumblr media
Every Doctor has at least one story that all three sources agree is either at the top or the bottom, and I think that's great! It gives me a sense of a broader view of the fandom's tastes. For 3, it's no surprise that The Green Death is unanimously top-three material and The Mutants bottom-three (though, again, I'm realising I have some anti-mainstream opinions about some of these earlier "bad" serials" - I really liked The Mutants!). Tardis Guide's userbase breaks m ore in the DWM readership's favour regarding most of the rest of the rankings, with Spearhead and Inferno at the top and The Monster of Peladon at the bottom from both of those sources.
Fourth Doctor's top/bottom four
All agree: City of Death, Genesis of the Daleks (top), Underworld, The Power of Kroll (bottom) Tumblr/Tardis Guide: Revenge of the Cybermen (bottom) Tardis Guide/DWM: Meglos (bottom) DWM/Tumblr: Robots of Death (top) Just Tumblr: The Horror of Fang Rock (top), Nightmare of Eden (bottom) Just Tardis Guide: The Seeds of Doom, Shada (top) Just DWM: Pyramids of Mars (top), The Horns of Nimon (bottom)
Tumblr media
It's our first full Venn diagram! There's at least one item populating each section! And it's no surprise with the number of stories this guy has. I don't know what to make of the fact that Tardis Guide lists Shada alongside all of 4's regular TV stories - different methodologies for different folks, i guess. (Psst, there's only one other full Venn in this post - can you guess which Doctor it is?)
Fifth Doctor's top/bottom three
All agree: The Caves of Androzani (top), Time-Flight (bottom) Tumblr/Tardis Guide: Enlightenment (top) Tardis Guide/DWM: Earthshock (top), The King's Demons, Warriors of the Deep (bottom) DWM/Tumblr: The Five Doctors (top) Just Tumblr: Four to Doomsday, The Awakening (bottom)
Tumblr media
There is fairly broad agreement with 5's best and worst. It seems Tumblr is the fly in the ointment here, with our particular dislike of Four to Doomsday and The Awakening. However, all can agree that The Caves of Androzani is great and Time-Flight is less great.
Sixth Doctor
All agree: Vengeance on Varos (top), Timelash, The Twin Dilemma (bottom) Tardis Guide/DWM: Revelation of the Daleks (top) Just Tumblr: Mark of the Rani, Trial of a Time Lord (top), The Ultimate Evil (bottom) Just Tardis Guide: The Mysterious Planet (top), Mindwarp (bottom) Just DWM: The Two Doctors (top), Attack of the Cybermen (bottom)
Tumblr media
6 is probably the most problematic to do this sort of analysis for, because each of the three sources' methodologies differ such that each treats Trial differently: adventure-showdown's Tumblr poll listed Trial as a unit and each individual part separately, Tardis Guide just lists the individual parts, and DWM just listed the full season as one story. A mess. But a delightful mess, just like Sixie himself.
Seventh Doctor
All agree: Survival, Remembrance of the Daleks (top), Delta and the Bannermen, Time and the Rani (bottom) Tumblr/Tardis Guide: Silver Nemesis (bottom) Tardis Guide/DWM: The Curse of Fenric (top) Just Tumblr: The Happiness Patrol (top) Just DWM: Paradise Towers (bottom)
Tumblr media
7's run shows the most cohesion yet, with all three sources agreeing on 2/3 of each of the top and bottom stories in his run. Then it's just a matter of whether you prefer pink TARDISes or wet vampires.
Eighth Doctor
I won't attempt to make a Venn for 8, but I will sum up how his top 10 audio dramas overlap.
Both Agree: The Chimes of Midnight, Scherzo, Solitaire, To the Death, The Red Lady Just Tumblr: Caerdroia, The Natural History of Fear, Zagreus, Storm Warning, The Silver Turk Just Tardis Guide: Albie's Angels, Absent Friends, Lucie Miller, Palindrome - Part 1, Day of the Master - Part 2
A very neat 5/5/5 split here! I can see a definite bias towards 8/Charlie and the Divergent arc in Tumblr's top, whereas the Tardis Guide userbase seems to prefer 8/Liv/Helen and 8/Lucie, and I'm surprised and delighted to see a story from the Eighth Doctor's Time War series!
I may as well do the novels too, one second... Okay, here's how each source ranked their top 5 8DAs.
Both Agree: Alien Bodies, Unnatural History Just Tumblr: Interference, Mad Dogs and Englishmen, The Adventuress of Henrietta Street Just Tardis Guide: The Year of Intelligent Tigers, Vampire Science, Seeing I
Okay back to the TV show.
Ninth Doctor
All agree: Dalek, The Empty Child/The Doctor Dances, Bad Wolf/The Parting of Ways (top), Aliens of London/World War Three, The Long Game (bottom) DWM/Tumblr: Boom Town (bottom) Just Tardis Guide: The Unquiet Dead (bottom)
Tumblr media
I had to make the Venn diagram squishier, that's how much cohesion there is in these three sources' opinions on 9's run! You'll recall that DWM and the Tumblr poll completely agreed on his top and bottom three. The Tardis Guide userbase throws a bit of a wrench in, declaring their dislike of The Unquiet Dead over Boom Town, though I'll note that the latter is fourth from the bottom in the Tardis Guide rankings. I'm really interested in the broad consensus that seems to have formed around 9's stories - they practically don't move in the DWM reader rankings over the past decade plus. I'm curious to see if anything will be re-evaluated in the future.
Tenth Doctor's top/bottom four
All agree: Blink, Midnight, Silence in the Library/Forest of the Dead (top), The Idiot's Lantern, The Lazarus Experiment (bottom) Tardis Guide/DWM: Meglos (bottom) DWM/Tumblr: Love & Monsters, Fear Her (bottom) Just Tumblr: The Fires of Pompeii (top), The Next Doctor, The Shakespeare Code (bottom) Just Tardis Guide: Turn Left (top) Just DWM: Human Nature/The Family of Blood (top)
Tumblr media
While I find the broad agreement around 9 fascinating, I'm equally fascinated by the divergence around 10. This analysis shows that people are inclined to believe that no more than one of the following stories belongs in his top 4: The Fires of Pompeii, Turn Left, and Human Nature/The Family of Blood. Not to say that they're interchangeable, but I think which one you pick can say a lot!
Eleventh Doctor's top/bottom four:
All agree: The Eleventh Hour, Vincent and the Doctor (top), The Doctor, the Widow, and the Wardrobe (bottom) Tumblr/Tardis Guide: Victory of the Daleks (bottom) Tardis Guide/DWM: The Day of the Doctor (top), Nightmare in Silver (bottom) DWM/Tumblr: The Pandorica Opens/The Big Bang (top) Just Tumblr: The Doctor's Wife (top), The Crimson Horror, Night Terrors (bottom) Just Tardis Guide: The Seeds of Doom, Shada (top) Just DWM: Pyramids of Mars (top), The Horns of Nimon (bottom)
Tumblr media
*airhorns* It's our second full Venn diagram! Much like 4, 11 has a lot to choose from and a really wide range of vibe throughout his run. He also has some stupidly long story titles, which are not very highly rated across the board (perhaps there's a correlation? make another graph!). Of note: the Eleventh Doctor is the only incarnation whose first and last stories are both ranked at the top by at least one of the sources (in this case, DWM and Tardis Guide) - except for the Second Doctor, to whom DWM also grants this distinguished position. I just think it's neat!
Twelfth Doctor's top/bottom four
More agreement than 10, less than 9. I like that the three unanimously agreed top stories of the top four are each from different series: Mummy, Heaven Sent, and WEAT/TDF. Also I really need to rewatch Sleep No More - could it be as bad as I remember?
Thirteenth Doctor's top/bottom three
All agree: The Battle of Ranskoor Av Kolos, Orphan 55 (bottom) Tumblr/Tardis Guide: Demons of the Punjab (top) Tardis Guide/DWM: The Haunting of Villa Diodati (top), Legend of the Sea Devils (bottom) Just Tumblr: Eve of the Daleks, Spyfall (top), The Vanquishers (bottom) Just Tardis Guide: Village of the Angels (top) Just DWM: Fugitive of the Judoon, The Power of the Doctor (top)
Tumblr media
And last but not least, 13. It's tough for everyone to come together and say which episodes of hers we all liked, but it's very easy to point at and judge Ranskoor Av Kolos and Orphan 55. I think when the dust has settled a bit more, Demons and Haunting will be more universally praised as the highlights of her run, but opinions are still quite spread out at the moment.
I hope you enjoyed this meta-analysis as much as i enjoyed making a bunch of silly Venn diagrams.

