I have had a number of visitors confused as to why some of the tantras are scrolls, but others are codex-shaped (particularly those who did not come to read one of said tantras). While I am, of course, willing to explain, many of my visitors are on a tight schedule and I prefer not to cut into their reading time. This image should hopefully clear things up.

hULLO dropping by for daily tobio!nation thoughts PHEW consider chinese period drama kageyama, where he's the 2nd son to the emperor, and a genius war tactician, and yes, even though he's got an older brother, everyone knows that the emperor's got his sights set on tobio to be his next in line -- and then there's you, the only daughter to a beloved warlord, who's father raised you like a son, taught you how to read, raise you on politics and war strategems and always told you that woman should know how to fight just as well as a man. so you grow up with tobio, never thinking twice about sparring with him, about getting the hems of your silks dirty when you both sneak off to the river to catch frogs, but you're older now, and the emperor is pressuring tobio to look for a wife, and a good, demure one who knows the 4 great arts -- 琴棋书画 -- and it's not till he gets frustrated with the parade of pretty, bejeweled princesses before him that he complains to you and blurts out "what if i marry you instead?"

I HAVE SO MANY THOUGHTS. i live and thrive on historical cdramas so, my bread and butter! i have many thoughts floating around right now UGHHH why did you do this to me!! combining two of my roman empires...

first consider the idea of the imperial harem 后宫 there's something so poetic in the doomed love that blooms between someone who is fated to be the emperor and his consort, the heartbreak that slowly sets in soul crushingly because no matter how much you love him, he is the 天子 , the emperor, and he will never be yours alone, historically speaking of course. not to mention that even if he does fall in love with you, it is so easy for a man to just fall for another woman, especially a man with such resources at his disposal as an emperor, the ruler of kingdoms. (again, historically speaking) for context for other people, in ancient china, emperors normally have around 3000 concubines, even though only one holds the title of his official wife 正妻, the queen. out of around 600 emperors and kings in chinese history, only ONE is monogamous.

i am obsessed with this au ughhhhhh it has crossed my thoughts before, but i wasn't sure if people would be interested in reading a fic set in ancient china <//3

TWO, OOOOH with a modern twist, getting into this arrangement with him and thinking it is just a marriage of convenience (once again, mutual PINING, i will DIE ON THIS HILL) and learning to be fine with the way things are (he just wants a wife in name because he wants to get his father off his back about it, thinking that you do not feel the way he does either, OR he realizes his own feelings AFTER the marriage (OH HOW I LOVE HISTORICAL DRAMA PLOTLINES ), never touches you in the way he should as a husband on your wedding night 洞房 because he doesn't wish to tarnish your purity in the case that you find someone you wish to remarry somewhere down the line, he can assure your future husband that your virtue is intact. SLOW BURN ENSUES BETWEEN TWO IDIOTS BLAH BLAH the only monogamous emperor in history kageyama tobio????

she has to have the chain because otherwise old lady junko will steal them.

(junko normally steals her glasses all the time because she does the sexy librarian outfit, kyokyo, quit stealing that from her. (kyoko calmly explains that she isn't stealing anything; she actually needs her glasses, unlike someone.)

the first time junko tried to steal the ones with the chain, kyoko almost choked. no one is happy about this.)

WANTED: CONSULTING ENGINEER OR ELEGIAC POET

Not twenty-four hours after moving into my new quarters, I went to draw a bath after a long day of moving furniture, only to find I had no hot water. Not an unusual occurrence in Hush House, the boilers are old and were damaged in the fire. They've been restored, of course, but they're not without their... quirks...

Nevertheless four days of "quirks" is quite enough. It is cold in the towers this time of year. I am due for a Nice Bath.

Calliope leant down, hair tumbling over her shoulders, and tasted Lucienne’s mirth with her own mouth, savouring it like it was honey, like it was the finest dessert at a queen’s royal table.

(Recommended for those who want to see Johanna be a pathetic little meow-meow and for those who think Kirby Howell-Baptiste might be one of the most beautiful women alive.)

[E] Sea Change by Cafephile (3.1k) (Gault/Lucienne): "What brings you here, Gault? Not that I am not glad of your company," Lucienne hastens to add because it is true, and she would not want the dream to feel unwelcome.

"Are you?" Gault asks. "You never seemed to like me much before."

Gault visits Lucienne in the library to clear the air. They end up doing far more than that.

The day Erica Patel (Ric to everyone except official bureaucracies) learned that, contrary to every rational instinct she had, demons were in fact real and able to possess people, was unfortunately also the day she met Johanna Constantine. At the moment it was a tossup which part made the day worse.

hello hello hello everyone!!!! local weird archivist, lesbian, and mythology nerd here. did you know I also make stuff? now you do, and even better you can get some custom stuff!!

I make a lot of book recommendation lists for friends and work (check out some examples here), and I realized I have a lot of fun doing it, so I want to do it for other people!! if you would like custom recommendations on any topic you’re interested in, fill out the commission form here and I’ll make you one!!

I also have a literal degree in music, and one of my friends recently commissioned me to transcribe some of her favorite songs into (viola) sheet music; I hadn’t even thought of that as a commission idea before but now that I’ve done it I think it’s super cool, so if you want a song for you or a friend or sibling or parent put onto sheet music and you can’t find it online, commission me here!! I really want to do these, so please do commission me! I can translate vocal lines to instrument lines, straight up notate existing vocal/guitar/bass lines, and even do extra stuff if you have more time and money (email me, I would love to do complex projects!!)