Just about finished scum villain, which means I'm letting myself take a look at the fandom. I thought I was prepared for this- "I've already experienced TGCF and MDZS, how much worse could this be?"
You fool.

Is it a coincidence that Ryan is interacting with weird Christian/trad wife/men and women are different yet need each other/right wing content as buddie canon is seemingly imminent?
anon genuinely. don't do this to yourself friend. you'll never know what's going on in his life and how he feels about it and whether he's in a good place right now, or a bad one. you can only hope for the best, but you'll never have a say in it, and i'd recommend largely ignoring the celebrities' real lives

sorry but like, as someone who doesn't vibe with fem!sub stuff and always ends up dislking fandom obsession with the man in any relationship being a Dominant Daddy Top containing more macho tendencies than personality . . i do also think that framing people liking violence in their sexual fantasies as worrying is um. worrying in and of itself.
like yeah logan being Like That in 'x reader' Old Man Logan stuff seems very ooc to me, too. but i also like animalism and brutality and violence in sex as well, and these things are not inherently abusive or "near rapist" by themselves in fictional portrayals of kink.
i don't hc logan as the macho dom! a lot of fandom for some reason considers "common consensus fanon" lmfao, but i also think that the fine line of fighting and fucking and violence and animalism is something viscerally satisfying to explore in fiction and especially kink. and characters like logan - who do actually have some solid connections to such themes - are some of the best outlets for that.
#anyways i know i joke about “are the straights okay” stuff because fans like to act like it's somehow common#for people to think about the male characters like that#especially when it's a het ship lol#but also it's not actually worrying to post violent sex in and of itself i'm sorry#like if the “violent animalistic” sex is worrying your poor heart then perhaps consider why. that is#like i can't believe i had to see fictional kink described as 'near rape'#logan howlett#wolverine#old man logan#discourse#negative#yes this is a vaguepost no i don't know who it is#in fact i have already forgotten the blog name and i also don't care#but i see this reflected a lot in the younger generation of fandom and it's like. calm down#this stuff is not actually 'worrying'#you don't need to be worrying for these people because of their wild kinky sex fantasies lmfao#like yeah i don't like logan portrayed that way#but that's because i think it's far more appealing to see that raw violence done to him instead#so 🤷#also fighting as fucking is a classic#and violence as transformation and animalism being representative of personal struggle and self id is also classic#and you know what. sometimes its just hot#- when it's done to the man. that is 😉#anyways my hot to take is that logan is a bottom and a switch#and the only reason people say it's '''''obvious'''''' he's a service top is. suprise surprise. gender profiling and internal bias 🤷#with the addition of fanon interpretations of logan overriding his canon personality#like how people project more macho bullshit onto him than he actually possesses lmfao
